If he bought the game from the gw2 site, he should have had a serial code emailed to him. Have him contact support, they will want that. If he doesn’t have it, they will need to verify other information for him to prove the account is his, and then they can help him.
Theres no point to this post. Its way too late for Anet to change what legendary weapon they want to release next tuesday, if it is the sword then this post had no effect, if it isn’t the sword then no one at Anet could possibly get the sword out instead.
Its not a serious post.
Sadly, the problem with your joke is that it was completely indistinguishable from the people who would seriously ask for this, and expect it to be done.
i mean its less than a week before the release i dont expect anyone srsly to ask this now
You’d be surprised.
That said, I sort of hope its the longbow.
The Doctor is Lazarus?
Or is Lazarus the new Doctor? Does that make Marjory his new companion?
Boy wouldn’t that just be…strange.
Both!
Seriously though, if you have stuff for Frosty currently, start with that and work on the other one over the next couple of months. Then you have options for when you get bored with the look of one.
I also feel Astra is a heck of a lot more work.
There was a GW2 poster in something I watched recently. I don’t recall what it was, but it caught my eye and made me laugh. I had to pause and point it out to my husband. Its the not the first time I’ve seen such (in both tv and movies) for both GW1 and GW2. It always makes me smile.
I don’t see them changing “Retreat!” given that it works similarly to its namesake shout in GW1 (granted, in GW1 it required a dead body). I suppose they could potentially swap it to “Make Haste!” instead, since that’s what it typically gets used for. Granted, thats not how GW1’s “Make Haste!” worked, but, as I am regularly reminded, this isn’t GW1.
Leather price is killing this small guild

The main reason to create a guild is if your goal is to develop a stable community that will last, and that takes commitment and effort, not rewards or enticements. Furthermore, guilds need numbers to be sustainable otherwise its just a glorified party, and the guild crafting is aimed towards larger groups to offer content for that community.
In other words:
It doesn’t matter that your small group of close knit players has been together for 5, 10, 15 years across potentially multiple games. If you aren’t “x” size, you aren’t a guild.
That’s what this argument is boiling down to again.
I decided I absolutely had to have this sword. I only had 5 keys (which I got from pvp reward tracks), and I told myself I was only going to use those keys.
Got the sword on the 3rd key.
I got a letter on an alt, so this can happen.
I only got the first letter on the character I completed his task with. The rest of the letters have always come on a random alt since then. Might just be the first one you log in on, on the scheduled delivery time.
Most people don’t talk. I try to say hi to at least indicate Im open to communication during a game. Personally I cant type and fight, it gets me killed. I do “try” to call for help when needed.
That said, I try to pay attention to what my teammates do at at the start. 1 goes home, 2 go far? Ok, let me check whats rushing mid, might slit off and let them have it and hope the 2 that went far can actually take it. Only one enemy comes mid? Ok, lets check who needs help. My rotations still need help, but I at least try to compensate for what others do.
As a pve primary player, I’m going to concur with many of the statements here that we weren’t pvping for the ascended items this time around. Its not worth the time, pain, or cost with the changes. If we’re playing we’re either doing it because we enjoy pvp to some extent, or because they are giving back some of the bile being dumped on them.
He made that commitment to us, the players. Granted, this can change over time, but currently that commitment still stands and we have not heard anything to the contrary.
Before GW2 launched, Colin said the opposite. They had planned for increasing the level cap at some point, which they said would likely be done in an expansion.
There’s no point in increasing the level cap anymore however, since they can just simulate it instead.
No, what was said was that it wasn’t off the table. They never said they definitively would or would not regarding level cap and armor cap. Which is not the same thing.
Regardless, statements were made prior to launch that best in slot gear should be easy to obtain. That the game wasn’t going to be about chasing that next level of gear. Which is why a lot of GW1 players were extremely upset with ascended. It wasn’t until after ascended came out that the statements were made regarding an increasing power curve. There was enough opposition to that, that eventually we were told that ascended would be the last tier (well before HoT), but we would see stronger infusions in the future that would progress the power curve in a more gentle fashion. I remember making a statement in an argument regarding that announcement that even that would be fine, as long as there was a definitive end to it at some point. That’s what people wanted, an end point. No more constant invalidation of hard work.
We won’t even get into the debate over the ‘easy to obtain’ statement.
I find it interesting that, with the OP’s concern of further gear tiers, no one linked or pointed out Mo’s promise to us at the HoT Pax unveiling that “your max level characters, with your top tier gear, today are still going to be your max level characters with your top tier gear tomorrow.”
He made that commitment to us, the players. Granted, this can change over time, but currently that commitment still stands and we have not heard anything to the contrary.
This also fits with the philosophy of end game gear in GW1. As someone that came to GW2 from GW1 I never really considered that GW2 would be any different. Although most other MMO’s don’t work this way, so that was probably a kittenumption to make on my part, but it did turn out true in the end.
As a GW1 player as well, I also expected similarly in GW2. And such was mentioned in pre-release interviews. How they felt max level gear should be easy to acquire, not about gear slog, etc etc. My sensibilities were rather offended with the introduction of ascended and I remember the very heated arguments about it. Previous statements, arguments, and feelings aside, as long as they stick to this commitment, I can deal.

