This counts as a forfeit and not a loss, though it is lumped together with defeats for the statistics UI.
Thanks for posting Even Lesh.
If someone DCing meant you lost no pips, it would be abused and people would just DC if they are not winning to save their pip count.
What I want is if someone has a dc before the game starts, that it wont be considered a loss/defeat in any way in any gamemode. Including statistics.
That cannot be abused, because the game has not even started yet.
You can maybe make it so that if someone has a dc once the game has started and you are behind in points, that it is still considered a loss (because otherwise it can be abused),
but that if you are ahead in points and someone has a dc, that its not considered a loss. The second is not likely to be abused right?
It can be abused. You see a full premade and you’re like, sorry not losing today and disconnect during prep.
You could make the teammate appear later once the gate has opened. Or you could make it only count before the teamname is shown.
I look at my team and I see someone that annoys me and is guaranteed to cost me a win…disconnect. It’s easily abused.
People have been able to do well with core builds. Unless you’re competing at the highest level of team play you will be ok. Until then, don’t be a dip and blame it on the expansion.
nope. Not even true. You can realize OP level difference at even community level of dueling arena.
Rofl…what do you mean nope not true? I, as well as others, have had no problem doing it. Sorry if you can’t make it work.
Evan, the last night of League play, I saw lots of people swapping classes during the 90 seconds wait period before the match started, and I was playing in the Legendary division against many of the top players. And I did see a surprising number of people who queued as thief or warrior and then switched to something meta.
I fully expect higher-skilled players to swap more, but that is a much smaller portion of the player-base.
An important question i: Would all high-skilled players be OK with profession locking if we could ensure no stacking?
I think if you had the ability to define your role on a team then you wouldn’t need to swap. Balance team compositions around roles and you can lock out profession swapping and stacking.
This counts as a forfeit and not a loss, though it is lumped together with defeats for the statistics UI.

It’s not just related to taunt. It’s the same immobilize bug that has been plaguing this game since inception.
That feature should have never been allowed in pvp.
Ventari/Jalis bunker revenant…be prepared.
Not a chance…
Shhh…relax, let it happen.
Ventari/Jalis bunker revenant…be prepared.
Grouch, stop posting on alternate accounts.
I have one question. Who test this patche before release ?
Revenant with full berserker gear and full DPS build vs Thief with same armor/traits.
Thief
Dagger AA DPS – 6k!!!!!
Sword AA DPS – 4.6k
Staff AA DPS 4.7kRevenant
Sword AA DPS 3.2k !!!
Ele Scepter AA DPS: 800
Ele burst rotation 1.6k
I get that the change has left Elementalists in a wierd place, but please don’t pretend it was not needed. Condition builds were completely, utterly, and absolutely destroyed by the mere existence of an Elementalist and this kind of change was long overdue.
Please put things in perspective. Condition builds were far more broken than DS. I’m not a proponent of the previous version of DS, but let’s not lose sight of how absurd condition builds are. An adjustment to DS to allow for non-damaging conditions to land would have adjusted it appropriately.
One name to blame for this…Grouch!!!!!!
Clearly all Grouch’s fault. As per usual.
Obviously, I blame Grouch.
I am not sure what I am looking at. Is it not normal to win 50% of your games if you reached the MMR level you belong to? Soloq is basically a coin toss unless you’re vastly underrated, so the pattern your match history exhibits does not surprise me.
If you read my post you would see that I’m pointing out all the matches were blowouts. The outcome was pre determined by match making. Sure it gave me a 50% win rate but what I did or didn’t do meant very little. The system gave me 4 sure wins and the 3 sure losses. This is in diamond, shouldn’t the system have enough info to make good matches by the time players reach diamond?
So, if you’re saying that what you did or didn’t do had little to no impact on the match then all 5 of you could have stayed in spawn and still won.
Anet fanboys can spit all the b/s they want in the defense of buying HoT update, but not when it comes to sPvP.
Because Anet guaranteed that in sPvP everyone is going to play on even terms and they destroyed their credbility by adding these pay2win specs in HoT and restricting players without update from using them.
There are several professions you can use to compete with. It’s only at the 5 v 5 premade level when it will really matter. I’m not sure why so many are getting their panties in a bunch, if you’re good enough you’ll have no problem playing core builds.
Please stop…
Interesting and insightful contribution to this forum. Keep up the great work! +1
I can say the same thing for what you have posted non-stop. You think MMR is frozen. You have been told repeatedly it isn’t, but “something isn’t right arrgghhghgghgh” Come off it mate.
Noticed it more on Mesmer when you dodge in to a shatter.
Then tried changing classes and noticed, that my ranger is having Super Easy matches, unlike my revenant, who always had weak team and ultra strong enemies.
Ok, this is weird. I played my Ranger last night for the first time in months just for kicks and won 6/7. On my Engi, Necro, Mesmer I have a maybe a 1/10 win rate.
I think we’re getting trolled by some intern at Anet.
