EDIT: to see the short and sweet version, just scroll to the bottom of the second part of this post. c:
OK, OK, I’ve written a few times about the taxes in this game before, but after reading the thread about Storm increasing in price by 150g overnight, I have to wonder if it would be beneficial to reaching market equilibrium for the 5% tax to be removed- at least, on very expensive items.
The problem is that, of course, the items that always seem in most disequilibrium are the ones with the fewest supply. Let’s look at, for example, the precursor Zap:
Lowest sell: 437 g 99 s 99 c
Highest buy: 366 g 2 s 65 c
Difference: sell is 19.6% higher than buy, 71g 97s 34cOn the other hand, for an item like ectos (a highly demanded, supplied item nearing/in market equilibrium):
Lowest sell: 28 s 58 c
Highest buy: 28 s 57 c
Difference: Sells are .035% more than buy, difference of 1c.Of course, this is only a single example of two completely different items, but that’s not the point. The point is that we can expect very rare, high-demand items to be completely out of market equilibrium, and thus experience huge fluctuations when a single variable changes (i.e. supply, as in the case of Storm), and that just makes it more difficult for both suppliers and buyers.
The big problem here, then, is when prices start rising and falling, and sellers place their items on prices that are either too low or too high. With the huge tax (5% = 10g for a 200g item- that’s almost all of the money that I have :P), when prices fluctuate and you find something like Zap being +70g higher than the highest buying price, it’s difficult to have to pay the 5% tax again and get double-whammied for placing such a super-expensive item on the market again.
In summary: the 5% tax makes it more difficult for buyers and sellers to find a single price that they both like and can agree on, because it limits how many times sellers want to remove their item from the market and reprice it.
The other issue: the taxing costs are incorporated into supply, which furthermore determines the price and quantities that suppliers are going to sell their items for. When you put an item (especially a weapon or armor) on the market, there’s no guarantee that you’re going to actually sell it. Why, then, would I place a rare piece of armor I just crafted onto the TP when I think that nobody will buy it? Sure, I could wait for a few months and hope that, somewhere along the line, it’ll sell, but that comes with another cost: now, I have to consider what I could have done with the money that I would gain by vendoring or salvaging that armor piece instead, and how I would have gained from that money in the period of time that it took me to sell the item on the TP.
Here’s an example. I have, in the past, been very fond of using the disequilibrium in dye markets to make money. For example, look at the price of Blood Dye:
Sell Price: 1 g 11 s 21 c
Buy Price: 85 s 30 c
Difference: 25s 91cIf you’re online and playing right now, I’d seriously suggest that you immediately place a buy order for Blood Dye at ~85s 31c right now.
Here’s what I’ll do. First, I’ll buy at about the price previously stated. Then, as soon as I get the item (generally, most sell listing prices will stay about static within the period of time between when I place my buy order and pick up the item), I’ll sell off the Blood Dye for 1g 11s 20c (or whatever). Total profit (assuming item sells): +9s.
Not a lot, but when you repeat this with thousands and thousands of items over and over again, always pumping in as much money as you can into the TP to get extra money later, it really adds up. Plus, from a theoretical standpoint, your money grows exponentially.
So, let’s say that, for every 1s I put into the TP, I get 10% extra money back once I complete my trade. Furthermore, let’s be extremely conservative: let’s say it takes a full hour for me to get this bonus back. From a mathematical standpoint, the equation that models this is
M = 1.1^n
Where M is the amount of money I have from that 1s, and n is the number of times that I buy and sell back for my bonus money.
Thus, after 50 trades, I have a little over 117s, or 1 g 17s.
Removing tax in my opinion will cause even higher prices since now sellers are free to price however they please WITHOUT being taxed for it. I would put up storm for 1000g just for fun because I by no needs am obligated to sell it.
Putting a cap or reducing tax will not do anything. 1g is nothing for those who are putting a precursor up on the market. 5 % is little already.
Patience my young padawan.
I’m just going to guess what this rare dye you’re talking about is the unidentified dye. If that is the case, i’m just going to say, no they didn’t nerf it. The unidentified dyes you get from the merchant are the same ones you can buy or get as a drop. You have to remember, when you open one of these you’re opening for a chance of getting 1 dye out of 403. So obviously, it’s not hard to hit a bad streak where you don’t get any rare dyes at all.
You don’t need a serial code to change passwords? Just go to my account>security>type old password>make new password?
More specifically, request an account restoration.
The chest can still be looted once per character. It is only the guarantee rare portion which is limited to once per account per boss. As for people helping others. Even with the limitation in place, there will still be plenty of people doing the events because not everyone plays at the same time or in the same time zone.
Many things can be treated as a daily in this game if that is the way you see it. Dungeon tokens refreshing at daily? fotm daily chest etc? I don’t do all of those things everyday ( I don’t have the time). Anet put that choice on us, whether we decide to spend our time doing a few daily dragon for their rares or doing a few dungeons or fotm for the tokens etc.
Yes i’m starting to see your point. So if the chest is looted on an alt does it have a chance on the 2nd time it is looted of rare/exotic/precursor or no? or Just greens? This is the question i’m getting. This needs to be spelled out in clear language by ArenaNet. Why can’t it just be the way it was! This is a dumb change.
Also this seems to me like to fix one bad decision, make another bad choice. Instead of just going, opps our mistake, we will change this back to how we had it.
On your last point, yeah what members I have left, that didn’t move on, have the choice of doing the same content over & over they’ve been doing for endless months. I’m on my 5th alt & don’t even play even half or quarter as much as they do. End game content is repetitive and its a struggle somedays just to get people to group up for the “Same old thing”. Will it be WvW, Dragons, Fractals, Influence/Gold Grinding or just do dailies for 30 minutes and log.
This is GW2 major downfall at the moment.
Solve this issue & we got something. It doesn’t have to be a complete new Expansion each time. Just something new & fun to do on top of these things. More things to do as a team, without unrealistic or high grind gates.

