Hi, I think I have a bug with the textures on the Falconer’s armor I just bought.
Unfortunately I did not try it on before transmuting but the in game texture is much lower quality than what you can see in the preview. I have max graphic settings and there is hardly any metallic effect on the metal pieces like he shoulder and neck in game while the preview looks completely different.
I’ve tried areas with different lighting and the textures are not even close to what you can see in preview or the hero tab. Attached are an in-game pic with the hero tab. the in game pic is a lower res texture and is less reflective. Is this because I transmuted it?
It’s the lighting. The preview window uses the character creation screen lighting. Which doesn’t seem to be utilized anywhere else in the game. Turning your shaders to “medium” will give metallic armor pieces more of a reflective surface.

there’s definitely a common root to all the problems posted here
You mean YOUR problems. Your problems aren’t shared by everyone. My armor was broken from the day I bought it. Which was well before the Jan. 28 patch.
So post your issue and get in line with the rest of us. You can’t expect the developers to know every single bug in their code the moment it happens.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
OK, just going to say it: I don’t really like how anet is handling this situation:
having every user experiencing issues post their problem and hopefully getting it fixed might seem ok but why not go back and see what the root of all these graphical abnormalities is in the first place instead of patching it up bit by bit? What if I’m too lazy to start posting in detail with screenshot and all that? what if I don’t even know this forum exists? Does that mean that many of these issues will go unfixed? not every has the time to come here and document their problem or problems seeing that there can be more than just one when ppl have multiple item sets…
The issue with many of these clipping bugs is simply poor armor/animation design.
In my case, the armor was likely designed on a static model, but not playtested. Hence why it appears fine until my character starts moving around.
In other cases, it’s mix/matching that causes the problem. Being able to mix and match pieces from different armor sets sometimes causes clipping issues that the developers didn’t foresee.
There is not often a single “root of all graphical abnormalities.” This is a case where you cure the disease by treating the symptoms, rather than the cause.

“Stand Your Ground” will remove fear, and the resulting stability will prevent you from being feared again for 5+ seconds. If you have runes of the soldier, “Stand Your Ground” will remove fear plus one additional condition.
I use it against the dragons to great effect.

It’s not “price manipulation” it’s price correction.
The simple fact is, precursers are VERY VERY RARE and there’s VERY VERY HIGH demand for them. That means the price is going to be very high for them. If there’s a highly limited amount of something, and someone is willing to pay more then you, why do you think you deserve one? If they were cheaper, they would all be bought up and you wouldn’t get one anyway.
The only person you have to blame is anet for making them so rare (and so RNG). Obviously, they like them rare – the more expensive they are the more people who buy gems to turn to gold to buy them so don’t expect it to change anytime soon.
It is price manipulation. Those 15 or so dusks for sale on the TP right now? I guarantee at least 8 of them are owned by a single person. The supply of precursors is so low, It’s very easy for someone with many thousands of gold to corner the market.

Sigil of blood apparently has a 5 sec internal cooldown (wiki says the tooltip is wrong), so I don’t see why a 2 sec cooldown on sigil of strength would put you off. Sigil of strength is one of the best damage boosting sigils in the game.
It does indeed stack with Empowering Might and I believe you will get AH triggering from it. That said stick with what you prefer, blood is still a great sigil and doesn’t break the bank like strength does. Personally I use one of each.
It really depends on the build. One stack of might with AH would heal the Guardian around 69-84 health (depending on healing power). You could maintain 5 stacks of might with enough luck. In 10 seconds, you can see 345-420 health from AH. Sigil of Blood has a longer cooldown, but it heals a minimum of 453 (scaling toward 1800 with a high healing power). In half of the time you will see more health in return. While 5 stacks of might (again, with luck) will add 175 power, Sigil of Blood deals a fixed 452 damage to the enemy which is not reduced by toughness. It all depends the situation and the equipment. I’d much rather press my luck with a 12% (40% crit chance over 30% sigil chance) to damage the enemy and heal myself than the same chance to raise my power by 35 for 10 seconds, but that’s because I use a split of Magi and Cleric armor.
The sigil of blood also only damages one enemy at a time.
I don’t stack healing power, and I did wind up switching to the sigil of strength. Between it, empowering might, and virtue of justice activation, I can maintain anywhere from 7-10 stacks of might against a group of enemies.
The sigil of blood still has merits, but I don’t think I need the extra healing from it.

Here’s another shot. This time in Queensdale.

