They seem to just brush this off by saying that making these takes alot of time and work but they seem to have the time to make MANY cash shop skins.

But as for the topic, they should have some light coats not just robes and some heavy armour that covers the butt.

And as it’s been said time and time again armor is many, many times harder than an outfit due to it’s mix and match, piece meal nature.

It’s harder to fly into outer space than it is to fly around the Earth. So, let’s not fly into space then? What the hell, just give us our real armour! Nobody cares “how hard it is”. There is no substitute for quality

Why limit the number of shared inventory slots!!??
This totally blew my mind, and annoyed me at the same time.
Same goes for bank tab slots – having said that, after 3 years Anet finally allowed an additional 2 — but only 2!?? What’s with the limits?? Mind blown.

New armor skins

Pure Heart.1456

Anet has said that armor skins (particularly full sets) aren’t going to be released on the gem store anymore. Those will be reserved for content rewards, while outfits will remain gem store.

Oh please, for god’s sake, I’m so tired of hearing this unhelpful information.
The player base wants more armour. (There is no-one who would legitimately say, “Anet, don’t create more armour pieces, just create outfits.”)

That said, even if they’re not going to put real armour in the in Gem store, who cares!!? Put them in the kittening game instead then, and hurry the kitten up about it!

Put armour in the open world rewards systems.

Man-made loot from nature mobs

…is completely and utterly kittened.
That a pink Moa or a Fresh Water Crab could somehow be hoarding an axe, gold coins or other man-made loot is ridiculous and breaks any immersion one might wish to find in a game.

As ‘yucky’ as I feel this is, I can’t see this changing any time soon. But could someone try and explain the mentality behind such a ‘design’ decision?

Pure Heart.1456

At some point in time, I do wonder when this discussion became about legendary armor, instead of about then nature of raiding in MMOs as a whole.

That may be partially my fault and I apologize.

The OP does talk about so much more and I was hoping to get discussion going on making your characters more personalized to instill more personality to your character besides the whole skin-race that results in most people settling on a look like their wardrobe projectile vomitted on their character model.

ArenaNet did away with the “RPG” personality element (Heart, Crown, Fist) a long time ago and it ain’t coming back—in it’s previous form or an updated one.

The first step in improving the armour situation—and this could almost be scripted automatically on various levels—is to ‘export’/add all the non symmetrical shoulder armour as symmetrical versions.

You can google the math but (roughly) you have a 12% chance of stringing a 3 game streak together against a (roughly) 6% of getting 4 wins in a row.

Put simply, you are twice as likely to be able to put a 3 win streak together as a 4 win streak.

This!

People offering gold to AFK

No, that’s not it.
Some guy in my team made the offer—the thought had never occurred to me actually—so I added to his offer, on that occasion.
People were joking, “I’m a Guardian, I don’t take bribes”.

Anyway, my point here being that this PvP experience is so bad that people are offering bribes.

Pure Heart.1456

Yes, 4 wins to get 5 pips, or if you are losing, some people seem to think, lose 3, then they need to win 3 to get 5 pips. So you can see why some people do this.

Sorry, those people are idiots. It is always, 100%, the same number of games at best. There is zero benefit to losing intentionally and there is no argument to the contrary. Counting to 5 isn’t complicated math.

People with mindsets like yours are why the gaming experience is so kittening awful. As ‘beautiful’ or ‘correct’ as the math or programming might be, human experience doesn’t correlate.

People offering gold to AFK

Pure Heart.1456

People are starting to offer payments of gold for their opponents to AFK and throw the match. It’s that bad. It’s that desperate.

Last match in a would-be 3-win-streak to hit next tier, some guy was begging the other team. …and I thought, why not offer the same, as I was also in the same position. So I did, they didn’t accept, and we lost.

I hate this new system, it’s rigged.

