I am curious to know something. I was told in college that my portfolio couldn’t contain copyrighted material unless I actually had permission to use it commercially. Ie say I did an ad for Coke I could use that. But I couldn’t use a mocked up ad for Coke that used their assets. Granted this is graphic design and advertising but doesn’t this field have rules for this too? As in you can only use generic names and companies for mock ups?

Even if it IS a paid-expac or an Expac at all. I am almost positive most ANet will figure out a way to make the impact minimal and cosmetic (akin to the differences in the different versions of the base game).

They have been nothing less than transparent about their want and willingness to have as many people as possible on the same page and able to access relatively the same content.

Regardless of how they deliver it though, in my opinion, they are going to make the right choice for the game to see it grow as a whole.

But you’re making the assumption that the price you pay for it will affect it’s quality and that’s not a good assumption.

I’ve played paid expansions for games that were horrible and played free expansions that were a lot of fun. The price doesn’t make the expansion better.

On the other hand, the 2 extra payed campaigns from gw1 and the payed eotn expansion were awesome.

I’m not impressed by any of those Terra and rift were terrible. They could not ask money for it because no-one would pay for it. PWI, I never heard of that game but it seems to be free anyway?
PoE is also a free game, and not even an mmo. Good game but I would not compare this to something like guild wars.

That wasn’t the question you asked. I answered what you said you didn’t know. You never said anything about you having to like said game for it o be free. Also just because you don’t like something doesn’t make it not good? And yes PWI is a Free to play internationally there is a Pay to Play version their expansions (the ones we get in the international version) are also free. I’ve played that game for over 6 years its a fantastic game (within reason and in my own opinion only). So there’s that.

That image in the Wallpaper is more closer to a Battle Standard/War Flag rather than a weapon. But I suppose it could be some kinda spear.

I read the first two books. And I know she still has feelings toward Faolain, but considering she was betraying her and was willing to kill an innocent woman she still could have at least defended Wynne againts Foalain, telling her to back off.

Its more about the thought process of the Young Sylvari…

the whole “Innocent” woman thing… They were perhaps too young, too naive and she was doing what she thought was right. Wynne asked her to do it. They are very black and white thinkers especially back then.

There is more than enough of this IRL to want to deal with it in a game. I don’t find it funny or a joke. If you see me in game don’t say that crap to me even jokingly.

I actually quite enjoy the darkness in the story. It just goes to show that not all is as it seems even with the seemingly shiny sylvari. It also helps explain how the sylvari came to be. Spontaneously sprouting from a tree requires an enormous amount of magic and what better way to explain that than a dragon?

I especially liked how they delved into the back story of Faolain’s descent into Nightmare.

However, all the deviousness is why I prefer playing charr. Nice and blunt, like a hammer to the face

I am not talking about the game itself delving into it. Because I know that the Devs and writers are going to take great care in how they tell this story. It is going to be a very enlightening and lore building story for a race we know very little about. For that I am excited. I want to know where my favorite and most played race comes from.

What I am bothered by is the way the player-base will handle it.. and judging by this thread and some things I read on map chat yesterday, proves the player base CANNOT handle it. I am just fearful for people thinking its okay to start actually doing things like kicking Sylvari from their groups, or guilds etc. It may be a “ha ha” joke right now. But it happens in real life all the time and it is not fun. I don’t want my game life to emulate my real life.

Just because sylvari were “supposed” to be dragon minions, doesn’t make them dragon minions now. The player character is just as unaffected by Mordy whether they are sylvari, asura, norn, human, or charr.

The fact that they’re more easily corruptable by Mordy is not a basis for other people to hate them any more than the fact that charr can become branded.

Honestly this revelation doesn’t change the sylvari’s standing as “good guys”.

Even your own Pact members talk about you (if you’re a Sylvari) among themselves about how we can’t be trusted, etc etc.

its a very strange parallel to if you are say playing a Norn and hear the dialogue it just sounds like they are scared of Sylvari… but when you ARE a Sylvari and you here them talk about your race.. its strange and I always wonder how I if I were a Sylvari would feel to hear people I was in charge of and trying to save the world with, were questioning my honor.

If you are waiting that long, it sounds like a you problem. I barely notice any kind of UI lag at all. And most of the time I only notice it when its my own computer’s fault.

I pretty much see the same amount of dogs, regardless of how many people are in the labyrinth.

I played about 10 songs and have a grand total of 5 correct notes. It doesn’t seem to matter when i hit the key, I don’t get credit. Maybe it is the fact I, on a good day, play at 10FPS (this is also why I don’t do speed/time based jump puzzles) and so when I think it is the right time to hit the key the game says it has already passed. I had this problem getting my 10 wave jumps at Teq. Some days I have to jump way early and other days i don’t just because on some days I lag more than others.

I would say the problem is your computer and/or internet connection. If you’re only getting 10fps on a good day, how on earth are you able to play any part of this game?

I paly at 20FPS on a normal day. You get used to playing the game and accountign for your own lag I suppose. Unless my FPS tanks to 3-5 FPS on a popular map I can even do JPs.

