This is a great video someone showed me once about the difference between extrinsic and intrinsic rewards playing video games.
Author did a mistake there… In WoW your grinding not to just get the items but to get items powerful enough to overcome next challenge. What’s wrong with that?!
wait.. are you being sarcastic? like.. you really can’t see the problem of grinding for something so that you can unlock grinding for something? You can’t see what’s wrong with that concept, like you can’t grasp that?
With cosmetics I see the exact opposite of what you said. When I get a cosmetic item I am rewarded ever time I see it. I enjoy it simply being there, jsut like any piece of art. The fact that my character looks the way I want is more enjoyable than changing how high my stats are. With stats I only enjoy them when something that was IMPOSSIBLE becomes possible. And even then the reward of beating that something is only to open the gate to the next something that is impossible. There is no end to itself. With cosmetics the end is simply seeing & enjoying the art. Overcoming a challenge can also give a rewarding feeling but if it’s all based around your numbers being high enough, then you didn’t really overcome it did you? Your numbers did. It’s not much of a triumph.
Thats still a grind though…. what dont you understand.
Legendary weapons have got to be the biggest grind I have ever seen in a mmo to date to be perfectly honest.
Spvp and ranks are a grind!
Crafting is a grind!
Events are a repeat GRIND!
Fractals are a GRIND
Every other dungeon in this game IS A GRIND FOR TOKENS!
Dailies ARE A GRIND!
Throwing a fit over a gear grind doesn’t make much sense when 95% of the game is already a grind lol.
Fact is most of my friends that dont really play much say they would play more if there was something legit to work towards.
My guild quit after 3 months of WvW saying " well its fun but its very stale theres nothing to work towards and we keep playing the same 2 servers lol" Granted now there is WvW progression, again another grind, same with pve ranks.
Point is that anything can be viewed as a grind. And many many things in game are a grind… they are just for different things not gear.

Overcoming a challenge is a very rewarding feeling when you are rewarded something special for doing it.
However name one challenge in this game that rewards you with something equal to its worth, that is not attached to a grind.
And overcoming a challenge with new gear with bigger numbers is still rewarding, because its still challenging regardless. It however gives the player a sense of worth and satisfaction for the work hes put in, work that is equal to his reward.
You are tying trinity gear mechanics to an action combat game. You can run any dungeon pretty much naked, so if they added gear progression well guess what its still based on your skill as a player to complete it gear or no gear. Stop comparing trinity mechanics to GW2.

So I started an Arah party for path 2 and we were at the abomination boss, haven’t started the fight yet.
This one mesmer couldn’t make the run from the wp past all the mobs. She kept going straight for the cliff from the tunnel, instead of hugging the north wall which is safer. She failed like…3 times, after which everyone agreed to start the fight with 4.
In the middle of combat, she said
“Did you really just get into combat?” because apparently she had died again and couldn’t wp.
So I replied “Did you really just ask that question?”
“Yes.”
“Then yes. we did”
“I could just leave, if that makes you happier”that’s how the conversation went and apparently the ignorant person got really kitten off at me. Long story short, she proceeded to kick me at lupicus and apparently had a friend who agreed.
Bottom line is, I didn’t do anything wrong other than make that one comment. And that’s really all it takes for someone to get kicked. Hell, it doesn’t even matter what you do if someone has a friend who wants to troll, he can kick anyone for no reason at all.
Why is only 2 out of 4 votes required to kick someone out? ANet, do you realize how much time I’ve wasted getting kicked for stupid reasons? And I can’t even do anything about it. The kicker just blocks me, and I can’t report for abuse.
You were being a kitten plain and simple.
You joined the dungeon as a team, then because you were in a rush and didn’t bother showing her the right way to do it decided to cut her out of the experience and loot and discard her from game play by entering combat…..
You got some karma there because they decided you were being a tool and dropped you from group discarding you from loot and the experience.
Want respect? Want people to not vote kick you? Try treating them how you would want to be treated. I am sure if you couldn’t make the short cut and your team ditched you and left you dead while they do the dungeon you would be irritated as well.