Yes, the chest which you loot will still have a chance at rares/exotics/precursors. It is just no longer a guaranteed rare anymore. Only the account bound portion of the rare will be handed out one per boss. So in this sense, if you do it as per usual, once per char, you will have times where you get only greens/blues and others where u may get exotic or a rare. As for the account bound section, i’m confident that it is not strictly a rare and is rare and above.
Again, the chest was made too rewarding to begin with thus everyone is farming them since they’re better than doing dungeons. That is why the account bound change is necessary
Ah ha… now where getting somewhere.
Good point Lafiel.
What wonders me is why now limit how many times people will help each other kill the dragon, because someone make a poor choice of giving an Automatic Rare? That was the first poor choice that caused the whole issue.
Now instead of my team helping members & people on the server all day long kill the dragon for a chance at a rare, they are gonna do it once, get a rare and then just not do it again until the next day like a daily. Yeah lets reduce even more high end content and chance for people to help each other!
How about you can only do one fractal a day? Maybe you can only do WvW for an hour per day or if you die in WvW it kicks you and you can’t play until the next day? Maybe for crafting we can only covert 10 Ingots a day? Now where getting to some brilliant ideas! (Sooooo.. not really). Again poor decision making, lets reduce what High end content we have even more! :P
Lets add more player frustration to the game! Yeah!
I see now that adding the Auto Rare was DUMB without thinking it through! Now I see the root cause. Sorry i’ve been out sick for few weeks and came back to this issue thats got members going about what’s causing the massive lag & in-ability to loot the dragon chests.
This now has the backlash of having too few people to finish these events, because everyone got their rare the night before and now during the day not enough around to help with event.
OMG.. don’t they test or think of the effects of these types of things first?
Again… Here’s hoping,

