Then I think I found 5(or 6) on the way up to Zephyr Sanctum… and I think I saw one down near a sky crystal.

Are there more on this map?
Only looked near the way up and looked at the minimap.

But I don’t think it is worth farming them every day? Seems the price is low and if you want to make money even running Sprint is faster cause of the silver(and you could just get quarz there and buy additional with the silver).

Best I can get in a “full match” is 4th. When I played with only 3 I won. Also I was able to run a few times by myself yesterday… cause lucky and only 3, 2, 1 players.

Oh from Sprint chests also? Did not know this. I ran about 20 sprints and won 1 time… and got a back skin when winning. But the other ones only the coins and karma and green item. Maybe the chance is higher when winning?

Is there a rare chance for every node(also the nodes on Labyrinthine Cliffs)? Or only for the node at home instance – cause for home instance node yesterday I only got 3 normal quartz and today 3 normal + 1 charged.

Rating/ranking matters very little. It simply determines what bracket of servers you may possibly face in the next matchup. Before the changes to the match making system it did serve a purpose of highlighting the servers with the best coverage/organisation/numbers. It doesn’t really serve that purpose anymore

But it is still nice to see a rating gain when fighting against a stronger server and getting pwned and getting less points but still gaining raiting. It prevents people from stopping to play – you can use it against the people that whine when it is like 150k vs. 100k… and the ones with only 100k are whining at your own server. If you still gain rating then you know you are performing good enough.

Of course good = more players/coverage since it does not show skill… but that’s how WvW is.

Class balance and viability on Skyhammer
Every class have some skills, that either fear, pull or push you down. If you have to be a lot more careful where you stand. In combination with the laser canon immobilize and freeze matters even more. Let’s wait and see, if the meta on this map will change, that the teams will only try to kick the other team down, and use the laser canon for additional damage or not.

Warrior has fear. He is useful now. Lol.

Regarding spectating/eSports: Is there a fixed cam point near the cannon room? The 1 time I spectated at an hotjoin I only found near the mid point and down near the portal?

Apparently(according to German patch notes – they seemed to be out faster this time) the Norn got nerfed… and they removed the food buff exploit. Can someone try again without food and tell how he is now? I might try again without food later or in the next days.

Keep discussing, but I’m curious: Would having templates alleviate the issue of not wanting to respec for certain maps?

We do see teams shift their comps around for certain maps (and it seems to be very effective), would this not be along the same lines?

Templates are important. I barely respec cause I’m to lazy… taking too much time and I just want to play and not respec and stuff(espcially if you also have to take different equip, runes an stuff). Maybe pros are still doing it even if it takes time. I don’t want it. In PvP we want to play…

Med.6150, great points! To piggyback a little on what kirito.4138 said, are you also fine with having every map be a conquest map? Or do you think that new game modes would/should not require respecing as well?

Secondary mechanics already are nice… unfortunately most people don’t want to play the more interesting maps like Spirit Watch and now Skyhammer(cannon being OP is just what makes it interesting and the falling damage and pushing people down stuff). Only good map with no whine at the moment is Temple of the Silent Storm – which is the best map in game atm.

I guess people want plain conquest without 2nd mechanics or just deathmatch or free for all.

Edit: Cannon is fine. If you don’t like the dmg then control it to use it against others instead of having the others use it against you.

Falling seems bugged? Someone mentioned it is possible to not to die and having to go to a sand wurm to get killed. Needs a fix. Also falling death could port you to WP with a lower waiting/respawn time than usual.

Alternative: As suggested making it a bit harder to push people down… but not too hard.

I’d prefer lower respawn time after falling death… OR(only one of that stuff) maybe some powerups to get a 5-10s stability after one CC… so you can move to another position and no fast “double knockback/launch” is possible which is the biggest problem.

Edit: Also bring back Spirit Watch soon please… or don’t remove Skyhammer until Spirit Watch is back… I don’t think it is a good sign if you removed both 2 maps… at least 2 always should stay in rotation while other maybe gets worked on to improve it. It only will show that you have no confidence in your ability to improve the map… scaring players away from sPvP.

Spectators are not important. Playing is more fun. Why would anyone want to spectate when you can just play? Lolz. We are not DotA. For some games it’s just that they have spectators… cause it is like this and people were there from the start.

