You idea has 2 flaws:
1) you think that you swap legends only according to situations whan you also need to change weapons (like whan you need to go ranged for kiting you have to swap legend and a ranged weapon)
2) you think that there is only 1 weapon suited for 1 legend.

Both those assumtions are wrong.

If I use S/S+Hammer I don’t want to be forced to go ranged everytime I swap legend to stunbreak or to recover energy. And of course I want to be able to use melee and ranged weapons.

S/S + Hammer is also very good with a Shiro/Mallyx setup, and both legends are good with both weapon setups. Why should I change to hammer whan I equip Mallyx for EtD?

I don’t know if you played Revenant in the beta, but upkeep skills force you to swap legend, or you can’t use weaponskills.
Forcing to swap weapons on weaponswap is a bad idea.

Plus why do you care? With the current weaponswap you can basically emulate what you want. Just swap weapon when you swap legend.
Don’t want to press 2 buttons? Set up a macro. There are many softwares to do that.

This thread has no purpose except bothering people who are happy with the current decision.

We already have a starting weapon when you create the beta character, and is hammer. It’s fine by me, it fits Jalis in lore (not gameplay), but also Ventari and maybe Shiro.
Also it’s a special weapon because Revenant is the only class that uses Hammer as ranged weapon (Thief is going to use melee staff)

Worse, ArenaNet is very obviously suggesting that players should play in very specific combinations of weapons & legend & traits – they are pushing for double swords to be combined with the Shiro legend and the Shiro traits, for mace and axe to be combined with the Mallyx legend and the Mallyx traits, and so on.

Where did you get this info? I see no reason why any of the available weapons to a Rev can’t be played with other legends.

Yep. In fact different conbinations are even better. Staff is great for tank builds, hammer is the only decent weapon with ventari tablet.

1. Do you have a back story if so what is it?
After years spent trying to commune with the Mists, Rytlock Brimstone came and told everyone how to do it.
It’s common knowlegde now, so my life research is useless and I’m pretty mad about it.

2. What race are you going with?
Human male. Already got the others.

3. What weapons are really tickling your fancy?
Dual swords or sword+shield, depending on the skills (I like both).
Probably hammer on the second set, I like the look and swapping ranged may be useful in some situations.

4. What is your favourite legend?
For lore and role, probably Jalis and Glint.
For how they work, well, they all make me angry except Shiro. Can’t talk about Glint yet.

5. How are you going to make your Revenant look?
Not telling :P

6. Is it now going to be your main or just an alt?
My main has to be able to handle dungeons/wvw, so I hope it’s strong enough, otherwise alt.

Having siphons scale from healing power is just like having them at minimal effectiveness 100% of the time.

Moving toughness to healing power will damage tank builds. Moving power/crit to healing power will damage dps builds. None of those builds will bother.

Also what benefits do healer builds gain from siphons? Healing Revenant just has to move the tablet around, you won’t get to siphon very often. You won’t attack at all probably.

So healer builds won’t use siphons and all other builds are not going to invest in healing power. Why the hell should siphon scale from healing power? Just to lower our dps to have a little bit more survivability (and maybe still less then knight builds)?

I hope they don’t. Siphon survivability is needed on toughness builds and power builds.
Healing power builds don’t have to heal by siphoning, but with Ventari healing skills.

Siphon has to be a fixed coefficient based on damage dealt.

Tempest shout get a lot of benefits from traits. People are going to run 5 shouts, even the elite one to gain those auras and boons.

Yeah, it’s totally free, just ignore the fact that by taking warhorn, you lose 2 blast finishers, an invuln, a personal reflect, a projectile destruction field, and/or one of the very VERY few mobility skills that Ele gets. Not to mention the fact that you have to take the Tempest trait line to even use the warhorn in the first place. So, which trait line are you going to sacrifice to run Tempest? Water? There goes your sustain, cantrip cooldown and condi removal. Arcane? There goes your access to boons. Fire? Kiss your damage goodbye.

Dust Storm isn’t even all that good! It’s two blinds at most per target, on a 30 second cool down. Glyph of storms (earth) has five times that on a 60 second cool down.

You take 7 more skills with warhorn alone. Longest water field, pulsing aoe bling, 3 might+copy of all boons aoe, longest fire field, aoe water knockback, aoe stunbreak.

Oh come on. Ele warhorn may be the best weapon in the game. They’re even doing a new set of sound effects.

Invulnerability has to be instant, and I can’t see an instant aoe invulnerability part of the game right now.

Jalis needs to give aoe protection immediately or give invulnerability (not aoe) while channeling (similar to Guardian’s elite) and then aoe protection, if they want to keep the slow casting.

You can pre-purchase HoT now, or wait until it’s released.
Pre-purchase give you access to beta events (there is NO active beta event at the moment) where you MAY be able to try Revenant. You don’t get the expansion immediately from pre-purchase, but only once it is released.
The Revenant you may be able to try at beta events is not the same you’ll see in HoT, but just a work in progress.

