I don’t think that reason justifies the need for a first person view. If anything, the game is meant to be played in the third-person. If there is a more appropriate reason for the need of a first-person view is so that better screenshots can be made.
Seriously, guys. Just chill. I read the interview and nothing is mentioned in verbatim indicating that SAB is not going to come back. I am confident it will come back eventually. Perhaps around mid-season or near the end of the season, who knows?
Necromancers are really fun with their kitten crowd control and minions.
Your mother’s IQ is so low, she thought golems come from geodes.
When I first played MMOs, from the sub games to the F2P ones, I got bored with them when I go half-way to the level cap. World of Warcraft could have been the exception to that rule but the subscription held me back. In the case of Guild Wars 2, it’s the first MMO to not only make me want to max out my character, but go further on what else is there to do in the game from the world completions to the acquisition of enough gold to get me the stuff I need. I do get bored from this game as well, but I still come back to it whenever I feel the need for something relaxing to play.
Only one or two crashes a week so far.
I got one that’s even better: a beetle backpiece!
Think about it. It’s a backpiece that’s basically a beetle’s carapace and when you get a burst of speed through a buff the backpiece will open and have tiny wings flutter as if the wings are giving you that boost of speed.
I can’t say I am the only one who has thought of this but I assuming Arenanet is planning on making personal stories and the older living story instances replayable, here’s how they would be able to tie it in:
We have established that the asuran researcher Dessa is studying Fractals, which are basically fragments of Tyria’s past. It would be such a shame if we gather information for her and not experience the fruits of her research that’s not the loot that players have gathered. It would take place in the same area as the Fractals but it will have an interface showing which story instance would we want to play and all that. The only limitations I can think of regarding this is that it’s going to be just limited to the instances themselves and not the event quests that are part of the story like the battle of Lion’s Arch for example (unless they can make the modifications needed in order to make events like that into an instance format).
Think this could work?
When I get tired of the game’s music, I play me some Blind Guardian.
Currently 95-ish gold under my name at the moment. Makes me sad that I am just as terrible at saving money as I am in real life. XD
So far, the story bits are instance-based. The massively multiplayer elements are present in the form of Dry Top activities and the living story events presented in Episode 1 of Dragon’s Reach. Which I think is a very logical approach if you ask me. I mean, it’s going to be really hectic to have a massive group of players (unless they are your BFFs) play along side you.
I honestly like Tybalt because he makes me laugh.
Sieran, while some people don’t like her, makes me squee with how she says “cherry”.
Countess Anise due to her really enigmatic vibe
Batanga from the Order of Whispers as she also tends to make me laugh “What do we want? Free Gorr! When do we want it? Yesterday!”
Here are a few things I wish to have in this game:
1. More outfits. The Pirate and the Assassin outfits look nice, but I think we need different outfits to try. I’d suggest buying outfits that are race-specific (not armor sets/skins)
2. You know that broomstick you guys made back then. I want a mountable Dolyak, please. It can be purely cosmetic and adds no buffs at all and would be immediately removed if you want to attack or if you are being attacked
3. I would like to suggest a Boom Box that can play any music you want in 16-bit renditions. Think of the possibilities…
I for one welcome our future jungle overlord.
You definitely can as you just forward the CD key you get from buying the game to your friend.
Hi OP, while I’m generally pro mount and not against most of what you said, I do take an issue with open world housing, for a lot of reasons.
First of all the world is beautiful. It wont’ be as beautiful once people start building in it. If there are a limited number of houses, getting the one you want will be a major problem. With mega servers it’s even worse, since your house would have to be on every server. Remember, servers are created spontaneously as they’re needed So if you have a house, it has to be part of all servers. That means 25 zones, types a max of 150 players.
3750 players get houses. Less if there are no houses in Orr, which there shouldn’t be.
There’s no good way to introduce open world housing in a game with small server population caps.
I’d propose modifying the home instance making the place fully customizable, at least add in an additional building that will act as your house and just add in the doodads you want.
The more I look at it, the more I want to bash my head against a desk for not buying this game sooner. I really wish we got more Necro-themed attire.
I think you overlooked explorable dungeons and Fractals.
1. Mounts – The idea of a mount in a game is to give a lone play some companion on his adventures. You can jump with them, even bring select a different for underwater (remove those Water Speed boosters for Dwayna’s sake!). Mounts tend to run faster then Tyrias so they’d have a permanent 33% speed buff. You can have it to follow you around but it will not interact with anything. If your riding and get in combat you would automatically unmount. You can’t mount in combat. Have Race-specific mounts so there won’t be any clipping issues, position issues and whatnot.
