I did a fractal with a 161 guy afew hours ago aparently thats max.

S/He said it was from doing normal content with boosters only but I really dubt they havent done cof p1 farm for the tyria masterys atleast.

It is NOT humanly possible to get 50+ mastery since HoT got released doing normal content with all boosters and consumables stacked up.

Anyone who says otherwise is lying.

What on earth are you talking about? Sitting at 60 Mastery Ranks right now and I didn’t even USE boosters for most of it. Farming Silverwastes, Cursed Shore, and a little map completion killing all the mobs I found for the bonus XP (while hunting Hero Points for my Tempest) and I had all my core masteries done in three days. That’s 49 Mastery Points right there. Doesn’t take long, the longest one was the Legendary Crafting one which was about 12.1mil XP total for all levels.

After that just doing the Personal Story and 100% map completing Verdant brink, and getting all Hero Points in VB and Auric Basin got me all the EXP I needed for the other 11 Mastery Points I needed.

I think you underestimate the amoutn of EXP you can get from boosters, and heck just playing normally in the new Maguuma maps. The story alone gave Writs of Mastery EXP which was quite a bit by itself. Doing VB Meta T4 Day and Night Cycle at 200% participation is also a tone of EXP for Meta Event Upgrades. I think the final chest contains over 30k EXP and that’s just the chest reward not counting the massive amounts of events that run and all the mobs give EXP.

Here’s my solution to this problem: In the ranks section I have the “New Members Here” Rank (technically the lowest rank in most guilds) above the general members section. the new members just make sure that’s the only permission they have or however you run this, and then you have the otherwise “trusted members” Sill have power to invite people, but they can’t kick anyone since technically by the ranking system they are the lowest rank.

Below I added some pictures to illustrate what I mean. This is my “Bank” guild so there are no members my friends and I. It is an old RP guild I used to run before I merged us with another guild. That aside Scouts/Adventurer’s was the rank for “trusted full members” of the guild. Prospects was the rank where new players went. Notice how Scouts is below Prospects in the list, but they have way more permissions. This allowed people in the Scouts to recruit but no more administration than that. As obviously Scouts were the people that went out and recruited for us but were still technically Advenurer’s. I hope this makes sense and it helps you out =D

Precursor crafting was suppose to be the way a player can bypass the RNG to acquire a precursor. That’s it. It did drop the price of Zap on the TP by 15% but since they are account bound there is will be no uptick in supply from crafting, just fear that demand will drop if players can acquire it via other means.

The price of that however is governed by the price of the materials needed and a sudden shift in demand will raise those prices as everyone rushes for the same limited supply of raw materials.

Just a note after crafting my precursor through the collection method: It is NOT bound. You can sell it on the TP. The crafting processes were meant to keep it in line and not devalue the items. That is why there is little to no change int eh precursor markets. Only the new Precursors and Legendaries that come in November will be totally bound.

The wings were 500 gems like most other back pieces. I feel they were raised in price because now you also get the Glider version of them. Those that bought them earlier got a free upgrade on the skins.

You’ll eventually get them all and both sets of armor. Keep it up =) There is a ton over 20K worth of AP to get in the game that’s not seasonal or unobtainable.

You have some information wrong, they decreased Bosses HPs in all of Fractals. Fractals don’t take any longer than they used to. They are much faster in most cases.

So I was browsing casually through all of the new achievements and things when I came across a new one for killing the Karka Queen. It’s called “Killer Queen.” I just wanted to say thanks ANet for the obvious Homage to one of the best bands ever in the existence. I stayed up late last night just to kill KQ for the Title. It’s by far my favorite one!

Because the API’s haven’t been updated yet they have to be manually done and the team hasn’t done it yet.

I just wanna point out that the ONLY gold cost aside from a few Vendor things you have to buy is self-inflicted. You can (just like with any other ascended crafting) just wait and do it one at a time until you have what you need, and farm the materials you need.

Looks like u misunderstand what I was talking about. It isn’t about giving me a free content. It is included in expansion and I’m with it. The point is that ppl actually discriminate those without HoT efpansion and it is viable in fractals partys when ppl kick u for not having masteries that boost potions or influence u with bonus AR. I’m not talking about 50+ cos it is sure that u need new conent for new fractals levels, but about 1-50 where u get kicked for not having exp. conent while playing core content.

