I have no idea why people use nagas or other mouses with so many buttons in gw2. There are 5 weapon skills 1 healing 3 utilities, and 2 more (f1 and elite).
So you can reach weapon skills easily with your left hand while still using wasd. So you need 5 more buttons – I have bound my qercv for that, even if my mouse has additional 4 buttons I use only keyboard.
The only profession that in my opinion should/can use binds on a mouse is an elementalist since you have to reach F1-F4 while still combining 1-5, that is not really comfortable to do.
So to get back on topic, in my opinion – don’t buy expensive “pro” player mouses since they are only good because the marketing says so, a simple mouse is good enough for gw2 combat.
What will be, but I do not hope for is: lag in pvp because of another crappy pve event, loading bug back.
What probably wont be implemented, but I would hope/think that it should: FIX (not nerf, not buff, just fix) the hundred bugs for necromancer and other classes, that have 100+ of them.
To be completely unrealistic and just from pure fantasy: an addition of something else to pvp (either duels, or new modes, or something).
I hope they remover cloaking or 50% of thief dps or 30% of thief’s speed.
You don’t play a lot of tpvp, now do you…
I look at tournaments like team fights – other build necromancers can help a lot from their utilities, remove conditions, aoe blinds, change conditions into buffs, etc. Even if it is a 1×1 situation, a minion master necromancer is not a tank, nor he is a burster, so even if you can kill someone 1×1 (it is possible with almost any build of any charachter) it will not be fast, so he might call for backup, or if he is a tank, he will just stand there.
I rarely duel people, besides I probably couldn’t keep myself from creating a mesmer, moaing you from stealth and watch all your mm dissapear : )
Don’t use minion master build in tpvp – you harm your team more than you help them…
Bad AI, all utility slots are taken, if enemies attack you from a different hight minions are useless, since you cannot summon them directly on them, like mesmers do, why choose something as bad as mm?
Well this topic will probably be moved to necromancer sub forum, since its there where you usually discuss builds. Also signet of spite – why?
I already watched it few days ago, but since talking is not equal of doing it does not really mean anything. One phrase that stuck into my head was when Sharp said that pve is as important as pvp – it was an insane statement, the games aim was to become an esport, they should ignore pve, just leave the content as it is and focus purely on luring as much people as possible to pvp for player base to increase, but from many things I have noticed pve > pvp. For example, what did pvpers get in last big update?
Well changes in professions are for both pve and pvp so does not really count, so we got 1 map and loading bug back. To compare with pve – they got a new map (that island of crabs), new dungeon: fractals that has inside 6, maybe 9 different maps + a lot of tiers. Lets go further and ask: what did pvp players had new from bwe after going live? After a month or so we got paid tournaments, that should have been available since the beginning, 2 maps: capricon and temple. Other then that were either for both pvp and pve (class fix/nerfs or buffs), or only for pve: new maps, new dungeons, new modes to play.
The argument is that devs are taking careful steps into balancing pvp. In my opinion pvp balance in this game is not that bad (especially I do not agree with qqs about thieves or wars and burst classes), it is that pvp is barely there – 3 maps, 1 mode, that makes only few builds available or even one build for some classes. Will the rating system fix this – no it will not, it may even become a problem of finding teams to fight with in free tournaments, not only in paid, thus prolonging the queue and loosing even more people. What they need to focus on is making pvp available for more people – the base mechanics are there: system with dodges, blocks, no healers works very well, but where you can use it is other story: only 8×8 or 5×5 zergs , or 5×5 tournaments. There is no flavor in pvp, my suggestion to stop loosing, and maybe increase the amount of people pvping would be implementing more modes, for fewer people (1×1 2×2 3×3), making more modes available, not only conquest, and still keep the 5×5 conquest as the main thing.
Jesus kittening christ 1vs1 is not a priority it will come it everything else is done. What will 1vs1 do for Guild Wars 2 as an eSport, seriously.
What does any crappy pve focused update, (heloween, shores and now some kind of christmas) has to do with esport? Nothing at all. It seems that pvp is not a priority at all for the development of a game – they barely started fixing bugs in trait lines. What will 1×1 do to gw2 as an esport? Well it sure as hell will not harm it in any way, just will add something to do while you wait for horribly long time in paid tpvp que, and may draw more people to enter the mists atleast.