At the OP If you don’t know you have to hit the corresponding notes when the colored ball is in the blue circle before it hits you. If you are playing with high lag like I do.. I hit the note when I see the ball at the white line .. I have gotten several perfect games this way.

I don’t think you can report someone for AFKing on a map…There is an AFK timer for that reason. And Having a skill on Auto-Use does not prevent you from being kicked anymore from what I can tell. I have had to AFK many times (though I always port back to the Pact base if I can help it) while farming SW. AFKing is NOT a bannable offense and you are likely to get banned yourself for abusing the report function. You just have to deal. Just stop Resing them. Also, asking someone if they are AFK is not a good way to determine if they are or not they may not speak English, or they may not see the chat or have it turned off.. I often have the Combat log on to avoid chatting.

The long and short of it is you just have to deal with it. People shouldn’t have to worry that going AFK might get them reported/banned. That’s just silly.

How about you…. Go through look up what traits you think you might want? And unlock those first to try out your build. Or go into Heart of the mists and play around in there with different ones until you find some you like. Then either go out and collect THOSE traits doing whatever it takes to get them or simply buy them? And then later on get more as you grow with learning your new profession. Its not that expensive at all. You prepared the tomes and crafting mats/money to level why didn’t you go all the way with skill point scrolls and the needed money for the traits?

I’ve made several new characters and while I don’t really care for the new trait system there are ways around it.

Until the meta changes, at which point you have to buy the new ones anyway just to try out the new builds. It doesn’t help the real problem, the problem we’ve been trying to get Anet to fix for 8 months.

Its still away around the CURRENT problem. And with how fast ANet updates traits etc, I’m not too worried about any of that happening and causing much of a problem until much later down the line.

IMO, They were still silly for not planning ahead. If they didn’t know about the trait system they probably shouldn’t be power leveling. Fact is, right now it is what it is and you just have to deal with it if you are making a new character. So plan accordingly, either suck it up and go out and hunt your traits that you want/need. Or Buy them with gold/skill points. Honestly I find it a fair solution. Go out and get the ones you can/want to that are easy. Buy the few you don’t. You never need them ALL all the time anyway. So you get a few for a decent build now and as you go about set aside a day or whatever and get some more you might want to try?

I am very strange.. Because I really enjoy asymmetrical things. and I often try to unbalance it further by having one side look one way while the other pales in comparison. That thing that irks me is many of the pants are “thin” on the opposite side of many of the pauldrons. Que Que.

I don’t do dailies / monthlies for AP personally. So the change to the cap doesn’t bother me one way or the other (I’m no where close)

My concern is the daily laurels and 10 laurel addition from the monthlies. That’s 40 laurels a month (potentially). My concern is seeing a decrease in that due to the new system. That’s all that would really bother me.

It doesn’t you get 10 AP and your Laurel for finishing 3 Dailies. And Monthlies are being converted to a new system entirely where you can choose laurels or other things. It’d be great if people actually… read these new posts.

So my second accounts ranger hit 80 today, so I celebrated and named my new brown bear “Talon” I am pleased with myself.

Please take the “we” and change it to “I,” my friend, this is something I both need and want in my life. My boyfriend and I were just having a discussion the other night over dinner how we felt that the dailies were too generic and boring, and we would like something more goal-oriented. Also you only have to finish 3 instead of 5 to get your laurel and AP, so its not that big of a change even if it is a little more specific. I like the idea of each achievement giving individual rewards on top of the “meta” for completing any 3 a day.

Not everyone at a company works on the same things, and even if it is the same teams they have already stated some things are easier to change than others. I made this thread about THIS change. While I myself want precursor crafting, I am not going to put it into a topic that has zero to do with the subject at all. You are free to your opinion and I respect it, but please respect mine.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This system looks absolutely fantastic! It looks elaborate and well thought out. I am super pumped for the return of the Meta-Achievement system even in this capacity. I love all the ways you guys are rolling different ways to obtain small but significant rewards.

The monthly part I was worried about, until I read how it is changing, its like an advent calendar for every day of the year! You open it and get a prize just for logging in (which I already do almost every single day), and I love that Its not tied to any specific timer leaving me to finish each 28-day cycle at my leisure.

Thank you a lot for this, I look forward to being able to fully explore this new system. Always winning me with these quality of life updates, Anet!

Don’t swear at me. Hacking, etc goes under “Botting” since they are using a third party program to do it. There’s no need for another heading.

Well I’m pretty sure the developers of that game know, from the assets I’ve seen pulled from other games.

Sad thing, it’s pretty common as other Facebook games I checked out rip things such as music or “tunes”, or straight take art designs and shift them enough to be “homage” rather than “ripoff” (or so they’d say).

It is an entirely different world on that side of gaming, and they think nothing of basically lifting whatever they can get away with lifting. If you really want to groan, try checking what games come out on mobile.

Oh I’m sure the DEVS know. I am talking about the people playing the game, lol. I played teh game for a long time.. also there is more than that game that does it. Therei s one called War of… something or other ( I don’t remember) that used a lto of GW2 stuff as well as WoW things.

