Thanks Chrispy. A very helpful post. I haven’t played tier 3 that much yet. Just noticed the silver from the bag is a bit more and I already know about the 4-6 sprockets.
So about 5 tickets = 5 fights… maybe 50 silver, 25 sprockets. That already should be good if you win all 5 fights and can buy for 20 silver and 15 sprockets 5 new tickets and still have made more silver than needed to rebuy.
So gambits will make this faster it seems. But the probability for lodestones and stuff like that for each bag is not higher with gambits? (Only more bags?)
Did not know there were lodestones from that bag. I think I remember getting 1 portal. But lodestones would be nice.
I’m going to try for achievements first and then maybe if I can find an easy boss(slime seems easy if you already have the achievement for not killing the smaller ones and can just AoE and knockback spam him… or other CC).
Is Keg Brawl still in Hoelbraek cause it had always been there?
I can understand for the other stuff that they want a rotation because of the amount of players – we have the same with sPvP already where we can’t just chose the map we want to play.
Seems not like a good system. One of these reward bags is not really giving that much. Sometimes if I remember only a few silver and a few sprockets – not even enough to get a new ticket. You should be able to win much more tickets so you can just farm tickets easily with easy bosses if you need tickets for a harder boss.
Was one of the easier bosses for me(harder bosses: wind girl, fire guy and the first tier end boss). But I only played until tier 3 first boss(also extremely easy that ooze but need a 2nd try to not kill any of the small ones… probably doing this one for gambit achieves later).
You already need to attack a bit while collecting the 25 might things. I just used a lot of CC while running around and ranging him to keep him away while doing damage and collecting stuff. Engineer rifle and some ram or bomb is easy for this. Other classes probably also have CC or can cripple maybe.
Should be account-wide or much faster leveling.
I mean: look at sPvP – glory rank there also takes ages to max. And it is per account.
I would prefer it different – if it was per char at sPvP and much faster(and ratings per char at the leaderboards cause you play different with each class).
At WvW since it is only for unlocks it could be account bound. Or if they want it per char it should be much faster. I somewhere read it will be almost 10k ranks… which will be impossible.
I hope they are going to fix this… instead of continuing to add useless new abilities. Totally the wrong way. Nobody will ever get rank 10k with all 8 classes and if they keep adding abilities it will only get harder for new players.
Say yes to new game mechanics.
Say no to “hey players we give you big content update: 2 new abilitites, now kitten and be satisfied for a few months” updates – this is wrong.
I just remember at the “fire guy” I had some strange knockdowns ha ha. Seems this was the 2nd on your list. And I think I had this also at other bosses sometimes. This really is getting annoying.
Especially because you have repair cost, port cost and need to rebuy or farm tickets. Not that cheap this event…

Okay. I just refreshed and I’m in. 444. Ha ha. Never have been that high. This soon will change when more players get up there. Highest I managed was in the last few weeks only playing 3 dailies at old system and up to 70 percent… better only playing a few matches. I get bored and lose more often if I play tons of matches in a row.
Wasn’t in there 10 minutes ago. So it seems to update slower. 11h match I think was before the start of the last hour.
Thought it was 10 matches cause most have at least 10…
but with10 nothing happend. Now I did my 11th match and still not showing the percentage value.
Is this bugged? Or is it updating slower and not every hour as usual?
I just queued and got into Arena and my boss + the boss from the previous players was there… but the previous player wasn’t…
Didn’t pay attention as to what happend to him. Pretty annoying. I think he disconnected? (this might have removed him sending me to the Arena but not removing his mobs).
Got attacked by my boss and his boss.
Yes I know. Using an engineer with rifle and I love to use knockbacks. But still a bit annoying if he has the fire ring up. I tried another build now. Almost killed him. This should work. Using other traits which give more vitality and toughness + are good for turrets. He seems to target turrets sometimes… which buys me a few seconds time(of course this tiem I prefer if he attacks me and turret also attacks him ha ha). So I can use rocket turret for additional knockdown…. or use the turrets to buy some time… one time he also made the fire ring around the turret(using trait to throw turrets).