Well first of all – its admirable that you have found time to do this statistical research. But I see this more of a “Correlation is not causation” kind of thing – your statistics show only one variable: the amount of thieves ingame you have encountered and everything else is an interpretation without any data to back it up. So if class is popular, it does not mean it is unbalanced in comparison to other classes, it may mean that it is just easier to start playing it and it is not the same.
Secondly “Its the classes at the bottom that thieves tear up the most in spvp. Thieves are the reason people have stopped playing them.” this is just false – I am playing a necromancer and a thief and killing a necromancer with a backstabber thief is extreamly difficult: well of darkness, death shroud, plague form, spectral armor, etc. Also an engineer with his multiple knockbacks and immobilises is also a very difficult enemy to fight. The easiest class to kill with a backstab thief is actually another backstab thief since he is also a pure glass cannon, just get an opener and he is dead.
Thirdly – you should have tested not spvp, but tpvp, then the numbers would have been a lot different.
You can do monthly achievement in about an hour – it is not difficult at all, and in my opinion too easy.
Also about being a “point collector” – these pvp achievement are obtained by being a pvp player, its not as easy as farming mobs or running around a map chopping trees like you do for pve. Pve achievements in my opinion are only a matter of time, pvp monthly is more of a matter of skill.
1. kitten (rhymes with duck) gear grinding to get an advantage in pvp
2. Everything else, like more modes or getting experience in spvp was already suggested many times.
Yes it is still here – I even got it few times in spvp, not only tournaments…
Ok, first of all about the wow comparison "…Wow have some bad class balances yes but to say it’s worse than balance here is just beyond crazy to me. " No – wow was a lot more unbalanced in comparison to gw2. About the pvp – on TBC I could 1shotmacro any mage with my rogue, on WOTLK release they created a class that was extreamly unbalanced – DK has multiple snares, condition dmg, multiple immunity to magic, strong heals, high % chance to parry incoming attacks, minion that hits more then any of full demonology speced warlocks, etc. Also healers were almost an immortal class that you could only kill if you play a charachter with multiple CCs or you have an ability to drain mana, and even then it would take you ages to kill. For example at 2×2 arenas my friend was 1×1 against a resto druid with 30k hp. To kill him he did 2.8 million dmg, since finally healer oomed. Wow pvp only feels balanced because healers exist as a buffer.
Ontopic:
First of all, do not use such statements as “…every player that has left has stated they hated the class balance” or "…no one playing pvp? That all of the focus is on PVE because people are using the cash shop for pve items. " Because simply they are not true – people still are playing pvp, you can get a free tournament in a minute or two and there are full spvp servers. Did you do some kind of questioner which has statistically showed that 100% of people that left is because they think that class balance is very bad? If no, that statement is false. And even if you did this statistical analysis on your free time you need to take into account that there is a large amount of people that like to take the easy way – instead of learning how to counter a profession, it is easier to go to forums and beg for nerfs. If that does not work it is easier to search the mistakes in others than it is in yourself, so you can say “The classes are extreamly unbalanced – a thief can kill me in 5 hits, and I cannot do the same to him, thus he is OP and I am UP. Devs did not nerf thief, so now I am angry and going to leave pvp for ever”. In my opinion it is actually the lack of content that drove some people away from pvp, not the OP classes, that if you actually play a little longer, can be countered as everything else.
Also about the lack of people and the way to get them back – you are thinking the other way around: PvE has a lot of content (more maps, more dungeons, more updates as I stated in topic where I compared pvp vs pve) and is easier then pvp so more people tend to play it = more people buy keys and crap like that for real money on trade post. So developers put more effort in pve, so people will keep playing and the money keeps rolling. So adding an ability to pay for something in pvp will draw more devs attention. Sounds logical… But your suggestion to add a way to pay for something in pvp will not increase the player base in any way and still pvp<pve. So the only way to get a win/win situation is for gw2 developers to take the first step, and start creating more content for pvp (modes, maps, etc.): this will lure more players from pve to pvp, then, and only then they can start trying to get some money back of the investment that they have made.
That is how I see it – more content for pvp is a Gw2 investment. So as any other investment, you have to spend money now, to potently get more money in the future – not the other way around.
