So first off, for those who don’t know what it is.
“Inspecting gear” is a feature where you can check anyones gears in a UI. By right clicking or something else.
My view on this:
It would make it easier to check out someones gear if you’re curious. You wouldn’t have to link every piece.
But then again, It would also increase the level of “gear checking” for dungeons, etc. At that would pollute the community. “You must have x gear to enter this group”. Just like the “You have to be warrior to join this group”, only worse.
It would also make it easier to bash somone because of their gear.
These are the only things i can think about when it comes to this topic.
So, i ask you.
Should it be implented? Or not? Give us your opinion!
This will lead to this sort of situation:
Person A: Uh hum, I see you’re not wearing a berserker exotic gear instead you’re wearing a knights exotics gear. In my opinion this is not good enough and you will be letting the team down.
Person B: I’m wearing knights gear because it synergises well with my traits, I actually will be doing the same/similar if not more damage in the big picture wearing these gear.
Person A: No you are wrong, I am party leader so i’m always correct. Berserker GOD rwar rawr awr. RESPECT MAA AUTHORITYYY
Person B: …. whut?
Thus the elitist syndrome: Thinking you know better than another player because you’re a 1337.
Also, lack of gear inspection also promotes privacy and basic social skills. e.g. if I or someone likes me armor, I would pm them (they pm me) and ask what i’m wearing. I would then kindly link them this armor and we would have a small chat and thank each other and be on our way. Whereas inspect gear would just be, right click, oh thats the armor and it would feel like you kitten them without them even knowing :o
(edited by Lafiel.9372)
Earliest pic I could find with showed what I was wearing :/
Then I became this…
Then it worked properly and became this..
And finally I went to the dark side and became this…
It hasn’t happened to me yet in this game luckily, guess i’m always in hiding or look poor. In some darker countries, people get their limbs cut off by big evil organizations and kicked out there to beg for pity money.
I just want to be able to get my chest for dragons.. is it really that much to ask..
I’ve been meaning to make this topic for a while now, but I feel like it’s even more relevant in light of recent updates.
For those of you who don’t remember (and if you don’t believe me you can check) before the November update this forum was full of endless topics about how there is no “end game” in GW2 and this game “needs” a gear treadmill to keep people interested. And guess what? We got it.
Which lead to an interesting situation that looked a lot like a case of “be careful what you wish for” where the endgame/treadmill threads were replaced with (IMO a smaller number of) threads raging about how Anet have ruined the game forever and broke their promise in doing so.
But I suspect, given the number of people I see doing and talking about Fractals (positively) it’s actually that we had two groups – one who desperately wanted this and are now happy and focused on playing the game mode they wanted and another who didn’t want it and are still here raging about how they were lied to.
Now I’ve never played Fractals and I have no plans to do so any time soon. I have no interest in vertical progression and certainly not in the form of a gear treadmill. In theory I got absolutely nothing from this additional content, but I’m happy that it’s there.
Why?
Because Anet saw that a significant portion of their playerbase wanted something and they gave it to us. Even though it was something they themselves were not in favour of and had intended to avoid.
And I take that as a very good sign because it means they’re likely to do it again with other issues. In fact they already have. Not too long ago there was a thread with over 100 replies about dailies being boring and how people wished it would change like the monthly. And we got that too.
Then there were complaints that people were “forced” to grind things they would never otherwise do (like gathering and, ummm dodging) and should be able to pick what they did for the dailies. And now we’re getting that too.
I’d make some joke about asking for unicorns that shoot rainbows but they beat me to it.
And personally I think Anet did a kitten good job of sticking as close to their manifesto as they could whilst still giving players what they wanted. Fractals is pretty much a circular grind – you don’t need Ascended gear unless you want to play the higher levels aka the things that give you Ascended gear.
I have to admit I am slightly worried that one day they’ll also listen to the people who (jokingly I think) said everone should be given a fully geared level 80 of each profession and a full set of legendaries when they create their account. But I think that’s unlikely and I’d take what we’ve got over a lot of companies who seem dead set on giving their fans what they think we should want rather than what we’ve asked for.