" I was merely showing you that every action Anet has planned towards does not imply guesting is the major issue but people with many alts."
show me anything that ArenaNet actually says, you’re just giving your opinion. I’m not against anyone giving their opinion, I’m not sure your opinion that you repeatedly claim is the same as ArenaNet’s is true since you have not given any links or anything that ArenaNet Devs have ever said to support your claims.
And really there just perhaps maybe might be a slight chance that the issue might not be addressed if not addressing the issue and putting some other “fix” in place that might make more profits…
ya
you are focused on arguing about guesting… just supply some quotes from ArenaNet to back your claims. Until you do this no one will believe anything you say other than it’s your opinion.
I am focused on arguing about guesting here because the thread claims it is guesting causing the overflows/lag…. are you on the same thread as I am?
At no point have I EVER said that Anet said this or anet said that, I have only said every action they have taken “implies”.
Anet has not made an official stance on this issue else this discussion wouldn’t exist in the first place. It would be a “fact” and no discussion would be needed. I am proposing my reasoning why guesting is not the issue e.g no lag when guesting was implemented, guest are put in overflow first, no indication of guest nerf in the upcoming patch release. You don’t have to listen to what I have to say but if guesting wasn’t touched at all in this upcoming update, it is highly likely that Anet looked into it, found it wasn’t the cause, and applied a solution which would indeed remedy the problem. Again, this is my 5cents to it, take it or leave it.
To be honest, the most important change of this update is not overflows or lag or guesting, it is so people aren’t treating world events as the only thing worth doing and everything else in the game is left out. Anet wants players to be able to experience content with balanced rewards throughout the entire game world.

^ that comment doesn’t really help at all.
Firstly, if your account was compromised as you stated, they banned your account in order to “protect you” i.e. limit further amount of damage. First thing you do is not to submit a post here but it is to submit a ticket in ask a question support tab. In the ticket, clearly detail what happened and if you don’t get a response in 3 days. You may now post up here along with your ticket number so they can look up on it.
Also in the future, just get straight to the point. The title is extremely misleading and the dev’s have to read through your entire text to really understand what your issue is.
As much as they may probably enjoy your support, you’re eluding it away from what is really important at hand here.

Hi all,
Been hearing of an issue with people guesting & causing overflows & the possibility of limiting Dragon chests to one a day.
I don’t mind limits to avoid people taking advantage of the system, but don’t penalize the normal player because of the activities of some.
I don’t guest, no need of it. I play only one server with my team. To limit me to only one dragon chest a day is obnoxiously short sighted. We have only a limited amount of stuff to do at the high end, DON’T limit it further.
What’s the solution? Limit people who guest on other servers to one chest per day per account on other servers, NOT everyone on the server! DUH! Don’t limit my teams high end gameplay.
Please make a good call on this one.
Limit Guesting, not people on their main server!

