They made them worse. If the idea was to build a burn build around spirit weapons, the previous functionality worked better. GG on making something worse that was already bad.
When they fix all the bugs, the Sword of Justice might become viable on condi builds.
It was already as viable as it could be on a condi-build previously. It’s worse now, at least for pvp (which wasn’t much to begin with, but it was fun/funny).

I’ll just leave this here:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Matchmaking_Algorithm
Evan, I’m going to leave this right here…WHY DO YOU CONTINUE TO ALLOW DOUBLE DUO QUEUE VS ALL SOLO? Fix that bull crap already. Just finished a match with double duo queue with one duo being two top twenty players and people on my team still doing placements matches. What is wrong with you people and your crappy system?
To be clear, I’m not defending condi-thieves, but those examples of golem damage are dumb. You can do far more with a burst build in the same amount of time.
This is the only game that I have ever played where you don’t want to open the rewards (in pvp). I just delete all of the garbage boxes inside of boxes inside of bags inside of pouches for a green item that’s worth 2 copper.
I’d prefer anet focused on issues that affect the majority of players. It has been the emphasis on ESL that has contributed to many of the challenges we have now.
Balance is a major example.
No it hasn’t and stop the spreading of nonsense. “Emphasis on ESL”…WHAT? Please tell me what they have done in the name of ESL.
Or…they could have simply allowed you to disable the end of match scoreboard from popping up.
It’s in options, right next to the ‘disable scoreboard’ at the end of matches.
What’s the starting range for those in placement matches?
Here are some peaches:
1. What’s this map?
2. New to “X profession”, don’t expect much.
When you’re already listening for ability/utility sounds (toss elixir S, black powder, etc) this becomes far too noisy to be able to play around. There wasn’t a single instance I can think of where this helps game play.
(edited by Pyriall.1683)
Another prime example of a lack in resources. They don’t have the budget to fix these kind of things. It’s sad.
Hard to take OP seriously when they complain a A LOT about teefs, berserkers and mesmers (33% of all the classes). Sounds like they are salty and looking to vent on the forums (which isnt a bad thing).
Kinda interested on knowing what class they typically play, however beign the nice Canadian I am..
OP: If you want practice fighting vs thieves/DD’s, if you are on NA I am offering to be your sparring partner. As I mentioned, just sounds like that well known PvP toxic salt that PvP instills on some so I am offering my assistance. Hit me up in game if interested, id be more than happy to help…maybe I can even help you adapt to fighting them like a good player does.

I have over 20k games played and over 2k plus on each profession (3k on thief). I have 52 characters on my one account with various builds. I’ve tested hundreds if not thousands of builds out. Please, it’s quite obvious when things aren’t healthy for the game and it’s painstakingly when people want to protect their profession instead of advancing the game.
You can state any fact that makes your kitten hard, doesnt change any fact that other players have stated. The fact you felt the need to state what you did, how you did, means little to nothing to me and shows me that you have no more valid points to make toward this discussion.
You don’t know any other player, nor do you know whether or not people have more experience than you. Just because you have “2k on all professions and 3k on teef” doesn’t necessarily mean you are any good at them. There are better ways of having a discussion without bringing that pompous toxic pvp attitude into it.
For someone that “knows it all and played it all”, you would think you wouldn’t be as salty and be more willing to l2p vs thief.
Also..despite how “pro” you want to make yourself out as, there’s always room for improvement. My offer still stands if you want to l2p vs thief. I am not pro, but I am not bad either.
Wow, someone got all in their feelings. Stating an opinion doesn’t make it a fact. People have expressed opinions all through this thread.
Please note, you were the one who asked what I played.
Again, whatever makes your kitten hard mate. Looks like were going to have to agree to disagree. Cheers

I’m watching your gameplay. To put it kindly, you’re not very good. If we’re going to review level of play, you’re in no position to speak on the subject matter. That’s the direction you wanted to take this post. Again, you got all up in your feels for nothing.
I’m in game now, feel free to join me.
HAHAHA . Its cute you are still pushing…sad but cute. Clearly this is getting nowhere and you seem to want to prove something for your soft kitten so i iz out…Again, gl on your ventures.
I wasn’t trying to prove anything. You were the one who wanted to try to make things personal. You want to practice dueling. I’ll practice with you.
Welp, im always up for a new dueling partner. I’m not home atm, nor wilI be for another 7ish hours. If you are serious about dueling for practice (as opposed to trying to make yourself look big) then im game. ill hit ya up next time you are on. Someone as experienced at every class as yourself should be more than happy to teach someone to better their class.
I added you. Pyrial.2917

