I know this is an old argument but I simply don’t have time to address each of your posts. So I’m gonna use it anyway.
IF YOU DON’T LIKE THE GAME, GET THE F—- OUT! You all make such a big.frieking.deal about EVERY LITTLE THING. They add new equipment and your first instinct is to shout BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN! Yes. Honestly you’d think that every one of you is a game developer who knows exactly how everything works and needs to be balanced. You know nothing. NOTHING.
Wrong on so many levels. Your argument here is weak because you haven’t even attempted to discuss the reason why except stating that a game developer is always right, which only shows how little you actually know. I assure you, game developers are human too, and humans are easily enticed by greed.
By the way, I think your post is an infraction hm?
I actually like this idea because in that universe, there would have been zero chance of me existing in it to begin with.
If you enjoy just casual goal-less exploring and fun, give it a try. If you want actual end game content then you will be disappointed.
Current available ascended gear is 312 more stats in total than exotic armor
Full set of ascended gear by the end of all releases is probably going to be about ~510 more stats than exotics.
I killed her with a single Omega Beam she was randomly teleporting around.
What Colin Johanson said (dated 7th March 2013):
Though Johanson accepts the huge outcry and accusations of betrayal from the playerbase were unavoidable, he admits the situation could have been handled better. In actual fact, Ascended Gear isn’t the most powerful gear in the game; it’s just as good as Legendary gear, but takes a fraction of the time to earn. “I think that ascended gear was something we should have had at launch,” Johanson says. “We didn’t have something above that exotic level that you put in a lot of time and earn it, but you don’t have to put in your whole life to earn it like a legendary weapon.
“Is this going to become a gear-tiered game where you’re constantly on this treadmill to chase after that stuff? My hope would be no. I think that certainly in 2013 you’re not going to see another tier of gear.”
Source: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/03/07/how-guild-wars-2-plans-to-survive
What colin said is a load of kitten to be honest. Firstly, if they admittedly knew ascended gear should have been introduced at launch, then why did they launch? Obviously the game was not ready. Even after one year, they still haven’t been able to launch this so called “true” end game gear properly and we only have the trinkets showing out so say what they may, but it seems very obvious that this ascended gear was proposed as a gear treadmill from the beginning. Other alternatives was to announce to within the first month of launch and make it clear that one new tier will be added soon after.
Secondly, okay, let’s say I buy that stuff for a second there, why is ascended gear implemented SO differently compared to it’s previous tiers. Why not just introduce them as a rarer drop to exotics (with a varies of skins) and have them craftable like normal (no time gating). It’s so obvious with the time gating and expensive materials that the ascended gears objective is to act as a psuedo-end-game content where it can waste or should i say buy them a few more months for players to feel like they’re achieving something.
If we look deep into it, you’ll probably realise that this isn’t worth the TIME or MONEY to make ascended weapons if the players end game objective is to craft a legendary. Since all that TIME and MONEY and MATERIALS that we used for making that ascended weapon, we would probably be 1/8th of the way there and is probably better invested in there and just skip the whole ascended tier completely.
In reality, ascended weapons should have been implemented as just another new set of craftable exotics with maybe decently looking skins. People would have loved and praised anet for it and everyone would be happy. Because really, people don’t care about having higher stats when everyone else is the same, people care about the cosmetic look! Why does anet think people want to grind for MILDLY higher stats in this game, it literally makes no sense when the game is balanced around the current exotics already. It’s either gear progression or no gear progression, if you try to kitten around in between, you just kitten a lot of people off. It’s like dammit what i’m wearing isn’t obsolete but i’ll be at a slight disadvantage when versing another player. Why do you think people made legendaries? It’s not like they had higher stats than exotics. It’s because people love the epic skins!
To finish it off, the worst of the worst is, no where will you be able to find a quote, that anet will claim, yup ascended gear is going to be the final tier. Hell, they even said there is going to be level progression somewhere down the line. Note carefully that all they say is 2013, you’ll only see ascended gear and no new tier. That means, they’re not even going to try stick with their promise at all and they’re purposely leaving it open ended. Heck, it’s probably going to take them the whole year to implement the full set of ascended gear, that sentence saying 2013 is the only tier we’ll be seeing is totally pointless. They may as well have said, because we wasted so much time on temporary content and buggy living stories, we won’t be implementing more than 1 tier of armor this year. Eventually, somewhere down the line, when anet has finally kitten ed everyone off and all that remains is the gear progressioners, then they’ll be pumping out all sorts of kitten armor on steroids.
