Doing my Daily.

Having fun with the different Professions and Races.
Leveling lots of different disciplines.
Basically, having lots of fun doing all the above. Don’t have a character higher than 38 yet though.

Sometimes it doesn’t work for me. Sometimes it does. I can’t figure out why, as the rest of the game is fine all the time. I’m on a Mac too.
Sometimes I click on Sell My Stuff and it just sits there on the main screen and doesn’t go to that tab.
Cheers.

Thats… alot of money, why? O.O
A lot of money? When starting a character, 8 slot Jute bags can be bought for about 30c. That’s not a lot of money.
Cheers.
He’s talking about increasing the number of bags you can equip, not slots within a bag.
Ahh got it. Bag slots, not bags. My bad.

at level 22 i find most white items vend for more than you could sell the salvaged materials for. ie – vend for 10c, salvage and get 1 copper ore which sells for like 3c
Hmm, good point. I guess I could vendor them and then buy the mats I need for crafting. I’ve been concentrating on salvaging for the mats I need, but what you suggest might be a better way to go. I’ll check it out.
Cheers.

Hi,
Well, I guess some small spoiler alert is needed and don’t read any further if you’re not level 20 yet.
Anyway, all races get the same sort of story at level 20. I won’t go into details.
I was expecting different races to have totally different stories. I guess that was too much to ask. I guess SWTOR really still is the king of story lines now.

Thanks everyone. The character I’m playing is only level 22 at the moment, so I guess I’ll stick with Crude for the whites, and only worry about better salvage kits at high levels.

Anyone got a more thorough explanation?

One tip that I think will help you. Make sure to do your Daily tasks once per day. Progress can be viewed in the game from the Hero tab → last button on left (achievements I think it says).
Kill 15 different types of foes
Kill 60 overall foes
Gather 20 items
Complete 5 events
Just do stuff normally and then check your progress and do what you have left over.
This rewards a Mystic Coin, Karma Jug (that gives 4500 Karma), and some coin (about 1 or 2s at low levels). Well worth it.
Welcome to the game, it’s a blast.
Cheers.

Just wondering what the difference is between the different Salvage Kits? Crude, fine, etc.
I usually only salvage white stuff, and vendor the blues and greens. Do the different salvage kits give different chances of results on whites, or blues, or greens, or what?
TIA. Cheers.

The thing is that it resets for everyone at the same time. So when its 6 pm for you, its 1 am for me. No matter how they would set it, it could mess with anyones schedule.
What are you going on about? Just find out when it resets for you, determine the time of day you want to do the daily and go. It resets at 4pm for me, so I do it in the evening.

Just do the daily at the same time every day. There, solved.

Hey I understand everyone that it’s all personal taste.
So was transmogrification in WoW, which I didn’t touch.
So, I don’t really care at all how my character looks. I wish I could trade them to people who want them more that I do. I’ll keep them and try to upgrade and keep the slot stats as someone mentioned.
Cheers.

You realize you can stack them all in your bank? No need to carry them around on each character.
Good point. An awesome post as usual.
My bank is full, but when I free up a slot, I’ll do that.

I really don’t see the point. These are just using up space. I think I’ll just delete them.
What a useless reward for completing a map. Why can’t they give some more crafting mats instead?
Oh well.

Hi,
Got some of these on each of my Characters and have no real clue what to do with them.
What do you do with them, or what do you suggest I do with them?

Well….
Sylvari Female = Leah from D3 = Lady Commander Shepard
… So what nationalities are Leah and Shepard?
Well, Jennifer Hale is American (born Canadian), so I guess that answers it.

On #6: Earn enough Karma to purchase an exotic armor set
I thought you couldn’t purchase exotic armor with Karma. Is that right?
Cheers.
You can purchase exotic armor with karma from the Temples in Orr, if they are controlled by the pact. Each piece costs 42k karma.
Thanks very much. I googled Temples of Orr and now know everything about them. And 42K is not much. That’s less than 10 dailies worth.

I wonder if Arenanet could actually tell me if British VAs voiced the Sylvari. I am genuinely very interested.

Hi,
The Sylvari are awesome. British accents. I just love them. I don’t know if they got Brits to voice them, but if they are Americans putting on the accent, props for a very good job done.
I only started Sylvari as my 4th character, but I might just ignore the others and play straight through to 80.
They are so AWESOME!
Cheers.

Hello! I moved around the different cities and completed all the hearts (except Asura, I can’t find the portal to the quest area). So now I’m not sure what to do.
I’m a level 12 ranger. Quite interested in crafting. Maybe I’ll look at that – but how do I go about doing it. I looked at the crafting section but there’s no guide.
Are you doing your personal storyline? That will give you good xp and gear etc.
As to Crafting, use the little eye button on the bottom left of the map to select only crafting, and when in a city (like Divinity’s Reach), you’ll be able to see where all the crafting tutors are. Go to one of them, and then start that craft. You can have two Crafts going on at once.
Good luck.
Cheers.

