I agree with this, it’s pretty useless/insulting as it is.
I definitely support the idea of making an infinite use one but 400 gems would be cheap for that. Would rather say 500-600 gems for infinite use (account bound preferred).
We’re changing it so that glory is only rewarded at the end of a match, which should stop the exploit where players leave and rejoin the match. We are also actively looking into other options to prevent this exploiting.

Now, if you play good, you deserve a lot of points aaaaand you get disconnected before the end of the game, cya glory.
There are more and more rewards at the end of everything, it’s getting very frustrating because it removes the whole interest of “everything until the end”.
Same happens with dungeons : all the rewards at the end, go die if you get disconnected at the end.
Same with fractals.
Now PvP ? What’s next ? WvW ?

Hello, I also now have access to it, so here are my 2 cents :
I will obviously begin with the flaws :
1) People can join (alone) or merge without any notice. This is bad, not sure if intended or not but this is the biggest flaw and HAS to go away. You sometimes look for some professsions only or anything but this profession and the wrong guys could invite themselves and you would have to kick them … no control of your own group, it’s bad.
Also, it makes griefing much more easier. Two guys spot groups who are at the end of a dungeon, or 2d/3rd map of fractal for example. They merge, they insta kick leader and they successfully trolled poor people.
The tool should be removed before it gets fixed imho.
2) Second flaw : no distinction between story and explorable. You will have to read what you’re looking for. Bear in mind that atm there are few posts, but in the end, there will be tons of posts so it makes it very boring.
3) Third flaw, similar to 2nd one : bad handling of fractal levels. We have 1-9, 10-19, 40+ and why on hell 20-39 instead of 20-29 and 30-39 ?
Also, an option to filter would be nice as it exists on gw2lfg (like only from 34-39 for instance). Again, keep in mind there will be tons of posts and you will want to filter, especially that the UI won’t show so many groups without scrolling.
4) More options ? Not really a flaw, but I think it could be improved further with special options as gw2lfg (experienced only, speed run, language preference etc …). Not really mandatory, but could be cool. Could be added months later.
Other than that, at the moment, I find it pretty good.
However, number 1 MUST be fixed for it to be useful, and would be very cool if #2 and 3 could be adressed too.
Honestly, we still have gw2lfg available and we have waited for over 1 year for this, can’t you just wait an extra couple of days ? Or do you prefer a bugged tool ?
Their approach with this, just as they did with BLTC is very good : more and more ppl will have access to it as it proves working.
If it takes longer, it means that it’s not behaving properly with a “low” number of testers.
Definitely prefer that to a full bugged, useless tool.
First of all, congratulations and big GG for this communication, this is awesome ! Finally what players have been asking for months happen, hope it won’t be the only time it happens !
Generally speaking, very good content and ideas. Now to the specifics :
- Very good for tooltips, finally useful tooltipis incoming ?
- Tab targetting : cool bye petzoos !
- Good for condition damage, though it’s funny to have tons of floaters, it’s not very clear
- Ground targetting, if I understood right, “Release the button to cast” it means that as long as I hold the key, the circle to aim appears and I use the skill if I release, which means you can just hit the key to have the same effect as before with fast ground targetting, or hold for better accuracy ? If so, awesome
- Cool for split of pet HP though it should also be split between pve and WvW (or damage reduction in PvE)
- Warrior : cool changes imo. Not much to do since it’s getting pretty good. Warhorn could use a buff maybe. Since the stun is gonna be fixed with the stun duration sigil, should be fine.
- Guardian : nice. Purging Flames promises to be interesting. I feared at first that it could be OP (like it’s a counter to the main counter of guardian, the necro) but guardian already has so many great utilites, he’ll have to give up one for this so I guess it should be fine.
Very good change for meditation, finally a way to reliably play guardian else than bunker ? It could however be borderline OP with the recent buff to heal on meditation use, so might have to reduce that a bit. Very good idea anyway since guardians were lagging behind as to killing people :P
- Ranger : I still feel Sick’Em will remain utterly useless and not used but good idea. Waiting to see changes to weapons but GS should be fine if leaked patchnotes were accurate. Sword could use some help too (root). Maybe a slight buff to axe MH too.
- Thief : cool to see boons stealed reduced to 1.
- Engineer : pretty dangerous changes. Bunker engineers were already very good while spamming conditions, giving them stealth and/or stability could make them OP (and will probably do if there’s no change elsewhere). Waiting to see what QoL changes are : autoattack on grenades ? (yeah I know, I can dream since it’s used pretty often) cool for bombs if leaked patchnotes are right. Good for turrets but still not enough I think.
- Elementalist : I like the ideas but still think it won’t be enough to play staff. Buff velocity could be a better solution. Good for conjures. Focus (especially fire) and scepter (water) deserve some love too.
- Mesmer : Cool changes to mantra though stability one will still be useless I think (high CD, low duration). It NEEDS a change to Illusionist Celerity back or take a look at clone summoning skillls CD seriously …
Also, scepter #1 is still garbage, as well as Torch’s phantasm (stop buffing scepter #2 and 3, issue is #1, same for torch, buff phantasm and not prestige …)
- Necromancer : can’t really comment on it but I don’t see how the condition spike could be countered in the new meta.