http://gw2.kismetbp.comSighz…the reason guesting wasn’t nerfed is because it wasn’t guesting. It is the own home server players who are causing the overflow. Just because people all blame guesting doesn’t make it the issue. In reality, there is only a small amount of guest who actually make it to the event. Let I remind you, guest are put in overflow as a priority.
Lafiel, do you have a link to an Anet Dev saying any of this?
In my opinion, things haven’t been that bad with the exception of lag… Instead of limiting the chest to once per account per day, I would prefer a different solution.(of course, in large part because I play many alts :P)
It seems that an overflow server solution with world bosses would be better and easily implemented.
It doesn’t need to be said, there are several key evidence for this. First, if guesting was the issue, why didn’t anet simply nerf it? i.e change the way it is OR make it 1 guest per server or whatever. Secondly, guest are put in overflows as a priority as we know. Thirdly, if guesting was the issue, we would have experienced overflows prior to the chest change since they were actually exploitable at that time.
I too have a lot of alts but I applaud this change primarily because world events were becoming the most profitable thing to do and that is not what anet intended. The Reward needs to be balanced throughout for people to be spread out around the game world.
As to op, the changes are coming in the next patch (this week).
Again, think about this logically. You’re in a high tier server. Your population is huge. What is more likely, the massive amount of home players who used to be in dungeons all crowding around onto ONE map or that there is guest all over the other servers just taking over your map?
Bottomline, it has always been a first come first serve basis. If you want to make sure you get to an event, go to there and wait a bit longer like everyone else who got into the map did.
I’m on SoS, and when I hit overflow I just go meh, i’ll catch it another time. No biggie.
Lastly, however impractical it may be, I do wish they would turn off guesting for a week just to shut those people up since their own server population are plenty capable of putting themselves in overflow.
you want to end guesting just to shut the people up that say what you don’t want to hear?
“It doesn’t need to be said, there are several key evidence for this” <—-you actually said this. Sorry I will take anything ArenaNet says over you any day.
You’re just guessing. You have no idea and you offer no proof of anything that ArenaNet says. You keep giving your opinion and claiming it is what Anet wants…
wierd
I don’t want to end guesting, but Kismet suggested himself that if we ended guesting for a week we would see a significant change (i.e no overflows). If this is the only way to proof that guesting is not to issue, I am merely entertaining his idea if this is what it takes to reach a conclusive evidence on whether this is caused by guesting or not. Please don’t twist my words. I did not say I want to shut up others people’s opinion because I don’t want to hear it. I was merely showing you that every action Anet has planned towards does not imply guesting is the major issue but people with many alts and the reward made too rewarding.
Again, the chest was made too rewarding to begin with thus everyone is farming them since they’re better than doing dungeons. That is why the account bound change is necessary
Bottom line, at least I have some backing on what I’ve said compared to people who have made blatant claims that guesting is the issue here.
How bout we throw the baton of reasoning towards why guesting is the issue here and you provide me some plausible explanations why guesting IS there issue here. I’m all open ears. After all, this is a discussion thread.

Dragons don’t employ lower level mobs because they don’t provide any benefit for their army!

I can’t tell if this is troll or someone who is really really.. either way, there is nothing Anet can do for you. However, as some have mentioned above, if you can afford to buy one, you should not have trouble buying another.
I doubt name change will be implemented this patch
Fix: Allow only 1 character per account to loot chests.
? ?
A lot of people would get job offers including me if that were true (as in you being the only or first person to suggest is which I doubt)
I don’t see the sense why the titles or the skills earned are character bound. PvP levels are account bound :/
I personally still use V with a lot of success. (there is a bad thing about it i’ll get to it in a second) in later levels and especially in dungeon, dodging is a requirement. Sometimes the only way to survive is by dodging out of a aoe circle or by excellent timing of a boss 1 hit kill.
The problem with using V is you are handicapped in terms of dodging right since the key bindings don’t exactly allow you to do that with ease. Not saying it’s not possible to get used to. However, I’ve always managed to work around that with no weakness at all. I can dodge left forward and down and still have the same effect.
The problem with double tap dodge is that sometimes you wanna do fine movements and you’ll be tapping your movement keys. This can sometimes cause and unintended dodge and roll you right off.

If any change is needed to make smaller guilds more accessible to missions is by extending the time needed to kill them.
You think you’ve had it bad, we’ve had it for almost a week in SoS by some big inconsiderate guild..
“Unavailable password. You or someone else has used it before..”
Are you kidding me? This isnt a kitten DoD or Government login your protecting, its a fraking game. Im not going to sit here and try to create a unique password that Nobody else in the game is using..
Not that its any big loss, i found it hard to remain interested in it to begin with, but this pretty much as cut me off from it all together. I’m not a freaking idiot and dont need these stupid over barring security measures just because some people are too idiotic to maintain their own account security. Now you want to force me to break even my own password security measures in hopes that nobody else has the same password, or has ever used it?
No thanks.
That’s what they all say, then they get hacked themselves and first thing they point to is Anet’s security being breached. It is for everyones own good.
I’d really like to change my race since it’s a asura and all the weapons get so small and it’s already lvl 80 so i find it a waste to make another one….
So i’ve been wondering if there would be something where i can change my race with :o
Race change will never be implemented due to the conflict with personal story. Reseting your story is by no means a viable solution but just opens up to potential exploit.
Pick your character carefully when you create it or just make a new one, doesn’t take that long.