No, Dash doesn’t need a nerf.
/end discussion
Yes, Dash needs a nerf. Discussion reopened.
Reveal is a poor example to prove your point. Reveal should be in the game, it isn’t spammable and should require timing. Which abilities/traits should have it; that’s another discussion. I don’t believe it should be on Spear of Justice, that ability already does too much. Another prime example of over bloat/budget.
It’s also not my job to comment on EVERY single issue. You have just as much ability to bring up the topic as anyone else. If you would have, I more than likely would have commented to the same affect as I did in this.
The whole point is that your nerf suggestion only would make sense if other issues get addressed as well. The danger in you only addressing one issue, is it getting fixed, yet the other issues remain -> a class becomes unplayable.
There are plenty of people who actually take their time to point out an issue in this game IN COMPARISON with all the other issues. Rather than ranting on about one issue (that isn’t even as big as all the others).
And now I rest my case. Feel like I’ve been talking to a wall. Cheers.
Do you care to point out the issue that would be created by the suggestion?
Also, there is not a single post on these message boards that addresses, or attempts to address, all issues related with balance when they make a suggestion on a trait/utility. Your suggestion is absurd.
(edited by Pyriall.1683)
Honestly I probably wouldn’t have a problem giving thief a bit more stealth.
When stealthed they don’t cap points.
They can run away already so I don’t care if they do it while stealthed or while being visible
Stealth is also predictable to a certain degree because if you know the class you also got a general idea of when the stealth attack will approximately hit.
Giving thief more access to stealth makes revealed a much more skillful to use counter which, let’s be honest, at the moment it really isn’t.Giving more stealth won’t make it more viable otherwise trap thief would be a thing…. the whole reason why SA is not a thing anymore is because reveal and aoe was handled like candy to every class (dh traps, mes wells, engi hammer, druid avatar just to name few, ranger/dh/necro/engi/rev/war have access to reveal, some of them are meta – it is just crazyyyyy). If those were reduced and reveal on demand mechanics were changed/removed from some spells (e.g. target doesn’t get revealed but just gets a marked while remaining stealthed so they could still profit from stealth traits like SE) then stealth would be more a viable option. Reveals/aoe vs stealth as they are atm are just 100% hardcounter, there is nothing in between so no amount of stealth would help.
This guy just throws words together in hopes of it making a point. You can’t even read through the sheer bias of his posts without rolling your eyes.
Even tho he (mains?) thief (biased) and I don’t (mesmer – not biased) I agree with him.
Thief is fine. Dash being able to break out of soft cc is exactly the point of running a thief. You want to be quickly in and out fights, from one point to another.Take that away and you’ll take the role thief has away. Simple as that. If a thief doesn’t have an escape, he’s a sitting duck.
So by that logic, thieves that don’t use dash shouldn’t exist. Guess what? They do. So stop with the, “you’ll take the role thief has away” nonsense. They would still have the best mobility in the game and multiple ways to address immobilizes.
My perspective is not limited to a small amount of games on some professions.
Are you suggesting mine is? To be clear, neither is mine. Played since release, with a well balanced amount of games spread over the classes. With most of them on mesmer, obviously, otherwise it wouldn’t be my main.
That being said, name me one other meta build without dash that got used by thief since the release of HoT. (and nope, staff thief wasn’t meta)
The only thing that could make your arguments valid, is that when daredevil gets a nerf like that, everything else recieves a nerf as well. ONLY THEN a thief has enough mobility. Because back before HoT, you didn’t have all the power creep and aoe spam.
Back then thief had enough mobility compared to all the other classes. If you’d try that right now, there we are again, a sitting duck. If you struggle against a thief BECAUSE HE CAN CLEANSE IMMOB WITH DASH -> l2p. Please.
Your myopic view on how the game should be played is what stagnates it. The ability is not healthy for the game as a whole. Neither are abilities I would define as being over budget or bloated.
The fact that a single trait can render whole builds useless is a problem. ANY ability that completely negates builds should be looked at in depth and adjustments should be made.
And yet here we have reveal on multiple spells that delete entire traitline and class mechanics and i don’t see you on the fences asking for revealed nerfs.
And which exactly build does dash render useless?
Hold on….because many things in this game are broken we aren’t allowed to ask for a start somewhere?
All i saw so far is “nerf teef plox cuz he runs away”, i have yet to see any suggestion from you regarding other classes that would make dash nerf reasonable.
There are quite a few builds, but you don’t hear from them because they cannot be played.

