Warrior: 1710 pow, 2189 pre, 65% crit, 2185 armor, 944 cond dam, 21662 hp,
0% crit dam
Ranger: 1710 pow, 2189 pre, 65% crit, 1980 armor, 644 cond dam, 18372 hp,
30% crit damreeeeeeeeeeaalyy?
You know, I didn’t notice this the first time through. Yeah, that lack of critical damage on the warrior really skews the results in the ranger’s favor.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I made this exact same thread yesterday. Guess where it is now. No really, guess.
I’ll give you a hint (it’s in here)
I’m not sure why the mods moved it. Maybe it was because of the way I worded the title, or maybe I’m about to say too much and earn myself an infraction.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Nerf? The fact that most on crit food items had no internal cooldown was clearly not intended. Look at on crit sigils and character traits. Do any of them not have an internal cooldown?
It wasn’t just your precious pies. Do you know how much might you could stack with ghost pepper poppers during the day? You could keep a group of enemies permanently chilled at night.

asuran
maleArmor:
-Electromagnetic Helm
-Electromagnetic Epaulets
-Electromagnetic Plate
-Electromagnetic Gloves
-Electromagnetic Leggings
-Electromagnetic Bootsafter the patch my ears clip thru the helmet now when ears are in the non combat position as well as the combat position
If more people bring this to light, they may just do something about it. I also notice the boots look slightly squashed and misshapen. They weren’t before, as far as I’m aware.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Please fix this (including the shoulder pieces you can’t hide and that clip through nearly everything)!
If you thought those little strips of fabric on your shoulders clip through everything, my old T3 heavy shoulders would blow your mind. Half of the pauldron would bury itself in my character’s chest every time he moved his arm. Thanks to anet’s “fix” my pauldrons are now made of rubber. They don’t clip anymore, but they still look silly.
And you think your oversized hat is bad? Try having a metal helm that behaves like it’s made out of silly putty.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Ranger torch and sword can both hit up to 3 targets (actually I think torch #5 can hit 5), just like warrior greatsword. And in my test at least, sword+torch ranger out-DPSed warrior greatsword. So ranger does better there as well.
How do you suppose a sword/torch ranger would fare with less condition damage? I know 644 isn’t a lot to begin with, but I’ve been toying with the idea of using a torch with a power build, mostly for the on demand fire field.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
So since Final Rest has finally been fixed found, I’m going to bump this thread and request that a mod move it back to the general discussion forum.
Wings of Dwayna deserves at least as much attention as final rest.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Well, if its dropping like crazy, there goes my rags to riches idea. Hope I get one for my mesmer.
I have a couple theories as to why.
*The drop rate was broken, and fixed in this patch.
*The drop rate was impossibly small, and increased exponentially with this patch.
Either way, I’m expecting a nerf to the drop rate within a few hours.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I quit playing my ranger the day I rolled a guardian. I feel much more useful, and am actually able to carry groups through some tough dungeon encounters.
I tried to go back to the ranger, I even tried out a new build. Bought new gear and everything. I still feel useless.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
There’s nothing I can say that will change any minds—but I did say that the staff had an extremely low drop rate, and we did just boost the odds of rare items appearing at the end of large events. Congrats to those who got one!
So with that mystery solved…where’s my Wings of Dwayna?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
The shoulders aren’t drastically smaller, only noticeably smaller. That said, I hate what they did to the helm. The shrunken rubber shoulders I can probably learn to live with.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
The T3 heavy armor has been changed as well. The shoulders have been shrunk. The shoulders and helm have also been “rubberized.” Honestly, I’m disappointed. The clipping was only really apparent in combat. This just looks terrible all the time.
Wow! The metal covers over the ears were great before, and now that they’re flexible and yet still metallic, they just look weird. I hope they switch it back to how it used to be, because I don’t like how this looks one bit.
That said, I’m happy with the smaller shoulders.
Honestly, I don’t know how I feel about the smaller shoulders. They make the armor look less bottom heavy with the helm hidden, so I suppose I could get used to them. But the flexing still looks odd. I notice it on a few other metallic shoulder pieces, but it’s quite extreme on these shoulders. Better than half the shoulder disappearing into my character’s chest every time he moves his arm I suppose. The helm is staying hidden until they fix those ear pieces though.
I wonder if anything would have been done if I didn’t bring these issues to light. I kind of feel responsible for this. And I was just beginning to come to terms with the clipping too.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I posted this in the asuran forum as well, and I’m glad that these armor issues are being looked at, but the way they’re being “fixed” is just silly. The stretchy rubber bits over the ears are just ridiculous looking.