Mounts are not in lore and would be too hard to put in – so I feel it is a NO. Also there were no mounts in GW1 either.
2. Open world housing market – have different housing lots around Tyria where you can buy your lot and enjoy the scenery. Sorry but instanced houses just don’t make it alive.
No – this is dumb. This is not ArcheAge. You already have a personal instance. If you want a house, it will be there.
3. Open world dragon encounters and destruction.
Make Dragons more Living and Destructive. What’s wrong in having a Dragon fly over e.g. Queensdale, burn a few Houses and people, peasants come and attack it and its up to you to push the dragon away. Or at least dragon minions. Just like at The Grove. The word will spread out there’s a Dragon attack happening at XX place. What is Tequatl, Claw of Jormag, etc? They are open world bosses already.
4. Open world Hunger Royale events spawning at random times and places. The word will spread out fast.
We have Open World events already – what is wrong with them?
5. Introduce all 6 God realms as 10-man dungeons/zones.
We already saw UW and FoW and DoA, but in the end we should be able to enter all 6 of the domains. The Gods left the world. Read the lore and that is why the Dragons have ascended. The Gods will come back when the Dragons are killed off
6. Living Story heading to Mursaat Lands (we got infused), Charr Homeland, Deldrimor Front, Woodland Cascades, Far Shiverpeaks, Rings of Fire.
AHH – we are fighting Dragons. Mordremorth is next. Then it sounds like the Crystal Desert will be next after that. Read and listen to the LS2 storyline.
7. Make Living Story leading to a new Continent. (Expansion)
We all want major content releases with a bunch of new skills, new weapons, higher level cap (we are getting stronger after all with ll the dragon magic releasing back to Tyria), new races and new threats. LS is cool and all but we want to feel the rush again, when starting in a new place with new plots. Dragons can’t possibly be the only thing happening in Tyria(The World).
Here’s an idea, have a LS/PS going towards Kralkatorrik and if we successfully beat him/drive him away we get an open path to Elona. IF we conquer the sea and deal with Deep Sea Dragon we got an open naval path to Shing Jea and Cantha.Kralkatorrik is in the Crystal Desert and we are going there. Cantha WILL NOT BE OPNE UNTIL THE DRAGONS ARE GONE – AGAIN LORE!!
8. Please give some love to PvPers. Give them GvG’s and Hall of Heroes. You had a huge popularity hit with these modes and they should be brought back. Alliance Battles a.k.a. sPvP stuff were more popular with PvErs when we wanted a Town for our Guild. These are some hits GW1 had and should be brought back because, if anything, bringing back popular GW1 stuff (Tormented/Chaos) also were hits in GW2.
HoH is gone because the Gods are gone. You can already PvP – so get over it.
This game is not GW1. If you want GW1 it is still there and will survive as long as GW2 is going. Nothing you have posted is reasonable or involved with the storylines that A.Net has postulated in GW2 or in the novels.
Wow, man. That’s…surprisingly rude for a response. Basically telling the guy who has really provided some solid (if not perfect) feedback and just basically telling him: “It won’t happen. Eat what’s on your plate or GTFO”
Okay, giving this a read and here are my thoughts:
Response: I won’t have a problem with mounts as long as they are purely cosmetic like the broomstick. I always wanted a Dolyak to ride on.
2. Open world housing market – have different housing lots around Tyria where you can buy your lot and enjoy the scenery. Sorry but instanced houses just don’t make it alive.
Response: That is the main problem with what is supposedly your “home” for your character. I like this idea to be honest but I’d like to wager that in reality it would mean modifying the environment completely to make that happen or providing a whole new area in Tyria that would act as the housing district.
8.* Please give some love to PvPers.
Response: I always wanted a proper guild hall for the sake of effectively socializing with other players toon-to-toon as opposed to just relying on guildchat. Makes it more social that way.
Honestly, I like the feedback you have and while I can’t guarantee this will happen overtime, I hope this at least gets taken into consideration for future updates.
Don’t take it the wrong way, but this is something that could easily be remedied if you know how to manage your budget efficiently.
I was thinking for those who don’t want to play WvW and just want to watch zergs going at it from a bird’s eye view in proper detail, I think a proper spectator mode would be very appropriate. I am quite curious though as to what would you guys think of it?
