“What Part Of Living Says You Gotta Die?
I Plan On Burnin Through Another 9 Lives”
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mawdrey_II Here’s the Wiki Entry for it. It gives you a little bag that gives you all sorts of loots. I would imagine at the very least a blue or green for salvaging. Possibly some crafting mats. I cant’ wait to get mine. I was already making it on my alt account for the ascended back piece anyway.
No one is making you get this item. Its not needed for anything, at all. Complaining about something you don’t need is dumb. Since its not Forced. Forced would imply that you need to item to do something important… and you don’t need it for anything. Also, no one is stopping you from actually doing it other than personal reasons.
Thats an entirely different argument though being theres no Gear Check system in teh game itself. Personally, I do what is needed based on the content I am wanting to play at the time, but what I was saying is that Zerker is a niche gear for niche contents. Not everyone farms dungeons all day, and outside of dungeons where is Zerker gear absolutely needed? IMO even in Non-zerker groups the difference in clear times is a few minutes at the longest. The real key is understanding the content and knowing when and where to properly place your skills and DPS, as well as keeping up with when and where to use your defensive and dodge abilities. Dead men do no DPS regardless of gear.
This whole Zerker or GTFO has gotten outta hand and people run with it. There are places where being totally zerker is the right thing, but its not always. Also, carrying a couple non-zerkers has never been a problem for me. You barely notice in some cases. I’ve accidentally not switched gear after killing Teq one time on my Ele… Didn’t even notice until the end of all 3 paths of AC that I was still wearing my Knights gear.
Ooooh, someone’s mad! First of all this week is dedicated to releases of PvP/WvW for the Feature pack so everything they are going to be talking about is for…. brace yourself, PvP/WvW!!!! Get over yourself. You have NO idea whats in store for the other two weeks of Feature Pack Announcements. Calm your kittens and relax a bit. PvP deserves some TLC just as much as the rest of the game. I enjoy PvP a lot in this game even if I AM mostly a PvE player.
It was stated on Dulfy (I believe) that it gives random items such as blues, greens (hey free monies for otherwise useless items), Random Common Crafting mats, etc. I am about halfway finished with my crafting of it before I can tell what it gives for sure though.
‘Zerker being the only viable build is not ’play how you want’.
The encounters are designed so poorly, as to actually discourage build diversity.
Change the encounters. Change dungeon design.
And this is where you listen to other people too much! There are TONS of people who don’t run Zerker (myself included on several toons), and if you do things like Teq and Wurm zerker is the most useless stat combo in the game (Read: You Cannot Crit either of those bosses). There is plenty of classes that benefit from things like Nomad’s or clerics gears, I’ve seen some really decent condi builds as well (espcially for Condi Team on Wurm). There are plenty of places where Zerker isn’t the best stat combo and I foresee them making even more in the future.
Also, at hte person above my post, you CAN get Ascended gear form anywhere. The Ascended Chest drops come from all over the world. I even had a friend get a Zojja’s weapon box from a champ in AC.
(edited by Paradox.1380)
I don’t mind this change, I always stayed myself from buying more than my 1 tag in hopes that some day it would be account bound. Having colored tags would be kinda neat but I’m still happy with my Blue Dorito since the colored one does nothing else other than be a new color. On the price point, I am also not really angry at this, 300g isn’t that hard to obtain, and the amount of people that have commander tags already is so large that I feel its lost its prestige. Bumping its price will do well to make the new colors something of a conquest again (No one will buy the blue one for 300g if that don’t have to unless they really just like blue)
I have two accounts and find it rather fantastic for moneymaking. While my Boyfriend(who only has one) gets one set of “farming” things like daily chests in dungeons and world boss bonuses, I get two. Me having two accounts was a long story but it ended up in my favor by doing so. I have no complaints here about having two accounts. Though to be honest I think this sale is targeted at people who don’t have the game already. Or someone like me who might be inclined to purchase the game again for a friend. Also, there is Gamescom going on right now so Having a sale when you have a booth at a convention is a good marketing plan.
This makes me laugh a bit, this thread. Making these things requires a lot more than just fractals. I could say I hate jumping puzzles so I didn’t get the first one. Or that i hate crafting therefore I didn’t get other parts, etc etc. But even if I DID hate all of that, the fact of the matter is this crafting is actually fun because you do multiple different things to craft it.
Oh and before the complaints about “waiting to have fun” buy showing up 30-60 minutes early for teq. Many of us Commanders run the Champ/Event train after we set up the defense teams to kill the time. Its wonderful fun!
What is up with the Chaos skins? Glowing white…pretty bland. Am I missing something?
