fix it. No reason that a class should have so much mitigation (i.e. stealth) in it and damage burst. No way a class should be able to go into a 20 man zerg without fear of dying. Get in trouble? Go into stealth and run.
1. the act of mitigating, or lessening the force or intensity of something unpleasant, as wrath, pain, grief, or extreme circumstances
2. the act of making a condition or consequence less severe
3. the process of becoming milder, gentler, or less severe.Thief does not have any mitigation through stealth. Thief takes just as much damage from attacks whether stealthed or not. You just don’t see the numbers because it’d give away the player’s location.
What Thief does have from stealth is deception/trickery/confusion, and I don’t mean the in game terms.
As for the 20 man zerg comment… yeah I’m sure that happens all the time. A 20 man zerg that lets a Thief get away is a 20 man zerg that doesn’t know what they’re doing or is dreadfully all spec’d and gear’d in the same unfortunate way.
I do agree that the d/p stealth build is very cheese though.
Just stand inside the black powder and reveal them when they heartseeker into you.
Uh no, heartseeker combos with the field as it is a leap, combos proc after damage, any leap/blast finisher in the powder will hit you then stealth the enemy, since it doesn’t stealth first then break it by damaging there is no reveal.
Anyway, way too many of you blindly ignore all the other aspects of wvw that aren’t punching the guy in front of you in the face.
I’ve been noticing a lot of people saying ‘player this’ and ‘player that’ in this thread and I would just like to say that I only use MF gear in open world pve with guild parties, I do not wear it in any real content as people keep claiming >:(
Lol, or farm CoF/CoE/Arah for a zerk set? CoE armor doesn’t look too bad. No one is forcing you to run it in full t3…
Looks matter to some people. The world does not revolve around your taste. My sylvari looks dreadful in human armor — I hate it. Most armor materials were designed with human models and skin tones in mind. CoF armor looks ridiculously silly on sylvari, as does CoE.
My point was that you complained about not being able to run DPS gear, because you couldn’t afford a new armor set… I pointed out why your argument was silly.
Either don’t complain about the money, or don’t complain about not having the armor set… That’s like purposely wearing shoes that hurt your feet, but wearing them for looking good. Either you don’t complain about your feet hurting, or you wear shoes that don’t hurt…
I didn’t complain about not being able to run berserker. Read what people say. I complained about not being to run berserker in t3 cultural.
You can make the separation. I won’t. For me it’s important that my characters look aesthetically pleasing when I play them. And in the case of my sylvari toons, it’s t3 cultural armor.
Whoah whoah calm down, http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Transmutation_Crystal any stats on any class appropriate skin…
The stone destroys the existing set, which I use for WvW. Too bad transmutation doesn’t function like in WoW where it doesn’t destroy the items involved; it just copies the skin over.
Ok now you’re not making sense, you want your t3 skin but you want different stats on it. Just do it and stop saying you can’t…
4 Warriors + 1 Guardian or 5 Warriors is even better i’d say. Mesmers actually suck, they are incredibly slow, deal no damage and are only important at a very few situations.
I hate running my mesmer in Arah… No swiftness, crap damage, no mobility, crap stability for skipping, stealth is a joke…
Skipping trash on a mesmer is what makes me hate it so much… Not necessarily because it’s so hard (although I’ve gotten my kitten kicked in p2 a number of times now, dem sentinels hit hard…) but because you’re SO SLOW, and completely dependent on your party for swiftness, because the only form you get (temp curtain) is bugged up the kitten …
Are you not running with warriors? Drop banners, kill boss, use banners at end of fight to give every1 swiftness, then move. Also as a mesmer you might even consider carrying a banner between fights for swiftness + the charge, drop when you need your weapons to escape something.

No, I’ve never done what you are asking for nor do I even have the intent to, high level for most people here means a level that will actually have a chance for a reward, since what you mean by “high level” are levels we are not even supposed to do (we can only do them with someone who had access to them before they closed the maw at lvl 50. Normal progression is shut at 48.).
I’m already tired of the terrible reward from doing 48, and almost completely stopped fractals, there is absolutely no way whatsoever that I’d think about strategies that might or might not work at 50+. The terrible RNG at 48 for skins is already enough, doing fractals without even completing a daily is such a pointless activity..
