gw2 might have the worst dungeon

I don’t get it, it seems a lot of the content are people complaining mob skipping/not knowing what to do etc but isn’t this a clear l2p play issue? Obviously, mob skipping is not something you do when you’re unfamiliar with the dungeon. So why not do it with a group who is equally new or as friendly and willing to teach. Also, learning boss mechanics is normal in any dungeon. There is not a SINGLE dungeon in any game which before you reach a boss, there is a list of attacks and timing and what to do thrown right at your face. Everything is learned through playthrough.

gw2 might have the worst dungeon

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Lafiel.9372

So i got the game about a week ago, got to level 80 fairly quick, 5-6 days. Ran about 10 + dungeons so far. The first dungeon i ran, i was a bit confused….everyone was skipping trash mobs and had no idea, no sense of direction etc…i was being left behind basically. So i figured “hey i’ll just learn and try to keep up next time”, so i did(why even include trash mobs then?).

I’m a Warrior btw

I was also confused about the whole dodging thingy, i didn’t know when to dodge or understood the timing of it. Yea “see the red circle, GTFO”, pretty much 80% of the time i was dodging mechanics and using my rifle…but i wanted to play a melee class….

I’m kind of discourage to do anymore dungeons now. This probably one of the worst dungeons i ran and i’ve been playing MMORPG’s for 10 year plus. It’s not even the difficulty factor more of the mechanics/combat function and design.

I do love the game/world/questing etc…but the dungeons are horrific

Mmm. hate to break it to you, but gw2 is more of a skill based compared to other games where you just have to learn a rotation. Once you get better, you can survive melee range for almost every mob you fight.

Class with the best ELITES?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lafiel.9372

Lafiel.9372

Notice how not a single person has considered or even mentioned the elementalist…

In my opinion the Thief doesn’t necessarily have the best, but it does have the elites applicable in the most situations, and three of them to boot. Warrior, ranger, Mesmer and Guardian each have two usable elites. Engineer and Necro have one. The elementalist doesn’t have a single elite that isn’t either highly situational or outright useless.

The ele elite is kind of balance. You get a pretty decent summon for a relatively low CD. The tornado is a bit of a meh, but then and again I use it as an engineer too and it’s really not bad sometimes, especially when you’re vsing like 3-5 people and you want to buy yourselves a extra 10 seconds.

I do admit however, that that elite could be changed/buffed slightly though.

Class with the best ELITES?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lafiel.9372

Guardians have varied elites, but I pretty much only run renewed focus as an oh kitten button, since the others 2 have horrendous cooldowns.

Warrior has surprisingly good elites, with battle standard notably being excellent. Rampage is a good way to get yourself killed unfortunately.

Ranger has pretty good elites, I’m a big fan of entangle.

Engineer elites are uniformly awful. Yes, I totally want to use a truncated version of another classes elite. Or make a stationary turret that does less DPS and has less range than my grenade kit. Supply drop is the only useable one, and even then unless you’re heavily turret specced it’s mediocre.

Hmm, I think engineer elites are pretty strong. Supply crate does very well and the juggernaut elite is pretty OP, especially in pvp. There is a bit of RnG element to it but I prefer to get the juggernaut over the tornado. In fact, I love to pvp with my engineer just because how well they can hold up against people and can survive 4 players for a formidable amount of time just with their elite.

ANet made a post some where in the ranger forums that they will never allow rangers to directly control the other pet skills because they feel that would make rangers require to much APM.

I always believe a function shouldn’t cease to exist because the majority of the players cannot handle it :/ They should really make it an option for players who can utilize it.

Stealth Thief, "Playing Victim Game'?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lafiel.9372

Lafiel.9372

The biggest problem I have with vsing thieves is that some of my skills can’t be manually targetted. So if the thief is invisible BUT i know where he is, I can’t do anything about it. For instance, I can’t shatter my illusions in a specific AoE targetted location even tho I know the thief is right there. I think this would be a good addition to the game and this is just 1 example of what needs to be available in game.

Warning: Guild JP's, if you die, don't wp

Lafiel.9372

So there is stacks upon stacks of blocking in guild puzzles. If you die, you have to redo EVERYTHING. The maze too. You DO NOT get the reward. This is completely unfair and inconsistent with other missions. ANYONE who PARTICIPATES should get a merit.

I would seriously question the sanity of anyone who thinks the current system is a good one. Who at Arenanet thought this was a good idea? At least OPEN the door once it’s completed. At least if you complete a guild rush you can still get the rewards. This is not the case with puzzle and MUST be fixed.

For those who have not done puzzle, DO NOT DIE. Be extremely careful on your jumps too.

As a player who has paid money for the game and has bought gems previously, I demand a reform to the current system (i.e. the implementation of ‘check points’ for those who die) and I encourage others to do so. This system is not in the spirit of guilds and community. This is not fair and most of all this is not fun

I would also expect that there be a dev response on this as the current state is not acceptable and should not have been acceptable for release to the public.