And trying with elixir S. This seems to work. Only was not careful enough this time but should work whith this setup. Trying again.
ArenaNet really should should have made waypoints up there a trainer nearby so you don’t need to spawn down to retrait. Seems really evrery boss needs a retrait… annoying to port back and run up again.
How to beat him? He does a lot of damage and sometimes he even instantly kills me if I don’t pay attention and get pulled and then he does some high burst damage.
Avoiding all the damage while in the circle is pretty hard and there are only limited abilities do get invulnerability to move out of the circle. Even with bunkerish build he is killing me fast.
And I saw a video from Dulfy which did not really help… it is really hard to see where he damages. At the video from Dulfy it sometimes seems like she is in an area covered by flames but not taking damage.
Which is the easiest strategy?
Which class/build is recommended here? Pretty hard fight cause I can’t do damage and she is attacking ranged. Even if I move behind the black areas she won’t move there and just keeps attacking me ranged. Skills to push here there of course won’t work cause she is invulnerable until she gets there.
Edit: Okay. Found I used the wrong skill… better using “knockback” and “launch” this is working. Some skill with “pull” in description got blocked and it said she was “immune”…
only problem now the perma knockdown from her attacks which is annoying and costing a lot of time.

Did for the daily the Urmaugs Secret JP in LA and got 1 support token. Shouldn’t they be removed from the loot table now that Cutthroat Politics is finished?
Maybe… but I don’t know why this wasn’t there before. Started only with the latest patch/update I think. Maybe sometimes it was a bit longer… I don’t really remember. But not that long and not every respawn on that map. It certainly takes longer for me now now.
Of course having random maps is nice and being able to play Skyhammer and Spirit Watch is also a nice think. The only problem I have is that we apparently start with a new rating(at least the leaderboards start with 0 matches played and I don’t think they start leaderboards with 0 and use the rating from the old leaderboard – rating only).
I don’t think they will change this… so it will just take some time…
I would prefer if they copied the old leaderboards to SoloArena cause at SoloArena now we have to start new and build up a ranking and rating… when most of the players at the old system already queued solo and they could just take that old rating and use it there(and start the TeamArena with a new leaderboard).
Problem is that afaik – for some reason(can you please explain why, ArenaNet?) – they copied the old leaderboards and ratings and are now using them for the TeamArena.
Which means all the tons of players that played solo at the old system don’t have a rating now…
Because SoloArena starts without rating.
I don’t know why ArenaNet did this. They should have made it the other way round:
TeamArena starting with a new leaderboard and copying the old leadarboard to SoloArena.
This would have hurt less people cause I’m sure the majority is queuing solo(and if a lot of people at the forums are going to say the opposite now then this won’t mean anything… cause the majority is not even in active at the forums… more of the “pros” tend to go to the forums… and of course more pros = more playing Team queue).
I’m at Europe and playing mostly in the evening. Here I usually had queues about between instant and 5 minutes waiting time.
At the moment for me it seems I’m getting more often a shorter queue.
At least for SoloArena(I’m only solo queuing). And I’ve been in the mid of the leaderboards. Might be more of a problem at the top to find enough people that good and skilled to match you with.
I agree with people that want Team leadearboards to be reset. I mean: They did this for SoloArena.
And with the old system most people queued solo. They should have copied that old leadearboard and ratings to solo queue and start with a new leaderboard for team queue. Not the other way round.
Just played my 3rd match for dailies at SoloArena at Foefire map. First 2 matches at Kyhlo worked without problems.
At Foefire I noticed after death when I clicked respawn it took me like 10 seconds to spawn… I could already hear some sound of fighting(must have been still from the place where I died cause at the spawn no enemies nearby). But loading screen was visible for like 10 seconds before I spawned and could move.
So I think this was something related to the server and not my client? (cause I could hear fighting from near the point where I died and the server did not move me to spawn and it took some time).
Constructive feedback: They forgot to copy the old ratings and rankings… and only copied them to TeamArena leaderboard.
