Do we really want another living story based on a merchant?
Not that I don’t like sky pirates and sky merchant.

To answer this…
The fact that people WANT things only offered as a chance from a chest, and the fact that they’re WILLING to take that chance, they give up all rights to complain once they click that button. Knowing full well of what you’re getting into, and still doing it, speaks volumes.
Sorry my friend, your “scam” argument holds no water.
Smart players will vote Evon for Council!
Smart players know the Thaumanova Reactor fractal will mix chaos energy with the Mists. Creating unstable space time that would have effects outside FOTM.
Thaumanova has more potential to permanently affect the game world. It affects
areas outside the fractal.
Abbadon just lets players see something that is in the past. How would this change the game as a whole?
People who love dungeons may pick Abbadon. While people who do more PvE may pick Thaumanova.
Fall of Abbadon is just one dungeon.
Thaumanova Reactor could have unknown effects that affect things outside the fractal. The possibilities are endless!
Isn’t every player one?
If Ellen Kiel wins the election. She will support important Fractals of the Mists research into the Thaumanova Reactor explosion by the end of the year.
Anthony Ordon Game Designer “I wonder what kinds of things would happen if you mixed the Mists with chaos energy…”
This post is for players to speculate the effects of chaos energy from the Thaumanova Reactor explosion being in the Mists.
*Will it affect just the Mists or bleed out in the open world?
*Could it create time space fluctuations?
*Will rips in space/time allow enemies or Gods the enter the open world?
*Will rips in space/time allow players to enter God realms?
Speculation here can only help to give the developers creative ideas for Thaumanova Reactor.
Why do people keep assuming that the Fractals will actually change anything at all? There is nothing at all that points towards the fractal being able to influence the real world.
It’s not, it’s speculation. What the original post, well posted is what could occur within the mists and because of that, could effect the over world.
Just not an entirely well constructed voter bid for evon.
Then again, anything that looks like that has potential to be catastrophic.
Anet hasn’t made the content yet. So we can influence the story by speculating. If the developers like the idea.
It matters, but we all pretty much know exactly what happened at the Mouth of Torment.
Nobody knows what happened at Thaumanova…yet.
Don’t care, we want the God of secrets back.
Rips in time and space from the Thaumanova Reactor. Could allow the Gods to come back from the past.
I think I have a better idea, how about we bring back the gods and maybe then they could allow us to go watch the reactor explode.
I just said how the Gods could come back.
Quantum fluctuations in time and space. Would create areas space in the game world where the past can interact with the peasant.
If players pick the Thaumanova Reactor. That affects both Space and TIME. Then their would be a possibility the Fall of Abaddon would still come into being.
It also MAY allow the gods to come through some rip it time, to reappear it GW2
You are however forgetting that both the Fractals are stuff that have ALREADY HAPPENED, so any effects would have already happened.
No, because their might be pockets of unstable time. Creating parallel realities for the Gods to enter.
It matters, but we all pretty much know exactly what happened at the Mouth of Torment.