They are Throwback to GW1 weapons, the Chaos Axe looks almost identical to the one released in GW1. Same as the Tormented skins from awhile back. The key difference is they had to improvise some of the looks since there are more weapons in GW2 than there were in GW1.
No, it means that people who haven’t logged in and collected the shiny green star that unlocks the episode for your account will have to purchase it on the gemstore for 200gems. The same as all the previous LS releases this season.
Let’s be logical for one second. You called it. Guild Wars 2 is one of NCsofts most popular games. It’s still making money as of last quarter. No company just abandons their most popular product. We already see signs that Wildstar is slowing down and it’s only out a couple of months. It’s taken a big hit already.
So what is NcSoft going do to, really? Abandon Guild Wars 2.
Businesses plan stuff over months and even years, not weeks. Things like expansions. They make annoucements when they do when it makes sense to make them. Now if the game is still earning money at a constant rate, they have less reason to make annoucements. Anet is tracking who logs in and for how long they play. And how many players log on.
So much panic from people who really have nothing to go on. All we really have to go on is NcSoft quarterly reports, which show the game profitable, and stuff like Raptr which shows that the game has pretty much remained in the top 20 games (not just MMOs games either) since release. That’s not easy to do. ESO has already fallen off the top 20 and it’s much newer. Why would anyone abandon this game? It makes no real sense.
The problem is Anet isnt’ telling us what’s going on. That’s the problem. But you know, if Anet is still paying voice actors to do voices for content that comes out every two weeks, that says something too. Voice actors don’t come cheap. You don’t let games die and then pay voice actors lots and lots of money.
Anet needs to say something. That much is certain. Too many people with too much time to worry about what’s not happening, not because it’s not happening, but because Anet hasn’t said anything. That’s why I posted a thread about Anet needs to have someone talking to us.
But realistically, when SWToR wasnt’ doing as well as it was supposed to half the staff was laid off. When TSW didnt’ do as well as it was supposed to, a third of the staff was laid off. If that happened, we’d hear about it. It’s not happening. The game isn’t dying. There’s no reason to believe it’s dying.
Lack of information doesn’t mean that nothing is happening.
Now that you put this way, it does make sense. Still, it just seems too soon to have another break when Season 2 was off to such a great start. The frequent breaks, along with Anet’s lack of communication is leaving many people worried and assuming the worst. I hope Anet improves their communication while the release updates and news about the September feature pack announcements because it’s never good to leave the players out of touch, especially when so many are being drawn back into the game thanks to season 2.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/announcing-the-september-2014-feature-pack/ If you havent’ already seen this is 1 of TWO articles they posted today. So news sites slipped out the Mid-season break info early it happens. I think ANet communicates very well with its players at the very least as much as any other company communicates.
Uhm…. Just wait till the bugs are fixed? Its not going anywhere. You logged in and got it for free… forever.
The only Caveat at all is that after the two weeks are up you must purchase the episode to access it if you failed to log in during the release period.
Bugs happen and they are working VERY hard to fix it. You can QA all you want and still have trouble on live. I’ve never played and online game that didn’t have some kind of major bug when new content was released. You cannot possibly test all the outcomes because there is no way to simulate live status.
An easy way to tell if something is trade able in the TP, just search the name of it. If it shows no results its not trade able. Even things that don’t have any available to buy would still show up.
Wow this is crazy.. so my silly question is: You get MF Essences for Dailies and Monthlies as well as some achievement tracks… They are account bound so what do you do with them once you are capped? I am in no way rushing to cap my MF, since I don’t really care and I salvage only blues for mats (I sell greens to NPC or TP if they are more than 3 silver). But Even doing that I have over level 200 MF. Is the Essences just something else I have to throw away when I cap? =/
Why not do it for yourself? Spend 15$ a month… use them to buy gold and tada what LITTLE DR there is in the game is compensated for by your 15$ worth of gold each month. Or get like a real farmer and just move on to something else when you hit DR. Its really not hard, plus doing more things becomes more fun in the long run anyway.
Hmm, it’s possible. Though I do know after further farming Sparcus tonight that is seems is someone in the group is throwing projectiles and you are near them Beside or in front near as I can tell you can take the damage from the returned projectile. It’s rather painful when you’re grouped up. Otherwise he seems okay so I take back what I said about the GS, the rest is true, lol.
Mesmer GS DOES reflect, even tough it still hits him you take damage (i’ve downed myself not paying attention to his bubble more than once).
Also, don’t cheese the fights like Wiggins luring him to the ramp he resets often and its too easy to AFK him then causing him to scale badly. There is not “safe” spot for Pyro anymore really as he can hit you easily with his projectiles if you don’t have proper reflects. His roaming bouncing flame can also reach you at times.