The biggest problem with the pip system

in PvP

Posted by: Pure Heart.1456

Pure Heart.1456

A related concept is that it’s sometimes better to lose 3 matches in a row.

For example, starting from zero pips (after a losing streak and then winning) gets you two pips, so you only need 3 wins in a row to hit next tier.

However, if you’re at 1 pip, you need to win -4- matches in a row so statistically it’s harder to hit next tier than in the example of starting from zero pips.

Lame.

Indeed, I pointed this out in a thread at the start of the season
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/AFK-is-back/first#post6003788

Nice to see you have a similar attitude to not throwing games as I do, but sadly I fear this attitude is not the prevalent one and along with the **** matchmaking and lack of action by Anet,. has contributed to the situation where afk’ing during matches is now becoming an ‘acceptable’ norm.

Are you guys serious? This is never the case. Ever. Even if you’re at a checkpoint in the irrelevant lowbie brackets that nobody cares about. It is NEVER better to lose for a losing streak than it is to win.

You can’t just say “yeah I only need 3 wins” and completely disregard the LOSS it took to give you the losing streak. Yeah, without a losing streak its 4 wins to get 5 pips. But in order to get the losing streak, you first have to LOSE. AKA L-W-W-W. AKA 4 games.

It’s not complicated. It’s a benefit for you if you already lost. It is never better to lose for the streak.

No, I’m sorry it is better to lose. Because this is a gamble, not a game of skill. The wins and losses are givens in a random system. You don’t control the wins or losses. If it was all about skill, then you’re closer to being right, but it ain’t that.

Ruby division makes people hate PvP

in PvP

Posted by: Pure Heart.1456

Pure Heart.1456

Should average players stay in the middle divisions because that’s where they belong at their skill level? This retains prestige and only improving skill will allow climbing,

Except it doesn’t. There are —five-- other players on one’s team that determine the outcome of the match. Improved skill of a single player will not translate into climbing out of a division. In addition, overpowered classes/builds do even more to ruin this prospect.

Is there an incentive that could be added to league games for players who have reached their appropriate division and can no longer climb?

Of course there is! But isn’t that what the developers are paid to come up with!!?? A start would be to implement a way for people to see that the system either is or isn’t screwing them over. Show total games played, total games played for currently selected class, current division, current pips. As long the system is a non-transparent one, you’re going to have people calling “bullkitten” forever.

Pure Heart.1456

Every ‘naysayer’ to the this post is entirely missing my point, and it’s frustrating.

One really lame thing about MMOs to date is that the ‘mobs’, are sparsely sprinkled around the maps, they are just waiting for you to go and kill them. They’re just idly standing there, looking dumb, that’s it. They don’t serve any other purpose. One person suggested here that if I wanted a challenge I could take my gear off and go hunting these ‘dumb’ mobs. This is precisely not what I want to do.

I am proposing that at least in some areas of the game, there be mobs that _serve the purpose of making your access to a location challenging. Bridge guards would be one example.

Currently, players can just run right past every single mob everywhere, anywhere in Tyria. Lame, boring.

Maybe I’m crap, even after so many games—-I don’t mind losing, just pair me with evenly matched players for god’s sake! I don’t care what your programmers thought would be good logically or mathematically — the matchmaking system is THE WORST. You might have beautiful, logical code, but the gameplay experience is *everything, and IT SUCKS!

Why?

Because 90% of the matches are blow outs, win or lose.
There is an uncanny pattern of disallowing progression, if it’s not intended—kittened code—if it is intended—kittened code. I’ve heard all the arguments for and against “progression” and “prestige”, and you know what, if you can spend $200,000 on PvP prize money you can sure as kitten hire someone to come up with some ideas on how to provide a pleasurable PvP gameplay experience.

I’ve played a ton of games, and it’s been the single most infuriating experience over several weeks clawing my way to Sapphire T5. I’m obviously not the only one having this experience.

I have several ideas for improvements; But do you really need them here?? Do you not have a professional team brainstorming?? What the hell.