Is this discussion really happening? You think the weapon swap doesnt solve the problems, problems you havent even mentioned, so removing it will? Simply saying the skills need work doesnt help anyone, that is just pointless bashing

Revenant last beta was really bad mostly because it lacked damage and mobility. With the addition of Shiro and weapon swap, this class went from 0-100 real quick. No one can say the class is bad now, im looking at blocks, evades, flat endurance regen, chase,escapes, damage, conditions control, decent stun breaks, great might and fury stacking, great healing (some of it might even get nerfed in future). This is everything the class needs, the only thing left is possibly adding a second execute on sword, perhaps making Sword 2 a heavy damage attack

What is questionable is cleansing and swiftness but this seems to be intentional. Thief doesnt have great cleanses or swiftness either so Rev might be getting the same treatment because of Shiro.Rev only has better cleanses than thief because there is no stealth Most of the condi control comes from resistance, might be challenging depending on mostly resistance to handle condis but im curious about how that will play out. If resistance and disengages are timed properly might be possible to always negate conditions. I just wish there was something to remove poison and burning specifically

The synergy between weapons and legends isnt from the skills but the traits and stats. If you think there is no synergy then check your build.

I agree with you on the weaponswap stuff, but the class is still bad. It didn’t go from 0 to 100, but from 5 to 30.
It may be good with dps, but it’s a glass cannon. Revenant needs more survivability overall, Jalis needs to make Revenants able to tank, Mallyx doesn’t have to die of conditions or have external cleanses ruin it. I don’t even want to talk about Vantari.

All those I mentioned are issues that have nothing to do with weaponswap.

Weaponswap solves many other problems, and it does it very well. It needs to stay.

Use it on Shiro’s heal skill, get more damage and not really waste the heal

I was thinking the same, but first of all we may not have Shiro in our build (very unlikely, but maybe with elite) and second we may have that on cd already, since it should be spammed all the time.
Rebound is supposed to apply to those long cds.

The amount of AOE might, protection, stunbreaks, heal and overall bonus that ele gives to a group is now vastly superior compaeed to guardian’s.

Not to mention things like aoe stunbreak and pulsing aoe blindness, OH COME ON. that’s like 3 times our aegis.

And they even do more damage. Dragonhunter feels very underwhelming now

Rebound! Is the upcoming Tempest shout. It gives aoe 25% reduced cd in next skill.

But Revenant has no skill with long cd because of energy cost.

Would it be possible to make that effect simply a reduced energy cost for next skill?

Insane and gamebreaking. Pulsing area blind? What the… and that huge fire field? How long does it last? You can blast it like 6 times alone.

WP is going to be happy, but those are serious issues. Ele is already the strongest class, so those things are going to provoke a ele nerf or a buff of all the other classes (maybe after a couple of years…), both bad things.

If classes are too strong, content is not fun.

And why shouldn’t we talk about the dps decrease from swapping sword with any other weapon? (not to mention that everything that is not AA will drain upkeep and only sword does good dps with only AA).

Weaponswap doesn’t make you stronger, expecially on revenant because of energy. It just allows to change playstyle according to situations.
The skill throughput is the same, unlike elementalist that can spam no-stop.

A sword/sword revenant has more dps then a sword/sword + mace/axe one that weaponswaps on cooldown.
(Also because sword’s best attack is auto attack that has no cd, so you get NO benefits from swap, except a very appreciated team support with fire field and blast, at the cost of dps)

3 Utility skill would have never been able to allow you to go ranged, unless with something like a kit. The only wayvto do that would be making an utility lika autoattack, but that’s a waste.

Also 2 legends and 2 weapons give the customization revenant needs.

Lighter, you don’t seem to have clear enough the difference between legendswap and attunements. Also legend skills are getting buffed. The fact that currently some of them are underpowered has nothing to do with weaponswap (we got our most powerful legend skills AFTER weaponswap was introduced).

And they’re not removing it, deal with the fact that 99% of people gave them negative feedback for the lack of weaponswap and are happy with the current solution.

Not having weaponswap from the beginning made no sense. The ‘1 class from each armor type’ was never a good reason.

Assassin’s Presence is only in combat however, so it doesn’t apply on the first hits.

Also ferocity damage depends on your crit chance. At level 80, having +150 points of ferocity means +10% critical damage. If your crit rate is 50% that’s an average 5% increase in damage, if you have 90% it’s 9% and so on.

No, thank you. Attunement changes thinks like the skills you are suggesting to implement. Legendswap is supposed to be something different.

Also all this fuss is just because there wasn’t weaponswap since the beginning. If revenant had weaponswap from the start, nobody would have cared.
Weaponswap was already planned for Revenant however. They had a build redy with it, already compiled. It was shown literally 4 days after the beta event and the feedback.

Some people like lighter were suggesting different (and inferior) solutios instead of weaponswap, and now are on a personal crusade.

Why it’s a personal crusade? Because having weaponswap can simulate not having it. Just don’t equip a second weapon. There is NO reason to remove it.

Weaponswap is something that the revenant needs a lot to avoid those kind of moments when you have to say “meh, I guess I’ll just wait”.

Weaponskills in this game are very different from healing/utility/elite, and making those more like weaponskill just swaps the bars, making another elementalist basically.

As of today, there is no mention of evade or block on that skill. I believe Roy may have confirmed this too?

Personally, I’d like to see some form of what I’d call long term (5+ seconds) invulnerability as well. Maybe Glint will bring this.

You are not invulnerable during that attack, just difficult to spot maybe.

That’s a pretty neat idea. Elite spec is supposed to alter or add to the class mechanic.

I wouldn’t mind Revenant being an exception, however I’d prefer something like passive effects for each legend.

we kinda have a 2s block with sword, that unlike other skills is not cancelled on first block.
I know block is not invulnerability however, mainly because there are many unblockable skills.
