I have been, myself and the guild I have joined have spent hours going over every possible aspect of the issue, they have even helped me clear events and such to lvl while I was barely able to connect.. like I said the game and people are good, it’s the lack of customer/tech support. Infact I still don’t see any evidence it even exists at all..
Usually, lag issues (whether it is internet or your computer) is usually on the player side. A good way to check this is to ask others on the map or in the same dungeon whether they’re experiencing any lag too.
I usually play very smoothly in most of the game though sometimes when I do AC dungeons, I experienced very severe lag (and I have a suspicion that it is the SoS server for the particular ac dungeon which bugs out either for me only or for random players, I notice if I get other ppl from other servers to start it, the lag is gone).
Anyways back to the point, Anet has great customer service, don’t buy into the hate that people give on these games. As people have said, these people are a minority and will are spoilt unreasonable players who will do anything to taint their name. Anet has a few bugs here and there and I agree that some of them should have been addressed by now given it is half way into the year. However, most of the big ones have been address and I sincerely hope the coming Jan/feb update, will iron out most of the remaining bugs and not just introduce new content.
maybe try play the game at a friends house? see how it runs there? I personally can run this game on low settings on my average speced laptop just fine (I notice after I reformat it ran even smoother!) If you’re really looking for a refund, from what I’ve read, this company has an excellent no hassle refund response too.
I would avoid Sea of Sorrows, i joined because im a Aussie but currently the server is dead, hardly anyone plays anymore.
I think they need to start merging servers.
Lol what?
Oh, I think it’s important to not choose the server because they’re winning but choose one that fits you. (timezone, style, etc)
End of comment.
Yeah, I never really had trouble with thieves. How do I put it, they’re more of like a pest then OP. Most of them are play very cowardly and their burst damage hurts themselves more % wise then it hurts me. In fact, most of the time I just wait for for a thieve to try backstab me knockback, stun bam bam, either they’re almost dead and they invis off or I have downed them . Lately though I’ve grown an interest at knocking them off edges in JP puzzle
. I find d/d eles much harder to deal with.
Once again I tried to make the rest of the clovers I need for my legendary. But again, I spent 36 globs of ectoplasm, and didn’t got one single clover.
We were told there were 33% chance of getting one clover (every 3 tries, we could get at least one), so I started by making 3 tries that ended up in none clover.
Next I tried my luck in gambling 10 ectoplasm, which got me any clover as well.
I decided to try another 10 and then again, nothing.
One last try, I tried 3 other tries and still got any clover. Can you explain why it doesn’t work for me?
I’m almost complete at every step to have my legendary but I’m still stuck at the clovers. Is there any problem with the recipe or my account is really unlucky?
Stick with the 1 recipe, seriously. I guarantee if you used all 36 ectos with the 1 recipe, you would have at least got 10-12 back. The reason you got none is because you used the 10 ecto recipe. Theoretically it’s the same % and thing but there are several reasons why this recipe shouldn’t be used.
1. You have a higher chance of being left with a stack of more worthless t6 mats
2. The 10 ecto recipe requires you to have a higher pool of sample size in order to feel the 33 % chance. So if you had a bad luck streak then you could very well get no clovers after spending 30 ectos. That is why the 1 ecto recipe is better in this sense. I have made all my mystic clovers and you will see that statistic doesn’t lie. It really isn’t RNG for mystic clovers since you know its a 33 % chance and that if you chucked in 100 ectos you will most likely get about 33 in return. I find I usually am a little luckier and I get about 35-40 back so I beat the % by a tiny bit.
Anyways, stay away from that 10 ecto recipe unless you’re planning to do like at least 200-400 ectos at once.
Anticipation and keeping your eyes open helps a lot I think
Numbers are important but without a good leader, the zerg just falls apart. Besides, I’ve seen quite a few good counter zerg or well organized defenses.
As for benefits, there are some small gathering/hp/gold etc bonuses from wvw. It’s not much but it benefits the whole server.
just grab anything which doesn’t die instantly and doesn’t move around in weird patterns(I’m looking at you, d/d ele!)
Even a ranger skilled for pet torpedo would make a nice commander.
“FOLLOW THE PET!”
“CHAAAARGE!”
“erm… chief, how should we follow it when it just climbed that wall?”What I’d be more concerned about is the RACE to pick as commander.
For example, screw Asuras, you aren’t going to be seen like that.
Grab a Charr or Norn, they can be easily spotted, especially when they have a huge blue icon floating above their heads.
