When I played Fractals, I accidentally left the party, which in turn brought everyone else with me as I was leader of that run at the time. I honestly have to say that I prefer this change as it lifts, to an extent the frustration of other players. On the negative side, it does appear that anyone even the leader of said instance would be targetted for a kickout, which I think is a lesser of the two evils here. I’d rather have my fellow party members go on their instance without me (or wait for someone else to fill up the vacant slot) rather than let everyone go down with me.
Thinking about it now, I didn’t know about this mechanikittenil recently, which would explain why I left the instance immediately despite not me getting my loot from a particular dungeon. There was no warning involved at all.
Creating a sandbox feature in a themepark MMO is a LOT harder than you might think.
I don’t think we are gonna make a GW2-scale map in SAB, right? Just small levels.
I am confident that SAB will come out at some point, but at the same time, I’d like to pitch in an idea I got that would probably make SAB a more permanent thing (hopefully) which I got from playing me Super Meat Boy and Shadowrun Returns. Why not provide a toolbox in addition to the update that will allow modders to create their own SAB levels? That way we can see more creative stuff from the fanbase and gamers will always get brand new levels to try out from the easy-peasy to the hair-pulling frustrating. Replayability ensured, wouldn’t you say?
I am all for changes myself, but as with too much preservation would cause stagnation, changing too much would lose a game’s identity as an MMO, which I admit that’s what I fear the most.
Leonora and Beatrice are the nicest sounding names for females in my opinion, so both get an 8/10.
For my necromancer, I went by: Lady Malkav
9/10 because glasses make any girl pretty, aside from ponytails
This is my waifu
(edited by Malkavian.4516)
I’d totally pay you to make a second copy like that. Including shipping.
1. A Guild system notifying members who joined, representing or otherwise of scheduled events going on via mail.
2. For Necromancers, I’d have loved having a system giving me more control over my Minions’ AI (probably similar to how a Ranger would control his pets)
3. A more engaging way to immerse players into the lore behind Tyria outside of just showing flavor text. For reference, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4Wn4wAOZmQ&list=UUYUY9_i44IDNOs_Ja815mlA
I’d have loved to see this come to fruition at some point. If they don’t bring it back through lore books, the alternative would be to make a Beastiary out of it. Flavor text towards a certain creature or boss you have recently slain.
I think that what everyone is Really looking for is either an Expansion or/ and some actual end game content like Rides, bosses etc for veteran – non pvp – players to do.
Seriously, think about it. That’s probably the only thing that keeps WOW alive today so you can’t say that it’s not worth it or that people don’t like it.
I have thought about it and my thoughts on it is this: the reason WoW is alive to this day, and other MMOs for that matter is the community itself. If you grind for gear, it’s naturally going to be fun playing with others be it as a party or as a guild as it’s most likely a chore to do it alone. And why does this game have to be WoW to stay alive in the first place? There are other less popular MMOs in the world that remained alive longer than WoW ever did and they still remained standing. And there is also the fact that you bought the game assuming you’d be playing WoW with a different paint-job, which probably leads to your disappointment and desire to leave.
I too desire an expansion much like a lot of users here and I am confident it will come in the future. I got all the time in the world to see that realized. But for that to happen, the expansion must have features that the core game could not provide through free updates (obviously) and to pull that off, it takes time.
Oh and you mispelled “raids”
Call me a white knight if you will, but I’d like to be called content with what I got. I just make up my own endgame as I go. As for what I have in mind…. I don’t even know. And I like to keep it that way. Makes the game last all the more longer.
Besides, as far as end-game is concerned, we do have PvP, WvW, Achievement hunting, World Completion, Legendary Weapon Creation, Explorable Dungeons to play past the story ones. Exactly what IS end-game content to you guys anyway?
(edited by Malkavian.4516)
You might want to contact Support for that. They are there for a reason, you know. :/
By minion resurrect you mean resurrecting corpses in battle to act as minions or resurrecting your existing minions (because necro minions unlike Ranger pets are dispensible). It seems that you are expecting a little too much, hence the disappointment you face.
My 2 words are: “It’s okay”
Seriously though, a little disappointed that there is not much love for the minionmancer build for the feature patch as it’s my preferred playstyle in all 3 modes. But AI aside, Minionmancer has hardly ever disappointed me.
I’d like to be optimistic about this as I am in no hurry in seeing certain suggestions and feedback come realized that’s related to actual improvement in the overall experience. I am thinking of replacing Spears and Polearms with Halberds (thinking about Lu Bu’s weapons from Dynasty Warriors)
I just noticed that we have most of the well known melee weapons in the game except for spears. I currently can’t put my finger on it, but I always imagined that these types of weapons would be really neat to have for Tyria. I can picture most of the skills having to do with dashing towards your foes at a great distance. I am not gonna ask for a new class for it as I think Warriors and Guardians can use them just fine. But what do you guys think about it?
EDIT: The spears and tridents for underwater combat don’t count.

Human nature dictates that we’d never be completely content with what we are given as we’d always want more and beyond. But I’d at least be happy for the time being if we got a new race to play with. For funzies sake, I wanna play a Grawl and just hop around Tyria like an idiot.