I have some solutions for you:
1. Write your own LFGs if you do not have The Expac.
2. Masteries require more than just mastery points, they require A LOT of EXP in between each level so it will take people awhile.
3. You can do 50+ without the Expac you just don’t get access to the new bonuses and vendors that require the mastery track for fractals. (I don’t recommend going past 55-60 without the mastery track personally as I started to struggle here personally from not having enough AR)

I am sorry for your unfortunate experience, that being said I have done many fractals hunting down some of the new things for legendary crafting and I haven’t been kicked from one party while doing it and I have not touched the Fractal’s mastery nor have I touched the Elite Spec for my Ele that I use for fractals.

You get a starter item when you train teh first 65 points into the Elite Spec it will be in a bonus chest above the mini map. This item is an Exotic Precursor weapon to the Ascended skin version. It Unlocks the Collection (located in the collections section of the hero panel called Specialization Collections) that you must complete to get the final skin. It’s a small and easily completed collection as well. GL and HF!

You could look through the Achievements and see what new ones are completed that weren’t before. Might be a bit of a task I suppose but its doable.

That is the best helmet in the game. Must have.

There ARE hard copies going to be available for HoT (I’ve seen a boxed copy personally, Working retail has its perks), I am thinking this is your local shops fault and not ANets. Anyway you can buy it online now if you want it that badly. Still up there, same prices it was before launch. Launch has been smooth for me for the last two hours =)

I will comment about the GS Skin only: It was just brought back for the anniversary sale. I am sure it will come back again dont’ worry =D

I’m in support of this idea. It was my biggest/most sad gripe about the wallet system. While one a whole I like the wallet system I was really sad that my bank no longer had a place for me to store my “rainy day” monies. I would like to have it back again at some point.

Yup, They are usually pretty darn awesome. I’ve had them replace a mistaken Gem Store Purchase before. With the warning that they wouldn’t do it again if I messed up again, lol. So I am always extra careful when buying things in the gem store.

Sadly I must say it no longer feels like a proper reveal for me, a shame being that Thief is my main and I wanted that excitement that other classes felt on that Wednesday morning and Friday afternoon of seeing what the future of my class was going to be like. But now it’s as if I’m going to see a movie yet I already know the plot and its details; going to a magic show where I know all the tricks already. Anet I hope you handle your reveals a little more carefully in the future.

You could, you know, NOT read the information? I mean it is technically your fault for looking into the spoilers.

I get a lot of Cores and Lodestones form champion Bags, also CoE Drops Cores and Lodestones Every dungeon has its own core/lodestone drop. So there you go, now you can ‘farm’ them. No reason to take everything that makes people money away. Its one of the few profitable things left that aren’t precursor/named exotic rare.

EDIT: Cores are easily turned into Lodestones with a MF recipe and for Charged ones the recipe is still profitable.

As an amateur writer/text-based Role-Player Names are very important to me and should invoke emotion and culture of the character I choose to make. My characters names often have “looks” associated with them so I have at the moment 16 characters (2 of every profession across two accounts). Some of my favorites are this though:

Syndelle Djenikov (Human Elementalist) – Syndelle is a play on the name Sindel from Mortal Kombat, I love playing as her and I use the name Syndelle in almsot every Ethereal/Mage-like character I make in any game. D’Jenikov is a play on a couple surnames I love.

Esmeralda Vantier (Human Warrior) – It’s a name of one of my role-play characters who happened to be a little honey blonde-headed girl that grew up to wield a two-handed Sword named Illusia.

Gwendolynne Wolfe (Norn Guardian) – Gwendolynne is my online identity. She started out some 20-odd years ago as a character I made up and over the years seh morphed into a fantasy version of me. I almost always have a Gwendolynne (Wolfe) in any MMO I play. She is usually my main, and I go by the name Gwen Wolfe no matter what site it is (except things like work and college where I had to use my real name). More people call me Gwen now than actually know my real name.

Raevynne Valke (Norn Ranger) – Her first name is a misspelling of the word Raven, the Ash symbol was left out for ease of invites and so I just used a and e. I also love ‘ynne’ in names because of my affinity for the name Lynne. Valke is a Scandinavian/Nordic surname meaning Falcon, or Raven. Essentially she’s named Raven Raven, but that’s okay. It sounds pretty, and Raevynne is another role-playing character I’ve had for years, she drank the blood of an evil, but powerful king and went almost blind but gained Psionic abilities (Telepathy, Scrying, Aura Reading and Energy Siphon). She also wields a bow and uses her other senses to shoot. She can talk to animals and often has companions. So I felt it was fitting to make her a blind Norn Ranger who talks tot he Spirits, especially that of Raven.