Eh? I think asuras are fine, people are more focused on the icon rather than the sprite itself. SoS EB commander runs with a afro asura which I’ve grown accustom to lol.
I think mesmers as commanders are the best, the portal ability just gives you that much more flexibility when applying your on the field strategies.
Whats with this mindset? Legendary is the final goal… end game… I plan to craft a legendary, in fact, I can afford to craft twilight but i’m choosing not to? Why? because I don’t feel the need to do it as soon as possible. I find other contents in the game whether its PvE or WvW or PvP still rather satisfying, whether its repeating previously explored content or finding new things.
If you do like 4 dungeon paths within 2 hours you hit DR. Not sure how long it takes before you lose DR (like somewhere between 15 min – 1 hour) But ye, take an hr break before you do the other two again and it should be fine next time.
I just wanted to bump this up again, I did ac today, first path was fine, then 2nd path, everyone was lagging. We’re all from different servers and countries so I don’t think its coincidence that all our net was dying. Also one of my party members lives with me and she didn’t lag the same times as I did ( she didn’t lag most of the time but a bit near the end)
Exotics don’t all sell for 4g.

Thing is, a real no nonsense speed runners should have proper communication. I greatly dislike pugs who join and don’t say anything even though they’re being directly spoken to. Communication is so important for a successful pug. I for one used (haven’t lately because busy) to run these kind of speed gold runs but I try to be perfectly friendly as possible. Usually, when someone joins I say hey, hello or sup. This is like my first test, usually if I get a response from the majority of the group, then it’s usually a good indication that this group is heading in the right direction. Bad players are not the ones who are inexperienced. It is the ones who don’t listen and worst of all, ignore communication completely.
Unfortunate, they should have dealt with it more openly, told you the reason or what was happening instead of straight up kick.
PS: your username is so similar to mine :p
I brought a rabbit into my household… both of cats died.. true story

No, all grinding are optional esthetic gear at this stage. There is a small grind with fotm but only in terms of fractal level which is not inhibiting you from experiencing the content.
Legendaries are not meant to be acquired quickly. Else, everyone would be welding one and these weapons will lose it’s uniqueness.
reminds me of the wow episode in south park.. haha
There are revealing clothing in this game, just most of them are used to death.
It bothers me how people immediately say things like ANET knows they’re wrong etc that’s why they gave the refund. As far as i’ve known, Anet will give refunds for your game for any reason if you asked, it’s not the first time someone has asked for a refund and got one and it won’t be the last. Banning those players and automatically giving them a refund means Anet was serious with their message. We do not tolerate or negotiate with exploiters.
huh what wait, you shouldn’t have lost any progress at all if you had simply disconnected? I think the server had a reset earlier due to login problems and update so you lost your progress because the latest save they used on the server was while you were at 92 %. Unfortunate indeed but at least you didn’t find a precursor during that period and then got rolled back out of it
Mm, anet should really consider multiple factors before they nerf certain things sometimes. These are all very good points, especially the need of an underflow server.
I don’t think they’re going to implement ascended weapons anytime soon. That post was before they found out how bad implementing ascended gear was in the open world and they have said they will not do this anytime “soon”. However, I do agree with the unnecessary need for a gear progression to be present. If they did want to implement a gear progression then they should make uglier or plainer looking ascended gear very easy to obtain (if not free, that’s too much to ask eh) but hold the same stats. Again, grinding for more esthetic gear and having a significant advantage because you have better gear is two different things. If they could separate these two entities properly and it can be easily done by the method I have just mentioned (similar to how pvp is run) then there would be no reason for people to complain.
Eh, I find official forum the most up to date although I agree the majority of the discussions which go on here have been beaten to death over and over again eg. trinity, gw2 is nothing compared to its predecessor, thieves are OP and etc. I do keep up with other unofficial forums but it’s just as unconstructive there but they’re more easy on you and you don’t risk a temp ban if you’re being inconsiderate or a troll. Personally, if you be a well behaved player and no post dedicated to attack a player then the official forums are fine. Unfortunately, most players who post on this forum are not that type of people.
Well i’ve played for 1200+ hours and never had an exotic drop (I have got one or two from a chest though but never the dragon chest which I regularly do). I just sigh and move on lol
Just to mention here, the guardian reflect/absorb projectile skills don’t all absorb reflect the same stuff. i.e. the 5th skill on scepter barely absorbs anything, the summoned shield absorbs tonnes of different projectiles and the wall of reflection is somewhere in between the two.