They did want to implement it originally though. As things are now, it’s great, I can handle just accessories, rings and amulets and back pieces. However, if they start implementing armor pieces and weapons….. then it’s another thing. Even if they offer cheap upgrade alternatives like the triforge pendant…
For one, gear checks will most likely never be implemented. Second, a lot of people actually don’t care what armor people run with, as long as you don’t suck.
That’s nothing like what I said. No one is going to deny that Guild Wars 2 isn’t 100% free market, it doesn’t sound like you know what I’m even talking about.
When you say something like…
The price of gems has been confirmed to be completely controlled by ArenaNet
You’re implying that they directly set the gem cost. They say "100 gold = 100 gems, and that’s that. That is “completely control” of the price.
They obviously do not do that. We’re all confused as to how did you jump from “GW2 isn’t a free market” to “Anet completely controls gem prices.”
I already apologized for not clearly expressing my thoughts, I meant “ultimately” not “completely.”
We’re all confused as to how did you jump from “GW2 isn’t a free market” to “Anet completely controls gem prices.”
No one should be confused by that, everyone can see that I posted one before the other, not the other way around. I realized I needed to better explain and I did.
You can only say, ultimately, anet can control the gem price indirectly. i.e. they can shift the market depending on patches, fixes, new content etc. But what they’re not doing is… hmm price for gold to gem ratio is too high, lets make it lower, which is what you’ve been heavily implying based on what you said.
Mesmer or Warrior?
Post which out of the 2 classes and list your reason.
What about for FoTM Dungeon?
Warriors in general perform better regardless of player ability since they’re easier to play. So warriors if you’re talking about it in general. Mesmers on the other hand are very very lethal and effective on the right players or can be downright near useless in the wrong hands. (bottom line though, they’ll still be able to chuck down a time warp)
In general, I feel greatswords are more effective on warriors than guardians in PvE. (Having said that I have a guardian and dislike warriors) Hammer is a much more effective weapon for guardian. However, in terms of practicality in pvp/wvw, I find GS much better for guardians comboed with a hammer.
It’s kinda sad to see it nerfed like that though. Why against the farming hmm… it’s a necessary part of the game :/ (I never even mined that ore tho but it’s sad to see it go even if I didn’t take advantage of it lol)
There is a kid swinging on the trees?
The boy that will never grow… he’ll always be that age.. no matter how many years pass..
(edited by Lafiel.9372)
This sounds like a significant bug, I will keep track of my stats from now to check this out.
Multiboxing with program which allows you to emulate multiple systems is pretty much botting. Like those bots who used to stack like 20 players on top of each other and farm straits areas. It’s pretty surprising to watch too.
This sounds related to the dragon chest bug…. Seems like DR isn’t functioning correctly at all…
Think about it this way, everytime they relist an item eg. 750g, thats like 38g gone from listing fee. If no one buys it, either he keeps it at that price forever or he has to bring it down to a lower price
He loses money and we win. Players need to learn to be patient, don’t let greedy people push them around, you don’t need this! its a luxury item! i’m not paying that much for it! Remember, you’re the customer, the money and power is on you!
Technically, we do not win when the person looses the listing fee. It’s removed from the game completely.
Plus, a person who can buy off a 500+ G item and list it for a higher price would not mind 40G lost for the pure reaction from players such as yourselves.
Lol, I have no reaction to it though, I have long left the legendary chase. What i’m suggesting is to other players in general. And really, this kind of behavior replicates in reality as well, the kind of people who always need to get a product on release day, games, the latest tech, iphone, ipad. Those are the people willing to pay the extra 600 bucks. Me? i’m the guy who waits 6months to a year, wait for the price to plummet to almost bottom or the price I think this product is worth, THEN maybe i’ll buy it. I have the patience to wait. So really, no it doesn’t bother me at all whether they relist it to as high as they want and that people still buy it. All I want to recommend to players is, don’t fall into this trap. As a consumer, don’t let the suppliers bully you this way.
As fight club famous quote is “the things you own end up owning you”.
In a sad way, bots fight against market manipulation by helping us keep the prices down haha.