(edited by Lukin.4061)
You do not have to have on class for all – simply level up a thief, to go for wvw, since his cluster bombs and poison aoe does a decent dmg. You can use a mesmer for tpvp, and both of these classes in spvp.
Also if you like competative pvp, trust me – wvw will get boring VERY fast, there is nothing do to, just run around in big groups, autoatack the door for 5-10 minutes, capture some fort, then run some more and repeat untill you meet an even bigger enemy zerg then you either die or run away to nearest fort.
(edited by Lukin.4061)
Only backstab thieves were nerfed during the last patch – one ability lost 33% of dmg in pvp and second one that you do not really use (throwing dagger) got 50% dmg reduction. Backstab thief is a build used mostly to kill nabs in spvp, not the most useful build at tpvp – you have no toughness or vitality, go only pure dps and burst is on a 45 sec cooldown. Some stronger builds were not nerfed, like a bleeder thief or a dazer.
Actually mesmer is probably one of the most useful classes in tournaments, since they can create portals for team, so you can get a lot of people to the other side of the map in seconds.
More boxes that need a key = more items to delete for me after every reward, since pvp rewards are soulbound and cannot be sold, and that place is already taken by arcane powder…
Some of your suggested potions, like 3 second ice block, would create and even more survivable bunkers – 3 s might not look that much, but that is a time when the cds are ticking away and allies are running towards your point. There is a reason why you can only 1 of these kind of rune effects ingame.
So overall I do not like your idea, because at best it is useless for me and at worst it may be an addition to balance issues.
P.S. Don’t use wow as an example – it has a bad pvp, because of huge imbalance, healers, gear impact, etc.
All classes are viable for tourneys, I would suggest creating few classes that you think are interesting, go to the mists, test few builds see what you like and play that class. In tpvp I only use a necromancer, for spvp fraging: necromancer, thief, warrior.
Most of the classes are good in spvp – but since you are planing to play wvw, that is not really a pvp, but more like zerg vs zerg, or zerg vs doors I would suggest taking a class that has strong range attacks (aoe would be better), so an engineer, elementalist, ranger, warrior maybe, did not play much wvw because it is the least skillful “pvp” in this game.
I dislike moba type games because of the combat system – you give few hits, go back hide behind the mobs, give few hits again if enemy rushes towards you, then he retreats: repeat 90% of the match until the interesting part in bases start…
Also it will not work here because every character is leveled to the max while entering the mists and have gear equality – that is also a thing missing in moba. Why do people always put dota or lol in this forum as a pinnacle of succession that everyone (even from different genres of games) should follow by copying that style? I like playing quake and counter-strike, and they are very popular, but that does not mean I would like playing a rocket jumping necromancer or bomb defusing engineer.
mesmer’s clones.
no one knows which one is real. and the mesmer runs away perfectly.
if you played spvp until 15 rank, you know what i mean.
everyone in my tourney party said it is too hard to kill mesmers.
it should be revealed after 5 seconds or be blinked every 5 second or become different color and back to normal every 5 second.
and many clones are too annoying. it is impossible to kill mesmer.
i can’t even attack mesmer if he keeps spawning clones!!!!
That is probably the most moronic topic I have read today – and that is saying something when topics like “People do not go to pvp, because the background music there is ugly” pop up.
1. If you don’t know which is real, do not talk about everyone – actually most people DO recognize real mesmer.
2. First of all rank means nothing, but even if it did rank 15 is laughably low, when now there are people at least 40-50+.
3. It is not hard to kill a mesmer, even in bunker build he is outperformed by other classes (elementalist or guardian for example), so your “tourney party” opinion is just wrong.
4. No – mesmer clones should not be blinking in different color, because then they would be even less useful than in current state.
5. Almost every class ingame has an some aoe attacks – use them and it will reveal the real mesmer : O
6. "…it is impossible to kill mesmer. " Well if there was an immortal class ingame, I think someone besides you would have noticed.
So to conclude: your topic is bad and you should feel bad – purely l2p issue, but from some gamers (especially the vocal ones in the forum) it is easier to complain instead of actually getting better…
(edited by Lukin.4061)
Just tried to 4v1 a thief on a cap point. He kept doing massive damage go invisible, come out of invisibility do more damage and stop us from capping, go invisible again/ He downed 2 of us before we killed him and delayed us from capping the point until his team mates got there. How is this fair? When he was spinning in the air no one could hit him.