Which was a huge mistake. At the old system most played solo already… and now they have no rating again… I just worked myself up to 70%. Now only getting crappy matches until everyone gets a rating.
Boring and discouraging players(and most of us were solo players) from playing cause it takes some time where we will have bad and boring matches.
The person that “forgot” to copy the old ratings to SoloArena should be instantly fired or they should fix this within the next 24 hours.
The problem is: We have no rating yet cause ArenaNet made the mistake and copied the old leaderboards and tatings to the new TeamArena leaderboard but forgot to copy it to the SoloArena leadearboard. So everyone starts new and unrated.
Don’t know why they made that huge mistake. Since most of the players at old system solo queued(and only a small percentage of selected professionals formed premade teams) they should have done it the other way round… or at least copy the leaderboards(and rating) to both).
Or at least the rating only(if this is possible).
You can just not give a kitten. This is something that always works.
Good to see Skyhammer and Spirit Watch back. They definitely need to be in rotation because playing them in hotjoin is boring(and I’m sure they did not create them so they could be ignored by everyone cause nobody likes hotjoin).
Since there is no other way to play them in a tournament-like environment without ratings(like unranked match) at the moment we need it like this.
Let’s see how it works with Solo Queue and Team Queue(or “Arena” how it is called now). If there are enough players and queues are not too high maybe they can even make more queues. But for now 2 queues is enough cause we first need to see how it works with the players splitting on the different queues.
I’m sure Team Arena will have longer queue time because most players are playing random/ solo?
But then again… this might be more like the old tournaments back then – and more “Pros” playing there – so it is okay to have that limited map pool there.
And all of the maps for the other queue. If you are solo and don’t like Spirit Watch just get a group and play the Team Arena. And don’t spoil other’s fun by complaining and wanting the maps removed even from Solo Arena. There are people that like to play these maps but don’t want to play hotjoin(where everyone can leave and switch teams as they like).
I’m sure also the other maps will be more interesting if you can play them with Team Arena in premade teams(better strategy because no randoms).
Edit: So is this now random rotation already? Cause it is “map pool” and not “rotation”? Would be interesting to know how this works exactly – if the map is chosen after they teams are matched… or if you know before queuing(like new map each hour or something like that).
Annoying if there is a team with 3 necros, 1 mesmer, 1 ranger – and your team has only 1 ranger as pet class and no other pet classes. The others have a huge advantage already only cause of the bad targeting(if you don’t bring lots of AoE to hit them and their pets at the same time).

Not worth the achievement points. I will not do that. You can get the meta achievement and the mini even without doing dungeons and without doing the 2500 points achievement if you want. Good for me since I don’t like dungeons. I’m at 500 points at the moment… I’m just not in the mood to play survival anymore… and at the weekend to do at the last minute some farming to get to 2500… if there were more achievement points I’d do it maybe…
but luckily there are not that many for this achievement. So it’s okay.
So it seems it is related to the next update about the Queen. But will this update also be about the GW2 birthday? (or will there be another special update after that since updates usually are every 2 weeks)?
Nice. I love that change. So we can use all the karma items to get the karma instead of saving them cause it does not matter on which care we use them if karma also will be in that wallet?

1) Did not read so far about that Solo Arena Team Arena. So I just checked the update page for August 6th and it seems this is something introduced with the next update? (Also there seems to be tons of other nice stuff for PvE like account wallet). Good thing. So there might be stuff like Spirit Watch at the “Solo Arena”(solo queue)?

this has been removed from rotation for a long time already. Are you still working on it and planning to bring it back with changes? Or will it stay a “hotjoin only” map forever?

This is know for a long time already and still not fixed. And getting annoying. I’ll be rank 30 soon (wolf) and still the Dolyak account medal only about 20 percent filled the bar at the char select screen.
Would be nice to get some answers. I’ll continue to do play sPvP only for daily(doing them in tournaments cause I don’t like hotjoin) until it is made a bit more fun by addressing that important issues(instead of only focusing on making tournaments and esports).