I played solo last season. Floated around mid gold on both accounts. I’m perfectly happy with that. Figure I’ll probably do the same thing this season.
I just play for the enjoyment of playing. Yes, I grind my teeth at my teammates (often), but meh, what can you do? I’m perfectly happy with gold.
I personally craft, regardless of the TP price. Then I can take my time and just gather things as I play and its a mild feeling of achievement for me.
Could I get more if I just farmed the stuff and sold it and then bought the pre? Sure.
Do I care? Not really.
Why? Because it’s not why I play.
shrug
I’d actually sort of like a library in my home instance, to collect all the books and manuscripts Ive gathered on my ‘travels’ around Tyria.
I suppose the option to auto sort maybe by type or by name (similar to how you can auto-sort icons or files in Windows) might be ok.
Personally, I’d just appreciate some labels for my tabs (that I can see when the tabs are minimized). Pretty please.
- Can not be soloed on my class of choice. Get two shotted on my ele
You really can’t complain about not soloing something needed for a legendary shortbow collection on a class that can’t use shortbow, you know. And Ele is the worst thing for solo content anyway.
What class they opt to do it on is a moot point, considering ascended and legendary grade items are account bound and can be moved from character to character. There is nothing saying ele won’t get shortbow “eventually” through a future elite spec.
I did this on my necro with the intent of giving the bow to my thief.
Regardless, OP, feel free to add me to your friends list and hit me up if you need a hand.
Well that’s….different. Definitely not something I’ve noted before and I’ve been through that area plenty with my sound on.
I wish I’d been aware that this change was coming. Obviously if they gave us a heads up somewhere, I missed it, which sucks even more. However, these changes make the ascended shards on my alt account entirely useless, and now I regret even taking the time to work on that account.
I would second necro as a solid choice, when it comes to pve.
ANET gave away alacrity as it did confusion and Moa.. thereby invalidating an entire HoT specialization, the Chronomancer.
This is a joke right? You paid for a new specialization.. but we’ve decided to take it away from you.. because reasons.
Tired of your qq threads bud. I didn’t see the guardian community coming out in force to qq years ago the moment another class gained access to stability.
Stability was not the primary thrust and signature ability of Guardian. Let’s not forget that ANET also gave away confusion and Moa.. both supposedly unique to Mesmer.
Confusion wasn’t limited to mesmer, they just had the greatest access to it. For the most part, that’s still technically true.
Moa was unique, yes. However, Engineer also got warrior’s Rampage and Ele’s Tornado. Both of which were unique to their classes as well. I’m just waiting for Engi to get Lich Form in some fashion.
I have mixed feelings regarding what I’ve read for changes. I’m trying to not form any strong opinions either for or against anything specifically.
[Until] I have a chance to get into the game and check some of it out first hand.

Given the initial reactions, I can’t exactly blame them for not being overly enthusiastic about talking to the people around here.
so any news on this? it’s supposed to be today, right?
Yes, today is the 22nd. Its only 830am Pacific right now. Normal patches don’t roll out for at least another half hour, generally speaking. So, look for at after that point.
I have everything except scribe maxed at least once. I think I have scribe up to like 25? Its on my to do list, but I have other higher priorities.
I’m almost to the point where I’d be perfectly fine with top stats being nixed altogether. I’m so tired of running into those people who seem to be of the opinion that they are somehow so much more awesome because they got such and such top stat and someone else didn’t.
No. I don’t want to encourage people to go after top stats over winning the game.
People already do this.
I would be fine with being locked to the class I queue with if, and only if, this change also included changes to the matchmaker to ensure no stacked classes (ie, no more 3+ necros or whatever on one side) and the implementation of class specific mmr into calculations.
If they can achieve this, perhaps the next step would be to look at the potential of making the matchmaker smart enough to look at build set ups and create teams accordingly (however, this is highly unlikely).
Naked Faren yet again. This is what…the 4th time?
- Beach speedo
- Scarlet trying to cook him
- Jungle escapades
- And now this?
Did I miss any?
cringe
To be fair, the more disturbing part is that version of Faren is an illusory plaything for the summoning mesmer.
I was avoiding that particular thought line, but yes, that is disturbing too.

Nothing more disturbing than a person using “cringe.” There are other words in the dictionary.
You’d prefer :
shudder
flinch
recoils
winces
You’re going to take issue with my vocabulary choice? Talk about being a bit of a rump.
The inside / outside – corn or chicken suffice as an answer
Cat’s head and cat’s feet is Charr
Half as smart, twice as strong is Centaur.
Those are the only 3 Ive seen between my two runs.

