one thing has always made me question this whole idea. They claim its to make Critical Damage easier to under stand but what was so hard about a solid number? 10% means 10%. 25% means 25%. how is turning it into every 15 ferocity equals 1% making it easier. all that is gonna do is add decimals.
If they wanted to nerf critical damage then just do rather then create this annoying system.
Totally true but you don’t understand. It’s a nerf to zerk. Now they will see that it’s absolutely useless because people will still ask for zerkers even more (checking gear more often) because of DPS loss.
So, this system allows them to, after seeing that, nerf zerk even more.
“Hummm so people still want zerkers ? Ok change it to 17 ferocity needed for 1%crit damage those kitteners !”
“Humm stil zerkers ? Put it to 20 ferocity needed for 1% crit damage, that’ll teach them !”
Rince and repeat until zerker is totally destroyed and becomes utterly useless.
Definitely agree with OP. Anet said they wanted to get rid of holy trinity, so did they.
But what do we see now ? Zerker nerfed bad, buffs to healing (ele) more reliable as healers (especially with those new on hit sigils) and guardian becoming more tanky with 3000 more HP.
So, less damage, more heal, more tank …. definitely seems like a step towards it indeed.
I’m not saying it will suddenly be the case, but it’s a step anyway.

Don’t worry, bosses and ennemies won’t be affected, they will still hit as hard as they do now, the nerf will only affects players.
Also, there seems to be incoherence with their maths.
If you look at lyssa runes and ferocity conversion, you see that 8% crit damage (old) becomes 6.666666666(…)% (new).
So, when you look at trait lines, it used to give you 30% (old), so basically, it should give you (30*6.666666666) /8 = 25%
But they said it would be around 20%, that’s a cut of 33% in here …
Also they had said it would be about 10% loss for maxed out, optimised characters, which would mean characters in full zerker armor, with optimised traits under buffs, affecting some professions more than others.
What seems to be the case actually is that the weakest professions will take a -10% DPS while others will suffer from 15-20% ….
I know there’s the wait and see but honestly, the loss will definitely be over the announced 10%, that’s for sure …
For the 10%, they should have made it so that you need about 12-13 ferocity to get 1% crit damage, not the 15 points …

The feature patch should just be a way to finally fix what’s broken and introduce content that was way overdue so nobody should pay for what’s due to players.

That’s the idea. Number 1 ultimate highest ultra mega giga supra important priority is rewards fixing.
Rolling is the lowest ever priority and should not even be tackled : as somebody said, if maps are fixed/reworked as I suggested in another post and other players have also done, there would be no need for rolling.

Maybe we should have a public DPS meter and a public healing meter. At the end of every path we can see how much damage and how much healing each person did and then MAYBE we can finally get people to see that their shout heal/cleric healing guard builds are useless in a game where you are responsible for your own healing and damage mitigation.

Public DPS meter/Healing meter is kitten, it SHOULD NOT and has NO PLACE AT ALL in GW2.

Proposal overview
The main problem of fractals is that RNG is everywhere and RNG is pretty unfair
Ascended weapons and armors are way too rare and too reliant on RNG. As the word RNG implies, some hardcore players will farm over and over and get nothing, other bad players will run just 2 or 3 times and get what they want …
Furthermore, even worse, even when we’re able to get one, we get stats we don’t want.
Goal of proposal
The goal here is to make fractals a more rewarding place, and those rewards being more fair, more reliable to get
Proposal functionnality
A]Solutions for stats :
1) Remove stats, let us choose them (universal boxes, it seems to already exist, waiting to be introduced)
2) Allow ascended, like legendaries, to be able to swap stats
B]Solutions to unfair RNG :
1) Drastically improve loot chance, allow to loot on mobs as well as at the end
2) Make pristine fractal relics tradable for 1 ascended weapon box or 1 ascended armor box
Consequently, change how many pristine you get from a run to prevent easy farm of lower levels :
11-20 : 1 pristine
21-30 : 2 pristine
31-40 : 3 pristine
41-50 : 4 pristine
Now, let’s say something like you need 20 pristine to get 1 box.
This way, you need about 5 days if you only do daily 41-50 to get 1 item, or much, much more if you do lower dailies.
You can be even faster if you farm several dailies in a day.
3) Add mats to the daily. You still get a chance to get 1 weapon or armor box But you also ALWAYS get to choose ascended material.
For instance, you can choose between
a) 1 deldrimor steel ingot OR 1 Spiritwood Plank OR 1 Elonian Leather Square (for weapon)
AND, in addition to that
b) 1 deldrimor steel ingot OR 1 Elonian Leather Square OR 1 bolt of Damask (armor)
This way, it gives a slight chance AND it also helps slowly towards crafting through guaranteed ascended mats.
Finally, infusions. Because seriously, it can’t be that only +1 are available and you should be able to get much better ones in higher levels, we should be able to get +2 AR, +3 AR … infusions to have a smoother progression that makes more sens.