I’m just waiting for the response where a strong minded individual will spin that data into their favor in order to justify that price of ectos are indeed being controlled.
It seems too many conspiracist do not understand the purpose and limitations of manipulation just like some people who use RnG as a word which means there is no probability factor behind it.
i want The Crossing but at the moment im focusing on getting all my toons kitted out with exotic armor….
but 40g+ for anything but a precursor is silly i think
There are many things above 40g which are not precursors and look a whole lot better lol.
As far as gw1 goes, anet has always rehash old content so I wouldn’t be surprised if this halloween remains exactly the same as 2012
OMG! You’ll all be pleased to know I got my guild back! Yes, finally. Not due to Anet’s support but due to DancinWookie logging in and reverting leadership back to me! I’m so relieved i can finally do things in my guild.
I just hope this thread has helped other people not to make the same mistake and encouraged Anet to add features to Guilds to prevent this type of error ever occurring. I also hope this thread don’t get closed, as it may still help other people, especially those new to the game.
Finally thank you all for your support and understanding, it really means a lot and it was your support that kept me hanging in there this long.
Cheers and happy gaming!
Grats, glad your inactive member wasn’t entirely inactive afterall
.. Now be careful not to make the same mistake again. Hopefully anet will still implement a confirmation box. I don’t imagine it would be too hard.
Precursors have just gotten out of control. Would you drop 700 gold to buy yours, or is there a good chance of coming out ahead if you try the mystic forge?
Would you:
1) buy it off the TP
2) buy rares for the MF to try and get it
3) buy exotics for the MF to try and get it
I can tell you this much,
option 3 is more expensive than option 2.
option 2 and 3 both do not guarantee a precursor
option 1 guarantees a precursor and is lower than the average cost of getting one through MF
I’ll keep this short, it’s absolute poo.
stability-check
speed boost-check
jumping traps-check
mes portal-check
dungeon changes 3 times, consecutively in the same run and i don’t know if this is a bug, but i got knocked down consistantly through stability-broke the stun with SiO (warrior) and knocked down again. To summarize, it’s not fun to spend upwards of one and a half hours working through fracts only to hit the swamp and have the party call it. this has happened twice now the first party i was with didn’t even want to attempt it and couldn’t be bothered to rerun the 1st 2 fracts either.
Anyone got any advice on the swamp fract too that would be great
thanks in advance.
People love swamp.. swamp is like the easiest fractal ever… it’s on par with aqua fractal
After a total of roughly 600 rare lvl 80 GS, in fact as you all would guess it was a complete net loss and a waste of time.
Before you jump on me about the chances of getting it blah blah kittening blah, some people have got the precursor in less tries and people have failed at even more than 600 swords. Buying the precursor on the TP is out of the question, even the cheapest Dawn is at around 450g (lets not even mention Dusk prices). So this leaves the average person with the gamble.
So after 600 swords I got squat. Less swords have been used and people have got the precursor. Is it luck? or is there an actual % drop rate out there for these precursors? Doesn’t seem like there is to me it just appears that its fair for some players and useless for others.
Im not complaining about how long it takes to obtain a legendary, as far as im concerned every other ingredient where easy to collect. Now here I am sitting, wondering what I should do to get this precursor because the Mystic Forge just isnt workin out.
For the average person, you need to throw at least 3000-4000 rare GS into the forge to have a decent chance of being assured to get one. Needless to say, this is well above the cost of the precursor. So unless you’re feeling lucky, be prepared to lose.
Also, to clarify luck and probability, they’re related things. Saying someone is lucky just means they were lucky in terms of beating the probability. Imagine a sea of swords where 4000 GS where one of them is a dusk. The people who got lucky were the ones who had dusk early in the line while the others who were unlucky had dusk at the END of the line. If those people continued to throw GS after they got the dusk, they would most likely find themselves at a lost. Of course, just like gambling, it’s smart to leave the table while you’re winning.
The price of dawn and dusk are reasonable in terms of the price to get it in the mystic forge. There is a high chance you won’t get one even if you spend 600g on rares (that is about 1500 rare GS, approximately 400 attempts and only one 1/5 will be exotics so making it approximately 80 attempts. In exotic GS terms, it is roughly 220 exotics which is 60 attempts.
Do you see now? it may seem like you threw a lot of swords in but from 1500 GS, you’ve only had ~80 attempts. That is saying if a precursor had a 1 % drop rate (and it isn’t, it’s something around 0.3 %), you still wouldn’t be guaranteed one. If my above % from other peoples statistics is true then you’ll need to have at least 2-3 times the amount of GS to get a guaranteed precursor.
(edited by Lafiel.9372)
Ascended and exotic accessory stats are minor. The damage difference is not 20 % or 10 % its <5 %
Hi,
I recently submitted a question to support to ask about something, here are the contents “I used to have a gw1 account but I’ ve tried many times but had no luck recovering it. It seems my account isn’t even in the system anymore somehow so I’ve given up. However, a friend who used to play gw1 has offered to give me his account to link to my current gw2 account. Is that okay? I believe I still need to purchase an expansion pack on his gw1 account in order to allow me to link it (since he stop playing sometime before the last expansion) but if it’s allowed i’ll gladly pay the small price.”
I got a response something along the lines of “Hello,
I must inform you that it is a violation of the User Agreement to buy, sell, trade or otherwise transfer ownership of any Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2 game account and/or serial code. We do not sanction, authorize or assist with the transfer of accounts, regardless of the relationship of the two parties involved.
I recommend against linking the accounts together, because it could result in one or both being permanently suspended.
If you have any further questions, please contact us.
Thank you,

