No. Class and race should stay and be unchangeable.
I can understand class, but I see no reason why you shouldn’t be able to race change.
Might have been an outfit and not actual armor.

Is there some reason you’re not packing them down into vision stones?
How many vision crystals do you need? There are ways to get vision crystals that are basically free. Lots of achievements or pvp tracks give vision crystals and you can buy them for 20 skill points. But unless you are crafting the armor, vision crystals are useless.
where can you buy them for skill points? What about the lesser versions? That is what i really need.
Bah, nevermind, was looking at the cost. Augur stones are what cost 20 skill points and those are required for the lesser or normal vision crystals.

Those are all the ways to get a lesser crystal.
Scarlet’s End reward
Rare Regalia achievement reward
Possible drop in Gift from Mawdrey II
Exotic Attire achievement reward
Possible drop in Generosity’s Reward from Star of Gratitude

Taimi is okay, but I admit, Kasmeer x Marjory definitely needs to be axed. It’s badly done to the point where I’d say it’s unnecessary.
Braham… his relationship with Taimi is interesting, but other than that I don’t like him much. I don’t mind an “all brawn no brain party member though”.
Rox is… yeah no, if she died off I’d be okay without her.
Kasmeer is an okay party member, but her romance and story is crap.
Marjory, I liked at first, but not so much now.Disclaimer: I did not play during season 1, so I never got to actually “meet them”.
I think that is one of my major problems with them. I never played season 1 and the little I have seen of them they get on my nerves. I despise how Rox and her stupid kawaii devourer look, both with their large anime eyes. I hate Braham and his mommy issues. Marjory is so bland it hurts. I think Taimi is interesting, but a bit annoying.
Mainly though, I feel the story should focus on us, the characters. I really don’t find these new characters interesting at all and the fact I can never do season 1 means I will never be invested with them.
I had to check google for ‘hobosack’ (also dorito) since I am not english/american and don’t know that stuff. It gave me a good laugh :-)
Topic: there are other games witch shape-shifting where you are in a different shape and won’t see your armor etc. almost never. I think they just want to keep it in order you to feel immersed.
See, the problem is a lot of the incentives in this game are VISUAL. The fact that engineers rarely see visual upgrades or customization to their back item and weapons is in direct contradiction to the games goals and directions. That is a problem and needs to be fixed.
People actually go back and read about their personal story? If they made the token usable only after you finished the race specific section of the story or after the story is completely finished I don’t see why they couldn’t add the ability to change race. I think this item would sell quite a few gems and wouldn’t be surprised to see this feature in the future.
Yes, they do^^
I like that I have a story that’s not entirely generic. Having the option to change it by changing my race would somewhat cheapen this aspect of the game for me.Then don’t do it. Why should other people not have the option because certain people who would never use the feature don’t want to have their personal story changed? I don’t really have any need for a race change personally but why some people are so against it I don’t understand, nobody is forcing you to do so.
But it would take a of hours to recode the game to accept a race change. It would take countless hours of going through the code to make sure that nothing related to the old race remains. And the personal story.
For how many players in real life?
ANet may not feel the players who would use it would offset the costs to make it changeable.
Lot’s of assuming with no actual knowledge. The number of hours and number of people interested is not something Anet can tell us and it’s definitely not something you are privy to. As a customer I would pay cash to race change 2 of my characters. So I’m telling Anet that and my desire for this function. If you don’t like it, then don’t use it or ask for it. Very simple. No need to poo poo on other people’s desires.
Things do not “need to happen” just because someone wants them. At the end of the day, any decision that is made has to be somewhat profitable, and weighing the huge effort it takes to make a race change possible in a game where your race determines the story you’re playing (to a point, but still) against the possible monetary gain will probably get one result: It’s not worth it.
Some decisions should be made carefully, like race and profession. You can’t change either, that is a known fact, and so one should consider their options and pick something they are likely to stick with. Or make throwaway characters, for keyfarming or story achievements, but then don’t spend tons of gold to level crafting or gear them up.
It can always happen that one gets tired of a character, but I doubt that those cases warrant the effort it would take to make it possible to change something as fundamental as your characters race.
Sorry, I didn’t know when making an asura or charr that Anet gave a kitten about how armor looks on them. If I had known I never would have made any of my characters anything other than human/norn/sylvari.
Sorry, but when you can spend gems/money on things like bag slot unlocks that only work for one character, things like race changes need to happen. And I have been playing mmorpgs for a long time as well. While I didn’t go through the “fun” of EQ or DAoC, the early leveling of WoW was pretty atrocious.