As said above, rangers, just like engineers, have a bad reputation because most of players are noobs with these classes.
With rangers, you will mostly see stupid pew pewing with LB at max range, bringing 0 contribution to the group (max range = out of your party’s support and bringing 0 support to your team). Or the same with SB faster pewpew !
As for engineers its spam 1 Flamethrower x)
Agree with this, boring to select the deposit each time. Would be pretty nice QoL improvement to have 3 distinct icons.

If it stays like that with the long timer and the fac you’re kittened if you get an overflow, it will be very stupid. I think at least they will do the same as for Scarlet waves with the overflows. Dunno for the spawn timer though. Every hour would be too much so just keep as is or every 2 hours maybe.

As some people, I’ll miss some elements of difficulty.
However, the great majority of the changes I wholeheartedly agree with and welcome
Especially about zone 1 (rapid rivers).
I don’t think the change to geysers was necessary (that they no longer go down), maybe longer duration would have been enough.
Also this “Geysers were removed from Piranha Bend in World 2-1 and been replaced with more piranha for overall difficulty reduction.”
More checkpoints and better rewards are also a great change.

Actually, title says “revert in PvE” or “rework” so it does include PvP as well depending on the need.

And I fail to see how removing 5 points from a place to put them elsewhere change everything in matter of diversity …. If it were a 15/20/25 trait, yeah absolutely but that was just to screw mesmers, especially in PvE (hello phantasm … AOE ! bye phantasm, see you much later now due to IC nerf ..)
On the opposite, I think we were.
When you look at it, balancing was always made without touching it. Mesmer was still very powerful yeah, but not OP (only talking about shatter spec of course).
After that big update, some classes were offered new gameplays, especially warriors who became interesting (the nerf to Berserker Power and the other were waaay acceptable due to tons of buffs everywhere to survivability).
But when you look at it, instead of providing more diversity, it reduced it even more : only shatter spec is truly viable now, even more than before, since it was the only spec unnerfed (except Blurred Frenzy), all other specs were hit hard by the nerf bat.
Now, as you can see, mesmer has not truly its place in PvP. Maybe not entirely because of IC nerf, because of the condition meta, but IC nerf plays a part in it anyway.
The thing is, the buffs mesmer received were absolutely not enough to make up for the IC nerf outside of shatter spec.
Without mentionning that tons of clones/phantasm summons did not deserve a nerf on CD.
I can obviously see the nerf needed to Duellist, maybe to Berserker, but that’s it …
Now that GW2 is officially moving to Esport, this really has to be adressed.
I kinda agree with OP but at the same time, Esport is only viable with a balanced game, which means if it’s not balanced, people will quit it, so they still have to balance in the end

There are a lot of things that are not as random as they should …
For instance, fractal maps : Dredge is one of those who come the most often since last update (was OK before).
Also on swamp map : it’s like Mossman 80%/Bloomhunger 20%
Some ok ideas but those concerning Signet of Illusions and Signet of Midnight would clearly be OP …
I agree with about everything (main ideas) except for Elixir R. Elixir R was a bit too much before, but now engineers lost the breakstun from it so now this skill is OK.
It’s a bit frustrating yeah, but there’s counterplay : immediately stop attacking as long as it’s in effect, then destroy the engineer.
Also quite disagree about the warrior. I agree this is frustrating but Hammer& M/x warriors have very low DPS though they stun a lot. Hammer& LB or Rifle don’t have the necessary DPS to get you down while they stun you and they can stun you less. Finally, only Hammer & LS warriors can stun you AND have the DPS to destroy you, BUT they have to be zerk most of the time and they lose any ranged option, being forced to play to close areas with walls, while you can pull them to open spaces to range them to death.
Also I would add that the necro has counters (especially KD warriors) we have to admit it BUT it’s far from enough. Some necros have so much survivability that they can still win, or at least escape a fight against some decent stunning warrior …
TL;DR : Agree with OP except for Elixir R and only partly with warrior

I see what you mean, but what I mean is, as you say and as suggested in OP, this change needs rework, the trait of some phantasms and especially of clones needs to be lowered according to the nerf …
Are you sure you get the win when you get auto-swapped ? I think you don’t in that case and you only get the win if you volunteer AND get swapped by that volunteer or is that incorrect ?