I have no sympathy really. There are several guilds that organize and taxi people that aren’t even in said guilds over.
Because its not Ascended and only Ascended quality items should be able to have infusions in them. That is why they changed it. it was probably an oversight in the first place.
These Maps are capped at 75 players. 10 players at each boss = 60 people. A Few more at any of them and you have your 75. I don’t get why there is complaints about this being ‘bad design.’ Just because you can’t pay attention to Map chat doesn’t make it bad design. I means you’re a bad communicator. How hard is it to speak up in Map chat when you enter an organized run and wait to see what people say. There are bosses that can take heavy scaling very well and there is ALWAYS a place for someone if they are willing to communicate with the rest of the group. Organizing these maps while inherently seems easy, it really takes some effort and willingness by “leaders” of groups to keep things in order. You blatantly coming in without forethought of others is a problem, its not an ANet Problem either, its yours. There are several things “wrong” with this event, the scaling is not really one of them since ANet took that into account already by lowering the cap of Pavilion Maps to 75.
*Footnote: We know the cap is 75 through testing of our guild Boss Blitz Bros Organizing maps. So, yes it is confirmed the map cap is lower than the standard 150/300 people.
2) You donate 20 silver per round, you earn about 1 ~ 2 gold per round so don’t be cheap.
10 bags in a gold chest. Each bag gives between 1 – 2 silver. Where do I get the rest exactly?
Selling the contents of said bags and not salvaging them =O
If you guys looked around some and stopped being narrowminded, you’d know what the rough and general plan is for the next coming of things. That have over 300 people working on their game. There is most definitely things coming. Also, we’ve known for a long time now that they are splitting up development to be “Living Story Season, Break, Feature Pack, Break (maybe some Festival here and there like now), LS, Break, etc” You see the pattern?! Most companies take 6 months to a year to bring out ANYTHING at all. And when they do drop a new expansion/content update people consume it like ravenous wolves. Pace yourself, do something else (even play a different game as you obviously aren’t missing anything if you are this whiny about lack of updates) for awhile and you will barely notice the lack of “content” as you say. I for one was glad for the break form LS to catch up on some other goals.
For the record, there is no reason not to do something else for awhile if you are upset or frustrated, or even just bored. There is no reason to limit yourself to one game only, this isn’t “The MMO That Shalt Not Be Named” and taking a break isn’t going to set you back. and if you WANT to play GW2, there are many things in the interim for you to work on I am sure. I don’t see your name (OP) on the AP leaderboards. So, obviously you have stuff you can work on. =)
(edited by Paradox.1380)
it’s actually a very simple reason. expecting hundreds of random people who don’t know each other very well to work together is probably one of the most unrealistic expectations ever.
Works Just Fine. Say hello to my over 300 Champ boxes in about 3.5 hours the other night with completely random people.
If you’re really going to get mad over seeing someone wearing a skin you got a year beforehand, you should probably reexamine the game’s fundamentals.
it’s about teamwork. it’s about, as earlier stated, feeling the achievement. shoot, Legendaries were supposed to be the utmost symbol of prestige and awesomeness, yet you see them everywhere even more than the skins from the FotFW.
don’t get me wrong, the idea of, “you had to be there, sorry bud,” made Party Hats from RS so expensive and amazing when you actually saw one. but I cannot tell you how many people over my couple years of playing that game who were so annoyed that you couldn’t get a simple little crown to wear for fun.
it’s the same idea. I’ve wanted the Fervid Censer ever since I saw one, and upon learning that the activity to earn it was taken away a year before I began playing again I was pretty upset. same with the Horns of the Dragon. with the rerelease of this content, and the simple but lovely rewards, I now have an opportunity to earn all these items again, some I didn’t know existed.
instead, think of the little guy. not of your prestige. this game isn’t about selfishness.horns of the dragon are from the dragon festival… which is set to come back near/on july 4th…
fervid censer, to me, should have been something that said ‘i was there that time’ – they’ll probably even release another flower skin in the future, what with the season 2 of living story incoming, there’ll be more ‘exclusive’ rewards that you will have that the next person comes along and complains that its not fair that they didnt buy the game a year early and decides its only in the interest of fairness that the ‘exclusive’ item be brought back so that they be allowed to wear it, despite not having to work towards the meta achievement because it looks pwetty
They already have a recolor of the fervid. It’s called the Desert Rose and its red. Not sure where it came out but Its there and in game… so yup!