I only ask on this forum again because I remember reading about certain people with similar situations with either their brother or a friend not playing gw2 so they gave them their gw1 account to link and did not seem to encounter any problems. Since there doesn’t seem to be any way I can recover my own gw1 account (i’ve tried several times, it just doesn’t seem to exist even though I use the very same email as I do with my gw2 account), if possible, I would like to be able to take up my friends offer of giving me his account but if the rules say no then I can live with it.
i dont mind what others do unless affect me…well the other day i went to jormag and was put in overflow…so yeah it affect me, the local residents should not be put in overflows anymore.
You were put in overflow by your own local residents. Refer to my post above for more info.
In short, if guesting was the issue, anet would have simply removed or nerfed guesting.
Yes, I did see that post. Nevertheless, I still believe that any economic correction is a side-benefit rather than the main purpose of the change.
Main purpose or not it’s irrelevant to if you consider (or don’t) this exploiting a system for personal gain for which it was not intended.
How do you know it is not intended? Surely anet must have foresaw that if they made character bound chest and guesting servers, people will do them on their alts as well as attempt to guest to other servers to try catch events faster. They by no means are exploiting anything but playing their characters?
What they didn’t foresee is the server load, which is corrected by making the chest account bound.
A much more define line of exploit is exploiting an error on anet’s part, like the recipe for snowflake or missing zeros at a karma merchant. Using guesting as intended and as implemented seems fine to me hmm.
Can we get something similar this? either ability to click checkbox on the message you want to delete or a delete all function. My PM mailbox is filling up with “A message you posted has been moved to another forum” and it’s a real pain to delete them all one by one lol.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t the chests restricted to one per boss per character per day anyway? (And yes, I know the upcoming update will make it once per account instead of per character.) If so, how does guesting to another server to do the event there count as an exploit? They can still only get one chest per day, regardless of whether they did it on their home server or not. Unless you’re saying that somebody who did all the chests on all of their alts on their own home server is also exploiting?
The main problem that ANet is trying to fix with this update is the severe lag/culling that is occuring from too many people trying to do the world bosses. By limiting the rewards, they are aiming to cut down on the number of people present at each event, because there won’t be any reason to do the event more than once a day.
I seriously doubt that this change is because they were worried about the price of Ectos, as some people (not here) have suggested. More likely, they considered the fact that Ectos would rise as a result of this update, but they consider the trade-off for more playable world boss events to be acceptable.
It’s a mix of people not understanding the issue and blatantly blaming guesting because it’s always the immigrants who are stealing our jerbs!
and who would be doing the handpicking which players are really abusive ones ?
In previous incidents A-net has set a number and anyone over that number of abuses were punished.
No, nobody will be punished because nothing was exploited.
So you feel that using guesting (which was intended for you to play with your friends) to basically act as a server transfer to farm more event chests isn’t exploiting?
You’re not actually farming more chest, but you’re allowed to do them quicker. In fact, I believe one of the reasons guesting was implemented was to allow low population servers to do events they couldn’t do because of their low population. And it is also why the thread of where which server has a open temple of bathazar is promoted.
Being able to take every alt to do more events than you would be able to on just your own server (due to respawn times) would net you more ecto’s total. It is also faster if you do the guesting as well.
It would only be just faster if you had a few alts able to do these events.
Thus as you have said yourself, this is an alt issue and having alts is not an exploit. It is people who have worked more than others and have more level 80 characters. Therefore, the issue is having the reward too rewarding (thus the account bound change).

