My concern is people will find it an easy (and untraceable) form of griefing. Just fill up a server to do whatever then do not do the major event (like a boss), thereby limiting the number of people who can get to it.
Yeah, I think they’re doing this right. We can expect a big influx of players, but that’s a good thing.
No.
It will stop being a good thing the moment a FTP person realizes they can fill a map where people are about to do a boss then not do it. The TP problem is obvious, Bots …. yeah, get back to me when someone invents the perfect spam filter, ’kay?
Can we get the list of items they will have access to on the TP?
I have read it. It does not say what items. If anything on that list can be harvested, crafted, salvaged, or bought they have basically crashed the TP for that item. About the only way they could do that is to declare the TP totally off-limits to FTP players for selling anything.
Well, you were good while you lasted.
How about getting a numeric keypad and mapping the keys to the commands you will need then setting the keyboard aside?
Well, I suppose you could always call up a virtual keyboard and peck out the message one character at a time. That would be slow though and you would have time to think about what you are saying.
All of my names are based on Finnish words. Usually based on a description, like Lyhyt Insinööri meaning ‘short engineer’ for my asura engineer. Right now I am leveling a necro who would be Jory if she were an asura, so have named her ‘Tutkija Helmi’ (investigator pearl, as pearl is the derivation of the name Marjorie). My norn warrior is dressed in blue and white (yes, that includes the white wings) and is Valtava Soturi.
Since some Finns were vikings it fits to have a norn’s name based that way. Although it was a happy accident as it is the naming convention I use for all my characters.
Thanks for spoiling it for us ign. I guess I know who NOT to get my gaming news from now as every game maker now knows you do not know the definition of ‘embargo’.
I hate how people like you pretent you dont look at spoiler feature reveals from That_Shaman….but when ign do it all hell breaks loose
Actually, I do not. TYVM. Or if you want to get technical I do not seek him out. The only time I even look at his pages is when someone else here has spoiled it and given a link to the article.
FTP = so much for farming as everyone will now do it w/out even buying the game and crash TP prices …. please anet, issue restrictions like no email/guild/tp for free users
I love my ranger. She is only second to my warrior when it comes to survivability when in a bad situation. Even with a bad ai pets are useful – they distract enemy AIs and if you see their health go down you know there is something big and bad behind you to be aware of.
For weapons I use the same exact set as my warrior: greatsword and longbow. When running up to something she can at least do SOME damage as soon as she gets in longbow range. Then when at melee swap to the GS (unless that is not an option, like with some bosses).
Read our lips anet: character slots.
Any slots we got from buying HOT in the presale have long since been used.
credit card farm
It’s true, the most efficient path is to get a side job and turn all the money from that into gems for gold.
Barring that, look into the “Iron Run”. A series of gathering nodes you can run through for massive quantities of ore and the such.
Yes, even a minimum wage job will net you around 75 gold/hr (subject to current exchange rates and minimum wage in your state). Look at it as a time trade-off, would you rather spend all your game time actually gaming or just doing mindless farming?
Teq was much better awhile back before they got rid of skill points. I quite regularly got 3-pt skill scrolls and now no shards to make up for their loss. A lot of people also got the Teq mini, just look around at the next event, but I have only got one since then despite doing Teq daily. Before the nerf I also got an ascended weapons chest (!!!) but have yet to see it happen again and you almost never hear someone saying they got one now.
I know I can get more gold/hr by mindlessly farming. I prefer to just do what I would normally do and stress getting mats to sell on the TP.
Thanks for spoiling it for us ign. I guess I know who NOT to get my gaming news from now as every game maker now knows you do not know the definition of ‘embargo’.
Yes, I am collecting skins. But I am also generating exotics for my future 80s.
Buying it would be an option but it would be an annoying one. I have plenty of ancient wood and ori. Mystic coins I have coming out of my ears. It would seem silly to just buy the item simply for lack of a single mat.
How is being short on spirit shards a good thing? It is not like they are taking up inventory in your bank, they go to your wallet.
