I miss mystery of what kind of updates the game would be getting.
Had I known it would all be temporary I certainly would not have been very excited.
And to the people saying they never see anyone; what server are you on? I play on Ring of Fire and I actually see people everywhere I go.
Of course not in massive numbers like the champion trains, but I generally find 4-10 people per map no matter what time I go there.

Hello.
When the Living Story first was introduced to us we were told that the purpose of it was to deliver an expansion’s worth of content for free, but over time.
We have almost had a year of the Living Story now, and since the beginning people have continued to say that there hasn’t been an expansion’s worth of content or anything similair to that.
What people forget to realize is that expansions typically come out every 2-3 years.
If you honestly expect an expansion’s worth of content in less than a year, then your expectations are extremely unrealistic.
We are now in the second year of the game’s life, and only now are we getting closer to the time where an expansion would be released.
So until the game is 2-3 years old we won’t be able to judge wether or not the Living Story can produce the same content that an expansion would.
And concidering that we get new content every 2 weeks it could be even longer before expansion content, since they have much more to work on this way.
All we can do is watch, give feedback and hope for the best.
Remember, ArenaNet is a company. Companies want money, and no company is foolish enough to think they can ignore the customers’ demands and not suffer, especially when competition is coming.

I wouldn’t do away with all waypoints.
I’d just reduce the number of them to 1-2 waypoints per zone.
Asura gates I would do away with though.

It has its ups and downs.
Temporary content can be fantastic, but it can also be a disaster. This year has been a mix of both.
Bazaar of the Four Winds, Queen’s Jubilee and the Tower of Nightmares were the best updates this year, while the rest have been pretty meh in my opinion.
The Tower of Nightmares was incredible, and the ending was the best so far.
In the future we will be able to take our new friends to Kessex and say:“I was there when this happened. We caused this”.
In my opinion the only temporary content should be the lead-ups to major chapters.
The best example I can give is what happened in WoW before “Cataclysm”.
There were a few story and event chapters that lead up to that expansion which made it feel like an evolving story.
Nothing major, but it did the job. Plus in some of the chapters there were unique rewards.

Progression depends on each individual player.
I am in favour of vanity progression.
Transformation items are my favourite. Endless cat tonic, watchknight, molten berserker, you name it.
Items like that are what motivates me, not statistical progression.
I am also crazy about vanity items I can spawn in the world. Chairs to sit on, bonfires, banners, finishers.
Just something for me to spawn and perhaps interact with.
If dyes were account bound then I would collect them. As it stands now I only get a few cheap ones for alts.
Also, use up what you already have in the game. There are a ton of skins, but because of the terrible transmutation system we stick to one skin and one skin only.
Imagine if we could unlock skins and endlessly switch between all of them. I would go out of my way to collect as many as possible – even buying those in the gem store.

Hello.
I made a video trying to show how beautiful the world in GWII is, and I was wondering what you guys think about it.

The video is a little long, but the world is huge.

The Queen’s Jubilee and Tower of Nightmares have been my absolute favourite patches, together with halloween and wintersday.
But there is just one thing I can’t stop thinking about: was the architect for the Tower of Nightmares compensating for something?

I regret nothing.

My main is an elementalist.
I chose it because after having played a warrior in WoW for 5 years I got extremely tired of just swinging a sword.
So when I saw the Yogscast’s elementalist spotlight I was absolutely mesmerized by the ridicolous amount of different spell animations. I was sold.
I do have a warrior now as well – because I need to have one – but I rarely play it, and then I have ever class except mesmer and guardian.
I just don’t connect with those two.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zkT2uZAGA – GW2 – A world of wonder
I don’t know how much I will want to PvP when this happens.
The constant progression really adds to the experience, and I like it when I see people at a high rank.
The unlocking of skins as you rank up is the best part for me, so this really makes me sad.

Hello.
With this year ending in just a few weeks I was wondering what other people think might be in store for GWII in next year.
Personally I believe the following:
Scarlet will die in Feburary.
She(or us) will have awaken an elder dragon and the Zephyr Sanctum will return to help us kill it.
When the dragon is dead the tengu will decide that they can trust us and join us.
What do you guys think?

I’d probably go with the grawl or hylek.

