AFAIK they work as intended. The only reason they won’t rez somebody is if they’re below 33% health with Poison on them. Rez utilities heal someone for 100% of their downed health. Poison reduces that. Just cleanse the poison before you use them. It was something good Shoutbows did back when they were meta.
It’s far too easy to get someone below 33% health now. Yes, I still use them.
With the new down state, please fix res utilities to actually work. People are brought so low that even when you cast a res they are not revived.
I’m getting one shot by thieves from stealth, again.
Mesmer already suffered years of being a certain kill for thieves and now we’re back to it again.
I just adore being laughed at by thieves who can attack from stealth and kill me in less than a second.
Next, I’ll start being told I’m “just bad” and “l2p” right?
At what point are you going to start accepting the responsibility for losing match ups? If a thief opens on you from stealth:
1. Play with your volume turned up.
2. You have blink.
3. You have distortion.
4. You may have blind on shatter.
5. You may have block or evasion.
You have plenty of answers for thief right now. Not to mention, the real problem of burst from stealth 100-0 isn’t thieves, but it is mantra Mesmer. Even then, I would say the same thing to anyone, play with your volume on.
I think Courtyard would be a huge mistake. After all, a major reason population is low is massive stomps. Courtyard promotes just that.
No, please… It’s dead, let it lie.
Stomps aren’t the reason population is low. Population is low because the development/balance cycles are way too slow.
In order to rank, I’ll add this one clarification. My rank would be the build with the most favorable match ups. Here it is:
1. Condi Mesmer
2. Menders Druid
3. Symbols Guard/Power Rev
The only thing Elixir S needs is the ability to manually remove it.
Would that be so bad? I mean, Ancestral Grace (druid staff 3) is a <15s cooldown traited.
That’s 1200 distance. It evades the entire time. It’s also a blast finisher, and it heals for 1500. Oh, and it’s targeted, so you can choose the distance and direction.
Rocket Boots on the other hand.. 900 distance, no evade, blast finisher, no heal, not targeted, cures soft cc. Longer cooldown unless you take a clunky/bad gadgeteer trait.
I appreciate your thoughts on this though, and agree that a stun break might be too good in pvp. I don’t think it’d be unreasonable to have 1200 distance and evades though, like Druid Staff 3, considering we’re giving up a very valuable skill slot to get it.
So all you have done was made a case for Ancestral Grace to be nerfed. Which it should and has been in that discussion category, still, for quite some time.
You sure are mad about people cooperating for their collective benefit in daily rooms.
Did you try to troll one and get wrecked?
This is not the intended effect of dailies. As a matter of fact, when people attempted to do this in the past (to gain rank points), it was admonished by A-Net.
1. Don’t overreact to Bound.
2. Catch them at the end of their evade frames on Vault.
3. After you condi-bomb them, stop attacking. They’ll have to condi-cleanse with shadow return. Now time and use your cc.
4. Watch them disengage.
5. Prepare to die as you’re now out of defensive cd’s and they’re coming back from resetting.
You know two of them might work well in tandem as a ganking team….
What build by the way? Using Balthazar, FT, EG, and S?
Standard build:
P/P, FT, TK, S
Are you that lazy to take like a minute to clean your inventory? It’s not hard, open as much as you can, use salvage-o-matic to auto salvage everything, deposit, and rinse repeat. You’ll be done before your next queue pops and you’ll probably still have enough time to run in circles for a bit.
The rewards are rubbish. The only thing that has any real appeal are the transmutation charges.
They somewhat had rewards correct early on. When in pvp, you would get pvp skins based on rank. At least that was somewhat enjoyable.
I have never encountered a game that continues to get rewards wrong for a single game mode. I’ve played the full gamut of MMO’s and never have I hated receiving a “reward” like I do in GW2.
1. There are other builds that put out more condition pressure.
2. This builds literally dies in one condi-bomb.
“BETA” designation means, we’ll pretend to take input on the map and then change nothing to test. The camera is terrible and if you get downed where the glass was (certain spots) you bounce up and down and your downed state ability gets interrupted. Yeah, but please add this “BETA” map into the rotation without any further testing AFTER implementing changes.