@OP: Who actually cares who has what? Back in Dragon Bash I got my shattered holo. wings and the DB Helms. When I first got it everyone and their brother was wearing the wings and helm. Now when you run around the game how many people are actually STILL using them? Very few comparatively. So my little “Snowflake” feeling still remains, I just have to wait a few weeks for the excitement of the new to wear off of others. I still, to this day, get occasional comments about my wings and helm (mostly because I scoured the lands and found dyes to match my Arah/CoF heavy Gear with the Arah Dragon GS to match with the wings and helm). I don’t care if they are given away again or not. I wear them because I enjoy them and they “complete” my look.
This is where you have to change up your builds, and maybe some of you gear and skills. I totally reworked my necro for the gauntlet. This is not a time to be “stuck in your ways.” This encounter was designed for you to have to switch it up.
Also note: Every Single Profession has a Spec/gear set that can beat every boss in the gauntlet. Some of them you just might have to change around as you go. I find this to be a nice way for them to have you use your free trait reset options! =)
I am starting to think I am the only one that absolutely LOVES with a passion Ascended armor. I just freakin love it, and everything about it. Also most of the Gemstore armors have found their way into my inventory…. I didn’t play GW1, but that game’s graphics were what made it unplayable for me. I just couldn’t play it. I never saw endgame armor but the few screens I have seen of it have just been.. eh for me.
I am excited to see this. I am excited for what’s to come next. Can’t wait to see how it all pans out.
EDIT: I just want to know what is so wrong with giving Lower population servers a chance to be part of the community. There is nothing wrong, we’re the Guild Wars 2 Community, not the Blackgate, Dragonbrand, Tarnished Coast, Henge, ETC Communities. I love my server just as much as anyone else, but kitten why does everyone wanna keep everyone else out? o.o; If you are friends with someone add them to your list, in a guild with someone then there’s no problem there’s already lines of communication open. Just right click their name and Join Their Map. If theirs is full, have them join yours. Tada.
1) I live on a server that isn’t super high in population like a BG. I prefer it this way. If I really want to do some massive event I can guest to BG to get it done. I don’t want that massive zerg feeling everyday I’m in game.
2) You are assuming that their algorithm is going to be perfect, and you will always be placed with your friends/people from your server, and then the nooks and crannies are filled by randoms. I highly doubt this will happen. Instead you will end up stuffed in a map with a few people on your friends list while the people that you actually wanted to meet up with are in some other map, then you have to go through the pain of taxing to get to them, and if the map is full because anet is stuffing it with other people…. too bad. Guess you aren’t going to be hanging out with your friends today.
It just seems so utterly awful and terrible that I can’t honestly believe they ever thought this was the solution to the problem. Unlimited guesting seems like a far better solution, or server merges, or even underflows, etc. Any of those would have worked far better than this.
I never assumed anything. This is how they said it will work… That is why they are testing it on only a few maps at the start. YOU are the one assuming since right off the bat you hate the idea without giving it a chance and trying it out. I am saying give it a chance I am excited to see how it goes, how it works, and what will need to be fixed. I am excited that I get to flawlessly expand my community and circle of friends without having to worry about what server they are on.. if I meet someone in the open world, bam I can be friends with them and never think twice if they are on another server. ON the occasions I hang out with my guild I know I will find a way to do the things I want to do with them. I trust ArenaNet knows what they are doing with this and they will make it work or scrap it to find a new idea. I am not saying it wont’ be without its problems.. but you can never fully test something until you put it out to the playerbase. But what I want to know is why my Opinion is wrong just because it’s different than yours. Because I don’t automatically hate the idea, I’m wrong? o.o; “All We Are Saying Is Give Love A Chance”
I am excited to see this. I am excited for what’s to come next. Can’t wait to see how it all pans out.

When I heard of a “feature” update I got excited. I thought… finally they are going to address the most needed features in the game. The ones people have suggested and complained about not having for almost two years since the first Beta Weekend event.
And you dropped the ball Anet.
Are the new features nice? Sure… some of the features are things that will enhance GW2 overall. Things like “last logged” in guild feature and “account bound WXP” are things I’ve seen requested for a long time. All the rest is basically Fluff content and I have a hard time actually seeing many requests for those features over the last two years.
What I can’t understand is how one of the most basic and requested features was ignored. That being “The basic ability to organize and group the way players and guilds enjoy.” Gw2 gives us a grand total of TWO ways to organize and group. Either a 5 person group or a massive zerg with no control over the size or makeup of that force. WvW is where this needs changed most, but it would be useful for PvE events as well. Gw2 currently has the worst grouping system I’ve used in at least the last 7 years of MMO gaming.
