Torch 4 doesn’t need to be touched at all. Merciful Intervention should be Ground ground targetable for more functionality/or targetable for those you want to teleport too (example, selecting one of your teammates as a target.)
Is that a bad thing? Guardians are a balanced profession. They have weakness and sacrifice for what they want to do. Not having the best of both worlds. WvW Roaming theif is only good at ganking, and in small groups Venom share is a option for those who want to play a daring/risky build. In any case Spvp wise guards are only good for bunkers and a certain extent a meditation play style some choose to play. WvW Zergs idgaf about since everything is about stacking defense things so you don’t die in the massive lag fest pressing one, roaming is hard because easily kited, and easily condition spammed, PVE they’re pretty good, but who the hell complains about PVE? THe place is only constructed of AI and predictable movements with HP sacks they call Champions and Legendary mobs.
I am pretty sure he is talking about tpvp and is questioning why no other profession can take the role of the guardian in a team.
It is not that the guardian is not balanced, it is that it is the only profession designed to fill this role while the other roles on a team ideally could be filled by various professions.
In the ideal world you could bring a none thief roamer, but there are no other choice when it comes to the guardian.
i’ve seen Warriors and Engies bunker points with impressive pressuring power, and mobility(also the ability to actually and possibly kill people). The whole thing about Guardian in Spvp is two key things. Standing on a point and ensuring team gets points, and team fights where you can apply good support. That’s it. Outside of that guardians don’t have much else to provide. They aren’t fast mobile point cappers, they aren’t assassins that can pressure DPS/pressure characters well unless they are very immobile. In any case Guardians aren’t the only bunkers, some just function differently while Guardian has things that make surviving easier, but sacrifice for that, but other classes carrying things that the guardian does not have and aslo counts as multi-purpose survivability.
I’ve never in my entire year of playing GW2 felt that Gaurdians weren’t balanced. They aren’t so much a requirement as they are awesome to have due to the nature of the class being support for the group regardless how the gaurd is build.
For the other professiosn they have their niches and mechanics. Engies can bunker well and actually kill people. Certain classes can eat guardians up 1v1 easily. Spvp meta has a lot of Condition spam and CC. Also I’ve seen eles wreck Team battles with Ice bow damage and Metor showers. Hurts pretty bad.
Elementalist can crap out team support like a guardian and can offer better team healing if you’re using staff, mesmers act as DPS support, necros and hammer warriors are control types. Engies can bunker great as well and actually kill people.
Thieves have also been brought down to a pretty acceptable level, and honestly could probably use a little love since they’ve been losing so much of their mobility yet not getting much in return.Warriors are a disease on the game and need to be looked at with a flamethrower.
Have you ever seen a meta without Guardian?

I would love to see Vigor gone from the game, or at least made very hard to gain as a boon.
The whole reasoning behind the current Berserker meta is because the ‘best’ players can dodge whenever necessary, removing the need to trait defensively. How can they dodge so much? Permanent or near-permanent vigor gained through extremely accessable traits and sigils).
For example, the fact that a guardian has access to essentially permanent vigor means that they don’t have to rely on their various blinds and aegis. Removing that vigor means that they have to play more cautiously and their party wide support is more greatly appreciated.
Thoughts?
Guardian HAS to play cautiously all the time. Low mobility, no soft CC, bottom tier hp…the Guards that don’t play cautiously get get shredded quickly

Ever been kited by a mesmer, or condition spammed/bombed before? I know I have a bunch of times. Without any soft CC or actual decent swiftness uptime(Convenient, not the bull attached to staff SoS or Retreat!) guardian’s are bottom tier of mobility and pressure tree(not as bad as necro mobility but necro has a crap ton of soft CC and such to control foes) Guardians already have to choose between survivability or the ability to do damage. Spvp bunker guard is the only real TPVP use for them, and some certain extents, meditation guard for DPS orientated builds. Nerfing vigor on guard is gutting their survivability more. Lowest HP tier, and has to be active with defense abilities (Aegis, Blinds) protection is only good against power builds. Guardians easily get gunned down by condition overloads(Not enough condition removal to keep up with reapplication) due to low Health pool. Vigor nerfs will only lead to less healing from selfless daring. it’s also possible they are reworking energy sigil as well.