The number 2, making ascended able to change stats would remove the unicity of legendaries (except for skin).
Solution #1 (universal boxes) seems better
B]RNG
Solution 1) is bad, it does not remove RNG, it’s just a poor bandaid fix but better than nothing.
2) Definitely seems the fairest solution to me: it gets rid of kittenty RNG by allowing rewards to time investment while still keeping time gated reward.
Probably won’t happen since Anet apparently wants to remove currencies and get rid of pristine relics. It’s a shame.
3) Probably the easiest solution which does not require an extra currency. Not the best but still pretty good.
Also possible to be able to choose more than 1 in each category depending on daily level (like 1 for 21-40, 2 for 41-60 etc …).
“Risk” is still being forced to craft your wray through 500. Also a little decrease in prices of low tier materials, but would not be significant or dangerous.
No other risks except players being happier to play in fractals.

12) Dredge
Hummm there’s so much to say about that map … at least for most players. I’m pretty much OK globally but it’s more the accumulation of everything. The first step with the control pannel is fine, except that crazy “veteran” that has much more HP than neeeded, just like a legendary mob, seriously ? O_o
Then there’s the 2d step : turrets or bomb path. Both are pretty long, bomb path is just broken. Being forced to run stealt is so lame. Of course, You can do without stealth : suicide way or way over the top difficulty to stay alive there. Both options suck.
Then you have the boss part, you pull it with adds, you kill it, okay with that.
Then you have that insanely long clown car. What’s good is that you get tons of loot. What’s bad is that there’s an insane number of them even at lv 48-50. Can’t imagine how it would be on higher levels. It’s also incredibly unfair that they spawn with a good uptime of invulnerability while they can destroy your kitten .
Either remove the invulnerable buff (which could cause the problem of spam massive AOE and they spawn half dead yeah) or make it so that they lose invulnerability as soon as they move/start to attack.
Even given that, either the turret/bomb event or the clown car event has to go. Both are OK but the two combines is way too long. I would vote to remove the bomb/turret and apply the changes I suggested to the clown car.
Then the adds to the boss are pretty useless, people skil them anyway.
The boss is fine, it’s pretty interesting except the problem of conditions not being boosted vy the heating on boss, which makes condition users pretty useless against this boss.
13 ) Maw and Molten boss
No problem with them. They’re fine.
14 ) Mai Trin boss
Well, the mechanics and all are pretty good but I think this map is a bit too long for the amount of effort you have to put (must be always focused not to die) The stacks could be removed a bit faster or P2 could be a little shorter than they are currently.
Now about harmonizing/fixing maps :
1) Tiered maps
This one was a very good idea and does not have that many problems. My only problem with it is having the Cliffside map on both Tier 2 and Tier 3 while it’s a (very ?) long map, depending on your group. The difficulty is pretty high so this map has nothing to do at Tier 2.
2) Swamp
Pretty much fine map. Still some problems with boss encounters : the bug on visual (red circles) for the AOE of Bloomhunger : clearly a bug.
Also the physical attacks and throw axe from Mossman while he’s stealthed. Don’t know if this is intended or bug. I’m ok with physical attack, but throw axe is definitely lame …
3) Uncategorized (Asura)
Very good map too. A bit long for Tier 1 though but nobody would run it anyway.The fix to harpies is pretty good. Now the major problem is the encounter with 4 adds. It’s very, very long and really too long. Especially the etin which has waaaay too much HP and toughness AND high uptime of protection … so lame. Reduced HP/toughness of the etin and remove protection and we’re fine.
4) Underwater
The change to the boss is very very good. Map is perfect now.
5) Ascalon
Very good map especially since the change for agony on NPCs. The only problem is the NPCs that sometimes refuse to follow you, losing themselves somewhere. You should be able to get them to you everytime you are all out of combat and move a bit.
*6) Svanir *
Map is pretty fine too. There’s only that elemental boss which is pretty boring with tons of HP, uncrittable and insane number of bumps. Could use a reduction of the HP.
7) Molten