Things like that make me understand what kind of people come to qq about thieves in the forum. Did you try rooting him in any way? Or did you just stand in the caltrop aoe and stack bleeds on yourself?
And now a short story on this topic “qq about thieves”:
Today I have logged on my thief to go for spvp, went to server 3×3 and one guardian kept talking how thieves are OP, because they can kill him in 2 skills. So I have tried to explain to him that its not 2 skills, it is actually basilisk venom+steal+cloak and dagger+going behind him+backstab+heartseeker to finish him. Then he complained to me that he cannot see a thief incoming because he steals in stealth – I have explained that if he uses steal in stealth he cannot backstab instantly since you get an immunity to stealth, so no stealth = no backstab. Then he said that backstab dmg is too big it should be maximum 4k.
After that argument of thieves being OP coz they do EXTREAM dmg I got flanked by the same guardian and killed from his whirling attack (8k dmg) hammer stun and 1 or 2 simple attacks. So now I was curious why he thinks that having a teleport+multiple blocks+a summoned stun hammer+blindness+root and hitting 8k dmg by 1 skill on a target is OK, but when a thief does the same amount of dmg without these mentioned skills it is OP. His answer was that it was my fault since I have a build purely for burst and not for survival. He was right – I was pure class cannon without any kind of dmg reduction. So in his mind (and many others as I have read): each class should be able to burst thief in few hits while having more survivability, but a thief with less defenses should not be able to do that…
I hope ANet will not listen to this constant crying and not just blatantly nerf thief to the ground,

Every class can be countered - backstabbing thief is no exception, people just are too lazy or too pathetic to learn something new. Why does no one complain about BS thiefs in tPvP (paid or even free)? Because they are almost useless there, since everyone keeps an eye on enemy movement and covers each other + there are no crappy built professions there - everyone uses some kind of stunbreaker, blindness/retal/block/etc. So most thieves in tpvp are bleeders, and they can be countered with immobilize for example. And no I do not play a thief in tpvp, my main is necro, but I had a thief created to learn weaknesses.
From most of your posts I can make a conclusion that you have no idea how thief works = you have not tried playing it yourselves. With things like thieves "having perma stealth" and just "spam heartseeker for an easy down" I encourage you to try this - try playing like that, just go and press 2 at targets with 100% hp, it will be eye opening for you.
European time zone = GMT +1 or +2 ?
I am always surprised when these kind of threads pop up. If you do not like the main pvp mechanic of choosing 3 utility skills+elite and healing, and that most of your other skills depend on the weapons chosen then I have some good news for you: there IS such a game that works as you want it is called Guild Wars – you can always go and play it. Gw2 announced these mechanics before they have released a game, you could have read it easily.
On the other hand they do need different pvp modes, but as some posts note, they are planning on implementing these features later.
Thieves need a big nerf bat to hit their damage. Tpvp is ridiculous, 90% of the games you play against at least 2 thieve premade teams!! I would like to get some statistics on how much the thieves are represented in terms of percentages in tpvp I feel around 25% for just this one class (I wonder why). Only people defending the crazy thief burst are those who are thieves (for a reason). When one class has burst and stealth that is a lethal combo.
I play necro tank with siphon wells, 2.2k toughness with healing power good enough to heal 10k within a few seconds and I play well, can tank 2-3 people for a good amount of time. Comes one thieve and necro dead no challenge. I am not exaggerating, one thieve, I am no noob I am proficient in many mmos (before people start shouting about my post), but you can clearly see when something is imbalanced, bursting up to 15k in 2-4 seconds from stealth is not fair, outshines all the other classes. You dont see people complain about any other class this much but thieve.I agree that the class should be provided with more versatility, but the burst has to go, insane burst has to go. Heartseeker doing 7-8k damage, or backstab? at least warrior lethal shot can be dodged! Get really people, no matter how skillful you are no play can beat godmode in any game.
Well I am a necromancer too, but strangely do not have any problems with thieves while Tpvping. Either your build is total crap when fighting close range bursters (healing is not the way to go – the dmg must be avoided other ways) , or you are just not that good as you think you are. Necromancers are probably one of the easiest classes to win when fighting a BS thief. Death shroud/blinds/stunbreakers/ even 2/3 elites help you destroy a thief taking almost no dmg yourself.
