I run speed runs all the time, and I think that sometimes people get angry becuase its easy to be angry on the internet and peoples time is precious to them. Everyone newbie or not should read LFGs. If you want to avoid the nastiness try not to join ones asking for specific builds. They are expecting top play out of everyone that joins.

While I don’t agree necessarily that anyone is a bad player for playing how they play. I think the “dark side” would be a whole lot brighter if we all just learned to accept the different types of groups.

Also, there are plenty of people who look fr those zerker groups expecting to be carried, and it can be quite harsh on both sides when that meta isn’t met.

The point of the activities are fun. They give you options to do other stuff but honestly if you aren’t having fun don’t do it. Also I find the Ram backpack to be quite cool so the reward is a matter of opinion.

LFG for dungeons fills very fast for most paths. Thats why you don’t see a lot of them. The only ones I often see a “ton” of listings for are the quick dungeons that people farm daily.

I dont have any character with fractals above level 3 so I cant really do the 21-30 one.

None of my guild that are on at the moment are up for fractals and PUGing them is the less preferable option to pulling out my eyes with a rusty spanner.

I get it you don’t like fractals. But how can you know it takes over an hour if you don’t have a character above three in fractals?

Also Fractals are account based progression so all of your characters are viable. The “daily Fractal” you can do just the first one of a level 1, it takes less than 20 minutes on average for do the FIRST of a set of fractals.

There are plenty of us that farm maps and make maps to do the events as intended. Last night my friend and I stayed in one map for three successful breaches in the same map. We almost always got the map full or near full by 20% with Advertising the map on LFG. There are A LOT of people who like to do the events. You just have to look through the LFG and be a little patient at times.

Every player i see is a GS user and every guardian i see uses GS over everything else even mesmers and rangers i see using GS alot. Is it that great of a weapon (no pun intended) or am i just imagining things?

My thought on this (I have no clue or care about numbers) GS is pretty. It’s large, and a lost of them are flashy. So people hang out with them equipped.

Technically, no, it’s not an exploit. Or at least it hasn’t been treated as such. But it is cheesy and quite lame, in my opinion. If you don’t want to do it, then don’t do it; if you don’t care, then do it.

Like attracts like, cheesy and lame is just as descriptive of ANets boss encounter design. If they ever add any combat mechanic beyond ‘dodge the one-shot’ then maybe players would actually play, instead of cheese, their way through said content.

This is not an ANet Problem its a game problem. A good portion of people will always search the path of least resistance. They just wanna win even if its cheating or cheesing.

Too many things are already account bound. Don’t lock more things away.

Legendaries were meant to be ultra rare items that showed your mastery of the game, making them trade-able reduced them to a high end checklist item that you grabbed if you wanted too with money you grinded. I hope they make them account bound and that acquisition is made far harder and skill based for the parts.

+1, I totally agree. THIS is why I never invested in a legendary. It wasn’t cause of the precursor, it was because anyone and their brother can have one by dumping cash into gems then converting to Gold. IMHO that is a small version of Pay 2 win. Which GW2 was never about.

You guys are forgetting the great Economic effect Legendaries and Precursors have on the game. They are a vital part of the economy thus why they have taken so long to make is so that precursor “hunting” has come out because they wanted to get it right without completely devaluing the market.

What about people that MAKE legendaries to sell them? There is a good market for legendaries and as such it shouldn’t be tampered with too severely.

Phaerim makes a valid point regarding the norn. The norn accept Sons of Svanir as long as they aren’t currently causing problems – I can’t see them excluding sylvari because they might get corrupted by Mordremoth.

To be fair there is a rather large difference between Sylvari and Sons of Svanir.

The SoS requires them to willingly seek out the corruption (and most of them does seem to still keep their sanity), while Sylvari are basically being corrupted as soon as Mordremoth thinks about them without giving them a choice and with a rather clear loss of sanity.

I want to point out that The Sons of Svanir are NOT automatically Corrupted. There have only been a few that sought out the Dragons “power” and corrupted themselves or were corrupted and we kill most of those.

Sons of Svanir are a faction who believe that the Dragon Jormag is a Spirit of the Mists to be hailed above the other spirits. the Norn do not believe them to be inherently evil.