As it is right now, 50+ is a no man’s land that could dramatically change once, or if, anet intends to open it again.
Fair enough. One more question though it’s been already derailed. Generally, if you run 2 guardians, one of them is “anchor” 0/0/30/30/10 (V,VI,XI; III,VII,XI; VI) with runes of soldier and another is damage oriented 0/30/0/30/10 (VI,X,XI; II,VIII,XI; VI) with ruby orbs/rune of scholar, right?
Don’t have a guardian past lvl 40 (character not fractal :P) yet so not sure on the builds themselves, but ya that’s the basic idea but also both reflecting when it completely destroys the “mechanics” anet uses.
Just for all the people posting times, quickest one I’ve seen is my buddy doing a 5:42 run with 1 mes 2 thief 2 war.
All the same mistakes espada made last time.
1. You CAN’T use hounds twice. The ENTIRE POINT of speed running is to repeat it. Hounds has a 4 minute cooldown. Using it twice per run requires that there be 8 minutes between each slave driver and 8 minutes between each final boss. Your best possible REPEATABLE time is then an 8 minute run with that setup.
2. Because you are repeating runs, your actual time is from any specific point in 1 run to the exact same point in your 2nd run, not from gate to boss.OK no, the whole point of the video is to get the quickest run, not multiple runs, or anything ok? THE quickest run.
Nobody cares what you can do in ONE run. If I had a character that insta killed everything in 1 dungeon on a 24hr cd and it couldn’t do anything else, sure it would be convenient for ONE run but it wouldn’t accomplish anything in terms of efficiency.
Got minis. Deleted them because they take up space.
… there’s a tab in ur bank for collectibles… they have specific slots for each mini…

The issue is not that ANet gave a “thank you gift,” it is that ANet concurrently effectively penalized all other players more than 15 gold (the cost to buy the gems for a set of minis). This may or may not have been intentional. I currently vote for a careless or thoughtless “not” intentional.
At issue is not only fairness but the pre-release marketing that loudly trumpeted that GW2 play would be free, gem buying players would not gain in-game advantage, and players who played for free would not be disadvantaged in-game for not buying gems. All players would be equal.Mini collecting, and apparently now ANet disfavored, “free” players and those who buy few gems or buy them irregularly are effectively penalized more than 15 gold and favored players, whether they realize it or not, effectively gained more than a 15g windfall. This is not behavior that could reasonably be anticipated by those who believed and relied on ANet advertising for GW2.
Directly or indirectly giving in-game gold to, or taking In-game gold from, players in an uneven fashion grants in-game advantage or alternatively disadvantages in-game play. If a player spends 15 gold on minis it can’t be spent again on armor.
The effective gift of 500 gems to favored players allows them to purchase 500 more gems worth of gold, or whatever, than they actually paid for.
Absent ANet taking steps to right the inequity, the appearance is that ANet promised free play and equality to gain sales and now (mere months after the release of the game) intentionally disadvantages those players who believed the promises and relied on them in making the decision to purchase the game and, in reliance on the advertising, play without regularly purchasing gems or purchase none at all.In this instance ANet is substantially disadvantaging the mini collecting “free” or less than regular gem buying players to the tune of more than 15 in-game gold that must be earned and spent in a limited time. This is the direct and logical result of favoring regular gem buying players with gifts of minis that cost that amount.
So much for the promised cake, um… equality.
I am a big picture person and what I see troubles me but I really like ANet and despite the very d*mning appearances, in the short term, I am taking the position that this was a hideous mistake caused by small picture thinking in a big picture game rather than egregious (false and deceptive / bait and switch) consumer fraud intentionally ground into the faces of those who relied on ANet pre-release advertising for GW2.
If ANet follows its past pattern of righting inequities and treating all players equally ANet will take steps to rectify the situation and make it clear that “rich” players are not “better” than others and will not be treated better than the die-hard GW fans who temporarily or permanently cannot afford to buy the benefits that come with regular purchase of gems and relied on the advertising of free play and equality.
I have seen ANet right injustices and go way out of its way to create fair game play. I won’t believe this is intentional fraud unless ANet makes a permanent favored class out of "regular"gem buyers and continues to give “regular” gem buyers even greater advantage than we can all already purchase with real life cash.