The only thing I agree with is RTL needs a slightly higher CD. It’s rather frustrating to vs them with my necro but giving me a chance to run would be nice lol.
My only wish is that DS didn’t remove my ability to cast normal skills… like activating F1 would temporarily open options in f2 f3 f4 f5 (with attack skill changing our usual auto attack skill). In order to not have conflicting animation, they can just not show any animation of other skills while in DS mode (but you still have to channel/cast time etc)
Quick Note:
GW2 Spidy is not hacking, they are not doing anything illegal, it’s a fantastic site.May I use similar method to obtain automated info to use in an out of game notification tool?
Hmm, to my understanding is.. as long as you’re not injecting any code into the gw2 game to do this and hold no unfair advantage over others, it sounds fine.. though I have no idea how spidy works but it’s fabulous!
Wonder if John Smith has seen The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi
People associate anything that is similar to WoW and associate it as clone. It’s like apple suing everyone because their phones are rectangle. Then we have the people who say anything that’s not similar to wow is crap eg. the phone isn’t rectangular so it’s crap.
standing is better for the body, our body was never designed to sit for long periods. Standing will decrease our mortality rate but…
I’m willing to give a few years away to be able to sit for the next 50 yrs xD
My biggest issue with my hate towards the TP is the fact that the developers have said they adjust drop rates based on the TP.
Drop rates SUCK.
source?
I highly doubt this is the case.
Yes, I would like to see the source of this too, it’s like people like to make many false claims all the time just to give them a bad name.
Why do people always say “zomg so expensive, they’re forcing us to use cash shop!!!”, it’s like buying gold is the auto option when an item is of high value…. that is totally not true… for this mmo or any mmo, or are people so used to buying gold illegally that when this option is risky in this game this is the natural conclusion?
Because melee players are generally better players….if the other range classes would play their class properly as a whole, maybe this would decrease
Gigantus is easy… it is all player coordination and skills so… polish up your dodges and timing.. We’ve all seen the warrior solo gigantus and personally, I can take on gigantus for a good 5-10 minutes without downing (though killing him solo might by pushing my concentration to the max)
Path 4 seems doable, as people have said, it’s just stealth so use poison on that area to reduce the healing rate while others lure the sparks? Personally I haven’t done it though but there are enough people who have to show that it’s not that bad with some talent.
Great job Anet!! (no sarcasm). We need to set a good example and ground for future exploiters to think twice. As the chinese say, kill 1, warn a hundred
I think they should reduce the price of exotic gear on karma vendors and give us ascended gear for the current exotic price, considering they nerfed all the fun ways to karma into the ground.
They really should get to this pretty soon though. If they release expansions at the same pace as GW1, it won’t be too terribly long before we see the first expansion. And since they already announced that they definitely plan to increase the level cap in expansions, it would make all this gear null and void and we’ll have to start a brand new gear grind at max level again a la WoW.
Would be a bit much to hand us alternative ways of getting ascended gear only to make it all worthless within a couple months after.
Wow.. really? they’re going to increase the level cap?
Well I might as well stop playing then, because I purchased Guild Wars 2, because it wasn’t like WoW that it constantly upped the level cap, and just gave out new gear.
And “Casual players” could never keep up with the majority of the elitist crowds unless they had really good friends that pulled them along.Wow.. really? they’re going to increase the level cap?

These are completely unconfirmed speculations. If Anet knows anything better now, is to not tamper with the levels, for now at least.
Oh, as for ascended gear, I think they did mention in future updates, more methods of obtaining these gear will become available.. and eventually…. they probably want to put ascended gear as a proper tier.. or not.. depending on how the public react. At the moment now, the stats given by ascended gear are superior but as long as they limit it to accessories it is unnoticeable.

how about the ping time? That’s why in GW2LFG they don’t allow cross country server grouping. Do you imagine somebody running a dungeon with you with 500 ping?
Though the questions should be – why does Asia and Australia not get their servers? They connect to either European servers or American servers and have bad ping.
Another thing would be a language barrier. There’s specific servers that have their native language in Germany, French, etc (for not English speakers)
I’m from the oceania region and my latency is fine o.o… In fact, until recently, I’ve never experienced any lag in this game before.
Well to be fair, having a sale doesn’t mean you have to buy things… it’s like.. if the electronic I was eying out happening to be on sale during new years, it doesn’t mean I have to buy it. I mean I would want to buy it but it by no means is a call from the company them give them my money.
I see it more as, its new years, they kindly give us a sale, but there’s nothing I want from it so moving on and not GRRRRR they put their gem items on sale! now I have to buy it!! GRRRRR evil anet!!! GRRRRRR why put items on sale!!!
