I finished my clovers a few weeks ago.
I would recommend doing the single attempts rather than the 10 unit attempts.
The best run I ever had was 6 clovers in a row, the worst was 10 no-clovers in a row.
It ended up being about 33% clover rate when I was done with it all.
Is that so? I did fractals last night. It took less than 30 seconds to get a full group, creating the group from scratch. www.gw2lfg.com has your back.
I also did wvwvw last night as well, and in tier 6, all 3 servers at one point during the night after the reset reported queues in all of their maps.
Yeah, the game is definitely dieing. The post about having no scavenger hunt for at least 3 more months is truly disappointing, but to claim the game is dieing…? Uh, no.
Yup, busting at the seams on my server as well
Queues all night for WvW.
Hitting overflow servers at 7 am.
Hundreds of people at dragon events.
Starter areas swamped with players.
As fast as they lift the server caps, the servers fill back up again. I’ve never seen a game 5 months after launch have this kind of traffic, it’s a phenomenom.
I found a book last night in the Iron Marches titled “One Hundred and One Reasons Why All Humans Should Die, Vol III”.
There was also a funny conversation between two old charr soldiers:
You know what they say, you’ve got your old charr…
And you’ve got your bold charr…
But you ain’t got many…
(both together pointing at each other) OLD AND BOLD CHARR!
Then they laugh. It was hilarious!
The wiki might be a good place to start
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lore
(check the gw1 wiki also)
Lion’s Arch is the main city with all the portals, that’s the busiest city and generally is in overflow all day and throughout the evening.
The human starting zone is the busiest of the starting areas because most people play humans for some reason, lol. Other areas have a good amount of players, seems pretty balanced on Sanctum of Rall. You can play in any starting area you like fyi and you will want to at some point to get your map completion.
Actually, a FULL realm is not the best choice for leveling since no new accounts can be created there. The High and Very High servers are best for leveling
You can transfer free every 7 days at this time. This is subject to change in the future, but we will have notice when they are going to make that change.
Welcome aboard!
They would be better if we had a downvote button, like reddit
I do concede that, if dragons dropped good loot, there might be lag issues due to overcrowding, but still.
One thing I think people are forgetting about the drop rates and dragons is the insane number of chances we have at them per week.
Each dragon spawns every 2-3 hours. That works out to well over 160 chances at dragon loot per week.
If rares and exotics dropped from each kill for every player, rare and exotic items would simply become vendor trash, like the blues and greens that drop now.
Don’t dismiss the JPs as not having good loot, I’ve recieved plenty of rares from JP chests and my friend got an exotic yesterday
I know a crazy guy that spent over 5k on Warhammer armies.
Another fellow I know spent over 2k on MtG cards.
Amazing what people will spend on games.
Please make sure to throw food in the Mystic Forge when you can.
Today I found my long lost sister who it seems fell into the forge 8 years ago. Trapped and helpless, she lived offf the meager offerings of food being tossed into the forge.
She said there were others there. They are probably hungry.
about Ascended weapons. Got my inquest longbow, inquest sword, inquest dagger, inquest harpoon, and inquest spear gun. Put superior sigil of fire, and energy runes on them. Now Ascended weapons have come to my attention, and that I will soon no longer have max damage weapons. What was the point of me working so hard getting all this gear?
Dear OP~
HOPE IS NOT LOST!
You can use a transmute stone to transfer the looks and the sigils/upgrades over to the fractal weapons when they are released in the game.
Unless you were planning on going without weapons until then, I think you’ll be ok
Balthazar is open on SoR 3:45 pm PST, thursday 1/10
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Game-Update-Notes-January-10-2013
Sheesh, seven whole minutes.
Why would fixing bugs make you unhappy unless you were exploiting them?
Hey OP, I had the same concerns about WP costs when I was leveling. I think mid to cap was when I was feeling it the most.
But I can assure you once you hit max level that it’s not even a concern when one fractal or dungeon run will get you 2-5g.
The incentive to farm any of the dragons is gone.
The loot received for your effort is unbalanced. If the time spent on Jormag for the chest yields the same rewards as running around killing mobs for the same amount of time something must be off. Blue items shouldn’t even be on the loot table for the chests. Now that the mobs around the dragons rarely drop anything, why bother?
The epic fights don’t offer anything epic in return.
Not true!
