Is there anything stopping Anet from buying items on the BMT to artificially make the item more rare and expensive?
Not sure about BLC’s, but there are plenty of other areas where it would benefit their bank account to do such things. There is no law against it, and they’ve never told the user base they wouldn’t do it, so.. yeah.
I have a perm bank, tp etc and I would buy one of these for sure! Although if they did make it for example: 800 gems to unlock per character I would not buy any. I like making a new character and not feeling required to “upgrade” them later on. I would gladly pay a 1 time gem fee for a small account sharing bag slot though. I would say probably 5 slots sounds fair. For perma gathering tools and 2 or so more things. (In my mind if you are swapping up ascended armor you can go to a town).
I would much prefer that it be a one time upgrade, but the reason for my suggestion of “per character” is because the cost per character would balance out the potential loss in harvesting tool sales.
There’s a number of oddities on the market right now (BLC, Quartz Crystals, etc.)
Makes me wonder who has access to inside info, or who is taking advantage of knowledge learned from the Beta of HoT.
While it’s limitations are arguable, I’m glad to see that Anet brought this out at least. Wasn’t my favorite April Fools thing, but a lot of people liked it.
I think that making it a max of 8 slots is a good thing. It forces players to take the tradeoff. Account access means fewer slots for that bag position.
Additionally, Anet could bring in cash by making themselves the only vendor of the bags.
800gems for an 8 slot account share bag, and you need to buy one for each character you wish to give that ability to.
So if you want 4 characters to share the same bag, you have to buy four bags at 800gems a piece.
The Living World Season 2 Complete Pack was available for a very short time before we discovered a modest issue that required that we pull it from the store. This known issue will be addressed because naturally we do not intend to continue to sell the item while it is not working as intended.
The Complete Package will be added back just as soon as possible!
Note: You can continue to purchase individual episodes, but you will not get a discount. If you wish to get the discount, please check back a bit later.
[Edited for clarity]
And how much money did your company rake in during the short time it was available for sale even though KNOWN issues had been clearly brought up on the forum in the past? It’s not like these bugs are new, Gaile.
apparently they dont want people to know the product they are selling has progress blocking bugs
extremely dirty to delete that information if you ask me
If you expect anything different from this company by now, well…there you go.
Interesting opportunity. Lucky for those in the local area.
I am glad they didnt introduce the bunny ears this week, thanks Anet.
New class for x-pac confirmed: Wet Blanket :P
ROFL
It’s a freaking My Little Pony with your guild emblem as it’s “cutie mark.”
I thought that was a great touch.
+1 to the idea of being proactive.
Oh, and inb4 toxic commentary blaming the victim.
In eight years, GW’s AFD jokes have never fundamentally affected gameplay mechanics. For that reason alone, I consider this extremely unlikely to ever happen.
And while this WOULD be a hilarious prank, it would almost certainly lead to more complaints than planes and bobbleheads combined. So even if Anet were inclined to consider the idea, the backlash would deter them from doing it in reality.
Even in standard PvE, the abuse potential would be ridiculous. Imagine Tequatl, for example. Or cheesing dungeons or story instances. And before you call that “harmless PvE fun”, consider that you earn AP from all those things, and are rewarded for your AP scores.
In the end, this would be opening a can of worms – only to find out that they’re siege wurms.
Well, for the record, I never claimed it would be harmless PvE fun. Was just a silly thought I had while reading a thread over on reddit about thieves.
If the major issues could be pushed out of the way, it would be neat to see just how fast people could kill the likes of Teq and Jormag, and how long it would take them to organize and find optimal dps.
Oh well.
Also add a caveat that instant cast skills would have a half second cooldown or somesuch, to avoid people spamming them to the point where it causes people to crash.
that’s a good point. Something that would need to be taken into consideration.
Though I was thinking WvW would be all out carnage above what it usually is, I did not take into consideration the issue of points and ranking etc. Unforunate. I had visions of small 10man zergs of dagger-storm thieves just mowing down everything (which, if you think about it, is about all a thief could really do, since they would be the only class whose main skillset was unaffected by the change.)
Also, for those that think LB ranger is OP, I have two skills to pair: Quickening Zephyr, and Rapid Fire. Ranger LB Mini-gun.
Because now may just be early enough in the dev cycle to make such suggestions…
I don’t mind airplanes.. and bobble heads were fun, but let’s cause some real chaos.