A note about my Norn: Until the Revenant comes out I have not used the Patronymic/Matronymic Suffixes commonly used for Nordic Names. This is because I have yet to establish patronage for any of my characters. My Revenant, however is Gwen’s Daughter and as such will carry a given name. Gwen and Raevynne both chose their own last names after their victories in The Great Hunt, as was common for people who wish more individual names rather than family names. I have many Nordic Countries in my blood RL so it fascinated me to learn all of this stuff when thinking of names for my Norns.

Alexandrae Dionaea (Sylvari Ranger) – This is a scientific-Latin based name. Alexandrae is part of the scientific name of Queen Alexandra’s Birdwing, the biggest butterfly in the world. Dionaea is the Genus of the Venus Fly Trap. She is a pretty dark green Sylvari that wears several of the Carapace armor pieces. I also have her cameo in the Day Dreamer Outfit, Wings and she has the Day Dreamer Longbow.

Paragon of Gaia (Sylvari Guardian) – Paragon has meaning in Tyria lore as well as just being a cool word for Perfection, Heralded, Celebrated, etc. Gaia is a Greek Goddess often referred to as Mother Earth. Essentially my Guardian is the Perfect Protector of her Mother Tree.

Mordrem Rage (Sylvari Warrior)/Mordrem Fury (Sylvari Necro) – These two are my Modremoth-Themed Sylvari. Both have fallen to the Dragon’s Corruption and are themed accordingly by looks, armor sets, only the Warrior uses the Mordrem Weapons while my Necro is happy with The Crossing and keeping to dark and neon greens (she does have the visible Red Eyes though)

And OP, minority OR majority, you dont speak for them. Claiming to do so is seriously egotistical and false.

That’s an L2P issue far more than it ever has been a casual issue. I don’t run any real Meta build, never have. I always change things up to my own liking (hello water, fire and arcane traited ele), but I never have problems dodging gravelings. And that has never changed. They always stack bleeds on people 25 is a one shot anyway, cleanse before that happens, dont’ blow all your CDs right away, learn what you can and cannot handle, and also kill the burrows faster to avoid getting bleeds on you at all.

I’ve been running dungeons with pugs just fine since the changes. There is almost nothing changed at all. A few of the lower dungeons take slightly longer with the more penalizing down scaling, but it is really not that bad at all.

EDIT: This comment is directed at the players having problems with dungeons not Basandra themself at all.

I have made over 10 characters since the NPE, a few of them I leveled up to “experience” it, and once they fixed all teh bugs (within less than a week mind you), I almost didn’t notice ANY difference at all. In fact with leveling accelerated from 2-15, I can get it in less than 30 minutes. In less than and hour I can be level 20 and the NPE no longer affects me at all other than a few of the “lock” outs like your last utility and Elite.

The system is FAR better than the one we have now, and this is coming form someone who didn’t even mind the trait hunting thing.

1. According to video leveling 80 only gives you 400 hero points. Which means you have to do map completion for rest of hero points regardless of you did the skill challenge or not. There is a possibility that all skill challenge will reset since they did mention they will change skill challenge into hero challenge.
2. Just because you liked to do map completion 10 times in a row doesn’t mean everyone liked it. I doubt you killed the huge Grub in EB 10 times for each of your alts. Fix bugs less than a week? Map completion for 1 trait was in there for so long until NPE thread reached over 3000 responses. Then they changed it, but it is still a mindless time/gold/skill sink. There is absolutely no reason why I have to do the same thing for each of my characters. Also NPE still affects you beyond 22 because you can’t even have full trait lines until you are level 80. You clearly did not “experience” NPE

1. But they aren’t going to take away you skills/traits that you’ve already unlocked. They never have i the past, ever. They’ve always let whatever you already had unlocked say there. The only thing the rolls to the new system is what you haven’t unlocked, and any new character you make will also have to unlock with the new system.
2. The NPE only touches you about levels 1-30. After that its essentially and completely the same as it always was. I have never done full map completion on all my alts. In fact I only have 100% on about 3 of them. The other 16 have 50% or less, and let me tell you, its not that hard to press F to Commune with a Place of Power while I’m out doing dungeons or something on said new alt.

You’re blowing this out of proportion drastically.