Yeah, your attitude sure isn’t helping the point of your argument. Also, in a way, part of the the responsibility also lies on the organization of your guild.

Why a precursor scavenger hunt?

Lafiel.9372

To be honest, the way the market has evolved till now, the precursors are actually in a good place and the need for a scavenger hunt is … not necessary now. Almost.

I reckon it’s the t6 mats that need to be adjusted. Right now it just isn’t realistically possible for a person to farm all the mats for his legendary. At some point, part of them HAS to be bought from the tp.

Why is there an expansion being made?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lafiel.9372

Lafiel.9372

Expansions are going to be a sensitively crafted thing. Mainly because an expansion would have very limited content added towrads wvw if they have to consider the viability for non-expansions players to continue to play. Making expansion only wvw content will only split the population up so I wonder how it’s going to happen. Also, if they increase the level limit (which is the last straw for me, probably my game breaking thing) then they have to consider how this is implemented in regards to wvw as well. I wonder how these issues will be solved hmm.

Well as many of us have realised, gw2 did not really deliver an innovative experience at all, but only disguised it just enough so that we wouldn’t realize it till we bought it. To make it worst, the quality of the story greatly reduces as we deeper into the game…. Having said that, i’m still playing this game just because at least FOR NOW, they’re not forcing vertical progression on players yet and I don’t have to constantly be farming for new armor that I don’t need..

So pretty much, the day they put vertical progression (this includes level progression) in this game with some tier 2 ascended armor, is the day Anet has lost me as a customer completely.

Is the Zoomunlocker Program Safe or Not

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Lafiel.9372

Lafiel.9372

No 3rd party apps are allowed in game, theres no discussion. Nothing that interferes with or changes the game. Overlays do not change the game, they do not interact with code or the exe file. It is a clear distinction to anyone, not just computer and programmer savvy people. You can argue the point all you like, in the end if you want to use the program that is on you. We will keep an eye out for your banned forum post, and your question will be answered.

Except if I think it doesn’t give me an advantage, they’re quite clear that if it gives the player an advantage it isn’t allowed – that’s fine but the problem I have is that VOIP software is seemingly an exception, although they can’t approve of it’s use because it gives an advantage over someone who doesn’t use it . Quoting the official thread, “Does this program allow someone to play faster, better, longer, or more accurately than someone who doesn’t use it?”, it allows them to play faster, better, and more accurately as they can be updated on everything that is going on. Not a surprise considering majority of companies just make it up as they go along and not define anything – reminds me of real life, no one officially teaches you the law but if you break them, then good luck.

Along the lines of me saying “Some people abuse it, so no one can do it”, I’ll have to say similar with “Just because I talk about, doesn’t mean I’m going to do it”.

I dunno why you’re still continuing or arguing in this thread. You had an official response from a dev and they have told you it’s not recommended to use it. This answers your question on whether or not zoomunlocker is safe or not to use.

It sucks to get something super awesome and them immediately see 3 other people next to you with it when you port to LA.

If it was super hard to get, chances are, you won’t be the one to get it, thus, your thread would then be, WHY IS IT SO HARD TO GET, like those precursor complaint threads. Be happy that everyone can enjoy this cool back piece and not a hipster who says, “it’s not cool because it’s mainstream”

Boon Hate is brutally unfair to guardians.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lafiel.9372

Lafiel.9372

It’s silly to me because I feel boons are suppose to be helpful to me instead damaging.

And boons will remain to be helpful. Boon stealing, boon corruption and more damage per boon effects already exist in GW2. Heh, even when we take a look at other mechanics, we can see that using skills is damaging because of confusion, attacking somebody is damaging because of retaliation, and using projectiles is damaging because of reflection. But all those situations are occasional, sometimes timed, and do not affect the entire combat system.

If I have 8 boons up, it pretty much neglect over half my protection boon.

Wait, is this a problem at all? You’re pretty much stating that this boon hate mechanic will be pretty useless at that situation, if the only thing it can do is neglect only a portion of a single boon out of eight. Even a single boon stripping skill would be stronger than that.

In the end, that boon hate trait is not much different to protection than the existence of poison is against healing.

gw1 had a extreme variety of builds, gw2 doesn’t. In gw1 monks weren’t told they had to be enchantment oriented, they weren’t forced to do any of that. In gw2, guardians are basically forced to be boon oriented.

Big difference.

In GW1, dervishes and elementalists weren’t told they had to be enchantment oriented, they were forced into it too. And it worked perfectly fine. In GW2, guardians are the dervishes ( and paragons/ “monks”) of the game. And in GW2, boons are extremely strong.

I can understand that people who are used to overpowered professions, are afraid that there will exist more means to counter them. But that’s how the game should have been since the beginning. You have to understand that playing with an overpowered, hard to counter profession was not meant to be the norm, but is a side effect to lack of balancing in that department.

I don’t have a problem with it, I just think the concept is silly because of the basis that boons are suppose to be helpful. i.e. no disadvantage at all.

