Part of the skill required in this game is when to use skills and when you might have to interrupt them to dodge or jump. It’s called strategy. Learn fights, get a feel for timings and this won’t be an issue.

[Suggestion]Some Traits should be Masteries

Very much yes. I find the fall damage reduction essential to my playstyle, but I hate having to switch it out for combat all the time. So I underperform because I enjoy the fall damage traits. I would prefer traits/specializations to be all about combat. The things you listed are only tangentially related to combat so making the masteries makes much more sense.

The actual attribute bonuses you got from trait lines were negligible at best. 2 items more than make up the difference of 6 full points in the current trait lines. The only difference is the boon and condi duration and those might just go in baseline. Your fears are a bit ridiculous and completely unfounded. Switch rings, you should have more than enough ascended ones. There, you more than made up for the stats from the trait lines.

But hey, if you have a ton of AP, run around with your radiant or hellfire armor.

You should probably specify that this in reference to combat against other live humans in WvW and PvP, because at least for a Ranger in PvE there’s no issue with the Pet A.I….at least I have none. So maybe they should have two separate A.I.‘s for Pets and Minions if that’s the case(though I know that’s a ridiculous request, it just makes more common sense), either that or separate A.I. for Minions and Pets.

Necro minion AI is god awful in pve. So it isn’t just pvp.

Considering you haven’t had to pay a cent after initially buying the game because you could purchase everything with in-game gold converted to Gems for 3 years, a $50+ price tag is more than reasonable. They can’t just keep making new content for free forever.

Oh yes, because no one has ever bought anything with real money other than the retail game.

I haven’t. Other than the box price, I haven’t paid an additional cent since.

Are you serious? This game has been out for years. Poor people only had to pay the box price and that was discounted multiple times over the years. Asking for more is just begging. They have warned of the expansion months in advance. Unless you are at the poverty line and should be spending money elsewhere, there is no excuse that you can’t save up for an expansion.

Will I need the expansion to play GW2?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Ralanost.8913

Pretty much all games you buy have expansions you buy separately. If you buy WoW for example, you have to buy each expansion to get the full game.

Not at all. Lots of older games that have a multitude of expansions start including previous expansions with the base product. I believe everything up to Mists of Pandaria is included with the base World of Warcraft game at the moment, so to get into the new content all you have to do is buy the base game and the current expansion. EQ did that as well after a while since they have like 20 expansions at this point.

Sure, if you pay $15 a month, you only have to pay once for the game. So if you pay for a year of WoW for a hundred bucks every year and 7 million other people are doing the same, you can certainly say you’re not paying for each and every expansion.

Or are you?

Edit: Not to mention if you already own the game you DO have to pay for the expansion.

Sorry, that’s a stupid argument. Be against p2p games as much as you want, but making a statement like that is just useless.

What? LMAO!

First of all if you own WoW already, you DO have to pay for expansions. What you’re not paying for is older games if you never owned WoW in the first place. But if you’re playing WoW, and you’ve bought them all, and a new one comes out, you DO have to pay for it. Not pointless at all.

More to the point, you’re already paying. If you pay $15 a month for a game, but they don’t charge you for an expansion (something WOW does anyway) then you ARE paying for an expansion.

The only person who could possibly call this pointless is someone who isn’t paying attention.

Sub fees and expansion fees are different. Sure, they are both money, but they are collect for different reasons. Try and calm down your anger and be a bit more rational. Also, there are people that have taken a break from WoW for years that come back and they don’t have to buy old expansions that they skipped now. And brand new players don’t pay for those old expansions either. Remember, sub fees aren’t expansion fees, no matter how much you say they are.

It an intrinsic part of the game design that you want to shortcut and undermine for personal convenience. If they allowed this, it would be the beginning of a very slippery slope. So yes, it does affect us. It’s not hard and it’s not time consuming. You aren’t required to have every wp unlocked at 80. Just run to the zones you feel you need before you need them. It’s simple and fairly fast and painless.

They already allow insta-80 with tomes of knowledge, gems-> gold for buying what can take months of farming. If you consider personal convenience to be a slippery slope then I have bad news for you; we’re already at the bottom of the ravine. Lol.

Trust me, I resent how much in game can be purchase with gold, and in turn real life money. I really wish more things had to be earned in the game and it was less about opening your wallet or gaming the trading post. I play games to have fun. Focusing on making money isn’t fun and doesn’t help with the escapism aspect of gaming.

Question is, if you do not level (because you use tomes), do not explore (because of unlock wp items), etc… then why do you make new characters in the first place? To stand in LA (or other waypoints that you unlocked using this imaginary item)?

The thread reads like “play how i want” means: i want to get my waypoints unlocked without having to unlock them… that is the definition of entitled. You don’t have the time to unlock waypoints? How are you going to do anything with that shiny new character of yours if you don’t have time to unlock waypoints?

So, what you are telling us is, the only things you can do in this game are unlocking waypoints and leveling characters? And you complain about us skipping content? What do you mean by the ‘etc…’ in bold above?

