Anther idea could be to have adult only servers. For people who can handle things like mature language. It would require a CC validation.
Age doesn’t immediately grant you maturity. If we had to set an age, I’d say 30+. Everything below are just young adults who think they’re super mature and have a license to spread profanity uncontrollably.
In the end the ban is up to the support team, so what those guys said must have been offensive to some extent and not just simply swearing casually. Not so much vigilantes as good citizens reporting a crime. Batman is a vigilante and no batman doesn’t ask the police whether he can serve justice!
Also whats with the beef with roleplaying? I don’t do it but I welcome others to…
Another one of these threads… it’s like people come in knowing what they were getting but then bought it and demand a change. Plenty of options with trinity system, just not this one.
My 5 cents, the mechanics in this game are working fine, no more easy jobs because everyone has to do their job to survive.
pretty sure this is just a case of bad streak. Or you can call kitten drop rates the same as permanent DR? in which case, this thread can join the “Anet nerfed looting rates” thread or whatever it was called o.O
Rally is bad>
Why??
If you are downed, and you rally, no armor penalty.
If you are downed and ally helps you up, you get an armor penalty. This system promotes people to leave teammates on the deck.
As far as I know, you only get armor penalty from death..
No.
Again, as I have stated, you get an armor penalty if you are downed and you get raised by an ally. You get NONE if you are rallied (i.e. mob defeat).
Knowing, and understanding the rally system is a boon to this so called teamwork. But honestly, if yoiu were working as a team in the first place, you wouldn’t have anyone down in the first place right???
As for rallying a buddy, if its not possible to kill a mob, no harm in leaving them there, or lend a helping hand.
The point being that the MECHANICS punish you for team play, unless team play consists of DPS zerg fest: Kill it! Kill it!! Kill it! mentality.
But this is a general trend through their whole game as well.
Except no.
You ONLY take armor damage if you are defeated. If you are downed and brought up in any way be it rally or player rez you take no damage. There is no debate. There is no question. This is fact, or else every fractal group would require 25 repair canisters to make it through.
^ that’s what I thought. I’m sure I would have noticed my armor getting damaged when I run AC where I never actually die but may once or twice be “downed” then quickly reved up by responsive teammates.
Just tested this and my statement stands. I tried it multiple times with a friend whether it was revived from down or revived from rally, both cases I had no armor damage. Only when you’re defeated is there armor penalty. Downed penalty on the other hand is another thing but we don’t need to go into that…if you’re downing enough to die, you’re not doing it right.

Besides, I coordinate rallies all the time, if I see a few people down and something is almost dead, I would hit that monster and kill it instead of rallying a few people. It’s all based on how well that team synergizes rather than blame the mechanics of this game. What does happen in this game is players who refuse to help a downed player. There are times when he’s too far gone and times where if everyone worked together, that player would be back up in a second.
This again is a player skill problem rather than a profession problem. Most wars and guardian do better because they have to be more active in battle as well as in close range. This hones their player skill much more and as a result, most of these players know the timing, dodges and what to do to maintain high survivability while doing decent/good dps. Now, i’ve seen bad guardians and warriors in my days too and these are detrimental to the group while i’ve also seen very good mesmers, rangers, thieves and engineer who contribute effectively to the group.
So learn to play your class well and not just be standing still and spamming skills and expect guards and wars to “hold aggro” and people wouldn’t always be asking for wars and guardians.
For a 250 stack mystic forge, my experience is it ranges between 4-80. A 50 stack is about 4-20
I only have a few things to say.
First, thanks to those people who admit that they only think of themselves and not as a group, i will remember to not invite them. I personally dont care how a dungeon is run. It is a team decision, i usually ask at th start something like skip? Or kill kholer? And the majority decides, everyone is happy. There is no misbehaving little kid whose like nook but i want to so it this way! If you want to run it a certain one, clearly state it at the start and not inside.
Secondly, anet has confirmed at least skipping certain bosses was by design. Mostly the bonus events etc. im also pretty sure that certain things like mobs hitting other mobs, skipping waves of monsters were by design. Else anet could easily have patched t his ages ago just by extending the aggro range of these creeps. But no, they were specifically designed to lose aggro at certain distances which happens to be wa la! That tiny area without mobs!
Now skipping is really a player skill thing and usually if its a pug i dont feel confident with, i dont skip, simple as that. Else if everyone ie the majority is happy, we skip the ones we agree one. Seriously though, no immature bs midway, if you want to state your play style, do it at the start so people know. I would not hesistate to kick you in jade maw if u died to a mob that the team as a group decided to skip since i can easily finish that with two people or less.
Spelling errors cause on ipad and its late…
By all means though, if anet officially says its not as intended or exploit, i would back it up completely

I’ll say what I say to others,
MF gear doesn’t reduce your damage significant enough to lets say “significantly slow down your run”.