I think it’s a good matchup(I’m from UW). I was a bit shocked when I saw almost everything at our home borderlands capped by others while looking at the map when I was at EB yesterday at reset.
EB we had queue. And I think we did. We had some time both of the other servers attacking us… lost towers. But that is okay as long as we still defend our keep. Good think the others both are a bit stronger but not too much – they also are fighting each other which is good for us cause they are not at our place then.
Only problem might be that there are these “good weather players” that are not playing because we fight against 2 other servers that are higher rated(even if it is not that big of a difference in rating numbers).
Home borderlands I did not notice a queue when I joined there after disconnect(to play there a bit until queue for EB ready)… and I remember at other matchups we somtimes – at least at reset – had queue there.
I think a lot of people might do it the way I’m going to do it: Get a few badges for each one to do all the achivements and keep all the other support tokens you don’t need until the end.
So there might still be big changes in votes… even if one of them is ahead a lot at the moment.

I’m interested in what’s going to happen there in the future at that Collapse place which had been an arts district in the past(according to a previous post of AnthonyOrdon in this thread).
I somehow found it is random if the Grenadiers with Mortars spawn in the back… (or it depends on how many plunderers you kill if you let them walk back and kill them on the way back it seems to get easier and less other mobs spawn).
Also letting them at the Mortar(not killing the mortar) seems a good idea should they spawn. Worst is if they are there without mortar and attack you so you can’t get ouf of combat.
I think the dialoque you get when talking to Kiel or Evon is a bit different make it look like there was also Keg Brawl in the rotation and then just 1 NPC where you go that offers different minigame(maybe every week another one) of that rotation.
I think it also mentions Sanctum Sprint.
So if the linked release page is correct it will just be Crab Toss and Southsun Survival in a rotation + Keg Brawl that stays permanent in Hoelbraek. And no Sanctum Sprint(cause not mentioned there)?
He is right. If you did 2, 1 it only counts 1(even if it had shown the coutner at 1 after you did 2). Cause you need to do it in order you need to do 2 again now.
Chose the lowest dialogue option. You always get 1,2,3,4 options lowest is lowest tier. Highest is highest tier.
If you never did anyhting you have only 1 option for Tier 1.
If you completed 1 you have 2 options(do it again for Tier 1 and take it up a notch for Tier 2 I think).
If you completed 2 you have 3 options(do it again is Tier 2 this time… cause this was the last you completed and do it again refers to it; take it up/down for Tier 3/1).
If completed Tier 3 you have 4 options(do it again for Tier 3, take it up/down “a” notch for Tier4/2… and take it down “a couple” notches for Tier 1).
If you completed Tier 4 you still have 4 options with a bit different dialoque. I think do it again for Tier 4… down “a” notch for Tier 3. down “a couple” notches for Tier 2… and “let’s not push our luck”(lowest dialogue choice) for Tier 1.
I think it might get easier once more people have the Capper achievement. If the whole team is working together it is possible to stop the person with the crystal. If he is using Air his only good move is the 3 that makes him invulnerable and if you time one of that Lightning skills that prevents him from moving out of the circle after it then you can buy some time. Also using Air 2 to CC him a bit.
I was in one team where all most of the time focused on killing enemies carrying the crystal. And got 4-5 for Crystyl Breaker from that one match only. We even won cause 1 guy got 2-3 crystals for us and the enemy team was busy defending(and failing at defending) the whole time. Using T to target assist might help. And whole team required to zerg the guy down.
Crab Toss was the worst minigame. Atm Arena is a bit better than Survival. But the achievements are ruining it. ArenaNet needs to think before making useless achievements.
I hate it to not being able to play for the win and standing there waiting for enemies to cap the crystal(instead of attacking them) so I can kill them after they cap the crystal – cause of the achievement(and of course it is not that easy and takes ages).
Of course not. Everything in that achievements categories will be time limited only. I’m not 100 percent sure… but since there is an achievement for the Grandmaster of Om that only is possible while he is at Zephyr Sanctum(he will move to Lion’s Arch later so you can challenge him for the special move) I think this achievements also will be limited.