Sorry to bump this old thread but it’s still relevant today.
We’ve seen through weeks/months that this nerf was not only damaging for mesmer in PvE but also in PvP : mesmer is now pretty lagging behind in the current meta.
Since the next update, coming on 20th, will probably include some balancing, what do you guys expect ?
Do you hope some of these suggestions will be applied ?
Knowing that the problem right now is conditions, a few things that could be done :
- nerfing other classes (especially conditions) : ok-ish, but still screws us
- buffing anti condition from the mesmer : I could see this happening, but probably failing as it would probably only be linked to shatter spec (shattered conditions for instance) … failing even more to bring diversity, since we apparently have to play shatter spec
- buffing damage/CC to be allowed to counter those bursts : I can’t see this coming
- buff pretty useless traits/skills : probably what will come … like the Signet of Domination buff that did not change anything, but at least it’s a buff
Fractal Relics (the regular ones) have been removed from Mystic Forge recipes. Those recipes now use Piles of Crystalline Dust instead.
Is it me or is it much harder/worse now since it’s so much easier to get relics than that ?
Or maybe is it a temporary addition while adding a replacement item at the NPC ?

Restrict “desert” areas. Give more reliable ways to get more arrows. Less places to hide + more arrows = more agressive play and less campers, thus shorter games

Honestly, I very much preferred when it was very fast, not to get flooded when you opened a lot of stuff.

Improving the “looking for group” tool to make it easier to find other players to play with in the game.
It was planned for the first half year 2013. It did not come out. Now it’s more likely to be in November/December.
Easy to fix ? Definitely not. They have to look at the whole coding and redo it completely to do some optimising you know ? That takes a hell lot of time. Just don’t act like you know the code of the game …
And as for the other “solution” of reducing the player cap, just no, would only be a bandaid not really effective and temporary solution encouraging no optimisation.
Just wait for improvements, seriously, it was already reduced a lot, it doesn’t happen so often anymore and is not so.
The culling was much worse, now it’s gone, players are spoilt and want everything immediately, not realizing what they’re asking for …
Such bullkitten in this thread. Skill lag and culling have NOTHING to do. They are completely separate issues. Non culling introduced general lag because of a lack of optimisation, now it’s done and it’s very good. Anyone not recognizing it is lying or completely kitten.
Skill lag is due to massive skills being used at the same time, with many animations. That’s the problem and it’s insanely complex to polish that.
Scepter #1 for mesmer is simply the worst weapon skill ever in the game. It’s very slow, not very powerful, totally opposite to the other skills (based on power while #2 and #3 are based on conditions) and sometimes provide an utterly useless clone. As long as this skill is kittenty, none will bring this weapon.
Your comparison with Warrior does not make sense. As you said yourself, these traits for warriors were insanely OP in the first place and have always been there. Furthermore, this “nerf” was balanced with buffs to the burst abilities (F1), which actually helped create a lot of diversity.
Since warriors were OP in PvE, they did not really get hurt and in PvP … not very much either, especially since they earned new survivability tools.
Now let’s take the ranger. Sure it was a good trait, it affected your pet and you for a few seconds with a CD. It provided an overall increase without condition.
However, the case of mesmer IC is different. It basically nerfed the CD of phantasms (probably intended provided the buff to HP), but also a nerf to CD of clones (which already got a nerf on HP except in PvE) and, above all, a nerf to utilites/CC/survival associated with clone/phantasm creation.
Now THAT hurts so much harder. It’s basically a whole gameplay that is affected by the update, especially that of ALL the weapons.
When you take all this into account, the things are totally different.
And, once again, we’re not talking about sPvP here, but about PvE so ….

If an attack was started and “hit” the opponent, no matter if it’s blocked, invuln or 0 damage, it should trigger the revealed.
As a comparison, aegis is lifted when hit, even if you were dodging or blocking …