I would imagine you can see your rank even if you were like 26, 325.
Would kinda be lame if it only showed the top 100 players, so you wouldnt know if you were ranked 101 or some other number much higher.
I agree they took out challenging veritcal progression and replaced it with meaningless grind.
Ya theres no gear grind…. but you grind grind grind for everything else and to top it off there is no challenge lol.
At least in other games with lots of grind there was a new dungeon or raid that you had to over come in your grind, in GW2 its just okay this month your gonna grind this area…. same stuff over and over and over.
You should see the guys that exploited the repeatable achievement points to get 20k+

Sorry, I used to love this game, though it briliant in beta, played it at lauch and got my mesmer up to 80, then had to stop playing.
Tried to get back into it over the last few days….and its an awful experience.
I know some of you dont like to hear it, and i know you get defensive, thats understandable.
But telling me to go do other things like Wauwi has is not helpful at all. its basically saying that yes there is a massive issue, but just stick your head in the sand and ignore it.
Anyway, my feedback was for Anet really.
People don’t spend time leveling now. They are in specific zones for maximum event exp foot hills for example…. then they are crafting to 80 because they have the gold to.
But there are always people event hunting in queensdale….. maybe its your server though..
LA is populated because its really the central hub of everything in the game… this includes story line, Fractals, and everything else….
They could add racial benefits to being in your home city though.
Like if you hang out in the grove you get some benefit based on the time spent there.
Or 10% more crafting critical, or 10% return when you use the TP there, cheaper TP list pricing from your home town….. theres alot they could do.
But then the city’s might all be dead anyways because then the player base is so spread out over the races that not only is LA dead but so are the city’s lol.

Yes, because networking technicians don’t know about trojans, key loggers, script vulnerabilities and virus’ and wouldn’t think to check their own PC.
The problem with arenanet and it’s fanboys is they’re far too fast to blame the user and unwilling to look at themselves. Everyone who’s ever had a security issue in GW2 is the one at fault, it couldn’t possibly be on arenanet’s end; big companies never get hacked right? /sarcasm
Then you should also know that the likely hood of you being hacked twice using a new email and password and all that out of millions is very unlikely…. and a bit foolhardy to claim their database is compromised…. if that was the case then many many more people would be being hacked to the point where it would become public. However that is not the case.

I tried to use a password that I’ve never used before, not on GW2, not anywhere, it had 20 characters and my e-mail is used ONLY for GW2. (9 quadrillion years to crack!)

Its possible that someone else had used the password before on some forum somewhere that got hacked or whatever, and that password ended up on one of the password lists that the hackers spread, which ANET probably picked up on, and in order for account thieves to not simply go through the list (assuming they knew your email adress and wanted to steal your account)
Impossible since GW2 has it’s own entirely unique e-mail address I have used nowhere else online. One of my friends (Who I know and trust) had his account hacked early on in GW2 and he had very robust security precautions – obviously they blamed him for having weak security.
So I implemented extreme security measures (unique e-mail, unique password, extreme strength password); and twice now my account appears to have been compromised. So, either gmail is both compromised and has someone using that data to datamine for GW2, or arenanet’s security is compromised.
Or your system is compromised…. didn’t think of that did you, much easier to blame the company rather than your own ignorance thats understandable.

It would have to modify the UI files themselves or at the least redirect the client to the combat mode files, either way that would be modifying some gw2 files.

I will look into it, but untill Anet responds to this post officially i wouldnt try it. The level of moderation on these forums makes me think they are the throw the book at you lock you up and throw away the key type of comany. I wouldnt want to have to deal with them about a banning issue.

They cant officially approve it for many reasons as stated in their response…. but they also say they are not going to ban you for the use of programs that are not giving you an advantage. Basically if its not modifying the game directly, automating it, or giving you some other advantage that other players cant get unless using the program they are likely not going to ban it. Its also menchoned they are are aware of other programs that do other things that they dont ban for because they meet that specific criteria.
Trust me if they banned for it there would be hardly anyone play gw2 lol…. just about everyone I know uses it now days, and like said above your seeing it in more and more youtube videos and on streams.
Pretty common place now.
On that note you would have thought GW2 would have came with a setup like this already…. who makes a action combat game with traditional mmo targeting lol…..