It took me two days with a full party to beat some of the new LS Achievements. Thats pretty hard to me. =/

I found this to be inaccurate: “New Master Salvage Kit! Never Runs Out!……….Costs 60 copper per use”. It’s actually called ‘Silver-Fed Salvage-o-Matic’, though the stats are equal to a master salvage kit. The Reddit post is dated 22 days ago but the Silver-Fed Salvage-o-Matic was first available end of August to beginning of September, quite some time before the Reddit post.

They changed the Silver-Fed’s cost per Salvage just recently (a couple weeks ago) it was re-released onto the Gem Store for a short time. And that quote is in game description stuff. its all just lines that_shaman pulls from the client. It’s not always the final version we see.

This Zerker meta has to end. It has killed the diversity too long. This game has such a unique build system, and you should truly be able to play how you want. However, unless you have a pre made, then people will kick you. Start building your toon the way you want to!

Couple things of my opinion:

1. Meta is there because every game has a meta. All Meta means: is that its the mathematical “Best Set Up for Optimal Whatever it is you’re trying to accomplish.” I’ll post a proper description below.

2. There will ALWAYS be a Meta no matter what even if it changes.

3. In most PUG Comps If you don’t say anything and you don’t screw up too bad no one is going to notice.

4. If your guildies want you to run Meta and kick you for not? Get new guildies?

5. No one is forcing you to run it there are many of us that get by JUST fine without running meta.

6. Run what YOU want, but also don’t go around begruding others for running what they want? How is it right of you to want to “kill” the meta to benefit you? There is room for all builds in the game and others opinions shouldn’t affect you negatively.

7. I’m a HUGE believer in Knowledge of Content > Skill > Gear. Gear is the LAST of the tri-fecta you need to worry about. The difference between a Zerker Run versus a Non-Zerker (barring a few stat sets that offer no offensive stat boosts, however there is room for them in my opinion too) run in a party of people who understand the content and make minimal mistakes is honestly rather negligible.

The weapon isn’t in the Wardrobe yet. Usually the icon is in the wardrobe well before its placed into the game. But my hope is still alive that I will someday have this!

Luck hasn’t been a thing for 2+ years. It was converted in the first Feature Pack I believe. So little over a year ago. And the rate at which you earn Magic Find at the higher levels ( one Exotic stack isn’t even 1% at around 200) does make it seem ridiculous that unless you actively Hunting it (some of us did and do, btw. That is a personal choice though and leaves little to no room for whining), getting 2 stacks of Exotic Grade Luck a day is an exaggeration. Also while I did make a comment about the silly photo shopped image (which would have been find had you just said “Look at what could happen!” instead of playing it off like it was real) I did give you feedback on the actual title… There ISN’T a point after 300% currently.

This game is ever-expanding. Maybe not in a boxed traditional sense.. but it is always growing there are new things to do… maps are changing and shifting with the story… especially Silverwastes…. Mordy you outta control, brotha.

It may not be what you personally want, but the trope that “Expansion” isn’t happening is getting seriously old. The game is growing at its own pace and in its own unique way.

I’m goign to leave my opinions mostly out of this…

I do want to make a point about Point 4. ANet is a US American company, and generally there are laws about “Lowest” Value things like Gem Purchases can be. 5-10 US Dollars is usually the minimum transaction credit card companies and etc will take for various reasons when dealing with online micro transactions. If you don’t like this, don’t purchase directly. If you have access to a place where Gem Cards are sold (most major retailers have gift card sections and I see Gem Cards all over in big box stores and game stores) for your traditional price points.

I don’t know about you but almost every game I’ve played with transactions such as these has set dollar amounts and the lowest is usually around 5-10$.

This game is ever-expanding. The way I see if if you lumped ALL the stuff we’ve gotten over the last year and a half and sold it as one package.. that’d be an expansion in most games? Not ALL expansions have to come out with new races/classes etc etc to be an expansion… To me that kind of stuff is fluff and filler and not always needed. I wouldn’t begrudge it to happen if it did but I certainly like this “trickled” content delivery system WAY more than I thought I would. As proven to me by recent updates to other games I play and how quickly I burned through the content. I never paid attention to how fast I would eat through something when there was nothing tempering me from over indulging. Then I got bored and put the game down again. =/ I like this “DLC” smaller but more often quite a lot. And I have grown very fond of two week release cycles between couple month breaks.

Someone may have pointed this out already, but if you’re going to photoshop stuff.. you MIGHT wanna pay attention to the number that says 38/160, hunny.

Other than that as far as I know there is nothing to do with MF after you’ve reached the max. So either destroy it? Save some for Monthly Mastercrafter, or ….. whine? Most people aren’t anywhere near 300% those few of us that have it just kinda deal. Maybe they will put some way to use it in the future for something else.

So far story wise there has been HOURS of content added just with the story instances. Couple that with the replay ability and yeah it could be Expansion worthy. Just because its trickled in doesn’t negate it. When the season is over you can put it all together and play it all at once… most people consume Expansions in a couple of weeks… it doesn’t take that long.