Thieves take some skill to use properly. Thieves don’t need anymore nerfs. Other classes are much more forgiving.

Now these are just some thoughts…but here we go, for builds that want to do a hybrid power burn based build. If you want to make them much more of a option to actually use, trait moving is required, and some new ones to be made.
Supreme Justice- Moved down to Adept tier.
Retaliatory Subconscious- Removed and replaced with a master trait that uses “Stand Your Ground” When CC’d.(90 ICD)
Permeating Wrath- 2 options for this trait to be used more: 1(Combine Supreme Justice with this trait, and have the passive effect remain after use, which would be a grandmaster trait)
2(Move this traitdown, and combine “Indomitable Courage” With Shielded Mind for a Grandmaster slot, and move Permeating Wrath to master tier)
Kindled Zeal- Passive remains the same, added a new effect:
(1) When striking a foe with the burning condition you acquire a stack of Purifying Fire, that reduces incoming Conditions by 50% for 3.5 seconds. (ICD 5s)
(2)Every time your foe is damaged by burn, inflict 1 stack of Torment(can scale up to 5 stacks and can be further increased with Condition duration) and a random soft CC (Chill, Cripple immoblize) for 1 second.
(3) Whenever you apply burn you deal 300 damage +(power x 0.50) not mitigated by protection or armor. (numbers can use some tweak so it isn’t a OP trait)
i think these are interesting ways to make Kindled Zeal a more interesting trait worthy to be picked up and perhaps open it more builds., and improves some of the not so good traits. What do you think about these sort of changes? bad, good? needs work?
Guardians are good at buffing warriors and carrying their banners for them.

Why are the upcoming Ferocity changes also targeting WvW, instead of PvE-only? They were mentioned not to be necessary for PvP. I know it’s a small community, but this will hurt glassier builds in Obsidian Sanctum dueling. I’m guessing it also has larger implications for the Borderlands and EB, where tankier and condition/attrition builds are already more meta than pure damage builds. Thoughts?
EDIT: I posed the thread to one of my guilds since I have the first post, and they want to know when we’re getting Luxon Siege Turtles in WvW. I fully support this motion.
I second this. WvW is already riddled everywhere with tanky condition based builds. Ferocity changes will impact crit/power builds severely in WvW. Not to mention full zerkers will lose 10% of their total damage, this means that mixed builds with zerkers mixed lose more damage than full zerkers. What are your thoughts about this? Perhaps splike Ferocity changes so it only effects PvE? if not why does Condition damage get off free from damage nerfs in WvW.

Condi spamming engies has always been up there with the mesmers as BS to face if they’re decent, you just need to know your skill layout cooldowns/roations etc. You just need to walk away, if you ever see one, otherwise get Condi AoE to death, while being kited around with lots of conditions..
I see you play guard and war… that might have something to do with eng’s and mesmers being hard (although an anti cond war setup with a lot of cc can do ok vs eng).
Some 1v1 profession matchups are just that way. The game isn’t balanced for 1v1 unfortunately.
You have a better chance vs an eng on war/guard than an eng does vs. a necro at least…
Yeah i do play Guards and Warriors mainly, but i also have a Ele, a Necro, and a theif(necro is a power spec) I spend some time with them in roaming and practicing on certain combos either in Spvp or on regular mobs. Guards lack Good soft CC to keep kiters in range, and scepters exceptionally laughable. Warriors that get Zerker stance only need to be outlasted for 10 sec something a engi can do. Also Dhummfire Terror necros 1v1 will kill almost anything in a rotation or two, even bringing stability. The rest of my characters get overloaded with condis if the fight lasts to long.

