Everyone in the past drink watered down beer. Because water sources were to polluted to drink water.
Maybe the game world is the same way.

Short Story: The Trek of the Zephyrites
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/community-news/short-story-the-trek-of-the-zephyrites/
Why can’t this lore be explained in game? Most players who don’t visit the website.
How putting this in books, or in game mail. Or a scavenger hunt where player must collect book pages.
So you want a ONE class game?
Classes have different strengths and weaknesses for a reason.
Anet needs to add more open dungeons to the game though the Living story. They would be larger than normal mini dungeons. More ability to explore them. Have some puzzle elements to them. And have DE’s that unlock areas that lead to the final boss.
Examples in game of what I mean: Just bigger and better.
*mini dungeon-anyone can enter and play without having to join a group. Works like a mini zone.
*Mad King’s Labyrinth
The Molten Alliance was awful if you don’t want do dungeons. It should have been it’s own zone with a “Open Dungeon” in it. The whole zone could of been underground. Then parts of it could be adapted for FOTM.
This current living story feels like it’s going to be epic. As we learn more about the merchants and sky pirates in the next few months.
Even the shrunk down version is too big when the player does not want to see it.
Balloon and Glider SPvP Races
This idea would be for a future zone based of Bazaar of the Four Winds content. It would be like Pilot Wings 64 meets Mario Kart.
How well does Belcher’s Bluff play against other players? Is it a skill based game or just luck?
Zephyr Sanctum should be a real mini. Just the ship part. That flies with the player as they run.
(edited by Onshidesigns.1069)
*Two teams
*Two flying ships
*One is Sky Pirates
*The other is the Sky Merchants
Merchants must fend off the sky pirates with their ships weapons. Until Pirate ship is destroyed.
If Pirate ship destroys the merchant ships weapons. They begin to board the merchant ship to plunder it.
Other games will have ship vs ship combat. But GW2 could be the first to have flying ship vs ship combat.
Quartz will NOT temporary content! Sky pirates and sky merchants will evolve as permanent factions with their own zone.
Excuse me, but how do you know that?
It should obvious that’s what Anet is planing. Use your imagination!
Mini games should be based on player skill. And not a computer opponent that always has the advantage.
Quartz will NOT temporary content! Sky pirates and sky merchants will evolve as permanent factions with their own zone.
You can’t start a epic story with the climax. This is the introduction for Sky pirates and the merchants they plunder. The story will evolve over 2 or 3 month. With new areas to explore.
I don’t think these factions are temporary. Anet seems to be trying hard to develop good lore between these factions.
Unlike the Molten Alliance does not have a lasting presence in the game world.
What do you have against platformer games. Some of them are really good games.
GW2 can have elements of PC MMO’s and some platform inspired parts to the game (JP and SAB). Real games can play both platform and non-platform.
Quartz will be part of future living stories.
The last two content updates tell the story of the Zephyrite vs the Sky Pirates. And I am 100% sure we see much more of these two factions and some permanent zones related to these factions.
I think the biggest problem for me is I have NO IDEA WHO’S THE VILLIAN!
The villains are the sky pirates. They have been attacking just outside the Zephyr Sanctum in DE’s.
Last content introduced Sky Pirates as a villains.
This content introduces players to the Zephyrite people that the Sky Pirates plunder.
Next content is a election. That will most likely advance the story of the Zephyrite vs the Sky Pirates.
Beyond that patch may be a whole new area?
I hope Anet makes the Zephyrite vs the Sky Pirates story a permanent one. With permanent zones to explore. The Quartz Nodes in the home areas are a hint that this will happen.
Say I’m reading a post with a lot of replies. But I just want to see the developers replies in that post. Instead of reading each page of replies. How about adding one button (show only developers replies)
I know I can use Dev Tracker. But that is still searching for the topic I want to read among all Developer posts.
The Aetherblade jumping puzzle needs a FREE waypoint in it. That can only used if the player is within the jumping puzzle area. This is needed because it’s too easy to fall to your death in the JP. And it’s not fun to keep paying for waypoints to finish the JP.
First I want to say I like what Anet did with Achievement Panel UI in the hero tab.