Just a quick edit, since this was posted in frustration: I’d like to point out that I’m happy the shoulders don’t clip with everything, and don’t generally look ridiculous when my character moves his arms. What I’m not happy with is the redesigned helm. the bits over the ears look too rubbery and fluid.
Double edit: looking more closely at the armor, I kind of like the smaller shoulders. The stretching and bending is a bit odd, but tolerable. The helm is going to be difficult to get used to.

You know, I made a similar thread speculating on the whereabouts of Wings of Dwayna, but less than an hour after I posted, a mod moved it to “Players helping players.”
I don’t think it’s fair that final rest gets all the attention, while an equally obscure weapon gets ignored. Is it because no one likes longbows?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Legendary weapons don’t have better stats, they are just to show off that you spent 2k+ gold for a skin.
They only cost 2000g if you buy them off the AH, they can cost much less if you make them yourself. Although it also depends on the legendary your making, The Dreamer is one of the cheaper legendary weapons because it doesn’t require any lodestones.
Kudzu also requires no lodestones, and its precusror is quite a bit cheaper than The Lover. Though I would much rather have Wings of Dwayna. Although, I don’t suppose it’s possible to find a weapon that doesn’t exist.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Atm ESO is the game that will take me away from gw2 for good unless this is implimented.
And you’ll still be here, complaining about how much rangers suck.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
The champion is really easy. Just spam weakness and cripple, run around the colum if he won’t break aggro and you can’t get away. If 4 engies can do it NP, you better not be having issues.
Abominations are immune to cripple, but not chill. The key with any abomination is: don’t let it hit you. And don’t use pets, minions, or clones/phantasms. They like to give the abomination free stacks of frenzy.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
The funny thing is, the builds are balanced pretty well, they just don’t work when there are too many bleeding/poisoning/burning heros in the same place. That is literally the only problem.
That’s not the only problem. Conditions can’t affect destructible objects, or meta event bosses like the dragons/fire elemental/shadow behemoth etc. Condition builds are at an extreme disadvantage in this area.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I know this thread is likely to not garner the same attention as the thread about final rest, but Wings of Dwayna is another one of those weapons which people seem to know nothing about.
I’ve been searching for information on this weapon, but all I’ve managed to find is a few preview screenshots from the pvp locker, and one tengu NPC wielding this bow. The developers were quite happy to confirm the existence of final rest, so what about Wings of Dwayna? It’s so obscure, it doesn’t even have a wiki page.
If it’s an extremely rare drop like final rest, where do you think it might be found? Could it be an undiscovered mystic forge recipe? Is it just not obtainable in game?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Edit: Here’s a basic frame for a longbow ranger:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMAQBgAY9AgA7rLgpAAG/CA
I took this basic outline and ran with it. I dropped the last 10 points in beast mastery for quicker pet swapping. I’m liking it so far, but I have just a couple minor problems.
I feel a tiny bit squishy despite running knight’s armor and valkyrie trinkets. This is probably because I’m used to playing a guardian. I plan on trying life steal food as a solution.
I find myself using a lot of survival skills, and I really want to pick up wilderness knowledge. But in order to do that, I have to drop 5 points from somewhere else. If I take 5 points from beast mastery, I lose my faster pet swapping. If I take 5 points from skirmishing, I lose quick draw. If I take 5 points from marksmanship, I’ll have to choose between piercing arrows, and eagle eye. I’m not really sure what to sacrifice.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Way back when a ranger was my only character, I was pretty content with running a trap build. Stacking over 1100 condition damage, groups of trash mobs would melt under my traps/torch/shortbow. But after playing a guardian to 80 -and seeing what direct damage builds did in comparison- it quickly replaced my ranger as my main character. So recently I respecced my ranger from traps, to a power build focused on marksmanship and skirmishing, with a longbow and greatsword filling my weapon slots. Replaced all my condition damage gear, and now I’m pushing higher numbers than my guardian, and I like it.
I’m still a tad squishy, despite building knight’s armor with emerald orbs, and valkyrie trinkets, but I think a bit of lifesteal food would help me along nicely.
So even if anet does fix all the problems with condition damage, I feel like my ranger is in a good spot right now, and I don’t want to change that. It might convince me to finally roll a necromancer though.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I would equip my precursor if I could decide which legendary I wanted to aim for….and once I managed to scrape enough gold together to buy one.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I’m playing ranger in tournaments and trap ranger and BM bunker ranger are just too strong atm.