except hambow warriors aren’t condi bunkers.
Sword+Sword/Bow was capable of an easy 25 stacks of bleed on top of 10s of immobilize on top burning, cripple, torment, and blind.
They were kinda cheesy, but probably the most fun I had playing a warrior.
If you want to talk about cheesy, revisit the hammer warrior/ Mace Shield, Greatsword Warrior Meta that happened not to long ago. Might as well call every warrior build cheesy though if it becomes effective.
Already got my condi bunker set for my warrior, because mixed power gear ain’t worth it anymore. And trust me, I got 2k+ hours of WvW roaming on my warrior. It is now going full zerker or tank/support. The last one doesn’t deal damage so condi bunker it is.
I am predicting A LOT of condi warriors roaming now.
of course, literally kill all builds sufficient enough to kill condi bunkers (engineers), and nerf them, while keeping condi spamming around. Yeah! rolls eyes Everyone is going to flock to a condi builds except guardians because guardians have no damaging conditions aside from burning. So now DPS speced guardians are getting kicked in the sack, along with VP nerf. I also really hope they tell us what they plan to do with Celestial’s lost crit damage :| It should be compensated for the time it takes to make a full set(1-2 months, one month for the armor, and however long it takes you to get celestial trinket, via drops, pristine relics, laruals.)

Post up what class/build gives that gives you difficult time, and see if someone answers/gives you tips to improve your play against it. Remember to post Spvp, or WvW so people know what mode of play you’re talking about.
WvW- Necromancer/ Dhummfire Terror build.
I’ve been having a difficult time with these guys lately in wvw roaming, and the dueling arena. Their damage feels insane even with stability(fear prevention). They seem durable to with with death shroud, and life force generation(spectrals, Soul marks), and if i try to play a bi defensively, i get loaded with conditions. So any tips on how to deal with this? I’ve ran healway, and a zerker meditation build(I know zerkers isn’t very ideal vs this sort of build.)
I am new to Guardian (about 2 weeks) I do main Elementalist so the boat is kind of the same against Necromancer. I also have a necro and run a variation of the Dhuumfire build 30/20/20/0/0. Burst is the best hope to kill a Dhuumfire necro 1v1 you can’t attrition them down certainly not with a healway build. When I am out roaming on my Necro, DPS Med Guardians gave me more trouble then any other type of Guardian just like S/D Fresh Air high crit damage eles would be more of a threat then typical D/D eles. The key is to burst through Deathshroud ASAP.
They aren’t really tanky I have 2.8k armor on my necro but I also have 20 points in the toughness line the typical Dhuumfire build sits around 2.5k armor in exotics and 2.6k in ascended. HP with Dire should be around 24k-25k and full Rabid would be base at 18.5k.
The best time to burst cleanse if you happen to get hit by a fear opening is after they go into Deathshroud and start channeling Tainted Shackles which is what causes torment try to dodge the immobilze burst at the end or hold your cleanses until then.
Best weapon to combat a dhuumfire necro as Guardian would probably be Scepter. Match range for range and pay attention to the conditions you get on you and wipe accordingly.
If they have large marks then your blocks won’t work. Guardians and Warriors are the main reason I run 20 in Death magic on my Necro for unblockable marks. The above advice is also true that mobility isn’t really all that good and 1vX is also difficult unless they are brainless and run through all your marks.
This is true however most Dhummfire Terror variation builds I’ve come to face with is 30/20/0/0/20. Necro’s Deathshroud becomes tankier and they get reduced cooldowns on spectrals, and 50% more fear duration, paired with food over 100% more duration on fear(if there is no cap) Zerker based builds you won’t be able to burn through them fast enough before you fall to conditions, or fear condi bombs. I’ve tried scepter before, it works out decently, though still loses out against burn, bleeds and poisons. Going melee with a dhummfire necro is often suicide, unless you do have partners with you.(WvW)
Healway though with soldier runes, i’ve had a 50/50 chance killing these guys, depending how well i play and act on mistakes.
Why is everyone so desperate to make celestial look good when it clearly is not?
It’s meh in PVE, it’s more for PVP/WvW. It’s great for hybrid builds, that use sword and longbow. With my builds going healing shouts no stat goes to waste. Easily critting for 1k each, and damaging conditions like bleeds and burns (torment if you’re dual sword) hurt pretty bad. I’ve been running a full Celestial set(trinkets and armor, runes of Sunless atm) and healing shouts. I’ve been having success in 1v1’s and 1v2-3. Food is flexible now, and I an go with something defensive and not hamper my damage., to scale my damage Superior Sigil of battle and easy access to might stacking(weakness of this is boon steal/strip) so it easily reaches 110+ ticks and 1k+ autos, not to mention Final thrust, rip, and arching arrow are no longer useless to me. If you’re a GS user or Axe, someting that doesn’t utlize the stat then yea it’s not as good, but still flexible for Sword and longbow based build…even rifle to a certain extent.