The price of gems has been confirmed to be completely controlled by ArenaNet, who confirmed it, ArenaNet, in a previous post in this forum. I don’t know if the number of people purchasing gems has anything to do with it.
What post would that be?
“there has never been a completely free market in any MMO, patches and fixes modify markets.” – John Smith
That statement would include Guild Wars 2, earlier in the thread you had asked, “Out of curiosity, how many feel that a 100% free market would be a good idea?” Which of course would mean that Guild Wars 2 is not 100% free market, that makes sense but since ArenaNet controls our accrual of gold completely that would mean that ultimately ArenaNet controls the gem prices.
It would also appear the post you linked was made a month or so after I had left that thread and was made to address some confusion. Like many others, I misinterpreted what you had said earlier in the thread.
I apologize for not clearly expressing my thoughts in my initial post.
Er, wow, you just made a huge amount of assumptions based on a very vague statement and questionnaire.
Here lemme give you an example of what you just did:
Person A: Kittens are usually brown but in rare occasions it can be white.
Person B: WHAT? Are you saying all kitten is white and that brown kitten doesn’t exist anymore!!!
Person A: No no, i’m just saying that although kitten is mostly brown, sometimes depending what you eat and stuff, it can turn white, but its rare I mean they can also be yellow too.
Person B: WHAT?, now you’re saying kitten can only be yellow and white?! pulls hair out
Person A: err…i’m going to start a questionnaire now, out of curiosity, how many people would think yellow and white kittens is a good idea :o?
Person B: OMG, this person is the devil!!!!!! he wants all our kittens to be yellow and white!!! Unitology rwar rwar awr more pulling hair
I changed it to kittens because I wasn’t sure if using the actual word would be considered an infraction. Lol, jokes aside, my point is, you’ve taken a statement totally out of context and made huge assumptions based on something they clearly did not mean.
Think about it this way, everytime they relist an item eg. 750g, thats like 38g gone from listing fee. If no one buys it, either he keeps it at that price forever or he has to bring it down to a lower price

That’s just simply lvl 80 characters griefing low level zones?
I got to the point where I dont want to continue playing. After ~400 hours ingame, I decided to get precursor, as there was nothing else to get. Every day precursors become more expensive, so there was just no way to keep my money and buyout from TP, I simply had to try get it out of MF. Of course, after hundreds of gold, I ended with empty pocket and no precursor. Trying rares, exotics, still no success. I did not come here to whine and cry, it was my decision to try my luck.
But lets face the fact, there are basically two ways how to obtain precursor (i dont count TP). Chest and mystic forge. Chance from chest is so low that is not even worth to mention. Sure, few people got it, but waiting maybe even few years for it is not an option. Obviously the best chance to get it is via MF.
What do you think about it, is it right? I mean, if I would want to play hazard game, I would go to casino. I hope dev are happy with themselves for implenting korean random into the game. Whats worse, it’s not only problem of precursors, whole game is infected with random stuff.
We could always take the gamble of… use all our gold on MF, if we get the one then we keep playing, else we move on to a better game :o Oh, and remember to ask for your full refund
Multi boxing is only legal to the extent that he isn’t using any 3rd party software to control is alt accounts. I don’t see how it was possible for him to play two accounts effectively to steal your participation award?
To the point of the CM, other than sanctuary, you could also try ring of warding from the 5th hammer skill, I find that near the end, if the players run back and forth fast enough, and have a guy concentrated on slowing/knocking back those npcs from taking barrels, it works out eventually. Of course, global invis skills are the most useful but i’m just recommending skills useful for this encounter for each class. HP wise, it’s very party dependent, good teams will chew through the boss hp much faster than an average team.
Eh, I on SoS see quite a lot of people regardless of area :o.
Not actual kill stealing per se, but things like someone stealing aggro from a mob when you are trying to get your dodges in, or stealing a player or npc that you are trying to heal for the daily. It’s getting ugly out there.