Seriously, I used to be one of “those” guys who defend this company and game. But over time, I’ve seen their true colours, I’ve seen how deep the rabbit hole goes and I’m enlightened. Enlightened about the fact that they’ve strayed way off track to even recover, that what they do now is to keep their sales figures high and cash rolling in, there is no respect for the players, the story OR the game. I guess like they say, you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villian (me and anet)
(edited by Lafiel.9372)
They do it so it makes their fake content last longer. Time gating is pretty much the evidence of this, there is no reason to time gate things other than slowing us down.
Let me just put something into perspective here for people who are arguing about ascended vs exotics.
Originally, we had only ascended trinkets. To do the math, this is approximately, 12 % increase.
Okay, so how much stats are we talking about then?
If we just consider the trinkets, that means that each stat gains approximately 11 stats per selection. I.e. each trinket gains an extra 33 stats and this is roughly the same for every trinket type regardless of stats. I use the term approximate because the stats vary a bit depending on the type and primary stat. In total, taking 33 as the true amount, we’re getting an extra 33×6 = 198 stats. with
66 more stats each in each stat category on average.
Let’s using a popular PPT example here.
66 extra precision gives about 3 % more critical chance
66 power gives 66 more damage
66 toughness gives 66 more armor.
Not too bad for trinkets. seems like a 12 % increase is significant (it’s almost like wearing an extra exotic trinket)
So how does this affect our weapons then?
so i’m not too sure what exactly the stats will be like bet lets assume it’ll be approximately 10 % based on a calculated guess from dulfy’s preview, similar to the trinkets. So that means we’ll get approximately 19×6 = 114. so no biggy.
Again if let’s look at how this affects our stats in for PPT.
so 38 precision is ~2 % crit chance
38 power is 38 damage
38 toughness is another 38 armor.
So what are we at now?
Power we’re at 104 extra, which is an extra 104 damage
Precision we’re at 104, an extra ~5 % crit chance
toughness, we’re at 104, an extra 104 armor.
Thinking about this as trinkets, that’s 1-2 extra exotic trinkets we’re equipping now. So think about this stat increase as having 8 trinkets or (7 1/2 if you want to be slightly more accurate).
Okay no problem, how bout lets look at far in the future, when the ascended armor comes out. I’m just going to crudely calculate them. Assuming a 11 stat increase per stat as per usual. We’re looking at about 33 per item and we have 6 pieces. So that’s 33×6 = 198.
The perspective is similar to the trinkets, so basically another ~3 % crit chance 66 damage, 66 armor.
So to add it all up by the end of all the ascended upgrades and we EXCLUDE the potential for infusion stats
That is approximately a total of:
170 power = 170 damage
170 precision = ~8% crit chance
170 toughness = 170 armor
I’ll leave it to everyone to decide whether these stats are enough to call for a significant advantage or not.
I’m pretty sure I said months ago that the moment they introduce either level progression or significant armor and weapon progression that’s quits for me.
Thinking back, I don’t know what anet was really talking about initially when they first realise about how violent of a reaction we had against ascended weapons. So what was the idea, to say they admit it was wrong that the implementation was wrong and they won’t be moving forward on it and so they only introduced trinkets etc. However, i’m sure everyone had a feeling that this wasn’t going to be the end. All anet was doing was not saying they’re sorry but instead buying time for us to get USED to the concept that ascended gear is the new tier then slowly “ease” it in until hopefully, we’ve all forgotten about the original focus of the game. We all knew this day was coming, heck, even anet hinted it a couple of times.
This could have been a great game with limitless potentials but yup, damage is done to almost irreversible and it’s just going to accelerate downhill from here…
Wish I could roll back time when it was halloween last year.. I think that was the pinnacle of gw2 for me before it all went down hill ( some brief uphill ) then straight down again.

Removing this because I was wrong

Guys, this is what gw2 is now.. living story and temporary contents. Frankly, I think i rather let the story die as a massive plot hole never filled then an extremely poorly attempted bi monthly content.
If you’ve kept up with any of the interviews, you’ll realise that Anet DOESN’T want to release an expansion. If this living story crap sells, this IS going to be the expansion.