Also I like the lie you said that 90% of premade teams have 2+ thieves – it made me lol. I have played 200+ tournaments, and only time I see more than 1 thief is when we are at the first map playing pure random teams. Most of the premade that I have encountered teams either have 1 thief or more commonly 0 and that 1 is not a BS, but a bleeder.
(edited by Lukin.4061)
Depends on how you play and where you play (paid tournaments with a team/free tournaments with randoms/spvp)?
All are quite good, maybe necro is the most buggiest at the moment.
When you think of a Necromancer what is the very first thing that comes to mind?
Diablo II necromancer – pale tall man with curses and control over death
Ontopic: stop fantasying about any changes to necromancer, they barely touched upon bugs, so no new features will be coming for months, even years…
(edited by Lukin.4061)
Are you playing a necromancer with reanimator trait? Because the minion can rally an enemy – happened to my twice on different ele same for you: enter mist form→mist form ends→ no longer in downed state.
You got to play 15 paid tournaments? : O When we try to get in its usually 30 minute wait for 1 team to join and after some time we leave the queue…
Dear Anet and Thief players,
i recetly joined Free tournament and encountered a thief in first game that completly ruined mine whole game experience. Why? Sorry but when someone can kill me with 3 hits that is not even bad thats is simply frustrating.Heres just one picture before i left spvp, think it explains all.
http://i.imgur.com/3034g.jpgI and all my friends dont play spvp just becouse this, i hope someday it will be fixed.
Honestly players
Why do these topics never end? No it is not that thieves are OP, it is you that runs a glass canon without any stunbreaks/blinds/blocks/etc. BS thief is almost never a problem in tpvp environment, since there is no use for them except for stealing a boss. Also this
WvW is as much a PvP as that costume brawl thing that happened during last months PvE update…
Easy to answer.
Anet dont focus on pvp
they have 2 !!!!!!!!!! people focus onpvp rest is pve
my copetitive team could not play the last 3 days because of the pve content – lagged too hard + loading screen bug+ all competitive players play for something . they want to show others how amazing they are… in gw2 you cant … Our competitive guild lost about 90% of our players…. true and sad story
I agree with you – there is NO focus on pvp currently in gw2. Do they really have 2 people only working on it? I would want to see the source of this information, since that would be just insane if true. Also lag was incredible during the event, people started phasing at tournaments, loading screen bug was as always in the worst possible time. Our guild has 500 members it was fairly balanced at the beginning between pve and pvp crowd, now there are 7 of us that go to the mists…
Ontopic: If i am not mistaken lol is free, thus more player base = more players that go to other levels of competition.
WvW = unbalanced gear-wise players without any real pvp skill running in zergs and banging doors. I rarely go there, but when I do it is horrifying how people control their profession there – killed lvl 80 necro best pve geared (that flaming gear that everyone keeps wearing) with my lvl 30 warrior, because he had his char build insanely poorly (utilities don’t match with weapons, weapons don’t match with each other).
More on topic about first movie: next time do not start the movie attacking an afk thief that only gets back during last hp – it sets a bad tone for entire thing. Other then that its ok – nothing really good, but still showing what a glass canon necro can burst out. And i agree with your opinion that every nab qqing about glass canon enemies, while not having any stunbreaks and other anti-burst things packed.
Hello everybody, I have to warn you this is going to be a long text, since there are many things I’d like to talk about, and probably have thought to do it for quite some time. Also a fair warning, English is probably my third language that I’ve learnt, so there might be some mistakes.
For you to better understand my viewpoint, I will introduce myself. I have been playing gw2 since the first beta event, it was my very anticipated game because of the pvp mechanics. I like the idea of gear equality, skill based pvp where you have to dodge/block/avoid incoming attacks and not depending on numbers (for example block 25% chance) and no healers to fix your mistakes for you. My previous games were L2 (till c5) and WoW (till wotlk) where my pure focus was on pvp, also for about 10 years I have played cs. So as you can guess I like playing against other people and not computer controlled characters.
Now to go into the main part of this topic. The comparison between gw2 PvP and PvE content and updates. As you may already know yourself: these parts are not equally developed.
So to begin with the most equal part of both fields: the gear looks – as far as I know, you can have every PvE gear look available at PvP (maybe not so easily obtained, but still it is possible to have).