Was that on the table?
OP wants traitline about mobility not have anything to do with mobility.
OP wants an icd on an ability that is another, among many, overly bloated abilities for thief. Spamming dodges to break immobilizes when thieves multiple means to do so is unhealthy for balanced gameplay.
OP doesn’t realize the last 2 balance patches have seen nerfs to Thieves Evades and Endurance regeneration.
It’s funny the complaints are coming from someone that plays a class with on demand access to Resistance Spam which negates all movement impairing effects.
What’s funny is I play every single profession in this game, more than most of you. When classes that have a minimal way of gaining distance from a thief and he just random kittenollolol dodges out of it, you’ll begin to recognize the broken nature of dash. I can be objective in my criticism of abilities.
Also, I don’t know where you’re getting that I play something with on demand resistance spam as my profession.
Oh no, how dare a class that can’t hold point nor tank/support team to save their lives be good at moving around the map! Blasphemy!
having a small icd on immobilize break on dodge wouldnt affect how fast you can move around the map. it just affects how easily you can reset a fight.
There is already a CD on how many Immobs that can be cleansed, this is called endurance regen…….. and since the last couple patches Thieves have had their endurance regen nerfed significantly. Just saying,
This is laughable.
It is laughable the excuses you ty to come up with when Anet has already been indirectly nerfing UC through nerfing Thief Endurance regen. Again I’m so sorry I can’t play the game for you and make it easier for you.
What excuses? I’ve given a reason and all you have done is provide the excuses. Thieves have multiple means to cleanse immobilizes, something as spammable as should not remain as overly bloated at trait as it is; however if it is to remain as such place an icd on the immobilize portion of it.
It amazes me that there are people who are so focused on keeping in traits/abilities that are not healthy for the game only so they can feed their egos playing those very builds that are destructive to the game as a whole.
I have an advice for you. Go play core thief without drd. Try it. You will see the issue with cripple.
If this the standard you are using to validate your point, then sir you have failed. I do/have played core thief and it is still better than those builds who do not have a large number of ways to deal with immobilizes.
Was that on the table?

It looks like reliance on passive skills is taking a reduction as well as skill activation in a linear fashion; players may actually have to consider strategy and effective timing. Players won’t be able to rely(as much) on an OP class skill/trait set to carry them past their fluttery button mashes. Oh god, what have you done Anet!
Yeah, meanwhile condi passive gameplay has skyrocketed and thieves spamming 1 can actually down power based classes now. kitten balance.
Poison, poison, poison, dash, dash, dash, headshot….
Psssttt ^ this guy doesn’t want his broken thief builds touched.

To place an icd on Dash removing immobilize. Someone didn’t read their assignments to get it in this patch.
Is this trait working? I’m not getting the added benefit on short bow skills.
NVM, you have to dodge first.
Glint: Every 10 seconds you convert 1 condition into a boon.
That would be a nice start against Revs condi weakness.
You need to build around condition weakness. A single build, of any kind, shouldn’t be the all in one build you want rev to be. This thought that the best build should have all strengths and no weaknesses is what put this game into its current state.
Look at all of the meta builds, they’re disgusting.
@Pirrial : I agree with you. But do you have ideas about it ? I personnally feel the same, there are stuff to do, but I still don’t know what and I still struggle with it. I don’t exppect from a bunker to do loads of damage, and I think Jalis can support a lot. Your survivability is based on launching the right skills at the right moments. I also thought of a condi based build to get crits from VH and proc torment. But managing energy is a difficult issue with the elite skill. So conditions are a problem.
.
I don’t use Jalis as a bunker. Builds I have with Jalis:
Jalis/Glint-Power build
Jalis/Ventari-Support
Jalis/Mallyx-Tanky build, it’s not going to bunker
Jalis/Mallyx-Condition build
you want build which was tested with jalis so here it is
support role
pros :
good with healing and dmg reductions , 33% protection 50% from rotgd, 20% vh
cons:
conditions dmg but with good awareness and skills rotations you can handle most builds
2 sigils which remove conditions, healing skill which remove 3, elite with reduce dmg by 50% and vh another 20%, rune which reduce duration by 25% and start with more hp.