Necros have many ways to strip and convert/strip boons. The thing is conditions on necro are so easily reapplied since they have them on nearly every weapon skill, and it’s part of their built in mechanic. Corrupt Boon would pretty much turn Guardian’s “Save Yourselves!” into “Kill Yourself” before. CB was a basic I win button against guards, because instead of getting buffed you get severely punished for it, opposed to Contemplation of Purity, which just turns all those conditions into a buff. Guards as far as condition removal, have to trait and rune for it, if they want to survive. Another thing to add is CB used to be blockable before, now it’s unblockable, so your only options are to try to dodge a hard to read attack or hope for a well timed blind.
I can really feel the power of CB now, thank you, I really do.
But if converting Boons into Condi is so powerful, how about converting ALL condi into boons, for example in a 1v1 ,I applied something like 8 to 9 bleed, a poison , a burning, a blind, and even good enough to put a signet of spite on the guard within 10 seconds ( considering I’m not the only one attacking, and the guard have a brain, and he is not standing on the ground not using his defensive skills ) , now he presses one button and . . . . . .( if I have brought my CB i might have some chance, if not ?

When you bring Signet of Spite and a Corrupt Boon into the same bar, that’s the kitten bag way of trolling a guardian. If he contemplation of Purity’s your Signet of spite, and you corrupt boon him, he’s going to have a really hard time recovering from that, since he’s blown a mass condition cover. Guardians already have a low health pool as it is, if they get swarmed with conditions, and lots of cover conditions, they go down pretty fast, you just have to kite them which should be easy, will all the access to soft CC necro has. If you’re a Dhummfire Terromancer in WvW Guards shouldn’t really give you a problem unless they’re really good.
As for Warriors, they’re pretty hard, if you can survive the first 8-10 seconds of Zerker Stance. Then you’ll have a fighting chance. Just be sure to have access to Stunbreaks. The rest on the battle is dependent on the hammer warrior and your plays to outplay him.

Say that to Axe, Focus, Dagger(MH) and Warhorn what do you get with them weapons? Vul, Chill, Cripple The problem is that Staff and Scepter just have to much it means everything else has to be nerfed down assuming that every necro runs Condition builds.
Axe has Vuln stacking and a 1 boon rip with a cripple on 3. It’s mostly for power builds and Life Force Death Shroud builds/power builds.
Focus has Spinal Shivers, boon rip(3 boons) with Chill, the 4 is used to generate Death Shroud and inflict a great amount of Vulnerablity (1v1 up to 12 stacks of Vuln). THat’s also used for power build and anti boon builds.
Dagger….DPS, melee, with Lifesteal (2), Dark pact (Immoblize), fast auto attacks. offhand dagger condi transfer, blinds, and Enfeebling shroud(Bleeds and Weakness)
Warhorn is control, and gives soft CC with locust swarm, Wail of Doom for interrupts via Daze.
Point is, now Necros will always have conditions, since it’s built in. it’s their mechanic, Death Shroud also provides this regardless of your spec.

Fight naked. it’s only appropriate. But other then that try Dire/Apot lb, Sw/x. Wanna see the how it fairs, since I used to run Apot, Celestial on my War.
I run a celestial Geared build too, with Sword/x, and longbow. It adds good versitility, and allows you to change your playstyle without much hassle.

