It does suck a little ‘missing’ out.
But what do you expect them to do, have a “one-time only event” that makes permanent changes to the world, multiple times?

We can’t all be everywhere at once in this world, this life. That’s just how the cookie crumbles.

For the record, I’m pulling a double shift tomorrow, likely out and about on saturday, and have obligations every sunday. I will miss this sunday’s 1-time only event chain, and any future 1-time only event chains that they decide to have on sunday. I’m going to miss out on this event completely. I’m one example of what the OP is trying to get at.

OP’s post is golden.

I have always been a huge fan of blocking and evasion, it is heartbreaking that so few games implement it. Instead, they just expect you to take the hits—that’s so kitten Brain dead, dumb kitten.

The ONE good block skill (complete with cool animation) that they did add, (Greatsword block/whirl kick) has a kitten-long cool-down = fail.

With the exception of the Chef profession, all of the others’ discovery gameplay does not truly consist of discovery at all;

It is very transparent and dull. We are even informed of what to ‘discover’ a few levels before each new tier.

Please add to the world some treasure hunts/quests/hints that reveal what exciting items can be crafted if one were to acquire certain materials. etc. etc. Use imagination its easy.

Gosh, I sell all my green items to the PvE merchants. Do I get more on the TP for them??

It bother me because is impossible to sell most of the items cause most of them are sold at a final earning LOWER than the one you get from a basic merchant, and sell a green item to a basic merchant is sad.

Straight up, at this point, I don’t think that the game is “dying”. Frankly, I see no evidence for it.

If you’re defeated legitimately, maybe a run-back to action is acceptable.
BUT,
If you got one-shotted, or caught up in some other punishing death trap, the run-back would just suck too hard I’m afraid.

And right now, there’s waaaay too many damage spikes that one-shot you.

This is a no-brainer.

1) Make veteran/champion AI unique!—have them literally behave quite differently—and for the love of kittens, reduce HP!

2) Behave differently, interestingly; Attack one player, then quickly switch to another, have them run away from the players then leap back at the player farthest away. Have them stop mid-fight, jump to a high ledge, taunt the player, then jump attack back down on a random player…. The possibilities are endless.

Providing the option to hide the commander icon reduces a significant reason for getting the commander status in the first instance.

This scenario is undesirable both for the commander, and Anet.

Whilst I don’t agree with a complete hide function, there could be improvements made to how, when and where it displays.

For the love of kittens, please realise that;

1) Mega hitpoint mobs (trash or bosses)
2) Hard-hitting, One-shot killer mobs (trash and to some extent bosses)
3) “just kill everything” dungeons (for every dungeon)

ARE NOT FUN.

Mobs (trash and bosses) with special abilities and/or attributes that require a special attack/method to bring them down ARE FUN, provided they don’t One-shot kill every 5 seconds.

There is a serious lack of hairstyles, and options for the shaping of the face! Its so restrictive! Also, all hairstyles should be available for all classes. (With the exception of the Sylvari perhaps)

Elder Scrolls Oblivion, and Age of Conan had a much wider range of sliders.

Appreciate all the stories folks!

A few in here asked directly which bosses were 1-shotting—I would prefer not to name them because that really wasn’t the point of the OP.
In general, I don’t mind 1-shot kills—but they shouldn’t be frequently used as the primary method to make a dungeon difficult.

Frequent 1-shot kills do not = “Ooh, this is a hard dungeon”.—Its just dumb kitten .

I will liken how it looks, feels and plays with a ‘story’ example of my own;
A veteran warrior trained for battle from birth, his skill with the bow and sword exemplary. Standing resolute before his men facing the enemy, he shouted “CHARGE!!” But before he could unsheathe his blade from its scabbard, a rifle bullet pierced his breast, killing him instantly.

Why Level 80? (Why not 100?)

So, why is the level cap ‘80’? I mean, ‘100’ looks and sounds like a better number—that is, if you had to have a cap at all.

Which brings me to my next topic;

Why have a cap?—Even if there is never any content created for characters exceeding level 80, the stats and level value could theoretically be left to increase indefinitely. Afterall, we’re all down-levelled to match the region’s level.

That way, you could have a nice visual display (ego! warning) to other players, of exactly how much XP you’ve earned.

Thoughts?

I think a straight simple answer is on order;

Want faster graphics? The graphics card is everything.

The OP would be better of putting all his cash into a new graphics card.
Faster CPUs will offer little-to-no benefit in this case.

I would like to see less frequent 1-shot kills from bosses in dungeons.
Because its fun to have a challenge, but frequent 1-shot kills are too “unforgiving”. Additionally, I feel the dodge limit being set to 2 isn’t enough to deal such harsh circumstances. 3 would be more acceptable.