This bug has not gone away completely in my experience. It happens much rarely than before, but it’s still here.
How does it look? Character performs dodge roll, loses endurance and evades enemy attack, however the character does not roll away, but stays on the same spot. The character performs rolling animation, however it doesn’t look like the old “rubber-banding.” (Tested with a warrior wielding dual axes.)
This might be a completely different issue though (like a terrain issue), but it’s tough for me to reproduce it on consistent basis since I don’t play as much as before. It has happened for me around a dozen times in few hours of play.
It’s your character getting stuck on the terrain. You’re still getting your evasion frames. This bug caused your attack to queue in the middle of your dodge, interrupting it, and causing you to not receive those evasion frames.
I frequently dodge into walls or other obstacles to evade large AoE attacks without moving too far from my target.

Dust, Silt, and Sky are the colors on the T3 pieces. Unfortunately, if your T3 armor is transmuted, those colors will not stick if you place them in that order. They will default to dye remover for some reason.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
You say it like stability is available at all times.
For some classes, it is. Also, thieves and mesmers can just teleport past your wards.
Yes, line/circle of warding is far too unreliable for warding, but is better for annoyance. The true ward skill is the sanctuary, which only stability will bypass.
I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say that you have your consecrations traited. So you get 12 seconds of sanctuary every 96 seconds. That’s not very impressive.
And let’s not forget, sanctuary won’t even register if you don’t move after casting it.

2 sec cooldown
This was the main deciding factor. I think I’ll be sticking with my sigil of blood.