This is a very interesting question, and I appreciate hearing your thoughts.
As you are aware, we cannot approve or review or “vet” any third-party program; that is a given. However, our position is somewhat different than the one expressed in the GM response, so I’ve already contacted the team to be sure that everyone is on the same page.
Our general statement is that anything that gives advantage is forbidden. There are many utilities that help the player without taking a hit on others, without, for instance, being a detriment to the other players in a match. TexMod is one example of a program that doesn’t really give anyone an advantage over someone else. I’ve heard about certain programs that help disabled players, and those seem just fine, too. And of course there are others. We can’t say “Sure, use this and that and that other thing” because that’s tantamount to “approval,” but we do recognize the distinction between advantage-giving programs and those that simply make it easier to play the game under specific circumstances.
Thanks for pointing out that response. We’ll get things clarified so that future responses are consistent with our policies.
I think it’s ok to share this. I just want to be very clear that:
(1) we don’t review or approve programs, and
(2) programs can sometimes contain components that a legitimate player doesn’t realize is a cheat element
In the end, it’s good to go VERY cautiously with the use of any third-party program, but we appreciate that there are definitely situations when a helpful, non-advantage-giving program is extremely beneficial to players.

Today! We have them multiple times per week. I may not bring up all of the issues from the list since there are a bunch of other class things to discuss, but I’ll seed the list details multiple times throughout the coming meetings to keep it on everyone’s mind, and spend some time this weekend coming up with proposals and such so I can better guide the conversation.
I alpha and beta test 3d software for major companies, and when working in alpha sometimes in order to get a feature or adjustment to an existing feature I really have to sit down with the devs and be like look this doesn’t work because of this and this, then offer a solution on how to make it work and how other render engines have it implemented or different modeling solutions for poly tools etc etc. So I know its not as simple as here’s my list fix this stuff now please.

Oh, and in regards to the Jade Maw targeting pets, I made the conscious decision to allow it to target non-players. I have the ability to change that, but I prefer not to on the grounds that there is some gameplay there. My pet has made the ultimate sacrifice quite a few times while we res’d a down party members, providing groups with a much needed window to help others up and recover. I know it can be a bit frustrating if everything is going great and you’re not having any problems, but I’d much rather the pet provide a moment of relief for those struggling. I am open to debate on the subject, but that is for threads over in the dungeon forum, not here
I too like it when Jade Maw targets a pet when we’re in trouble, but find it annoying when we’re not in trouble. I, again, think that this is another example where a permanent stow is required. If it doesn’t go well, leave the pet out, if it’s going smooth, stow the pet permanently.
There are so many situations where a permanent stow would be perfect. I’m not talking about giving the ranger a buff for stowing the pet.
Yes you want rangers to use the pet and they will, but sometimes they need to be put away at the player’s own discression. “Avoid Combat” should make stow permanent, while “Guard” should leave stow as it works now (but neither should react to falling damage)

Again you know that killing tenticals kills the boss not just crystals….. and it does it at about the same rate.
Oh, by the way, make the Jade Maw stop attacking pets, turrets, and minions.
Last night we were doing FotM and we had a ranger. 75% of the time the Maw would target the pet instead of the players.We actually saw it target a defeated pet 6 times in a row.
Good then dps the tentacles you do just about the same damage as throwing crystals, you know that right?
All I want is a pet that picks up all the loot bags. Don’t really use pet since Guard got nerfed.

Oh and pets shouldn’t be auto unstowed if you attack something or take damage. If you stow the pet it should stay stowed till you unstow it perhaps that could be in the options menu ya?
Pets shouldn’t be affect by agony… or they should recieve the agony that the ranger has if the ranger has 30 resistance then the pet should have 30 agony resistance…. its ignorant to add a mechanic like agony and a resistance but not carry it over to what is supposed to be 50% of a professions DPS. BAD DESIGNERS BAD!
Again carrying over to pets most boss’s are very AOE heavy…. why make pets weak against a main mechanic that is easily avoided by the ranger? Poor design forethought again… hey guys lets make pets be a main stay of ranger dps, but if they get hit by AOE or Agony they are 1 shot…. Ya sounds good… then lets give them a fatty cooldown if the pet dies lol.
Talk about gimping a profession by design literally.
And then not talking about pets for a second wtf was the dev team smoking when they decided a ranger has to be flanking or behind a target to bleed…. yet every other profession can bleed from any angle lol….. last I check an arrow shooting through your gut and out the other side is gonna make someone bleed regardless of if it was from the front or back /facepalm….
Get it together and stop adding kitten mechanics to professions/bosses just for the sake of adding them. Flanking/and behind bleeding… what purpose was that suppose to serve?
But if the events are being done by 20+, 30+ players, the zerg just detroys all the fun and challenge in ANY event. Bosses HP will drop down in less than 5 minutes without even attempting to play with the event’s mechanics.