Look at all this epic whining!
Really…. last time I did Jormag I got 3 yellows, a couple medallions and some other stuff that made a few silver. It took maybe 15 minutes.
If you make all that and more from regular mobs in 15 minutes, I would have to go ahead and say that you sir, are either embellishing or lying.
I see more epic cheering than I do whining
With the thousands upon thousands of players killing dragons everyday, the very small handful of whiners on this thread is not even an issue.
I think the real reason why we see so many ridiculous posts is because this has been the most successful MMO in years, and people who don’t like the game are extra determined to see it fail because of the idea that there can only be one successful game on the market
Have you really thought about what you wrote there? Please read and understand what you just wrote.
You are seriously saying that because (in your opinion) this is the most successful MMO, people from other games buy this game to post negative threads on the forums to make it look bad and make their game look better.
I am just baffled by this, sorry but this has to be the most ridiculous thing ever posted on a games forum.
It’s corporate forum wars.
As “the elephant in the room” servers get quieter and quieter, as their LFR queues get longer and longe and longer, you better believe “the elephant” can afford to buy a few accounts to make a mess of their competition’s forums.
The White Knights are now in conspiracy theory mode…
It’s sad to watch an elephant die.
And messy.

30 accounts creating negative posts and cross posting on each others negative posts can make a general forum look like a mess.
I’m not saying that all ‘the game needs to improve in this area’ posts are from these infiltrators, but the game-bashing, exaggerated complaint and outright lies most certainly are. Sometimes they even give themselves away by talking about how awesome their “elephant” is and asking people to go play it or advertising specials.
The healthiest discussion of the game currently takes place on reddit, where trolls can be downvoted. and real issues are discussed. I would love to see a downvote funtion on these forums – people would see a whole different game!
Dragons should appear randomly, at different places on the map (maybe have a few “landing spots” designated and just pick one at random) they should be semi-mobile (no sweetspots where you just stand and spam attacks) and most importantly, there should be a mechanism in place to enable them to either win or flee under certain circumstances.
THEN the rewards could be more epic. Otherwise buffing rewards for something that is a guaranteed win after a 5 minute attack spam is just giving freebies to players.
Different locations would be sweet but random spawn time? How would people know about it? You can’t just travel around all day to find out, waypoint cost would be too much. Maybe if they spawned once a day with increased difficulty, different mechanics (they should move around a bit…I know many people don’t play it on max settings but some of us do and we wish to see all that dragon sweetness in motion), and increased loot, would be better
I agree with you that random spawn times would be bad but not so sure about the decrease in spawn rate just because of the HUGE traffic at these events now.
Right now Claw of Jormag pops 8x in a 24 hr period with 100-150 people at each event. Trying to cram all those people into a once per day thing would be just too many people. Also need to consider people that play at different times of the day, limiting it to once per day would shut out alot of players.
The events are fun, they are a lighthearted raid, not too difficult, not offering spectacular loot (unless you get lucky with a precursor drop) with a big epic boss and a great opportunity for social interaction.
In other words, FUN!

I have a level 80 and 4 alts. Sometimes I play my 80, sometimes I play one of my alts.
With my Alts, obviously I’m leveling, and do zones, and personal story and gathering and crafting.
On my 80, I am going for Map Completion, so currently doing high level zones. I also did my first dungeons yesterday. Also, gathering and leveling crafting up.
I’ll probably play my Alts more now though.
Cheers.
Thanks for they reply. Isn’t this the same thing people do in WoW?
Only WoW is ugly, it has a horrible community, they don’t manage their servers and make you pay up to $250 to transfer, people ninja your loot, your kills, your nodes, they rarely issue content updates and on top of it all they charge you a monthly fee for that old stale nonsense. Oh and horrendous RNG for items to gate you and keep you paying that fee longer.
What I do in GW2 (been 80 for 3+ months):
Kill a couple dragons.
Run a fractal or two.
Take down a Corrupted God Temple with my guild.
Play in the Murder Pit with my friends and get my tokens for Gift of Battle.
Run a dungeon.
Run 3-4 jumping puzzles.
Play the TP a little.
I don’t get a chance to play every day and don’t get a chance to do all these things every day, need more hours in the day haha.