Achievements are bad designed. Southsun Survivor is giving only 5 AP while taking much longer…
At the Aspect Arena the Crystal Breaker is taking longer and giving 10 AP(that’s how it should be – taking longer = more AP).
But I think they should have designed it so the harder achievements don’t take that long and give less AP – meaning for Aspect Arena instead of 15 Crystal Breaker and only 10 Crystal Capper(in the time you need to get 15 Crystal Breaker you can easily Cap much more Crystals) there should have been like 30 Crystal Capper 10 Crystal Breaker only.
Crystal Breaker seems getting harder now that the people learn to play. Got 5 easily yesterday… and now only got 1 in a few matchs…
It also makes you not to play for win… you need a good team to ignore the enemies first and let them cap Crystals. Then zerg the capper down(for some reason it is not giving credit anymore when knocking him off the Arena with Air skill 2… noticed this now but I remember that I got credit for kill while doing this 1 or 2 days ago). So it bascially needs a team to zerg the capper down cause with all the others of his team defending him you can’t kill him other than using Air 2(which does not seem to give credit).
I played it a bit more. What I don’t like: Killing others is a better way to get more points… and often the one staying alive until the end is not at the top score(cause the best way is to hide somewhere and this way he is not getting much kills).
Karka seems a bit too strong. Also the headshot seems a bit too strong. If not many enemies are around it is not a problem(or if there are many enemies like in the beginning – and there’s still the grace period timer) cause you can easily try to avoid it. But with many people it is a bit annoying.
Also: A bit boring if you are dead and there are not enough revenge items to find… sometimes there are a lot(shortly after I died). Later it is hard to find more… and most of the stuff is boring… only helping alive players to kill another player. Only the Karka where you yourself can get another player killed without help.
Other than that it is “okay”. Good thing: They didn’t add achievements for winning cause this is a bit luck based again.
The points requirement is a bit high compared to the other activity(Aspect Arena) where you easily can get all the achivements… here it takes much longer.
I think they should adjust it so everyone gets points every few seconds staying alive(after grace period). And maybe less for killing. Since the game is about staying alive the time you stayed alive should have the biggest influence on your points.
Trying to to all the main achievements other than the one with 2500 points… then I’ll play each day a bit… maybe I’ll reach 2500… maybe not. I don’t need that achievement and to farm and play only for that achievement is a bit too boring.
I’d rather play the Aspect Arena which also is good to farm support tokens and for getting the better chests(when you win). Survival it seems you only get this better chest for last survivor? (Cause I was 2nd and did not get it?) So Aspect Arena is much better. More fun and better in terms of farming stuff cause the matches are fast and you often get the better chest(when winning).
Only the Desert Rose back item from survival seems an incentive. But that is at the merchants that trade for fortune scraps… and since I’m still collecting for a head item(250) but I think they are not that interesting… and the achievement point reward head is also nice and the others already ingame… I might just buy the Desert Rose from there and play Aspect Arena for that other back item(which I don’t like – then selling it if the versions you can win are sellable at TP like with the back catcher skin items).
Did it… Tier 4. With my engineer full exo(no ascended; WvW rifle build with a lot power and not that bunkerish – mixed with some knights and soldier armor/trinkets).
As rifle engineer I can use a lot of CC on the runners(plunderers). Also using Bomb Kit for Big ol Bomb and the Mine(only knockback not launch but still good). Last skill the rocket boots to get away from enemies if needed should I get too much aggro. Not using the ram here… not enough range for my taste.
Supply Crate as elite… I don’t like the idea of moving into water to lose aggro. Then I’m not back fast enough and get killed(should I ignore the enemies in the back near the drop points).
Staying at land near drop points was better for me. And only killing plunderers and try killing all the Vet Grenadiers building the mortars in the back to be able to stay there safe(used my Elite Supply Crate do do that and killed 1 guy then waited for the plunderer that ran a bit and got him while walking back… then killing next grenadier).