Well, this map is also good. The only boring thing is the path where you get constantly KD if you are a bit laggy or what. Maybe the progression of the digging should stop while you’re fighting in a room to get a rock on the plate and change it so that when it ends digging, there’s no more KD in that path. This way you still have the KD to make progress but then you’re relieved of that.
8) Aetherblade
Well, gotta admit this map is very good too. Decent challenge and length. I don’t have many problems with it, except that I’m bad with the laser room but I am the problem here
9) Thaumanova
Well honestly I love this map. It’s very well designed and the ideas are very good. Waiting to know how it will evolve (what will be the other objectives on higher levels ?) but it’s a great map.
10) Volcanic/Shaman
Very good map too, well designed, both difficult and very short if done properly. Only gripe is that terribad camera which won’t zoom out (has been happening for a few weeks already)
11) Cliffside
Now, problems incoming ! This map has many flaws. First there’s that gamebreaking bug on arms seal with the chanters not despawning when you fail.
Then, other major gripe is you have 2 VERY long encounters of that hammer guy, tons of HP, very long to kill aaaaand he doesnt’ give anything. Seriously, no loot juste because he doesn’t actually die ? Honestly, give us loot as if he died (just like Alpha in CoE 2d encounter) for the 1st and last encounter, that’s the minimum you can do …
Then, it’s always the same thing : take hammer, charge hammer, destroy seal, kill mobs, get no loot. Either mobs give loot or better : destroyed seals give loot (you would not feel like you’re wasting your time anymore).
I pretty much like the suggested format. However, keep in mind that it’s impossible to have the same format.
For instance, this format is very good and very efficient to talk about class balance.
However, if you look at other CDIs, for instance, fractals, it’s pretty much impossible to use that structure, since you already have to make categories for each aspect of fractals, and sub categories for each map so if you split even more between problem and resolution …. I mean it’s really impossible to do that for fractals CDI ….
Is it a format you MUST absolutely follow otherwise you won’t be read ? Or is it an adviced format to follow when possible ?
I think this thread is not accurate enough.
Professions needing help : yes but in which mode ? sPvP ? WvW ? PvE ?
I guess sPvP since everything is balanced around that and there’s no care given to other aspects of the game balance-wise …
1) Elementalist : a bit too extreme. Either it was waaaay OP before or, as now, it’s lackluster. Especially the lack of choice : you play D/D with some water traits or you die.
S/X is getting better but still not as good as D/D.
Staff still sucks pretty much but I think it can’t be solved for a 5v5 conquest mode. It could become more useful in other game modes/maps.
2) Ranger. Basically, you are forced into S/X and SB or LB (condition or power). Everything not spirit oriented or not using those weapons clearly sucks.
More weapons and builds need to become useful : GS and Axe still lagging behind …..
3) Necromancer. Condition specs and MM specs are very powerful but power specs are too weak. You’re forced into the use of wells and even with that, it’s still not that good with A/F and D/WH (or D/D). It lacks a lot : not much CC (WH #4 and DS #3), not many conditions (long CD immobilize D #3). No stability except when traited for stab on DS. Axe is pretty fine traited but Dagger could really get some love like getting able to cleave/hit without target.
I have no idea where you learnt it could be coming and even less idea about why the hell in June ? O_o
Oh yeah right haven’t thought of Mist Form and Elixir S indeed.
Well that’s very strange then, can’t understand the logic beneath that.
I definitely think it’s a bug. It’s the same thing happening with Ranger’s Signet of the Wild (traited with active signets affect you too), while it does not for the elite stability. Other stabilities also do not prevent you from stomping (other professsions).
Also, you can’t either in Lich Form.
All this share one common point : using a different “form”, which prevents you from any interaction (except looting)
You forgot something : for release, most of the devs were fired, which explains how insanely slow the development of the game is now.
Thus, they can’t find suitable fixes for exploits as they only have some LS guys.
Those guys provide the fixes by using the tools that already exist in the game : add invisible walls or invulnerable ennemies.
So much easier than properly fixing …