There’s no combo in this game that you cannot pull off without a macro. Mantra Mesmer burst requires the most button presses and that is easily doable without a macro, especially with the feature that locks onto targets for abilities. That being said, some people will use macros because they cannot pull them off.
I often wonder how many on the pvp team bite their tongues in speaking out against the company for the direction the game has gone. I bet most of them want to just come out and say it isn’t them, but it’s their supervisor’s decisions that has led the game down this path.
Revenant – Rev is now weak against condis AND CC. Will probably drop out of ESL teams and top lvl play.
Why would it drop out? Retribution wasn’t the trait line of choice AND there is nothing to replace Revenant except thieves. Revenant, despite its nerfs, is still the top tier power build; which shows you how ridiculously over tuned they were to begin with.
The patch didn’t shift anything, it was an embarrassment of a “balance” patch. The game is stale and these patches should shake things up. Unfortunately, it fell flat.
Hey CMC, why don’t you guys do something about GS if you already acknowledge that it is behind staff and main hand/wh for power builds? What’s the problem?
You should try playing against the actual PvP players in the Anet dev team. Those guys are nothing to scuff at.
Can’t tell if serious…
It’s not the damage type it’s the ability, for those builds, to sustain which is the issue.
Grouch, are you going to nerf my precious symbolic guardian and make me sad again or nah?
Yes, please do and thank you.
Not a guardian’s fault you pickef thf.
Translation please.
Grouch, are you going to nerf my precious symbolic guardian and make me sad again or nah?

Hire more employees.
They have created this environment and only further encouraged it by continuing to force new players into the game without a proper tutorial AND then by matching them with/against veteran players.
This company doesn’t have the resources to do anything that actually makes sense for pvp. It’s a small group of staff members making the most out of a crappy situation.
It’s a small group of staff that hasn’t decided on a concept and keeps changing everything to “shake things up”, if they allocated their resources accordingly and set forth an actual concept it wouldn’t be an issue.
Right now with them finally allowing for separate gamemode balance they could implement small balance tweaks on a shorter schedule which if done properly and actually attempt for a semblance of balance will draw more players in and would increase their resources, one way they could be able to have the resources for these balances for pvp would be to give the pvp dev team control over class balance solely for pvp skills and traits.
The biggest issue it seems is they are setting a lot of their resources on future content before setting up a foundation of balance in the mean time.
The concept of separating balance by game mode is all lip service. Sure you’re going to have minor tweaks that they separate, but they don’t have the resources to manage it the way they want you to believe they can. This was completely evident when they stated that the pvp team does not do the balancing. They also have no direction, because they lack the man power to push in any given direction. They are simply in game maintenance mode.

When is the next balance patch?
Revenant needs condi-clear, sure…
But it doesn’t deserve condi-clear. It was intentionally designed to be weak towards condi’s.
People need to stop spouting off this nonsense that they don’t have the means to deal with conditions. They DO, it’s just built into their meta build. Even within their meta build they have ways of dealing with conditions, compare that to other power builds and it is definitely on par with those.
only because the metasheep revenant build doesnt have condi clears doesnt mean that the whole class doesnt have them
There’s a reason they play that build. If you have team support you’re unstoppable with it. It’s the apex predator of power builds in team comps.
I think their survivablity is fine. I’ve had trouble dropping them on my guardian.
I do love landing a moa on a necro in shroud (with my mesmer) with 10% hp left though. It feels so fun to totally ruin their day.
I agree, moa needs another nerf. It needs to be a projectile that can be reflected. Thank you A-Net!
Thats what you get for playing that boring build
I hear the ele has the best build diversity and can play DPS builds.
So, we’ll likely change things in phases so we don’t over-correct. Here’s what we’re thinking for a phase 1:
- Reduce downstate invuln duration to around .1s. This means you still get the full condi cleanse, but you can keep cleaving.