Excuse me but the top three skins listed on the TP are,
1. Ghastly Grinning Shield Skin – cheapest sale price 325 g
2. Greatsaw Greatsword Skin – cheapest sale price 215 g
3. Scythe Staff Skin – cheapest sale price 150 gAt current exchange rates 1 g costs 0.53 USD to buy through gems. So in RL dollars the top three skins listed on the TP right now cost,
1. Ghastly Grinning Shield Skin – cheapest sale price $172.25
2. Greatsaw Greatsword Skin – cheapest sale price $113.95
3. Scythe Staff Skin – cheapest sale price $79.5So tell me again how skins don’t cost $100+? There is also the fact, only a small handful of players ever spent $100 chasing after the limited edition skins. Most spent far, far less then that and stopped because they either got their skin or called it quits because their “spend limit” was reached.
Lastly, but most importantly, IF someone does spend $100 in gems to chase after skins or hell converts it into in-game gold to get one of the three skins I used as examples, who are you to tell them they can’t? How is it a scam? The amount of money a person is willing to spend on these skins is indicative of how much value they place on the skins. If they like the skin enough to spend $100+ chasing after them, that’s really their business and hardly a scam.
You forget that these skins are just pixels on your screen. The skins are out of reach for the majority players that are responsible with their money.
No matter how much a gem store skin cost. There is no in game prestige for obtaining them. Gem store skins should be easily accessible. Skins as rewards through gameplay are the ones that should have prestige.
The question is: Which one with impact the game more outside the fractal?
I think that is the Thaumanova Reactor.
AnthonyOrdon Game Designer: I wonder what kinds of things would happen if you mixed the Mists with chaos energy…
Add more elemental world bosses it the game.
Thaumanova Reactor as a fractal, could lead to unknow events that impact the whole game world.
Abaddon may be a good dungeon but that’s all it may ever be.
I say vote for Kiel because the Thaumanova Reactor may influence the game as a whole. If Anet wants to write it that way.
Abaddon can be made later.
Anet should create a zazzle store.
You still want to open those scam chests?
It’s only a scam if you’ve convinced yourself that you’re guaranteed something you want.
Exactly! I really, really wish people would stop assuming that we ALL have a problem with RNG. We don’t! Maybe because we win, consistently, or maybe because we understand commerce and economics (and thus know directly selling skins benefits no one) and most importantly, probability. But whatever the reason, we don’t all have issues with RNG and thus pegging a vote for Evon to a vote for RNG is not a sound strategy for Kiel supporters.
Wrong! There is mostly junk in the chest. It’s the small change that a player will get something good. That keeps people buying them.
Anet is taking advantage players who can’t control themselves. Gambling is a illness for some people.
Gambling is not an illness. Gambling ADDICTION is an illness. Just like game addiction is an illness. Saying gambling is an illness is like saying gaming is an illness. Gambling is just an activity, a game of chance nothing more.
Unless you think people occasionally trying for a lucky dip or entering a raffle is an addiction, this RNG related arguments have gone off the deep end. I mean, essentially that’s all the skins in RNG chests really is: a lucky dip or a raffle. Most lucky dips and raffles have 1-2 good prizes and the rest are crap. But people still enter because they want to support the cause for which the lucky dip or raffle is being held, not because they have some sort of a illness that compels them to. In this case the RNG boxes are a way to support Anet and Guild Wars 2 and people are happy to do it.
If that is not a way you want to support Anet or GW 2 that’s fine. Nobody is telling you to but in turn, you should really stop telling other people how they choose to support Anet and GW 2. Especially by invoking groundless hyperboles.

There’s just one issue I have; how do you balance the puzzles to scale between 1 and 5 players?
Focusing on the solo player would create puzzles that require no teamwork, while focusing on groups would make them impossible for a solo player.
Of course, a way around this would be to have a number of puzzles, but tailored to specific numbers.
Multiple dungeon paths with more rewards. Also, when opening one path it would lock the other path behind you. The paths will converge in some spots (like to fight a boss).
One to five player dungeons that require solving puzzles to advance through them. Puzzle dungeons should have multiple paths. That change every time the player to the plays the dungeons.
Few enemies would be in these dungeons. Mostly just puzzles, jumping puzzles, and bosses. The dungeon should be very long and complicated. And, allow players to save their progress.
Rewards: Every major puzzle and boss in the dungeon would have a reward chest. Rewards in chests have to make up for less enemies than in normal dungeons.
To some degree this is already in the game with mini dungeons. But they could be more complicated. Similar to the dungeon puzzles in FF10 and FF12.
I have a great suggestion. Please stop putting Jump Puzzles in your game. They are too frustrating to complete. I know a bunch of Anet fanbois are going to include in the comment section below “But we love JPs, they’re great fun”. Well, let me give you a more accurate portrait of what your players think about your jump puzzles. I have not met 1 single person in game who enjoys them. Not a single one. My guild hates them, my gf hates them because her computer can’t make quick precise jumps. The people in there trying to complete them hate them. They’re annoying, and they’re lazy programming because you should be putting real content in your game like dungeons or actual puzzles. I write this as I sit in your new Kites Over Celadon JP, which you made just about as bad as the Mad King’s Clock Tower. Look Anet, seriously, cut it out with the jump puzzles all ready and listen to your fan base.
Actually I was going to say. “F-U, bring on more jumping puzzles!”
I don’t understand why businessman = devil in everybody’s mind.
Evon/Anet is not a good businessman. He rips his customers off (RNG Skins)
without delivering a quality product for their money.Anet should take the skins out of the BLC’s, sell the skins outright, reduce the price to 25-50 gems each, remove items like permanent bank access from the game.
Well, he does give pretty accurate descriptions on each of his RNG boxes. “chance”
What the kitten is a chance? It could be 50% or .00001%.
This is such great news!!! I don’t understand why people are so mad that they will be able to make their characters more powerful. I plan on playing this game for years to come and don’t want to be stuck in exotic gear 2 years from now, with a bank filled with hundreds of cosmetic skins or back-pieces. Cosmetics are cool and all but what are players gonna do years from now with all those cosmetic pieces, keep spending money on bank space? I think ANET is making the best choice, and unlike most mmo’s they are making the progression of ascended gear nice and slow by first releasing rings than a few months later accessories, and so forth.
Anet will have to make some kind of wardrobe for PvE.
I don’t understand why businessman = devil in everybody’s mind.