These new faces are pretty good to be honest, they are a LOT more customizable than the default faces. Mess around with the sliders and you’ll see.
All i will say is Celestial gear will give you flexibility, and is more suited to hybrid builds. All this does is make your build well rounded, which is good, but compared to something like zerker gear and what not the damage falls a bit, or a clerics gear, and dodge roll healing.
Change my build and adapt, because my gear lets me do that….Question is will i get to keep my heavy armor look :O?
When i instanced this place……all that was left was a wall and through the bars it looked like the entire area was removed……can you please clarify what happened there? If it was unintentional or not?
I was really looking forward to the skill until i saw the vid demonstrating the skill. They should really just keep the internal cooldown off of it, and reduce the leech damage to something around the 100-200, or just keep the damage portion on a ICD. This thing looks close to useless and Vampiric builds are still left in the low zone. 300 every one sec conditional to being hit, the effect is non-existent. Even on the active portion to it if it’s only procing once every second. Heavy hits will shoot though it easily and burst abilities…you’ll only get it to proc maybe 2-3 times.
Is it limited to just certain skins(buying skins frm the glory vendor) or will we be able to move all the skins we currently own in the locker to PVE?
Depends what you want to do. Personally if you want more control Hydromancy or ice can do alright. If you want more damage Keep Fire Sigil. If you’re looking for survivability Superior Sigil of energy. Sigils alone won’t help the problem with guard mobility. Try Traveler Runes, or speed so you can keep up with people that don’t have 25% MS signet or swiftness. Also try Judge’s intervention if you’re still having problems sticking.
I’ve been playing on Blackgate for about a year now. Sure, there’s blobbing but non-T1 servers like to claim thats all that it is, as if thats all that it takes to reach the top tier. T1 servers have just as many roamers and havoc groups as any other tier. And being a T1 server attracts T1 players, people who want to play against the best competition the game has to offer. Of course it also attracts a fair share of bad players for similar reasons, but you’re more likely to run into higher caliber players than not. I consider myself mediocre at best yet I felt like a big fish in a small pond before I transferred to Blackgate and started playing with and against better players. That’s all neither here nor there though; the hammer hasn’t been the best roaming choice for warriors and it’s about to become even worse. The weapon shines in the blob.
It actually works in the opposite you’re likely able to find more individually skilled players in lower tier servers. T1 is all zergy and group roaming. T1 doesn’t mean you have higher skilled players. T1 means you have better coverage and a lot more people to cover PPT. below T1 and lower you’ll gradually find better players because there isn’t a huge assortment of bads clumping and rolling everything over.

Hammer sucked for roaming period. Maybe against terrible players it was good, but I’m on a T1 server; people know how to dodge.
People in t1 are the worst roamers.Blob 24/7 sucks out any skill from the players.Check lower tiers if you wanna see some decent roaming action .That’s basic knowledge by now .
Uh, no. The best roamers I’ve ever encountered have all been on T1 servers. Break away from the blob sometime; you might find that out.
ehh…..He’s partially correct. From my experiences in roaming in T1(TC is like Tier 1.5) it’s always blobs or groups. Roaming in Ruins there’s always some sort of group that mows down roamers. The ones i do find singled out are generally bad in my many encounters with them. The only things I find that kill me when T1 players run solo are perplexity engies, Condi P/D Thieves/perplexity and Dhummfire Terromancers (Note either on a meditation guardian, or S/S LB Warrior because I don’t like cheesy hammer fotm build)
The only T1 Server I will admit have some skilled players are Blackgate. Many fun duels with them, especially from [Riot]. compared to the other T1 servers they have more skilled players from my experience.

Torch is useless in PvE, nothing to complain about. It can do nothing that can´t be do better while losing less dps.
To say Torch is a nice dps weapon…u should do a little bit math about DPS and your class.
True enough torch 5 is a damage loss in PVE and mobs but in WvW roaming and such. It’s a great weapon. Torch 4 for the nuke, and torch 5 functions as a mid range damage skill, useful for people trying to get away from you but are still at a distance, and the thieves pistol 5 ability.
Then can u tell me how to play Torch good?
Play it in a DPS build, put on some zerker gear. Torch 4 can crit very well(I talk in WvW/PvP sense)
Leave my Torch alone. If anything it needs to remove conditions on yourself every 2 second on torch 5. Besides that it works exceptionally well.
I know that many people want to duel others in their PvE getups, and I’m fine with that, but I do think it should be limited to designated areas.