I would like to see bosses fight more intelligently, more dynamically, more lively… For example, they could run and jump away from players for a few moments, instead of relentlessly pursuing players in a bee-line.

What do people think about these unforgiving (harsh) dungeon experiences?

The solution to the OP is not to introduce the silly “trinity”.

Instead;

1) Reduce the frequency of 1-shot kill attacks by bosses
2) Change the AI of the bosses to fight more “intelligently”, in a more interesting way, changing their targets more often.

I would like to see 1v1 duelling in PvE and/or PvP (WvW) zones.

How
Right click player, choose “Request Duel”. If the recipient of the offer accepts, both players become immune to all damage from all other players, but not from mobs or the environment.

Fighting in cities should be allowed, but after a few seconds should be interrupted by the Lionguard! (Hence, no fighting in cities)

The choice to help others is a free and personal one, but the universal law of “you reap what you sow” applies in Guild Wars 2 just as it does in real life.

However, in GW2 just as in real life, many people are simply not fully aware of this fact, and therefore act as they do, i.e. choosing not to resurrect a fallen player, thinking their only loss being the in-game XP & karma, when in truth they are losing much more.

Even if we discard completely the said law, there is still the matter of common decency and compassion for others—those that choose not to resurrect others (as is their rightful choice) are, in most cases, simply lacking said decency and compassion.

Would you force them to resurrect others? Punish them with a loss of XP and karma?

Through not resurrecting others, they will, in the end, understand that it is better to help others. Or, they will not, and continue to run past those in need of aid—Regardless of which outcome, they will “reap what they sow”. And that, is not anyone else’s business, for we all “reap what we sow.”

For the record, I read your wall of text.

Life, games—this game, are what you make it. That said, what would you like to be able to do after hitting L80?

The game has been out for less than a month, I’m confident there will be much more to come in the way of added features and content—but that won’t solve your immediate issue.

Personally, I am interested in exploring the entire world 100%, and maxing out (most) of the achievements. Largely because the world is beautiful, and because spending the necessary time to do this opens up a social aspect to GW2;

In real life, what’s to do after you get your job, money, house, car, wife and kids?—Eat food, travel and spend time with friends talking about… job, money, house, car, wife and kids.

Add the possibility to take an aerial tour of Tyria.

Suggestions on how;
1) Players with 100% map exploration could enter a “flight mode” (invisible to other players) where they may freely fly about the landscapes (but not able to interact)

2) Add flying mounts — mountable from set locations, allowing free flight as in (1) above, but visible to other players, though no interaction with the environment or players/mobs is possible until you dismount.

There is so much beauty in the environments, its a shame they can not be enjoyed more fully through flight.

There are two separate issues;

1) Mounts for “cool factor”, and,
2) Mounts for travel speed.

—Cool Factor—
The “cool factor” drops substantially as the sheer number of players with mounts increases; You can not have every ‘man and his dog’ running about the world with their pet. (pun intended), without negative consequences.

The solution would be to award mounts only to those having earned say, 100% map exploration on 85%+ of Tyria, or some other challenging requirement.

—Mounts for travel speed—
Waypoints and speed buffs partially solve some long travel times.
So the notion of adding mounts solely for the purpose of increased travel speed is misplaced, and the negative consequences of large numbers of players mounting, dismounting and generally ‘galloping’ chaotically in and out of populated areas outweigh the benefits.

The issue of adding mounts to GW2 requires a great deal of thought, and clever design decisions and programming lest you risk breaking the game on many fronts.

I was very excited when I first saw this Giant at Nageling, but very disappointed when all he ever did was slowly mope about stomping. Then I was disappointed again when it was obvious the HP were ridiculously high. Then I was yet again disappointed when no loot spawned. I cried out, “/say WHERE IS THE LOOT!??” A reply came, “/say He was ghetto”. That witty comment was a partial saving grace to the event.

Anyone seen the movies, “HULK”? You know, the big green comic-book hero?
Well THAT’S almost as fast and as dynamic as this giant at Nageling should move around. OK, maybe not that fast, but hopefully you get my point.

I experienced this severe network lag just recently, and, solved it.
I am not going to mention all the basic things to try, save this;

Has your PC been compromised? (Virus/malware) Check your Windows 7 firewall status. Can you turn it on or off? If you can not, and receive Windows error messages, its likely your PC has been compromised and there is disruption to your network. Windows 7 re-install very likely necessary.

I played through levels 10 to 65 with the same visual “coat” armour, because there appeared to be only two to three other styles—and I didn’t like them.

AND/OR, allow transmutation of visual styles between the Light, Medium and Heavy armours. *If necessary limit it to non-rares etc.

I say increase the benefits of food;
+10XP per kill? Trivial.
+10XP per kill after L80? Pointless.

(Why go to all the trouble to find mats, craft, then eat/sell for cheap when no-one cares about the meager benefits/buffs?)
