One technique is to use ‘special’ characters to replace normal ones.
For example, the letter " e " becomes " è "
PvP is just one big mess of explosions, knockbacks, immobilizers, and burst damage all on low cooldowns.
There is no real time to consistently plan and/or pull-off strategy. This is really sad, and frustrating.
As separate armour pieces please.
As an outfit, up your butt! Passionately.
For pete’s sake, just give your character a surname!
Personally, I think most characters without surnames feel incomplete, almost as if their ‘owner’ couldn’t be bothered… which I’m sure is the case sometimes, which is sad.
From the viewpoint and experience of an active player since launch—and as a result, having accumulated quite an kitten nal of weapons, armour, crafting materials, maximum bag tabs, bag sizes and bank tabs…
it is excruciatingly apparent that an “armour rack” (build template system) is in dire need of implementation.
For example, drag and drop weapons, armour, trinkets and skills into an “armour rack”, type in a description, hit save. Reload the build when out of combat at your bank. Wallah.
What do you consider a lack of Quantity? The Gem store has been releasing new things nearly every other week since before HoT dropped, but especially now.
It may be that you are not aware that the ‘NEW!’ tags on many Gemstore releases are somewhat factually inaccurate, in that those items were previously released months or years earlier—they may be ‘new’, this month, but my post is largely about my experience of having been a long-time customer.
In the context of being an active player since launch, that is, having either worn or seen most of the combinations of armour available over a 3 year period, I am willing to pay 1000 to 2000 gems for a real armour set, or an appropriately lesser amount for individual pieces.
From my point of view, this game—and my experience—is suffering from a serious drought in armour options.
For the record, many Outfits are very nice, but unless they are p.e.r.f.e.c.t. (for me) I steer well-clear of them.
There are some nice items in the Gemstore.
However, as an active player since game-launch, I mostly have that feeling of walking into a store (like one might do in real life) and slowly pacing around not finding anything particularly eye-catching or interesting, then leave, somewhat disappointed.
This Guild Wars 2 Gemstore situation, for me, is frankly quite puzzling, in that the question arises; Is the lack of quantity a result of restrictive development policy, or a time constraint/time resources problem?
Create a ‘Poser’ kit;
The kit could allow the player to execute the full range of available animations in slow motion, and upon pressing a key, stop and hold that animation frame for subsequent screen shots.
Additional feature, “green room” toggle; press a button to turn all background environment graphics to bright green. Players could then ‘cut out’ their character for use in, whatever.
Any additions to the hairstyle library are always welcome.
It is good that there were both “covering eye” and “non-covering eye” versions of one new look, but the third option lacked this counterpart (i.e. there ought to have been four new hairstyles)
This is the first sword in a long time, that does not clip into the ground due to it’s length, when stowed on the hip—half the reason I bought it.
It is also beautiful, and ‘lean’, without any ridiculous edges or other highly impractical ’extras’—the other half of the reason I bought it.
I welcome more ‘modest’ weapons like this, across the board.
A player’s unlocked staff skins can be used as replacement skins for the riding broom
I think these titles should grant the player a defiance bar – even if it isn’t as ‘wicked’ as a mob champion’s.
I would buy certain pieces from certain outfits.
My personal ‘policy’ at present is to not buy any outfits (in protest at the lack of real armour releases)
Please consider adding more real armour pieces across the board, ASAP.
I’ll pay.
Add a gradual fade/dissolve on dead mobs, because the ‘insta-delete’ looks jarring and horrible.
I love the Pocket Raptors! Straight out of Jurassic Park! They’re great—they pose little threat, and it’s so satisfying to smash them all to bits with one or two swings of my Greatsword.
The medium armour trenchcoats are beyond a joke now. It’s become insulting really.
Anet can’t have missed the myriad posts about the trenchcoat /skirts issue over the past 3 years. It’s just, I dunno… stupid?
Grats. Any boosts, PvP weekends, etc?
And people say gw2 isn’t a grind
I used some boosters here and there, but I wouldn’t say I was ‘boosting hard’ by any stretch of the imagination—I’d often log on only intending to have a match or two, and so opted not to activate a boost then ended up playing for an hour or so and realise later I’d not boosted! doh! There were definitely a few PvP weekends in there somewhere—but I was never really paying attention.
I gotta say, looking back now, I didn’t feel it to be a ‘hard-slog’ (grind) at the time, because I was enjoying the fights. Having said that, I wouldn’t want to do it again!
