This is absolutely the best MM build you can get.
Despite the minions having several problems, this build works fine in dungeons, you won’t do the same dps as other top professions or condition builds, but it’s still useful, you will be tanky enough to ress your teammates and keep aggro from mobs.
For grinding or doing general PVE or Wvw get Spectral Walk (or Signet of Locust for traveling long distances) instead of Signet of Undeath.
Regarding the Traits: if you need more Condition removal you can get Spiteful Removal in Spite; if you don’t like Death Nova, then get Staff Mastery; if you don’t like Ritual of Life, go for Bloodthirst or Mark of Evasion.
About the gear, i suggest to go Power/Toughness/Precision with Fighter’s Rune, so you’ll get the best Dps possible, while still having a good survivability.
Check Superior Sigil of Fire for your Staff if you want some nice Aoe (requiring Precision gear).
Have fun!
Death Nova still doesn’t apply to Flesh Wurm when using Necrotic Traversal (note that works correctly with Bone Minions or Blood Fiend)

I’m serious, change the name of the elite or change the 3d model’s mesh…
The class is well done? Ok. right…
1v1 encounters with noobs doesn’t mean the class works.
If experienced players say it is inferior to other classes a reason must be there.
I “liked” the Necromancer too when i did 80, but when i started analizing it more deeper I ended that enthusiasm. It’s a matter of time and experience.

Once I suffered 40k damages in 5 seconds with Spectral Armor up, nothing strange here, don’t try to show the problem in the Thief section or you’ll be eaten alive… pirhanas, not ppl they are..
Just consider that if you don’t have 2k toughness you’ll be getting from 5 to10k crits in a row.. and whatever it won’t stop him from dealing you a lot of burst damage..
The reality is that Thief is OP and Necro isn’t; the reality is that whatever you have to adapt the system.
Some Base hints are having more than 1000 toughness every time in Pvp, trying to kite him with snares, slow, chills, immobilize effects (staff will be helpful) and know when to absorb the burst with Death Shroud (consider that engaging a thief without full Death Shroud it’s often an hard game).
Usually when a thief opens on you with Steal and Fear, try to go into Death Shroud and fear him away, or send him the fear with Plague Signet.
Usually when he Shadow Refuge try bombing the area with your Marks (depending on the situation it would be better if you keep mark 4 and 5 for the later fight) and Life Transfer..
After that there is the counter strategy for every possible build in the metagame.. and a lot of painful experience.
Try looking for some Pvp guide, usually there is explained the strategy in better details.

No, the sound must be disturbing, but this lacks of taste; the animations, since GW1, are so bad…
It’s always nice to notice how much dedication has been put into making the Necro…
(edited by Luke.4562)
Yeah, instead i’d like to know the name of the Necromancer’s Concept Artist..
Smart 3D modeling, good textures and maps can’t hide a so much bad design.
(edited by Luke.4562)
…or Plucked Turkey?
“Summon Plucked Turkey” seems more appropriate to our elite..
Let’s say it. ANET 3D modelers are awesome, but design for weapons and gears sucks.. doesn’t fit a mmorpg at all.
There is no epicness … it’s the apotheosis of soberness.
Maybe it’s a way to contain the quantity of poligons and keeping an overall good detail..
(edited by Luke.4562)
You really can’t get it..
1) you don’t have utilities to help your team
2) you sacrifice 1 slot wich must be used for Signet of Undeath to get a useless pet which gives you +20 toughness and some little quantity of health each attak, when Blood Fiend and Flesh Golem are more reliable.
3) You waste a Trait to get Transfusion which will help ya once every 30-40 seconds and doesnt even scale well with healing power.
4) You keep grabbing this useless Minion master trait when the only benefit is the cooldown on Bone Minions for more Dps which you don’t even use. It doesn’t reduce the cooldown of the minion’s ability, it reduces the cooldown to resummon the pet when it’s on cooldown.
@The Demonic Spirit: Khalifahaze was talking about Healnofear..
Btw the Traits Minion Master, Transfusion and Shadow Fiend are thrashes.
To heal your pets you just need Mark of Blood, nothing else.
If we want to be precise, daggers aren’t worth in Pve, Axe would be better by the moment the Vulnerability stacks would emprove the dps of you, your pets and your team.
+1 sometimes doesn’t want to dodgeroll even at full endurance (not a problem of my mouse or lag)
Another Bug: Deadly Strength doesn’t increase Power from the Thoughness gained from Dark Armor..