Colin posted this a couple days ago:

Maybe you could try the graphics enhancer program discussed in this thread to make the circles stand out more?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/better-colour-overall-graphic-FXAA
Not sure if it would make a difference with your eyesight, but worth a shot!
Chance at a precursor of course!
I get at least 1 rare every 3rd dragon kill or so (not counting rare crests or orbs). I’ve recieved 2 exotics from dragon chests since I started doing dragons.
Including the drops from the spawned mobs at the events I always make much more than my WP fee and it’s fun to run with a big group and take down a big dragon.
They are probably still working on it so players can’t exploit it.
Yes, right now you could go to Server A and farm all Orichalcum nodes, go to Server B and farm all Orichalcum nodes, go to Server C and farm all Orichalcum nodes…..
Seems to be saved on the server side and not on the player side. They have stated they are working on it but no ETA yet.
You can x-server group with your friends for dungeons however
I thought the Wintersday event was a smashing success – loved the decor and music and games.
For Snowball Mayhem I would like to see being able to join with friends. I understand you would not want pre-made groups going against random pugs, maybe 2 versions of it? I would have played it ALOT more than I did if I could have gone in with friends and coordinated on vent or TS against another premade.
Endless Tonics felt very RNG-ish and sad to report I never did get the Plush Griffon tonic that I wanted so very badly. Maybe if we had a way to work towards it, earning some kind of token for it, maybe from playing the Toypocalypse?
Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing what you folks give us in the future.
(been searching for funniest GW1 and GW2 videos)
+"World vs World vs Moose" LOL
If you haven’t seen it, funniest video evar!
(yes that is my server and no I am not biased)
I saw one event where an NPC said someone had Skritt for brains. Laughed so hard!
The only thing that was promised and not delivered was guesting.
I think they ran into a technical issue with how servers share info – you can log into any number of overflow servers to gather the same nodes or get the same achievement (like the jump puzzle or the build the snowman wintersday thing).
They’ve said they are working on it, I believe they are!
As far as what’s been promised for the future, Colin Johanson said this a couple days ago:
Hey guys,
Just to help provide some clarity on this, we’ll be releasing within the next couple of weeks a high level summary of our big plans for the first half of 2013 to help provide more transparency into our plans with the game going forward. This will include providing more details about our goals for the game, information about the stories and features that you’ll see in the Jan/Feb/March releases.
To set expectations accordingly, the January release will be a relatively small release that sets the table for the stories and features we plan to roll out with the Feb/March releases and beyond. Also, there will be no new race, profession, or new region with these larger Feb/March releases. One of our major goals with these releases is making our existing world as strong as possible, ensuring there are reasons to go to all the locations in the world we’ve already built, and strengthening the core game we’ve provided. In saying this will be an expansions worth of stuff in these releases, we’re talking about the number of new features that will be rolled out across PvE, WvW, and PvP in early 2013, which usually you’d only find in an expansion for a traditional MMORPG.
More details and specifics to come in the next couple of weeks, but I hope that helps provide some more insight into what to expect at a very high level.
Mirta, you spent hundred of hours on pvp gear ? it can be obtainable in 2 days, and for arena, it really doesn’t take hundreds of hours to cap points lol. And yes, most of people can see end-game with LFR addition. World pvp is alive now more than ever because of cross-realm zones. I play on Kazzak(high) and Alliance attacks us with 2 full raids of like what.. 80 people? Also, I want to see anyone playing in Pandaria with 8 years old laptop on Ultra, good luck.
I heard things were dead over there but WoW must really be hurting trying to recruit players from GW2, lol.
Yeah you heard.. lol. Oh, I logged on Desolation and tried recruit people at Divinity’s reach, but sadly, no one was there, lol.
Funny, my friend logged in and tried to recruit people at Darnassus, sadly no one was there either!
Just dead, dead, dead.

You can ‘rediscover’ jumping puzzles daily. If you ‘discover’ three today, you can ‘discover’ those same three tomorrow. Not sure if it is 24 hours or reset with the daily server reset though.
I believe it depends on the puzzle.
Eternal Battlegrounds puzzle is 24 hrs and the others are at the daily reset (pretty sure).
Because 3 months of doomsaying isn’t enough.
Keep on trolling bojangles, why you spend so much time on the forums is anyone’s guess.
Haven’t figured out if he gets paid by the post or by the hour
Out of my 399 person guild, only 21 players are showing as Unknown location (this means they haven’t logged in since the last patch).