Boon Hate is brutally unfair to guardians.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lafiel.9372

Lafiel.9372

Boon hate is not a silly concept. It worked perfectly fine in GW1, and it needed a boost in GW2.

People are saying they would prefer boon stripping over the “more damage per boon” trait. Why? It seems, to me, that boon stripping is stronger than +3% damage per boon. Because the new warrior’s trait won’t remove boons. It won’t remove aegis, it won’t remove protection, it won’t remove vigor, it won’t remove stability, etc. Boon professions will still be able to dodge more often, to protect against stuns (and thus against warrior’s bursts), and generally regenerate their health. Each boon is, generally, far more worth than a 3% damage reduction. So, ultimately, this new tait will give warriors a higher chance to burst down a boon profession, but said profession can still counter the warrior by… using the effects of the boons.

Also, giving everyone and their mommas boon removal would be annoying. It would be annoying, because each time you would add a boon to yourself, chances are, you would lose it from a random soccer mom. It’s good that devs are adding more ways to fight against boons, that do not solely rely on stripping their effects. It adds more diversity to the combat system. With this new trait, a boon profession is going to be boon-countered while still reaping the benefit from boons. It’s going to lead to different kinds of duels than boon stripping (which is also getting buffed).

It’s silly to me because I feel boons are suppose to be helpful to me instead damaging. If I have 8 boons up, it pretty much neglect over half my protection boon. I much prefer if they gave warriors boon stealing/removal skills or a small % to steal/remove a boon in their trait line since this at least effectively either forces them to use one ult to counter my boons or that I can at least counter his boon steal/remove chance by kiting or kb or dodging him. having said that, like I said, this will barely affect my gameplay, I don’t even use Save yourselves when i’m in PvP since there are much better ult to use in pvp. So I guess in a way, i’m glad for this change since it wouldn’t affect us as negatively as the changes I have proposed as an example.

PvE: Is Toughness and Vitality pointless?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lafiel.9372

I was experimenting with my Thief, seeing if I could turn it into a super tanky damage sponge for PvE. My power and precision was already at acceptable levels and so I concentrated on Vitality and Toughness by playing around with Valkyrie and Knight gear.

With enhanced toughness and 4k more HP (close to 20k), I set out to test damage mitigation. For some reason, the damage I was taking before these experiments got a boost and I was taking 7-10% HP per hit like before.

After increasing stats (by 25%) that should have reduced damage, I see no change in survivability. Do mobs hit a set percentage of your HP no matter what?

This it my build as it stands. It is currently in beta.

My current build.

Sometimes, that extra % reduction and extra bit of hp is the matter of life and death and being competent enough in melee range or not.

One of the main difference and limitations of virtual economy is that it’s more or less “risk” free (in that you’re not really losing anything real, losing gold in game won’t mean you’ll have to sell your house or go bankrupt). Therefore, people are more loose with their decisions, investment, and choices and thus things are unlikely to be stable and is constantly fluctuating at higher rates then real world.

Guardian is the LAST class that should complain about confusion. Guardian has more active and passive cleansing than any other class.

If you lose that much health from confusion as a guardian you need to L2P.

To be fair, if the confusion stacks are high enough, the guardian will take the initial tick on cleanse of the condition anyways. So even if he removes it straight away, if he had like 8-10 stacks on him, it’ll still eat a huge chunk of hp off him by using his cleanse skills.

Disappointed with Gw2's support

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Lafiel.9372

Lafiel.9372

I encounter 2 incident that prompt me to contact Gw2’s support recently.

First, when purchasing a super sword skin, I accidentally brought a super greatsword skin. Contact support about switching the skin, but nope, support deny the request. Fine, atleast the skin is account bound and I might use it for one of my alts.

Today I went to purchase a Twilight Arbor medium gloves for my ranger. Because my party is waiting for me in SAB, I am in a rush and brought the light armor gloves instead of medium armor gloves. Contacted support again and again after several hours, support reply that while they like to be able to refund, they cannot do so at this point. So, I am left holding on with light armor gloves that are absolutely useless to me.

Why the heck would you let a medium armor class buy a light armor that is soul bound?

Years ago in another game, LOTRO, I encountered a similar problem. During a festival event I grind enough tokens and silvers to purchase a festival mount. Unfortunately, I purchased a pony, which is only usable by hobbit race, while my character is a human. I was annoyed and contact their support. within 15 mins, a friendly GM contact me and swap the token for me.

Now, thats what I call good support. I was unhappy that their programmer did not do a racial check when purchasing tokens, but the quick fix by their support make the bad experience into a positive one.

After six months of subscription to LOTRO, I was happy enough with my in game experiance that I eventually purchased lifetime membership for 2 accounts. Compare this to Gw2 where aside from launch, I only brought gems with cash once, as a response to culling being fixed in WvW.

Gw2 does not have a subscription, whether I spend cash in it depends heavily on whether I am satisfied with the game or not. The level of support I am receiving however, isn’t making me happy at all.

There are command prompts to prevent these situations…. don’t blame support for not fixing your mess because you couldn’t take another 2 seconds to check what you’re buying…