If it really was available to anyone at any time in open world, it should cost money. I’m already getting spammed with all sorts of requests from group dances to food fights to belching contests to costume brawl. All. The. Time.
That’s okay but what’s goingto happen if you just restrict it to those areas with a arena is the home cities basically will become flooded like Lion’s Arch. I’d rather not have that. Also I don’t think anyone is going to harass you for duels specifically or spam you with anything unless you provoke them by talking crap. That’s the only way i see anyone getting spammed with anything.
No to duels in the open world. But, I understand you can duel in the new area in WvW by the jumping puzzle. Go for it!
That’s restricted to fighting other people on other servers, and not fight anyone you know. Spvp blows chunks for duels as well because of all the stat restrictions and limited rune choices(Not including the boring old maps). I’m up for open world dueling because NO ONE USES open world for anything(aside from RP spots), so all the scenery is generally wasted unless you’re doing a World Competition, or Guild missions. I think it be a great tool to help practice for fights in WvW, and to test builds with your friends. People afraid of open world dueling are blowing it out of proportion on what they think is going to happen. Why is dueling bad for open world? I mean look at the farming trains….is that really much better?

Saying that no-one uses the openworld apart from your examples is ludicrous and the fact that the word “afraid” once again rears it’s head makes me really angry.This game was designed around co-operation.
Deal with itIf you want to duel in your PvE gear and practice with your friends- there is no reason why you cannot do so in an arena made for the purpose.
I find it extremely interesting that all the “duelers” are so against having a designated area in the open-world/cities to do so.

The word afraid is due to the fact it’s just saying nononono we don’t want open world dueling because X will be spammed with duel invitations ,or are generally afraid of being called out, as some other players would view it. I’m not against it specific area dueling in places like the Bane(Black Citadel) and such, but there needs to be a place more accessible so the home cities don’t feel like Lion’s Arch. Another thing too is I think it would of been cool to make duel videos in the open world, to show more of the neat spots and all. Also correct, duelers are normally roamers, who take supply camps, and engage in 1v1 fights, or generally gank other roamers.
No to duels in the open world. But, I understand you can duel in the new area in WvW by the jumping puzzle. Go for it!
That’s restricted to fighting other people on other servers, and not fight anyone you know. Spvp blows chunks for duels as well because of all the stat restrictions and limited rune choices(Not including the boring old maps). I’m up for open world dueling because NO ONE USES open world for anything(aside from RP spots), so all the scenery is generally wasted unless you’re doing a World Competition, or Guild missions. I think it be a great tool to help practice for fights in WvW, and to test builds with your friends. People afraid of open world dueling are blowing it out of proportion on what they think is going to happen. Why is dueling bad for open world? I mean look at the farming trains….is that really much better?
From the looks of off-hand axe it’s not really for damage but more so adrenaline gain for Eviscerates or other burst skills. Though I’d love to see reflection on it to give it sort of a niche against ranged classes like engineers and rangers.
A 1v1 fight between 2 guardians should never end. If one dies, he/she is a bad guardian. And no, a bunker guardian shouldn’t be killed by a DPS guardian. Maybe OP should find a different class to fight against and post this thread to his/her current match-up thread instead.
A DPS guardian can indeed win against bunker specced guardians with relative ease. If they’re specced healway it’s just a tad more difficult to get them down. It’s just a little more time consuming is all.
A bunker guardian shouldn’t even die to a thief, why would it die to a DPS guardian? I never played other classes other than guardians, but isn’t thief a better DPS class? With how easy it is for a guardian to mitigate direct damage, I don’t see it happening honestly. I find DPS guardian sacrifices too much tankiness if they really want to deal a lot of damage.
I can easily see a guardian that sacrifices everything for DPS dies to a guardian that prioritizes tanking first, then DPS.
Every Guardian I’ve ran into that bunkers I made mince meat out of. Though the fact is i don’t go the cookie cutter 10/30/30/0/0 build for DPS. I’m around 10/0/30/25/5 with traveler runes. I run GS + S/T. I’ve gotten around to playing other classes and I sure as hell know a lot about my class, i should with 4.5k hours of game time on them(Not that’s anything to be proud of, it’s more shameful really.) The reason why thieves have difficulty killing guards is because they’re entirely burst. Thieves major spike damage comes from backstab, and depending on your health Heartseeker. After that burst they need to either back off and regain initiative, or go into stealth. Aegis is also a setup stopper for thieves hence why it’s hard for thieves to take down good guardians.
The only guardian I’ve had some slight difficulty killing was one with staff and GS, but all he did was run in circles and dodge roll heal, and every so often try to hit me with Whirling wrath. I’ve willingly let myself get hit by one and it doesn’t really do anything to me, nothing i can’t heal up with Smite Condition or any other of the healing capabilities. Guardians may not have better spikes than thieves, but Guardians definitely have better sustained damage than them. All while not requiring them to go back into stealth.
I can beat thieves easily, i can beat many types of mesmers solo, engineers, and even Warriors(The only one I couldn’t really beat down was Rendolphe from [Riot] with the absurd tankiness and damage.) Though with Warrior if it’s condition damage it’s 50/50 depending on the start up of the fight.

