Pretty easy to lock a mes or thief down. If they have high burst you can bet they die fast.

Risk = low hp and low survive on the hp.

Reward = High burst.

This thread is hilarious.

Every pve player’’LOL U MAD ITS WARRIOR THAT IS GOLDEN FAVORED CLASS THAT EVERY DEV PLAYS IN BATHROOM LOL U SERIOUS?’’

And every WvW player ‘’YEAH ITS THIEF, WITH THAT STEALTH THEY CAN FIGHT 10 PEOPLE AND STILL SURVIVE, STEALTH IS BROKEN THEY LIKE NINJAS OF THE NIGHT’’

I wonder if people in this thread even understand that the two sides are talking about two different things entirely

Dont think they do… I could give 2 kittens about pvp really. War is god mode in pve and thief is well meh….

Roles are reversed in pvp, lol

(who’d have thunk that one can post to a 5-day-old thread and already be necro-posting?)

I, too, hate dungeons.

Not because they’re inherently bad, but because they were implemented badly.

Case 1: they CANNOT be done with less than 5 people (at least the reasonably hard ones)

Which is not that bad, in itself – but it means that if out of the 5, one is incompetent, you still have no chance.

Just got back from a 3-hour run of the Weapons Facilities, where a single ranger with the HP of a European coconut-laden swallow kept 4 other people from being able to finish – dozens of runs on the bosses, with different strategies and varying amounts of success, until she left and we replaced her with someone competent.

Case 2: they cannot be stopped and resumed later.

I don’t have 3 hours to waste in one sitting, but because it’s a “multiplayer dungeon”, it doesn’t have meaningful checkpoints I can come back to later, so it must be done in one sitting.

Case 3: this particular dungeon is time-limited.

And because the event is expiring this Sunday, if I don’t do it today then I won’t have time to do it before it ends. So my options are: not get enough sleep tonight and go to work like a zombie tomorrow, OR never get to see the end of the event and never get the final rewards. Whee.

Sorry that a game does not meet EVERYONES scheduled life time events. -.-…. there is no extra reward either you can already get the gauntlets…. since the very first day the MF dungeon came out.

And its likely just something you login and go to a bonfire and theres a short cutscene… that doesn’t even require you to have finished any previous parts of the living story….. I assume that because you could enter the dungeon without having completed anything else.

You should try a little common sense. It will take you far.

11k? That sounds insane. However, I don’t know if it’s bugged or not, but I have no problems with my iZerker. I am one a high crit chance build, with rampager armor to bleed my enemies to death through sharper images

There is some luck involved, granted. As you can see in the first screenshot, the Zerker gets somehow stuck on the wall and deals very little dmg. However, in the 2nd screenshot it does okay dmg, for I am not on Bersekrer armor…

If it would deal more dmg, it would be slightly overpowered imho.

Sorry that damage is horrible.

A dps warrior can auto attack for 3.2k to 3.5k with an axe lol.

Before the “bug/nerf” I could get 6k-6.5k range on my zerker. thats with 127% crit damage…. now im lucky to break 4.5k…

I generally get around 2.5k now on average… assuming I get at least 2 hits in…. which seems like a rarity these days -.-.

Anet you need to get it together.

DPS and Meters

in Suggestions

Posted by: Namu.5712

Namu.5712

Just a quick example of how a damage meter, including total damage, is just completely the wrong thing to do. I was playing FFXI which has no damage meter at all, but you can get parsers online that work in exactly the same way. One time we decided to parse our events to do as you said, test where our strengths were and what classes we should all be coming to get the best results instead of just coming in the way we saw was fun.

Anyways at the end of the run, we looked back at the damage and linked it all in party chat etc. Now, we are all really really great friends, but the arguments we had after discussing them results were just incredible. People were saying they were all terrible players and the classes were wrong and imbalanced, and making excuses, blaming the bosses for using bad moves etc. Basically just slating everyone, which never happens because we all knew we were great players and didn’t need numbers to tell us that.

My point being, that after using this for a week our overall view on the DPS meter was to burn it and never ever set eyes on it again, because it would have destroyed our friendship and will do the same with the community, all over a set of numbers that really mean very little. It does not measure skill.

This game is not like WoW and I really hope it does not become a new WoW. The laid back nature of the community in game at the moment when it comes to joining events is what keeps me and a lot of players actually active in the game. Not everyone who plays today has come from an MMO background, or plays hardcore because there’s no sub fee, so adding so much competition for damage will potentially be disastrous.