EDIT: Also The NPE has NOTHING at all to do with Traits. The Trait Hunting Changes happened in September 2013 and were aimed at VETERAN players who wanted to “hunt skills” like GW1. They admitted they didn’t do the system justice, that’s why they are changing it again. the NPE happened in April 2014, and it is largely fine and there was nothing wrong with it after a week of its inception when they fixed the bugs for veteran players not seeing nodes and skill challenges on their alts. That is all fixed now and has been.

We already have Grenth’s Mask. So if they do a Grenth outfit I don’t think they’d re-used the mask they already have in game. So they’d have to change his, that kinda debunks part of your theory. But its a good one. I do imagine we will, at some point, get an outfit for every god currently around though.

What the NPE actually did was streamline some things, add WAY more fun stuff for leveling up. You get better gear, you get little loot bags, it partitions off the story so that you experience each section in one big chunk which I like better anyway. It puts your points in chunks instead of one or two each level, and makes it noticeable change, thus more meaningful. These changes are aimed at people NEW to the game and for what its worth, I think its worked quite well for them.

The system is FAR better than the one we have now, and this is coming form someone who didn’t even mind the trait hunting thing.

Selling dungeon paths have always been a gray area.
Selling home instances seems to be a no-no.
Selling items… not sure what ANets official word was, but it is buyer beware.
Guild recruitment isn’t something I’ve seen before. Although I do think Anet needs to implement a better system in-game to help recruit new guildies.

Selling Dungeons is not a grey area, ANet said that it it totally fine for people to sell spots in the dungeon they cleared. The dev post is in the Dungeons forums. No one has ever been actioned against for selling paths of dungeons. This is aiken to a GW1 thing where people would sell “runs” to major city hubs. This is okay but buyer beware, as you are still LOOKING for a group member(s)

Selling Home Instances is not okay from what I have seen from Gaile.

Selling Items/Legendaries is Abuse of LFG and can be reported, this was posted in General Discussion a few months ago. Not only is it avoiding the Standard TP fees and failsafes but you’re not actually looking for a group at all

Selling Accounts is Against ToS completely and is also bannable.

I don’t know about how much of that wouldn’t be confusing to someone who doesn’t play the game. This Expac is designed for veteran people far more than it is new players. This reviewer obviously doesn’t play the game at all, but I don’t know I found his satire and puns to be very entertaining and all in all while he makes good points about it, I don’t think we’ll have much to fear as when new players join up they have awhile before they reach that content at all. So they will learn it at a much easier pace. besides with the betas so much of it is locked off right now especially in way of masteries it is hard to get a good grasp on them even for veteran players.

I mean, I recently started playing another big MMO and they are on their 6th… expac? Something like that. Anyway their latest one deals with going back in time and into the past of the game. I didn’t understand ANY of it at all when I first started the game. I JUST hit level 80 out of a max of 100 there and I am just now actually understanding a whole lot more. Things geared toward end-game players take time for new players to learn. So I am not really that concerned about it. It is good to make note of it though.

A final note: That reviewer is entertaining as all get out.

1. Super smooth, no lag in the map from my end.
2. Potential Bug: Vengeful Hammers will sometimes cast and then reset itself even if you are in combat with enemies and have high/max energy, basically making the skill useless. When it does work though, ho’boy its my favorite skill.
3. Smokescale mobs have VERY Choppy animations.
4. Night Time is not dark enough in ambiance. The difference in the day/night cycle cosmetically should be more drastic.

The Arah weapons are still some of my favorite skins in the entire game. I love them just how they are right along with their blue misty effect.

On another note I love the dreamer weapons just how they are as well.

Beauty is subjective. I am sorry you don’t like them as much. I hope they put something in the game you like more soon!

Recently, I was running around LA to see the new happenings with this latest patch. When I came upon Deverol Island, I heard an NPC conversation that talked about a new Chapel coming soon.

Chapels are for weddings. This leads me to speculate that we’ll finally be able to have weddings in game! What a great boon for the RP community should this happen. Can you imagine you and your soulmate, surrounded by 100 of your guildies cheering you on as you tie the knot?

But if not player weddings, perhaps NPCs will have some romantic storylines in upcoming Living Story releases? Kas and Jory finally dedicating their lives to each other? How about Rox and Braham confessing their love? Heck, we could even have a Braham and Taimi storyline too, seeing how much they care for each other. The sky’s the limit!

What do you guys think? Does the upcoming Chapel sound like a great idea or what???

Hello as someone who speedruns dungeons i would find it extremely helpfull if you were to add an player filter that can be set based on the desired number of ap , gear stats etc so people who dont have those cant join and i dont have to do gearcheck, thanks.