My biggest problem with thieves is not so much on their stealth ability but the amount of people who play this class with the intention of pure glass cannon but due to having insufficient player skill themselves, end up being just glass no cannon. While in wvw/pvp, these classes at best are a annoyance to me (they come out of hiding hit me once, I smash them up a bit, they go invis and run off to safety rinse/repeat) in pve, their incompetence is much worst. I’ve had so many parties where these glass cannon thieves (even warriors!) come in to do a very basic dungeon and have a average dying/down rate of at least 2 per minute while in combat!
Seriously guys! if you haven’t adopted the familiarity with your class yet, play something with higher survivability!!! I always say, alive dps is good dps! when you’re getting better at your class, slowly switch to a more dps orientated build and see how you do. If you’re downing like mad every 10 seconds, you’re doing it wrong! (then people run here and complain that its not trinity system blah blah, in trinity the tank would hold all the aggro and I could glass cannon all I like without getting hit)
So what the OP is saying…. because people are not forced to interact with each other, you’re not interested in this game. Interesting, now I see why other games never interested me since they forced me to interact with others against my will.
I’m sure anyone who does it thousands of times and is earning significant amount of money in a short time on a “new recipe” knows this is an exploit… anyone in the right mind in the first place would sense that something is not right.
The common mindset of these people is that, i’ll exploit it as much as I can, then i’ll share it with the general public, that way, with enough people doing it, surely they can’t ban us all. In fact, many people who learned of this recipe initially (the honest ones) asked on forum whether it was an exploit since it seemed “too good to be true”.
You see what i’m getting at? Obviously, the most predominant defense is that Anet shouldn’t have made this mistake in the first place thus it should not be a player fault if this exploit is present. But in reality, it’s impossible to have a perfect game and Anets definition of exploit is already very lenient already. They only target the players who did enough to damage the market. The guys who did it a hundred or so times probably got away with it fine when they “profited enough”. Those other people got too greedy and those are the ones who got banned.
Personally, I knew about this exploit from day 1 and I never even bothered to try it.
Yes! I was about the post exactly the same thing! I was lagging so hard when I was in the area of plains of asford and in the dungeon! I thougth it was the internet but I found everywhere else like LA, Frostgorge sound I was playing without any lag at all. I also notice significant lag in heart of the mist.
When I say lag, i’m not saying normal lag, it’s like 30 second delay and I can still see people killing a boss when its been long dead. Also, chat seems to not be affected by lag since I can still talk to my party members real time..

5. Anonymity creates no rivalry…which to me is a big part of the PvP fun in an MMO…wanting to hunt specific people down.
Disagree 1000%
ANet did it right by making enemies unable to talk to each other. Last thing I want is some kid with an attitude paging me about how I suck, or how he’s going to kill me after I just killed him.Wow. Someone needs to go back to school and learn the meaning of the word Anonymity. The poster was talking about being able to know who you are fighting by presenting their name on the screen other than “so and so invader” .
He was stating his own opinion on what would happen if names displayed. Nothing to do with the original posters anonymity definition.
My 5cents to this is, I used to WvW, then they implemented the in combat = death system which was super silly so I have played much less because of that now. They could have simply went with a timer like 10 second log out if in combat as many games have used and very successfully but no, they had to do it this way and with a lot of players suffering this penalty because not of their own incompetence, but the games incompetence (permanent in combat or unaware they’re still in combat after taking a little fall damage or d/c issue while in combat. ) I don’t mind dying as a result of players, but to die to the system…
That’s because leveling was never the biggest aspect of the game. It’s one of the things Anet got right by not making getting to lvl 80 a huge power curve.
*However, given that they said they would scale ascended gear with legendary, i would assume if a level cap was raised, the current legendaries would be given a raise too. *
We have assumed (based on the information from the devs) for the long time that there will be no new tiers above exotics as well. In the end we got told, that while they did indeed might have suggested that, they never actually said it out straight, so they don’t feel bound by it. The same situation is now – the only thing they said out straight is that the legendary tier will always be equal to top tier. It does mean that the current legendaries will be bumbed up a tier, but it does not mean that their levels will be adjusted as well.
Since November 15 it became really important to analyze semantics in developer quotes, bacause it’s obvious the devs consider those very, very important.