Thanks. I haven’t fully explored Caledon Forest yet, so I didn’t see the Crafting tables yet.
I’ll go back to the Grove to check it out.

Hi,
I’m level 6 and doing stuff in the 1-15 zone. I am able to get to Trading Post and vendors etc., but no Crafting tables and no Bank.
Where’s the first City we come across that has all these?
You know, like Divinity’s Reach for Human and Rata Sum for Asura etc.
Cheers.

Oh drat. I just chose ‘ish’. I thought my guild name ‘Brits Ahoy’ would have been shown.
Can I change it?
EDIT: LOL. I now realize that I chose the perfect tag. All my names end in …brit. So with ish, it now becomes …..brit [ish]. Cool

Hi,
When you create a Guild, you name it, but you also give it a tag.
What is that tag ever used for, or when is it ever displayed?
Cheers.

Well, it looks like you’ve done the math. If you are correct, then spending an hour in a high level zone and using the money gained to buy mats is more efficient than spending time in a low level zone gathering mats.
Whether it’s intended or not, it’s the most efficient.
What was probably intended was:
Now you’re level 80, you want to go back and do the other low level zones for 100% map completion, and you’ll get enough mats for a second craft.
That’s what I’m planning to do on my Warrior. I’m only leveling Weaponsmithing at the moment, but will go back to the other low level zones for map completion and level a 2nd craft.
Cheers.

Crafting is growing on me. At first I hated it, because I wasn’t getting enough mats (scales etc.) to even get to 75. But once I started more characters with more crafts, and found http://www.guildwars2-crafting.com/ I’m enjoying it a lot more.
Cheers.

Well, that really sucks. I was looking forward to getting the rewards on all characters, and didn’t mind doing it on all characters. Oh well, I guess I’ll rotate the completion on different characters so that they’re all well rounded.
Cheers.

Hi,
Do you only get to do the Daily once for all your characters? It certainly looked that way last night. I completed on one, and went on a another and it showed all the stuff needed for the Daily being completed.
Cheers.

Sorry, nope Gele.
When facing a veteran for a skill point, I tend to end up dying using a Greatsword. When using a Rifle, I kite it and kill it no problem with hardly any health gone.
BTW. I’m only level 36, so things may certainly change at higher levels.
I started a Sylvari Mesmer, and the Sylvari opening storyline is epic!
Cheers.
You’re doing something wrong with your warrior.
Most likely. My reflexes aren’t that great, and I have trouble moving around the foe while using a Greatsword, so I prefer the laid back backing up of using a rifle with knockback and bola and healing to get me through a tough fight. I will sometimes switch to GS when foes get close though.
And yeah, Engineer looks pretty awesome, and I haven’t taken Leatherworking on any character yet, so my Engineer could take that.
Thanks for the advice all. So Slyvari Mesmer, and Charr Engineer it is!
Cheers.
Updated every Monday
Don’t forget the Engineer as a profession suitable for fighting at range.
(Also very much in flavour for a Charr who is a member of Iron Legion.)
Hmm, wasn’t aware of that. I’ll check it out. Thanks.
Cheers.

Hi,
Can you help me complete filling my character slots please.
I have:
Human Ranger
Norn Warrior
Asura Elementalist
I prefer ranged DPS (I even use my Rifle mostly on my Warrior). So, I’m thinking Necromancer and Mesmer for the final two.
I need to use Sylvari and Charr. Which do you think should be which? Or do you think I should go with something other than Mesmer and Necromancer?
Thanks. Cheers.

Yes, OP, I love the game as it is too.
I have yet to get a character past level 35, but really enjoy doing my daily, exploring the zones completely, and advancing my crafting, and the storyline.
When I ask for help with something in chat, there are usually about 2-3 people who immediately offer to help. It’s really a great community.

I think Elementalist fits the definition of Glass Cannon pretty precisely.

Here’s another tip that might seem obvious to some people, but certainly caught me by surprise.
If you’re coming from WoW, you may assume that Blue gear is better than Green gear, because that’s the way it works in WoW.
Wrong. In GW2, it’s the opposite. Green gear is better than Blue gear. Especially important when buying from Heart vendors for Karma, because they usually offer Green and Blue versions of the same gear.
Cheers.

Make sure you do your daily achievements. Go into the hero tab and choose the last icon to see what you need to do. Completing this will give you a small amount of money, but more importantly 4500 karma. Dailies are not very hard to complete.
For the “Kill” requirements, know that white named things like sparkfly and rat and such do count.
This is really good advice. I didn’t know this until recently, and over the past 4 days I’ve got tons of Karma. The Mystic Coins (used later at the Mystic Forge) are good too. The Daily requirement is:
Kill 15 different types of foes
Kill 60 foes
Gather 20 resources
Complete 5 events
So, it’s pretty easy to do just by doing Hearts and Events in a zone. As the poster said, the achievement tab from your Hero tab (h) is where you see your progress.
Good luck.
Cheers.