No, guesting is/was not the only reason for overflows.
No, the overflow problem will not be fixed with the coming update.
Effectively it should be fixed because they are reverting back to the old system but now with limitations. 1 per char and 1 guarantee rare per account. So what they’re doing is taking the old system but making it per character but with 1 rare addition. So now most people will return back to what they were doing since it’s no longer a guarantee rare per character after doing it once.
I think the TP is full of careless people who don’t check properly what they’re buying sometimes. I’ve seen cases like these many times, lvl 6x exotics being sold for 5g with buy orders for 3g while the same item but a tier up (level 80) only had a highest sell order somewhere under 3g. So why are these lvl 6x pants worth more than the same ones at lvl 80 lol.
because low level exotics are much rarer, and give you an advantage earlier. you cant craft level 6x exotics, and you seldom find them. Essentially the guy who wants to twink his charachter with the best gear and immolate low level stuff is the market. Also if you can be a level 60 with exotics, your fairly close to a level 80 with exotics in level downed areas.
While that may be true, I still find it hard to believe. It’s so easy to get from 6x to 80 so the 3-5 gold is a huge price to pay.
Recent announcements has indicate that guesting is not the issue but people running their alts are. Obviously alts is not an exploit and I would hardly think guesting is an exploit since Anet implemented the system, clearly knowing what it is capable of. It is not hard to imagine that guesting will give you more ori nodes etc and ability to do other events on other servers which you were not capable of doing before hand. Even then the numbers are limited to 2 guest servers so it’s not ground breaking at all (else Oris wouldn’t be at 7s =.=)
Event wise, anet has already made a fix which is coming up in the next patch with NO indication that guesting is at fault.
Again, I have always known that guesting is not the issue since we have never experienced overflows in SoS when guesting was first implemented (this should be the obvious hint that guesting did not cause overflows but the increases rares brought everyone out on your server to the open world, thus overflows)
Last evidence is guest are always put in overflow as a priority so when you hit overflow, it’s not because your map is overrun with guest but your own players. Ironic isn’t it.

