Because showing ventari is only one small part of the class. If they are going to reveal base stuff for revenant i would expect all the core stuff at once and a teaser image that actually looks like a revenant (black mist effects etc). Are they going to show off the revenant over 5 weeks? Because i dont see the community being too pleased about such a slow dragged out pace and the lack of other more interesting reveals.
This is also a very clean image of a centaur with thorny vines. It doesnt really seem like the sort of thing to tease a class or spec related reveal.
They still haven’t shown off all the revenant weapons. They could easily show off a weapon, the trait line specialization that goes with the new legend and the utility skills that go with it. That is the exact same amount of info that Elite Specializations have been getting. Why couldn’t they do that for Revenant? Why wouldn’t they seeing as it’s a new class and they want to hype it up to help sell the expansion.
Which is what i said. But like i also said before. I feel like thats such a pathetic small amount of info for a reveal.
It’s a tease for the reveal later this week. No need to have an attitude.
The revenant assumption seems silly to me. Its a centaur, not a playable race. Theres no revenant style symbol/colouring either. A transform into something like a centaur seems pretty odd. Its no less odd than a druid transforming into a centaur.
Im not saying its impossible. Just seems pretty much equally unlikely as druid (putting dev comments aside).
Ventari is one of the Revenant legends, like the current Jalis and Mallyx. Why would showing Ventari for showing off the Revenant Ventari legend be silly in any way?

Think of it this way. Sure, they get more total skills, but what they get in quantity, they lack in customization and flexibility. It’s a trade-off. Other than choosing what legends you are running, you have zero choice in what heal/utilities/elite you run.
We don’t need mounts. We will have more than enough mobility with mushrooms and gliders.
Don’t make any outfit or armor racially exclusive. We have enough of that with cultural armor.
The real concern here is one of the world bosses that actually has phases besides spamming auto attack on it the whole fight is the one where he questions the design.
Phases are fine. When the boss stretches out an encounter due to invulnerability or inaccessibility, that isn’t fine. It’s boring and unengaging. Do you find it fun when you aren’t able to fight the boss and have to do something else? I don’t. It’s one reason I avoid Tequatl. The megalaser phases stink. I even hate Karkas with all their stupid evades. It artificially elongates the fights for no good reason.
Instead of having intelligent phases that require some coordination, phases like these force players to do something else since damaging the boss is impossible until some other task is done. A better way would be if the boss had some lethal sort of attack that would only happen if this one thing was there. Whether it be an add or an object, it would be something that had to be dealt with while the boss is still active. Or maybe the boss has a weak point that can be exposed if you do something like hit it with an explosive barrel or an add dies near it. There are tons of ways to make bosses more interesting and engaging other than forcing players to do something else since the boss can’t be touched at certain times.
Yes it is annoying when dungeon groups do that hence why I only dungeon with my guild unless I am desp for tokens (extremely rare). Speed running dungeons in any MMO I find annoying, but GW particularly lacks basic mechanics to prevent it and as such, the culture you decribe applies.
As for MH. I tried. 2, 3 and 4. I really tried. Each time myself and my friend convinced ourselves there must be something about it to make it so popular. But the controls, just so hideous. Just utterly unsuited in every possible way to the game it was tied to. Each to their own though, I long since realised it just isn’t aimed at me and decided to leave it to those who appreciate it, Here in GW2, the ease of play is a breath of fresh air after a long day at work.
I have GW1 and TSW and some other games if I want a more challenging system to play. I think it’s refreshing GW2 has taken the approach that it has. And I don’t think they are yet anywhere near done unlocking its potential either.
Yeah, that is really annoying. I wish there are more new players.
Huh, another comment from someone that don’t like MH. That really surprised me.
No game is loved by everyone. Every game has players who hate it. Most players fall somewhere in the middle of love it and hate it.
And people read your long *post because you took the time to section it out. It wasn’t a huge wall of text.
I understand that, but MH is one exception. I have yet to hear any bad reviews about MH, until today. Anyway, I respect others’ opinion and that’s why I started this post, to see what others think.
I personally hate huge wall of text, so I did that. I want my readers to read them easily too.
I like how some other games handle action combat a bit better. There are a few things about MH that I just can’t stand. I hate consumables. I don’t find them worthwhile to gameplay. I don’t like wasting resources on them and I don’t like wasting time to gather for them or make them. MH is pretty consumable heavy. I also think MH movement is a bit too deliberate and slow. As ridiculous as some of the weapons are, it tries too hard to be realistic. It’s why I like TERA and Dragon Nest combat better. It’s faster and gives more freedom of movement.