All of a bunker ranger’s damage comes from the pet. Kill the pet and the ranger is mostly harmless. Kill the ranger’s second pet, and suddenly he’s petless for at least 40 seconds.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
darkmoon shield = shield of the moon
trusty rusty = pirate cutlass
so far every item you posted aswell is just a reskin and are just diff names.
not so rare
the only rare item you mentioned is final rest
As far as I’m aware, Wings of Dwayna and the Reaper of Souls are not reskins of anything. I’ve seen an NPC wielding Wings of Dwayna, but I’ve never heard of someone finding it.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
If memory serves, I believe there was mention that they don’t want any sort of effective companion system, because it would discourage social gameplay by making players more capable in soloing – Which would contradict their goals to encourage players to help each other and group up in the open world.
So, in other words…The ranger’s “unique” class mechanic is broken by design. Good to know.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Translation: Final Rest was never in the game so we told you how incredibly rare it was and it will be added into the game in an update where large event chests are upgraded.
I would have rather you just told us it wasn’t in the game than try to convince me that ONE item in this ENTIRE game was so incredibly rare that you couldn’t give us any reasonable hints to its location.
It’s also possible that the staff simply doesn’t exist outside of pvp and the devs are just trolling us.
Right, because trolling forumites is really worth risking an incredible job with a highly awarded and steadily growing company. Get over yourselves.
Perhaps “trolling” was a bit strong. More like, covering up their mistake by telling everyone “no, it’s really there, we didn’t lie to you! we promise!”
Or you could… since this particular dev has taken the time to talk to us like real people… treat him like a real person and take him at his word. This is called respect, you give it to people until they give you a reason not to.
Respect is something to be earned, not given. I’m not saying they WERE lying, I was merely pointing out the possibility. Because, you know, it is possible.
For the record, I don’t take anyone at their word unless they happen to be a good friend.

Sylvari-Male-Thief
I changed my graphic ‘Shader’ Option from Low to Medium and ever since the Sylvari Glow will fade in and out from lowest-highest shade within an appoximate 10 second time frame each. It will repeat all through the night time when the glow is active. And it shows on all Sylvari as well.
That one isn’t a bug. The sylvari glow is supposed to pulse like that.

Quick note about the evolved destroyer: They did make it easier. If you’re still taking 30 minutes to kill it, I would wager that your group needs to “L2P.”
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I am slighlty confused, however. In the second slot on the armors, it has “Divinity”. Is this some kind of rune or anything similar I can apply to equipment? Because I can’t find anything like it in the trading post.
Highly overrated, highly overpriced, and generally inferior to more specialized options. I wouldn’t bother with them.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Is there anything at all that has synergy with gs/hammer/staff at all in Radiance? I got a ton of crit chance via oil and food, so I don’t need it for just the stats, and have been slowly working away from my ptv gear to up my damage some, hence the ppcrit/ppt armor (apparently everyone has to be super dps now according to 3/4s of the forums).
Some clarification on what you mean by dps/support (i get that one=) or control/ support, this is precisely what I’m asking, is what certain skills/utilities I need for this encounter, to make me not the “great, a noob guard” guy again.
edit Quark posted like the same time I did. Yeah I’m a bit confused to Reis advice ><
I run 4 pieces of knight’s armor, and 2 pieces of soldier’s armor (p/v/t) with full knight’s trinkets. I also run 15 points in radiance for renewed justice. Renewed justice isn’t all that useful in some dungeons, but the initial blind from the 5 point minor trait (blind justice) makes the initial brunt of some trash pulls more bearable. I’m often the last person to go down in a bad pull, and I have soloed a few dungeon bosses while the rest of my team was dead on the floor. After wiping for the third time.
(Sorry dead teammates, but I’m not letting subject alpha reset for a fourth time just so you can all faceplant again.)
-BnooMaGoo.5690
It’s hard to say what happened without being there actually.
Usually, a control guardian (a tank, we just dont use these word to prevent some guardians getting jumpy, because they think tanking is to stand in there) is geared differently than yours.
Not that you did anything wrong, really, but you are wearing a more agressive gear with a more supporty trait, so that could make you versatile, but not enough to actually “control” or dish out a lot of dps.
So i’ll consider you went as more of a dps/support instead of control/support, ok?
What did you earn, with that role in mind, by going AH? I know it’s synergy with Empowering might, but if you are more of a support/dps, why focus on such big healing?
If you are not supposed to get hit, you could spend those points elsewhere, specially with more dmg to debuffed mobs (and getting 250 precision on your way to it!), for example. That spec means you can take some dmg, but not that much.
If you were willing to tank, ooops, sorry, “control”…
then you need to go soldier route on your gear and keep those 30/30 specc.
(Soldier (power/vit/tough) with some Knights in the mix if you feel like you need more crit).I also sugest rune of the soldier in your gear, so all your shouts cleanse everyone.
