maybe because you’re not a TES player?

Pretty sure that I’ve spent more hours in the TES universe than most other games combined. If you try to whisper a character named Vivec in GW2, you’ll get me. No I’m just about as hardcore of a TES fan as it gets…

That being said, ESO doesn’t deserve to be called a TES game.

There’s probably no footprints because if you had a legendary main-hand as well it would use the footprints for that.

And you think the effect of it is mundane? When that thing is wielded it turns into a giant pulsing forcefield on your arm… Hardly mundane.

ESO is a bit of fun now that the sub is gone and most of the major launch bugs are fixed. However, the things that keep me from playing are these…

  1. Cyrodiil is the only PvP in the game, and if you’re a lower level, you’re useless. No structured, battleground, or arena PvP is unforgivable, especially when Cyrodiil is so huge, and it takes forever to find good fights. As a big time PvP player in MMOs, this won’t do for me.
  2. Level grinding, so I have to get to lvl 50, okay, that’s fine, but then there’s a bunch of other veteran rank levels that are even harder to get? What? I want to be competitive, not feel like I need to grind PvE for a couple hundred hours just to be useful.

In short, ESO is great if you LOVE PvE (dungeons and raids are good, questing is as awful as any other game), but it’s the worst MMO out there if you like PvP. That’s why I’m sticking with GW2 as well. Little grind to be useful, great SPvP, easy to get around in WvW, and hell even the questing here is the best I’ve seen!

Most likely it’s just the “Enable Camera Shake” which got reset to “on” with this patch, while you had it off way long ago. I know that I am getting way too distracted with it constantly on.

Nah I’ve always had it on, it was rarely an issue either way. Having it on in first person makes everything much more visceral though. PvE is actually fun now

Anyone fought in first person yet? Especially in melee combat it’s extremely visceral. Your camera moves and jumps with every swing…it’s AWESOME! Not recommended for combat, Hah! It’s seriously like a whole new game! I’ve never seen the camera jump like that in first-person melee combat in ANY GAME ever…. It’s absolutely a great experience!

I wouldn’t use it in PvP or WvW because it does limit your vision… but holy hell PvE is going to be so much more satisfying now! I just want to run around killing random mobs all day! Getting to see the enemies up close is amazing too.

Why dont you tell me how I have 0 knowledge. Or do you always just jump into threads and spout random statements? Everything I said was correct and true.

Okay.
This is a player, with almost 16k AP(15 733AP at 10:23).
He believe that only, I repeat, Only, Power Ranger with longbow or Lich Form(Elite) Powermancer is able to defeat Turret Engineer.

Such experienced(based on amount of AP which takes time to achieve), doesn’t know that knockback on turrets is a trait, and implies that each turret is equipped with it all the time.

For such experienced player(16k AP), while opening a thread and asking PvP community to “Lets talk about Turrets”, he only one-sidedly throw the pluses of such build which make him cripple in PvP Arena.

What’s more, this player demands a Thumper Turret which basic range is a Radius of 240, to have it’s HP nerfed to match HP of Rocket, Rifle or Flame turret.
This indicates that such experienced player(16k AP) is unable to realize that Thumper Turret’s high HP is directly connected to it’s job and it’s position which in fact takes a direct damage from melee enemies due to very short attack range.

Additionally, such experienced player, doesn’t mention even a single weakness of such build, which I believe, is caused by lack of knowledge about this build and even whole class, and therefore, he’s unable to take proper countermeasures toward such build.

I would like to ask this forum administrators to take measures to reduce that toxicity caused by constant creation of such threads which in fact, are a sole problem of those players who refuse to learn to play and what’s more demand changes that destroy build diversity for classes.

P.S – Hi, I play warrior, d/dmancer and p/p engi :v

When did I ever say I didn’t know it was linked to a trait? It’s pretty implied that I meant the trait should be nerfed…not sure how you didn’t see that.

Secondly, when thumper turret makes all melee builds useless against an engi camping on it, that’s too OP, and it needs to be able to be destroyed in a reasonable time.