I’d resolved to get the “Legendary Champion” title, and that was gonna take however long it was gonna take—400 hours or so! XD
Heart of Thorns is an amazing piece of work, a sincere thank you and congratulations Anet on your work of sheer excellence!
Your exciting addition of Legendary armour notwithstanding, I’ve but one ardent request for your future expansions— they need to come with a great deal more to the armour wardrobe. I am explicitly excluding outfits here.
The initial release saw an admirable collection in overall quantity of armour, however many pieces are now badly showing their age, with many looking drab and similar.
Previous suggestions from many forum-goers include a mirrored shoulder armour feature and dyeable weapons, and while these would certainly add some much-needed spice, I feel there needs to be a serious push in the release of core armour sets.
It makes little-to-no-difference whether one pre-pays or not.
One is either going to buy the expansion or one is not—if one is going to buy, one’s money is already spent regardless! So one may as well get whatever bonuses come with a pre-purchase (however meager they may be).
If one isn’t going to buy an expansion pack—the whole issue is moot.
I will definitely pre-purchase an additional expansion. Heart of Thorns is fantastic.
Nobody has actually ever seen God—only people walking around with that title. ;P
But granted, that may be the only other title that stands a chance.
Congratulations Anet development team on your implementation of a more advanced enemy combat AI and accompanying combat animations! They’re really great, thank you!
One big factor of my enjoyment in Guild Wars 2 has always been the combat animations;
The new ones for enemies in Heart of Thorns are especially wonderful! For example, the Coztic Hylek—their evade back-flips and dagger stabs are fast and fluid—an infinite improvement over other “stand-and-attack” mobs. Even with my experience and ascended armour, a small group of them can still catch me off guard and put me down sometimes, if I’m not careful!— a very much welcome and refreshing change from core Guild Wars 2 mobs.
I’m very much looking forward to even more in the future. Thanks again!
OK, straight up— How can you go past “Legendary Champion” as a title?
The term “legendary” in Guild Wars 2 is used to denote the pinnacle of achievement in terms of acquisitions, i.e. the top and final tier of weapons and armour. Likewise, the term “champion” is used to refer to the most powerful and dangerous enemies.
Therefore, the “Legendary Champion” title is unmatched—and can never be outdone by another title—in terms of nuance, at least.
Congratulations Anet development team on the Heart of Thorns gliding system! It’s really, really great. Thank you!
It’s so good, that frankly, I want more of it;
Currently, a fair deal of it suitably ‘leans’ toward a pseudo jumping puzzle theme.
I’d love to see additional areas devoted entirely to “the pleasure of the glide”—canyons and so forth with nicely positioned updrafts to keep one permanently up without the pressure of trying to find that next updraft before running out of endurance.
Also, horizontal drafts for speed!
Hi everyone,
Rank 80, 100% Ranger usage
Just thought I’d put this out there (screen cap.)
You can do all sorts of math here, but basically:
Average match time @ 10 minutes (max 15 mins) x 1344 matches
= 336 hours
+ average wait time per match of 3 minutes * 1344 matches = 67 hours just waiting
= 336 hours match time + 67 hours wait time
= final total 403 hours to reach Rank 80 with a 48% win/loss ratio
95% matches were with pugs, and no rank farming.

New Druid spell effects time on screen
The effects are nice, but I feel they need to ‘stay around’ a little longer – they seem to have gone before I notice they’ve been useful at whatever they’re supposed to have done
The production quality of HoT (at very least the intro this BETA weekend) I found to be of an excellent standard, I was really impressed.
The voice acting, the cut-scenes where Rytlock comes back, the map itself, just wonderful. I expect to see this level of quality continued —not abandoned—going forward.
I think it stands to reason that very few people would want to be (mainly) healers, if that meant that everyone else around them was scoring loot while they missed out.
Suggestion: Anyone who received a heal from player X and tagged an enemy with damage, the player X should also receive that same ‘tag’
Ranger staff animations
Need some love—the idle stance doesn’t feel ‘druid’, and a mere recycle of existing animations for other attacks, while understandably practical, is underwhelming.
(Particularly compared with the Revenant’s awesome animations)
Electrical Wyvern
The electrical effect is underwhelming—particularly when compared to the fire effect of the Fire Wyvern. I think a path of electricity across the ground not unlike the Druid staff ‘4’ skill would be an improvement.
Celestial Avatar time limit
I dislike that there is a time limit. The bar should reduce to zero only when Celestial Avatar skills are used. Why? Because while timing changing into C.A. may be an L2P issue, I feel ‘pressure’ after changing, when I wish I was feeling ‘freely empowered’, instead.