IMO its more of a Cult than actual Corruption. The actual corruption of Jormag is the Icebrood.

Honestly I just think they have horrible RNG luck. I have gotten half that many bags in the last few weeks and almost as many Exotics. I’ve got Arcs coming out of my ears =D

People who don’t suffer chronic, constant pain, often don’t get it. They don’t understand how it wears you down. It’s an endless battle just to get out of bed, nevermind worrying about doing something productive. There are times when you can’t sleep for weeks or months at a time that make it hard to focus or concentrate. There are times when just doing the basic stuff you need to do seems impossibly hard.

The distraction of a game that comes with no real expectations or pressure is very different than a job, or something that these people would consider socially acceptable. Because if you don’t or can’t do it one day, it’s okay it’ll be there the next day.

I wouldn’t listen to those who have never lived in that situation because they can’t know. They speak from the point of view of a healthy person trying to tell people less healthy what they can and can’t do, what they should and shouldn’t do.

My wife and I have met, over the years, many such people. I truly hope those people never end up suffering something so debilitating that they’d know what others are going through.

This, so much this. Such words of wisdom.

To the others that maybe dont’ get it yet:

Try to put into perspective that you cannot put your experiences on others. What may be a small deal to you could be devastating to someone else.

Its people that dont’ get it in powerful places why people don’t take such things seriously.

Physical illness, mental illness, all of it wears on you. All of it effects everyone differently, but people should be compassionate about it all.

I wonder how much the world would be different if we loved people as much as we crush them with negativity?

I know that people want only Armor skins because you can take parts and make your own unique armor skin.

We can have both. Why does it always have to be one or the other? We’ve gotten both lately. In fact two new sets of armor were put in the game for us to earn IN game.

Also, people don’t ONLY want armor skins. I LOVE outfits. I never have to use Transmutation Charges. I can dye them all and I can wear them while I am leveling new characters, etc etc. Its great.

Both are wonderful for their own reasons.

Honestly, how many of you would’ve rather seen an expansion pack?

Living story gives us:
- Free updates
- Every 2 or so weeks
- Small amount of content

An expansion pack gives us
- Paid update
- All updates in one big batch
- Massive amount of content

Now, I don’t want to sound like an ungrateful person, but I’d rather have paid for an expansion pack. Why? Because I would have loved to see a new profession, race, a lot of new lands and more! Me and friends have been speculating the Chronomancer ever since before release. We were all very sad when it didn’t come as we were wanting to make a video series about “Back to the Future”. Alas…

If you got an expansion, I think you would still complain. You would get it done in 1 – 2 weeks then whine. But your post makes you sound ungrateful. Rather than saying, I really like the game but… then being as constructive as possible. Your post was one big whine. As we don’t know what is in store for us, in this LS2, we can’t say anything right now. You have assumed a lot.

I wonder how many got the hint dropped A.Net dropped in the beginning LS2 story. The hint was the Zephyrites are disciples of Glint. That is a HUGE hint drop.

My therapist recommended social gaming to me. I am bi-polar with severe and rather debilitating social anxiety. It’s hard for me to connect with people in the real world and even harder to hold down things like jobs because of it.

My therapist explained some stuff I don’t even understand yet but that things like Gaming are great ways to open up to relax, and to allow your mind to grow.

There have also been studies that show almost any kind of gaming activates parts of your brain and help with concentration, time management, Cognitive and Critical thinking skills. Also “twitch” gaming helps with eye-hand coordination and fast paced reaction.

So in a sense you are right there it can be therapy.

When you get really excited about an expansion that doesn’t offer new gear tiers or new level cap and you actually sigh in relief.

Thanks, all – good responses, although I’m still wondering why a destroyed waypoint is still showing on the map as contested. Shouldn’t it simply be removed from the map? I’m not trying to nitpick, but really “contested” is a game mechanic whereby a waypoint is under dispute and can be won back by the players, usually through an event.

@dlonie – you’re right – I’ve used Ebonhawke a lot for a consolidated services area, especially when crafting. Downside there is that if you need the mystic forge for anything, you’re back to LA.