Those of us who purchased costumes in GW1, and were the most “profitable” were never treated as “better” than other players and we should not have been. Those of us who buy gems with cash are no better than those of us who don’t. All players invaluably contribute to the game.
In my opinion treating some players like second class citizens may drive them away to game environments where they are treated with more respect rather than inspire or coerce them into spending more money.
The economy relies on the product of the “free” players; continually treating them like dirt seems unwise as it may ultimately have unintended consequences to the function of the game.
So not having those minis was game breaking for you?
In your video test blocking while walking forwards against blocking while walking backwards, walking away from him should make it more likely to double hit.
We weren’t able to finish them. I am sure we several times downed one of them in stealth, but the other one easily could rez the downed one without us noticing.
When you’re getting hits, just keep smacking the same spot. I can outdamage someone reviving pretty easily while solo, especially when they’re reviving a low-HP thief. There’s no excuse for letting them revive eachother, downed or not.
The main problem that I see is target lock break with every stealth and shadow return, with only 3 secs of reveal most people can’t re-acquire target and use a skill other than auto attack. Melee types can’t use gap closers without target and ranged atks also require a target. I think this and the reveal not activating on a miss or blocked attack are main problems…….. you would see alot less GC thieves with these implemented.
No, no they do not. Very few attacks in GW2 require a target. Most of the complaints about thieves are because there’s a large portion of the community that still doesn’t understand that GW2 combat is not target-based, and most abilities can be (and should be, in many situations) free-aimed.
But, again, the “melee can’t close the gap” is an issue of mobility, not one of stealth. When I’m playing a profession that is more mobile than a given thief, I can and do catch them with melee.
Ranged attacks do require a target, good luck manually aiming a bow at ANYTHING.
Just for all the people posting times, quickest one I’ve seen is my buddy doing a 5:42 run with 1 mes 2 thief 2 war.

Permastealth is the stupiest excuse someone can say about thiefs. If he’s permastealth what harm can he do? Only if he attacks you, if so he’s not permastealth anymore. Even if he CD over and over you stil can see him and counter that, if you can’t you just need more practice, cuz its easy. Whiners don’t win, they whine.
Rez a mesmer in enemy keep, port in zerg.
Break any siege left unattended.Nice strawman.
I was talking about player against another player. In your case is just so much chain for that to happen and so not often, I think its not even considered as a issue.
this is the wvw forum, you wanna discuss pvp go to pvp…
Seriously? Well, I’ll confirm this once I get one of them to 60, until then it doesn’t matter.
Well you’ll be missing out on the opportunity to spend your trait points for 20 levels, but I don’t blame you for wanting to check for yourself.
No, he’ll just have 10 in everything.
It’s always funny when games with random name generators still give you names that are taken.

The issue is the wave still being in your hitbox, it’s like sprinting away from a warrior greatsword 3 so you take more of the pulses of hits.
^ the 2 comments above plus all I’ve heard about gw2lfg.net is people complaining about it being down in map chat.
The fact that a thief can still perma stealth shows you how much they care about patching mechanics.
Such comments show, how less some people understand of game mecahnics. The thief works as intended, even if some (and this are not the majority) of players do not want to accept that.
Permastealthing is something anet has said was not intended, just as the d/d ele’s mobility was unintended (and resulted in the RTL cd nerf). This is not a 1v1’ing issue, this is not a 1vX’ing issue, this is a requiring 30+ players looking around an entire keep to pin down 1 guy because his adventurer class can generate the most powerful illusion that the mesmer can do, he can make you unable to realize you are punching him in the face, walking through the blood he left on the ground, and completely ignore the scent of his burning flesh. Instastealthing without magic, midcombat, against enemies that aren’t blind doesn’t even make sense….
Hell, you can stealth off a leap finisher, even if the attack connects. Heartseeker can connect, hit some1, and give stealth your character.

Ya just use the boxes, there’s a vendor for them right beside the fort trinity waypoint.
When I first started playing Guild Wars 2 I found it to feel very natural, learn as you go, level as you like and meet new people along the way. However, the one aspect of the game that I’ve always had trouble with is the trait point allocation. Here are my quarrels with it:
1. There are too many Attributes to begin with- There are primary attributes, profession specific attributes, attributes affecting attributes. It’s overwhelming and over complex for no apparent reason other than to deter clarity. I’m not saying that attributes are unimportant, rather I’m pointing out the fact that there is just too much to consider and limited reasources on how to determine what you need.