How about April 1st, 2016, you remove all cooldowns from skills and utilities (including elites).
This is a good idea, but the primary reason people will say “no” is because of a lack of control over disconnects. If you could determine that someone did it deliberately, it would be an excellent solution.
I can understand why some invisible walls are in various locations, but one that kinda threw me off showed up in a patch earlier this year.
Maybe it’s just me, in the underwater segment of Troll’s End, near the beginning of the puzzle, I’m running into invisible walls in the tunnels near where the first bend to the right is. I don’t recall them being there, but now you have to swim up and to the left side of the tube in order to get around whatever is there.
It didn’t show up right when Lion’s Arch was changed, but sometime around January or February of this year it seems.

Some JPs (and rich metal veins and a few other nodes) apparently use two different timers: the reset (midnight UTC) and a minimum elapsed time between opening. It’s been in the game since probably launch. Not sure if that is by design or it’s a bug.
Weyandt’s/Sharkmaw is one of the chests affected. You should be ok by about 1 am Eastern. When I encounter it, I usually just blow off the node for that day; I prefer to miss a single chest than try to schedule my next appearance at the node.
If you read what I had posted, you’d see that with several alts at the same jumping puzzle I had two different results.
I have several alts parked at Weyandt’s jumping puzzle in L.A.
At around 5pm Eastern time today, I logged in on them and opened the jump puzzle chest.
Now, at 8:30pm Eastern, I’ve gone through again, and only half of my characters found the chest reset properly, while the others showed the chest still being open.
You should always be open to having your opinion changed.
Pot, Kettle calling on line 2
From your own OP quoting Gaile.
TL;dr: This change is coming, as soon as it can be scheduled and prioritized. Naturally, some matters that are higher on the priority list but this project will be scheduled as appropriate.
I’m not sure what more you are asking for since Anet stated it will be worked on at some point depending on priority. Maybe they should delay HoT to work on female animations.
I am asking them to “flip a switch” and restore the animations exactly as they were before. (Hopefully it’s that easy).
Ahh, the age old, it’s as easy as flipping a switch argument.
Click yes to create the perfect MMO
Except that if they coded their software properly, it really is about that easy.
+1 for OP. The removal of the animations vs. the mini issue just pours salt on the wound. Besides, the animation removal stinks of more than just a so-called bug as it is. It’s time for Anet to either fix it or openly state that they removed it for other reasons (and have the guts to admit what those reasons were).
Forum is broken because contractors did a bad job. Nobody at ANet can fix it, so they’re probably going to eventually just scrap it and switch to a new forum software.
Whoever these “contractors” are need to give up their day jobs and do something meaningful in life, because these forums are a disaster.
There are well known forum software systems that are used all over the world and some …person… at Anet had some obsession with re-inventing the wheel. At the very least they should have chosen their contractors more carefully. The people they hired obviously were better at selling their service than actually providing it.
BTW, you have got to love how some people try to pull the “childish” card whenever anyone disagrees with their POV.
That reaction is just so very grown-up.
Sure it’s not projection, at all…
Actually a big part of the problem you’re running into is the very common misconception they hold that Arenanet and all it’s employees from the monetizers down to the janitor are pure as driven snow and incapable of doing anything that would remotely be unethical.
You can’t win against them when they see Anet as benevolent gods who can do no wrong.
You can do the promotion stuff, or you can just vendor/delete them.
Rest assured that the very Tuesday after you’ve gotten rid of them, Anet will do something that rockets their price to 3 or 4 silver a piece.
*edit: yeah, some personal experience there may have tainted my response. lol

I use a Logitech G500s, as I am less inclined to use as many thumb buttons, but still use the three that it has (main one is bound to “dodge”).
I went to the G500s from a Razer Naga Hex.
The Razer’s middle mouse click failed on me after roughly a years use. So far the Logitech has been solid.
Grind gold and buy off the trading post. You can get them on rare occasion by having a level 21 – 30 character at a jumping puzzle, as laokoko.7403 suggested, but the amount of time it will take is substantial compared to how quickly you could just farm gold and buy them off the TP.
While there are a nice number of choices for nodes, there are some that are missing still. It would be nice if Anet could fill those gaps.
Example: There is no node available through any means that provides you with a tree that produces hard wood, and there are no iron mining nodes.
Yeah, dyes don’t have anything to do with T. charges.
yet
They didn’t put that functionality in there on accident.