I am not going to repeat myself, so I simply suggest you go back an re-read things. It explains everything you need to know, to understand where we are coming from and how it doesn’t affect you.

Grandpa Max and the cabbage don’t need to be remembered, only Tybalt was a true and proper hero.

All should be remember. Personal opinion aside, all three gave their lives to save you, and Lions arch and the survivors of Claw island.

The only hitch to the idea of all three, is “technically” only one sacrificed their lives depending on which order you chose. So unless they make 1 statue and the figure is dependent on which one you personally chose, it wouldn’t make much sense.

Very true.

But it isn’t. All three are considered dead, no matter who you chose. You only had a personal relationship with the one in your personal story. But in canon, they all died on Claw Island.

I wouldn’t mind making a headstone for Trahearne. I am looking forward to his passing.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

It’s very, very easy to trait Speedy Kits (and very easy to quickly change back to a different trait) and maintain perma-swiftness. Plus, there’s generally no need for a base run speed increase; it’s already way, way easy to avoid combat and maintain +25% or +33%, for MOST classes anyway.

Guardians need a buff for speed badly, being a turtle while eveyone else is running like the wind is horrible.

I use the trait that decreases shout cds, runes of the centaur (dirt cheap) and slot “Retreat”. You can have swiftness on cooldown.

If you want to use Reaper’s Shroud, you do not have to use a Greatsword or any shouts. You can always pick core Necro weapons and utilities.

If you want to use a Greatsword or any shouts, you do have to use Reaper’s Shroud.

Why you would want to continue using an axe (a Necro’s weakest weapon) after the nerf it got yesterday and the upcoming nerf to axe training is beyond me, though.

It’s not a nerf, it’s a bug.

New animation plus different hit timing plus longer cast time plus updated tooltip? I highly, highly doubt it’s a bug.

I went back and checked a comment and it is indeed intended by Arenanet. The post is in the necro forums. Personally, the animation looks better for my charr. I don’t have a problem with it personally.

Stopped reading at the bolded part. I’m sick to death of people using “entitled” as if it were a dirty word. If people want my money then I’m entitled to tell them what I’d like in exchange for it. I’m entitled to make suggestions. Entitled is not a dirty word.

In this case, I’m entitled to say “hey I’d pay to unlock the waypoints on my other characters now that I have map complete” just like other people are entitled to say just like you are entitled to say something like “hey, I hate the idea of unlocking waypoints on my other characters because I enjoy boredom”

Note: I’m not even in any particular camp on this one. I just don’t see how allowing it affects people who don’t want it.

Furthermore, ‘entitlement’ can’t be thrown around as a dirty word in a game built around a gold-selling cash shop, imo.

They have nothing to do with one another.

So what Weapon for Rev's 1st Spec?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Ralanost.8913

Ralanost.8913

Considering we aren’t 100% sure on what weapons they will use by default, guessing on the extra is asking a bit much.

We already know that Rev will have by Default…

Default Weapons
Hammer
Axe
Mace

with th assumption of
sword (from Rev’s Art work seeing him use sword)
staff (melee weapon shown in the trailer)

Other people speculate Rev may also get as default
Dagger
Shield

So that leave these other Weapons since Dagger is assumed going to Warrior, unless they get Pistol’s instead, and Shield has been confirmed to be for Mesmer. Staff is also going to Ranger so the Melee Staff skills as Rev’s 1st specialization would be against the rule of no 2 Specialization released on the same time use the same weapon.

But you are just stating what I just stated. We know a few weapons from the PoI, but the rest is speculation. So no, we don’t know what they have by default. I don’t know what you were trying to prove.

I’m firmly in the “how does this effect you?” camp. I don’t see how giving the option to unlock waypoints would in any way affect anyone else.

It encourages other players, people that we have to interact with, to be lazy and demand things to be given to them for free from Arenanet. If this isn’t entitlement, I don’t know what is. If people can’t be kitten d to put in a little time to get something as simple as waypoints, I’m fine with them finding a different game. leveling is painful

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ralanost.8913

Ralanost.8913

The thing that gets me is … how can you hate leveling but like playing a character at max level? There’s so little to do at 80 that cannot also be done while leveling. Unless it’s about having a full build with traits — now, that I can understand.

Almost everything you do at 80 you do while leveling, the only difference while leveling you’re dealing with revolving gear, wasted cosmetics, and sub par build. Which is one of the double edges of GW2s, while all content is available it makes leveling redundant.

That’s partially true. But once you have gotten map completion, then a lot of the fun is gone. I’m hoping that HoT fixes that with adventures and the new zones. While I did enjoy getting map completion on 3 characters, I now don’t really touch them as I don’t like dungeons in GW2 and fractals are just boring. I probably would have more fun if I found a talkative guild.

Depends on the signet. Some have much better passives and their actives are relatively useless. For those, they are just buttons I ignore. For my ranger however, going full signet gives you some pretty decent burst damage. But for most classes I do use the passives of signets almost exclusively. Seems to be a bit of a faulty design, but maybe they get more use in pvp. Wouldn’t know, I’m a casual pve carebear.