They stated that there will be an expansion, but that they don’t have any plans on the table currently.
Not that I last recall. The quote for this has been rather fuzzy. Some say they have not heard at all about anything of an expansion, some say if living world proceeds well in reaping the money, it WILL become the expansion.. when I say some, i’m talking about the devs.

hahaha, you guys really think anet will willfully implement a quality of life change like this
Given all the other quality of life changes they’ve given us after player discussion and requests, and given their goal of making the game fun by removing all the impediments to fun from standard MMO play they can? Yes, I think they might.
Please give me examples, I’m still waiting for build swapping, lfg tool, more options for commander tags, guild commander tags, better guild functions and the list goes on.
I guess they did recently give us the wallet which i appreciate with the exception of the gold being all clustered together now.
Wait though buy your t6 now before the storm comes or buy it very far away after the storm has left.
Nothing will be permanent in the hands of anet
If it’s successful, anet will keep returning it as a temporary content i’m pretty sure. Making it permanent is something anet dislikes nowadays because it doesn’t have the same novelty to force attract players to play.
Best gear obtained by the worst activities
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: Lafiel.9372
The first point I’m wondering. Anet once said, a few years ago that they didn’t like the whole crafting thing as it was in all mmo’s. I’m not seeing any difference since it’s still a terrible, not fun, time consuming activity I like to avoid in Guild Wars 2.
With the upcoming patch it seems like there’s no avoiding crafting anymore. I think it’s an awful decision to make the new ascended gear only available through crafting. Yes yes, people say you don’t really need to have those ascended gear cause they’re a little bit better than exotics. Well.. if you count 6 armor pieces with some weapons, the difference will be quite significant.
Why wasn’t it just possible to make the better and new gear available through ‘fun’ activities. Make them available at dungeon vendors for higher prices than exotics as a simple alternative which still isn’t much fun. I just can’t believe it, it’s only starting to create a distance between me and the game, and make me think people have to much advantage over me. And to be honest.. who in this world seriously enjoys crafting…?
Because all the employees with good dreams, ideas and imagination have been terminated.
Jokes aside, crafting is okay, it’s the time gated stuff that is a extremely cheap way to sell off content which “last”.

why would you only have mf gear to begin with? You are just being selfish and contributing very minimal to the team running with that.
He has another set for real purposes. Come on guys. Eyes.
Sorry, but still, farming in the world should be the least rewarding. There should be no need for MF.
They should be working on their broken asfuq Risk vs. Reward system.
I’ll probably repeat this phrase with the time to come, the gw2 we had come to know, the gw2 we had come to expect, unofficially died on it’s very first birthday, along with the departure of robert. However, fear not! the remaining anet members are excited to release you, Grind Wars 2!.

The story however is so weak that it barely conceals the fact that arenanet is just throwing a random item at you and asking you: play (=farm) for 1 week more and you can have it! People finally see this and ask themselves “why are we doing this?”, cause it’s quite obviously a trap to make you play the game. That’s why we are not haters, but people who are discussing an existing problem, which will possibly rob Anet of a large chunk of their playerbase (not completely unjustified).
Yup, this is basically what I’ve come to realise after a long denial, due to the misplaced loyalty for this game and company. I’m sure, eventually, and very soon, everyone will realised this and turn to other real games that don’t rely on cheap tricks and fast money making tactics. Anet, you’re running on borrowed time and it’s time to pay up.
I’m sick of all these temporary contents pumped out every 2 weeks. It puts stress on players and the designers. We’ve seen the effects patch by patch, content which comes out buggy, they hastily patch it and the cycle goes on.
Who really thought temporary content was a good idea to begin with… how can your game be good if it hasn’t advance at all since last year fotm.
Well, I had a good run I guess, wish I could still ask for that refund in gems and game now xD
Anet needs to play some decent console games and learn how to present their story better. The techniques are interchangeable.
I hear that SWOR has the best story telling of any MMO ever made precisely because it was high end and done very much like single player rpgs. The big downfall there is that it takes a ton of time to put out high end content like that and you lose your playerbase by the time more of your high end content is ready for release. Anet has said that they arrived at their 2 week schedule because the data showed that that is how long it takes for interest to drop off and for people to start logging in less. If the content was done in the manner of high end, single player console games, they’d lose people like crazy as they waited months for new stuff.