Since the first BWE players have asked for better grouping systems. After 19 months of asking they created a Collaborative thread asking for extensive feedback from players about the Commander and Squad system.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Collaborative-Development-Commander-System/first
Players gave tons of feedback and some of the most requested features were having Private and Guild only squads to allow players to organize and form forces the way they enjoy. So you can see why 4 months later when they announced a “feature” update I expected to see some C&S and grouping updates. I was very disappointed. Like many other players I find social grouping and running with my guild as an important part of MMO gaming. Something I’ve been frustrated with on a daily basis because of the lack of tools to do so.
I’m sure you have “plans” to address this at a future date Anet. But it’s your lack of priority on what players would like vs what generates gemstore revenue that’s most disappointing.
Who knows what they’ll come up with next! It’s an MMO, an ever-changing always evolving game. They have over 350 Employees on hand they are obviously working on all kinds of things. Just because its not out yet doesn’t mean it’s never coming. Programming and developing is a fickle creature… who knows what they are able to do or not do, etc. Also, give the stuff a chance before you poo poo it. It’s not even out yet.
It is possible that some of these WILL be able to be replicated under the new system. Most will probably be gone forever. Even if our pleas against this change fall upon deaf ears, then this thread may serve as a fond scrapbook memory of the good old days gone by.
Cute thread I love the creativity. I jsut want the point out what you said about the pleas falling on Deaf ears. Just because you do not LIKE the response does not mean they aren’t listening. They have explained in the other larger thread about why they made the choice to make some of the older pieces tonics. It is a system issue and this was the only way to change some of them over. It was an all or nothing type deal, and they chose to give us everything instead of scrapping the town clothes idea forever. I love how snarky you are in your “Instead of complaining lets just show off” But in almost every post YOU are complaining about the tonics. If you wanna show off your looks that’s fine and great and I think its wonderful, but your snarky comments about the fact that ANet is “Ignoring” you is just silly. They are NOT ignoring, they are standing by their decision.
Examples of them not Ignoring and explaining why they did what they did with some of hte Town Clothes: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Feedback-Questions-Town-clothes-Costumes-Combat/page/14#post3817507
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Feedback-Questions-Town-clothes-Costumes-Combat/page/18#post3823361
That doesn’t sound at all like deaf ears. It sounds to be they are listening, they understand and even sympathize. But they obviously have metrics over how many people use vs. don’t use town clothes on a regular basis, and they had to change the system. So they made a decision. It may not be popular, but its theirs. Don’t go on about how they don’t listen when it’s obvious they do. Snarkiness like this is the reason Devs shy away from talking to players. Even when they do, and the explain people still say they don’t listen simply because they don’t agree with what you said. Psh. Grow up. It’s happening, sure its sad, but they didn’t ignore you at all, they answered, many times about why.
As far as I know they are only nerfing the Raw gold you get.. that 0-7 silver you get for opening the champion bags… that will put output per hour of gold down about 1g/hr. It might hurt Queensdale farm, but not the others. Also, my guild and I don’t plan to stop. I love getting Champion Loot bags, the Mats you get out of them are where the real money is anyway.
I am so super excited for these changes! Everything about this screams awesome. Time to farm up a few more Trans stones! Especially since now I can get my awesome BLC Skins on all of my characters. I no longer have to lament over having so many of one weapon type (like Staves and Greatswords) since I almost always love the looks of the new ones, but don’t have enough characters that use them to justify the expense. But now with this its just another thing I can collect and change on a whim without having to get a whole new weapon just to swap the skins out! This makes me a very happy collector.
This is an interesting idea. One I would probably never take advantage of, just in case I ever get the itch to buy another character slot and make another character for kicks.
They have stated the do know how to track a lot of that. Not sure about all of it, but they do have tools to track a good portion of it.
My Speculation is they are gonna add some new features to the LFG to refine it a bit more. Perhaps make it a little easier to use and to get more people using it. Also I suspect they are going to bring it out of the beta state it is in.
I mean with that logic, I could say they didn’t give me enough advance notice back when they came out with the Wallet (since they’ve been working on this since then) and I deleted a bunch of my Trans Stones as well as a bunch of town clothes I had bought…
Thats just silly. Get off your entitled high horse. These changes are excellent QoL upgrades. Just go do some map completion and get them back.
Wait, I’m confused a bit here. What do you mean they haven’t introduced any new armor sets to get in-game wise for a year? o.o;
Mmmmk, lets take a look at this.. I’m going to list anything cosmetically wearable. I know they aren’t all Gear Sets, but IMO thats irrelevant since the most fun part about GW2 is mixing and matching sets for a unique look.