That said, I appreciate what MH stands for and how it has inspired other games, but I like the games that are iterations on MH, not MH itself.
I just find Claw to be tedious and boring. Once you know the mechanics, it is very easy but still takes too long. Phase 1 is horrible since you are mainly just autoattacking with charrzooka 1 while waiting for which claw attack you have to mitigate. And phase 2 is equally as boring if you aren’t farming champs. Guiding golems isn’t fun. To be honest, some world boss fights I just avoid now. Claw of Jormag, Tequatl(takes too long and can still sometimes fail), Megadestroyer(people are too lazy to do the pre events half the time), Taidha(tons of leechers and a boring pre event) and even Fire Elemental(pre events take too long and boss is dead in less than 30 seconds).
Come on guys. Why in the world would they use Ventari as a teaser for challenging group content? You are grasping at straws.
Because the content involved has a lore background to do with centaurs/ventari? All content of this type has lore. Fractals have lore. Dungeons have lore. Challenging group content will probably have lore…
Id say saying its revenant because of a datamined legend is grasping at straws. Why would they use a single legend as the teaser for a class? Why would they only reveal one legend? And i severely doubt we will transform into a centaur so it seems even less likely that its to do with that.
Revealing a single legend, and possibly one of their weapons, is the same content as an elite spec reveal for any other profession. Why would transforming into a centaur have anything to do with it? I never mentioned that and only people talking about druids have said that.
Also, I doubt challenging content would solely deal with centaurs, let alone Ventari himself. That’s like if they showed off Fractals for the first time with just a teaser image of Mai Trin. Like that would make any sense.

Guild wars 1 had these: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/PvP_Access_Kit and http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Skill_Unlock_Pack. Just saying.
Even though both games are Guild Wars, they are completely different. A lot of things that worked for GW simply don’t work for GW2.

I can almost guarantee that won’t happen. Elite specs are part of HoT. You want them? Buy the expansion.
It simply sounds like you don’t like the game. That’s fine. But I don’t think any of your points are a fault in the game. It’s your perceptual bias. Your opinion. I suggest finding a game that suits you better.
For example, I love the marauder pants. They do wonders for my asuras spindly legs. The only chest piece that doesn’t hide them is the glorious one, which isn’t easy to get. (especially as a mainly pve player) We absolutely need more variety for medium armor chest pieces.
Well, they are making condi builds more viable. They are removing stats from trait lines. Add all that with the new was traits/specializations work and you might want some different gear and try out different builds. But chances are you will settle fairly soon. If you want stat and gear progression, this isn’t your game.
With ricochet, don’t you kill bystanders all the time anyway?
On a side note… why does everyone have a super banana?
Got mine a few weeks ago from the BLC when it was a thing again.
Season 2 has ended. So if you purchase it you get the entire season. Of note, it was available for free to all players that logged in during each episode.
Oh and the complete season 2 pack is 1600 gems and contains 8 episodes.
It isn’t that expensive at all. I think they are selling the full pack for 400 gems, was on sale for 320.
I think the people who use them don’t play with sound on.
I find the hero tron backpack much worse.
Also keep in mind as soon as HoT comes out you will get quite a bit of (old world) mastery points awarded retroactively due to what you have already done in the world, prior to HoT, so if legendary precursor crafting are the mastery you feel is most important for you, you can likely get most if not the whole line right from day 1
You need to earn “mastery experience” in order to unlock lines in addition to the points.
For instance the glider skills take 20-30 levels worth of “mastery xp” in order to unlock all of them.
Hopefully it is not too time consuming to unlock them.
Considering masteries are account wide, they have to be somewhat time consuming. They are a form of progression and they are meant to take some time to unlock them. They aren’t meant to be a small speedbump before you have them all.
Play the living story. At the end of dragonsreach pt II it’s pretty obvious they are barely getting along as it is. Each faction is only worried about their own borders for the most part and try not to work with others unless they have to. They are reluctant neighbors at best. I mean, when sylvari first awakened, no one knew how to react to them. Asura didn’t think they were actual intelligent life forms and used them as testing materials. Of course there was the war between humans and the charr. It’s hardly nothing but smiles and sunshine.
But they won’t fight each other. Why? they all have enough enemies bothering them as it is. They are smart enough to not pick on a major faction for no good reason. And they have to save their resources for when they do have to team up against common foes, like the elder dragons.
Basically, if you bothered to follow the story it would be pretty self evident why things are the way they are.
Not going to happen. Expansion content comes with the expansion. If people want access to it, they need to buy it. It’s that simple.
Part of the reason I have Royal Ascalonian weapons is to tell what time of day it is in certain zones. Glowing? Night time. Normal? Day.