- Cap rally distance.
Thoughts?
Edit for clarity: these would be PvP-only changes. Also, not including any skill proposals at this point.
Seems like a good start. The downstate HP and rez heal per tick needs to be reduced as well. Rally should be eliminated from PvP entirely.
Yeah, no it adds choices to the encounter. Do you attempt to stomp or res? Does your decision to try to cleave when someone else is stomping your teammate cause a rally. I like those decisions.
Dear Anet, please give actual banns to afk’ers. They ruin game for other 9 players and go unpunished all the time.
Say a word on forums – get insta banned. People grief other players in game – nothing is done about it. Why? Why is griefing in game is accepted?
What do you suggest they do Cynz? I have been reported for things like going far point, for running away from lost fights, for defending home against a thief/rev that keeps trying to decap, and running a certain build.
I wouldn’t trust any player driven reporting system in this game given what I have experienced.
Typically you would provide screen shots or videos when you really want something done.
Of course they don’t do anything. The report feature is to give you the feel that they may do something, when they do not. This has been proven time and time again where you have the same people doing it and multiple people reporting them.
Unless you’re keeping a log of the account that AFK’s and when, how do you know? How do you know that they weren’t just given a suspension?
I have reported several people for map hacking as well and they’re still playing and are still doing it.
Suspension =/ Ban. For all we know they were suspended and are back to what they are doing after the suspension ended. Or it’s someone entirely different doing it.
You have no idea of the frequency, where as I do. You end up playing with and against a lot of the same people. If you block them you can check your block list. If they have been doing for over 2 years and you have reported them multiple times AND they still haven’t been banned, then A-net’s system is useless.
You have some insider knowledge that only someone from Anet would have? Did Anet release a report that I’m not aware of? Anet has frequently stated that they prefer suspensions to bans unless the actions are truly terrible.
I was speaking about the frequency of the exploiters exploiting. They do it all of the time and they’re still doing it. They have been reported multiple times by multiple people. There are no more deserving actions than repeatedly cheating in matches to warrant a ban.

It’s inappropriate, imo, to add a reward for something after the fact. You either announce it during season 1 or you don’t do it.

I think what Ithilwen is trying to get at is that being competitive and being a jerk/salt dispenser are mutually exclusive ideas. You can compete and be competitive without being malicious to others.
There’s always going to be that one person who’s a jerk to everyone no matter what but for the love of all that’s good just at least be honest about it. Just come out and say “Yo I’m a jerk because I can”. Don’t hide behind the “competition” justification/excuse (or any other justification/excuse) as a reason to be a jerk to others.
Talking has always been a part of most competitions. Playing head games can tilt matches in your favor.
Yes, I reiterate that S4 matchmaking is the best so far. I was more getting at the attitude I’m seeing.
It’s not about playing the game. It’s about stomping someone hard and laughing afterwards.
Yeah…welcome to pvp. If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.
I don’t need to speculate whether or not it works, it does. I’ve played it as have others. Feel free to step into 001. The same people who play it there play it in ranked as well.
It is not speculation. It is looking at the numbers. And i dont see how you can get, with such a low number of bleeds (and the lack of other damage conditions), condition damage that comes even close to to the numbers scepter or even staff can produce.
It’s the most condition heavy build there is. Accompany that, if you run a hybrid amulet, very good power damage. Log in and join that server on any given night.
A culture of nastiness has been fostered or at least tolerated.
Many players don’t come to play a game. They come to vent there angst. It’s not playing to win, it’s playing to troll. It’s living for the 5 v 1 and the instant stomp.
Then, they say oh you’re crying, (salty.)
There’s this belief that , “I have a right to do whatever I want because the game lets me. Besides, my boss yelled at me today so I need to spend 4 hours stomping noobs to make myself feel powerful.” No wonder the “community” shows no signs of growing.
If ANET wants PvP to grow.. it needs to be a game, not a chance for people to use newcomers as punching bags.