honestly I think warriors shouldnt be condition based..
conditions are boring and I would like to see its getting nerfed for a small part, but a buff on power stats for sword atleast.Warriors run weapons for raw/crit damage, it just doesn’t make sense to hit like a kitten but bleed you to dead.. its not a warrior style :-P
I still like sword and longbow because they are hybrid weapons, but its getting the wrong way to its conditions.. make it more power based.
Personally it still is a hybrid weapon it only feels more like a condi weapon is because of it’s bleed application. If you go dual sword it’s more specifically for condition builds because you have torment and bleed on counter attack). Full condi stacking is boring true but hybrid builds are just much more fun. Also Warriors have many styles not just one specific one
If you compare to other condi builds however most of them are ranged (Engi, necro, Thief, mesmer) Warrior is the only class who’s a melee based condition inflicter.

I run a similar build on my S/S + LB Warrior though i dab more in the support sustain role(Healing shouts) rocking Apot and Celestial trinkets. If you want to dab more damage in the build you can go with Battle sigil in both sets, or you can roll with Energy if you feel you want to survive more.
Running a zerker guard and taking camps is actually a lot better then running something more survivable. Then again I run Zerker meditation guard with 10/0/30/25/5. There are a few ways to get this done. Either you go and pull a scout and a guard without aggroing the supervisor(camp only gets the swords on it if aggro him.) from there you kill those two quickly, then move on to the rest of the camp, this way you take significantly less damage. The other way is find a spot that LoS them and make them clump up, and rain down AoE DPS, and make sure to kill the Scouts asap. It takes less then 20-30 sec realistically.
Edit: I also forgot to add that I have no guards buff like Vit stalking rank trait, or the power stacking rank trait.

Guardian is probably the last class I’d choose to 1v1 someone on.
That is true if you play Guardian like everyone else, which is bunker support. If you play DPS/ Agressive playstyle you can win.