Any response that doesn’t worship at the alter of RNG being the only thing in existence will immediately be dismissed as conspiracy or lacking evidence.
Seriously people, if you want quality items STOP BUYING THINGS.
Every time you say “well this isn’t very good, but I bought it anyway!” the only thing Anet sees is that you bought it.
They would sell you an untextured box as a mini so long as you bought it (and I wouldn’t put it past them to try it!).
Sport Sunglasses
This. As a helm skin, not some stupid “outfit” tonic or whatever.
Ah, I remember when I first discovered cynicism. Memories~
Just so you’re all aware, you’re not automatically smart for being cynical. Nothing in the world is that simple, and you should do yourselves a favor and stop thinking it is.
The same can be said about condescension.
Will fixing minions create a substantial increase in gem purchases from users?
There’s your answer.
Ok, that explains what I was running into.
The only reason I can see for the delay is to get people to log in more often. Really pathetic that Anet has to go to those lengths to meet their shiny numbers.
Are jumping puzzle chests once every 24hours based on last open, or are they based on daily reset?
I prefer Mystic Scam, myself.
Anet stated in their post about this change that they knew ahead of time there were a small number of users who were going to be affected.
Let that one sink in folks, it’s how Anet operates. No matter what the situation, if they feel something should be changed, there is a threshold of some sort of “acceptable loss” when it comes to popularity.
We’re just numbers to them. :/
Combining rares has a chance for an exotic that might be a precursor.
Combining Exotics will get an exotic that might be a precursor.
Make sure you are using the right level of weapon as well. I can’t recall the math but the average level of the 4 items you put in has to be above something like 77.
Crafting has become little more than power leveling.
Thanks for all the answers guys i think i will be going for a more PvE.
If you are going to be doing primarily PvE, there are a few options. Some are solo, others need a group (dungeons, fractals).
As was previously mentioned, “world completion” is a lengthy task that has some benefits such as allowing you to get to any waypoint in the game at a moments notice (this is good for when you want to get to a zone boss fight, or catch up with guildmates, etc.). You also get some decent loot along the way as you finish zones.
As you go along you might want to look a bit more into how different stat combinations affect your gameplay. Learn why “zerker” is the “meta” and so on. A set of exotic armor and weapons is enough to get around without a problem, but eventually you’ll want to customize.
If you aren’t averse to it, you can start crafting as well. Work your way towards 500 in a crafting profession that benefits your character(s). The long term goal for crafting would be either a legendary, or crafting ascended items.
Other things you can do in PvE that take time and effort:
-Build Mawdrey
-complete all jumping puzzles
-find all the diving locations
-pick a champion and learn to solo it (note: with many this may be difficult as the mega-server tech looks to put lots of people into the same zone)
-Hop on the world boss train for a night and pick up some loot
There are a number of lore related things as well, but that’s not an area I go into, so I won’t comment there.
You should try every locked dyes from your Dyes panel to see which one appeals to you the most. I personally like every single Enameled Dyes in the game because I always find a niche use out of them. But beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
The biggest problem I see though is that the preview panel has completely different lighting than in world.
I’d love to see a couple lighting options for the preview panel, like: Omni/day/night
Soon to come to your friendly gem store :p
Yeah, and the way Anet does things, it’ll be 800gems per emote
And I’ll point out that these emotes should be standard and come with the game, not via some gouging scheme in the gem store.
GW2 is a great game, but in this one area it is lacking severely.
If this game had half the emotes that City of Heroes did, it would be a vast improvement in that category.
I’m indifferent about the whole April Fools thing, but the “film effect” really caught my eye. I love the feel it gives to things. Would I want it around permanently? Heck no, but it might be neat to see it pop up in options sometime as a cinematics tool for those who like to do those sort of videos.
And the old sunglasses as well please.
I don’t see how a character wearing sport sunglasses in battle is any more game breaking than Miniature human beings, quaggan backpacks, or SAB weapons.
Last I checked I was at 360 on number of completions of the achievement
I sincerely hope that Arenanet also has someone that, at the least, occasionally goes through and actually buys gold from these sellers in order to get a handle on what new methods they are using to circumvent the myriad of protocols that are already in place.
While I would never engage in it myself, I know people outside of GW2 that have in other games, and it shocked me the lengths the sellers go to in order to get around the usual checks and balances.
inb4 “sample size too small” whining.
OP, thanks for posting. Good to see the potential difference.
