Win 10 pro, 64 bit client.
By picking “Log out” instead of “Exit to desktop” (or clicking X to close), it seems the settings are saved for now. As soon as I use X or Exit to desktop, settings are once again lost.
Something goes wrong with the Local.dat file when choosing exit.
Sice of “Local.dat” for me at the moment is 57692 kB.
Take a look at pigs or devourers. Wyverns are useless for the rest of GW2s life.
They don’t buff the crappy pets ever. They nerf the good ones so that they are more in line with the crappy ones. Pretty much how they reasoned with longbow/shortbow – in order to make the longbow more attractive, they nerfed the shortbow. Anet logic.
and seemingly totally randomly attack 1-5 not responding, autoattack stops even though target in front of me, target gets lost, no new target can be focused,… extremely uncomfortable. since the patch, and yes, i fixed my settings
I’ve noticed this as well. Something seems messed up big time, even though issues like this one may be hard to notice for many people. The game just feels more unresponsive since the patch.
Still bugged. Whatever you devs did to mess this up, revert it please.
Yeah, it might be a lot of things. I used to have artifact and/or texture issues on my R9 280x card, and nothing I tried ever fixed it (drivers, downclocking, different settings). For me the solution was to flash a new bios into the card, and now everything works perfectly.
hmmm might as well squeeze the meat.. milk might come out too i guess…
that magnificent meat of his, juicy.
That charr is female
That’s what you think…
Tiger is solid. It’s really good for Remorseless builds.
Bristleback, the structure buster, is by far the best pet overall when it comes to damage against targets that moves around a lot, and is also very good against stationary targets. Oh and don’t forget the aoe attack! QZ+F2 and watch them targets melt!
Same. Fix it, annoying as HELL.
I cant locate my gw2.exe on my computer help

Ok, so there is a gw2 folder in C:\program files (x86) \guildwars 2 and there is a gw2.dat file and bin folder, crash.dmp, gw2.tmp. should i remove those to a new folder under c>game>gw2? currently i just moved the gw2.dat and im downloading the game again. and after it finished downlaoding look for the gw2.exe and remove it to the new folder you told me to?
only thing im confused now is if the game after its downloaded and its not in temp where else do i look for it because it doesnt give me an option to save as it. it just downloads automatically. (i have a cd of the game)
No need, you can use that folder. Just make sure that the gw2.exe file is located in the same folder – C:\program files (x86) \guildwars 2
Also, you really should check where you download stuff to. Best it to set your browser to ask each time imho, then you have to select a location every time you download something.
Or maybe people actually are just unreasonable?
Or maybe people are different?
Haha! kittening owned, Kal Spiro. But I guess you’re just another one of those ppl that’s going by “it’s my way, or the highway”.
The 64-bit client certainly increases the GPU loading very noticeably for no apparent increase in FPS.
Hm, will have to check that out later today and see if it happens on my rig as well.
Is it ruining your play experience having a single line of text on your screen that can be easily ignored? It will probably stay up there for a while. What does it matter?
Speaking for myself…
Ruining? No. Talk about hyperbole.
An ongoing nuisance and reminder of how garbage the UI customization is in this game? Absolutely.

I’m not 100% sure it is fixed. At least for mobs. Was killing the Treasure Mushroom in the Glade yesterday, and a bristleback was doing his kitten est to kill me.
I was a little higher up than it, and not one of its spikes hit me . . . they all flew through.
Yah, the fix seems to apply only to pets and not enemy mobs.
Which is good, because bristlebacks would be a nightmare if you couldn’t “cheese” them with elevation. Constant streams of high-damage tracking projectiles from a mob that takes ages to kill even with full offensive stats. Good luck with that.
Whirling defense & Sublime conversion!
how many customers use windows 10? maybe 20%
vulkan is cross platform.
I have high hopes for vulkan, whenever it will be truly available for end users. The predecessor of Mantle + OpenGL combined, if you will. Big names in the industry like Valve seems to favor it over DX12. We’ll see how things turns out.
Sounds like you need a better cooling solution for the NB then. Also, check for dust inside the case.