Here’s whats new:
Guild Wars 2 hasn’t still been released for Necromancers.
You can call it Scrapomancer or Brokenmancer, that suits better.
+1 brickforlife, that’s exactament what i mean.
Some ppl seems blind or they just have religious faith in the minion functionality, while the system doesn’t really work.
They get carried in pvp or smash some noob’s face and think their build works… wtf..
Wow no problems, indeed….
A pity that after the Golem charges it loses dps and eventually stops it; Shadow Fiend is the most useless pet ever (both pvp than pve), and anyway it’s better having Sigil of Undeath instead that bringing a pet in every utility slot (obvious other slots are Bone Fiend and Bone Minions); Signet of Locust… in pve… no sorry, even in pvp sucks so much it isn’t worth keeping it on the bar.
No weapon switch.. how do you maximize dps on single target by the moment staff doesnt do a decent single target damage?
Dolyak runes on a dps caster, you lose a lot of dps again; Sigil of fire without Critical Chance is pretty useless.
I’m not sure if youre trolling or you are serious, by the moment the build you show us it’s obstructive for the performance of your Pve Team.
Good Luck!

I like Necros, but this class in GW2 isn’t a Necro.
GW2 hasn’t still been released for Necromancer Fans, we are actually beta testers playing witch scraps of a broken class.
Yeah indeed, what about situations in which the Golem stands and watch you die? Or worst, it stucks into an invisible terrain obstacle and doesn’t hit the target.. or even he can miss the target by the moment it doesn’t follow correctly it..
Yeah indeed an Elite works as a powerful tide changer, yeah, but what if it has high chances to not working properly?
In pvp matters the sure way to do something.
Totally agree with Ceraphyn. +1
@Nay of the Ether: we have the most complete and precise Bug Report on this Forum, that is free Work not retribuited, a really big utility that Anet isn’t considering at all.
The brainstorm has been done multiple times (free Work that Anet should have done before the launch or during the Beta) and all the things they told us were “emproving movement speed on Signet of the Locust”, “carry on till 14 december for big updates”, “carry on here, carry on there”, no sign of Developers on the Necro Forum.
This is an Awesome game, but for Necro Fans it’s not the right moment to play, Guild Wars 2 hasn’t been released for us, we are still waiting for the release date.

Best Necromancer Build?
Considering Pet’s AI is broken and MM isn’t that good on Tpvp, yet brings some flaw to it.
The fact you’re bringing no stun breaker in Pvp means a lot more (I can’t really see Shadow Fiend).
By the moment your pets are squishy, you’ll need the trait Flesh of the Master, or else, whoever smart player gonna spam Aoes to destroy them.
Transfusion is just terrible.
In Pvp the healing from Blood Fiend is slow (it’s still dazable, counterable, and the pet without FotM is easy to take out.) and isn’t even comparable to Consume Conditions, you still have no condition removal over the Staff 4.
Atm you have no utilities for your team over the Staff, which can be incorporated better in whaveter other build.
I really hope they gonna change some traits to make Minion master builds available and competitive in pvp (which actually isn’t). Good Luck with it!
(edited by Luke.4562)
Thanks for the effort Anet, but Necros didn’t need movement speed.
I’m just laughin since i started reading the necro “buffs”..
“Reanimator: Decreased the degeneration rate of Jagged Horrors.”
Why giving precedence to this useless fix? I’d like they spent more effort for something more useful.. On which bases do they decide what’s better fixing or not? If something is useless like this Trait, don’t even waste time trying to balance it… Why caring about the most useless Jagged Horror’s Survivability? Why? It deals ridicle damage, it has no utility in combination with other traits (want 20 more toughness for 10 seconds? Want a free portable Death*Coff*Useless Nova? Maybe it would work like Mesmer’s Phantasms to create more confusion between the opponet targets…)
I just can say Spiteful Removal it’s decent now…
But what about Staff’s emprovements? Underwater the necro was yet strong, why empowering the water weapons when we have still big problems on the dry land?
Meh..
I still can’t understand why there are people putting so much EFFORT in gathering Necro’s Bug and still getting no consideration by ANet.
april is still months away!
HE WON