An expansion is a great thing for any game, especially Guild Wars 2. But to provide such a thing Anet has to offer something that not even Living Story could provide, justifying the cost to buy it to begin with. And there is also the issue of when is the best time to get an expansion.
I just can’t picture that scenario in real life, man. I think the more appropriate scenario is if you are having trouble ignoring it, best approach to handle this is similar to shopping for something you want. Ask yourself these questions:
1. Do you want this backpiece?
My answer: Yes
2. Why do you want this backpiece?
My answer: Because I thought it would compliment the motif I have for my Human Necromancer. Or perhaps it would make my Sylvari Mesmer all the more interesting with a living plant stuck to his back.
If your reasons are solid enough, then go for it. If they are not solid enough for you, then ignoring them should be a little easy for you. It’s not like you see every character in the game wearing them anyway like the next fad.
It’s true people play games for the fun of it. But there are different gamers out there and considering this is an MMO, there are different things to do to achieve that fun. People craft different things to make their characters look appealing and there are those who just enjoy the journey behind the crafting process. Others just wanna play PvP to improve their skills. Some just wanna finish the story and enjoy what the game has to offer it. Bottom line, if you don’t want to make something because you think it’s a waste of time and resources, then simply do something else that you think is worth it.

@Sunshine, I do like to craft me an ascended item every now and then.
@Labjax By reward should be equivalent to the effort, it should also come down to: “do you want this item?” If yes, then work for butt off for it. If no, then what’s the problem?
For one thing, saves you inventory space and you don’t have to go to a merchant every now and then to buy the salvage kit.
For Orr to be rebuilt would mean that the human gods are a-coming. So, I doubt it would be part of the Living World (at least at this season)
I don’t see anything bad about it. Newbies get some easy rewards but if they want the juiciest ones, they’ll need to work for it.
Looking at it, endgame content is what you make of it after you did the story missions. My endgame is making my legendary. I wouldn’t consider it my complaint per se (I can’t say the same for others) as it’s more of a minor gripe for me. As for no new areas, we at least got Dry Top, right?
Feature patches like this are basically a bundle of fixes to what is existing in this game. I don’t know if there was a Feature Patch that literally added anything new, but from what I will get, I’m not too worried. Besides, I got the season 2 story chapters to look forward to once this is cleared out.
Made 4 legendaries, got all cult gear, 1500+ skins, 17k AP, r68 pvp, r400+ WvW, complete everyday more than 100x (CM and CoF over 600x) have 4 character story/map completed, deleted over 10 level 80’s. Done 50 fotm at least 100×.
And I feel and always felt there was enough endgame.
About those feature patches, NO ONE WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT LEVELING, everyone want bug fixes and more content…. not pointless non-rewarded rewards.
I don’t think this is meant to address levelling complaints. But either way, if I read this correctly, I don’t see any harm in this update. As for bug fixes, yeah I definitely want some of em too as I encountered my share of problems.
If you want more content, never forget that Season 2 is still there. Once the Feature Patch is out, we can get back to slaying the Jungle Dragon himself.
I thought that feature was scrapped due to negative feedback by the Chinese.
EDIT: it turns out that there was outcry but KongZhong apparently suppressed the negatives relating to this feature. The whole VIP thing doesn’t say much about it’s payment model if that is to be integrated to the game. I’d assume this would be like how Valve treats Team Fortress 2, where if you bought the game, you get VIP status over Free 2 Players.

Blog post confuses me…
- What new player is going to read the changes in this blog post? A new player is going to just pick up the game and start learning it by playing it.
- Existing players will read the blog post and be disappointed because the only changes will affect a new player’s experience of the game much more than a veteran one.
- So why even drip-feed this to us – the veteran players – in blog posts, under the false pretense that it’s something we should be excited about? It makes you seem extremely out of touch.
1. That’s true, though when compared to other players, I could imagine the experience would be a bit more streamlined than before.
2. Being an existing player, I think this would work okay with me as I do plan on levelling my 3rd character.
3. I don’t think that announcement is meant for just us. Keep in mind that it’s shown on the main site, meaning people who are curious about GW2 yet want to know about the game in detail, then they’d at least skim it over. At least that’s what I did when I read about the Festival of the Four Winds before I bought the game myself months ago.
I like to call it “convenience” to be honest. From what I can see, it’s more like it’s catering to new “toons” .

You are only catering to new players.
seems like a valid approach when talking about the initial part of the story.
It’s more like to new “characters” considering what the feature is for. Honestly, I thought this is quite nice.
I am looking for something that would make my Charr resemble Putress from World of Warcraft. I got the Grenth hood but I just can’t find the ideal body pieces that would resemble a robe complimenting a Charr necromancer.
In PvP, I have this tendency of being a turncoat over at the winning side because I get outnumbered very easily.
Hang on, people need help levelling?
Call it extra convenience. When I levelled my character, most of the drops I get are weapons that my class is not compatible with making the buying of the item I need in the TP the more viable option.