Should “casuals” use berserker gear?
Essentially, this entire argument boils down to – if they feel like they want to, and feel like they can manage, then there is no reason not to. In other words, its personal choice. I know several who “can” but opt not to, just cause they don’t feel like it. They aren’t necessarily worried about killing things ‘efficiently.’ They just play to enjoy themselves. I tend to fall into this category as well. I “can” play just fine in zerk gear, but I have other characters that aren’t kitted out that way that I enjoy playing just as much.
Now you have removed the ability to keep them up in combat, thereby removing any further use in wvw and meta/pve combat…
“All tonics can no longer be consumed while in combat. You will still remain transformed if you consume a tonic before entering combat.”
This doesn’t sound like you become untransformed when you enter combat. This just sounds like you need to have the tonic on you first, you can’t enter combat and then pop one. Or am I misunderstanding the complaint here?
@Slowpokeking, many of us are not happy that the patch did not come today. However, we are also aware that kitten happens. Its called life. Anet is a business. A business which was impacted by unexpected weather. They aren’t the first and won’t be the last to be put in a position where an item was stated as being available to customers, but ended up being postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. It happens every day in the consumer market to varying degrees.
They still made they attempt to deliver the patch despite the set back, to the best of their ability. They took it right down the to the line for business hours, and only then admitted defeat in meeting today’s deadline. However, they have also stated that they plan on working through the night to get this pushed out, which is admirable. Many companies will not do this.
We understand that you’re disappointed. So are we, but you need a serious wake up call regarding how life apparently works.
It’s not like we are asking them to pay us money, just some ingame stuff which will cost them nothing other than click some program.
Whether or not it will cost them anything (which, technically it does since someone has to take the time to do it, and that person gets paid for taking that time), is entirely beside the point. They do not owe you anything. Being disappointed does not equate to getting free stuff. That’s just not how things work. It’s not like you’re not getting the content “at all.” Its just going to be several hours later than previously expected. Its no different than a raincheck.

Thank you for the heads up, Mr OBrien.
Mother Nature can sometimes be very…temperamental.
You mean the West coast? Because Anet is Pacific time – West coast. Not East.
Oops my bad. Still though, not everyone lives there either. ^^
Yup, I’m very aware.
Depending on what time the patch hits, I may or may not be in bed. I typically go to bed around 9pm because I’m up at 5am. Factor in my slow kitten internet, its highly unlikely I’ll get to check out the new patch tonight.
i understand problems happen but camon on EU more specify Portugal is already 23.37 i real want play a bit of episode 4 before to bed…. most of people work ….
I know what you mean. I understand they can’t give an exact time, but an estimate would be really welcome right now..
They keep insisting it will release “today”. What does that mean? Not everyone lives on the east coast….
You mean the West coast? Because Anet is Pacific time – West coast. Not East. Its almost 7pm eastern time, which makes it almost 4pm pacific (anet) time. Im assuming they are aiming for having this released by EoD their time, which would be by 5. However, I’m sure overtime isnt out of the question unless they run into significant issues.
What’s in my wallet?
Lint.
And dust.
Possibly a spiderweb or two.
Maybe we could get patch notes while we wait?
Maybe?
Pretty please?
Mother Nature needs a stern talking to about the timing of her parties.
Its ok to just be yourself. Even if sometimes that means you kill everything that moves, and other times you just run by it.
Its ok to completely shut off chat because you just don’t feel like being social while you play.
Its ok to go out of your way to collect every gathering node you see, be it wood, ore, or plant. Regardless of its worth, or lack of.
It is ok to stop what you’re doing and participate in every event you come across for no other reason than you enjoy doing so.
Finally got to watch the trailer…
…uhm. So DR’s getting trebbed with giant bloodstone crystals. That not reminiscent of anything, now is it? Not at aaaaaallll….. /sarcasm
Time to whoop some White Mantle rump.
Those crystals from gw1 were searing cauldron crystals. Completely different things. But since theyre used for bombardment it might as well be the same thing
I’m aware. I did play GW1 for 9 years. That’s why I used the term “reminiscent.” As it seems very similar to what we have seen before. Regardless of what’s actually launching the things (or what they are made out of. Do we know what the searing crystals were made out of? I don’t recall).

Its nice that you can get into Bitterfrost after the first character opens it up, but I really like the scrolls. Once you have them, its essentially a free WP to the map. (Yes, I’m cheap)

I’m fine with some of the “character development” (ie: hero points) being group based. Especially since if I really can’t get any help (looking at you Mushroom Queen), I can go grab some of the scrolls from wvw and get it that way. However, my preference is less than 50%. There are plenty of other things that the ‘group content’ tag can be applied to.
Admittedly, I was not a huge fan of the verticality in the maps at first. It made me think of KC (from Factions) on steroids, and I dreaded it. However, then, like now, once I learned my way around, it wasn’t quite as awful as I thought it’d be. I’d expect we’ll continue to see layered maps, and I’m ok with that.
As for power creep.. it’s going to happen. We saw it in GW1, we’ve seen it in GW2. We can only pray they get better at balancing in a swifter fashion.