I don’t think most of the usual people want to spectate – they want to play. Is some rare occurence for some special games where also the spectating is promoted… and not only by making the game mode like it. You need big tournaments and stuff and sponsored prices and advertising…

I don’t think ArenaNet or anyone else(they expect the community to set such stuff up with CAs) wants to to stuff like that. It’s an MMORPG with a PvP mode. Not some “esports” game made with esports in minde. (they would have made a seperate sPvP game only then).

Is PvP in WoW – the biggest MMORPG – important because of spectators? Is WoW that big because of PvP? I think most play it because of PvE… and when I hear people talking about “watching some stream” they either watch Let’s plays or some dotalike stuff or Starcraft 2. Never heard anyone about a MMORPG PvP watching.

People not getting killed by falling down seems like a bug. Should be fixed. Maybe instead of dying a port back at full health to your WP… with a timer… but shorter timer than respawn timer after a “real kill”.

Ha ha. Funny someone mentioning Guardian and Elementalist. Guardian was my 2nd, Elementalist my 3rd char/class.

Wanted to have some real melee class since engineer did not have a real melee weapon(also I think shield is looking sexier with a guardian). Did not know Warrior would be stronger PvE and back then Guardian with all the support abilities seemed interesting.

Ele 3rd cause recommended back then and it seemed best for DPS. Also the Air +25% speed trait.

Ranger my 4th char… tanky and movable pet instead of stationary turrets.

Thief… cause of stealth… 5th char.

So far I prefer Guardian, Ranger…(real melee, real ranged and easy to play) don’t like Ele and Thief… too squishy and hard to play if you want to be pro.

With my newest char slots I’m trying Mesmer(don’t like it… only will use it for portals maybe and support stuff in WvW… never in sPvP or PvE). Warrior: Seems good. Also nice to have lots of weapons to chose from.

Necro will be started soon… I heard 5k AP chest will give a big gold reward and 400 gems… like free char slot for me. The 8th one I still need.

WOW we should give UW some cookies, lol why do you UW players even place screenshots like this? Again proof UW are the masters of PvD while the other servers are sleeping!! UW show us some screenshots during daytime and primetime with impressive scores, OOH wait UW can’t, because during these times you guys hide behind your walls and sieges!!!

Same for your server. That’s why you are losing rating. That’s why you are angry. You only win if you have 2-3 times more people. Another “good night” for UW and a strong early friday until reset and we should be fine. According to Millenium at the moment a bit more rating gain than the french but that might be close depending on the next night and early friday.

Only 1 legendary(for 2 or more you already would need a lot more badges)… – badges can be used for other stuff(blueprints, gear at WvW vendors for coints + badges).

Played it by myself… buggy matchmaking? Got a full match… then another full match. Then 2 matches with 3 only(I one the 2nd) and then 2 matches with 2 only… then I was by myself.. 2 times… left the 2nd one… cause this would seem like exploiting to run it by myself. Also it was boring and I still need achieves for skill uses.

Biggest problem for me is the non dodgeable stuff you can’t see – that just hits you and you can’ t do anything about it. Very bad when you get knocked down and set back to a checkpoint… but I guess you have to save the stability skill for that special places cause a lot of players seem to put them at those small platforms where you easily can fall down.

Edit: … Wow… and just won… but with only 3 players… only 2 others in the match. Being first also is a good idea.. if you try this from beginning. Then others can’t put stuff in front of you. Also only 1 of these skills seems to knock back while jumping if I read descrption correctly. Often used at lightning skill 3 jumping platforms.

And got the back skin from chest. Lucky.

Edit2: How bugged… 2 times 3 playesr only. 1 time 2 only… then I’m alone by myself lol. Can’t be that there are not enough players.

Spirit-Hammer gets finally viable!!!

This gave me an idea: Spirit Watch + Sky Hammer = Spirit Hammer map. A map with such a huge cannon… but you need to get an orb there to charge it(and get a few shots… only 1 would be too boring… a few more but not too much so you wouldn’t spam the cannon).

No. Nothing. 2 skritt(or what race was it?) – you get a talk option to them… no real dialogue window. And not possible to select or interact with that kites. Only the “small” ones at the open world.