Because you for some reason are rich. And you don’t farm. Tell me which farm generate money faster than spirit shards.
you make even slower gold from eotm, silverwaste, world boss, orr. For dungeon you probably break even.
If it is a cheap exotic that use eldrich scroll, just buy it directly. You won’t save much money anyway. Only use your skill points on expensive exotic, those are the ones you’ll save some money.
I am not sure how the beginning of what you said relates to what I said? No, I am not rich and yes, I do farm. Sure, I could just sell the mats needed and buy the mystic weapons, but that would only take care of getting skins and adding to my stockpile of exotics (I have my characters out to #15 all planned out so working out what weapons I need is just a matter of looking up those professions). However after I get all of the mystic weapons my plan was to make then sell them.
I really feel for you but my advice would be to have someone change all of the passwords to your games and not tell you the new ones unless certain conditions were met.
I know that sounds rough so why would I suggest it? It is because so much in games is controlled by random (and near-random) factors that it is impossible for a game not to have them. If you take away the gaming aspect to a game what are you left with? For example, say you blocked all obvious methods of gambling … someone who wanted to gamble could play the trading post like a stock market.
As to crafting a legendary, do you have someone there who could work with you in person? Only they would know the password and watch you closely. If they had to leave your computer desk they could make sure you were logged off first.

So staff looks like it fit perfectly with the Thief. Can’t wait to try out Daredevil!
Now we just need a collapsible one!
We have a keybind to go to character selection now? THANK YOU!!!!! I can not count the number of times my spouse has came up behind me and demanded immediate attention when I was in a place where it would be uber bad to afk in. The amount of times I have wished for the MMO equivalent of a boss key …
I got it starting yesterday as well. Annoying that some monster will have a fraction of a second to hit me and I can not even see them yet.

Plus the dagger. Looking at it in the wardrobe it is like a moving snake too. No sign of Braham’s skins though.
I do not create legendaries but I still need them to do anything with the MF that wants Eldrich Scrolls (which uses 50 spirit shards). A good example is mystical weapons.
Yes, compare it to a couple hundred scrolls in the bank several times from mainly pve before I eventually decided to split them between characters and use up the pile. From monitoring my wallet (no, I do not have exact numbers) when I have worked out how long it would take me to get to a, oh, eldrich scroll doing dailies I was right on the money.
That is interesting. Maybe they made light a pattern, heavy a mesh and who-knows-what for medium (maybe something like a scuptie ala second life)? Still though, I can not think of why those processes should be incompatible, even if the join parts were at different points.
thief and warrior are mobile in every game mode.
Yesterday my warrior was passed by two characters running to KQ. They might have been thieves but if not I had to wonder how they did it. I will check my traits as I changed them up the other day, I thought I kept the one for speed though.
The pirate outfit is very medium armor looking. and works with all characters.
Another use for it is to actually give a medium-armor character something that is not another coat.
I would LOVE for every armor class to be able to use any armor skin I have unlocked for that part on the body. We already have that for weapons.
Ah, so it would not matter what skin I used? I am debating using them with a character that will be Marjory if she were an asura.
Does anyone know if this was changed? I bought both of them yesterday after liking how they looked when I previewed them in my wardrobe but it does not show any animations from using it.
Was it removed? I used it to preview it.
Depends on where you wanna be mobile… I mean I find mesmer having most problems with Swiftness but they have alot of Stunbreaks and Blinks wich let’s mesmers being on the move pretty much.
Signet of Inspiration.
Sure, in is only every 10 seconds you get a boost for a few seconds, but it averages out pretty well. Especially since when covered in superior speed runes/sigils you can extend it for the full 10 seconds just by killing things (so it does not technically stack but you keep going).
I am slowly seeing more of them. I was curious for three reasons, neither of which have anything to do with ascetics.
1) When the black ones (and I think these?) were available before practically everyone was wearing them. Even though many people missed them by not logging in or checking the store that day.
2) There are always people asking for white or black wings here.