My experience has been the merging of veterans and newer players, who have no business being in ranked matches, being partnered on the same team. The game needs a proper tutorial and new players need an avenue to learn to play the game that is not within, what is supposed to be, the competitive aspect of the game.
You still passively stack 25 might like nothing, still have aoe CC, moa, aoe stealth, etc etc etc omfg if you want to see what a profession never played by the devs looks like go try an ele! You’re made of paper, you do no kittening dmg and have the lowest stats in the game just to make sure you’re free kill for the rest
Eles were the strongest class in PvP. I’m sure you got a ton of your wins when Eles were basically immortal with Diamond Skin. Anet then heard the cries of the forums, and decided that bunkers were not healthy to PvP. So in that same mindset, Druids are slowly creeping to the levels of Ele.
I’m not asking for game breaking nerfs to Druids. Just some adjustments to pull them back down to a nice balance.
Ele being nerfed to the ground got nothing to do with principle of balance.
Diamond skin was the only true defense, eles had against the absurd condi bursts that HoT brought, atm we have classes like condi berseker, condi chrono, etc etc that can apply several condis in a short time interval ( every 6-8s) .Against such amount of condis, eles are forced to fire every single condi clear they have to stay alive as they haven’t got a full condi clear, max each utility can clear 2 condis if traited with runes and they will have min 25s CD each ( shout)
Diamond skin was there to stop cheese specs from emerging and from single handily control any fight, it forced rotations like “we can’t send a thief to 1vs1 the scrapper on close”
The question is not why Diamond skin was removed..it’s why was introduced in the first place
Jon Peters
Just getting these out there so we know we are all in agreement:
1) Conditions seem a bit strong
2) World bosses are currently too easy
3) There are some bugged skills and traits
4) There are some overpowered builds
We won’t fix it all at once but these are four large topics we are talking about. In the meantime keep the feedback and bug reports coming, and I guess farm up some world bosses. We are dedicating time towards these issues and are intending to resolve them as quickly as possible. As we have said before, the live environment differs too greatly from anything we can reliably simulate internally so big changes like today’s build will cause things to sometimes change at an alarming rateTM.
Thanks for your patience,
JonJon Peters before he left for Amazon, the devs know that condis are out of hand…they should nerf condis but they won’t because that would upset the “community” and that goes against the principle of balance
Diamond skin was nerfed..but they didn’t remove stupid easy builds like condi war and condi mes, condi thief and condi necro..why?
indecisive game developers that are either too easily broken by whiners or plainly change their minds about their game design every now and then
There are also players who play classes with similar roles or build focuses and wish to see their competition weakened. You have them in every game and they are usually your sinister allies. Guys that play with you but actually want to see your class weakened. Tanks jealous of other classes specced for tanking( that’d be you on scrapper), healers of those specced for healing.
Don’t talk to me about balance! That never happen in this game, it’s always emotional spoon feeding from “devs” who try to up the sales by bending over at every request of their whining community
You contradict yourself. If they bend at every request of “their whining community” they WOULD have addressed conditions. You can’t have it both ways and condemn them for listening to the community only to say they won’t do it when people complain about it.
But this would affect druidic clarity and celestial shadow as well.
Well yeah, that’s the whole point.
One word, frustration. It’s absolutely falls on the shoulders of the development/pvp team. New players have no business playing with seasoned players. It creates a terrible experience for both groups. People yelling and getting yelled at, because A-net cannot sort out their own issues. This is the biggest travesty that can be done to a customer base. By their actions, it is an atmosphere the want to promote. Please don’t come in and say they’re fixing it for next season. The boat has sailed on this long ago.
How many years has the game been out and there still isn’t a proper pvp tutorial?
You shouldn’t be surprised that a game comprised primarily of pve developers are terrible at pvp. As if the balance changes weren’t proof enough.
I don’t need to speculate whether or not it works, it does. I’ve played it as have others. Feel free to step into 001. The same people who play it there play it in ranked as well.
Chilling darkness along with Deathly Chill. There are several competent necros that play the build or its variant.