This post. I don’t really know what to make of it. It doesn’t really make any sense in the context of this thread.
Anyway…If by “first boss” you mean the slave driver, then your entire group had to suck pretty bad to wipe twice. People are always eager to pin the blame on someone else. If anything, I bet that warrior died first.
CoF is a cesspool anyway. Heavily populated by “leet pr0 warriors” who never use anything but full berserker gear, 5 signets, and a greatsword. I get so sick of scraping their sorry hides off the floor that I usually don’t even bother reviving them.

A cool shot before I went to fight the Claw of Jormag and got some good shots at the EB jump puzzle the other night.
Edit, I’m really starting to not like that greenish skin of his…
What shoulders are those?
Those look like banded shoulders.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Banded_armor
-BnooMaGoo.5690
The bow’s connection with the sylvari is in name only. It shares the same skin as the ivory bow from GW1.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Some supporting math to establish perspective. I’m basing this on the chance to not get 0 success results over a given number of trials:
1-(1-p)^attemptsIf 10 people complete the event once per day for 7 months (210 days) they are deemed “likely” to have at least one Final Rest.
- A 95% chance would require a 0.14% drop rate.
- A 50% chance would require a 0.033% drop rate.
To compare to major events, lets look at Claw of Jormag:
- 6 times/day
- Average of 30 people (often many more on my server, but my server is full; I welcome community participation to find better numbers, but we’re just estimating for now)
- 180 days of farming to-date
- 51 servers
This comes out to 1652400 looting attempts.- At 0.0005%, this is > 99.9% chance of at least one.
- At 0.0000000001%, this is very unlikely to occur (4.5899E-08).
- At 0.0002500001% (the average of the previous two—it was strongly implied to be at least this value) there is a 98% chance of at least one.
So if we have had 2 people complete the event once per day across all servers since launch, with a 0.033% drop rate, we’d be looking at >99% chance….
So, if we assume the numbers and techniques I used are correct, then we can conclude any or all of the following:
- At least one has already been looted.
- The event is only very rarely completed—fewer than 100 loots/day.
- The event does not require a lot of people to complete.
Based on all of this, I would wager that the loot table of the chest in question was broken until very recently -or still is.
It’s also possible that the staff simply doesn’t exist outside of pvp and the devs are just trolling us.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
How does it look with the shoulders hidden?
It looks very imbalanced. The shoulders really tie the set together. Without them, the gloves and helm look comically huge. (see attachment 1)
My solution was to mix the Tier 2 shoulders, gloves, and boots with the Tier 3 helm, chest, and legs. Less cash and less clipping.
I tried this as well. It looks better than just hiding the shoulders, but the pieces don’t really match, and it looks rather top heavy with the helm. (attachment 2)
I came up with a mix of inquest and T2 that I think looks nice, but I really don’t want to replace my T3 after spending a small fortune on it. The T2 legs leave a small gap at the waist, but there’s almost no clipping. (attachment 3)
-BnooMaGoo.5690
" Veteran Karka have Champ level HP and can kill 20-30 players with a single attack, and Champion Karka have Legendary x2 HP, you’d think you would know why Southsun is underused." Vince thats a gross exaggeration. You only need about 5 people to kill a veteran karka. That may be true about the champion karka where the rich ori used to be but I dont think they are so cruel to make us face him again.
Prove it. Have you been hit by the Veteran Karka rolling attack? It downs anything it hits. If that thing lines up right it can floor 20-30 players.
Champion Karka have Legendary level HP. When you ‘defeat’ them they shed their shell and regenerate their entire health bar. Young Karka do upwards of 15k damage with their spit attack unless you block, dodge or reflect it.
It’s not a gross exaggeration. Why don’t you go back to the Lost Shores feedback thread and tell all of those people that they were grossly exaggerating when detailing exactly what I just said in their posts?
Stop running around in full berserker gear and things will stop one-shotting you. I find young karka to be mostly harmless. I only run into trouble with them when I happen to aggro more than three -which is rarely. I routinely solo veteran karka, and I have taken the full brunt of their rolling attack without going down. Honestly, their triple stomp combo is much deadlier.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Tabletops/NWN modules and MMOs don’t compare very well. In a MMO you have literal millions of players, and a substantial portion of them eventually wants to have a legendary weapon, for it’s the ultimate goal in GW2 (at least as of now). If you make legendaries truly unique, you either have to include hundreds of thousands of different weapons for players to make (which is likely infeasible for the devs to do) or create a situation that only a fraction of all players can ever have a legendary weapon. In a MMO, that means the handful of fastest players will have one, the rest never will. Which is…umm…not really desirable.