What you say may very well be true but I feel continuously pumping out sub-par mediocre level content every 2 weeks is a temporary solution at best. Eventually, it’s going to take it’s toll and the same decline will happen. They need to have a balance between quality and speed which they really don’t right now and I always say this, they’re just using borrowed time and it’s all going to go down hill if they don’t fix something soon.
Besides isn’t that how traditional MMOs ran anyways, most mmos didn’t pump content out every month or even every 2 months. Expansions were release once every year if you’re lucky. Playerbase shouldn’t be determined by future content, but that current content is SOLID and that players enjoy and continue to enjoy playing it. And this doesn’t mean end game grinding gear for years is the answer.

Come on guys, think with your head for a second. MF is a non combat related stat. Asking for a 10 % or even any % buff for other combat related stats is just absurd.
However, MF armor (the one with 3 stats) does need an appropriate replacement since those exotics will be missing a whole stat.
ITT: people who have no idea what the current best dungeon setup is discussing how it’s so bad…
Although the tried and tested G/3W/M setup is still decent, there are better setups out there. Most decent dungeon guilds have started regularly taking elementalists in their runs because of the superior damage, might stacking and Fury stacking in comparison to warriors. Guardians aren’t needed at all, except for some dungeons, where they just make things easier. Mesmers are pretty bad and unless it’s specifically for lupi, there is little reason to bring them in any dungeon. Oh, and camping Axe/Mace is actually superior DPS than the Axe/Mace + GS rotation. I usually only take a GS when we don’t have an elementalist in the party, or when we’re doing lupi.
Stop pretending you know anything about dungeon speed clearing just because you can do CoF p1 fast with inferior builds.
Not to mention, the trinity hasn’t been a ‘trinity’ for at least 3-4 months. Basically, our team setups usually go something like Guardian, Elementalist, Warrior, DPS, DPS. That can even be an engineer or a Ranger, most good dungeon runners stopped caring about classism 4 months ago. The information just needs to get to the bads and the casuals, which usually takes about 5-6 months.
I don’t think this post was about class inferiority or preference (at least I wasn’t fighting for any specific class). It was more about DPS builds being most favorable in any situation since bosses and mobs die before the can dish whatever mechanic they had which leaves support or control type builds kind of useless in some people’s perspective. Good try though, for what it’s worth, I agree with most of the points you’ve said e.g. no prejudice against different classes.
I’m neutral about this but I can tell you this, anet will only resentfully follow player feedback if you’re the majority.
Trinity doesn’t solve anything though. Adding a trinity will just dumb down the game even more. The solo lupi warrior video didn’t prove anything but that the player was skilled enough to understand and dodge all the mechanics the boss threw out. Something trinity implemented games probably couldn’t do but in a group of 5, it would be a billion times easy than a group of 5 currently. So what’s your point? add trinity so the game gets dumb downed even more but at least people are forced to group up and worship tanks and healers? or instead, people still have to group up to finish a dungeon but some elites c an choose to solo a dungeon and taking 10x longer.
I disagree with many things anet has done but this is NOT one of them.
Oh btw, the real problem is crappy mob ai and cheap boss mechanics like high HP which is causing people to go the DPS route.
It’s funny to read people say that the holy trinity would dumb down the game when the PvE strategy in Guild Wars 2 is to stack 5 people in berserker gear and dodge red circles on the ground. On the other hand, MMOs with the trinity use it to design extremely varied and interesting boss encounters. For example, in WoW’s Throne of Thunder raid, there isn’t a single boss that will let you zerg it, and while you have tanks holding the boss’ aggro, there’s still tons of things to watch out for everyone. I’m sorry to say it but so far it’s a solid 1-0 for the holy trinity in PvE, it’s just a lot more compelling and fun than whatever design we have in the game right now. (And no it’s NOT damage/support/control). Although to be fair with GW2 I just came back from a 4 months break and I heard that the bosses of the temporary dungeons during my absence were a lot more fun than the ones in the original dungeons.
Now, I’m not really asking for a holy trinity. I would actually prefer if they brought the support and control role in the game instead and work from there since that’s what they promised in the first place. The video does a pretty good job at describing what breaks dungeons and what could be done to bring support and control back in the foreground. There’s also the fact that a lot of people prefer playing support and group-oriented roles, and the control and support roles would be very interesting for those people. I have someone in my guild in another MMO who plays 4 priest healers, and I have another friend who has one tank of every class that can tank in that same MMO (I kind of like tanking as well). How can the PvE be fun to people like them if it’s “go zerk of gtfo”. Support (healing is some form of support) and control (tanking is some form of control) needs to be relevant and helpful.