I’d like to think of armors in GW2 as more of badges of honor indicating that they did something in the game, in the case of PvP that they took part in an event and won. If more than the select few had it, then it’d just be another armor set. If anything, non-participants should get something different from the tournament participants as an indication that they were spectators there, perhaps a new armor skin.
PVP is not much active here because its SUX.All zerging. You are wrong if u think that players dont care for PVP.WE want better PVP and we wait for it.I want proper 1vs1 – 1vs2 PVPand guild wars.
You say you want proper PvP, but exactly HOW can you make it better? I am all for improvements but if you have no vision on how you want it improved, then either you won’t get what you want or what you’ll get will not be what you have in mind.
PvE gets updates every 2 weeks and you still whine. PvP hardly gets updates. Go cry elsewhere.
Which is exactly how it should be because NO ONE ACTUALLY PVP’S IN THIS GAME.
There are currently 8-10 different dry top maps FULL of players…
It takes me 10 minutes just to find 8 players to play a single sPvP match with…
The players have spoken, the devs just aren’t listening.
No one actually PvPs in this game, huh? Says who? I am not an avid PvPer, I am guaranteed to get a match when I just pick a server as opposed to just relying on the queue alone. As for players have spoken, what basis do you have?
Guild Wars and guild halls is MUST HAVE and this PVP mode need to be anti-zerg.Make more strategy based then just clicking 1 button.
Technically if you know where to zerg and ambush enemies at the right time, it’s strategy. As for clicking 1 button, I have clicked my rotations to maximize as much damage as I can contribute. While it will be more welcome to have it be more tactics based, exactly HOW would you want that to happen? I’d take into consideration the amount of frustration and grief this could cause among fellow players.
The best way to improve this is to remove it from the game and not develop silly back pieces in the future.
Sorry, it had to be said.
Or you could just ignore it altogether, man. Simple as that.
Honestly, I like the design of the Mawdrey. But the method of going about doing it just doesn’t feel right as you are practically just gathering more items just to make it better both in physical appearance and stats. Assuming that Anet makes something similar to the Mawdrey in the future, perhaps they can go with this approach: Why not make, say the equivalent of the Mysterious Vine into an Ascended/Legendary (if that is possible) item, which would require more mats to make than before and what would make it stand out is that it would change forms as more updates are released.
Beyond say WoW seeing mmorpgs on a “best of pc” list is a bit odd.
But ya this game is far from dead GW1 is a “dead” game because the makers are not adding in new content a lot of the single players games die once they are out or after the game makers is done making dlc etc.. So GW2 is still good and alive being that the game makers are still added content at the rate they are is proof enough alone.
Guild Wars is not a dead game because the servers are still active, and players are playing it.
While the game is On life support, it is not dead. A dead game had the servers turned off. City of Heroes is a dead game, Star Wars Galaxies is a dead Game… They had the servers shut down…that is dead.
As long as :
1. Servers are still up.
2. Players still play the game. The Game is not dead.
Just become ppl play it and the servers are up still dose not make the game alive. Living is growth and changes GW1 is not growing or changing any more it may still have ppl playing it but the game makers no longer add in new content for the game making it a dead game well more of a living dead game. You can make your argument for any single player game as never being dead because some one somewhere maybe playing it. In some ways you can get old mmorpgs that are no longer out there and make private worlds but this dose not mean the games are still “living.”
The life span of a game is going to be off the makers of that game and there willingness to keep adding to that game. Its not a if the lights are trued on or not deal.
Pretty much spot on..
GW1 is very much dead…it has little to no support lol… your definition of dead is fine, but to me, if the game isn’t ALIVE, than its dead, simple as that. GW1 is not alive….You believe games have to be completely shut off for them to be truely dead, and thats a fine way to go about, just realize very ppl accept that lol.EQ is dead, Runescape is dead, ofc it has a few players still playin and servers up.. but be real, if you are on life support, there’s little to no chance you are coming back to life…
See to me EQ and Runescape (as far as i know) are still getting add on to there game and there game makers are still working on them meaning though games are still alive they are just more niche then they use to be. That the major point niche games and a game being in a niche dose not make the game dead it just makes the marked for it smaller even GW1 was a niche game back in its hay-days but the game makers where adding more content to the game and updating it so it was not dead.