And what you are describing there is the exact scenario I have seen since the patch. You run in, stomp the boss, move on to the next. And I actually think I would feel that added difficulty or some kind of anti-zerg code would help my case a lot. If people are guaranteed a rare drop, I at least want them, and myself for that sake to have earned it.

But instead of making things more expensive and less rewarding for people that really weren’t getting rares that much before the patch you should have made a post detailing that DE scaling sucks sack in the face of the zerg and the mechanics as well….
90% of the boss’s for DE’s you can just stand in one spot spamming 1 lol. Theres no chance you will die. Theres no challenge and the boss is downed in 5 minutes or less and you collect your freebie loot.

There have been thousands upon thousands of complaints on loot, some people were getting amazing drops multiple rares per run in dungeons over and over again while others got jack…. now everyone is getting decent loot.
And its going to stay that way because thats what the community asked for.
Your also forgetting that world chests can only be looted once per day per character so with the increase of chest loot came a nerf on how many times you can loot the chest.
So if someone just farmed each world boss off cd they would actually end up with more loot granted it is just blues with some greens, which they said was lower than intended btw. But now you can do each boss once a day and get a rare or better for sure and thats that. I fail to see the connection between the term RARE and your logic. Because technically exotics are rare and they still are.
That is plain false. You do not farm for days and not see a rare. I never used magic find, and while not a given I would get a rare at least every other run through a dungeon. And I did all dungeons, and some of them several times. I’d be very impressed if you legitimately can say you farmed a dungeon for days to never see a rare. And come on, exotics were not non-existant. But it is also the rarest lootable gear. If they dropped like rares did, we might as well have the GW1 state of weapon looting. It wasn’t even like the BLTP prices for exotics were bad. Most of the exotics I looted, I could sell for ~2g. You could equip a character in all rare gear for around 2g as well. (I’m not talking precursors here however!) Those numbers should represent the “rarity” of gear. If I can fully equip my character for ~2g in rares or ~15g in full exotic, I can’t see the gear being non-existant. In fact it would seem that some players found it very obtainable, since the price isn’t higher.
That some get “jack” in dungeons, while some get a lot, I dont really find relevant. One aspect is Magic Find. Another is that people are good at making it sound worse. Another thing is RNG. But that doesn’t explain to me while you should have a guaranteed rare for a 5 minute event; It could justify making a rare guaranteed for completing a dungeon which at least takes half an hour for normal people.
Not sure what i need your statement for, that it isn’t going to change. That is kind of arrogant to be honest; you are not the developer, but I shouldn’t need to spell that out. I have no reason not to try. The community is often represented by those who are unsatisfied. It is not you anymore, congratulations. That doesn’t mean there isn’t another subset of the community who can ask for something that contradicts the previously unsatisfied part of the community.
-No I’m not forgetting that you can’t loot more than once. But I don’t see how that is a nerf? Let’s go with the easy to farm bosses and a standard account; 6 bosses, 5 characters. That is at least 30 rares per day. Do you even want to farm any more after that?
I don’t see how the logic behind the gear is difficult, a rare should be rare, but a rare isn’t rare. If it is something you expect to see everytime you hit F on a chest, I’d say it is quite common.
Good for you getting a rare every other run…. Try running 5 fractals in a row and not getting a single rare while everyone else is linking rares left and right. That just solidifies why this change was made as well. Did you even read my post? Because I stated some people got rares alot more often than others. I could go for days and not get a rare. Now I am guaranteed one just by joining in on world events….. I fail to see how that is a bad thing…. it equalizes things and drives the economy into a more affordable line vs one where prices were inflated due to things that are commonly needed at level 80 but aren’t common in their drop rate.
There were plenty of reports of people that would get nothing but blues and greens in their runs while friends were getting rares every run. I am sorry but just because your experience is different doesn’t mean its fact. Nor does my experience equal fact. But many reported what I just told you, so either we are all lieing or you just weren’t as unlucky as other players were.
Its really that simple.
Don’t forget the loud people not always represent the majority. But don’t get me wrong, I welcome that they listen to the community. But this patch were over the edge in my opinion. I can live with things not being as before where you would get a rare ~half the time, but it certainly is some change from 50% chance for a rare to 100% + 50% for an additional rare, if not an exotic. I might have been lucky, but I’d guess around 1½ rare per boss at the moment. That’s a 200% increase in drops.
I’m not complaining how “good” it has become because I don’t feel that spending 5 minutes (for example Maw event) to earn 1½ rare isn’t good in my opinion. It is too much.