Soloed until T3 now. T4 is a bit harder but I’ll try to solo it too. Main problem at T4 seems that there are more people spawning in the back near the drop points(and more veterans there).
But with that upscaling… 5 man group we really got pwned even at T3(that’s why I tried to solo it and managed do to T3).
What is best? 3 man groups someone mentioned? (and upscaling for 5 too much it seems cause everyone complaining)
While alive it’s good but I think it’s boring if you are dead… and then it takes too long for a match. If you die early you will have to stay too long in the boring dead form trying to kill the others. You basically lost and need to wait long.
Other than that It is “okay”.
Afaik the Sanctum Sprint is already promised by both – ant this is related to Zephyr Sanctum. So it should not be a problem if Zephyr Sanctum “goes away”.
Since it is a rotation and we have the trading agreement they probably will visit more often? (and then enabling that activities in the rotation)
An interesting experiment. I’m really interested how the votes are developing. I hope they are publishing percentages at the end and not only telling who won.
WP cost seams not interesting. Of course the reduced Key price seems interesting. But if you think about it: It is only a few weeks and we might get cheaper prices also at special events like christmas(Wintersday). So might also not be that interesting(IMO this should be permanent or at least a lot longer – and then make other stuff the players can vote for later after this expires).
Aetherblade and Molten Facility are promised by both. Same for the mini games.
I think in the end it will be more about that exclusive fractal and if more players care about Abbadon(there are also a lot of GW2 only players that probably don’t care and then maybe chose Kiel cause she is better known and we had past story stuff that we completed with her).
Regardless of who is winning I hope to see both of them return in the future(and I’d like to work more with Evon… or with both of them). Maybe they could write it so Evon gets a bit nicer and a “good guy” and becoming friends with Kiel… and then Kiel helping Evon and working with him together should he win(or the other way round if Kiel wins) and then we getting story with both of them and maybe more cutscenes and stuff with Evon(while Kiel is still there).
Or maybe… maybe some Asura is creating a golem named “Evon Kiel” or “Ellen Gnashblade” lol.
Since I liked Spirit Watch sPvP map I also like the Arena – does not make the mistake to spawn only 1 crystal(Spirit Watch: Orb). More crystals spawning makes it more interesting.
Also it is more team based cause you need to protect and attack crystal runners. Dragon Ball was only about killing? (I don’t really remember it anymore but I can’t remember any other objectives).
I don’t like the Survival but I like the Arena. And now don’t get me wrong – I don’t want all the people that like the survival(I know there are a lot) to come and flame in this thread – I don’t want Survival to be removed from the promised rotations.
ArenaNet should give a reason why there will be no Arena. At the moment I have a only one possible reason: We already have stuff with Aspects at the Sanctum Sprint. But that’s not a good reason… I mean they include Crab Toss and Survival which means 2 Free for All activities based in Southsun. So 2 activities with Aspects should not be a problem?
Let’s look closer at the promised activities. If I remember correctly: Keg Brawl, Survivor, Crab Toss and Sanctum Sprint – anything else? (Did not want to open the client and I don’t remember the dialogue completely).
There seem to be 3 Free for All or “everyone vs. everyone” and only the Keg Brawl team based. I’d like to have the Arena added cause I like it and I’m sure a lot of others like it(even though it needs some balancing but that you could say for the other stuff too). Also it is team based and we play an MMORPG – team based stuff is nice.
Now they could just add the Arena so we have 1 more activity in that rotation or remove 1 other thing. We probably don’t want Survival removed. Leaves Keg Brawl, Crab Toss and Sanctum Sprint. With Keg Brawl one of the oldest activities(since Release) this probably also is unlikely to be removed.
Leaves Crab Toss and Sanctum Sprint either remove one of these at both… or let Evon support one and let Kiel support one… I’m sure more people like Sanctum Sprint and it would be good if this was exclusively supported by Ellen(since a lot of people seem to play only for rewards and support Evon cause of the reduced key prices only at the moment?)