MF gear reduces your survivability so if you’re dying heaps then yes you’re slowing the run down for your teammates, but if you know timing and the dodges and you’re not the one downing all the time then you’re not being a liability.
Player skill and non-communicating players are the real culprits of inefficient runs.
Saw one once outside AC dungeon~ said Hi and ran away~
i5 3570K (or no k) + ATI 7850 should be able to run the game relatively well. In WvW you might experience lower frame rate but it wouldn’t be unplayable at all. In any case, there is a lot of room for overclocking if you’re into the best but in 99 % of the world, you’ll do fine.
Not so much FFA in my eyes, but world PvP.
I would love to see a server with the option of hostile factions. The Charr don’t like the Humans, let them fight! I think fighting over lands would be fantastic; the ganking and fighting with your allies would make the game so much more satisfying.
Ah now this is something I could get behind, sadly I doubt GW2 would implement something like this due to various obvious reasons.
Mm yea, legendary at this stage means nothing more than the amount of gold in your pocket. Likewise with commander statuses. Though, with 800 hours of gameplay (I think i’m roughly the same) you should be well within your hundreds of g now? I personally farm only dungeons and occasional orr and have gotten enough money to make twilight if I wanted to but at this stage with so many noobs carrying it, I’m reluctant to join in.
Sigil of blood is best I think, if i’m right you can use it in conjunction with pies which give additional chance for health on crit.
Well given they can be sold on TP I assume its soulbound on equip.
I was in a dungeon group with a guy about 1 week ago. Lets call him John. During the run, the group had no idea what to do on a certain part close to the end of the dungeon. Instead of stopping and explaining to ensure success, John chose to cuss our groups with words I will not repeat on the forums, call us n00bs, scrubs, and then did the worse thing one can do. He disbanded the group. Now we had 2 hours of time wasted (Yes it was a crappy group of new people, but we were all new at some point), would have to repeat the run to get the same reward.
These kind of people make more PVErs quit than the lonely griefer outside of newb town in a PVP game. At least in a PVP game, I could write John’s name on a scrap of paper and find him. And grief him. He would behave much better next time I am sure.
Very sorry to hear that. But really, that is exactly the kind of player you’ll most likely meet on FFA servers. True pve players would understand communication and teamwork is the key to success and to put people before themselves. What you had to deal with is the residual remains of a griefer being only able to grief players any more effectively than this.
We’re only as strong as our weakest link and that is how it affects all the servers if a ffa server was put in place.
I.e leave FFA for a game which is designed for it.
(edited by Lafiel.9372)
It’s funny how you guys are comparing gay marriage to a server which will be dedicated to player grieving and act like this is one and the same.
I dunno, just generalising here, people who enjoy FFA are usually the same guys who enjoy playing as a stealth class and camping new players in low level zones and get a kick out of killing/bullying poor newbs just trying to level in the game. Then these newbs grow up and due to their tortured past, they repeat these actions again to other fellow newbs and the chain continues. It produces a highly unhealthy game environment though sometimes the drama can be fun to observe.
Oh just to add, if they did implement this server, what would end up happening is that people would go level on a pve server then come on to this pvp server through character transfer and camp queensdale and all unprotected newb zone and spend their time with their “mates” laughing at unfortunate newbies starting the game and not knowing the danger and killing them just before quest completion or just plain grieving and not letting them out of town. I know this is a game and morales differ and to some extent you can call it roleplay but in the same circumstances, who gets a kick out of beating up primary school kids when you’re in college?
The real problem here is that the majority of players who wants FFA are griefers. Someone mentioned before that the down level system will let players have a “chance” against a gank but how can you survive a gank against 5 other players who are lvl 80 and have significant more damage due to armor stats. It’s a massacre. If Anet took away the griefing part to newbies then these griefers would just move on to other lvl 80 players who happen to be out of place. Eventually, it’ll just be a “you’re either one of us or one of them” situation. People group up together in large groups and form different unofficial factions. (sounds familiar hmm). It is never going to be a 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 situation. It is always going to be a 1 vs 10, 2 vs 10, 3 vs 50 situation. There is no respect or wit or tactics it is just a massacre of players trying to play the game.

Eh, melee is fine as they are. You get a weapon swap for a reason, so you can use one of the two depending on the situation. As a guardian, I can stick to my melee weapon most of the time for higher aoe burst damage output and roll out if I’m taking a bit too much damage while changing to range to maintain dps. Most range classes lack in aoe damage (eg. gs and hammer can hit 3-4 targets at once while range can only hit 1 or 2 most of the time). The only class which is capable of hitting many and ranged is elementalist and that’s because they lack a weapon swap ability so it evens out.
The main issue I see with a F2P (ignoring all the other major issues which would make this impossible) is the amount of bots we’ll see in this game would substantially increase to an uncontrollable amount. One time payment model is significantly decreasing the amount of bots in game.