Feb ’13 – March ’14
February – New Exotics Added for Karma at the Vendors in Orr (not entirely cosmetic, but I count it because those armors all have distinct looks from everything else in game)
March & April (the patch fell near the start of april) – Jetpack Backpack and Fused Gauntlets
May – Scerelite Backpack, White Flower Backpack
June – Dragon Bash Helms And the Two Back Items
July – Zepheryite Helm, Wind Catcher Backpeices (you could buy or obtain them in game). This was also the time the account-wide Achievement system was updated and the Radiant, and Hellfire Armor Pieces were added (I believe there is a full set to be obtained). Red Flow Backpiece. Zypher Ruckpack Back was a rare reward for one of the activities
Aug – Champion Updates Happened here that put multiple different unique items from champs around the world. Twisted Watchwork Shoulder Skins
Sept – Ascended Weapons, Teq Revamped and Unique Sunless weapons added to his drop table, Sunless Dragon Wings.
Oct – Slickpack Backpack, Twilight Assault Weapon Skins (in the new TA Path), Blood and Madness Halloween Skin.
Nov – Antedote Injector Back Piece, Gasmask Skin, Air-Filtration Device Skin, Toxic Spore Back Skin.
Dec – Ascended Armor Added, Dwayna and Grenth back items.
Jan ’14 – Wurm-Themed Armor skins.
Feb – Spinal Blades Skins, Old LS Skins Released in Rare Rewards.
…
This is quite a substantial list. Many backpieces, some gauntlets, helmets and shoulderpieces here and there, many additional weapon skins…they may become quite an eye-catcher a few years in. Thats all great.
Whats a bit lacking are complete armor sets. Those karma sets where introduced [over a year ago] to give karma some of the promised value (karma was supposed to be the all round currency iirc).
From then on it seems to me that complete armor sets are exclusive to the gem shop.
I wouldn’t seriously count those “one in a million drop” ascended skins which you can’t really aquire except your RNG god likes you.
But I guess those and the achievement skins come closest to what we will get in GW2 what gives an item some kind of that “in-game-value”.Tormented weapons would be a good example of this devalue as there is no in-game effort attached to them compared to GW1.
A level 1 can simply buy them…how exciting.Personally I think the gem shop is generally overpriced for virtual items, be it with real money or gold>gem and thats my reason why I barely buy something from the gem shop apart from bag/bank/collection expansions, character slots and…that’s it.
Another reason why I don’t buy those gem-skins is because Anet tends to change/reskin skins post-release and then add the general ongoing stat/trait and equipment changes and the result is that in GW2 I didn’t “finalize” any of my characters regarding their look and most likely will only do, when I don’t have the feeling anymore that GW2 is still in beta.
So probably in 2-3 years…
See, the problem with your reply is … that there ARE complete sets released.. 3 by my count, however there are tons of other wearable cosmetic items that bring in the desired “I was there” or the “I worked for this” look. I did state that I agreed there should be more Full sets, however, as ANet has stated it costs A LOT of money for them to make an entire new set of gear. They have to make Multiple versions to fit all of the body types in the game, as well as male and female versions. That is why they are few and far between, and why I for one do not care that they sell them in the Gem Shop. You can always purchase gems with your hard-earned gold.
Wait, I’m confused a bit here. What do you mean they haven’t introduced any new armor sets to get in-game wise for a year? o.o;

That seems like a lot to me and I know I missed some in there, also I didn’t list all the new weapon skins etc, but I think this topic is silly. Also, just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean its not there. I will agree on one thing I wish there were more full-sets of armor released for in-game means… but hey I’ll take what I can get I actually really enjoy hunting the armor and weapon skins they put into the game.

Option to dye 3 colors would be nice if you wanted to only design one style wing.
LOL PWI Wings… those are used for actual flying and yes they are huge. I have those on my Cleric, lol. I’m not against more wings. I rock my Shatterer-ish Wings on my Guardian still to this day. I say, more options is never a bad thing.
I don’t have a solution for what to do with the current system of MF, I leave that to the Devs to figure out, but while I love my MF gear in the game I have been thinking about just what I personally would like to see as a re-implementation to the system. After a lot of thinking I came up with something I really like and I am interested in hearing other people’s takes on it.
Cue Drum Roll
An Enchantment System! Which can be applied one or two times on any piece of gear.
Ways To Implement:
There are more than one way to do this. Many Action RPGs already have this kind of system in place, and it works very well for “boosting stats” However in GW2 I would only like it if only boosted things that are not power gaining.
The ways I would do it would be an RNG system (they can be fun if done right) perhaps using things already found in the game, ie making Enchantment Stones from various ways of collection (Dungeon Tokens, Fractal Relics, Black Lion Chests, Big Boss Chest Drops, Rare Daily Rewards, Guild Mission Rewards etc). You could take these to a new Enchanter NPC and for a small Gold Fee (or Karma whatever, though I like the idea of another gold sink personally), you could roll or re-roll your “Enchantments.” That brings me to the next idea.