3) It is not the length of time on sale, I still see lots of dragonn minis from 2 factor identification signups.
I do agree they do not fit all characters though. On many of my characters they would look downright silly. I can only think of my human and my norn, but the human is going for an exact look (the Sya NPC). The norn is going for a more valkyrie one and is wearing blue and white. So she is the only one of my menagerie that can pull them off.
Not quoted since the word before ‘game’ is a pretty obvious attempt the get around the censor. Some answers though:
1) how do you get them as login rewards? they are not on the wiki
2) the question was how to get them without doing dailies
3) while they are not in inventory they go into your wallet the same way scrolls do … in a line on the right side of your screen … I could buy not seeing it after a boss when a lot of things are coming in but not after a mob when there are only a few items so I see what is there more
4) i do play the kitty-cat game … at least 50 hours per week
5) as was also pointed out earlier, ppl are looking for a method in OPEN PVE
In addition to what seems like a drop-off in single point ones (I have only seen one from a mob ever) things that used to give 3-point scrolls often/always (like Teq) do not seem to be dropping any shards now.
In addition, while my 1-point scrolls in the bank got converted my 3-point ones did not.
From what Anet said, it seems like anything that originally dropped scrolls of knowledge will now drop spirit shards instead. I got some from dailies Wednesday. Can still find them in champ bags,I believe. Also, using a tome of knowledge on a lvl 80 character will award one.
That has not been my observation. Teq gave a lot of scrolls before (3 pointers if I recall right) but I do the reset one every day and have not noticed getting any spirit shards now. Occasionally (like once) I will get one from RNG somewhere as a drop, but nowhere near the rate that I used to get scrolls from.
Oddly, when they changed my 1-point scrolls in the bank they did not change the 3-pt ones. Maybe they messed up on the 3-pointers and now the things that dropped 3-pointers do not drop any shards at all?
Has anyone else noticed this with Teq? I am going to start keeping track of before/after of my shard count as you get a lot of loot at once.

The PvE maps aren’t server specific anymore. The game has megaservers now and all the servers are folded together into a few map copies (shards) per map. What you can do is type /ip in chat to get the ip number of the shard you’re on and guest to another server then do /ip again to see if the shard is different.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-megaserver-system/
That brings up and interesting question. Is there a good way to get to a different copy of the same map? Not a different server as we knew them before megaservers, but a different shard. All I have been able to do is leave the shard for elsewhere (easiest is to hop into wvw and back) and hoping. There are plenty of cases to do this: finding a teq beach not covered in fish heads, a more advanced sw/dt map, finding an open temple, and so on.
Not to a specific shard. but just to any different one. Outside of already being in a party elsewhere that is. Just rolling the dice and seeing what you get. Of course, to a specific shard would also work, but I am not sure you would know what one you wanted.
[btw, this thread should prob be in bugs]
Let me guess, everything just stopped then everything took place quickly? It did not act like a graphics issue, it looks like a server hiccup then catching up on processing. It used to happen to my ele at teq often. The other day I thought it was happening to my mesmer when she was there but it was so short I was not sure. I am wondering if there is a resource being maxed in their server cluster when many people are at the same place?
Another odd thing myself and others have noticed: occasionally our movements will act like someone is holding down the key to turn. You will go forward if you are pressing the key to do so but as soon as you let go it is turn city again. It is not auto either as I tried toggling that. We have been unable to consistently replicate it but that could come down to something simple like a keyboard issue. Which may actually be the case since it occasionally happens in Second Life as well.
Mini now!!!!!
Whether people hate them or not on others was not what I asked, read the OP again. It comes down to 2 observations if people will not do so:
1) when black wings were introduced they were everywhere
2) people have been asking for white wings on the forums ever since
So again, given (1) and (2) why did we see lots of the black wings right after release but almost no white ones?
Some things stay and others do not. A few weeks ago almost everyone was sporting the dragon from 2-factor authentication, now few are. Maybe because it was the dragon was free?