Dungeons were intended to be the high-end PvE activity, so something is obviously wrong with them when jumping puzzles and achievement grinding are more popular than dungeons in almost every “what activity do you prefer” polls.
What you’re missing out is that it wasn’t the holy trinity which made the dungeon great. It was the “mechanics” of the mobs/bosses which made the dungeon fun (which is the idea i’ve been trying to sell). The boss mechanics needs to be improved, and zerking your way through everything needs to be adjusted. And I have mentioned somewhere above one possible way to do this.
When I say holy trinity dumb things down, I mean it really does dumb things down for 3 of the 5 players (in a 5 man instance). Sure there may still be things to avoid, timings to get used to, but this has to be done by the healer and the tank as well, meaning 2 players have a much heavier responsibility than the other 3 besides from keeping everyone alive. Though tbh, with some of the addons available in wow, playing that game is almost like botting nowadays.
Oh btw, the real problem is crappy mob ai and cheap boss mechanics like high HP which is causing people to go the DPS route.
Adding trinity doesnt dumb down anything especially a soft trinity. Holy trinity maybe I dont know. But what is really dumbing down is everying DPSing.
That’s my point though. Sorry when i was referring to trinity i was referring to the “holy trinity” the classic WoW mmo type.
I’m saying, if they want their soft trinity to work, they need a viability for it, and this in the core, comes down to mob and boss mechanics. Instead of cheap high hp bosses, have bosses that actually require thinking and strategy with reasonable HP (so people don’t go for the zerker it all the way) and no i’m not talking about cheap one hit mechanics either Anet. In a way, anet has somewhat tried to move in this direction, most of the gauntlet bosses had low amounts of hp and it was more of the boss mechanics you had to learn rather than just trying to burst down with pure DPS.
However, high dps builds were still favorable in that instance just because high damage was still able to burst down the bosses. Imo, slightly higher hp but not ridiculous levels, reduce boss damage by about 1/4 at least then. The goal is the make the boss fights last longer but not stupidly long. That way, high dps can’t zerk their way through since their buffs only have so long.
However, group wise, that is a different matter, if they want supports to matter more, they’re going to have to buff supports skills a bit, but if they do it wrong, then support is going to be a necessary requirement in a group and thus leaning closer towards our old healer tank style.
So one step at a time, improve the boss mechanics first, don’t favor high DPS builds as the way to go then we’ll talk about how to find the balance between support and damage
I have a sneaking suspicion that SAB is going to be a let down like every other sequel in existence.
… The Dark Knight?
Health ledger sacrificed his life points to hype that one up though. If you watch it again, you find it was just above average, I preferred the first tbh. The 3rd dark knight rises had tonnes of plot holes.
But regardless, not saying SAB is going to be bad, in any case, it’s probably going to be one of the better updates compared to the living story stuff we’ve been getting so far. At the very least, Anet can get away with not having a decent story since this is more a for fun thing. Anet really needs to go back to how to present a great story to an audience 101.
I have a sneaking suspicion that SAB is going to be a let down like every other sequel in existence.

I personally don’t even do the events even if they did give great loot. I don’t find farming fun lol.
t7 mats will not be mineable with the unlimited picks/axe/sickle. You will require an ascended pick to mine it
Why do I say this? because it’s best to assume the worst~
The problem is anet is treating players like idiots. They’re using cheap tactics to see short term benefits. Most of their content revolves milking as much real $$ they can from their players as much as they can. There is NOTHING wrong with trying to make money for your game, after all they need it to survive. The real problem is, they’re paying no regards or respect to the story or to the players anymore. Sure, complaints are usually a minority but that doesn’t mean the ISSUE is a minority. How often do you get a person who bothers to actually sign up on the forum and make a topic about their distress. I would generously estimate only about 1/100, probably a LOT less than that. Most people who are unhappy will probably try to tolerate it or just express it amongst friends (unless anet is secretly spying on all our party and guild conversations). They would be unhappy but do not express their concern. How often do you go to a restaurant and the food taste like crap or just mediocre and you request the chef for an explanation or ask them to remake. Probably not most people. This is because most people are NICE. We’re SHEEPS. We don’t talk or voice our opinion enough and anet quietly giggles away thinking they’ve done a great job. Gem sales are off the roof, players must be happy! But over time, people can only eat kitten for so long before they get fed up and leave and this is really what I think is going to happen to guild war 2 very soon. They’re running on borrowed time unless they get their act together.