Not very good friends then if a few artificial numbers caused a lash out between you.

if someone on my team or one of my friends has bad numbers I have suggestions for them to bring up their numbers I dont castrate my friends for poor dps. If we were successful on the run thats all that matters. If we failed hard for hours then its time to look at how we are playing and reacting to mechanics.

Some of you are making over the top exaggeration’s to very specific scenarios that dont really happen very often at all….. especially between friends, thats how I know your full of crap.

This dungeon hates Aussies and thus I do not like it. Was a pain getting to the end of it with so many ‘you must dodge and only dodge this’ attacks. Then ‘oh here’s more stuff to dodge after your endurance is empty.’

Fun times.

Boss mechanics = fun.
The only mechanic being dodge = not fun.

The only mechanic wasn’t dodge though… and to be frank when theres no trinity what mechanics were you expecting…. I mean really lol. Wow based around positioning, healing, dps, tanking.

If nothing else, I fail to see why any of this RTL nerf business needs to be in PVE.

I dont’ see why ANY of the nerfs need to be in PvE. It’s not like people were asking for D/D eles for dungeon farming.

The RTL nerf and such is a pvp nerf not a PVE nerf from what I heard them saying.

If the pick wasn’t overpriced, then it would be an economic advantage to those who can afford it. Essentially, people with real money or lots of gold right now will have a clear advantage over people without (especially new players who come in after the pick is removed).

Why the heck would you want something like that in the Gem Store?

When a games content is centered around dps builds…. it becomes pretty meh for me and most of my friends as well.

Theres a reason people like having roles, gives you more replability and something new to do.

GW2 DPS or gtfo seems like that’s how Anet rolls…. I would consider their combat system and dungeons two steps forward then three steps back. They had the right idea trying to break away from normal mmo’s but failed to implement it in a fun way and failed to add meaningful variety in professions. yes you can go bunker or condition but really its subpar to a full on dps/burst build when the game is centered around NOT taking any hits at all.

That however is my opinion and your welcome to disagree with it or not but lets not have an argument over my opinion, because like a holes we all have one and they all smell like you know what.

Im sure that coffee or big mac has more worth/value than the digital item in question…. oh right it doesn’t because its gone in less than an hour and did nothing for your health. Or how bout that 20 bucks you blew on beer then kitten away not even 12 hours later.

Lets be real here. The amount spent on nonsensical things, that are gone in a matter of minutes or hours…. well its alot. And you you guys are sitting on a forums complaining about a mining pick that costs 10 dollars…. or free if you have the gold -.-. The irony of things – the “iron” pick:
people give free suggestions to A-net through various threads asking some sort of more convenient gathering tools and they just take advantage of them through the gem-store asking money for what they found out for free not even spending one cent on a survey campaign

Yes because giving something to the community that they want as a viable means to make money when they charge no monthly fee, and pump out monthly content updates is taking advantage of people.

They are on the store for a limited time and for less than the price of most mmo subs.

You don’t want to spend 10 bucks this month on something then don’t, but saying they are ripping off people or taking advantage… comon.

How dense can you be, they are a company running a Free to play game. They need to make money off of things viewed as valuable to the community, not give them away.

Infact you don’t even have to spend RL money to get it if you have the gold. Think some people need to come back down and get off their high horses of morality.

And they stated that they thought it would take people longer. So yeah, when I start making threads that have been done a zillion times over, you’d be right to accuse me of not being original. But if a thread is made, I do try to post in that particular thread.

You apparently lack reading comprehension too. Did I say anything about you starting threads? No I said your reply (there does the bold help? lol) was about as original as the OP’s thread. In that the only thing you came in this thread to do was give the OP crap for no real reason.

One star for the most original thread on the forums. You might have just posted the opinion on the Battles should be epic thread, or one of the other threads complaining about the same thing, since we’ll have to have the same conversation, including the same suggestions for fixing it, or the same people who’ll tell you to do something else besides world bosses, there’s plenty of epic in this game.

Just like your overly original reply amiright?

rolls eyes

But ya fights in this game that are supposed to be epic are not epic… nor challenging. You just stand at soemthings foot and pound on it lol with the occasional fear, which is broken by shouts 99% of the time.

zerg groups up, dragon shoots a fire ball (or poision, or ice shard etcetc) at a few players and any players near those player get ignited for like 300% damage, that cant be cleansed with cond removal. That would add some zerg awareness if you ask me, instead of everyone just stacking in one spot andkittenderping tell the boss’s hp bar is gone and they can get their loots.

Need better mechanics overall.

For jormag counter the side stacking so that when jormag flys in he creates ice walls on the side that cant be crossed to force players into the mechanics that are meant to be there, so you know theres actually running, dodging etc… not just standing there spamming 1 till the ice wall breaks.