Now Anet need to work on the rest of the UI. Take the Event assistant We need a open way to keep parts of it open of closed. So have a cleaner UI in the right corner of the screen if we want.
Messages popping up in the middle of the UI while playing is also a problem. How about they pop up over the map instead.
Option to replace the map with Skyrim style radar.
Target display I feel is to large and often blocks view.
Gem store need a new UI too. There are too many new skins for the current gem store UI. It needs better organization.
Anet make waypoints price and gem store RNG skins. Not these NPC’s.
So send a message to Anet. We don’t want shins in gem store RNG. And we don’t want high priced waypoints (to home cities and within the same zone). By voting for Kiel and against RNG.
Anet needs to make it so we can’t open a basket that we already looted recently.
For two reasons:
*We don’t get a reward
*Players reopening the same baskets are robbing other players from looting it. For a few minutes atleast.
Sky pirates then sky merchants. See how the two are related. You can’t have sky pirates without introducing the merchants for them to plunder. Anet is trying to make lore between both groups and LA. It takes time to create good lore.
What if Kiel represents Anet and greedy Evon represents Ncsoft?
Or to be put in motion.
- ANet talks about GW2 being a living world.
Personally, I was more immersed in WoW (GW1 had the story that I was deeply immersed into when playing) because there were all these things in motion to make it seem alive.
- Travelling merchants, ships (that would actually sail, I badly want these in GW2 because we have harbors and such for them to sail to) and even the smaller things as being able to sit on chairs gave it a flavour of its own (I’d often sit in an Inn with some friends and plan an adventure to go out on, or we’d have some story for our RP to move along with).- GW2 has ships, Inns, Chairs and merchants – basically all those little things that can enhance the immersion of the player, however, I don’t feel like going to an Inn, because I can’t sit down somewhere for myself or with some friends.
- It’s some minor things, but often it is the seasoning that really makes all the difference (and I know the RP community badly wants these. My RP’ing friends – which means all of them, except one – left because they couldn’t sit in chairs or take a ship. They felt that the need to travel on foot or by waypoint destroyed their immersion completely… even I have that feeling. I’m not immersed into GW2 that much as of yet. Waypoints or walking… guess which – and a shame too, because waypoints are destroying Open World PvE).- To sum it up:
Make ships sail.
Give us the option to sit on chairs.
And yeah, put the world in motion in other ways than Dynamic Events.
(And of course, feel free to add something to the list. I just kinda missed these as I played just now)
Inns and taverns could be a bigger part of the game. They should be the to go place to find information and lore.
*I find some of them to be too small.
*needs buffs for using them
*delivery quests between them
*mini games (not just Belcher’s Bluff)
*bulletin boards with PS missions (like FF11 inns)
*bounty
*lore
*barb to hire to play songs
Travelling merchants-It would be cool to see ships going in and out of LA. And it be a passenger of one of those ships (FF10).
Waypoints- I don’t have problem with waypoints. It’s like a Asuran teleporter.
*Open World PvE is destroyed in other games (WoW) because of no downscaling.
*I have seen many players playing DE’s. They would not of played without waypoints.
For better movement. I would give the cosmetic mounts swiftness and sprint abilities. BUT it would have to work exactly to same as the players running speed!
Kiel is a vote against gem store RNG boxes.
I play a short bow thief not a stealth thief. I never even use stealth. My point is don’t group a short bow thief with a stealth thief.
This is supposed to be a dynamic world that changes. No zone should become obsolete.
1 – Most zones are obsolete because of crap drops/reward. Nothing to do with difficulty.
2 – Oakhearts are among the toughest monsters in any area, which is quite fine given that they’re non-aggressive. They only attack if you attack them. If you do that and aren’t good enough to kill them… Your problem. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. They’re still veterans and can soloed easily by any player. The ones in Queensdale are perfectly level with their zones.
3 – This is possibly the stupidest, most dumbfounding complaint I’ve heard recently… And that’s including the guy complaining about “out-maned” being changed to “outnumbered”. There’s something “special” and discombobulated about this thread…
1. Some people play fun and not grinding for just rewards.
2. I can solo 4 of these veterans and would if they spawned closer together.
3.This is a small change but a unnecessary one. You should be asking why Anet is worried about something like this. When it wasn’t even a problem to begin with.