Stop thinking in terms of bunker and think in terms of support. Your job would be to support your team with damage reduction, heals, cleanses, and cc. With all of that, the combination of Jalis and Ventari is the better duo imo.
Unfortunately, Jalis doesn’t bring a lot to the table outside of theory crafting…
In actual play, RotGD doesn’t help you survive at all.
Inspiring Reinforcement is really only useful for securing stomps, but as a rev you should just be cleaving 99% of the time anyway, since it’s just about the only thing we do better than all of the other classes.
Chain taunt is good, but expensive, so you can’t punish someone while they’re taunted, nor will you have the energy to taunt after a burst—unless you like burst and then swap to Jalis just to taunt. (But by having Jalis in the first place you’ve already sacrificed a big portion of your burst potential.)
And Vengeful Hammer’s damage is still a joke + anyone with reflect will laugh while you kill yourself with it.But probably the biggest problem with Jalis is lack of a real stunbreak (RotGD’s energy cost is unrealistic to count on.) And since you’re using Jalis, you’re probably using Ret instead of Invo, so you miss out on legend swap stunbreaking too.
Jalis just doesn’t have a great place in PvP… It doesn’t put out enough damage to kill anyone competent and doesn’t provide enough defense to let you hold a point by yourself. And you’re sacrificing all of your mobility by taking it.
There is so much wrong with this post, but one more than the rest. If Vengeful hammer is still a joke, how are you killing yourself? Also, how is an unblockable ability being reflected?
Once I subbed Jalis for Shiro, there was no need to go back. Some additional minor tweaks to Jalis should still definitely be looked at, but there is a lot to work with even in a power/condi/or support build with Jalis.
Jalis doesn’t have a stunbreak and the stability skill is too clunky to use.
Jalis does have a stunbreak.
Should have said, better than Mallyx/Ventari. Can’t edit atm.
Jalis/Ventari is better than Mallyx/Glint imo.
Jalis/Ventari are better than Ventari/Glint imo.
At least it develops something. We know it doesn’t develop pvp…
It’s bad enough having to deal with acro/staff dd. Fix debilitating arc to where you get the benefits of the evade/cripple by jump casting.
Yes, there are a few builds that I play. I have a tanky setup (Mallyx/Jalis), Healer setup Ventari/Jalis, and condi (Mallyx/Jalis) There’s such a low level of skill currently that you can play anything.
I can only remember one tournament at the beguinning of HoT (or just before?) in which Mallyx/condi build was used, in the times in which 2 class stacking was allowed, destroying enemies with a double axe #4. Since then not a single build outside power Shiro + Glint was used in any big PvP tourmanent and the only variation was to either use retribution or invocation; ANet saved us from such terrible trouble of being able to chose effectively destroying the retribution trait line in the patch of October 2016.
So… No, Jalis isn’t even remotely near to be “viable” in PvP. Of course, a bad build used by a better player can outplay a good build used by a worse player, but becomes increasingly hard to run the more skilled players you fight.
Unless you are playing at ESL levels, you can play virtually anything. Since most are not, I don’t see an issue. Jalis and Mallyx fills in the areas of weakness of revenant and adds a bit of team utility.

Also, running glint is obsolete. Any decent player doesn’t hit you when using the heal anymore and most are smart enough to condi-bomb you immediately after swapping from it.

Everyone already knows to target necros, but you call the target that messed up. Called targets all over the place means no one pays attention to them.
You attack the target period. I generally call targets in the matches for my team. I pay attention to health and cd’s, so I’ll swap depending on what is being used and the health of our team and the opposing team.
On a scale of 1-10, how does everyone rate their own personal skills in the game?
11
1.1, that’s at least an honest assessment.

I’ve invited you, several times, to come into hotjoin to practice. You ignore the messages. The state of the population right now is lacking talent. You can play virtually any build and win. It isn’t the build, it isn’t Anet, and it isn’t JUST your teammates. It is a problem between the chair and the keyboard.
I suggest some change to these 2 maps.
Forest of Niflhel: Change the beasts to go into downed state like lords do and use downed skills to try and prevent their death. They could also rally.
The reason for that is to reduce beast stealing as some classes are better at that than others.Battle of Kyhlo: Change the trebuchets to work in a similar fashion to how Skyhammer works. Just that they would be limited to the middle control point alone and will not affect the other points. So, at certain intervals during the match both trebs will unlock and you’d need to capture them, upon capture they will fire a big volley at the clock tower that will cover the entire area and not just the point, the impact will neutralize the point.
Alternative Battle of Kyhlo: Keep trebs as they are but with one change. Make each impact of the Treb alter the control point by 25% control for the team shooting the treb.
NPC kill stealing is part of the strategy on the map. It’s ridiculous to dumb this game down any further.
I’ll just leave this here…
That damage isn’t anything other classes cannot do. The problem is the sustain/tankiness of warrior, regardless of the amulet, given some specific traits and utilities.