If all skins worked like the achievement skins then I would be perfectly fine with new skins only being available through the gem store.

I know exactly how you feel.
I can no longer play MMOS that do not have:
1. A Buy-to-play model.
2. Up to date graphics. The fact that the world in the distance looks like concept art is mindblowing to me.
3. A massive world
4. Level sidekicking.
5. A ridicolously high quality, and quantity, of animations.
6. Upleveling in PvP as well as instant access to best in-slot gear.
7. Dynamic events.
8. A personal story.
9. Jumping puzzles.
10. A dye system for your gear.
11. Cross realm auction house.
12. Great underwater combat.
13. Armour sets of a size that you can actually imagine wearing.
I remember a certain game where the power of your character would depend on the size of your shoulderpads.
And where there would only be new models for head gear and shoulderpads, where the rest of the gear would be re-painted versions of gear that has been around for years, if not just having the “gear” being paint on the character’s body.
I said this and now I am interested in Wildstar. :O
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zkT2uZAGA – GW2 – A world of wonder
MMO forums are always a pool of tears.
But here are mine:
1. Content+reward scaling – simply the best feature any MMO can offer.
All content is relavent. I can be level 70 and go to a level 5 area, level up and actually have a decent chance of getting loot appropriate to my level.
I cannot express how much I hated it in WoW when there was a zone I wanted to go and experience, but had absolutely no reason to do so because once you outlevel a zone there is no reason to go back.
To put this into perspective, there are currently about 11 starting zones in WoW, but once you outlevel one of them you will never go to any other of them. That’s a kittenton of time, money and resources spent on content you will never experience, unless you level up an alt.
2. Structured PvP – exactly how PvP should be done. Everyone is max level, has all abilities unlocked and has best-in-slot gear immidiately. And throw in a sense of progression via ranks, skins and finishers and you’ve got an unlimited amount of fun.
3. Freedom – being able to do whatever I want in order to progress my character is phenomenal. I can level up by questing, exploring, crafting and PvP’ing.
4. Attention to detail – the art/enviromental team in GWII is ridiculously talented.
They put details into EVERYTHING. Just to give a few examples: your character’s pose changes depending on the enviroment. When you run through grass it moves according to your character. Leaves on trees move as if there is wind. Sounds change depending on everything – if you walk through shallow water it will sound like shallow water,
5. Character creation – the character creation is mind blowing.
So many body types, sliders for everything, so many skin colours, tattos, fur patterns etc.
You can actually use most faces and make at least two completely different characters if you customize it right.
I am a bit put off of Wildstar because the character creation lacks.
No body types, no height slider, hardly any skin colours and no lenght sliders for stuff like ears, horns etc.
Obviously it isn’t even in open beta yet, but it seems like there won’t be any of this.
ArenaNet would make good money if they made a race change kit. Heck, if I told you how many times I race changed in WoW you would call me crazy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zkT2uZAGA – GW2 – A world of wonder
I never played GWI but here is my list:
1. The transmutation system – if the game is about cosmetics then we should be able to simply unlock skins and switch between them anytime we want. We should be able to right click on any item slot and then be able to select between all skins we had collected.
2. The living story – they claim it is supposed to be delivering an expansion’s worth of content over time, yet most of the content is temporary. How can you call it an expansion’s worth of content if I can take a break for a year, and by the time I come back there will hardly be anything new for me to experience, simply because I wasn’t playing every single day?
3. The personal story – if every character is going to die, at least make it feel varied.
Don’t make everyone die at the same level, and give the characters an actual reason for dying. And don’t make the final mission require a group to complete when all the other missions are made to be solo’ed. I won’t finish my personal story because of this.
4. Legendaries – why on earth can you sell them on the trading post?
Because of that very reason I don’t concider them any different than any other skin – in fact I admire fractal skins more because you know that someone has played a lot of difficult content to get them. I could just farm for a few months or buy a ton of gems, convert them to gold and voila, legendary for me!
5. Quest/event rewards – there are no meaningful quest/event rewards in this game. When you complete a quest/event you get xp, karma and coin.
If you’ve seen WoodenPotatoes’ video about breaking out of Brisban Wildlands you will notice he is using an experimental rifle from Orr. That rifle is amazing, but it has a single charge. If it was unlimited charges then a ton of people would go and do whatever it takes to get that rifle.
And it doesn’t even have to be something that gives you fluff skills, it could be stuff like the Watchknight Tonic. There could be tonics like that for inquest, flame legion, sons of svanir, nightmare court etc.