If you want to get down to it all mmorpg are a niche games compared to say WoW but ppl like to view it as if “if you do not have WoW numbers or your not killing WoW your game is dead” and that is about as foolish as it can get and if we expanded this point of view onto other games all games but the few high pop. games are the only ones that are living.
GW2 has a good niche its bigger then most mmorpgs but still not as big as WoW but the money is still being made by GW2 and the game makers are still putting work into the game at a high rate so when ppl say “GW2 is dead and or dieing” they are more or less making fools of them self because they are only talking about a small point of view that cant tell the full story of what going on.
I have to agree. Fact is that until WoW made it’s first expansion , the MMO genre was a Niche scene. ALL games were known to be Niche games.
it wasn’t til after WoW that developers started thinking of " appealing to mainstream and casual markets."
maybe both a blessing and a curse? There are games that do not have a lot of concurrent players that are doing fine, the player base is playing , and having fun.
What I don’t understand is, why players cannot simply enjoy the games they play without seeking to see how their game da’jour ranks with other games?
Why does it have to be pulling in players? if the game itself plays well?
and what do we care about NCSoft quarter earnings? Are we stockholders ?
what is it with all this argumentum ad populum? " look a Billion other players agree…the game is fun!"
Or on the other hand " It only had 100 players on xfire, the game sucks’?
Some people just like to look at sales ratings to validate whether or not a game is going to be popular or dying. I mean, there are other games that were less popular than GW2 and still managed to retain players (whether they be casual, hardcore or gold farmer).
I think it’s more of him voicing how the requirements needed to make the ascended are a bit too much.
I am not sure if this has been an issue for a while but when I fight say a single enemy and I got 4 minions at the ready, there are instances where only 1 of them actually fights the enemy with me while the others just don’t do anything. Just want to know if anyone has been having this problem.
While your love for the game is admirable, it’s not like you HAVE to get it. Don’t want it? do something else.
I don’t understand why people throw out this defense. It makes no sense. If you put it in perspective, everything in the game is optional. Playing video games is optional. “So if you don’t like something in a game, don’t play it.” Well, duh.
The point is that within the context of the game, the back piece feels like an excessive grind/cost compared to other items that this guy has acquired. And he is voicing that opinion.
Feedback exists because things can be improved.
Excessive, definitely, but if you want to make something really fancy for yourself, like an Ascended or Legendary piece, it should be natural that you need to work your butt off for it whether you sell the loot you make for gold, or save up the cash needed for the gems to be converted into gold. I admit the demand for crafting such a piece can be a bit of a drag, but I’d rather have it that way (perhaps toned down a little bit) as opposed to just making it easy to make.
While your love for the game is admirable, it’s not like you HAVE to get it. Don’t want it? do something else.
This is what’s called, “the lesser of two evils.” I too would love to show Phlunt the business end of my greatsword, however, he was the only member of the Asuran council willing to go to the summit. If we don’t play ball with him, we don’t get any Asuran support.
I don’t believe for second that he will give Taimi her device back. In fact, I’m quite sure he’ll even go as far as taking credit for creating it. Even with that bitter thought rattling around in my head, his involvement means we get to most technologically advanced race in our corner when we face off against the next elder dragon. Sometimes you just have to make sacrifices for the greater good. Taimi, as young as she is, came to understand that. Why do you guys have such a hard time grasping it?
I will say this though. If I had my way, I would stand exactly 1200 units away when Phlunt tells the council about the device. If he even tried so little as to claim he influenced Taimi to create her little toy, I’d shove a Spatial Surge down his throat so hard, he’d be farting ethereal butterflies for weeks!
On a more realistic side, I actually applaud Anet for putting this situation in the game instead of giving it a more rosy conclusion. It’s more realistic and fits with what we know about the Asura. It also shows that we can’t win every battle, some things can’t be solved by force and player characters aren’t god-like. Even we will enter realistic situations where the right choice isn’t the most glamorous one and we have to live with that.
I would expect such behavior of discretely taking the credit from someone of the Inquest, although Asurans in general have this natural knack of being devious (probably comes along with the territory of being intelligent).
Here’s to you getting better, Shilane.
While not the screenshot of the event itself, this is basically what I wore. I’d like my fanservice sometimes.