Map Completion. They said they wanted to keep the map completion the same. They won’t just take it away that would mess up map completion.

I can’t find the Dev post about this, but I distinctly remember from awhile back that they said the Spoon does not take up the exotic loot drop chance. It is instead on its own table, or the table for the runes etc.

I do not have physical disabilities. But recently my mental ones have thrown my life for a loop. Lost my job, can’t find another. Things of the like and this game has done nothing short of aid me in all of it.

I love this world. I love that in this game I can talk, share, and communicate in ways I simply cannot in real life. Even after years of actual therapy, I’ve never found anything like a game that allows me to be social and not stuck on some mental spiral.

I am glad that you feel how you do and no it is NOT wrong. We all have reasons we do what we do and they are all okay choices. This game is an amazing place.

I think you all should note that the link in the OP is all hearsay. We don’t know what exactly was said it was written in the players words not verbatim and interperatation of words is subjective often.

We all have seen it time and again Anet says something and someone or many someones twist what was said to make it mean something it didn’t.

Just a word of caution, take all of this that is not directly from their mouths with caution, and even take some of that with a grain of salt. We will know more soon and “worrying” about it is silly.

Thank you for sharing your story. I never got to look at the NPE through actual new player eyes because I am a veteran. However I have made 5 characters since its inception and have found that its not so bad.

Also this game has always captivated me, I’m one of those rare people that really loved Living Story Season 1 and I can’t wait for them to bring it back so I can “netflix Binge” both of the seasons in one sitting as to me its quite fun.

I also like so much else about this game but I really like the story even if its delivery could use some work, they way they morphed it form the PS to how the LS which is now used as sort of an extension to your personal story they have come a long way. It makes me excited for the future. I cannot wait to see where the next chapter takes me.

2 things I would love to see on gem store are: Mordremoth’s Finisher and a new skin of Mist Herald Back Item Skin with Mordremoth’s theme.

I’m all for this as long as the player-base can prove to be mature enough to handle it. And Honestly I hope they never put open-world pvp in the game either. I don’t want to have my gaming messed with because someone wants to make himself feel better, lol.

But playing devil’s advocate can be fun once in awhile and honestly this was more for role-playing and goofing off that actually started as a joke in my guild that continued on. And I have really enjoyed it. Plus I love to see peoples creations around these weapon skins/theme.

Yes we take pics in Bitmap by adding to the target of the EXE the letters bmp as such;

“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -bmp
then later they have to be converted to jpegs for the forum.
BMP is only good for your collection. I’m nearing 2,000 pics now.
Something to look back on when the game becomes history in 2044.

I convert all of my pics to .png files not jpegs. But yeah, generally I try to take decent screens. My computer is on its last legs though so a lot of times my screens come out bad. These are good because I pumped up the graphics as much as I could to take them.

I like the light cultural armor options but I’d like something that looks less like a dress or a gown. Some of the medium sets are nice too.

I see you put a post in that thread. Since cultural armor won’t be put in the gem store, maybe change the request to plant based armor or outfits. :-)

I would love to know what blue dye you use to match the staff. I have been trying to match the blue of my GS for awhile but the account I have it on doesn’t have a lot of dyes and previewing them all in the preview panel become cumbersome =D

Trait System is NOT part of the NPE at all.. and was not designed for it. the Traits system was changed for other reasons. Its not terrible especially if its her first character. She’s gonna wanna do most of the stuff anyway. Most of the traits are unlocked just playing and exploring the game and those that aren’t or those that are gotten in weird places like EotM you can pick up for money.

Honestly, a good portion of traits aren’t even that game breaking for many classes. And the few traits that “make” or “break” a build are easily purchased if you can’t be bothered to go out and get them.

I don’t understand this logic at all. By the time a new player is 80 they will have unlocked several traits if they played anything like I did to level..which was exploring the open world doing dungeons at level appropriateness, doing events in zones I was already in, etc.

I’m sure the Dev’s have seen it. But really, calm down. The system we have now is not too dissimilar from this. Its not bad by any means, but its not the best either. Its got its flaws. Starting with being so image heavy and cramped.