If a warrior is required to dodge for maximum burst, while a ranger is not, the ranger is relatively better at bursting a mob with CC than a warrior is. It’s dumb to say “yeah but add ANOTHER 6 seconds for the dodges!!1!11” when the test is clearly looking to see how fast you burst down the giant.
That’s why this is a bad test mob. Its stomp does a knockdown, meaning it’s not just a matter of tanking damage. You have to dodge or use stability to avoid the knockdown.
Ranger has the luxury of not needing to dodge, warrior doesn’t.
Nope. The warrior could have used stability. He chose to dodge instead. The ranger could have dodged. He used stability instead. That makes it a poor comparison.
If you’re arguing against a burst test, and want a more realistic “in practical use test”… Well since rampage as one has a 120 sec cooldown for a 20 sec effect, 5/6th of time you don’t have it available. So a test that’s better representative of typical gameplay would be with the ranger dodging and the pet being disabled due to the knockdowns. Then you can compare times with the warrior dodging.
Or you can ask the warrior to redo his test using stability, and compare times to the ranger using RaO.
I agree with this.
Also, your name is familiar to me. Are you perhaps the same Solandri that once posted on the PWI forums?
I feel like warrior damage is a bit overtuned anyway. not only do they dish out high burst, they are capable of extremely high sustained DPS as well. A full berserker warrior dealing 4k critical hits with his hammer’s auto attack is something my guardian could never match.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
And then someone goes “lol stability,” and walks through all your precious wards as if they don’t even exist.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Currently, I’ve been using a sigil of blood in my hammer. I was considering exchanging it for a sigil of strength, but I need to know a few things first.
1. Does it have an internal cooldown?
2. Does it stack with Empowering Might?
3. Does it trigger Altruistic Healing?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I love the T3 cultural heavy armour, just got mine yesterday:
How do you put up with the massive clipping?
Or more importantly: How do you put up with looking like this in cutscenes?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Because one is (infused), and the other is not. If you have the infused version of a ring, you can wear it alongside the un-infused version of the same ring.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Race: Asura
Class: Guardian
Armor:
-Electromagnetic Helm
-Electromagnetic Epaulets
-Electromagnetic Plate
-Electromagnetic Gloves
-Electromagnetic Leggings
-Electromagnetic Boots
Weapons: Peacemaker’s hammer, Peacemakers shield, Diamond aegis
The electromagnetic epaulets clip into my character’s chest while in combat (attachment 1), while underwater (attachment 2), and while in cutscenes(attachment 4). Idle animations cause clipping as well, but it’s more difficult to see. The floating crystals also clip through shields(attachment 3), as well as through my character’s head while swimming(attachment 2). My character’s ears also clip through his helmet while in combat (attachment 3).
It really bothers me that an armor set that costs so much gold to acquire could be so unpolished as to only look good on a static model.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Warrior. Don’t go full dps. Can’t do good damage while you’re laying on your back.
Tell that to this guy.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
If you want to solo dungeons, warrior is better.
Otherwise, the answer is yes.
Quoted for great justice truth.
But mesmers get a point for being purple.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Simin’s difficulty comes in a couple flavors.
First issue is simply getting people to position correctly to get all the wisps to fall into the shields correctly.
Second issue is getting petrification removed quickly.
Third issue is the group having enough DPS to burn Simin down.
Someone getting agro of a spark while petrified means that Simin will heal up far far more than she should and can even be enough to just reset the fight.
Not removing petrification can make a dps light group lose enough dps that you never make progress.
The easiest method is to take simin to 50%, then only place 4 sparks, let her heal to full. Burn down to 50% and immediately place the last wisp and burn the other 50%.
If you can’t do that, then you will have to get all 5 wisps in. Which can be a hassle to say the least.
Simin isn’t difficult. It’s just that there’s very little room for inefficiency/mistakes.
It’s just funny. Whenever I hear people complain about arah path 4, it’s always about Simin. I assumed Simin was a boss similar to lupicus, only more difficult. Out of curiosity, I looked her up on youtube.
My response: “That was it?”
-BnooMaGoo.5690
What exactly makes Simin so difficult? Is it because she heals herself?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I try to keep bosses at zero stacks of defiant in order to interrupt them when necessary, but most players seem content with just spamming their CC skills for damage, rather than playing intelligently.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Well… at least you don’t need to buy a precursor too?
Always best to look on the bright side.
The sad truth is, Mjolnir is STILL more expensive than some legendaries, precursor included.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I’ve been trying to get some sceenshots and kept forgetting to do it. So many other things to do in the game! Anyways, here are 2 screens illustrating the different glow intensities between heavy and medium. I’m the one on the right. I realize that he is full T3 heavy and I’m only wearing gloves and boots, but evaluate it based on glow intensity not quantity of glowing objects. You can barely make out a faint glow on my glove gems while the gems on heavy are significantly brighter. ANet, can we change this so medium gems behave the same way? Glow intensity is a must, being able to change the color like the other 2 armors would be a plus.
I tend to hover between liking glowing armor, and despising it. It looks decent on some characters, and horrible on others.
Those of us with T3 heavy armor have to put up with some of the worst clipping I have ever seen in an armor set. I would be happier with T3 medium, and I don’t even like the way it looks.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
It’s more just the $$. I’ve gone with the Vigil and I like it.
I’ll check back every now and then in case anyone posts more though.
Like I said, I kind of regret spending all my gold on it. It looks nice on a static model, but the shoulders are so huge and unrealistic; as soon as your character moves it throws off the appeal of the set. I still love the helmet, though it doesn’t really fit with any other armor set.
Part of it may also be me missing my 119 gold. I didn’t really have anything else to spend it on, but 119g is a decent chunk of change.
I’ve been looking at other armor sets and mix/match combos, but nothing really seems to “fit.” I actually kind of regret not making a human or norn guardian. Humans and norn both get amazing looking heavy armor sets, and I’m quite fond of that “holy knight” look.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Sorry I almost forgot about this thread.
Thanks for the responses, particularly Twill, I hadn’t seen a good picture of the vigil armour. I think that might be what I go for!
I was kind of looking for tank/warrior-like “thick” armour.
So far the Vigil is my favourite
I know you said you didn’t like it, but it’s hard to get more tank-like than this:
(The shoulders clip pretty badly with just about everything. Shields in particular. I’m actually kind of regretting buying it.)