What it Would Affect:
These Enchantments cannot be stat boosting in the way other gear stats are. It should simply be a RNG list of things you can boost to better reward you for playing well. Keeping the boosts small and an consistent with other boosts already in game, a 5-10% Per Enchantment, with the ability to have 2 different enchantments at the same time. It can even be further customized by having the values random thus meaning extra work/luck to get just the right combinations of boosts on gear. A short list of things I would like to see are:
Magic Find
Gold Find
Karma Boost
Experience Boost
Gathering XP Boost
There are of course other boosts that might work as well, think of any kind of boost we have in game right now that isn’t stat buffing, and it works similarly to what we have already without losing out on your gears stats. I, for one, do not want to lose my magic find, and I would really love other permanent boosts like that stat that I can currently not easily obtain (only found in the form of Utility Ascended Stuff from the Laurel Vendor. I’m interested in other peoples take on this idea, obviously my idea isn’t completely fleshed out and as I am not a developer I have no idea how this would affect people, but I see it as a fair and kinda fun way to further enhance my gearing process and the ability to customize more than one set of gear for different encounters.
I take breaks from the game all the time. Doesn’t mean I like it any less, but hey the game has been out for coming on 8-9 months now. Always a good to take a break then when you jump in and do things it is fresh and fun! Perks is that its a free to play game so you are free to come and go as you please! =) I’m much, too much of a game-addict to stick to one game, and I don’t understand the mentality of having to “hate” a game just because you don’t spend your every waking free moment on said-game. Psh, I play upwards of 6-7 titles at any given time… I could never devote all my time to a single game I would got mad. Maybe that is my ADD talking, who knows. But, good on you for not rage-posting about how the game suddenly sucks now that you’ve exhausted the what.. 100s of hours of content you’ve gotten for 60 bucks =P
This was a great video and made me chuckle. While I don’t agree with all of your points they were fair and given obvious thought and for that I commend you, also for making me laugh. One thing I must make note of and at the risk of being called a ANet Fangirl (of which I don’t care if you call me that or not because I do enjoy and support the company and its games), is that seeing where the game was on its inception and where it is now…. is mind-boggling. Yes they still have a ways to go, anyone can see that, but, the fact that it has improved sooo much and has gone way beyond even what I expected is a testament to their dedication to their game. We may not always like what they do, but so long as they keep moving forward I, for one, am sticking around for years to come. Hopefully, with many more memories of “The Day Guild Wars 2 Died,”
They don’t have to patch to update the game in many capacities. They have technologies that allow them to make a lot of changes in the backend. Don’t expect a patch, even if there is one it will be back-end deployed with just a build that tells you to restart (which I don’t think they will have to do even). I think everything is already in place seeing as how we had a major patch a few days ago.
Yup, posted in the Dungeon discussion about this. It was.. interesting to find this. Haha, boy was the part surprised, but it was still a pretty decent fight. That poison cloud makes it hard to see Crusher’s telegraph at times though, I wish it wasn’t so thick.
The mechanics didn’t make it harder, the mechanics made it take longer and takes it completely out of the control of players. For instance the champion scavenger, it literally just sits their invulnerable for about 10 seconds and it does nothing but wastes time. Before the only thing that really affected the time factor was your dps and how well you kite which you can decide. Now its that and then a pointless time handicap.
The invulnerably doesn’t have any purpose unless something bugged, all it does is waste time unnecessarily.
I didn’t notice this. May possibly be a bug? I never seen it go invulnerable liek that, and we melted its HP in less them then normal.
The Spider Hatchlings are harder than the Spider Queen. They are tanky, there a lot of them so you can’t really their attacks dodge. Both parties I was in today, my party and I died more times to the 3-4 waves of Spider Hatchlings than the Spider Queen. My the groups I was in wiped about 3 times each to the Hatchling, the Spider Queen like I said is boring cause all I had to do and could do was stand around and shoot it with my bow. Which defeats the goal stated in the patch notes, which was to make the dungeons more challenging and fun. Standing around and auto attacking a boss with my bow is neither challenging or fun.
Hmm, Had NO trouble at all with the spiderlings, have you tried killing them a different way? I mean I’ve seen people barrel in that fight and spawn the boss right away, that is dangerous as it spawns more then may be handlable. Try killing the spiderlings already there first. Have someone in your party use a projectile block or reflect skill. There are several of them on various professions. Being careful is key here. On my guardian I used Wall of Reflection and the ele in our group was using Magnetic Aura.