This was my first guild puzzle with my guild and it was a bit frustrating particularly on the part where I have to do the right emote at the right time in order to proceed. The issue I get here is the lag behind it due to my latency, which delays my input hindering progress for my guild. Is there by any chance you could make a hotfix to increase the time frame by say 3 more seconds at least?
Just to clarify something here: Do we get to craft a particular backpack PER profession?
My insight on the new Backpack designs, despite them being exclusive to China for a time is that few of them look really good in my eyes, others just seem to be very gaudy. I am thankful for more options, though the way the blogpost is worded out, it seems as if they are advertising it as something brand new (which it definitely is for EU and NA gamers)
(edited by Malkavian.4516)
From what I have read, profession loot seems like a nice feature. My main concern is the stats for said weapon drops. I’d probably get more chances getting a scepter or a staff as an Elementalist, although the issue is that chances are if I more than likely do not get the stats I am after (i.e. I want more Power but instead all I get is more Healing), then it won’t do much for me. If that is indeed the case, then at the very least I can salvage for something I can REALLY use.
I dunno about resetting hearts per se as it’s already redundant considering we got world events already.
I never played the beta so I never understood why it happened. But assuming Anet plans on getting back to it at some point, it would be smashing Divinity’s Reach through a disaster of some sort and rebuilding it from the ground up a la Lion’s Arch.
I am curious: will this feature apply to Fractals as well?
The only thing that can be close to a gamified survey is the metrics gathered based on various factors such as how many people are doing a particular part of a game from dungeons, fractals, PvP, etc. An obvious survey popping up every once in a while is just going to annoy people who in the end just want to play the game.
I think his main problem was he’s supposed to be the leader of the Pact, but doesn’t really act like it. He comes along as a peon on each mission, and a weak one at that. You get this disconnect between his position and his capabilities.
It would have been much better if he had stayed back at base (except on the two cleansing missions of course, kind of needed to be there) and the story propped up his image through simple dialogue of the successful missions he’s planned and turned the tide of the war.
To some extent the player suffers under this too. We’re commander of the Pact forces and yet we’re off on all sorts of missions that would really be more suited for people in less of a leadership role. Its sort of the Kirk Effect. Captain, yet goes along on every single dangerous away mission.
Fiction often has this difficulty because you want main characters to be important with prestigious ranks, yet you can’t just have them always out of the spotlight and away from the action. It doesn’t have to be that way for Treehearne though, he can stay back at base where a scholar belongs.
Maybe they should have made Rytlock the leader of the Pact, it would be plausible he goes off to punch things on every misison. : P
True. Though in this scenario, Trehearne has extensive knowledge about the Risen as opposed to Rytlock, being that he faced the Dragonspawn and to an extent, Kralkatorrik.
I will say this, it would have been better development for Treahearne had he developed his social skills with his new generals. On the part where he was asking the Commander to speak to the other three for feedback on Treahearne as a leader, it would be much better if we saw him directly interacting with them, which would lead to them being more than confident in him as a general. (It’s been a while since I last played the mission so chances are I may have forgotten some of the minor details)
As for my PC being Commander despite doing the same old grunt work, yeah I do agree with you there. But at the same time, it can be nice to be a part of the action as opposed to directing troops to do it for me.
Divination by numbers/numerology; that’s arithmancy in a nutshell from what I have read about it on different sources. I am a part of a RP guild that is focused on journalism and I am wondering exactly how could I tie in arithmancy in reporting the news. I sure could use some of your insight in how this could be pulled off.
Looking back at how guild messages work, it’s basically having the player check his guild screen for any updates on when they will be doing guild missions, where to meet up, etc. While it is nice, more often than not, most players who join multiple guilds would have difficulty remembering all that, which would lead to a large chunk of players forgetting about scheduled events unintentionally. Which is why I would propose a system that allows guild masters to actually have tools that basically have him pick a date, set an agenda, and a meeting place. In addition, have every guild member who is either representing or not be notified of these events similar to an organizer app you would see in smartphones and those notifications sent to them via mail or through an automatically generated message on the chat at a specific time. as a direct whisper to them. Of course, the downside to this is that notifications of this type is limited to the messaging systems in-game (chat and mail).
Any thoughts on this?
From what I have read about that post so far in terms of addressing different languages within Europe, it seems that they aren’t going to add in anything major outside of disabling the chat filtering option to only show the English speakers as they are still gathering more intel on how to pull it off.
While not the screenshot of the event itself, this is basically what I wore. I’d like my fanservice sometimes.
Oh hey, the strippers have arrived.
Caudecus’ mansion is that way >>>>
Pfft…Caudecus ain’t worthy of this piece of kitten .
I take it that character is more of an engineer who likes to make things explode. 8/10
I made an Iron Legion Necromancer named Malkav Madklaw.
As an expansion, I’d buy it.
You will never see player-usable airships. Deal with it.
Once again, go back to WoW if you want “mounts”.Inorite? What do they think this is, Archeage?
So you implying you’d rather not have actual change in your game? You’d rather make it stagnant?
In theory that would indeed improve immersion factor but if the world of Tyria to be one giant room then it would demand a ton of bandwidth just to make sure everything gets loaded. I’d also imagine that there would be constant pop up of environment stuff like trees as you walk forward or something.