Just to expand on this a bit:
Imagine for a moment that the final battle with Zhaitan was a one time event, like the ancient karka event. Zhaitan was killed within the first 24 hours of the 3 day head start.
Now just imagine that the current legendary weapons followed your model. Most legendaries were obtained within the first few weeks of the game. If there were a finite amount of legendary weapons, only a finite number of people could acquire them. Just as with Zhaitan being a one time event. Only a finite amount of people would have been able to experience it.
Having finite resources -or one time events- in an MMO doesn’t always work. The “hardcore” crowd will devour the content/resources in record time, leaving everyone else in the dust.

Race: Norn
Gender: Male – issue is male only
Class: Warrior
Armour: Orrian BreastplateIt’s more of a design that’s really bugging me, the red scarf/piece around the neck that appears on the male version only ruins a lot of the dye combinations I mix around with – specifically blue – because there is just a thick red neck piece that I cannot change the colour of. Would it be possible to make this a dye change, does anyone else notice this? A bit picky but it really rustles me up!
screenshot:
I suspect that red piece is there because the bottom of the helm, and the top of the torso are designed to form the appearance of a mouth. It works on asura, because the helm and the torso line up perfectly, but I don’t really see it on other races.
Though I agree, the red can be annoying.

i think theres some video of a greatsword warrior soloing lupicus.
google it.
and to all guards and warriors who feel “kitten” by playing range; l2p
That video was shot before reckless dodge was fixed. It’s very likely that he wouldn’t be able to repeat that video now.
On topic: I feel like subject alpha is the only boss that gets it right. Every time I run CoE, I tell my party to melee subject alpha. Those that don’t, are usually the first ones to kiss the floor. Thieves and mesmers are the exception to the rule though, since they can teleport out of crystals any time they need to.
Imprisonment crystals aside, alpha gets an earth wave that gets larger and deals more damage the farther out it goes. He also spams dragon’s tooth on any players that aren’t in melee range (depending on which path you choose). His large overlapping ice/earth AoE tends to get worse if everyone is clumped around him, but: it’s easy to dodge.
Subject alpha is probably the only boss in the game that’s easier to melee than to range.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Here’s another one.
Race: Asura
Class: Guardian
Armor:
*Electroplated Epaulets
*Inquest Breastplate
*Inquest Gauntlets
*Electroplated Leggings
*Electroplated Boots
The electroplated leggings cause a small gap at the waist, which opens up into a hole when in combat. This occurs with other chest plates as well.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
From both a PvE DPS and WvW perspective Sigil of Rage is mathematically the best.
Where is this math of which you speak?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Me & my friend, i’m the female not a fan of gold dye ..
I adore this set.. such a classy knight’s armor…
I don’t dig the shredder mask though. The T2 helm is much nicer to look at.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
The range of the throw may be 900, but the range of the pull seems to be significantly shorter. Enemies may sometimes get stuck in the terrain as well. And occasionally, if you pull an enemy while it’s using a skill, you will interrupt the skill but fail to pull the enemy to you.
This is one of the reasons I prefer the hammer.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I’d like another “big” pet, like a dolyak.
I like Ryoki’s idea of a pet with a short stability or aegis boon. That’d be hot, but we need a more responsive F2 for it to really shine. This would be a good ability for the “big” pet.
I’d like to see some more exotic pets, like crystalline animals as a result of the dragon corruption.
I’d like the Porcine Forage to be made less clunky, especially at range.
Speaking of the corrupted animals, I had always thought it would be cool to tame a nightmare hound, one that wasn’t fully corrupted. The same could go with some branded creatures, maybe there’s a event chain where you perform a ritual to cleanse the aggression from them, allowing them to be tamed.
If you do path 3 of arah explorable, you’ll discover that there was a ritual the forgotten used to free Glint from Kralkatorrik’s control. The priory explorer following you through the dungeon uses this ritual to free a risen chicken.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Well….it turns out, the superior sigil of blood may not actually work in two handed weapons.
I guess that explains why I never noticed it triggering.
I was thinking about the sigil of fire recently as well. It wouldn’t give me might stacks or AH triggers, but it deals quite a bit more damage than the sigil of blood, averaging around 1000 damage for my condition built ranger.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
• Players cannot revive downed-state players while in combat.
• As an alternative to the above: If a reviving player is damaged they are interrupted and cannot attempt another revive for 15 seconds.
On the one hand, you’re arguing against the downed state by disallowing players to revive their downed allies…
• Finishing moves should remove stealth, quickness, stability, and anything of that sort.
…But on the other hand, you’re arguing for the downed state by disallowing enemy players the ability to quick/stealth/shrink stomp downed players.
So which is it?