The agree, the animations for the Druid staff need some love.
The length of the sword when at the waist is too long, and/or the angle should be put slightly more horizontal. The attached screen shot illustrates the issue best.
It’s heartbreaking to see a large portion of the sword constantly clipped underground, it looks so bad.
(edited by Pure Heart.1456)
I think there’s only two ways to go with Ranger Spirits;
1) Remove them entirely, tweak/add/buff other existing traits accordingly
2) Make them something else; upon ‘activation’ the currently equipped Ranger skill sets change! – If bows – ice bow skill set! If axe, a new skill set like voracious vines etc. – ***no need to visibly see the spirits
And weapons while they’re at it.
A backpiece and weapon toggle option on login screen would be ace.
The OP is saying that NPCs are currently uninteresting, poorly animated, dull and (as somewhat of a side effect) obsolete in utility.
I would like to see merchants decked out with a greater variety of useful goods and services, rather than the same old mundane crap that no one ever buys.
(edited by Pure Heart.1456)
It’s hardly appropriate! The Zephyrites and their airship have been obliterated. Yeah, bring on the festivities and party on…
Sea of Sorrows is by far, a much better quality book than Ghosts of Ascalon and Edge of Destiny.
Having said that, Ghosts of Ascalon was an enjoyable read, while Edge of Destiny was a bit of a chore, its only saving grace being that we could get a closer look at what really happened to Destiny’s Edge.
As unused as spirits were before the recent patch, now they’re a joke.
Useless. Absolutely useless.
It’s changes like these that make we wonder if Anet actually plays their own game.
It’s heartbreaking.
This “blind eye” to the problem has pushed me over the edge. I don’t want to play anymore. Pushing buttons and having them accepted is the most basic part of ANY game. When I can’t do that then there is no game only frustration and I value my free time enough to say no more to the frustration.
This part of your post was particularly good.
Do you have a powerful CPU? (graphics might be fine, but game calculations are done on the CPU)
Can you test with another more powerful computer from your home? or, nearby residence?
In PvP, damage needs to be reduced across-the-board.
For example, even if someone chooses a “glass cannon” build, they shouldn’t be downed in one or two hits. It’s just, boring and un-fun. (I don’t play glass cannon)
Also, 1-2 shot kills with conditions/skill from Mesmers, also extremely lame.
I mean, what’s the point of having all these builds and strategies if you can’t pull any of them off because you’re dead, or you can’t see any of them shine through because you’ve killed someone in 2 seconds?
Reduce damage please.
Just make a norn if it has all the options you want?
Yeah, got two Norn already. Want to play human, but, yuck.
I’ve almost got the “Legendary Champion” title.
Obviously, there are a lot of factors that need to come together to create this feeling of too much CC. But frankly, regardless of whether certain people have “a problem” with it, does come down to a great deal to build – stun breaks etc.
As I was saying, unless you sacrifice a slot or two (or trait) for those stun breaks, with every profession just spamming CC, its just an unpleasant, un-fun experience, and forces people into making those sacrifices.
Longer cool downs on the CC.
In PvP, there are too many immobilizers, invulnerabilities and knockdowns on too short cool-downs.
It feels like every single profession is just endlessly spamming these, and I think it negatively impacts the game because other skills are consequently deemed inferior and are therefore unused, and it also forces others into using specific traits/builds in order to simply avoid being knocked around like a rag doll the entire match.
1) There is no “muscle” texture (similar to the Norn).
.You can give your character a six pack
I mild one, but it can only be selected along with the skinny torso/large legs combination
Writing in to express my dissatisfaction with the human female character creation models;
1) There is no “muscle” texture (similar to the Norn).
2) The backside (bottom, bum) is ridiculously misshapen and ugly.
3) It’s only one or the other; large torso/skinny legs or skinny torso/large legs.
Request;
At least add a muscle texture option.
Why aren’t backpieces and weapons shown at the log in screen?
And Anet, don’t you dare add them, without an option to toggle them off and on!
Indeed, gw2’s community is the best!
Now, who should i send the 50 silver to?
I can’t wait to see the post with the screenshot you mentioned, krzygum…
Any perceived jokes aside, I’ll be middle man, seriously. I’ll post screens of every incoming mail of everyone who donated, and when the sum is complete, I’ll post the screen of my Griffon Carrier delivering the coin to OP.
How about if everyone here donates 10 to 50 silver to OP? I’ll serve as middle man, to ensure he doesn’t run off with your donations…

Now, who should i send the 50 silver to?