And when items require 250 to 500 ectos for an upgrade….. well 30s a pop…. and the fact that rares were dropping very rarely…. well you do the math. Thats 77 gold for 250….
Thats a huge expense for a item that is needed in pretty much EVERYTHING endgame and it can only be gained from rare or better items…. which were dropping very inconsistently and not inline with craft costs for items.

Its like the game trys to be a holy trinity setup but then says they aren’t.
There are 3 things people do in this game.
Full dps = zerker gear and full dps trait lines
Full defensive = bunker…. fancy name for ima tank (mobs even aggro to the highest toughness)
Full Support = buffs/heals/support boons etc etc.Sorry if im a bit slow but thats the trinity right there. And you are pretty much limited in this game to doing one of those, there is very little room for hybrid builds because of the way the traits are setup. Traits are currently setup so that you basically need to go down 30 points in many trait lines for a skill… and those trait lines themselves are geared towards the holy trinity…. 2 dps lines, 2 tank lines, 2 support lines.
And many viable builds REQUIRE you to take the traits just because they are must haves…..
Just some food for thought

In GW2 you can semi set your toon up to do any of the dps tanky or healing but not in a full spec, they will not and cannot generate enough threat to keep aggro and there is not any direct healing only indirect; therefore it is not a trinity … You must rememeber…
Dps does only that dps nothing more… high damage output…
Tank does only that…generates threat to keep aggro of the mobs.. They tend to not do a lot of damage(Dps job) and has to depend on direct healing from the healers to heal them..
Healers… if in healing spec… does only that… heal
So there is no trinity in GW2.
But thats not true.
Its been proven that the higher toughness the higher threat you have…. ever seen a tanky necro grab a champ or boss and it not budge from them? Same with a guard or warrior sporting high armor high toughness…. the game is setup to target them first on the threat table. So if its not meant to be like that why does it behave like that.
Then say the low toughness low armor glass cannons are just that…. DPS.
While they nerfed healing I cant really say anything about that as every class can sustain themselves for the most part.
What I was talking about was the fact that the trees are setup like a there was a trinity…. when there is not and I find that to be rather limiting in choices….. and this has been admitted by Anet.
Pies didn’t make Hundred Blades the best heal in the game.
It just allowed you to survive the random mob cleave and complete the attack, lol!
‘Best heal in the game’ doesn’t have to mean ‘makes you unkillable’.
Name a heal that could get you as much HP as Omnomberry pies could WHILE doing as much damage as Hundred Blades….

Anyway, you’re missing the point here: Omnom Pies didn’t allow you to heal like a healing ability. What they did was allowing you to endure random cleave damage from surrounding mobs as Hundred Blades rooted you to the ground for several seconds.
You run up to dreg you HB each hit crits on the 5 mobs in front of you….. Pretty sure the healing your getting is vastly higher than any other heal in the game and your pumping out 20k+ damage to multiple mobs lol….
Whoa whoa, Don’t attack me I’m not saying the game needs a trinity setup I’m saying, it pulls you into those 3 area’s and I think its rather bland…. like no thought was put into going beyond the trinity…. sure you dont need it to do content… but it is still there and is a overriding force for most professions and viable builds…. im not denying that there isn’t balanced builds.