Please stop…
I’ve just given up on winning matches at this point. I haven’t won a single match in a week, nor been in any position to win one. I just line up to get my three participation trophies and then I’m done for the night. Fun.
Very many people are in the exact same situation. And the exact opposite too. One of my friends can’t stop winning haha. I hate him now -__-
If you group with him what do you think is going to happen?
alright after 10 hours of being in tier 4 in ruby i fianlly broke into dimond lastnight at 12am PST. so i really hope they reevaluate solo que and adjust pips. 10 hours is insane to go up 2 tiers
Why is it insane? Not everyone deserves to be ranked highly. This whole mindset blows me away. The only reason more than half of the players are even in legendary is because they were able to cheese the system. This everyone deserves a medal mentality is getting out of hand.
I am not the best player in the world, just average. However, I noticed I am always being set to the weakest side over and over.
They changed the way match making works with the patch on the 15th and they refuse to explain what they did. Many people are experiencing the same thing you are or the exact opposite – winning many more matches than usual.
They did explain what they did. As a matter of fact, it’s in a thread you started.
Imo Evan, there are still huge outlying factors that snowballs the game, causing either a high pip loss for either team.
One being Build Wars 2 and good comp vs a bad comp. A perfecy example is a team of guardians and necros vs a team of eles and revs… ele and revs will win 100% of the time thanks to bunker ele’s snowballing the man.
Your best mmr algorithm doesn’t count in comp diversity & build diversity. Mmr RNG will always make one sided matches like I described.
Comp diversity and build diversity is the players responsibility. If you think your comp is weak, switch professions during the ready up time.
I finally won 2 matches. It is a miracle! I hope I can go to normal (55% win ratio) again.
The enemy team was clearly weaker than my team in those 2 matches.Been playing since about 9 this morning, won 2 matches at the start, lost everything else. Safe to say, I’m staying well away from PvP league next time. Next time someone comes up with a great idea, I hope they float it with the community first.
What do you think should happen in a competitive environment?
The changes for season 2 will make this less of a problem. Each team will have a tight MMR grouping such that each teammate should be very similar in skill to you. This is different from season 1 and unranked where we balance players on each team, i.e, high MMR and both sides and low MMR on both sides.
The goal is to ensure than if the higher skilled team wins, all the higher MMR players go up the ladder. Less unlucky high MMR players will drop on the ladder, and fewer low MMR players will get carried up the ladder.
So if you’re unlucky and got matched with a low MMR team, you will keep losing and have no way to recover?
You wouldn’t be matched with a low MMR team unless you also have low MMR.
But what about the opposing team? If the system’s going to choose team mates as skilled as us, then what about the enemy players? What if we get paired up against enemy players with a much higher MMR?
Then that would mean either you climbed to high in divisions and you need to drop some, or the other team isn’t high enough yet and they are climbing out.
But loosing or even dropping divisions is not fun. People want to see progress because the permanent pvp progression system (rank 1-80 was made laughable short) is no longer of interest.
Everyone doesn’t deserve a trophy. Not everyone is good at this game.
kittenposting too stronk
And again you with your bashing…
Make everyone pvp flagged and have an entire free for all while in HoTM while queued for ranked/unranked.
Play bunker mes while you can and also druid if you want to be the 1 v 1 hero your team needs.

And again me, stating the obvious. I have no idea who you are, but my statement is true.
Ah lets just sit back and watch the fire burn! Popcorn anyone? Anyone? No?
You can’t ask a question and answer it in the same post without an edit. How would anyone have seen the question for you to answer? Hmmmm?

Play enough games and you’ll be legendary. Everyone gets a trophy this season.
I know how it feels. I have now had 6 losses in ranked in a row = my longest loss streak in ranked. 2 out of those games were 4 vs 5 enemies.
I have background in game programming and I know it is not difficult to program the game so that it does NOT start at all if one side has less than 5 players. Unfair games and losing pips because of that, is highly aggravating and will continue to dwindle the player base.
I believe A-Net is hiring.
People shouldn’t queue ranked with friends significantly worse than they are, that’s what unranked is for. And that has nothing to do with divisions, but taking your pve player friend and going into unranked is just asking for trouble (for your teammates as well).
Not really anything Anet can do to stop idiots from queuing, unless you can also drop divisions. Overall I’ve had better experience with the new system, but I admit it has flaws as well.
Who is this for? Playing with your friends is what you are suppose to do. Why not just ban bad players from queing as well? Lets just ban all non HOT players/ meta players / Pro level players as well.
Hey everybody play unranked because this guy says if your not of the same skill level of the players around you, you shouldnt be there.
If you’re not of the same skill level, they shouldn’t be there. That’s the purpose of divisions and MMR. It’s not fun playing with someone who isn’t at your level, from both perspectives.
i’d like to see a new thief elite that has one simple function,
it simply provides a decent duration stealth on a shortish cooldown.i mean, its the sneaky class after all, we shouldn’t be forced to either run a pistol or sacrifice the majority of our utility bar for moderate stealth.
make it so Anet!