doode, did you READ the latest news by ANet? gw2 is my first MMO ever. and after the treatment we get here? i don’t think get the same enjoyment out of any other MMO out there, let alone one that doesn’t have a sub fee.
and if you want to stick to “lore”, Evon does not create the chests.. which contain RNG. he but tempts you with the ability for a chance at goodies by selling they keys. and if you are the one that falls to temptation, don’t play the victim.
Evon is only a NPC! But the NPC that promotes the RNG chest/key in game. And campaigns on selling you more RNG skins.
Evon is a representation of Anet RNG skins for sale!
GW2 can make money by selling skins outright. Or they can put tokens in the chest to go towards any RNG skins along with the skin tickets.
I don’t understand why businessman = devil in everybody’s mind.

Anet has yet to call their boxes gambling. If they do, then this becomes a mature rated game.
For those stating the waypoint cost reduction is the factor to vote Ellen Kiel.
REMEMBER THAT THIS IS TEMPORARY AND WON’T MATTER AT ALL AFTER 4 WEEKS
How much do you plan to waypoint in 4 weeks? And it’s a reduction cost (10%? maybe 20% even 50% won’t matter on the long term).
At the end even if the other option (keys) won’t save you much, it isn’t like you’re going to save tons of money with Kiel’s offer…
Will you sacrifice not facing Abaddon in one of the most epic battles in Tyrian history (epic enough to transform a sea into the most famous desert) just to save 20 or 30 silver total? Really? You can get that in a blink.
Vote for interesting permanent content. Vote Evon Gnashblade!!
RNG is the reason. Protest by voting against RNG.
Abaddon may look great in GW2. But you already know the story. I’m sure it will get made one way or another.

RNG is RNG.
You have a chance at getting what you want, and ArenaNet makes this very clear every opportunity they can get when dealing with these items. Don’t blame the sellers for the buyers’ bad choices.Las Vegas is required to post the odds of their gambling machines.

How is there no one? I buy them!!!! and i tend to buy 25-50 keys each time i feel like opening the boxes so for those that notice that their black lions chest is sold on TP that might be by me XD
Do you use real money to by those 25-50 keys. If so, I don’t care if you’re a billionaire. It’s a huge waste of money.
Agree and give us the eta on other promised mini games.
Mounts should be limited to how fast the player can run/sprint. Any faster and mounts can bypass any mob.
Also no large mounts. Only smaller non living mechanical/magic/steampunk mounts.