How does one steal a revive from npc? you both get credit for it. As for dodges.. there is literally millions of mobs out there, if this one dies just find another.. a player isn’t going to stalk every one of the mobs you want to dodge with. I certainly haven’t encountered such issue. Maybe you should try a less populated area of the map?
Anet knows better than people who play gw2 don’t have partners, it would be depressing to celebrate a day where 90 % of the population would be bitter towards! I’m just joking of course, it’s a small day for me even though I do have a partner (or do I?!!) so I don’t mind whether there is an event or not
it’s good you’ve been meeting a better quality of players, here on SoS, I haven’t had the same luxury to encounter enemies as respectful. You can add people to party by clicking on them and pressing P, you’ll see “xxx invader” and that will invite that person to party. I have no idea if that is an exploit, I only learnt of it when some enemy players added me to send insults at me or to check on our location
Monsters in dead space 3!!!!!
For Science!!
nah, kitten science…this is all about the horrendous mistake I just made so that you can learn from it and hopefully avoid the same mistakes.
I just finished my Sunrise 2 days ago after several months of grinding mats, salvaging ectos, farming karma, etc, etc, etc….and I equipped it on my mesmer. Everything sounds great so far right?
Wrong. See, I really wanted the Sunrise on my Guardian main. I put it on the mesmer thinking the weapon would make me want to play it more. Big mistake. So I set off to fix this and get my beloved Legendary GS over onto my Guard. I could simply transmute it to a white, but with so many bugs with that system I was simply not willing to risk it. So I did something even worse.
I put my Sunrise into the bank, and deleted my full exotic level 80 mesmer.
Yep, I did it, thinking if the character no longer exists surely the weapon couldn’t be soulbound to her anymore. Wrong again. Oh so very wrong indeed.
And now my beloved Sunrise, my oh so many hours of work, is sitting in the bank…unable to be pulled out by any of my characters, unable to be transmuted, unable to be….anything. It just sits there, waiting for its owner that will never come back for it like a lost puppy. What a sad,sad puppy it is.
TLDR: Please just transmute your weapons or armor, and NEVER delete a character.
Learn from my kittenness….I will be for quite a long time to come as I stare at the last slot in my last bank tab.
Hmm, if you had only talked to me first, I would have stopped you! WHY WHY DID YOU JUMP! THERE WAS SO MUCH TO LIVE FOR!
I hate open world pve, particularly dynamic events. I hate having to walk around and look for them, or waiting for them to happen, as well as relying on people around me to help finish them. I also think its ridiculous I have to spend so much money just to get the salvages I need for monthly. I just want everything accessibly from LA. Can I complain now?
/endsarcasm
Cof path 2 is harder now that suicide runs are impossible. Try going for ac explo (arguably easiest of all explo), TA is pretty easy too once you get the hang of it. CM probably but except the seraph path unless you have a mes/thief to make it easier. And I don’t think its unique dungeon runs (omg the horror!) so just keep on doing Cof path 1 over and over again till you finish it.
/endconstructivepart
I hated doing cof path 2 as suicide runs, i always asked if we could do it the killing way since most of the time, people die less, and there is a small chance i won’t die! (i’m a guardian >.>… I get the immediate response of, GO SACRIFICE YOURSELFFFF FOR OUR TOKENNSSS)
Can’t wait for you to see what I’m working on now. You may never leave it.
I hope it’s as something as crazy as Mad King (or worst!) I had a love hate relationship with that one
If you haven’t done CM for months, you should try it again with a pug group ~ CM exp 2…the barrel part with a pug is painful. The problems many people face is that pugs are the only way for most players to get into these instances, not many are lucky enough to have static or constant guilds running like an army camp.
Dungeon content needs to be challenging sure, but not down right stupid or idiotic. Everyone has different ideas and tastes, in my vast experience from running dungeons/raids at varying different levels, from casually to hardcore to semi-pro levels ~ Honestly, GW2 has some which are the worst in terms of design faults.
Eh, I had a feeling it was the barrels you were talking about. It kinda requires a bit of tactics. It’s similar to the bombs in dredge fotm but they don’t pick up the bombs as fast, if you put down a sanctuary as a guardian it helps a lot. Otherwise, you should be able to outrun them over time, I don’t recall any current mechanics that would make this part game breaking (we never needed to waypoint or anything for that part, besides you’d be in combat anyways). Was there some new introduction there that I missed?
