It’s…both. Bars have historically been timers (a year ago I thought they were real, only to realize they were timers). I think the it’s driven by player input. But like any gathering quest, the progress for each contribution shrinks according to how many players are in the area. So when the content is nearly abandoned, the meter will keep advancing more fore each completion, and will fill about when ANet figured it would fill.
That would be needlessly complicated.
Did you forget your own name?
What ever it is, the forums will hate it.
the only good/viable idea to repopulate the world would be roll back the game to sept 2012.
What would that accomplish?
re populate the world…
Ô.ô
How? I want to hear the logic behind this.
Ok, get a calculator. Lots of paper, pencils, sharpeners,.. get ready to do heavy math here….
think about the game release date…. ok we are done.
Which is why it doesn’t make any sense.
Keep trying Mesket!! I think Phy is almost there!
Going back to a pre release build/release build wouldn’t accomplish anything, unless the implication is wiping progress along with it, which would repopulate low level zones for a month, then we go back to farming Orr, and ignoring low level zones even more than we currently do. Maybe you guys haven’t quite thought this through.

It’s not as bad as the floating charr shield.

What does the title have to do with the complaint?
Cool looking stuff is higher level and either costly or RNG.
I don’t want to be downleveled more. If I’m trying to farm T3 mats I don’t want every enemy to be a real threat, not when drop rates are so low to begin with.
EoTN didn’t add any classes, FYI.
It’s interesting, but doesn’t tie into the Nightmare tower, and we shouldn’t have to dig so deep outside of the game to find lore and plot.
I heard they’re the same as the old ones, except the mist essence is replaced with something I can’t remember.
Maybe that sigil has an internal cooldown.
You must not have played World of Warcraft
Still, in WoW there was no need to dodge the boss one-shot attack, unlike GW2
WoW also has a very UI-driven combat, unlike GW2. GW2 relies on animations to provided a dynamic combat. Problem is that effect clutter these telegraphs/animations, and you can’t see, thus you can’t dodge and you die.
This is why Effect’s clutter is such a big issue in GW2 compared to other games.
I main tanked and off-tanked a lot in WOW, and there were a lot of bosses that you had to dodge some form of attack.
All I want for Christmas is a movable target frame.
I applaud the effort, sir.
So you want 80 because it’s there, and wonder why people think you’re asking for handouts.
Why doesn’t scaling work, in your opinion? Stats are too high? Too low? Have any math to prove it? Don’t make an argument or statement if you can’t defend it.
IMO one of the problems with the game is that leveling is too quick. Experience needed to level should be about 150% of what it is now.
Please don’t.
…Wait, are you asking me to me answer a metaphorical question?
I don’t think we’re communicating properly. Actually, I think you misunderstand what people are asking for when they make these threads. Pretty sure that’s got to obvious at least one some level.
Do the words “how to make a good game” ring a bell?
It’s a very literal question “why do you need 80?” You, as a supporter of this thread, need to make arguments to support the idea. Complaining that you feel leveling is boring and/or tedious isn’t a good argument when the goal of this game is to keep you around for as long as possible.
This thread is basically “I want 80, give it to me now (or sooner)” but nobody has stated why they need it.
Did I mention I absolutely hate this mindset?
I think I did.
It’s not a mindset, it’s a question.
Like a dog chasing a car, what are you going to do with it when you catch it?
I will assert my dominance by peeing on it. But that’s just me.
Although I sense your comment is a metaphorical one, to which I must confess I do not quite catch the insinuation.
This thread is basically “I want 80, give it to me now (or sooner)” but nobody has stated why they need it.
…this thread looks like someone complaining about wanting things handed to him…
I REALLY hate this attitude.
This sort of insidious sort of mindset that seeks to make life difficult for everyone just for the sake of wasting everyone’s time. Why would anyone actually think that?
It’s like something Satan himself would tell you when you’re crawling through the waist-deep snow towards an old can of beans: “What do you want life to just hand it over to you?”
Yes.
Yes I would like you to hand me a can of frozen beans, Satan.
Like a dog chasing a car, what are you going to do with it when you catch it?
What do you want to do that requires lvl 80?
I don’t find those ideas fun, so no. Can’t do it. Don’t even try to change my mind.
I think it is good that everyone does not own every item in-game. Otherwise, it would be so homogenous and rather boring. Just my opinion, of course.
That’s how it is now. The unique items are so rare/hard to get that most people don’t have a choice.
I know almost nothing about those games, and what I do know is irrelevant because those games aren’t out yet.
Why do you need 1000g? I have 40g and I’m content.
After that, you get greatly reduced rewards. Ta-da — champion farming is fixed.
Too bad that it doesn’’t help any in the problem that OP posed, right? Nor does it “fix” anything else, really.
It absolutely does, by balancing rewards and providing an incentive for people to do a multitude of activities rather than just one.
Take just one simple change: each champion drops a bag only once per character per day. Immediately instead of having huge percentages of players farming two maps, you’d have players all over every map.
Now greatly increase the first-time rewards for doing hearts or DEs. Again, you will see a lot more people exploring and doing different things.
What would actually happen is the complete abandonment of champion kills.
And what is wrong with this?
It doesn’t do anything to “fix” the problem.
By removing an incentive to farm champions, people are now free to do other things.
If they remove the incentive for champion kills, and placed that incentive in the open world participating in any dynamic event in the game, yes that might help.
You’re free to do other things now. Do we really need to go back to the DE chain farms like we had in Orr? Is that really an improvement? (it’s not)
No, human nature will cause them to find the next easiest farm. If you need evidence, just open your eyes.
Another non-response.
If something else gets farmed, you adjust that. You keep adjusting until people are doing a variety of things.
This isn’t difficult. It just requires a bit of time and attention.
I agree, let’s just abolish ALL drops.
Look who has the last laugh now farmers! ha!
What will you farm now eh? Thought so!
While this is mostly sarcasm, this would be the only way to stop farming.