Lol. Glad I only played Living Story yesterday and today(but maybe joining WvW a little bit later). Skyhammer sPvP is also fun. There might be a reason that nightcapping like on that screen was possible(more people on FSP playing Living Story at night?) – cause usually they are the ones that do the night capping… not we from UW.

Actually there should be a meta… changing the meta text a few minuts earlier making it possible for you to go there… to see an actual sub-event belonging to the meta with the timer until it starts… like 5 minutes. I got the achieve already… due to some bug they apparently hotfixed already according to the notes.

There was a thread about that guy… and a hint how to beat him. But seems it was considered “exploit” and got ninja deleted without even PM. You might ask others in the game.. probably not allowed to post it at the forums anymore. But everyone is using it.

Edit: And they hopefully will not fix only the exploit but also balance that guy a bit since they already know from the thread that he is a pain and people only beat him by luck with trying for hours.

It’s okay… problem is that they might not sell this again after the event(and then you still can play the game but only if you bought the 100g stuff or enough other 1, 5 time uses items).

And another problem: This game is boring… why not the fun minigames we had in the past? All of them were temporary… and this boring stuff(I did not even like it in personal story) they are bringing… what are they thinking lol?

So why can I not choose a rifle, pistol or shield just now? Why could they not have put other stuff like staff, bows and greatsword later and at least 1 weapon an engineer can use earlier?

They should just hotfix it so we can choose from all and choose to unlock 1 each time… the order we want.

Edit: is this with the “…” for sure? Could be trolling of ArenaNet… we never know until it is ready. Waiting for the next chest then.

So they are all weapon skins we can choose from? A few have it in the name already like “bow” so you can see the weapon type. What are the other weapon types?

Which one of these we can choose from is the rifle, pistol or shield? Preferrably rifle cause I like that with my engineer… if not I’ll just take a pistol or shield… but don’t tell me there is none of them. Would be bad since it seems they have the same stuff to chose from at one of the later rewards again. Would put certain classes at disadvantage.

giving rewards newer players never will reach cause they can’t get the past dailies and there is no cap.

new players will reach them eventually.

but if you remove achievement points from dailies, you will actually be stopping them from reaching it.

I meant also removing them from “old dailies” – like capping them at 0(where they capped Agent of Entropy at some 200 or 250? and then removed everything higher than that).

Now let’s see how the rewards are… and until which amount of achievement points they go… we still don’t know that – we can only see like the 4-5 next… maybe they also could make it that there is a bit room… so not like going up to 10k with rewards(only a small amount will have 10k when I with only 6.2k are in 90% at leaderboards). Then it won’t look that unreachable if they don’t go too high with rewards(or making the higher rewards only like +x magic find so nobody is whining cause of an unrachable nice skin… they could be max 8-10 points maybe and after that only +x something account bonus).

Capricorn is a new or old map? Cause it is crappy which means it must require no skill – so it must be a new map?

Also Temple is still in rotation. Don’t see a lot of people complaining here… and afaikt it is one of the newer maps.

I think Temple is the best map. You have many objectives – also the secondary objectives force you to go to more places (8:30 not only be at top OR down but at both buffs).

Yes you can knock them down there… probably no whining cause you don’t die from falling down in the water?

I do it to keep the thread up… maybe they will change something then. There can’t be enough reasons for this.

And I’m not really mainly doing it for gold… 1 time a got an Abyss dye other time only crap… and I’m making more gold WvW at the moment with all the rank chests and just getting Ori nodes at JP.

The problem is: If I crated other stuff… then I’d get all those stuff to 250 stack or get all the armor I can craft(so I can just salvage it again which is pointless)…

There is no real use for crafting… and at some point you stack up all the materials. And you can’t even say “just keep the glory and don’t buy chest” cause there are soo much chests from tournament wins…. they eventually will stack up… and take up space(throw away vs. open… opening more of a pain but nobody likes to throw away stuff).

Which gives me a new idea – at tournament win they should let us choose between chest or crafint materials. Technically it is possible to make rewards where you can choose – we already had this at personal story. Would prevent the tons of chests and you could chose the materials you need.