Now about the less equal part, where you play the game – Maps. I think it would be unfair to compare all the PvE maps from lvl 1 to PvP maps available. So I’d rather compare the closest thing to pvp maps mechanics vise – instances or dungeons. If google is correct – gw2 has 8 instances with multiple paths and two modes, story and explorable. I personally went to only one of the instances, so there may be a mistake. But lets assume this is true, so you get 8 maps * 2 modes = 16 (not counting the different paths, since its not really important). Now I know that pvp has 3 maps used in tpvp and 1 that we don’t really want to talk about. Also 1 mode only 4×1=4. So at the playable places variety PvE is leading 4 times at least.
But we may think that these inequalities are being addressed via updates. From the top of my head I have noticed 2 events that added new content: Halloween and the current Shore one.
So first about Halloween event additions. For PvE:
- New quest chain
- New gear
- New usable items (food, recipes)
- Jumping puzzle
- Most of the pve maps had doors added into another plain, so also 1 more map
- Various hide and seek type modes in that new plain
- Costumes and fights with them (no it does not count as pvp content)
- One new instance
For PvP:
- Green fog in the mists
- New skins on few npcs at pvp map (Svanir, Lord, gate archer guard)
- Did not think of the 3rd one, but will try to remember later and add it here <-
Shore event, since it is currently still not fully released (i think – don’t really track these events) I will talk about things that were implemented till now. PvE:
- New gear
- New map
- New instance with many maps inside (the ones that I went was: swamp, water level, sieges with chars, ice lvl, climbing to free a giant, and some cave if i recall correctly). So at least 6 new dungeons.
PvP:
- One new map
- 10 man spvp servers were created (not really a content, but still an addition)
So basically in my opinion pvp lacks more places to play (maps) and more modes to not make it stale.
There is an argument, that ANet is not developing other modes because they will not be as balanced as conquest, since they only balance it in perspective of this mode. Maybe, maybe… But I would rather have duels, 2×2, 3×3 ranked matchups, ctf, even dm and object based missions (one team defending, other attacking as fast as possible then switch like in UT) with the balance issues, but have modes to choose from instead of 1 thing to do as a pvper. I have played many unbalanced pvp for example: during wow wotlk DK were probably the most unbalanced class in entire game with high survivability, magic shield block, healing, snares, silances, also the healers were almost unkillable 1×1 for most classes, But I still had fun dueling/playing against in arena with them and creating strategies how to win. Same could be told about L2 duels. So fighting against an opponent that is controlling a slightly overpowered class is still fun, besides the current gw2 balance issues are no where near other mmorpgs, but it may be more noticeable, since there are no healers to buffer this out.
So to conclude: Gw2 needs to pay a LOT more (!!!) attention towards pvp content, since currently it is just a one sided development that can cause very big problems in the future of pvp.
Or am I mistaken, that PvP content is currently very lacking, without even the basic things you expect in mmorpg?
(edited by Lukin.4061)
An hour of gameplay = monthly achievment+daily achievment, I have no idea why is this so difficult to reach for you…
Why you did 4k dmg when he did 9k dmg?
Well probably because you have a crappy set of runes (divinity is a fail set to people who don’t know what they are doing) on armor and maybe weapons, also do not know how to build your class. Yes there is a bonus if the opponent is a noob – usually all your hits land, since he has no idea what to dodge and how to counter you, thus by that logic, you get dmg+.
So to conclude: you either need to drop all this crap about gear giving advantage, learn to build and play your character against other people, or you can go back to killing mobs in pve that do the same thing over and over every time and pretend that memorization is = skill. Also can try wvw it also does not require learning your class, just stay in zerg and aoe. Hope my suggestions help…
P.S. Please, think before write, thanks.
No you cannot use any items that were obtained in pve at pvp, because it would be unfair to players that play pvp and dont grind instances many times.
And all that is not unfair for the ones who have grinded a little to obtain their equipments?
No, because they still can use these items in wvw. Grinding should not give you an unfair advantage in competitive pvp since only skill should matter there.
No you cannot use any items that were obtained in pve at pvp, because it would be unfair to players that play pvp and dont grind instances many times.
You can get all the runes from the npc vendor who sells armor/weapons/amulets and put them on your gear.