Dumb on purpose? I’d like to see a zombie with some minutes of life which isn’t attaking a living being, preferring staying and looking his master dying. >.<
Responses are: 1) it’s not a DUMB zombie; 2) it’s not a zombie.
Again a Warrior’s game. I’d like to know why there are only mmorpg in which Warriors are the best of the best of the best in every role, environment, setup, ambience, … whatever, they are the most “cared” class.
This bug happend almost 15 times last 2 -3 hours, i can’t end a single pvp game, if i die, i’m done for.
Just 2 “competitive” builds in pvp, tons of useless or bugged (or even useless if working correctly) trash traits.
Maybe 3 – 4 competitive or at least useful PVE builds.
Disappointing.uh, thats pretty much where everyone is at. most profs have only one or two viable competitive builds.
Add the fact those 2 have roles that are filled better by other classes…

Ah, now I am the one under inquisition, nice.
The fact i didn’t wrote or quote something about you doesn’t mean I ignored you.
And I write it again: “I’m not dumb”, I can read informations from your posts, from my screenshots and understand them clearly.
If I wrote “Oneshotted” it was to make you understand the quickness of the fight; it lasted just few seconds, during which i was wasting my defensive cooldowns to avoid being killed, obviously.
Yeah I agree it’s hard to understand the situation, that’s why i’m here to ask Thieves’ opinion, next time ’m gonna check the Combat Log if possible or hope to have Fraps up.
I was running around in a “glass” cannon powerbuild, with around 900+ thoughness, full Divinity set, 22k-24k hps.
I’m not a newbye, as i wrote i met more skilled thieves and since now i hadn’t seen that kind of damage; even if i’m a glass cannon necro, i still can’t be bursted down that fast by most of the players i usually met (i wouldn’t be here asking if i knew those kinda damage were often to be found in pvp).
EDIT: More details about my build; as i wrote, i hadn’t Plague as Elite, iw as running with Flesh Golem; I haveSoul Reaping Traits that gives me Protection when falling under 50% Hps; i have Spectral Armor as utility and i brought no points into Death Magic (no additional Toughness).
(edited by Luke.4562)
Yeah, considering i had a Protection Buff (-33% incoming damage) after the DeathShroud makes more sense with it.
We were alone, far from the big fight, so i’d not consider the Warrior or Guardian situation.
By the way, i appreciate the positive feedback.
Just esplain the damage, i usally don’t get oneshotted by other classes, even warriors can’t shot me like that.
I was on tournament a while ago, when this happened to me.
I’d like to hear how these damages are possible.
- Fetid Consumption
- Does not work at all.
I’d like to correct the information about the issue i reported; it’s not that easy to test it and understand the entity of the problem.
I tried to test with ‘Bone Horrors’, ‘Jagged Horrors’, ‘Blood Fiend’, ‘Flesh Wurm’, ‘Blood is Power’ and ‘Corrosive poison Cloud’.
I’d like to specify it has some random bug, sometimes work, sometimes (often) not; i can say it because sometimes the condictions i self inflict ends prematurely (i have no other way around to dispel conditions).
I’m aware of the internal cooldown, but often pets won’t draw the condition istantly when it is applied.
I observed that the “drawing” action (when it happens) doesn’t transfer the condition on the pet, it seems just to be dispelled (another detail that make things harder to be understood).
———
I’d like to specify that Death Nova doesn’t proc on Blood Fiend’s ‘Taste of death’ and Flesh Wurm’s ‘Necrotic Traversal’.
(edited by Luke.4562)
Fetid Consumption is totally bugged, doesn’t work for conditions inflicted by opponents and those self-inflicted too.