Honestly if you’re running the exact build Chris uses it’s best to just use that variation of Healway in zergs and small group play. What you need to beat most classes pressure/decent damage if you’re solo roaming. I changed my build for roaming and small group play, though keeping the Healway build variant. I had to ditch Absolute Resolution if i wanted to apply pressure on people(also known as moving those points in virtues elsewhere.)I stick with soldier runes so shouts cure 2 Condis(I’m pigeonholed here because on demand condi removal is good, and I don’t like purging flames since it has a cast time)
With thieves I got around into making one and playing Spvp with it for a bit. Guardians are easy targets for theives when they play bunker and have no real damage or pressure to keep the Thieves in check, and if they spec into 30 Shadow Arts, they’ll just outlast you, because you don’t have enough damage to make them panic but they sure as hell have the damage to kill you, and the mobility to get out of sticky situations. If you fight a warrior with healing signet+ Adrenal health it’s going to be a very long fight unless you’re a mesmer, or engie even is full berskers it takes a while to kill a warrior. What I find what generally will help kill a warrior is if you take a f1 burst and make them have 0 Adrenaline. You’ll have a window since they lost a portion of their healing by doing so, but that’s a short window. it also helps to have things linger on them like Binding Blade and/or Burn/burn on block. It helps. Though there isn’t much you can do other than that.
PoV is bad by itself now because it doesn’t have any meaningful condi cleanse. It’s only worth taking if you go with Soldier runes. As far as damage goes I’ve experimented with a different variation of healway going 0/25/10/30/5. Loosing Absolute resolution definitely feels like a big loss as well as retal up time, but at the same time I get a bunch of damage modifiers and better crit chance. I run soldier runes to atm triple shouts still until i find something that feels more fitting.
Can we please make guardian blind stack? All conditions dished out are stacked. Since we are probably the only class that deal the most blinds and our “live saver” at times. I rather deal 1-10 second of blind compared to 10 seconds of “first attack will miss”
No because that would be ridiculous. Thieves would never be hit, and it makes it 10x harder for melee to hit anything.
I don’t see any issues with that, perma stealth vs short blind. 10 seconds is probably too long, but if they are talking about immobilize stack. That’s already OP as it is with 5 stacks. Reducing stacks doesn’t fix anything, 3 stacks is 3 seconds which is still plenty of time for a spike. So don’t see the issue of blinding for 3-5 seconds since half our skills are already on long CD.
Perma stealth is being done with on the 10th, and D/P thieves would have a field day by blind tanking everyone, with pistol 5. The blinds are fine just the way you are. Before you could just take off blind by striking air. Now you actually have to connect to do away with the blind. It’s also very rewarding when you use it at the right times. Immoblize spam is pretty meh, doesn’t worry me to much only in group settings when you’re being chased down is when it gets annoying.

Virtues only need a little tweak, base CD reductions, 15-20 sec on courage and resolve, Resolve passive base needs to be doubled to the base of 168 HPS. If i wanted this i’d lightly tap the healing power scaling just in case it’s a tad bit overboard, and it’s balanced out.. Though that’s all virtues really need, VoJ is fine, VoR just needs a passive buff, and a minor CD decrease, and courage needs a slight CD decrease(VoC is fine because it’s rewarding if you time it on a big attack, the passive is only to passively mitagate damage, the active though is timing/skill based.) .
So basically they are just going to slowly strip away all our defenses till this is the worst class in the game. I am not really sure how one is supposed to mele with such low health or regen like we have withou dodging. GJ Anet
Try playing a thief. No aegis, no reflects, no stability (ds doesn’t count), only a few ways to get vigor and they are all being nerfed.
When you look at a guardian vs. a thief, of the two I’d expect the thief to be able to maintain near perma vigor. Dodging is literally all they have. I’d say vigorous precision needs a rework to slightly tone it down.
Aegis is 1 block on a 30-90 sec cd, Reflection is only on Wall of Reflection, the rest are bubbles that absorb projectiles. In all sense Vigior is essential to survival. Thieves have cripples, shadowsteps and stealth, which are also survival tools, so add on to all the dodge spamming such as endurance recovery per dodge, they can really spam the living hell out of it.. Guaridans have bad mobility, and lack of soft CC to stick to others, low health pool and melee based. It’s also our only trait/ skill that gives us vigor as well aside form “Save Yourselves!” The way we have to build too is we have to sacrifice either being tanky to be able to actually kill someone, or sacrifice DPS just to survive longers against other classes.
@ haviz After Decemeber 10th it won’t since they’re giving ele love, and promoting build diversity.

After some thought today and reading the name of the trait, I thought the way they might rework this trait is making it refill endurance every time you crit and setting a ICD of 1 sec. How would that sound? This is just a thought if they really do intend to nerf/rework our trait.