And dyes are an easy way to get rid of stuff without having to waste anything.

The top leaderboard players are only a small percentage. Problem is even a lot of not top players complain about such maps – since they care about their rating and ranking.

I think ArenaNet should make the game fun – which means we need to be able to play these maps in a tournament-like environment(hotjoin is NOT fun – they could remove the map then).

“unranked matches” with all the maps(or even different map pools and queues) would help everyone. Players that play only for fun can play their favorite maps – not being forced to do hotjoin.

Players playing only for rating maybe also like this new map cause it is fun… but don’t want to play it because of their rating ant they think it is random to get knocked or feared down. They might play it in hotjoin… but as we all know: EVERYONE thinks hotjoin is more boring and only glory farming.

The only reason people play hotjoin is that they farm glory(useless no real use for glory) or are afraid cause of their ranking(they really would like to play more a tournament-like environment but don’t want to get rated there).

Since these are not real tournaments(only 1 match) let’s call them ranked and unranked matches.

3 different queues.

1 queue with our usual maps that are considered “okay” by “pros” – for ranked matches.
1 queue with the same “okay” maps for unranked matches.

And 1 queue with all the other maps(Capricorn, Spirit Watch and now maybe Skyhammer).

These maps would only have 1 queue but since there are less maps in these pool it would rotate faster. Would be okay and enough possibilities for everyone to play all the maps they want in a tournament-like environment.

We don’t need the ArenaNet “server xxx” hotjoin servers.

Edit: This would make only 3 queues which is still better than 1 queue/map. And a lot better than not being able to play certain maps(being forced to hotjon – nobody wants it).

Need a way to turn the other stuff into powder instead of only throwing it away and buy more chests to get more powder.

Like: Putting 4 stacks of 250 orbs into MF(1000 orbs) could give 500 powder. This would be the easiest way. Of course for all other stuff with different results(more rare stuff = more powder).

The majority of players actually like the game and play it instead of going to the forums. “Loudest players” always are the ones complaining – even usually non-forums guys come to forums if there is something to complain(good example the obsidian sanctum WvW for achievements lol).

Spam thief heartseeker. Spam autoattack. Lol. All about spamming. Spamming grenades. If you spam then you’ll reach a CD(yes engineer is a bit too low… did not know why they lowered ram with the other update… they can permanently rotate between skills like there).

Maybe after all CC the target affected by CC should get a stability for 10 seconds so you would need to time the CC more. You could still it against a lot of different targets(with some classes that just have a lot of access to CC)… but not just combo use it to “launch” someone from half across the map to the end and push them down. Cause with 10s stability he can do a lot to get out of a dangerous position.

Of course 10s seems a bit too much. Would need to be tested what amount would be good(also the person using lots of CC can’t be controlled that easy anymore than).

And then you use the 2000 powder with 200 slivers and still have the 1000-2000 orbs and crystals that you can’t use cause there is no powder to use and no way to convert them into powder(you only need them for other crafting stuff and don’t need them for dyes).

Implement this as soon as possible. Everyone will be happy. Should have been in there from release.

Nobody likes hotjoin. All want tournament cause 5 vs. 5 and no random joining/leaving and not that zergy as hotjoin.

But fun maps will be removed from tournament cause we are forced to play them and some people don’t like them – that’s why they get removed. They are useless then. Nobody wants hotjoin. And I don’ t think you want to remove the maps you put a lot of work into completely from the game(you should do that if they only are playable in hotjoin cause nobody needs hotjoin).

Because people dont want to wait a few days until other maps are in rotation and we don’t want all maps from tournament removed(you can’t remove only a few maps and punish the players that like these maps but hate the other maps still in rotation)…

we NEED:

Different queues for each map. Make it so I can select the map I want ot queue for and then I will be put in a queue for this map.

I don’t care if it suddenly takes 30 minutes instead of only 2-3 minutes to queue. Let us queue from everywhere then – like from PvE and WvW from some menu… so we don’t need to stay in Mists for 30 minuts. Then a longer time is not a problem.

Will also increase the quality of matches because longer queue = less people “just doing tournament for daily achievements trolol”.