If it would make some of the exotic ones cheaper, I would be all for it. One thing I really want to see is more stat diversity in gear that isn’t gated behind stupid crafting time gates. I think sinister and celestial suffer from that? But also add in more gems or crests or whatever with more stat variety.
I got 4.3 million karma.. does squat…
Spend a couple hours clicking on crab grabbin gloves and turn it into nearly 400 gold?
He didn’t come into this thread to learn. He came to complain. He didn’t even bother to read the other posts.
I would be fine with having multiple gear sets….IF there was a better way to deal with them. Having some templates set up so you could switch gear with a click of a button would make it so I wouldn’t mind having multiple gear sets. But now? Not a chance. It’s bad enough we don’t have a way to save builds and switch them instantly while out of combat.
Honestly I thought players would be happy with the notion that new armor sets will be earnable in game. Every time they came out with an outfit in the Gem Shop the cry goes out for armor instead. So guess what, they heard of you and now are making it in game and there are still complaints? They can’t win for losing.
While we want this to be true, the fact remains that her resume includes Nexon which is well known to be all about the cash shop.
It is just like when you go to find work and there is that one company on your resume that no one wants to hire from. You’re not going to be trusted very easily.
That is pretty much what is happening here. It doesn’t matter whether or not Nexon has any say, she worked with them and that is enough to make the players leery of what she has to say. They will have to deliver enough for us to see past it.
Any armor sets that “magically” start appearing when a player uses something bought from the gem store WILL erode that trust even further.
You mean NCsoft? They are just the publisher. They have nothing to do with development.
Its about 9 gold for every 100k karma. Theres a heart in bloodtide coast that gives you Crab Grabbin Gloves put 4 of these in the forge and salvage what you get back for linen. Heart is in Archen Foreland
Putting soulbound karma gear in the toilet gets you soulbound karma gear.
This was nerfed months ago.
Except it wasn’t. I did this about 2 weeks ago. Every once in a while it spits out something you can’t salvage. Just toss it in the MF with some of the other karma gloves to get something to salvage.
1,055 hours in total. Now consider I took about 2 years off.
What command do you type to see this?
Ele fire staff should have zero problems with world bosses. I have no clue how you are getting constantly downed.
sounds like he just mostly stands there.
Wow. You folks sure know how to make someone feel special. :P
I run a full zerker (rares, working towards exotics) staff elementalist on boss runs.
Claw of Jormag has a tendency to surprise me with those blasts of ice walls he throws down. The three final champions in the Silverwastes can get me down on occasion. So on and so forth.
I dodge when I see a warning area on the ground, but that and a 1200 range is not always enough. If I run out of endurance for dodging or just happen to get tripped up, all it takes is one good shot and I’m downed. I’m just looking too see if there’s something better out there.
First off, you can’t crit world bosses like those, so zerk gear is close to useless. If you have about 200k karma or so, go to the temple of grenth in cursed shore. There is zerker gear and soldier trinkets. That 200k covers the armor, but if you want the trinkets for the survivability, I would suggest those first.
For Jormag specifically, I stay in water attunement while waiting for the wall to go down and heal people until then. With soldier trinkets you should be able to live through most of his attacks, just learn to dodge the ice crystals that form in the air, that will save you a good deal of damage. 3 final champs for VW are very easy to live through if you follow a good group. Like north opening flowers and stand on them when the boss runs to the west side of the room. Mid champ you have to bust open pustules and get inoculated and then stand in the white semicircle when it goes to the west side of the room.
So while some of your problem is your gear, some is you not knowing the fights yet. Learn, adapt and get better. It is incredibly rare for me to be downed on any world boss outside of Triple Trouble, but I don’t do that boss enough to know all the monsters attacks. Hell, I find some fights in the living story a LOT more challenging and unfair. Even then, once you learn the attack patterns, it’s just a matter of not being a failure and following the dance.
Also, what armor runes do you plan to run? Weapon sigils? Utility slots? Traits? Might as well get the full run down while we are here.
Considering how many people hate outfits, I don’t think this will be viewed positively. On the other hand, I’m looking forward to all the new armor sets with HoT.
Ele fire staff should have zero problems with world bosses. I have no clue how you are getting constantly downed.
I despise daily:
Vista
Events
Gatherer
Mystic Forger
CrafterI think they should be removed since they are far too simple and provide no challenge.
Daily fractal takes a bit of time and effort and is actually perhaps worth 10 AP.
why do you people think you should be rewarded with 10 AP for doing 5 minutes of work?
these super hard difficult despised fractals are so hard that you should get 10 AP because you can’t do them/cant be bothered????