Well a basic spvp match, but liked the video because im in it : ]]
I have read your post twice and still have no idea why is this topic here…
First of all even if tf2 has a heavy, who lets say healed to full maximum of 450 hp can be one shotted, so not really same as gw2 guardian.
Secondly “i could play some pokemon.” What? I may be mixing this up, but isn’t it some japanese children’s cartoon with robot-animals fighting? What does that have in common with gw2?
In my humble opinion, kitten(rhymes with duck) healers – healing classes ruin every mmorpg game, because bad players that have a pocket healer do not need to be more skilled to win, all your mistakes are forgiven simply since dps can be now be outhealed instead of avoided by other means. Thank to smart development decisions on Anet, since if healers existed in this game it would be awful for pvp and pve: Tpvp – 3 bunkers 2 healers = always win.
(edited by Lukin.4061)
I like the idea on which you explain how prolonging the fear would be balanced and main issues with necromancers on pvp. In my opinion they could add some other cc since most of the classes have more than 1. So overall a good video, maybe a bit too long.
But I do not agree with your statement that if buffing a class for spvp it might get overpowered in pve. Since gw2 was aimed towards becoming esport mmorpg, they should not focus on pve at all – who cares if a character does too good of a dmg in pve, mobs wont complain I think… But arena net is just releasing more and more pve content, like events or new maps, and other meaningless stuff, so either they gave up on pvp entirely, or they are waiting for people to loose interest in it completely, but that is another topic…
I also only played PvP during betas, and I thought to myself that the whole idea is very good in gw2: no healers, no gear advantage, no grinding, you need to evade attacks, block attacks yourself, aim most of the skills you have.
But I actually thought there would be more pvp modes ingame, and ANet is just not showing it all during BWE. How wrong was I – nothing has changed in pvp field from the first beta (well to be honest – paid tournaments were added that rarely someone plays since queues are insane and the minimap is now square not round). I was hoping for at least duels, also more modes (CTF/DM/VIP escort/defend & attack) made possible for fewer people (2×2 3×3 not only 5×5)
Currently I still only play PvP, and not that wvw crap where gear matters, but all enthusiasm is changing and now it becomes boring fast…
P.S. Do not mix FPS and Gw2 – FPS conquest modes work because there are no bunkers at FPS. Also some best fps games are not in a conquest mode (quake, counter-strike).

An engineer is a class with very high number of knockbacks/snares and S potion that makes you evade all attacks and a possibility to become one of the best bunker build ingame has a problem with a thief? I do not play engineer (main in necro), but the basic idea is to dodge his burst that is usually first 3 seconds with dodge+s potion + dodge and kill the thief : o
Well it depends what kind of class are you playing, for example in my opinion cool looking armor that are easily obtained are:
Heavy – Armageddon set from free tournament
Light – dry bone set (it looks great on a necromancer)
Medium – maybe mist walkers, I myself use a mix of few sets.
You can get all items from mystic forge by using forumula arcane powder+arcane silver+tier token (deer for example or tournament) + item token (heavy helm).
Or you can get items from reward chest, that you can purchase from npc vendors or you get as a reward every lvl.
Well it is not only a problem for Asian/oceanic, since I live in Europe, and still have to wait at least 30 minutes to get 8 teams for paid tpvp, few times after nearly an hour waiting we just gave up, and went to free tournament instead. Also this game needs to have 2×2 3×3 to make things not so stale at pvp, because currently the bunker madness makes a very boring gameplay.
Well you will probably have enough glory if you spend all now, still you have 18 lvls to go, but if there are no sets that you like in current tier, I’d suggest waiting, since its just a waste that way.
mobility and facing opponent is not the same thing imho. btw as necro you can always fear opponent and channel every skill you like
Yes, you can always use that 1 sec of fear on 40 sec cooldown to cast all your skills that are on 3/4 sec cast time each : )

Not bad, but if I may suggest for next video don’t put wvw – since there is a possibility of gear difference, it is not as interesting to watch : )
Get few friends → go to empty server → duel with various classes → talk to each other what you do wrong/right what are the weak points. 1×1 is not about tankiness, its about knowing who you are fighting, and what tricks could they possible use against you.
Dam I hope they implement duels in next patch, because I am getting bored in going to empty servers and asking new people to leave or to go 1×1 without capping…