What skill is there in that in just CCing someone while they get annihilated by that. Sure it makes everyone play different builds, but in a 3-round tournament, you cannot change builds, you can change utilities and traits.

There are no 3-round tournaments. And they probably won’t come back that soon(they might have other maps then at these 3-round tournaments).

Skill by CCing someone that gets killed by falling down? Yes. You need to time and save the skills that do these stuff… and be careful not to die to others that do this.

Also both teams need to to the same. All maps can be played in tournament. Cause it is not the maps that need to be balanced(maybe if they give a terrain advantage to some team – such stuff has to be balanced) but the players and teams.

Even classes don’t need to be balanced 1 vs. 1 and a few classes can just be stronger at one map – no problem… if the teams are balanced and the players(meaning by skill and team composition so every team has a few playing classes that are good at that map for certain stuff).

Face the truth: You just don’t like the map cause you play a class that is not good at this map and get pwned by the other teams… which also might because the map is new. People will learn to play it and just have someone controll the cannon for their team then everything is fine… even if you don’t play a “good class”… cannon won’t be able to hit you as long as somene else from your team plays a “good class”(fearing others down and controlling the cannon).

Of course both teams then will have people fighting for the cannon. Which makes it fun. Better than some secondary objetcive you can just ignore… like Foerfire “lets zerg at middle and never to go lord”.

You use skills to push them(launch) or fear. More fun and skill play then the usual “hey taking a build from internet and using a preset skill rotation”.

But chests are not powder. You need to open them… then salvage the stuff… and then you get the powder. You use the powder… and other stuff not used like orbs will get more and more.

Removing daily completely would also be a good idea yeah. I mean there are still the rewards like laurels and for PvE daily the chance at stuff from the gem store(I often got a BL salvage kit) that are good enough rewards itself. I do dailies cause of this.

And all peole should do them because of this. Not like “hey I only need to to 5 ouf o 10+ but I’m doing everythign cause I want every single 1 achievement point” – that is stupid.

Leaderboards still can stay. But they should fix the other stuff – especially now that you get rewards for achievement points. This is more of a problem… giving rewards newer players never will reach cause they can’t get the past dailies and there is no cap.

I have orbs > crystal > sliver > powder ha ha. Yeah slivers often are also rare. But there are recipes(for Mystic Forge; which afaik use powder). I’m glad I get 3 often from salvaging and most of the time I’m low on powder(if making dyes only… don’t know if this would change when I started producing other stuff like PvP gear for skins… but there I just rely on drops from chests which are plenty enough).

Yes. It’s back. There are also fractals if I have seen it correctly. So don’t whine. I’m sure there are also other people that don’t like to do fractals but they put something for everyeone in the game. And you don’t need all the stuff to get Meta.

Get away from the “I need to do all achievements” and have fun in the game instead of seeing it as work “I need to work to do all the stuff”(vs. “I have fun and to only the stuff I want to do”).

If you can’t do this then it is not ArenaNets problem. They can’t remove all the achievements a few people don’t like.

Imo, stats like Zerker have no place in WvW, if you’re squishy in a zerg you’re a liability to the zerg, if you’re zerker for roaming you have less consequences, but Soldiers or Rabid can do just as well as you.

I prefer it… cause damage, damage, damage. And AoE. It is fun. I want to do damage against the others and especially if they all use higher defensive stats it won’t work without good amount of power. Still I’m not fully berzerker but I use a lot of power(I don’t like conditions and I rarely die to conditions in zerg fighting… just to many others helping). Power more reliable. Can’t be cleansed.

Also I die less often than most others in zerg fighting… cause I just throw AoE and run away ha ha. Of course the others following the enemy to get killed… they are stupid. High defensive stats won’t help there if you run to the legendary defenders at their spawn or if your main zerg stays and 10 run to follow 1 guy around the whole map and running into some other enemy zerg.

Thief… I never do 1 vs. 1. If he gets lucky and 1st hit then losing. If not I can make him run away… but they often get lucky – so running away after he hits. Killing a good thief can almost be impossible. If you just come with 10 to kill him you waste time and they just run away. Ignoring them is better… only if they attack Dolyaks but then you just stay and defend them all the time(killing thief – even if it works – then moving away… won’t help they just come back and kill Dolyak you need to stay there).