Sorry your guild died but it no way represents the health of the game.
As fast as they lift the caps on the servers they fill up again. The game is busting at the seams, it’s a phenom!
several million more people play wow lol….
In China maybe
But it’s clear in the western world players said “No” to Pandas and are now playing GW2.
WoW is still thriving in the west, I still play as well and disagree’d with panda. Just ignore them and continue playing my human.. not hard. Just how I ignore the worgen, Blizz adds horrible races to their game but it’s still a great MMO. I still expect them to add faries and vampires… lul
Their ocean of dead servers says otherwise
My old server was called Medium in Cata was really a Low and they are now calling it High and it has half the guilds raiding as it did in Cata, LOL.
From the number of wowkids trying to recruit players from the GW2 forums it’s pretty clear where the players are these days.
Because posting in a forum indicates I am not playing…. well I’m not sure what to say what with your infallible logic and all.
Anyway, their servers aren’t dead. Cata was horrible, MoP is much better and subs are back up, this is literally a fact. My guild also died down in Cata, but I haven’t had so much fun raiding since Wotlk in MoP.
At least in WoW there are things to do and I get rewarded for doing them. Oh BURN and I haven’t seen anyone try recruiting, just making comparisons with a dying MMO and a thriving one. Don’t get mad bro…
Even Cata is 10x better than current GW2.
They’ve got a handful of busy servers, the rest are clearly dead and/or dying.
You cannot deny that! Everyone knows it, it’s the laughingstock of the gaming world.

Monthly content patches.
That’s whats being done to retain the playerbase. And it’s working
We should have a blog about it very soon. See Colin Johanson’s post:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/January-updates-Any-sources/first
You posted this at 5:30 am on a Sunday morning.
Everyone is sleeping.
Come back in a couple hours. The game is booming.
Instead of making Tyria one big seamless world why did they choose to keep using portal load screens from GW1? can anyone explain why?
Also some sanity on the server side. Lets assume 2mil players world wide (similar number stated by a red post somewhere in the past week). Thats a little short of 38.5k people per server (average). Now lets assume that that each zone has its own process within the server, that means for the map you are on, the server only has to worry about 1.5k people per process (reality it is much less since not all 2m are on at once).
Conclusion, zoned map areas means less work for the server to do per map, meaning less server lag for us all.
Those numbers are really fictional. Just because 2 million people own the game doesn’t mean they’re still playing it. In fact we know a good number of players have left.
The reality as you just put as a sidenote is what is you should’ve focused on. And reality is about much smaller numbers. Already having hundreds of people in the same map is already a strain on performance. That’s why WvW areas are capped much more strictly than a server as a whole.
It’s really a good choice in the end if it improves performance. The big downside is the loading times for each area, especially towns but I think I can live with that as such if it means better performance overall.
They sold 2 million copies the first MONTH.
I think it’s safe to say they have far surpassed that number by now.
The chest at the end gives siege weaponry blueprints which are needed for the battle.
Keeping your enemy from getting those blueprints is important.
Hint: Run the puzzle during a time when your server controls the puzzle or bring in a team to take it.
I get rares from the jumping puzzle chests occassionally, but I’ve never recieved an exotic.
I generally run at least 3 jp’s a day.
If I could wear my Aviator Shades in combat I would be tickled pink!
Make it so!
I hit 80 about 3 weeks after release and I can assure you it just keeps getting better and better
I am all for constructive criticism. Everything can benefit from constructive criticism. The problem with many of the threads that are started on this forum (aside from the “hatred” undertones), is that they are opinion and yet peddled as fact. Some are purely anecdotal and/or blatant misinformation, peddled as fact.
This place would be better, cleaner and far happier (even with criticism) if people learned how to differentiate between opinion and fact, and how to write a post that isn’t inflammatory or down-right idiotic.
Even the most ardent fan welcomes constructive criticism. The vitriolic hatred/lies/conspiracy junk however is another story. Hint: that is not coming from the GW2 playerbase.
As Blizzard’s servers get quieter and quieter, as their dungeon and LFR queues get longer and longer, we will see more of this garbage. Know it for what it is.
Smashing success.
Log in at 9 am on a Saturday – overflow.
I don’t know of any other MMO that has this kind of traffic 4 1/2 months after launch.