2. There are a ridiculous amount of combinations- Ok cool, I picked my profession (say warrior for instance) and I want to play a damage roll but not glass cannon. Looks at Traits = Facepalm…
Strength = Damage
Arms = Also Damage
Defence= Not getting killed in sacrafice of damage
Tactics= Useless
Discipline= Damage againHow am I suppose to determine which trait lines to pick when 3 out of the 5 all output towards the same thing? Is Critical hit chance more important than vulnerability? How does this Critical hit damage affect my burst damage? Are bleeds necessary? Should I use signets primarily, If I do what will I be sacrificing?
3. What affects what? – What weapon combination affects my build? Do I need vitality more than toughness? Do my runes support such and such aspect of the game? Am I lacking balance, or is balance unimportant?
Conclusion: It’s time consuming, and more like work than actual fun. There is little clarity, and third party resources are constantly contradicting each other with what works for what. Arenanet, don’t dumb it down but don’t over complicate it for the sake of being complicated.
1. 3 out of 5 lines are what you want points in? Well GOOD NEWS! As part of this special limited time offer you too can have enough points that you HAVE TO touch at least 3 trait lines!
2. You want the devs to just hand you every single ounce of theory crafting possible?…
You can burn enemies in a stove.
Godwin’s Law. First post.
the crystalline dust had a VERY stable price for the last few months.
No it didn’t. In the last month it went from 25s to 38s. Don’t make up facts to support your case.
Did it not occur to you that that happened over the span of the southsun cove event? When everybody was farming southsun with 400% magic find? Guess which t6 mat doesn’t drop in southsun. The price jump was entirely due to the temporary relocation of every single person who farms t6 mats.
You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy. > sunday is the best farm day in the week. Most people online for drops
Sabbath is saturday brah.
Because you didn’t put a kittening roof over their heads or food in their mouths? Close thread.
Here’s the result: people organize games to have one team forfeit to the other. Match now takes 2 minutes tops. sPvP 0 risk 0 investment 0 expenses now gives best reward.
Yes, the best rewards should not be from brainless farming, but sPvP was never intended to give you any money.
Hello I’m here to tell you DR is not a problem if you don’t farm. Furthermore A.net first implemented DR in 2004 in a game called Guild Wars Prophecies, back then still called Guild Wars. I don’t know why you’re surprised it showed up in Guild Wars 2.
So why can raptor farm for 3 hours and have not a change in loot, but at the end of one temple event in Orr I see no loot at all?
Did you play in early GW2? CS was filled with people, and I just like to kill tings over and over to get loot, the only reason why A-net changed this was beause of the Legendaries
Pretty sure they didn’t even touch the DR, what they changed was the events themselves. Also if you aren’t getting DR’ed after 3 hours of farming raptors you are killing them INCREDIBLY SLOW.
@Everybody still posting here
You don’t need the moa achieve for the back piece, there are extra achievements just as there was for southsun. The achievement at the top requires that you do 10 things, 10 of 15.
why is this thread still happening?
I could be wrong but from what I’ve seen every skin item has the convert option when you activate it and that goes back to… october?
OH Axe = worst weapon for warrior in this game (There is nothing worse atm).
sword?
OH sword can block and with the dps on an axe auto axe oh offers nothing. Axe OH was used in builds before the life steal food got nerfed (fixed) because the spin offers a high number of hits per second, which allowed for a spike in self healing. These foods now have an internal cooldown so spiking how rapidly you score hits doesn’t help when it comes with a drop in dps.

If it was such a big deal to get it open then open the event yourself. It takes 1 person to start the event and to get it to the bridge. It takes 2 good people or 4 average people to beat the bridge event. The entire event takes about 10-15 minutes. If no one had story mode finished, do story mode. You’ll never have that problem ever again.
^this
dont remember to add dredges to fotm
Adding dredges is Always the answer!! u.u
No, add centaurs, corrupted, and something involving charged lodestones, watch the market fix lodestone prices.
Dailies complete themselves, guild missions are fun, it’s all available in wvw too.
It’s amazing how few mobs drop loot in story quests now.
They really have nerfed those into oblivion. Especially the orr ones, you’re lucky to get one lootable body for every large pack of mobs.