Its like the game trys to be a holy trinity setup but then says they aren’t.
There are 3 things people do in this game.
Full dps = zerker gear and full dps trait lines
Full defensive = bunker…. fancy name for ima tank (mobs even aggro to the highest toughness)
Full Support = buffs/heals/support boons etc etc.
Sorry if im a bit slow but thats the trinity right there. And you are pretty much limited in this game to doing one of those, there is very little room for hybrid builds because of the way the traits are setup. Traits are currently setup so that you basically need to go down 30 points in many trait lines for a skill… and those trait lines themselves are geared towards the holy trinity…. 2 dps lines, 2 tank lines, 2 support lines.
And many viable builds REQUIRE you to take the traits just because they are must haves…..

Ironically, I am not speaking of glass cannon. I am speaking of a Toughness build, which at the moment is stupid because you can’t handle the extra aggro as a Warrior.
Which is why I like to run with a tanky necro or a guard lol.
tanky necro = all aggro all the time no matter who is there.
The problem is that it feels like it’s basically glass or nothing without the sustain. I run a fair bit more toughness in my build in order to be able to take more damage, but in a lot of situations I just find myself under more pressure because that toughness draws aggro. There exists no real option for a sustainable less-than-glass build that actually contributes something to a team that a guardian can’t just do better.
Your dps is what the guard cant do better. Many guards are built in support mostly… rarely are they dps. Their auto attacks and other attacks are significantly lower than a warriors even if the warrior went full on bunker. Even a guard that goes full dps doesn’t compare to a warrior.
Your group wide crit buff, shouts do actually heal for quite a bit, banner healing…. etc etc. I mean if you want to compare support to support ya the guard is better but thats what the profession was meant to do. Warrior was meant to dole out damage and it does that even when you don’t go full zerker you still do major damage compared to the rest of the professions.
Warriors are weak to condition damage though, which is why group synergy is important… meaning stacking 4 warriors + 1 mes is probably not good for condition heavy fights….
Ya, but an elementalist can do your job only better, with aoe, and with combo fields…
Or a engineer with grenades for that matter

We still eat more damage than a guardian and can do more dps… Its unfortunate that all warrior builds in high end dungeons or WvW for that matter now must begin with an automatic 30 points into Tactics, but its become increasingly clear that Anet hasnt a clue how their “minor changes” effect the game.
They are so busy with trying (and failing) to make sPvP into an eSport that the rest of the game has essentially become an afterthought.

You want to go full glass and melee great, but your going to have to actually play, dodge and time your heals. Its called high risk dps. No other class can really reach the sustained damage of a warrior, let alone do it with the surviability and healing a warrior was getting from pies….. there is a reason groups were call for 4 zerkers + 1 mesmer. It wasn’t because they thought heavy armored axe wielding warriors were pretty to look at its because they provided the fastest dps and runs.
He even specifically mention’s warriors and hes right…. a warrior can just stand there for the most part and heal from all his crits while doling out top damage lol.

Food item life steal on crit Cooldown: The best heal in the game can’t be 100 blades or other similar attacks. If you want to play a glass cannon, there should be danger involved, and the food buff mitigated the danger and allowed glass cannons to stand and trade blows without having to utilize their own heals or dodge rolls. They could just stand still and win – and that’s not the type of dynamic combat we want for our game. We test our content without the food buffs to ensure they are capable to players without access to them, and make sure the balance is good enough for players who don’t have those buffs. There are a lot of other viable food buffs in the game, and this one food buff meant a core few items were dominating all the others.Whats sad about this is you guys are about the whiniest freaking place on these forums even when you were considered the best pve class you would still whine and cry about “being broken” I bet the other professions would love to have even half the traits and hp/armor you guys have along with the base damage you get rofl.
Food got nerfed warriors didn’t your bad if you made food your bread and butter, and thats all there is to it.
That is a RIDICULOUS statement, my warrior is in full Knight’s and used that food, If I didn’t AVOID AOEs like everyone else, I would get ONE shotted and there is nothing that food could do to save me.