Well one thing for sure, the update fix some unimportant things and broke a lot of important things. It’s like fixing the expresso machine on a plane but then losing cabin pressure :o
Hmm, I haven’t done CM for months now but I used to farm it regularly for the tokens back in the days, the dungeon itself is not hard, I finish them without exploiting anything easily. CoE is also an easy one once you get the hang of it. Arah is a bit harder but far from poor. The bugs that are breaking the game are the ones which cause the dungeon to completely break mid way (i.e. a boss not triggering, something not doing what it’s suppose to, starting an event etc).
If the dungeons worked without these errors, the difficulty level is acceptable for all dungeons i’ve completed (which is all of them)
My most sincere congratulations
Fix achievement point exploits, make achievements part of the scavenger hunt which gives a pieces together to forge the precursor of choice. eg. 3500 achievement points for part of a piece of a precursor? Of course, to ensure this is not exploitable, make this only give you a piece out of 4 or something. Throw in another piece out there in some epic event achievement, throw out another piece buyable from NPC for a very heavy price (100-200g) and the last piece.. they can think of something creative themselves? Particularly something to do with skill? Maybe make a kinda like obstacle course in which it test our speed, endurance, skill? Like make us fight a clone? Survive a horde? hunt down a dev player in pvp and backstab him?
It’s because you guys are switching to the other two servers to farm the other dragons.
That’s 9 dragons within a 3 hour period.
Not true, I’ve never done that and I encounter this bug plenty of times.
healers just make things faceroll easy, i pretty much don’t need a mouse 99 % of the time if they were present.
When ya’ll did this “tweaking” ya’ll broke dragon DR.
The issue with the dragon chests should only effect people who park characters at dragons and don’t play them anywhere else. Is this what you are doing?
So DR also affects Fractals of the Mists?
That may be the reason for all the complains that the forum are getting about the loot on fractals…DR does not effect fractals in the same way. What players are seeing is just RNG.
Hi there, thank you so much for the response, at least I have a slight clue what is happening now, yes indeed I do park a few level 80’s at the dragon area. Is this behavior frowned upon and are you suggesting we shouldn’t do this or is this an unintended bug? (the reason people do this in the first place is because of the absurdly high wp cost lol). Also, i don’t always just park the character there, I often take them to WvW and stuff to do things (does wvw not count as a good enough map change?). And yes, even after doing some wvw, I still get a bug.
Hmm, where did he say this, I would like to find him and send him a cookie for responding to us the issue at least.
Nvm, found it, thanks

Lol, getting sandwiched between JQ defense and SoR attack while trying to take a keep is quite interesting. Nevertheless, seems like some truce has been established here. Oh well, I appreciate the difficulty of 1 vs 2, else we wouldn’t be SoS
In this virtual world, people mistake optional luxury items as necessary and call the real necessary items trash. Like anywhere, if you want something legendary, you’ll have to work an equal amount.
Economy in general is fine, if the demand were not idiots who allowed the price to go that high, the supply would never be able to support it. Obviously, the majority of precursor buyers still think that the current prices are reasonable, thats why it hasn’t gone down.
Sure, they could put false offers up to keep the price up, but if the demand didn’t give in to it, this effect would not last long. The amount of manipulation people claim there is and the amount that actually exist are two different values, just like the amount of nerfs people claim does not reflect reality.
(edited by Lafiel.9372)
congrats, but no offense… achievement points are worthless now because there is “agent of entropy” which is a fairly easy and non-costly achievement. just spend some hours salvaging things and you can get 500 points in maybe 2-3 hours.
in the future patch, officials announced infinitely achievable points will be getting nerfed, probably limited to 100-200 points. so don’t waste your time doing agent of entropy.