The Gravelings at the Howling King, are just more annoying than challenging. Like I said before the Scavenger’s perma knock down is bs. Whats the point of being knocked down and hopelessly watch graveling gnaw your butt until you’re down? Even with the trait that activates endure pure as a warrior that allows you to take no damage for 5 seconds doesn’t save you from that perma down.
The Howling King had a problem before… he was to easy, he still has that problem. He is even easier now, but his adds are ridiculous with the number of knock downs and this is what I am complaining about. People shouldn’t be stuck helplessly in a knock down position and have gravelings dribble you around the room like a basket ball till you die.
Pull the silver mobs (kite them with the boss) into the rings of fire on the floor they die immediately (Robert said there may be some sort of bug with it though and he would look into it), I noticed no such bug, it worked every time without fail for my group. having a break stun skill or a Stability (normally these also break stuns) will help if you do get knocked. Also the leaps have a telegraph, if you see it you can evade it. They jump in groups.
Its just like situation with the Risen Purifers in Orr, getting killed by a mob of npcs is fine, but being pulled or knocked around the battle field helplessly where you can’t attack back is stupid. I personally don’t enjoy that and I pretty sure most people don’t.
To me it just seems that AC is geared towards Elementalist or Necros with AoEs.
Like Spiders Hatchlings… 3 Elementalist… pop AoE then hide behind the Wall next to stairs. Spider Queen… AoE the boss then just sand in between the circles. Part with Hodgins and the burrows, 2 ice bows each, and the AoE meteor shower thing and that would be done without much trouble. Howling King, AoE mobs, and ice bow again and gg.
If you play as a warrior like I do, and try to melee you’re gonna have a bad time. You stand around and range with a bow you’re gonna be pretty bored and you might as well of made a ranger.
I play 5 professions at 80, melee guardian and warrior are among them. Tonight I did not run AC on my warrior, but I was on my guardian and I had no trouble being up in bosses or mobs face at all. Well-timed dodges and execution of my skills coupled with the ability to trust in my group made this so fast and easy we were clearing it in 10 minutes flat. (our group comp: 1 guardian, 1 Warrior, 1 Engi, 1 Ele, 1 Ranger)
Like I said in your original post I quoted, your opinion is fine to be had, but you are speaking for yourself, not everyone hates these changes. To me, they are welcome and refreshing.
There are threads about this already, but I will say.. you’re doing it wrong if you find it that hard.
The point is not whether people get use to it or not. The point is this game lacks interesting features to keep people interested and changes like the ones made to AC makes it less enjoyable and overly long.
I am pretty sure people wanna see something along the lines of:
Short, fun and challenging.
Long, fun, challenging and rewarding. Not hard, boring, and long.
Cause this equals bored kitten off people who sit get and get aggravated for an unnecessary extended amount of time.
This game lacks things to do, basically its jps, dungeons, farm grind, map completion and wvw.
Map completion and farm grind is basically the same thing, so is dungeoning at the moment. wvw and jps are eh.
This game lacks the most important things MMORPGs need to have, the role playing and social aspect. Like there are hardly any emotes in this game, when you eat and drink stuff the animation is basically your character touches their mouth.
wvw is always the same and its boring, farming is the same on every game but the question is would I rather farm on a game that I can have fun roleplaying and doing other things or farm for a game that has nothing to offer.
Dungeons are repetitive and boring and most people only do them for the tokens or easy guaranteed 70 silvers – 1.1 gold, but now they are repetitive, boring, long, and hard which completely takes away the purpose of doing them other than for the skins.
And the new stuff they keep releasing is a difference without a difference. Seriously bored of Grinding Dungeons!? Well here is something new for you, its called FotM and its another dungeon that is 3 dungeons at once that is randomized! Oh bored of doing that? Well here have a Christmas dungeon!
If the answer to being bored of dungeons is more dungeons, then at least make the dungeons interesting not just regurgitated stuff that has a different cosmetic appearance.
I think you are only speaking for yourself. I don’t find the new AC much harder at all. The mechanics are different not harder. All it is going to take is for people to learn and get used to them. I like having actual purpose for things like the Scepters you help Hodgins build, the Traps for Detha, and finding Warmaster Grant to help take out the problems in AC. It’s awesome. To me it was rather fun once we figured it out and begin frankly honest, once we did, the run went so much quicker then it normally does since all the bosses and mobs have lower health then they did before.
Hmm Ninja buff to Arah Path 3. I’ve never been one to subscribe to exploiting the fights, but it was interesting that even pulling the twin bosses out of their area so we have more room to move makes the door-mobs keep respawning so you have those 4 on top of the two bosses. I like it, but I don’t like it. Also it seems that both Crush and his buddy got updated skills, that poison AoE cloud is impossible to see through =/ I don’t mind the changes but it would have been nice if we were told, lol.