He probably mentioned CoF path 1 or the old AC Paths, which anyone could do, even without food and stand there and take AOEs (They still can if they play a guardian!), That is called “Bad Design.” and not the players fault.
There are times I had to cancel Hundred blades and dodge because I was taking so much aoe damage it was ridiculous and I couldn’t sit there.
Thats why most warriors that know what they are doing dont rely on Greatsword…. Axe/Mace all the way m8. You stay 100% mobile and you lay down vuln stacks along with 3.0k-3.5k auto attacks axe/mace > greatsword in many situations because alot of end game stuff you cant stand there and get the full effect of HB, so say you got up to 9k on your HB and had to dodge… well the axe warrior that was mobile was laying down around 13-15k damage with his auto attack while not being hit.
And I know for a fact you weren’t one shot in knights gear because in full zerkers even when I mess up it rarely results in a one shot…..I might have 1k-5k hp left but it wasn’t a one shot…… and thats in full zerker…. in full knights…. ya not buying that lol.
It is not that I don’t agree with the food nerf; it is that Warriors got no compensation in the sustain department at all! Omnon Pies/Ghosts was a necessary crutch for Warriors due to our horrible sustain.
What part of going glass cannon involves risk are you guys not understanding?
No other class can go full glass and put up the numbers warriors do lol.
If you chopped your offense in half and put it in defense you would still be on par damage wise with most glass cannon builds……with the exception of maybe a thief but they are more geared towards burst anyways.
And no other class can sustain themselves either as full glass. Because most of them have no armor, and no hp….
Most glass cannon builds for other professions have somewhere around 10k to 13k hp… while a warrior sits at a pretty 20k-23k hp lol… with better armor…. you want to compare apples to apples then compare other professions full glass dps builds to warrior glass dps builds, you have more survivability and higher dps even with the food nerf -.-.

I love knights armor, and totally reccommend it.
I like how knights armor and ogre runes go pretty well together, because you have the power there, and the toughness to help you live. I honestly could care less about the crit % I lose out on with zerker. I’m really just now replaceing some of my kngihts with zerker, but i’m not going full zerker. I honestly should just stay full knights, I like the toughness way too much to give it up.
Toughness is a double-edged sword. It makes you tougher, yes, but it also makes you an aggro-magnet. That’s how Berserker Warriors actually work; they have no Toughness to draw aggro.

Having higher toughness CAUSES aggro?Oh my, yes. Stacking Toughness is one of the easier ways to make yourself an aggro-magnet.

Only problem with that is if your in group of squishy’s…. glass light armor, glass medium….. then your still going to have agro lol only you will have aggro with armor that still isn’t that good.
A warrior is only as good as his group. Wethsopu solo’s very specific content, where 2 dodges will get you out of any danger.
But if you are in a situation where your in a group and doing a ranged boss and your group is crap and you are getting pelted left and right by ranged auto attacks, adds and special moves, your as good as dead.
That being said some of the boss’s in his solo videos he had trouble with (almost downed) even with crit food, so its likely some of them he wont be able to do. Like the pirate boss I can see being an issue now, and possibly the asura. As the incoming damage might be too much to survive without back to back heals from food.
Still a skilled guy, just sayin its very specific content that you are able to get away with being rambo. And in a bad group your gonna get hit hard, in a good group a good warrior will shine, in a bad group a good warrior is gonna have trouble if there are multiple targets gunning for him…. meaning your going to have to leave melee and kite in alot of situations as you cant rely on food heals.
I thought the Krait seemed a lot more powerful. Encountered them in WvW, on the center BL island where its usually easy to solo upwards of 10 of them if you have to, and they knocked my health down so fast I had to run. I don’t remember them having stacks of 5 and 10 might before.
See thats why they boosted them being able to solo 10 endgame mobs at the same time……. clearly they weren’t powerful enough.
Now they laugh at you as you run in like a fool thinking your god mode. Only to be put in your place.