And they do have a weakness, range, and that’s ONLY if the point doesn’t have many LoS options. Ranger and Lich form are the most powerful range zerk classes, so that’s why I mentioned them. 1v1 that’s pretty much their only counter, again, only if there’s little LoS options, and anyone who says 1v1 doesn’t matter in SPvP hasn’t PvP’d much.

It isn’t turret utilities that are imbalanced
It is supply crate

Supply crate is fine the way it is, it’s the turret death knockback and thumper HP that are the biggest OP factors.

Why people who have zero(0, null) knowledge and experience regarding Engineer’s skills, traits and design of the class, demand nerfs for it?

I vote for IQ test upon thread creation regarding what they want to complain about.
It’s absolutely ridiculous that people who have no knowledge on a matter are allowed to cast their vote and have an impact on such important matters such as nerfs.

Make this two changes and you will never see a turret engi again (I have no problems to remove the turrets from game. Do not like AI builds)

Just like you never see a kit engi? Or a PP engi?

Who cares if fewer ppl play turrets, there needs to be fewer ppl playing turrets because they’re so stupidly unbalanced.

Lets talk about Turrets

in PvP

Posted by: No Walking.6349

No Walking.6349

Engi turrets… This NEEDS a nerf, and everyone knows it. You don’t want to fight on point because you get rooted and knocked back into oblivion. You don’t want to attack the turrets because they knock you back when you kill one, not to mention the complete waste of time it is to attack a thumper because of it’s high health. You don’t want to attack the engi because chances are they’ll knock back/root/kite till the turrets weaken you enough to be an easy kill. Basically, unless you have a power ranger on your team that can spike at 1200 (only if the engi doesn’t LoS), or a liched power necro, then you’re SoL.

Why is this allowed to happen? It’s an absolutely ridiculous imbalance that needs to be fixed now.

  1. remove knock back on turret death, 4 knock backs (7 with supply kit) + thumper knock back + rifle knock back is absolutely unforgivable… a better alternative is to have a 1 second daze on turret death, or have a random condition applied.
  2. lower thumper turret health to a normal turrets health, there’s no reason such a strong turret should be this durable

Make those two changes, and turret engis will be completely balanced. As of right now though, the state of PvP is an absolute mess with them…

Revenants also have upkeep skills, which you may remember from the original Guild Wars. Certain legends have skills available that will cause you to lose the ability to regenerate energy or even put you into a degeneration state while they remain active. These skills will last until you run out of energy or toggle them off.

…each legend includes a package of skills themed to that legend and a specific play style. In that sense, each legend will feel very distinct; you will choose each one with a set purpose in mind. Each legend’s skills are designed to be very visual. From a glance at the skills used, one should be able to tell which legend is being invoked. Each legend has its own color, style, and theme.

Better at controlling their character, better at reading enemy moves, better at reacting, and get more exciting in-game moments. There’s a reason why all the big game that get streamed to millions are PvP, because it’s where the dedicated are.

Looks a lot more like a Dervish class. Engineers are pretty much the same thing as Ritualists.

Channeling the power(s) of ancestors, heroes, spirits, and legends of the past is pretty much what Ritualists were in GW1.

GW2 already has ritualists… they’re called engineers.

Lay spirits, lay turrets

How do people not see this? Revs are going to be more dervish mechanic-wise for sure.

I’ve been telling people this for ages, I don’t know why people find it so hard to wrap their heads around a simple concept.

  • The races need power to fight the dragons
  • There is power in the magic of the old gods
  • The races begin to use this power to fight the dragons

or

  • The races need power to fight the dragons
  • They find a way to use the power of the dragons
  • The races begin to use this power to fight the dragons, like using the power of the old gods

It’s totally sound from a lore perspective. The introduction of spear weapons makes it all the more likely too.

1. Some rangers in WvW can stay invisible even longer than thieves now? How do they do it? It’s not indefinite is it?

2. Some ranger got me revealed out of nowhere. He wasn’t even close to me. It happened multiple times, and obviously, all the escape mechanism just do not work anymore. At that point it’s green light for them to nuke.

