I’m yet to read a competent argument as to why dueling is a toxic / bad feature.
There’s so much more stuff to touch about revenants before UA needs to be adressed.
I don’t like how brainless the skill can be, but it’s not the be all and end all of why revenant is so good.
I’m usually happier when I get a thief on my team than when I get double DHs or double necros.
If you can kill druids in 1v1 period, you’re not playing good druids. And that applys to every class in the game.
Against good druids, stalemate is the best you can get.

Yes, druids are very weak to proper +1 during a match (which is why they’re usually ranked somewhat average by proteams ), but going 1v1 against them at far in the opening is never a good idea.

for me no ( i don’t play ele often ) . the reason is simple . if you can not go through diamond skin with your direct damage it is a problem of your build…. too lower direct damage .
That’s not true. Anything that isn’t an hybrid condi / pwoer like viper rev is blatant hard countered by diamond skin.
Condi necro, inge, burn guards, etc
The current iteration of tempest is keeping many condi builds from being viable.
No balance patch until March would be insane. I’m sure we’ll get something in early february.

The funny thing, Thief is arguably as good if not better than DH at a competent level.
It needs a complete rework basically. It should have gotten reworked / removed in the 23rd June patch realistically.
Is it actually dodgeable? I didn’t look into it a ton yet as I don’t run SR anymore cause S/D works fine without it but I didn’t think the gyro reveal could be dodged. If it can, that’s really nice to know.
yes, rev reveal range is only 360 … scrappers is only 600, and both are avoidable by either distance or dodge.
the funny thing is, scrapper has a trait that if you hit a stealth opponent in stealth you’ll reveal them. therefore, avoid shadow refuge when a scrapper is around, use like cloak and dagger…
The meta scrapper build doesn’t use the tratline where this trait is situated.

You’re legendary but you can’t play more than 1 or 2 classes decently ? Sounds fishy to me…
Season ends, ranked becomes unavailable for a bit like it was first month of HoT, balance patch, then new season starts.

I kinda wish we had a reveal ourselves. Fighting scrappers I get annoy by how powerful sneak gyro can be.
Why is that thing 20sec CD and is instant cast ( allow to be used while CC, can use it as an emergency way to prevent stomps on their team mates ) it is infuriating.
Even when I play my own engi I feel like it’s too good. I hope for balance sake they had a cast time to the gyro itself in the next balance patch.
The idea is that it’s really difficult at first, and getting masteries makes it easier and easier. You’re " mastering" the jungle environment, learning as your character learns it.
It will take a bit, especially for Tangled Depth ( when you get there, think of the map as 4 different areas of events that are connected by the main underground chamber ) but in the end, the maps make sense and it becomes pretty fun to move around.
Quickness was never intended to be this easy to access, and making it a boon is even worst with durability runes being a thing.
Remember when the main way a class could access quickness was an utility that had drawbacks as massive as " Lose all endurance", or " take double damage" ?
I recently got 10k AP, which got me a free Total Make Over kit, I used it on my warrior, ended up with something pretty great with one of the new face.
Now to wait until warrior is viable in sPvP to play her again I guess =|

Yes to the first quote, less so to the second.
Yes, thieves were great for a long time, that much is true.
However, their use in PVP was moreso because they were the only class that could stealth decap (and the quickest to do so at that), rather than being a decent class for solo combat or small scale fights overall.
They were “mandatory” because if you didn’t have one the thief on the other team would backcap everything without having a counter. It was game utility rather than class advantage.
Thieves may have seemed to be (and, I concede, were) good back when they were the only class able to fill the role they
were forced intobut their imbalance against other classes became apparent when two thieves were on any one team. At that point the game became a 4v5 due to the thief’s lack in skirmish potential.The only thing that has changed between that time and now is that other classes can fill the thief’s role, and the thief now has reduced effectiveness against the other classes due to the bunker meta.
The problem was always there, the new meta just exacerbated it.
Did you play during the S/D glory days ? We were the BEST 1v1 class around, no contest. The meta was determined by picking classes that could survive to the build, wasn’t even about beating it.
We had a few OP period in the middle of being great and meta.

And Malyx revenant who use that trait have 35% boon duration in sPvP… You get tauned for almost 5sec.As a thief, if I try to open a revenant normally ( with steal ) I get taunted by the trait because of the daze on my steal and I die if I don’t sutnbreak. I have to headshot > stunbreak and then open, it’s kinda ridiculous.
Think about it in comparison to the ranger trait. The ranger trait put the CC on the pet instead, doesn’t cc you back, but has a LONGER CD than the revenant one.

Wait, no I’m stupid, wrote that too fast. It’s condition duration, but they have quite a bit of it on the Viper amulet.
Taunt and fear been conditions was quite a mistake in my opinion anyway. CC should not be conditions.