Hello.
I decided to make a video to show what gear currently works with charr tails.
Either it works perfectly with the tail, or it simply doesn’t clip enough for you to really notice it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zkT2uZAGA – GW2 – A world of wonder
I made a video so you can preview the gear.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zkT2uZAGA – GW2 – A world of wonder
1. Add a new island where you can duel other people – or add dueling to the arena in the Black Citadel.
2. Make it so people don’t get into matches with people who are more than 9 ranks higher than themselves.
3. Make it more clear what awards top-stats achievements.
4. Let gear keep the sigils/runes when you deposit them. I like to have a lot of skins to switch between, but when I also do PvE I use the ‘deposit collectibles’ button a lot, and I hate having to keep putting everything back on every item.
5. Increase the rewards(preferably rank points) if you managed to win a match where your team had say 50 points, and the other team had 300.
6. Add a description to each piece of gear in the wardrobe so you can see which rank you need to be in order to unlock it.
7. Add more lists to the scoreboard – show how many kills people have, how many times they have died, how many times you’ve dodged or blocked an attack etc.
And please allow us to hide our back piece in sPvP.

Hello.
I thought I’d make a list of the armour that goes with charr, since a lot of armour doesn’t take the tail into concideration.
I will update this thread as more armour is added to the game, and I would really appreciate it if a dev could sticky this thread so people can get a little overview of gear that works well with the race, since the general impression is that everything clips with charr.
The armour either doesn’t clip at all with the tail, or doesn’t do it to an extent that you will really notice it.
The names are from the wardrobe in the Heart of the Mists, so the names may be different in PvE.

Champion bags are not ruining anything.
Before them it was running CoF over and over again.
People will always flock to whatever gives the best rewards, and I’d much rather have people be out in the open world than inside a dungeon.
And this is exactly the reason why we don’t see new zones.
ArenaNet doesn’t want to waste time, money and resources to make a new map when people will just go there, complete the content and then leave forever unless the level up an alt.
They’d much rather make the existing world as rewarding as possible than expanding it just for the sake of doing so.

A dev said something about us killing her in the beginning of next year.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zkT2uZAGA – GW2 – A world of wonder
It’s known that Tengu was considered being a playable race with Guild Wars 2 release but they scrapped that idea.
Now we at least got updated about what’s going on behind the wall, and it seems that Destroyers are appearing behind there.
If not playable, we might at least get behind the wall soon.
I don’t think they were “scrapped” so much as pushed back. The race has way too many assets to not be an eventual addition to the game. They already have an established racial city, a more-or-less defined culture, and appearance variation options that go back to the first game. And that’s ignoring their popularity with the fans and long history in the world of Tyria and with the previous game.
I’ll grant that to make Tengu playable, the remaining parts are the difficult ones – armor skins, animations, racial city, racial skills, and personal story – but they are still relatively close to playable status.
Oh, and then there’s the heavy-handed hints that the Tengu are simply waiting to see if they can trust the other races. The only context for these quotes would be that Anet programmed them in after “scrapping” the race to imply future playability.
Hmm…
“They’re waiting to see if they can trust the other races”.
Would destroying the tower earn their trust?
After all, the roots are spreading toward the wall.

Is it just me, or does the tengu seem to react to the Tower of Nightmares?
There is a platform from the tower leading to Ireko Tradecamp.
Ireko Tradecamp is being attacked by the krait, tengu fight back and they get killed.
And the tengu with actual names seem to have had their dialouge changed.