Did I confuse you? Is it too hard to understand that downscaling exists so the whole game is playable at level 80.
This is supposed to be a dynamic world that changes. No zone should become obsolete.
Needs to be more time between pre-event and Shadow Behemoth. So players are encouraged to do the pre-events without the risk of missing the Shadow Behemoth.
Also there is not really any low level zones due to downscaling. So why remove veterans?
L O L
15chars for you being this bad at the game
I kick – kitten at this game. I want a challenge in every zone.
(edited by Onshidesigns.1069)
Of COURSE NOT! Anet promised us mini games at release. Finishing the permanent mini games needs to be done to make the other cities feel more alive.
Anet NERT veteran oakhearts in queensdale. Probably so players will do the daily veteran task in another zone.
I think low level zones like queensdale need veterans too. The problem now is new low level players are going to try to fight these non-veteran Oakhearts and die. Because they still have same HP.
Anet seems to be finishing the permanent mini games in the order of gold sink first.
I don’t have a problem with the 100 gold version. Because i’ll pay the mini game eighth pay for buying it.
Some future permanent mini better be free.
Diving Goggles abilities need to be tied the swimsuits when released.
If not pay to win. It’s another garbage item to most players who want to earn all their levels.
(edited by Onshidesigns.1069)
Black Lion Chests now have a rare chance to drop a Tome of Knowledge, a one-use item that will grant your character a level! Black Lion Chests drop from monsters all over Tyria, and you can find the keys to unlock them in the Gem Store.
Is this a pay to win item for rich people?
The next mini game is a race. So achievement farmers will actually have to try to finish to get the achievement. As long as the achievements are tied to finishing the race and not just being in it.
I didn’t liked sky pirates, because they wasn’t pirate, and wasn’t sky at all.
The final product was a failure.
It was just an introduction to sky pirates. I’m sure they will make a smaller appearance in BotFW. To advance the sky pirates story and lore.
Is bar brawl be part of BotFW?
It’s working in the video on the new map. Maybe it will be working in DR too.
(edited by Onshidesigns.1069)
Merchant in the game are just standing still selling their goods. Except they usually have no shop, stalls, visible merchandise, or a chair to sit in. And rarely have scripted movements. They look more like objects and not people.
I don’t mind holiday/event nodes in the game world. But every event including the next one has them.
What about random holiday/event DE’s? I know it’s not as easy to make as nodes. But it would make holiday events more interesting.
These are just the first armors that players get through achievement points. It’s not like they will never complete the set. Or add more styles of armor to achievements.
(edited by Onshidesigns.1069)
You don’t know if there is light and medium armor versions yet.
Medium armor could use skirts without the pants and pants without the buttcapes.
Some people need to redefine what they think a expansion is. I consider anything permanent in the living story a expanion. Even if it’s a JP or mini game.
Major expansion will still happen. They may just be broken down into 1-3 living story arcs.
Too complicated. Too many things to change. High possibility an bug could make you lose items.
Anet, I am sure has interest in taking on this project.
Reply to AlietteFaye
Full temporary swiftness is 33% I think and only temporary. It’s just fast eighth to run past almost any enemy without getting hit. I think the speed you run at should be applied to cosmetic mounts in the game now. Just make the full swiftness temporary like wth a thief. Not everyone uses WP’s to do only dungeons. Many use WP’s to get to a area in the open world, they want to play.
How is swiftness temporary on a Thief..?
And regardless, WPs allow people to literally skip anywhere in the world. That means skipping mobs, skipping DEs, skipping over any and all content along the way. Having mounts that gave swiftness wouldn’t change this.
I was counting sprint as part of swiftness. Don’t you use dodge on your theif? That extra speed should only be temporary.
Players with mounts would stick to the road to avoid getting knocked for their mounts.
I’m only against big faster than running speed mounts. I’m for smaller mechanical/steampunk/asura/toy mounts like broomsticks. Just not swiftness so fast players can ride through enemies as if they are nothing.