Well i’ve played since release and i’ve got like 68 points of on agent of entrolpy. Let see, 200 salvages per 2 achievement points, that means 200×34= thats about 6800 items salvaged. Let see, in accordance to what you said, 500 points in 3 hours.. that is 50,000 items salvaged in 3 hours. To put it in perspective, thats 277 salvages per minute and 4.6 salvages per second. Even half that is an inhuman speed unless you’re using illegal macros.
4.6 salvages per second is doable. Probably not sustainable because you need to bank and buy kits but you can salvage a stack of 250 items in less than a minute if you have the kits set up.
My point was that it’s not practical at all. In reality, you actually have to salvage faster than 4.6 salvages per second because there is down time in between each kit which is used up (even if you’re using mystic salvage kits). To add to that the price of salvaging even the cheapest salvage mats which can be stacked is about 40c per piece. that’s 1g per stack and you need 200 stacks for 50,000 salvages. That is 200g in total for a measly 500 achievement points. Let’s say if someone really had the money to waste, and they really hard to time to waste and lets use 20k achievement points as an example and 3 hours as a “reality” based achievement for 500 points. That means this guy used 120 hours of time just salvaging materials and the total for 2 million items would be no less than 8000g. Obviously, the guy who did this either exploited a bug e.g the HoM bug or had a lot of money and most likely! used a macro or did some other unknown thing.
Bad players must go, magic find stays if that’s what it really is about.
Take is slow, this game wasn’t meant to be cleared in a month, just keep that in mind, pace yourself and you’ll have fun. Don’t give in to buying gems for gold, buy it only when you think the company deserves the support from you.
Just to clarify to people. You’re not hitting DR on the dragon chest because you’ve done something before hand to get dr. It is definitely a bug related to dr and the downscaling which randomly triggers you to get this bug. Any other event or mobs will not have this problem, just the dragons. I think we should be well over 500 chest lost by now for a lot of players. Wonder if anet will even think about compensating our efforts for this. It’s safe to say, almost every single player who has killed a dragon in the last week has had this happen to them.
Greatsword Warriors are very, very good at beating the crap out of giant immobile sacks of health. This is due to the way the weapon ‘ramps up’ with Might and Vulnerability stacks. On its own Hundred Blades deals good, if unspectacular damage; once you have the train rolling, with a big stack of Might and a Vulnerable target, it is the best damage in the game.
If you are not getting a fully channeled Hundred Blades to land on recharge, or are otherwise not glued to your target beating with 100% uptime, then Greatsword loses its edge; Axe starts to surpass it pretty quickly if you’re having to roll or break Hundred Blades, and even Axe starts to fall behind Dagger Thieves if you aren’t getting Triple Chop to finish consistently.
Obviously, Warriors are very good in CoF 1, where you kill a grand total of eight mobs that present virtually no threat, and it’s just a race to beat the health out of them as fast as possible. They are still good, but do not obviously outclass Guardians and Thieves against encounters where your enemy might do things like move or deal enough damage that you can’t AFK facetank them.
I haven’t really played warrior as much but I feel a lot of their skills are intended that way… like having skills which require you to be stationary or it breaks.. thats why you have knockback and stun skills to compensate for it. While you have strong burst damage, you also require your target to be still, I think it balances out quite nicely if you’re a smart player. Though for me as a guardian, I’ve never had trouble against a warrior, especially ones welding rifles.
congrats, but no offense… achievement points are worthless now because there is “agent of entropy” which is a fairly easy and non-costly achievement. just spend some hours salvaging things and you can get 500 points in maybe 2-3 hours.

As they say, 97 % of statistics are made up on the spot.
Lol, you might have come across me tanking dolyaks for the dodge daily. I got pretty kitten when somebody came up and attacked all 5 of them. Why? There was only a few minutes left in the daily and I wanted to get it done.
Anyway, I’d totally just let people die now to get the res daily too. Once I walked up to a dead guy and he said, “rez daily?” and I replied, “yeah, dodge daily?”, he answered, “you know it”. The new GW2!
Down works too, doesn’t have to be death. It’s kinda sad in this manner that people would let someone be defeated for the sake of doing a daily. Even though this is a fantasy world, it’s not something I can just sit around and watch.
This needs to go in guardian section though I reckon