That’s unrelated to the OP, but even if they did nerf that it would make sense. There was a time people would farm certain story quests without completing them for the crafting mats they could get by the dozens per run. (significantly higher drop rate than open world pve was giving)
The precision stat is purely used to calculate your crit chance.
Warriors were buffed +100% on their already overpowered build last update. Seriously … Yes I’m talking strictly PVE, some people want a hint of balance in there too but alas …
Signets were not the pve build o.O banners are still effectively 2 signets spread across the entire party. If anything signets would make a pvp build as they provide no party support.
But you can. All the spawns have a WP with a retrainer to swap skills.
Reread that.
How is that any different from waypointing to down, resetting skills, and then waypointing back?
because you can’t just waypoint back in wvw…
(edited by Player Character.9467)
Hi everyone,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. First, I’d like to say that, even if the Dev team does not actively post in the forums they are always aware of what is happening. The mod team sees that they are informed of what is going on in the forums. However, we will forwad them this thread so they are aware.
Thanks a lot for your understanding.
Please, keep the discussion constructive and friendly.
Reading and not replying is being as respectful of your player base as all the patch content that fails to make it to the notes. Or how about all the things that seem to only make it to twitter and not onto the ACTUAL OFFICIAL WEBSITE. One day a game company will rediscover the lost art of being engaged with their customers…
Did Frodo and Sam just charge through the gates of Mordor? No, they skipped around.
Hadnt they done that, the Lotr series had been pretty short. You mean they ran through every orc patrol along the way and simply ran until the orcs gave up, even though the hobbits had no way of escaping? Must be a different LotR than the one I remember.
You mean this lord of the rings?

For those saying well you get out of combat, switch and now you can crush the mob and that it isn’t fair? How is that any different from waypointing to down, resetting skills, and then waypointing back? It’s just a matter of saving time, effort, and allowing people to have multiple builds, would eliminate alot of us feeling like we’re stagnant and forced into specific builds just to survive (can we say elementalist?).
In addition, armor swap would be nice. Have the first set purchasable in game at a low currency cost (so all people can get it) then future additional ones cost a specific amount of gems (this is for stored trait builds, weapons, and armor).
because you can’t just waypoint back in wvw…
In short, Thieves need skill indexing added to them like GW1 Assassins had, everyone knew who the bad sins were in gw1, i can’t tell a bad thief from a good thief cause every thief does the same thing, pop out of stealth, attack OH kitten I GOT IN TOO DEEP hits INSTA STEALTH NO FADE TIME button.
Either remove stealth or give it freakin fade time, the current stealth is just dumb, it’s a get out of jail free card, especially when combined with all the dumb stun breaks that thieves have on their shortbow/utilities.
Well that’s not entirely fair, you can tell who the really bad ones are when their downed body/corpse materializes where they were standing when you immo’ed them entering stealth.
because if I’m inside the walls of a keep and you kill somebody outside, i didn’t exactly earn that kill
The effect of rampage as one is significantly better as long as you’re not just using it for travel. Rampage as one gives stability and more might, a lot more might.
I’m fairly certain that it already will share kill credit as long as he also tags the kill at least once. Meaning for things that require you meet a certain requirement to earn loot from them (do X damage), this requirement is shared amongst all party members who contributed at least SOME damage. This lets you tag a kill from a party member in any tiny hit but the same damage on something somebody not in your party is killing might not earn you credit.
Bryzy you’re pointing to requests for nerfs in pvp and then saying rangers are too weak in pve. These are different issues. If you go into competitive pvp you will find that rangers are highly used and yes, in pve they’re not terribly desirable but these are different balancing issues and the pve problem is because almost all pve content is as simple as faceroll zerker builds so the ‘best’ classes just do the most dps to a stationary npc and many of the mechanics that a ranger/engi/necro can accomplish or support don’t get considered.
you can not keep the stealth forever. Making it last is not an easy thing
Yes, yes you can. It is well known. It is posted on these forums. It has been pointed to by anet as something not intended in the design of the class. Please refrain from lying on the forums.
regardless of FIGHTING thieves, they can still permanently stealth themselves
Permastealth was removed. Stealth cannot be stacked higher than 12s.
and you can continue to stack it to 12s…