Here’s some of my positives:
1. Nice touch going for an Ace Attorney approach in the first episode
2. Plot so far has been pretty interesting, particularly the part with Taimi being stubborn and not willing to give up her invention only to end up with her running away and vulnerable as the Inquest take her down
3. Fantastic boss battle
4. Despite Trahearne being there, I still felt like my character is calling the shots during the summit
5. Fantastic boss battle which I felt would be much more epic if played with a party as opposed to solo (funny)
Here’s some of my negatives, or gripes rather:
1. The impact of Taimi being vulnerable was nice and all especially since Scruffy was taken out. What kind of removed the mood I had was the fact that after the quest, Scruffy practically repaired itself immediately. I'd have liked either 1) have Scruffy destroyed beyond repair or 2) have Scruffy take a while to be repaired or be given significant modifications
2. The investigation part of the episode had a timer, while does make you pick the right choice ASAP but assuming you screwed up, there are no severe consequences to be had. Like what if you failed the interrogation? Surely there are other possible options you can go for to get evidence outside of questioning.
3. Speaking of which, I still miss the one element that stood out in the Personal Story, which is choosing how you would want to approach your objective, which felt the most appropriate in the first mission of this new episode
Overall, I liked it. Not the best update I have seen thus far, but it’s really really good.
I found this quite boring. If I wanted to play a who done it type game I wouldn’t be playing this game. There is way too much reading and dialog anymore for what is supposed to be a game. Its hard enough trying to remember all the locations in the game, let alone many character names for a story.
The funny thing about RPGs is that you really have to pay attention to details rather than just being spoonfed with the information. This is honestly a really nice touch and it improves immersion.
If I recall I only died 3 times from that battle, 2 of them from cliff falling. And as for the too much going on part, isn’t that what the prompts are for and dodging accordingly?
My main character may be a human, but even she empathizes with her plight. I hope she doesn’t die. DX
well.. he will die…
at some point
probly not even during the events of gw2 though..
remember that tomorrow by this time there will probably already a new update so i highly doubt he will die tomorrow
unless anet planned this long time ago..
i dont really udnerstand all the hatred toward trahearne
sure hes not the best character but i loved scarlett whilst so many hated her as well…
why does everyone hate plants ?!?
Well, I can’t say I hate Trahearne myself. But, his character flaw of lacking proper presence as a leader which makes him a very boring leader. That being said though, I like his thoughtful attitude and he hardly ever rubbed me the wrong way all that much. As for Scarlett, I haven’t played S1 of the living story, but from what I can make up on on previous game footages on youtube, she’s way too obnoxious as a villain.
Lore-wise, Asura’s make for fine engineers AND elementalists considering they are always about building things (College of Statics), experimentation of all kinds (College of Dynamics) and all that good stuff. Though considering that there are the Peacemakers and based on how the Inquest fight, you could say that they make fine guardians, warriors AND thieves (with their size being pretty handy when doing a bit of burglary).
You never know what you are going to get in a PuG, from the nice player to the outright kitten. There are guilds for a reason, to get you with a group of people you may actually like to interact with and play the game with you.
That much is true, though how in the world could 5 level 80 people take out an Elder Dragon of that size if we are going to go up close and personal?
Here’s what I tend to do:
1. Structured PvP with a bit of WvW afterwards
2. Map completion
3. Trying out the other professions in case I get tired of my main
4. RP with friends (rarely)
5. Guild missions
6. Dailies/Monthlies
I have been thinking about the fight against Zhaitan and after a bit of talking with my guildmates about it and here’s what I thought would be awesome:
Maybe we can make an airship battle against Mordremoth but have it handled in a similar fashion as Guns of Icarus where one player would be the captain/helmsman and 2 would be either the gunner or the protector of the ship. I bet that would be pretty kitten amazing.
Well, I suppose that’s true. But there are other ways to spam 1 to win, if you know what I mean? The last thing I want is to see people kitten about how much of a let down the final boss is or how boring it is.
(edited by Malkavian.4516)
After facing off against Zhaitan, I thought his fight as very underwhelming to say the least, and as for LS season 1 from what I have seen from videos on Youtube, it seems to lack a sense of satisfaction even when doing the finishing blow against Scarlett. And it’s clear that we will fight Mordremoth sometime and I really wish that Anet would at least make this fight one as epic as possible. From my experience with Tequatl, I thought his boss fight was amazing out of all the other world bosses: having a certain set of people take him out head on while the others can support the assault force. Perhaps if we can have something like that but on a larger scale and with variety, that would be the right way to slay the dragon.
(edited by Malkavian.4516)
Absolutely, Shilane.