Hello.
Inside the Tower of Nightmares I keep hearing soundtracks that I haven’t heard anywhere else in the game.
Have there been made some new soundtracks for the patch, or are they just soundtracks from Guild Wars I?
And where can I find them?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zkT2uZAGA – GW2 – A world of wonder
It doesn’t matter what they do at this point.
New games are coming out, and seeing as how we just get the same stuff over and over again(with the exception of SAB, Queen’s Jubilee and the Tower of Nightmares) people will go to new games to get a fresh experience.
The biggest counter towards this is the fact that the games that are coming out either have a subscription model, or that they may not have all the “basic” features GWII has like level/reward scaling, everyone having the same stats in PvP, not having mob-tagging and proper rewards for world exploration.
I personally am interested in Wildstar. It may not have all the things I like about GWII, but it will be a fresh experience nontheless.
And even if I end up not playing it for that long, it will still have been a more fresh experience than what ArenaNet seems to have in mind for this game.
New races, professions, maps, quests etc. seem to be off the table, and it is these things I desire.
Releasing the Tengu as well as their starting zones would do wonders.

You have to give her 50 spore samples before she turns into a merchant.
But you can also buy toxic boxes in sPvP for 750 glory points. They have a high chance to drop the keys, and each chest gives you a few spores.

Vayne, you can change the title by pressing ‘edit title’ right under it.
On topic:
If by “endgame” you mean dungeons and raids then I have no interest in it. If I wanted that I’d play WoW.
My kind of “endgame” is mostly PvP. I just want new maps with new modes, new skins, new titles and fluff items like finishers and endless tonics.
So I guess “endgame” in the sence of locking content away until you reach max level is a 1 to me.
I love how everything in GWII is relevant content due to the scaling of pretty much everything.

One half the fanbase gripes that armor sets are too revealing and that they should cover up more.
The other half would rather run around half naked.
Which is exactly why we need to be able to do this.
People who don’t like it don’t have to do it, but those who want to do it will be happy.
Just because someone doesn’t like being shirtless it doesn’t mean they should decide wether or not someone else should do it.

There are so many restrictions that really hurt the game, and they would be so easy to fix.
1. Allow us to hide everything except pants.
2. Remove armour restrictions so we can mix and match all armour types.
For example you could use medium armour pants, a heavy armour breastplate and a light armour hood.
The choices would be endless.
These two things alone would create more variety than you could imagine.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zkT2uZAGA – GW2 – A world of wonder
The worst thing is that the devs are completely silent on this.
I understand that something this small will never be a priority, but in a game that is based on cosmetics this will only hurt the game.
They should at least give us their stance on this subject.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zkT2uZAGA – GW2 – A world of wonder
play human or norn light armor and you can see the whole beauty of your character
This is just sad.
I want to look at my character because i made it look a certain way.
Not because I am forced to due to the fact that the armour designers want females to walk around almost naked.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zkT2uZAGA – GW2 – A world of wonder
I do have a concern that once get the option to turn off armor, half the population of female characters will end up running in their bikinis.
Actually I believe that the biggest reason why so many people play females in skimpy armour is because it is the only way for you to actually see some of your body.
I recently remade my ranger and because I was so tired of trench coats I tried to make a female human. It felt terrible as a female human/sylvari so I went charr.
Thankfully some of the armour I have in sPvP takes the tail into account.

Why do we have these amazing character models with tons of costumizable body features, but are unable to see them due to the armour?
Why can’t we hide more of our armour, even if only just our chest armour?
Being able to hide more armour would solve so many problems.
Most of the armour in this game looks the same, but if we could hide more items it would create much more diversity.
Take a look at my ranger, then tell me if you think more people would play charr if we could look like this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zkT2uZAGA – GW2 – A world of wonder
Hello.
First of all I would like to say that I am relatively new to sPvP, so I apologize if this has been discussed before.
I recently got hooked to sPvP after having tried it a few months after launch and then quit.
The reason I quit is because of lack of information about the progression available ingame.
Had I not gone to the Wiki I would never have known what gear I could get at whatever rank.
When I first started I had no idea about rank-specific gear or how to get them. I just saw this huge locker full of gear that I was unable to obtain, and since I was not a fan of the starter gear I stopped playing.
The Wiki is now something I use all the time whenever I have the slightest question about the gear, so I would like to ask why this information is not available in the game?
Would it be possible to add a description to the armour sets in the locker, specifying what rank I need to be and what materials I need to use in order to get them?
And this will probably make me sound extremely stupid, but can someone please tell me how to get free/paid tournament tickets?
I won a tournament but all I got was 5 trick or treat bags, and I can’t find any answer on the Wiki.