For those also thinking I went rogue and did this, I went through all the checks and balances, and discussed the changes with leads. While I do have the power to change dungeons, things that affect the world outside of dungeons is handled through meetings to make sure everyone is on board with a proposed solution.
This was a great change and a good step toward profession balancing. I’ve stated a number of times on this forum of my regret in choosing a necro over a warrior. The main reason being is that a warrior turned out to be so much more powerful and has a much greater loot potential when farming mobs than my condition damage necro. I chose the necro purely for appearance as it is the least ugly of the Asura females. That is honestly why I’m a necro.
At the time I bought GW2, it was touted by ANet that the professions, overall, were equally balanced. Well, how different that became.
As Hrouda implies, the short of it is that there should be no build possible that allows anyone to stand there and get hacked on without any chance of risk. This is lazy and if these things allowed warriors to do that, they were a serious crutch. At worst I’d almost consider an exploit that made warriors extremely overpowered.
Now Warrior is one of the worst classes in PvE, WvWvW, SPVP. There is really nothing special or fun about them, they don’t have many boons and they’re fun stuff is limited and clunky, they don’t have any cool traits or skills you can really abuse like other classes and they are just “ok.”
Every other class does things better, except damage… but we can’t really pull that kind of damage anymore without being in melee. Melee + Dungeon = Death.

Yeah, you know i dont see it…I can cleanse a condition every shout, have 3 shouts. I can Heal for 50% of my HP every ~30 seconds. If i need a quick heal i can shout once again on roughly ~20sec cooldowns and get healed for ~1.5khp
So really what’s the problem ?
Right, there is ONE build that works… what could be the problem?
I dont need the gimmick of food to be stupidly tanky and survive burst. I can still do all of this with a Greatsword, and guess what because i dont have to worry about DPS’ing from the floor ever. I put out more sustained DPS than any Zerker warrior, who basically falls on their face when blinked at.
OK, having used a Warrior with both a “heal-shout” and a “zerker” build, I have to say you are delusional if you think “heal-shout” is putting out more sustained DPS than a skilled zerker warrior. And actually if everything you claim were true, is seems like “the problem” would be that they nerfed the wrong build… LOL
I’d say the did nerf the wrong build. But that would be admitting a build was nerfed, which it wasn’t. A consumeable that allowed a gimmick to exist got nerfed. Not an entire build. A Good Zerker can still do work post patch, they just aren’t as durable.
For the record, Soliders gear + runes is blatantly broken for warrior combined with shout heal.
That isnt to say there aren’t more broken things. Running a Killshot warrior is equally as broken. 1200 range snare followed up by a 20k+ crit ? Yep balanced.
Running a shouts heal condi warrior with Sword / Axe + Shamans Gear … Equally as comical and Just as broken. Always heal never die, watch your target burn / bleed constantly.
But its okay everyone keep thinking there’s only 1 viable build, and arena net just nerfed your only options!

770 hours of playtime and you finally make an update that puts an angry face on me.
One yellow 1 green 4 blues and a low quality gem is all my level 80 got from the frozen maw today. I usually get 3 times that.I can’t craft the best stuff, the best chests give crap loot now once per char/day (good luck getting your exotics now lol), everything needs a token of some sort, dungeons aren’t level appropriate now. Why do you hate loot? You want us to make communities but you keep breaking the parts that make communities. WE DON’T WANT TO ROAM AROUND, WE WANT LOOT.
{ we did it for market balance, there were too many ectos } still has orders for things that can’t be bought/sold/provided.
THE chest event for a low level area and you gimp it. That’s nice. Better gimp all the rest of them too.
ummm go do dungeons, fractals… go farm… go pvp. I have killed over 1k dragons myself…. and I have seen only a handful of rares…. the vast majority of loot was blues.
Yes…. thats totally game breaking when you can run a dungeon and get 2x the loot that you could from a dragon lol… shut the hell up already.
Loot aside the bad part about this is event participation will cease. The game is supposed to be centered around dynamic events, so this may have a horrible effect on that.
Well if dragons are down to once a day at most then I know a lot of players who’d quit over it. Could they really be dumb enough to do this when they know how much people enjoy them?
People dont enjoy killing dragons they do so under the notion that before loot broke it was a good way to get precursors. So they afk, then play for 5- 10minutes spamming 1 button all day every day…. that was not how the game was intended. So to fix it limit the amount of chests you get to 1 a day per character… there problem solved.
AND THATS ALL THEY DO WHEN THEY LOGIN, they dont interact with the community or do anything else really…… dont think anyone will miss people that quit over that because they are in my eyes no different than a bot that sits in one spot killing the same mob repeatedly lol.