I don’t find fractals hard to be honest. I find them tedious and not fun. So I don’t do them. And for the most part the rewards are trash unless you are at reward level 50 or some garbage like that. I don’t feel like grinding fractals until I can get decent rewards and crafting a bunch of ascended gear that costs too kitten much.
I would like the option to toggle what kind of PVE dailies i get, being forced to Fractals isn’t something I would like to do. I’m not a pvper either.
This might come as a surprise but the PvP dailies do not actually require any real PvPing due to the existence of custom arenas setup(by players) either for dailies or for rank farming. You could probably get them done in the time between two world bosses.
Believe it or not, pve only players don’t even like to hop in custom arenas. I know I hate it. I did it for a short period when I was in a guild that had a custom arena for that purpose. But I always felt I was bothering people asking to do the pvp dailies, so I stopped.
1. Check what classes have daily winner.
2. Hop between different “rank farm” arenas till you end up in winning team.
3. Follow big train of players running to the middle point.
4. Press auto attack few times.
5. Pvp defender and pvp killer completed instantly. (If you need daily capture just join losing team and cap point nearest to your spawn. Or wait till next round and cap a point at the start. )
6. Always press “volunteer” when you see a pop up on the left side of the screen.
7. Wait till the end of the round.
8. Daily winner completed.Takes 0 effort and less time than openworld event achievements. It is probably a bit different in NA but still as fast.
Just opening up the pvp browser menu gives me a bit of anxiety. PvE carebears like myself just aren’t comfortable with pvp at all, no matter how zero effort it is.

I just remember trying to help a new player a month or so ago with this and I was dumbfounded they locked skill points away at all. Let alone until after level 10. The newbie experience is already painfully dull. You start with your autoattack and your heal. That’s it. At least when the game launched you could see the other skills and unlock them as you use your weapon. Level unlocks feel bad.
I will say, it has a thriving erp scene. I was getting close to my 5k ap chest, so was looking for some simple achievements I hadn’t done before. There was one in Ebonhawke for reading 18 or so books in one sitting without logging out or zoning. There is an inn in Ebonhawke that I never went in to before. In two of the bedrooms there were 2 females, naked, staring at each other standing on the bed. I got the books and got the heck out. Just remembering that gives me the creeps.
As Edgar stated, they are locked behind level 20 currently. Hopefully that gets rectified after they dismantle the current New Player Experience after the huge negative feedback they got for it.
I am with the OP. For example, Tolkien knew we needed Tom Bombadil, Rivendell, and Lothlorien to lighten things up. The gloom-and-doom was mixed fairly liberally with the more light-hearted.
Even those still had something creepy, otherworldly or melancholy about them. Tom near the barrow downs and dealing with those creepy kitten living trees that try and EAT PEOPLE and both Lothlorien and Rivendell dealt with Elves and them leaving Middle Earth.
There will be other betas. Be patient. This was an extremely narrowed and focused test.
It’s the first one. Basically a copy of the demo. They didn’t even test elite specializations to my knowledge. There will be more betas in the future. More extensive ones with more content to test. Calm down.
Even when I downloaded the whole game it never took 2 hours. Are you running a 56k modem?
While I do want different armor looks, I can’t say I’m interested in the armors you linked. Doesn’t look anything like I would want my ranger to wear.
Do you guys even read…
i am saying LA should have lively music, as of now, every new zone is getting darker and more depressing.
if you think that the entire game should wail in agony and be sad that many died to create an immersion then it will spell badly for the players.
can you imagine going into every zone and it is dark and depressing? for goodness sake, this is an mmo, not a dungeon crawler. you make LA and other towns like divinity’s reach to be so lively and beautiful but the music is still saddening and it kills the mood.
Maybe the new LA will have more upbeat music? It is being rebuilt after all. You are worried because the new area (a very small part of it) has a depressing theme and so does the current LA. Well, they are both sites of great tragedy. Why would they not? But we have only seen a very small portion of the new Maguma Jungle, so who knows what else there is in store. Maybe the Hylek and Mursaat will have more upbeat themes. You are using two small examples fairly poorly.
I usually go something else. Since we had shiverpeaks lumber and snowden drifts events, got those knocked out together. Then bought an exotic warhorn in wvw for big spender. Very simple. But yeah, I avoid fractals nowadays.
As others have stated. It’s a demo. The area is heavily sectioned off. So they can’t let your dying body go into a map they aren’t ready to show off or test.
The pact fleet got annihilated in mid air. Who knows how many died and how many are missing. You are in there to help people trapped in a hostile area with no supply lines or real back up. Of course it’s depressing. But that is just a small tidbit of the zone. I seriously doubt the entire place will give the same feeling.