Well I don’t really get the point of giving feedback here.
We get so little to discuss about …
It was said that there were tons of great other changes coming to ranger and others … but we aren’t allowed to see them.
So basically, this is like “hey we listen to your feedback but you can only talk about 20% of the update, for the rest, we don’t care about your opinion”
Yeah.
Basically, difficulty has been increased with the instabilities.
Some nice changes were made : classification of maps into tiers, HP of underwater boss reduced (very nice) and NPCs immune to agony (ascalon map) but that’s it.
Everything else was frowned upon and rewards have been nerfed :
- you get non infused rings now (lol ?)
- fractal skins rate lowered
- ascended weapons and armors still very, very low and tied to kittenty RNG
- global loot still as bad (let’s run colossus for 40 min and get absolutely nothing else than the chest at the end …. great ! Or I could run 2-3 speed run dungeons and get tons of (crap) loot to sell + daily gold … much better)
For all these reasons, though I love the very idea of fractals and I have run so many fractal runs, I’ve just abandonned fractals until they do something real about them.
I suggest everyone should stay away from fractals so that they see the problem when looking at the metrics.
I think the skins are very good, very beautiful !
Hearts aren’t too big a part of the weapons, it’s just a perfect balance.

The point is you’re not being kicked for not being a heavy but you’re being kicked for being a ranger.
Unfortunately, a ton of groups systematically kick rangers and necros because so many players of those play bearbow or full condi lolol.
So players kick those professions without even waiting to see what the guy is actually running because they don’t know them.
Unfortunately, a minority of good players are being “punished” because of a majority of non experienced players.
I often face the same problem as you with my necro, though I play daggermancer, full zerk, with wells.
I don’t play my ranger since I feel totally useless with it, being DPS wise or support wise
I usually hate the LS updates and was sure this event would be kitten too but I was surprised to see that this event was indeed pretty good.
I like this idea of reasonnable coordination with tower defend phase and attack one.
Only 2 negative points for me :
- often a bad distribution of players on the 5 ojbectives up there, often leading to 2-3 players on one, which makes it almost impossible.
- too much HP for the champions, relies too much on DPS while so many players have pretty bad DPS (bearbows powa ….)
So I think it could be good to tweak the distribution of players, reducing a bit the HP of the champions and also allow players who have completed their objective up there to help others.
After all, if they’re very good, they should be able to help instead of idling. If they’re just average as often, they won’t have enough time to help the others.
I, as for a few times, definitely agree with the PoV.
Though it was not only for performance issue, you guys can’t contest the fact that it’s heavy for the server. I would not say triple since I think it’s overexxagerating it but doubling the amount of players yeah definitely it does not help the server.
Furthermore, the fire eles are the huhe problem since they spam fire fields, so AOEs which is pretty heavy for the server too (its the biggest problem for skill lag in WvW).
Stop complaining guys and be glad it was not just removed from the game or something like that.
I do agree the CD is a bit long but meh, better than nothing.
Maybe that’s why they said that we would like Scarlet at the end of her LS arc : maybe she will kill Trahearne and then hara-kiri -

They said they (most of them) would come in the big feature only patch following the 4 LS updates.
So that should mean on March 18th, but for some reason they evaded the question and did not want to confirm.
What’s sure is that LS Scarlet arc will end with the 4th of March and that after that, there will be a pause for the LS.
And then, there will be the big feature only patch. But maybe they could decide after March 4th to stop updates during 1-2 months to prepare that patch.
You can add MH Sword for Ranger is better than GS DPS wise.
It’s a pretty complicated issue since there are some people who prefer to blast/leap … in other people’s fields.
For instance, imagine a hammer guardian spamming #1, and allies using fire or water fields … as this dude, I would prefer to blast fire or water field rather than to have kittenty AOE retaliation :P

You did not understand. It does not mean you’ll have 10% less crit damage. It means your DPS will be 10% lower than it is currently. So it probably means a loss of something like 30-40% crit damage.
I think there’s no detail simply because there won’t be anything else at all, just those 2 things for LS and a few bugfixes for sPvP.
Yup, but they are too lazy to work on all that.
It’s just so much easier to just nerf everything, bring everything down again and again.

That’s exactly the same here. As somebody said, there can only be one “best”, that’s how English works yes, optimal = best.
Does not mean at all that other stuffs are not viable, they’re just not optimal.
I also agree with buffing rampager to be about as powerful as assassin, but others should be a bit behind.
Also, to people who think that everything is faceroll with zerk, just go full zerk and try your luck to see if it’s as faceroll as you claim.
You can try against dredge for example :P