This game is very alt unfriendsy.
I reccomend you just run a main with maybe a single other char and wait for Anet to hopefully make it more alt friendly.
Eh, it’s quite alt friendly in my opinion. It really depends how you define alt maybe? I see alt as something which is second to your main character. i.e. my main will always be the one geared first and most well geared. My alts will have good gears but not have the newest top of the line goodies straight off release. Personally, i’ve been able to gear at least 3 of my alts with ascended accessories and full exotics ( and different exotic armor sets/weapons for different situations. The only thing my alts don’t have is the ascended amulets and maybe the fractal capacitor. my last 2 level 80s are currently still in the progress but it is by no means hard to gear an alt appropriately with exotics. The total cost is usually around 20-30g in gold to gear in exotics and maybe 1 week of dungeon runs if you don’t want to buy the exotic armor. You can also get most accessory type items via karma merchant which I have in abundance.
Assuming you love to run fractals all the time its not so bad. If you dont however love to run fractals all the time and need to use the heavily gated and super alt unfriendly laurel system it will take you over a year and closer to two years to earn enough larels to outfit all your toons with ascended accessories, and thats assuming you just use the 5 provided slots it will take longer if you have more toons.
And they havent added ascended armor/weapons yet, when they do i could easaly see it taking 5+ years to outfit all alts using laurels.
Thing is, ascended gear isn’t exactly necessary for alts though. If you geared it with full exotics, you are only a few % weaker than someone with full ascended accessories. I don’t play fotm a lot, I have grown bored of it but I don’t find it to be too tasking to get the rings at least.
As I have said before, that is why alts are called alts and mains are called main. You can’t expect all alts to be geared at the same level as your main even though full exotics are pretty much 99 % of the way there.
You know what’s really not alt friendly? Most other mmo’s.

And it’s heads!!! I also agree with what O kitten aying if what he is saying is he doesn’t want gw2 to become a wow killer cause that means all the drama kittens and kids will swamp on gw2 and destroy our “overall” good community.
That, and they’d screw things over with their constant cries for nerfs since GW2 actually tries hard to kick you in the balls and rub it in your face that you failed – Unlike WoW where everything is coated in bubblewrap.
Danananananananana BATMAN!
Weird my paragraph is missing words even though when I click edit it’s all there..
oh okay i get it, it’s because OP used with is saying makes a certain word which gets censored. Silly. lol

A bunch of bosses need thier scaling tables adjusted. Especially Wurm’s and Shaman’s. if they do that and address safezones it should be fine.
They are low level zone bosses and are meant to be easy. The harder world bosses are in Orr, though personally, I can still solo the entire grenth chain event without breaking a sweat.

If you didn’t purposely knowing fully bugged it..
Here is a very simple way to put it, if your weapon is not touching the mob, it’s not melee.

You should go earlier.
I have a precusor (two actually) and I agree with Sazgo. It’s not fair to people. I was lucky and had my precusor drop during the Karka event. I was lucky enough to get one I could actually use. I bought a cheap one (relatively cheap) off the trading post. It’s cheap because it’s an underwater one. People don’t like those as much because they can’t walk around LA showing off, but I think the skin is awesome.
But I don’t think the way it stands now is fair to people, and I can certainly see why people are frustrated.
Let me know where I can farm up some luck to be on par with yours. See, I’ve worked to generate a ton of gold only to pour that down the toilet. I don’t mind the working. Where can I work to get an RNG benefit?
The real question is, what’s more important my work or your luck? Which is more valuable and which should the game focus on rewarding?
I think a good balance would be, if the game allowed you to get lucky, but also allowed a definite means to progress toward the goal. Then it’s the best of both worlds. As it stands right now, I could toss 500 more staves or just 4 before I get the legend. That kind of situation eventually leads to frustration. But heck, if they don’t fix this can they at least give us another endgame goal?
And that’s why i’ve been patiently waiting for the precursors to finally drop to a reasonable price
Right now, i actually enjoy the inflation though. It acts as excellent gold sinks (more people who spend on it the better) and I personally like to see at what stage do people say “no, this is too much, i’ll wait too”