I just ended up spamming Death Blossom ( D/D #3, yup it actually had some use tonight) and ran away with no hp.

But still, how the hell do they force a reveal on someone? that’s kind of OP I think.

Dervish seem unlikely given their lore, and would likely be limited to humans if they ever were added into the game.

Dervish the Next Class?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

No Walking.6349

I think Dervish will be the next class to be released. I personally feel the lore can be made to work, but if you don’t think that way, then at least a dervish equivalent (perhaps calling upon the powers of the eternal alchemy with further study of the dragons instead of the human gods) will be what is next.

Maybe Taimi in her studies of the visions and Scarlet’s notes will find a way to harness that power into a dervish-type class. Instead of turning into avatars of the human gods, we’ll turn into avatars of the 6 elements of the eternal alchemy! Considering all the dragon drama going on, I feel this is a perfect fit.

All the other classes from GW1 have their roles filled. Assassins are Thieves, Ritualists are Engineers, Paragons are Guardians, Monks are everyone, but primarily Eles and Guards. The play-style of Dervishes is the only play-style not already covered by something in the game, so I feel that they (or their lore-friendly equivalent) will be the next class.

Thoughts?

Guardians have similar playstyle to Dervishes so that role is also covered.
A Dervish had to rely on loads of enchantments to be effective and Guardians rely a lot on boons to be effective so they are very similar

Guards don’t rely on removing those boons to be effective though. Dervishes would stack enchants, burn their usefulness, and then remove them to cause other effects. This is unlike anything we have in GW2 right now.

What exactly about Dervish playstyle is not already covered? Or are you simply referencing the visual style of robe-wearing, scythe-wielding magical melee fighters? Visual style alone is not sufficient to create a whole new class.

My main in GW1 was Dervish, I know the playstyle well. Building up enchantments, then removing them to cause damage and effects. Evoking power of the gods (or alchemy elements) to help in battle. This isn’t already covered by any other class in GW2.

Season 1 zerg contents were always buggy and ANet couldn’t keep up with the number of bugs they had to fix on each release. So they went back to more solo or small group contents which is less buggy because easier to QA. I doubt we will see ever contents like season 1 anytime soon. Also they are focusing more on the lore and back story fillers which honestly I couldn’t care less about…but at least we have less bugs…

I don’t remember any bugs during Season 1 at all. Them not wanting to work as hard seems like a bad excuse.

The updates for season 1 were SO much better than this season’s. There we had Lost Shores with the Karka event, Flame and Frost with great events around the world and the new bosses in a dungeon, SAB, Dragon Bash, The election, the Jubilee, new dungeon, new world bosses, updated world bosses, EOTM, battle for LA…. Seriously Season 1 was amazing and had TONS of very memorable and fun content.

Season 2 is just to blah. Every 2 weeks we get a couple more story missions, and every 2 months we get a new zone to farm in, which are exactly the same kitten farms.

Anet, go back to the format you used for Season 1 ASAP. Not only was the content better, but it was much MUCH more memorable. I used to look forward to logging on every 2 weeks and getting ALL the achievements because each update was so starkly different. Now… I can hardly be bothered to step into PvE at all.

Dervishes to make a comeback?

in Lore

No Walking.6349

I can see sylvari converting to the faith of the human gods. But why would asura, charr, and norn?…

The gods have been mostly absent since Nightfall 250 years ago, game time. So it could be said that the dervishes lost their god-derived powers at that point, and learnt how to channel the essence itself without using the gods as intermediaries.

So, for example, a GW2 version of the dervish would become the avatar of life instead of the avatar of melandru, the avatar of death instead of the avatar of grenth, and so on. That way would make as much sense as having an elementalist charr, for example.

That’s a kitten good point that I hadn’t thought of as well. Good argument for the Dervish coming back without the gods coming back. Although, I feel the gods will come back eventually in GW2’s story-line. Makes no sense to have them disappear unless they’re going to make a big re-entrance.