Never use the same password for any account you own.
If you play your class effectively, you can be both… glass cannon or not.
thing is if a lvl 2 joins a lvl 50 fractal they’ll definitely be compromising the team? They should have a limit how far the lowest and highest level can be. ie. people within 1-10 can party together, 20-30 etc etc
Surprising no one mentioned guardian, the good all-rounder. But ye, engineer with grenades definitely the most op :o~
Eh, I completed mine at about 30-40 % chance. I actually wasn’t so annoyed by these mystic clovers. If you do it in bulk you’ll realise the probability is always right so think of it as you need 250 ectos and 250 shards to make the 77 mystic clovers.
Eh, undercutting over 1c is pretty smart to be honest. In a market like this, you’re gonna get undercut over 1c easily if you don’t put a huge gap between your item cost. Contrary to what most people think, a lot of smart sellers DO check the current instant buys (I know I do) and if you’re selling an item in the for a few gold, its a lot more profitable to sell something which is 5s lower than the current price and get it sold quick, then to sell it at 1c lower and get it undercut quickly and never sell and be stuck on the trading post and loses the listing fee if you need to relist. All in all this technique is pretty situation of course.
Eh, your gem store shouldn’t even look like that, it should have tabs and stuff o_o? Try relogging a few times?
Hmm, thanks for the replies. In your opinion, which authentication is more secure? mobile or email since apparently, you can’t have both. I always follow all the guidelines as recommended above and have not had an incident yet but just want to be sure!
This is simply not going to happen.
Hi everyone,
I recently noticed that there seems to be more and more people who get hacked everyday and was wondering how much more secure will my account be with the mobile authenticator. Has there been any known case where even with the mobile authenticator, people still get hacked? or is this a fool proof method in terms of security measures. Obviously, people who have been hacked have their email compromised as well? since they can add and register their Korea or China IP address on their account through email verification?
Many thanks
As mentioned above, looks like you changed the stats of your weapon so it’s become an exotic stat weapon but with the legendary skin. If in the future updates they do do a stat buff on the legendary you won’t be able to take advantage of it. Nevertheless though, the effects of the weapon should remain since the skins is still the same.
I heard only tonics gotten after the event could be sold. The ones before were account bound
But lil weakling elementalist and necromancers cannot shoulder the heavy weight of the plated heavy armor!
Though it should make perfect sense that heavy armor class can wear anything below it :P
Edit: haha, it would be funny to allow light armor class to wear it but they’ll be perma crippled or -50% movement speed :P
Many people turn things into a grind, a race to the top. It’s like a job, the higher paying ones are usually something mind numbing and repetitive while the one you truly enjoy is average in pay but highly stimulating. People always forget to stop, enjoy and take a look at the beautiful world and people around us.
When you put stats > player skills that’s where people are wrong. Sure, stats are important, but it’s not because of the magic find that people are compromising the team. Survivability in regards to stats is a secondary to player skill during boss fights. What it does give you is more room for “mistakes” and no amount of stats is going to help you if you don’t know what you’re doing (you may think you do and blame others though, common mistake!).
So a typical scenario in dungeon is, 5 people happily fighting a boss. 4 people wear “proper” gear while 1 guy wears magic find gear. magic find gear guy times the correct dodges, uses the right skill and does maximum DPS his gear provides and only sacrifices his toughness stat to replace magic find. 4 people wearing “proper” gear gets downed and magic find guy is still up and fighting. Unable to revive all 4 downed players, eventually magic find player downs too and team wipes. Whose fault is it? Is it the 4 players who had proper gear but didn’t have enough skill to hold their own and survive through the fight or the guy with magic find who died at the end doing just as much dps as anyone of his class but was let down by his other 4 members?
Bottom line, if a guy is bad, no amount of stat is going to save him.
So i’m running along WvW and I see a commander. Surely my first thought would be – ah that guy knows his thing! I better follow him to defend our homeland! We have loads of fun! zerging from fort to fort, camp to camp. Sometimes we all die but that’s probably all part of his master plan! Then I leave wvw for some good PvE fun and I see a commander also in the dungeon I run! I prance in delight as I take a sigh of relief! This guy must be pro, I must be in luck! Then comes the dungeon and I bravely venture in, only to find, this commander is hmm dunno how to finish this part off, lets say, i greatly overestimated him.
So anyways, on a more serious note, the majority of commanders that I see who put their little blue icon up outside in pve worlds are not very good players. This may be a misconception on my part but I naturally believe if someone has a commander symbol and has the confidence to put it up has a certain degree of leadership skills and has played a decent amount of time so his skills as a player should be relatively good. But 90 % of the time this has not been true. In fact, a lot of the time they spend talking about all the high level stuff they do, ‘oh, i’m in fotm lvl 3x ah this so boring la la la~ but then all I see them do is screw stuff up and die a lot of the time. They do a lot of bragging (imagine a scenario where a guy is like pressing many stacks of 100 dollar bills onto your face and yelling LOOK AT IT LOOK AT IT) but as a player, . they’re not very good. I mean it makes me wonder if these guy has been carried by his friends/guild.