They show up more during the night or in the first 10 minutes or so of the day. Try to hold control on your keyboard when wandering around, it will show the text over them from farther away, makes them easier to spot.
They also have a chance to reward 25 parts instead of 3 and that happens pretty often.
Try to google for " Large arship cargo", sometimes there’s big ones that swpawn on the map at specific places that gives even more parts.

Yes, but they could maybe make it so that it’s recognized that you hit through invulnerability, and reload finishing blow, like it happens when you just wiff.
Maybe, but when it’s something tied to the how the engine works, easy answers are sometimes really hard to implement.
I’m sure they fiddled around with this kind of idea when they realize the skill could get invul. You’d have to be programmer on their code to be able to answer that correctly. :/

I always advice people Sylvari because unlike humans, it’s really hard to make a cliche or boring looking sylvari. There’s a lot of customisation options for it.
But if you plan to make a sylvari ranger already, or maybe you don’t have many humans, you can still go human. It’s just harder to feel unique as a human thief, everyone wear the same stuff.

I often get into the problem that people in my team blame everything that went wrogn on me while I play thief.
People are so blindfolded by the fact that there’s a thief on their team that they can’t recognize their own mistakes anymore.
All they are are defensive pack runes essentially. Both runes have a 175 of a main stat, Some form of boon duration, #4 bonus is 3 offensive/defensive boons, #6 bonus is +125 of a complimentary stat to the main stat.
The issue is that durabiltiy is flat boon duration, and pack is only swiftness.
Durability should be protection duration only, not every boon.
Please buff warriors.
No. Just no. No one needs more buffs, we need a lot of targeted nerfs to revert this stupid power creep. All classes need to be brought down to the level of warrior and thief.
I agree with your idea, but I think the right power level is a bit above what warriors are right now.
So nerf everyone quite a bit, don’t touch thieves, and buff warrior slightly.
OMG I am so enranged with ANET. Boo Hoo Mesmers won a few matches, nuke nerf them for a couple of years again.
I need to go spend my money on Black Desert or Star Citizen because the devs seem to have a personal issue with Mesmers.

Make the traps last less time.
Dodging them is only half the reward since they still say on the ground active for like 8sec each.

Daredevil sounds like it counters DH hard with its extra dodge, instant dodges, cripple and root cleanse, fast attacks, and some boon stripping if running sword/dagger. Maybe practice is different.
On paper, daredevil soudns very good agaisnt what a DH does.
You can activate and then dodge the traps, get in on them when they use longbow and stuff.
In practice, its really hard unless it’s a clean 1v1 and you have lots of open space. Traps are big, and they cover tight areas very well ( side nodes ). Even if you dodge away from the Ring of blades trap or the Longbow 5, they still restrict your mobility a lot because you have to go around them since you have zero stability.
Runes of the Trapper gives them a split seconds to move around into a more favorable spot everytime they drop a trap. You need to dodge the trap, but if you dodge in the wrong direction while they’re in stealth, they gain quite a lot of range on you.
Those few things makes it just pretty hard to avoid the Trueshots that come every 4seconds. And if you ever get hit by one trueshot, it’s over, you’re dead.
Low health classes should be bump to medium health and then balance a bit accordingly on ele and guardian defensive stuff.
11k health without vita is just silly. The difference between high and low health is just too big in this game I feel.
The main issue I have with S/D, especially with Dash, is the lack of damage is really noticeable. You’re the most mobile and evading build in the game, but you hit like a wet noodle.
Hey atleast the dadedevil eltie can be pretty good at unlocking stale fights.
I’ve made a few matches snowball into my team’s favor because I got an Impact Strike instant kill on a surprised bunker mesmer.
But that’s really pushing and trying to find the simplest thing to be happy about.
The moment you guys realise that 80% of meta builds die from condi spam, Where in most cases its the only way to win vs them.
With reapers and dh gone i will be king of pvp on my maruder engi :P, problem is there are still many ppl playing dh, and thier CC is kittening insane…
Until you realize every team runs a tempest which makes condi almost irrelevant unless you have insane application like Malyx revenants.

Can’t wrap my head around this thread. Revenants, Scrappers, Tempests and Druids(Even bunker Mesmers) are far more effective than a cool-down cannon that is DH. Bruisers are running this meta, not Zerkers. I feel like I have to keep linking this video showing people how to deal with traps so here ya go…

DH isn’t especially tanky, it doesn’t have good health regen. It doesn’t have many effective defensive abilities.

Scrapper and revenants are bruisers, DH doesn’t even compare to that.
Yeah it’s stupid. Your best bet is just to play until you hit those lucky win streaks so you go up a tier which you can’t lose afterwards.
Once you’re in Ruby, just give up solo queueing.