Yes, if it were only people wearing them the one day that would fit. What made it perplexing was so many people asking for them. Not that I mind being pretty much unique.
What is frustrating in general is they (and almost all back items to be honest) clip with many stowed weapons. My preferred ones are all stowed back there so it is a constant annoyance to always see clipping front and center on my screen. Unlike with most backpacks I can just think of the wings as moving out of their way because steel/wood is a bit more tough than feathers pushed into skin.
Not that I am complaining! Just after how many people wore the black wings the day they were released (and were constantly asking for black and/or white ones) it was a bit odd that the white ones were not more popular. So far I have seen one of my characters (who looks like a Valkyrie plus it went with the blue/white color scheme I wanted) and a friend who said her dungeon party all had them on. I think I spotted one person in the distance who had them too but that was it.
It is nice, like most I could not STAND almost everyone wearing the black wings during boss fights. I also hope it is a 24-hour thing so that does not happen again. It was just odd.
My guardian dies practically everywhere. My warrior on the other hand is probably my most durable characters in PVE, although probably neck-in-neck with my ranger in some cases.
Let me give you an example. We have as armor skins a monocle and a top hat. Neither matches any armor set in the game. However, they would look wonderful with the tuxedo outfits. In fact one could argue that those skins were actually made for those outfits considering how well they match up.
Another good example would be able to wear the cargo shorts which are now a clothing tonic with the Jungle Explorer outfit to give a sort of Lara Croft style look.
Add to that the eyepatch and the pirate outfit. Extra credit for allowing us to wear the pirate hat AND the eyepatch. You can customize your look with weapons but that is about it.
I am not sure why there are so many outfits out there as I do not see them often (except for special events). Still though, who wants to risk looking like everyone else?
Some outfits lend themselves to a common look, again like the pirate,. Still though, they should allow for individual variations of a common theme somehow as that is what you would encounter normally.
Yes, I know they have NPCs that show GLBT people exist in Tyria. What I was getting at is a way anet could satisfy everyone and still make money out of people shelling out cash for a wedding. When there is an outfit with such a huge difference between the genders offer two versions: the one they had planned to sell and one with the gender indicator on it flipped. This would be most noticeable with wedding clothes as people do not mind splurging a little extra on things that day.
Remember, it would not be just the people who want non-typical wedding clothing. For every item in the game there is someone that tries to get every one of them. Not to mention some people will buy the flipped item just because it looks different.
(edited by Menadena.7482)
That was a question I had as well. Both my partner and myself wore pantsuits at our wedding and there was never any question of doing otherwise. With marriage equality being the law of the land where anet exists (and a few other countries as well) you would think they would assume there just MIGHT be some same sex weddings.
What I do wonder about tho is that since warrior is the class that has access to the most of the weapons. What will they do when they run out of weapons to give to warriors for elite specs when they will still be giving the other classes what they don’t have yet? Maybe then will be when they start rolling in new weapons.
Maybe they will come up with unique ways of using the existing weapons?
For example, we have a sword and a greatsword. We do not have a hand-and-a-half sword (pretty much a weapon that can be either). Maybe not the best example as you could always do a GS/S&whatever combo, but you get the idea. What if traditionally 2-handed weapons (like rifles) would still be two-handed if you equip as normal but 1-handed (with reduced effectiveness) if you use off-hand for them?
Bummer. Reading the thread it looks like it is a character birthday rather than the game birthday we are currently celebrating? Hopefully it stays as the 3rd birthday gift rather than a limited-time-only gift then.
I’m actually pretty happy about the Teleport to Friends. I have several characters that were leveled to 80 mostly through tomes, and the teleport lets me get a waypoint down in Orr when the farthest south they’ve been is Lion’s Arch.
Yes, that is a GREAT use for it. Right now it is 50/50 if you can make it from Ft Trinity to the pact waypoint without dying unless you go with one of the invasion forces. I can log on my alt account via a laptop and park there then have my new characters teleport to her and get the WP.