The game doesn’t need more stealth.
I do understand you can do both but I was curious what people thought about playing several classes vs. maining and playing one all of the time…whether its more beneficial to get really really good at one class or get decent-good at several
There’s nothing stopping you from getting really good at all professions. I think there’s a huge benefit to being able to play every profession and every type of build the profession has to offer.
To be more clear. Yes this current bunker meta isn’t very good. Yes the dev team needs to make some corrections to bring it into balance. The problem is that instead of getting shaves and corrections we’re getting wholesale hacks and knee jerk reactions. And if the past is any indication they will release their huge balance patch with limited or no testing (at least not by the playerbase). And then we’ll be stuck with a new but equally broken meta for the next 4 months. It won’t be a bunker meta, but it will be no less broken. A broken meta is one where a few classes/builds dominate and win all matchups, making many classes completely unviable.
The solution is more visibility into proposed changes, not just in terms of documentation, but also a Test Server. And a small correction patch (or two) a few weeks after the huge patch, and before the next season starts.
You sir/madam are asking for far too much. One cannot expect in this day and age, 1993, to have a test server to test proposed changes. Maybe some time in the future, perhaps around the year y2k will there be enough technology to allow for such a request.
Mercenary’s Amulet
1050 Power
1050 Condition
560 Toughness
560 VitalityPls.
Valid concern – it’s the amulet that I’ll be watching the closest. We’re going to give it a shot and if things don’t work out we won’t hesitate to remove it.
Why not address normalizing health pools first?
It took Blizzard 10+ years to realize that to start balance you need to normalize health pools. Why are we having these discussions on removing amulets without first addressing the glaring issue of disparities in base hp’s?
It’s funny but it is the concept of a chronomancer. It isn’t fair but if you put a single condition the concept will break.
No it won’t.
I’m gonna propose something crazy here:
Don’t touch warriors or thieves. At all.
Instead, nerf everything else down to their level :P
sips his tea
Once things are adjusted, you’re going to see how strong thieves will be. The constant dodging, condition cleanse on evade, and increase in damage on AA. The only thing stopping s/p or s/d is the damage output.
Im literally ashamed to show the pvp in this game to my friends.
Don’t be so dramatic, because you and I both know that statement is false. Ashamed to show someone the game? Really? Priorities sir…priorities.
This is a fair question, but you also have take into consideration the strength of the elites. I believe mesmers have very strong elites and CS is an on demand way of resetting some very strong elites. If you look at the way improvisation is implemented, because of the elite strength and randomness of the reset I don’t think that it is very too strong.
ITT: People who are salty because rangers actually have burst now.
zerker rangers having burst is OK, bunker ranger having burst is NOT OK

@ Pyriall
Luckily you posted here, on reddit you would be getting down-voted to oblivion by now.
Scare me more…
Was queued into scenarios similar to this during the week and weekend. Playing against legendaries and having ambers on our team.
I didn’t think ANOTHER screen shot was necessary to tell people how crappy the match making was.
The matchmaking system in Season 1 uses a blend of both your current division placement in Leagues as well as your individual matchmaking rating (MMR). This means that you’ll generally get paired with and against players in your division that are of similar skill levels. Unfortunately, what this also means is that from day one you’re going to have difficult matches, and because of the way MMR works in Ranked play, you’ll have a very difficult time maintaining enough of a win-streak to progress through tiers and divisions. This is especially true as you climb into divisions such as Ruby where you can lose points as well as tiers. While this system helps ensure that your matches are always as competitive as possible, it does mean that it’s also more difficult to get to the division where you actually belong based on your skill – for example, as a top tier player, the difficulty of your matches in Amber would actually be fairly close to what you’d experience in Ruby and beyond. After analyzing your feedback, we’ve decided to shift toward having your division standing in PvP Leagues be even more reflective of your personal skill level than it currently is.
Beginning with Season 2, matchmaking for Ranked matches will use your placement in your current league division as your primary matchmaking consideration and pair you against players who are placed in the same point range as you, regardless of the skill level (MMR) of the other people in that point range. While we’ll be using divisions to match you against your immediate opponents, we’ll still use your MMR to place you on teams with similarly skilled players (from your division point range) to help ensure that you’re not forced to play with individuals that are of a much higher or lower skill than you. Ultimately, this means that the new matchmaking changes will make PvP Leagues much more reflective of your actual skill, and each division will be progressively more difficult to compete in.pyriall you should be the one who needs reading coz none of this address whats happening right now. specially in my SS 3 man premade with legendary and 2 ruby pugs VS all pugs with amber, saphire, emerald.
“matchmaking for Ranked matches will use your placement in your current league division as your primary matchmaking consideration and pair you against players who are placed in the same point range as you”
You don’t know, because you don’t know the MMR of the players involved.
Yes they did
Link? Are you talking about patch tomorrow to address long running concerns. Match making has been a problem since League’s started, that they are only now addressing.
However today, has seen some extraordinarily bad match ups, which is new.
There’s a bloody sticky on it.