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Guns existed before WoW. Paladins existed before WoW. Guardians are not paladins.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Step one: Run CoE paths 2 and/or 3
Step two: Fight subject alpha
Step three: dodge 3-4 times
Daily dodge completed.
Honestly, it’s not difficult to get that “evade” to pop up. If you truly play at the level you claim, you should be skilled enough to “play recklessly” without hindering yourself. Go find a boss with a large telegraphed attack that you can dodge easily, then dodge it.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Asura T3 all the way.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I was going to make a new topic about this, but I’ll just put it here instead. The T3 heavy shoulders for asura clip with absolutely EVERYTHING. I kind of figured they would, given how absolutely huge they are, but it really takes away from the armor.
I mean, I still like the way my asura looks…until he moves. Regardless, that armor set me back 119g, there’s no way I’m going to replace it.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I posted these in the guardian forums as well, but I can’t resist showing off.
Aside from the horrible clipping issues, asuran T3 heavy armor doesn’t look too shabby.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I agree. I posted in the guardian screenshot thread about how most armor textures are squashed or misshapen – or downright missing – when when worn by asura.
I wound up getting T3 cultural armor for my asura guardian after exhaustively attempting to put together a look I was satisfied with. Despite not liking the armor initially, it’s beginning to grow on me…it’s also very shiny.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I was thinking about this – for about 10 seconds – and I had an idea. Add a “bounty board” with 15-20 listed objectives, which cycle every day. Players may choose any 5 of them as their daily achievement.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I’ve been trying to find a suitable look for my guardian ever since I hit level 80. I think I may have found it. I still want Mjolnir though.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
You’re all complaining about something you won’t even see unless you go looking for it. Gods forbid you ever visit this place: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tenanera%27s_Pit
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Honestly what I’d like to see is Altruistic Healing live up to the name. Make the heals 25% stronger – but only proc off of boons granted to others, not yourself. Right now its more like Ulterior Motive Healing than any sort of altruism.
This wouldn’t change a thing. It would make AH builds even more effective in dungeons and WvW, and people would still swap to monk’s focus and meditations for soloing.
My suggestion, move either AH or monk’s focus to a different trait line.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
They should change it to something like, “Mace damage is increased 5% Faithful Strike now hits up to three foes.”
That’d be pretty solid, of course, the AoE heal would only proc once.
Mace damage is already at the bottom of the barrel when compared to our other one handed options. I would like to see that 5% increased to 10%.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Guardians heal, it’s what we do.
Thieves turn invisible and steal stuff, it’s what they do.
Rangers shoot things and set traps etc, (they need a buff cause warrior range is better than theirs) it’s what they do.
I could keep this up for every class but you get the idea. Take away our healing and you take away our classes main mechanic.
We have some useless skills and useless traits that need to be changed to something viable so that we have more build options instead of Monk or AH. I don’t want a buff that gives me the ability to DPS like a warrior and heal HP like an ele traited for 30 water.
I just want balance at the end of the day for all classes so we can stop whining about stuff and get back to enjoying the game.
Guardians heal? Since when?
We heal ourselves, but even elementalists and warriors are better at healing allies.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
ok here is the video of me tanking the champion mob in orr
What exactly makes this video relevant to the discussion at hand?
It’s not even very impressive. Anyone, and I do mean anyone, can solo that particular champion without much trouble.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
So game is built on GW1 engine.
Who told you that? Why would anybody even think that?!
I like how you completely ignored the bulk of his rant and jumped right to this minor point.
I hate to break it to you, but he’s right (mostly).
Taken from the wiki: “Guild Wars 2 uses a heavily modified Guild Wars game engine which includes support for true 3D environments, more detailed environments and models, better lighting and shadows, new animation and effects systems, plus new audio and cinematics engines and a more flexible combat and skill-casting system.”
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I want to use my helmet underwater. Asuran T3 heavy armor just doesn’t look the same without the helm. Not to mention, it looks like it could double as a re-breather.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I think your math may be wrong. But even if it isn’t, you’re not taking into account things like synergy. Sure, those big numbers may seem impressive on paper -“look at the billions of different builds we can make!”- but only a very small number actually have skills that synergize well with each other. The entire bloated system of skills gets condensed down to a few dozen builds across all professions, which are considered “meta.” Stepping outside these meta builds is sometimes fun, but it comes at the cost of efficiency.
Also, have you every tried to balance a system with that many variables? Many skill balances had to be retconned or re-balanced, because of skill interactions that weren’t even noticed until after the fact. The developers stated it themselves, balancing such a massive amount of skills is a logistical nightmare.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
SW builds are so uncommon I doubt that many people will be effected.
Thats the funny part. It was so uncommon and it was hurt by the nerf bat. kitten a.net. Warriors can solo Arah path 2. how about making hundred blades deal a fixed 500 damage for the lulz? WTF!?!?!
With the fix to the reckless dodge bug, I doubt warriors can still solo lupicus. Once they pop all their stability/blocking/healing/invulnerability skills and get bubbled again, they lose.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Lets be honest here. The only spirit weapon that was ever worth using, even fully traited, was the shield.
Now it seems even the shield is completely useless. Have fun in your high level fractals people.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I suppose it’s my fault for not capitalizing on the black lion keys before they were removed, but I didn’t expect it to happen until lionguard Lyns was disabled. At that point I was pretty sure she would return with no more black lion keys.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
If another player had ripped me off by 30g, you’d bet that they would be reprimanded in some way by Arenanet- What hypocrisy!
If another player scammed you out of 30g, Anet would probably say something along the lines of: “we’re sorry, but your gold cannot be returned to you. Please use the in-game report system to report [player] for scamming.”
And then when you do report the other player, they might get a 72 hour slap on the wrist.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I don’t get it. what’s the problem with level 39 fractals?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