Make a Speed Clear Dungeon Guild. nod Then you only have to gear check once and you can pick from the pool of like-minded individuals. Don’t LFG expecting such things. And I seriously doubt that will ever come here and thank goodness for that. I also like that there is no inspect feature. Inclusivity is far better than exlusionary things for a small subset of players.

I watched this video and this is full of bitterness. He’s sad to not play the top rated profession of the game… at some point he should deal with it.
Now the part of glitch and exploit is a bit ridiculous. He’s talking about bugs that have disappeared or even make some game mechanics sound as bugs just because he doesn’t like them. For example he suggests that playing with opened inventory to swap weapons between fights is more or less a cheat… I personally don’t change traits and builds within a dungeon because I don’t want to go in that “super optimized” direction but if people do it and succeed I wouldn’t see myself blame them for MY laziness !!!!

The consequences of meta are ridiculous… toxic environment really????!!! Then I don’t understand why so many people on reddit keep on making posts about how the community is so great in that game…..

Now OP there are two possibilities for you. Either you have never played meta builds in meta comp (I’m not blaming you, I never did either) and I don’t think you can judge this gameplay as easy or you did it and succeed and in that case I would say " congrats you are a good player".

It has been said many many many times :
-AC/TA/SE are not representative of the game difficulty
-Zerker is a gear, the build coming with the meta has a lot of ACTIVE defence. If you are able to go through a fight only by dodging, preventing damage and healing efficiently then why take passive damage reduction instead of damage? If you are not sure of your skills then you take more HP or toughness to compensate for the mistakes you can do.

For me squeezing 5 people in the corner at the end of AC3 (or 1?) so the NPC also stacks on you, thus you avoid the any damage that can be done by done falling ceiling falls under the category of exploiting. You could argue that it is just “smart play”, for me, it’s pretty clear it’s not intentional.

The NPC creates a bubble to make you resist the cave in ability, of course it is intended for players to go in the bubble. Now you can run everywhere and pack during animation in the bubble or everyone stay around the NPC so that you are sure to be in range of the bubble…. are suggesting that the NPC has been given an ability to help players unintentionally?

People still do this? I PUG every day because dungeons are my thing. I run meta, but never care if anyone else is as long as the y bring the proper skills (Ie: Guards bring their aegis, reflects etc), and on P3 of AC almost NO ONE tries to stack on the corner anymore because they changed the bosses AoE. You cannot mitigate its damage in the corner anymore. The ONLY thing the bubble prevents is giving a small area of reprieve from the falling rocks. The boss still hits you, knocks you back and all the things unless you bring skills to combat it. I love Hallowed Ground on that boss. By the time its duration is over the boss is dead.

Meleeing something is not the same as stacking in a corner. I haven’t seen stacking in months. I’m sure more people will come around. Stacking in a corner is NOT meta. its pug tactics. True Meta is Melee though. And I agree with it because you share boons better and most often its melee range weapons that have the best damage rotations.

I haven’t played GW2 regularly for more then a year.. I didn’t get in to the Living Story all that much and got burned out on Fractals. My friends from work though pretty much played every night up until about 2 months ago. I honestly never thought they would stop playing, but even they said without new content they were getting bored. I understand they can’t doing anymore more living story, but even a new Super Adventure Box, maybe a replay of a past event. I know these guys would be back for that.

I might not play this game very much, but that doesn’t mean I still don’t love it. I honestly can’t wait for the expansion to come out and I know my friends will be back once it comes out. We read and watch all the updates, but if you told a couple months back that these guys wouldn’t be playing very much I wouldn’t have believed you. They just need to throw the current players something different.

I’m fine with the “content drought” because it is giving me a chance to get all of the things I’ve been trying to work on but haven’t be enable to get because they keep putting out new things. I am loving the content break so much.

Pretty sure they meant them to be hilarious. But how is it weird? Its no more weird than all the Human’s in the SAME armors with the SAME backpieces. To me THAT is weird.

You have to farm events to get shovels to open the chests. What’s the big deal? There is room in the game for both kinds.

Balance passes always see complaints. People get attached to their builds and hate changing them. IN all honesty I am getting used to having to change up how I play my characters, lol. My poor Ranger has seen so many sweeping changes and all I want is my LB/SB build from that start of the game back. /weep.

People dislike change on a whole. Its psychological. It’ll be okay let them complain and get it out. They will adapt and move on like every other time. Its not like this is the first balance patch we’ve had that was really huge.

My bet would be Tuesday.