Same for his second phase block off areas and force participation in mechanics. Allowing players to bypass mechanics is stupid.

Want your world boss loots? Earn it, make people earn it Anet.

When teq rises up and then comes down… why isn’t the ground shaking knocking people down, doing damage? When he pulls a foot back then moves it fowards back into the zerg why are people not being thrown back and damaged?

Comon Anet you can do better than this. You have an epic dragon….. now make it do epic things with it’s body. It doesn’t feel epic when a dragon you can’t even fit on your screen jumps up and down and nothing happens lol. Doesn’t feel epic when a dragon goes to lift off the ground the sheer force from its wing thrust is nothing more than a fart in the wind. That should throw people back do damage, cripple etc etc. Get creative guys.

After the dragon is in flight have a mechanic that requires people to fall back and use some sort of harpoon gun to pierce its wings and bring it back down temporarily. And every second its in the air the flapping from its wings do massive damage to people still standing under it trying to afk DPS. Encouraging people to move about and do something.

Stuck up players that don’t know any better think the only thing good at pve is a warrior.

I generally can kill stuff at the same rate on my zerker gaurd as a zerker warrior when in a dungeon and attacking different mobs. Yes they have a higher auto attack thats a bit faster. but we have about the same overall dps, not the same burst though. Its not uncommon for my whirling wrath to hit up to 12k, 18k to 20k with a mesmer buff. and my 3rd gs auto is around 4.5k-5.5k on crit.

But heres the difference I bring much more to the group than a warrior. My dps might be slightly behind but I pull out more for a group than a warrior does and the speed difference isn’t much. especially on big pulls like COF p3 where you have to light the torches…. watching a zerker warrior trying to survive all the oozes or tar is a bit funny. I run in pull them all too me and burst the whole group down be for the warrior can kill 3 lol, if he doesn’t get downed in the process from burning conditions first.

SO no Warriors are not the the be all end all pve god in this game.

Additional functionality will come on-line through-out the next couple weeks showing more players, more sorting options, and allowing all players to search to find what % of the over-all player base they fall into rank wise.

Good!

While I never expect to be in the top 100 of anything as I simply dont have the time to devote to compete with people that do their daily every day or play non stop in wvw 8 hours a day.

It would however be nice to see where I stand in relation to everyone else.

I don’t think the spvp stuff is that good, it should be based on personal performance not team performance…. it is after all a personal ranking so why base it off of a team criteria? That makes no sense to me.

To 80? You get 10 levels per craft. You can retain 2 crafts per character. Seems like a waste to be maxing crafts then removing them to do another. Leveling is already pretty easy in gw2, especially heavy armor classes.

I suppose ANET would really cash in if they sold lvl60 characters including a crafting booster with each purchase lol

You don’t remove them, you retain the skill level.

SO every character you craft all 8 on will have all 8 still… you can only have 2 active at any one time on a character, its like 2 silver or something to activate a different craft you have level up already.

Not a waste of time at all. I can get 1 to 80 in about 5 hours and 40ish gold depending on how much ive gained material wise with my main while playing. When you have 100% map completion you have pretty much done everything there is in the open world…. doing it again for alts is a tad boring after the first 10-20 levels lol

I just came back and I’m sad to see no one in starting zones anymore as I re-rolled a new character so I could get back into the game.

I’m currently on Maguuma and I was on Darkhaven before using some gold to Transfer to what I thought was a more populated server.

Anyone know which servers are actually populated? Kinda sucks not being able to do group events and such since no one is in these areas anymore, :’(.

P.S I came back like a week ago before this event started

Don’t listen to the trolls on here. There is a population problem. The maps are empty and they were before the event started. It’s not just the starter areas either. You will find yourself fully leveled, repeating the same couple of events because no one is on the map.

You’re right. It’s a real problem. I hope the devs are taking is seriously. Its making the game way less fun to play.

Actually its not that the game is dead its that theres 3 very specific seperators for population!

WvW…. hundreds of players are there, you wont see them in start zones or even endgame zones for pve…. why because they are pvping in a different land.

Spvp…. another huge chunk of players standing aroudn and pvping in the mists…. not gonna see them in pve land either.

Another huge chunk of players, chillen in lions arch and doing fractals.

Currently another huge chunk are hanging in rata doing the new content.

Its not that the population is dead, its that the population has matured and are spread in many different areas.

Lets not forget that not even a week ago you couldn’t even zone into world events going on without going into overflow because everyone would be there to kill a dragon lol…..