I really want anet to just go back to, monthly content maybe even every 2 months. I rather they frequently polish their current game for bugs etc and THOROUGHLY test their new content before putting it out there. Some jobs would cost human lives for frequency of errors they make. How many times have we seen the “accidentally made xx boss slightly too easy to kill” or “adjusted the drop rate of xx from xx mob”.
Of course, this wouldn’t generate as much money because new content brings in spike of people and new items also causes spikes in income for them so they will likely no go this route for financial benefit and I really wouldn’t care if they didn’t but at the rate they’ve been going, they’re just not competent enough to handle this kind of output. They could have presented the current story so much better, so much more understandable but they just kittened it all up. Just look at all the great responses and predictions we have in the lore forum and they just kittened it all up with a one dimensional story and villain who actually had quite a charming and good voice actress accompanied with it but there just wasn’t any depth because we could barely relate to the character at all.
The other issue I have is, how can so many basic bugs be overlooked. What and how many testers are they using? In most new content, I can spot quite a few bugs already or foresee certain ones just within the first 10-30 minutes of play. Maybe they need to select more experienced testers or reward testers for bringing to their attention ground breaking bugs with gems etc? Otherwise, it’s very possible the information is held out from them so they can maximize profit when it’s release? I dunno what i’m talking about here since I dunno how they do testing but every single time a new content comes out, I’m always like.. “sigh anet, did you even bother testing this or did you just have monkeys run through your content”.
it’s not, it’s the games way to remove excess items from the market. Existed since the game begun.
I am sure a lot of the feedback on the forums right now is hard to read as a developer, we are merciless critics.
I can however understand the villain Scarlet in your minds when you created her with all the story was a good villain, however when you just came into it and saw this lady who is suppost to be a genius, doing all these dumb things… It just does not seem believable.
I actually like Scarlet and wanted her to be a successful character, but even after reading everything about her (which hould of been in the game 3-4 months prior.) she feels rushed. She could of been so much more, and the story could of as well.
This is why you don’t rush content. I know your trying to keep a good schedule of new things to do every 2 weeks, but why do them for the story when its … well.. I don’t want to say anything that would make a developer cry, because I know how much effort people put into story making.
Na, Anet won’t find it hard to read because they just won’t agree with it. They basically will all think, we can’t please everyone, the forum complaints are a minority, the majority is still happy. And their bases of this is their sales and server population but that will change with time…
The problem people usually have with pvemanders are people who tag up for no reason or keep their tag up 24/7 for no reason at all. e.g. Lion arch has a bunch of them.
Everyone should know by now anet is no good at presenting a story.
Liadri camera angle was harder.
I can kill deadeye on any class like a farm post patch with 4 gambits. 5 is pushing it but 4 is just as good to be honest. The only change is I can’t put the quaggan in.
Crap. Deadeye was probably my best (maybe even only shot) at getting the gambit achievements. Yet another example of ArenaNet’s exploit early and exploit often philosophy. Thanks for ruining things for those who haven’t gotten that far yet farmers!
Can’t really blame the farmers, you can only blame anet for implementing something which was farmable if they didn’t like farming.
In the same sense however, is anet employer is doing everything they can to stop their employees to improve workflow. Very logical.

+1 on all your posts Lafiel
Thanks
really hope this helps more people out there
I just want to add as well, I don’t believe this boss needs a nerf although in the future, Anet should consider to not using cheap camera angles and 1 hit mechanics on their bosses.
I am still struggling a lot (trying 8 orb achi). What kills it for me are two things.
1) Poor red circles visibility (thats tied to camera issues).
2) Random nature of cosmic orbs. I cant count how many times I had a very nice try and suddenly I got zipped to the other side of the room, straight into 1-shot AoE. The orb even knocks you down which means you cant dodge immediately.I tried to tune my monitor setting as much as I could, I tried different options. But no matter what I do, AoE circles vision remains to be very poor. That grate texture just kills it. And orbs? Its sometimes random. Nobody cant deny it. There are times when I can spot them spawning right away and 1 second later I realize that there is nothing I can do to avoid being downed. Will keep trying but I am already way beyond my treshold.