Jana.6831 give it a rest, and accept that some people want the option for this. Stop acting like a parrot.
I play GW2 because it is not WoW!
M’kay.
On my system I run a frame rate limiter set at 60 fps (through MSI Afterburner). In vanilla, it’s more or less always maxed out @ 60 fps (not on world boss events or in wvw), and the gpu is working at maybe 60-70% or so.
Correction. Make that value 40-60% in vanilla. Quite the change…
Imho, (ab)use the attack rate – use “on crit sigils” (and traits) with low cooldown. Oh, and make use of that bleed.
Other than than, since they nerfed this weapon into oblivion (compare: revenant #1), it’s pretty lackluster. The nerf to the attackspeed some 3 years ago still hurts…
I find Electric Wyvern pretty good for a support pet for the amount of CC it does.
I haven’t really played with the electric wyvern yet, but I hear a bunch of ppl swear by it. Please enlighten me about this pet!

Op – very nice video!
In your case, if you are able as you say to keep an eye on your gpu temps, I don’t think this is hardware related, but more likely a driver issue and/or specific setting you might have done in the nvidia control panel.
Firtst things first – please go ahead and take a look @ your nvidia settings – do you remember forcing anything in there as a global setting to all of your games?

I’m wondering when it comes to these large scale events/wvw zergs, exactly what it is that’s causing the cpu to be so taxed. I would think it’s because the structure of the game currently is that everything needs to be sent to each client, which means that my computer somehow have to take into consideration what each and everyone around me is doing.
Now this means a kitten massive amount of data that needs to be processed on my side when there are 20+ players within close proximity to my character.
If this turns out to be true, question is, how can this be remedied?
Imho, there should be some predictions made here. Servers should stand for most of the calculations, and they should be able to somehow predict things that may or may not affect another player. Maybe this is already the case, and what we actually see is bad server performance? But then again, if that were the case, there shouldn’t be such a wide deviation (?) between clients – in short, different cpus shouldn’t have such a wide range when it comes to performance.
And then, yet again, it doesn’t seem to be the case that it actually is such a wide difference in performance between different cpus when it comes to these cpu taxing events – most everyone suffers from bad performance in these scenarios.
It’s interesting to theorise about. It sure would be interesting to hear a lot more from the engine programmers on these forums, even though they may or may not be able to sort things out, only to hear their side of the story. They got enough data by now to see where the bottleneck really is, when it comes to GW2-

Do a search for Gw2.exe – you should be able to locate the folder and the exe that way.
Wonder why it’s bugged for some, and not for others? Did all of these some days ago, worked flawlessly.
HoT seems to be far more taxing on the gpu compared to vanilla game – more effects in general, so I would think everyone will notice a decrease in performance there that’s not bound to the performance of the cpu.
On my system I run a frame rate limiter set at 60 fps (through MSI Afterburner). In vanilla, it’s more or less always maxed out @ 60 fps (not on world boss events or in wvw), and the gpu is working at maybe 60-70% or so.
In HoT fps drops down to 35-45 fps in many places, and gpu usage is right there at max (99% is what afterburner shows). So it’s not so much a cpu issue in HoT, but rather gpu. In large events it’s again the cpu that limits performance, and combined this can turn out really bad when running around there.
Anet should provide more options when it comes to their graphic settings imho.

False positives are becoming a real issue these days. Developers of antivirus software really needs to step up their game. Tbh, they are causing more issues by themselves than the viruses they try to stop.