So, there are people who want to vote a Kormir-esque heroine that has done nothing but die in a dungeon and let us do their job? Nice, and still, price reduction on WP’s for just one month, oh god thanks to Ellen now I will be able to save up 2000 gold with that and she will give us a Fractal of a reactor that had an accident and we don’t give a fly about it.
Instead, Evon gives us a Fractal about friggin’ Abbadon. Just enough to gain my vote.
AND discounted keys.
You still want to open those scam chests?
A vote for a third party candidate is like throwing your vote away.
We need voting reform.
Vote Evon for voting reform, vote Evon for progress.
This mentality is what’s wrong with the US. Good popular candidates are overlooked in the media. So the establishment candidates look like the only real candidates running.
If I remember correctly, he said that these were not American elections. And he went on to explain that the contestants might have a few dirty tricks up their sleeves.
I don’t remember him implying that players’ votes didn’t count; on the contrary.
I remember the republican primaries. The dirty tricks there surpass anything arenanet can come up with. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_WBo4sfmi4
The BLT has sold RNG boxes such as Rich Dragon Coffers and Southsun Crates. Lets not forget that!
Yes, and the Southsun Crates were shipped in from Southsun, most likely originating from Kiel or one of her cronies. And the Dragon Coffers were provided by the Lion’s Arch Council.
Evon just runs the marketplace, he isn’t responsible for the items listed within.
I’m not RPing when I say vote against RNG. This is a to tell Anet we hate RNG skins in the gem store. Evon is just a NPC. But anet made him a symbol for RNG chests for sale.
RNG is ok in other parts of the game but not to sell skins.
If a group is so dependent on players with full exotics. Some of the people in that group are less skilled for always depending on the best stats.
Abbadon will most likely be fractal in time anyways.
So just wait for it and vote against RNG skins in the gem store.
I suggested kites in anther post. But I didn’t want them to be a cheap toy. I wanted real kites that fly high and can do fun abilities.
Anet makes BLC’s and BLK’s! Evon is sells them in game.
NO!
Cosmetic only inspection window. With a view of player armor and weapons, with no stats. Also a introduction message. And Guild information.
While I have much love and respect for Kiel, there’s no way she’s going to win. I had planned on giving all my votes to her… up until Evon promised discounted Black Lion Keys.
How dare Evon do this to me! Kiel offers nothing compared to the discounts off of the much sought after items. I must vote with my wallet, no matter how much it pains me. There is no other option at this point…
This brings up the following questions: Is there a way that Kiel will change her promised offers? And would it be OK for us to start a petition to have Kiel offer more to (cough)buy(cough) our votes?
BLC RNG is a scam! A vote against Evon is a statement against gem store RNG skins.
Look. Evon Gnashblade isn’t responsible for RNG mechanics. Blame the asura for that one. Who else would mess with random generated numbers in the Eternal Alchemy?
I don’t approve of Evon personally, but he is offering more than Kiel. I think all this push-back against him is starting to be more about species bias than politics. The Searing happened so long ago. Charr are people too.
I blame Anet for RNG in the gem store. Evon sells them for Anet.
Thanks for this post. There have been many people who have requested something like this, and I don’t want you guys to think we are not listening. We have been, and currently are, exploring what would need to happen in order to make this a possibility (it is more complicated than you would think), and while I cannot guarantee that it will happen or when, we definitely understand the draw of playing activities with your friends are not dismissing this as something that will never happen.
How about a lobby system similar to the one already in SPvP. Most of the work is already done in SPvP.
This lobby would not be tied to the SPvP one.
Also could a dungeon lobby work using this model?

It’s not blaming the NPC! It’s giving Anet/Ncsoft a message. That players do not approve of gem store RNG for skins.
Where is the better 3rd party candidate? For the two parties to ridicule and call crazy.
And to cheat out of the election.
When they introduce player houses. It would be cool have control over whats on our walls. So we can do something like this.
Open up Claw Island from the personal story. By integrating it into a future living story.
For future personal story quests. Their need a way to identify what ark they are from. Example some PS quests would be labeled “Zhaitan Ark”.
A add a lore section to the hero panel. Every time we hear lore from NPC, read a book, or find something to do with lore. It would be unlocked in the lore section of the hero tab. Achievements can also be created off of finding lore.
(edited by Onshidesigns.1069)
. Nowhere were stated that anything related to our choice will go out of fractal, so what kind of change You are looking for? And if Anet will make something to tie new fractal to current living story events, I really doubt it will happen only if we choose Thaumanova. This simply lacks logic.