Something I forgot to mention is to turn post processing off if you haven’t already with your settings at minimum. It’s hard to give a good tip on how to improve aoe visibility since this is anet’s fault but I do understand some people have a harder time seeing the aoes than others. The only thing I can recommend is, try to stay away from the edges. It is actually best to stay somewhere around the middle because from there you can access all four quadrants of the arena without having to run a long distance.
Almost 99 % of the time, people die because they’re caught out of position and have run out of dodges + cripple. So try not to get yourself in that situation. If you DO get yourself in that, try aoe all the illusions around you and you may be able to pull off a instant rally.
With the orbs, try mind your surroundings and kill them as soon as you can see them or pop stability quick.
Look up on youtube, both guardian and warrior can easily farm t3 deadeye with 5 gambits. Hope this helps. Warrior zerker build can kill deadeye with 5 gambits in one go. (don’t get squeamish)
Use hammer, try watch for the animation of his throw and be there before the dog. Kinda predict when he will throw it and use the hammer 5 on the dog (and frequent hammer 3). use speed buff + dodge roll to make sure you get the meat first. By the 3rd meat that you’ve eaten, the dog should be dead. If you can’t kill the dog by the 4th meat, you’re not killing it fast enough. Try get the symbol out of the hammer as well, it’ll help with damage. The food buffs you damage by heaps so a zerker build isn’t alwas the best idea. I did it with PPT.
I can tell you exotic forging is the best way to go for pre. I’ve forged the same gold cost of rares and got none back.
Well, it’s not really the customers fault if they don’t implement functions to promote what they want their game to play. For example, WvW, there can be SO many additional changes to the commander tag function which could greatly improve the tactical variety. For example, different tag colours, commanders allowed to mark certain spots, so many excellent suggestions in the suggestion box. What do we get instead? buggy living stories.
The game at the moment is far from the most grindy but it also isn’t considered NOT grindy. Just think about the current living story, why is there tickets which are soulbound, waypoints which cost money, and require us to either farm for money to buy the sprocks to convert to tickets or grind for them with the train. If anet truly didn’t want a grindy game, they could have made any of these changes, remove tickets, make it cost 1s per entry instead of farming tickets, put a cooldown on how fast you can reenter a arena. So many other options than making us farm tickets to do an arena.
As for the events, I don’t believe a lack of positive negative feedback is bad. When you lack in feedback, it means that people didn’t hate it. That is already excellent feedback already, because it means you did something right, people enjoyed the implementation and are enjoying the game. So it’s really the amount of negative feedback you should be looking at and not the positive feedback since we all know, people will complain about bad things but not always commend good things i.e. silence is good.
I think anet is taking the cheap way out by using living story to force/attract players to play their content instead of focusing on perfecting their core elements of the game.

If you need more advices , go read my long post on wiki:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Talk:Liadri_the_Concealing_DarkVisions can be changed into an orb if they touch the lighting pool or are killed by the barrage while being in human form
Is there a human form of visions? How is it appear?
Human form is when they’re not all black
Also, here are really simple solutions off of the top of my head for your issues:
- If you have low FPS, lower your settings or upgrade your computer
- If bosses are being buggy you can guest to another server or simply try again
- If an arena is better than another… then go to the better arena.
- The timing system can be dealt with a full Berserker setup and doing the right things at the right time by either practice or learning of so elsewhereNot beating around the bush, I’m pretty much annoyed with the amount of whining and ‘give up’ mentality going about the forums. The gauntlet is possible, you can do it, and you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to.
-HD 7870, not highest end but surely I don’t believe it is low end.
-Buggy bosses are on all servers. It happens whenever there is long queue and people are fighting different bosses, both people enter or the last boss stays and you end up fighting two bosses. Waste people’s money, ticket and time.
-Why are the arenas not all fair? That just means that people will crowd around the better ones and much longer queue times.
-No idea what timing system you’re referring to so i’ll leave this one alone.
The people who say it’s impossible we know it is not true, but the design of the arena is hugely flawed and it shouldn’t require players to “work around” or “compensate” for unintended difficulties.