Create a shortcut to (if you don’t have one already), pin to start. It should appear on the start menu by default, but Win10 start menu have a lot to wish for still… There are alternative start menus you can install if you find it lacking.
Yes, and it also reduces duration of those conditions by 33%.
I mean with my i5 3570k 16GB of 2400 RAM, and a single GTX 970 I’m over 60FPS everywhere in the game at maximum settings
You must never have played wvw or participated in large open world events with loads of other players.
To make sure you get the most out of your cpu, you can download and install Process Lasso, and enable “Bitsum Highest Performance” mode. This program got lots of nice features, including simple ways to disable processor core parking, which may cause issues for some setups. Give it a try, I highly recommend this program for ALL Windows users.
You need a piece of software called CCleaner, and then go to the registry tab like shown in the picture below, and scan and fix the registry issues.
CCleaner is a bad suggestion with issues like these. It won’t fix the issues, and many times will do more harm than good. Generic, automatic “registry cleaners”, avoid them like the plague.
The damage meter is the one that was posted about on Reddit. It isn’t perfect but it is within about 5-10% of the real value.
No, it isn’t. Especially when you’re applying lots of different sources of damage. That one can’t keep up, and it’s a poor excuse of damage meter, probably one of the worst I’ve ever seen.
Ok, something I’ve been wondering for a while, but never got around to ask, nor test really, but what the heck does the text in bold below actually mean?
Your pet inflicts weakness on their target(s) when executing a command [F2] ability.
(This effect will only occur once on each target affected by abilities.)
Endurance regeneration decreased by 50%. 50% of hits are Glancing Blows (50% damage). Stacks duration. Weakness (4s): -50% Endurance Regeneration, 50% Fumble (Unrestricted)
I really hope that sometime in the future, that not only will they change the meta enough to a state where you won’t need SoS and similar skills, but rather get rid of skills of this type completely. It’s the most boring skilltype that exist, and I really wish they won’t be needed ever again. But that’s hoping for too much I guess.
(edited by OGDeadHead.8326)
Do you think they even care about your complaints? As said above – because money.
They are going fast in a direction many players don’t like. Get used to it, it will only get worse.
The whole system is a joke atm.
Yes, next attack coming out of stealth should be granted opening strike for the pet, possibly attack of opportunity.
I am using 2 2560×1440 monitors in AMD eyefinity for a total resolution of 5120×1440.
Two monitors? How’s that working out for ya (well, with the exception it doesn’t at the moment). Where’s your character at when only using two monitors?
You talking about where it is on the screen? Well you actually can move the camera to the left or right of the character using a slider in options.
Ah yes, forgot about that. But also, center of view with only two monitors would be right between the two monitors, right? Never seen one play like that…
No, just git gud or go home, wanna be a casual? Go play dungeons, raids are for the big boys!
Lol! You mean for the big(gest) nerds?

How can you create different identifiers for the same item? How can you NOT fix that bug in minutes?
Because reasons. We’ve seen it on several items. Quite amazing they still manage to mess these things up.
lol if you really want some fun with staff 3, eat enough strawberry ghosts to get the effect and you will see your toon just run really fast rather then turn into a wisp.
That can happen anyway. Yesterday I had it happen on several occasions, particulary in LA.
Let’s see some more support for our favorite machine gun! o/
The more you talk about it, the bigger the chance it gets the attention from the nerfhammer. Let this thread die.
I don’t think this improvement will have the desired effect. When there are a sea of health bars like in a big pack if mobs it becomes hard to click on the health bar of the mob you want.
I can’t argue against that, it would all depend on how they executed it. I’ve actually never played an mmo where you have to struggle so much against the ui; being able to actually pick the mob/enemy you want to target in a chaotic situation can be very hard sometimes.
There’s been a bunch of suggestions how to implement this, like thresholds before the health bars even show up and things like that. Maybe there shouldn’t even be actual healthbars, but something else.
I want to be able to help out with my heals on ppl that actually needs it, instead of throwing them out like candy, randomly (even though I still help out by granting grace of the land on the ones my heals lands on). Then there’s also the argument about healers not being needed in game modes other than raids, but that’s for another discussion, so let’s not go there please.
For healers to be able to do their work properly, we have to get the means of that. Something added to help out with that is what I would want.
I fear that they will nerf its F2.
You can be sure they will.
Optional or not I would rather the devs focus on bigger issue is that so hard to understand.
Qol changes are nice but not at the expensive of other things that need to be fixed.
So, here comes this argument again – “would rather have the devs focus on bigger issues”.
I’m sure the devs are perfectly capable of deciding themselves what they should put their focus and effort on, that’s not something we decide for them anyway (if we did, maybe this class would be in a far better position, don’t you think? Maybe the performance when there are lots of players in a limited area wouldn’t be so bad?).
Thing is, we don’t decide anything what they should focus on. This lame argument always comes up when someone asks for something, which to another person is of no interest – “why waste resources on that, when this is far more important”.
Let the community come up with ideas and requests, but leave that argument out of the discussion, just to try and further show for the rest of the community what a bad idea it is.
So if we leave the discussion about what the devs should focus on out of this thread, there’s really no good argument against this idea if it was to be implemented as an optional thing, right?
Use skill canceling for sword #2, and you can improve on tricks you can do a lot. There are places you cant use the jumping back on, thats where this technique shines.
You are in the kitchen making a cup of coffee with your character standing idle in a safe spot. You start to hear combat noises from your PC and come back to observe that guy dragging a mob next to your character so it starts killing you. You faceplam, kill the mob and watch the scoundrel move on as if he was totally innocent.
I hate that guy.
So you know he can be reported for griefing and receive an account suspension for that.
Rofl! Gooood luck with that.