If they did this, it would go against their so called end game “I believe there has been no change to our philosophy regarding end game gear. We have learnt lessons for sure which is one of the main advantages of a live game and no doubt we will learn lessons moving forward.” Thus suggesting that an end game gear does exist and not a “temporary” end game gear. Of course, it is Anets game in the end, so if they wanted to change this, the only thing we can do is leave.
This whole argument is only possible because during the interview, the guy mentioned that raising the level cap is possible in gw2 whereas it wasn’t in gw1 lol. However, given that they said they would scale ascended gear with legendary, i would assume if a level cap was raised, the current legendaries would be given a raise too. (I think for Anet’s own good, they know by now all too well that raising the level cap is not a smart move, likewise they did with the ascended gear approach they initially were prepared to implement). Besides, giving us 10 extra levels would be completely pointless except for completely destroying what is left of their philosopy.
It’s sad how people make optional content sound like it’s compulsory and things you’re entitled to because you participated.
dungeon ranks:
1. Guardian, after talking to guardians and watching them in action and so on they are very clearly at the time without question.
2. Mesmers, the utility, and distractions via clones make them very hard to beat <my personal favorite by far
3. Warrior, damage… (can be moved up to #1-2 for certain dungeons, Eg. AC)
4. Theif, party support/stealth combined with damage is extremely good
5. Necro, aoe, minions, conditions (which benefits other classes that sort of have some conditions, but ignore them in favor of another stat) and survivability
6,7,8. engi/ele/ranger just don’t notice much effect from themGeneral pve:
1. warrior everything basically gets 1 shotted
2. theif, less survivability, more damage than guardian
3. necro, good survivability lacks damage of theif
4. guardian op as kitten, but doesn’t kill as fast as others
5. ele, great potential damage, often wasted though
6. ranger all rounder pet makes it nice, not as much kill tagging capability as ele
7. engi, actually tied with range due to aoe , i’ve not much experience with them..
8. mes. low damage, next to zero kill taggingpvp.
1. Mes, only by a narrow margin.
2. Necro, can often kill mesmers, MM’s are scary, wells are deadly as hell when used in the right hands
3. Theif, VERY VERY close second/third great utility and party-support, stealth makes them hard to kill, they can apply pressure and often assassinate key targets with relative ease
4. Eles, they make great bunkers and great roamers lots of damage, lots of survivability, and utility to spare, easy to target however, unlike theives (due to stealth), mesmers (due to clones) and necro’s (due to minions or their natural positioning within groups)
5. guardian, meditation is the only way to go from my perspective, those who try for bunkers tend to be absolutely terrible at everything and fail hard, meditation provides great mobility and just keeps you in ur opponents face all of the time
6. Warrior, excellent burst damage, if you can catch someone, they will die.. keyword being… if
7. Rangers, recently with alot of sword-based builds they’ve started to show up in tournaments and play excellently, i was tempted to say 8
8. engi’s generally unwieldy, they’re not discounted they’ll still destroy alot of the other classes in several area’s, they’re just seemingly weaker than one would expectwvw:
1. ele dat aoe finally gets used to it’s fullest potential
2-3-4. theif/necro/ranger all have great range and aoe, theif you will almost always see near your spawn point where they will be picking off lone players, necro’s and rangers just finally get to use their range/survivability and aoe to their fullest potential
5-6-7-8 engi/mes/war/guardian, guardian’s i’ve heard are amazing, but i just don’t see it, warriors have excellent single target damage i myself frequently pick off lone players with the rifle (12k+ kill shots anyone?), engi’s similar to guardians, heard they’re good, i’ve not witnessed it, mes’s were absolutely amazing until the phantasm line of sight nerf… they suddenly became next to useless in my opinion, i’ve heard they’re still amazing particularly reflection-based, but again.. not witnessed.I’m sorry but these are horribly wrong and probably biased views. If you want an insight on the professions you should experiment for yourself.
says the man in in a very quick (and probably biased opinion with absolutely no reasoning) ok good sir, care to state your opinions?
(noting that mine was very clearly an opinionated piece, with the noteable exception of pvp, that’s tried and true)
Ignore him, I agree with mostly what you’ve said. Though to the OP, I truly think you should consider playstyle more than “current most OP best profession”. I personally play guardian and love it while my thief… even though it’s very good in wvw it just wasn’t the profession for me.
Worst profession at the moment appears to be grenade engineers due to their uncalled for nerf at the cost of being able to use sigils lol.
It’s easier to farm onyx cores and lodestones in dungeon than on earth elementals imo. I also highly doubt they’re tied to TP the drop rates though I do suspect that drop rates in the game can be manipulated freely without notice or new builds.