I have 2300 hours logged and completed all Heart of Thorns maps.
That said, I would like to clarify my original post;

I am not suggesting the open world be riddled with impassable obstacles and enemies.
It is however currently the exact opposite — a massive barren wasteland with not a single deadly enemy blocking a path anywhere in the entire continent.

Other than the enjoyment of a scenic tour, there is absolutely no challenge and therefore little reason to revisit the zones for purposes of, well, combat – which is what the majority of this game revolves around.

Why people have to be so ‘extreme’ I don’t know.

One element missing from gameplay

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pure Heart.1456

Pure Heart.1456

There are no bottlenecks of danger, no deadly enemies thwarting advancement, anywhere.

Players can traverse/reach 100% of the area within a map, without facing a deadly enemy(s) blocking said access. The same holds true for the travel between between maps.

All of the maps are sparsely populated with face-roll easy mobs. There are no “holy crap! … run!” moments, or, requests for others players to escort one another through danger zones. —Dungeons/Raids excluded.

It is often said, that it is not the destination, but the journey itself that holds the most reward. I feel that this is, in part, missing from Guild Wars 2 for said reasons.

I hope that in future expansion packs, the open areas themselves will present more of a challenge. Heart of Thorns was definitely a step in the right direction!

One of the most frustrating experiences one can have in any game is to have control taken away from their player object.

This happens in a big way in PvP. In fact, most tactics revolve around it.
Immobilize, knockback, chill… then when this gets doubled and tripled as each player adds their own ‘layer’ on top of it, the end result is a character unable to move for 10 seconds all the while getting their head smashed in.

It really sucks.

Emote causes backpiece disappearance

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pure Heart.1456

Pure Heart.1456

As most are no doubt aware, using an emote cause the backpiece to disappear until the emote is over.

There is a semi-way around this, and that is to switch to one’s equipment screen and toggle the backpiece on and off, whereby it becomes visible again.

Please fix this situation. If not ‘properly’, implement an auto togggle on/off script when executing emotes.

People should be able to see their own MMR in the PvP panel. But it’s a bad idea to make them be able to see all the MMR.

It’s like everyone should know how much gold they have, but they shouldn’t know how much gold other players have. If you want to know how much gold your friend has, ask them. They have the right to tell you how rich they are or tell you that’s privacy. It’s the same thing for MMR. People should know their MMR and has the right to share it or not, but it shouldn’t be public.

in PvP

Pure Heart.1456

Very dissatisfied with PvP, particularly this season 2.

Nobody likes to to lose, and it’s the way in which one loses that makes it most unpleasant;

1) Close games are almost non existent. It’s either 639 vs 25 loss, or vice versa.
2) Endless losing streaks obliterate any feeling of progression.
3) An uncanny (deliberate?) system of “win 1, lose 1, win 1, lose 1” (when not in a losing streak) This is even more frustrating than #2.
4) Balance issues; there are a few classes/builds with overpowered damage combos or invulnerabilities.

I’ll continue to play because I’m after the wings, but continuing on for fun, I am most certainly not.

TLDR; Season 2 is an incredibly kittening unpleasant experience.

Look, this is a very simple issue;
Both from Anet’s point of view and from the players’.
Here’s how it’s going to go down;

1) Anet creates ‘Armour Stands’, sold in the gem store at say, 700 gems per stand, that then appear in your home instance.
2) Players equip these ‘Armour Stands’ with the actual real armour, weapon, trinket and back pieces that they have in their inventory (It goes without saying that the pieces disappear from the inventory and are assigned to the armour stand), also selecting their specializations.
3) In all game modes, players may press a key to ‘summon’, ‘warp in’, ‘teleport’, ‘display’ (take your pick of a word) before them, all the armour stands that they have set up in their home instance. They player may then press ‘F’ over one of the summoned Armour Stands to equip that load-out.