I mean I have nothing against this really but sometimes I wish the ability to obtain a commander status was more then just about the amount of gold you got? Then I can really look up to this person and go ah, hes gone through those trials and is a respected and skilled player. Maybe even like a commander level status where he gets a number next to that little blue icon :o and is earned through completing various challenging task. All in all, nowadays I see commanders (and I see them everywhere, afterall 100g isn’t hard to earn) I’m very skeptical about their skill as a player. At most, I see them as just another average player but likes to brag and show off all their goodies and how many infusion slotted ascended rings they have or what xx level they’re up to in fotm even though when I run with them, they don’t contribute as positively to the team as they seem to claim.
Edit: forgot to add, so what do you guys think
?
(edited by Lafiel.9372)
Yes, please do not do this! I would really lose all hope for this game if they did. Currently i’m still a dedicated player and have somewhat believed in the relative direction the game has headed but if they ever increase the level cap it would ruin the entire philosophy of this game. I totally disagree with Chris who said that this game allowed for such changes where as GW1 didn’t! A change in level cap would render all current armor obsolete!! Meaning more grinding for everyone and not being able to come back after awhile and be able to jump right back into action which is what most people are often for gw2!. If you wanted to give us more trait points/skills/stats there are many other ways to do it other than level progression!
But yeah, if that day ever comes, I won’t be there to see it through. They might as well bring back in the trinity system and 25 man raids, flying and land mounts and copy exactly what WoW did, because if that is the progression they want to take, WoW got it right.
Yes, I also second this motion. God it was so convenient back then to preview armor (even though it hasn’t been implemented in TP) but to remove it makes you have to switch several characters to do the same thing. Please, this was one of the better features of this game that wasn’t abuseable and was a plus for the community!
Edit: as said above, helping friends decide outfits of different class!! That was such an important function!!!
Hmm interesting, I’ve never encountered this. I will give it a try too see the difference. So just to clarify do you still roll or do you not move at all?
Might be best to submit a bug report in game to get a faster response too.
An official response from this would be great on whether this was intended (the ice wall being underground and has to be shot with a charzooka at specific locations) just to make this already unworthy event even worst lol. I mean, sure increase the difficulty as much as you like but make it directly proportional to the reward.
(edited by Lafiel.9372)
Yea.. I’m not going back in WvW anytime soon unless they change this. Mayb if it’s SUPER safe…dying to d/c is just plain stupid
@ Stormleaf,
How about rather than trying to find holes in my grammar about how i dislike the event would you like to pose a counter argument as to how the event is good?
Btw i have achieved my legendary i have no issues with earning things (although this felt like a gold grind as opposed to anything actually legendary but that is another issue)
I want to be able to PLAY THE GAME for the rewards rather than fork out cash for them (9 mini’s only 2 obtainable without spending money – my biggest issue, especially considering theyre account bound and i can’t even purchase them from other players with in game gold)
Why not convert gems from gold if you have no issue earning things?
Patience guys, there is a wintersday trio box waiting… maybe anet will release it in the time to come. Even then, they’re just mini’s, I have zero compulsion to collect them all.
I think there was no need to place a penalty to begin with. If players decide to alt-f4, they have to go through a process of re-queueing etc which is time consuming. Ultimately, the players have achieved their objective in terms of removing this player. On the other hand, sometimes you get bugged and STAY in combat and will be UNABLE to get out of combat unless you kill something which (which sometimes helps) or it doesn’t. That means that this player will be forced to have a penalty regardless what he does.
IF they really wanted to fix this, all they had to do was force alt-f4 to have a 5-10 second log out timer or a simple command prompt would be sufficient even. The penalty is unnecessary.
(edited by Lafiel.9372)
Hmm, i’m running on a really crap laptop and I finished it on my 10th or so try. This one is a lot easier than clocktower. Or maybe clocktower has honed our skills
Once again, there are many free sections of the event. The paid part is totally optional
Yea, they really need to do something about these dragon events. Either make it harder but higher reward. I.E a high chance of exotic, I mean we don’t need GUARANTEED exotic and or a significantly higher chance for precursor. We just need something to feel that the effort was worth it. I’ve kill usually the dragons at least 2 times a day since release. thats like at least 200-400 dragon kills for me and I am sad to say, i’ve never gotten anything better than the odd rare and heaps of blues. I mean if I wanted to farm blues, I could kill a few mobs in a smaller frame of time for the same result. Nevertheless, this would bring in a valuable source of precursors/exotics in the game to help balance the economy but also make the effort worth while to the players.