Provide some actual evidence or reasoning to back up that claim, and I might consider it.
But you’re going against well-known human nature, which is pretty easy to predict, especially in areas such as gaming. Like water, the players flow through the path of least resistance. Given them a reason to do a variety of things across all maps, and they will do a variety of things across all maps. Right now they don’t have that incentive, so they just do the champion circle nonsense.

Yeah, it’s amazing how empty zones are at 6am EST on a Friday morning! ANET has failed, the game is dead.
FYI, they were as empty at 8PM EST last night too because I zoned into the same areas last night. Any any other night.
Lets not be too sarcastic.
Then lets look at from another angle. If everyone was spread out equally it would appear that the entire server is empty instead of just the low reward zones.
How did you come to that conclusion? Because Lion’s Arch and Queensdale would have thinned out?
I might be running through fireheart rise and see a living soul every few minutes.
How many people do you expect to see in fireheart rise? What reason do they have to be there? Maybe you misunderstood what I was trying to say.
Yeah, it’s amazing how empty zones are at 6am EST on a Friday morning! ANET has failed, the game is dead.

It is almost 5 in the afternoon here :P
your point was what exactly?
Primetime! It’s not the same for everyone.
Yeah, it’s amazing how empty zones are at 6am EST on a Friday morning! ANET has failed, the game is dead.
One of the better things WOW does is weapon aesthetics. Anet should take some notes.
It looks like the tower is going to be around for another 3 weeks, witch puts it in line with the dec 6th update.
Southsun release was a big event, it was also incredibly laggy for everyone involved.
wish I wasn’t broke
The only thing unclear is how to work on legendary’s.
What reason do they have to be there? Once I complete the map for Timberline Hills, why should I stay there? There’s only so many people on a server.
Then you missed the point of what Guild Wars 2 was meant to be. It was hardly meant to be “go find all of the POIs, waypoints, vistas, etc”. Im pretty sure the developers wanted us to get more out of their lush zones than that.
I’m not missing the point, the point just isn’t well executed, and yet you guys want more zones to ignore? Why?
What reason do they have to be there? Once I complete the map for Timberline Hills, why should I stay there? There’s only so many people on a server.
As long as living stories = zergs + content that you finish in a couple days + crappy rewards, they will fail. I don’t understand how Anet can think that it can work.
Because a zone that equals zergs + content that you finish in a couple days + crappy rewards is so much better. Most people call it Orr.
Removing champs rewards will just force people to find the next most efficient way to farm. If it’s not champ trains it’s DE trains somewhere else, or dungeon speed runs, or farming trash.
You guys have this mindset that we can only get new zones through an expansion, when southshore clearly shows that’s not true.
I agree with the expansion. We could use a quest system, the hearts aren’t cutting it. As for the combat system, it’s great, but the skill and trait is extremely lacking. There is no diversity and the little diversity that IS there, is useless, cause all you need is Zerker gear and a zerg. This game has no need for true teamwork and coordination.
What would an archaic quest system add that hearts don’t? Quest require you to kill X or collect Y, hearts do the same thing with less redundancy.
Zergs will exist as long as there are other people doing the same thing in the same place, if you don’t want zergs, don’t play an MMO.