Go check out wayfarer foothills grantee theres alot of people there leveling off the events, because its the best way to level…. many older players just craft 1 to 80 as well so another reason you wont see players in start areas…..

If this game had WvW integrated with pve and a flagging system you would probably hit overflow on a few maps where pvp was going on because thats how many people in this game pvp.

Because it did take a good amount of resources to put in and time, it could be argued that time could have been used to improve endgame and add things that fit the lore/style of the game.

I personnally like it, however I can see why some hate it. And its probably because they know that instead of adding something to endgame that fits they added a mini game that took alot of dev time and resources.

And to top it off its only a month long… thats alot of wasted time for a temporary event dont you think?

You have got to be kidding me. Like I’ve said before….people in this world just amaze me. And yeah, I’m talking about the REAL world for all you “immersion” freaks.

Gads, there are some uptight people in this thread.

Whoa reading way too much into my post, I am saying people are expressing their discoord and that is a possible reason why.

I personally love the update, but I can see why people are not loving it. And that is probably a reason.

Calling me up tight? look at your over reaction post lol.

So how long

Did it take to make the super adventure box? And how many resources did Anet use that could have been devoted to other struggling areas?

I say this because they made an entire mini game which takes time and resources away from the main game…. then only made it a month long….

That doesn’t make a lick of sense, lets waste all this time and resource on a mini game that lasts a month….

That being said I love the Super Adventure Box, WTB Zone 2. It kinda reminds me of zelda and a number of other games mixed together.

SAB: Ok what kind of game is this?

It’s just a bit of fun for April. And judging by the Super Adenture Box forum, it’s extremely popular with many calling for it to be permanent.

It’s fair if you don’t like it, but just ignore it

If you had one million gold

- Send everyone on the server 10 gold.

- Get banned by Anet as a gold seller because who else is going to have that much?

- Die of malnutrition because you haven’t gotten out of your chair in six months and have been living on the nachos and beer that your friends bring over every weekend.

- Realize that if you put that much effort into Real Life you’d be married with a kid on the way and a have a decent-paying job by now.

- Take a shower already! Geesh! (Also recommended for working on Real Life, above)

- Uninstall and play another game because after this everything just gets too boring.

hahaha

I think... I think I need open world PvP...

Some say it is a legend, other say they have actually been there! For those who dare, I call it WvWvW

Very nice and polite way to say it mate, I would’ve said:
we don’t need open world pvp crap in gw2, play WvW like a man or gtfo, or what you can’t take it when you can’t just gank and grief the people questing for pve purposes.

Dete ike, konoyaro, do aho.

Except hes talking about unexpected pvp which means, hes not the one ganking but doing something then bam someone is in his face.

I agree with him. I played Aion for a long time before the pvp nerfs, and some of my best moments were while I was out leveling an alt then suddenly getting jumped by an assassin, surviving fighting them off then hunting them and their friends down where ever they were hiding. Hours and hours of fun were had with open world pvp.

And hes talking about a flagging system so if you don’t want to pvp open world well you wont, and therefore cant get ganked or griefed.

Stop jumping on ideas and being verbally offensive and generally making crap up that wasn’t even said.

Seems thats all these forums are made up of these days.

@Namu

I’m sorry, but the truth hurts sometimes. Don’t get mad. Find a new game that makes you happy so you can work for some digital pixels that “reward you for time spent”.

Now your just trolling.

Your truth is not mine, I even said in my last post im perfectly fine with the game. But its silly to be against gear progression where grind and all that already exists.

More types of content like fractals would be great because you get progression but its not “required”.

Come back and post when you grow up a little.

Instead of simply bashing the game, some critics of GW2 actually think there is a game worth playing and give their opinions of what they think would and would not make the game better.

All you are doing is saying that the game sucks so it’s not worth discussing. So why are YOU bothering to discuss it? Do you enjoy being a hypocrite?

Excuse me where in my posts did I say I don’t think the game isn’t worth playing?

Thank you for putting words in my mouth so to speak.

I simply stated that it is flat out wrong to be against gear progression because its a treadmill/grind when the game is already pretty much 100% grind.

I however have no problem with grind because well I need something to work towards personnally. Yes I like beating things and stuff but ultimately I like to spend my time working towards goals that reward me for time spent.

Again stop putting words in my mouth and making assumptions. Geeze.

I also said its silly to complain, you translated everything I said to QQ and bashing lol. GJ. And the stuff said about the legendary is what I gather how most feel about the current way of getting them… which is a grind and spending money… again I dont really care either way. Just saying there already exists a nasty grind for most of the community who joined GW2 to play a game with “no grind”.