But for example, I got an elementalist and ranger that I would love to have as a sylvari or norn. But they both have professions over 400 with my ele having both at 500. I’m not going to level those again and I would rather not have to buy yet another character slot when a race change would be better.
I don’t like asura and they keep getting shoved in my face.
I really don’t like charr, and for some reason it’s necessary I smile and pretend everything’s fine with the ceasefire.
Everything is fine. Flame Legion were the idiots that wanted all the war and death the most. The other 3 legions are killing them when and where they can. Is that not justice? Cleaning up their own mess and losing some of their own in return?
There are usually steps given to you to recover your account. Why don’t you just follow the steps instead of writing on the forums?
Like Seera said, a race change is quite a huge logistical undertaking from a coding point of view. It may not even be possible at all, or if it is it would take significant work to implement and test for any bugs. There’s a lot of things that could go seriously wrong if bugs slipped through.
Rerolling is very easy in the game already (account bound ascended gear, shared skins, titles, AP… plenty of level up tomes and XP wrist and boosters are available, only lock are traits and waypoints/map completion) so I’m personally happy just creating a new character. I understand it’d be convenient to have a race change option, but at least the alternative isn’t so bad.
Sorry, locked traits, map completion and character specific unlocks along with possible professions make rerolling painful.
One of the reasons I can’t get into my engineer is that skins mean less on them. Weapon skins? You rarely see them if you use any kits. Back pieces? Same problem. That is 2-3 slots that you can’t meaningfully visually customize in a game about visual customization. There needs to be an option or something to turn off class specific gear.
There are certain points during leveling that you get the best results by tossing a few silver at the tp. Level 62 is a prime example. Masterwork gear with 3 stats and pre slotted runes for dirt cheap. Best you can craft is level 60 magic gear with no runes. I honestly feel like crafting is garbage currently. There is no real incentive to do it when you can make more money selling mats and buying things you need from the tp.
Specializations aren’t just the new weapon for the profession. It also adds a new trait line, gives a new class mechanic, new utilities and an elite. It’s a lot more than just a few new weapon skills.
If GW2 becomes reality, sadly Tyria would probably be filled with mostly dudes. Unless, you guys really want to live your life out as a girls.
Let’s throw in fantasy genders to liven things up. I won’t say the names since transgenders take offense to them, but there is more than just male and female out there.
Evolved kabuto is a kabutops right. Seriously what I thought of first. No idea what this other kabuto thing you talk about is, no clue at all.
So trying to read what you said again… humhum.. so you want players to be able to turn into monsters? Some npc monsters for players to hunt? I’m not sure I understand it.
Think Evolve. It’s the latest in asymmetrical pvp matches. A group vs a single monster. Imagine a pvpish match where a player pilots a champion monster against you.
How amazingly lazy. Usually I can use a type of wood or ore and I hop into the appropriate zone for the daily. And for foraging there are plenty of gardens that you can knock out the daily in one go fairly quickly. I will say that I would like the number of events to be reduced. I don’t see how doing 4 events is engaging. It also ruins some zones by having 80s zerg in and destroy all events in that zone for the day.
Finally managed to get it in a midday slow group. I stayed in front of Teq most of the time helping people and killing fingers. I will still say, never seen the whirlpools before that. I honestly think this is something Anet should look at and possibly think about reworking the mechanics.
I tried that. All the circles look the same. Stood in a few and nothing happened. I have no idea what I’m looking for or how to trigger it. This is insanely frustrating especially when you consider how long I have to wait between attempts.
You expected a new element along with new weapon skills for sword for all the current elements as well? How greedy can you get? Having a new F skill might be nice, but that would be a whole lot of new skills for elementalists over every other class. Every weapon combination would have new skills. That is a massive amount of work.
Even getting the sword gives us more new weapon skills than any other class gets.
Is this still the case? I keep trying over and over and can never see the whirlpools. This achievement is very frustrating with the small window of opportunity you get in such a long fight. And if you happen to die when he is about 75%? Well, too bad. Have to try again in 3 hours. Is there a spot near Teq that they are more likely to appear? At his feet while stunned, in front, behind, any advice to finding it would be welcome.
People usually group up for the story dungeon pretty fast. Just set aside some time for it. It can take about 40+ mins just from all the waiting you have to do. It’s not terribly difficult, just time consuming. Use the in game group finding feature or get help from people on the forum. In less than an hour you can knock it out. No drama needed.
You are never the only one. Ever.
I have this same issue with my charr. I absolutely despise the choices for female charr light armor. It’s almost all horrible. If there was a race change I would do so just to have SOME options to look good. I’m fine with some armor for charr and asura being unisex, but not ALL of it.
Edge of Destiny was rather poor. Hilariously inconsistent writing that isn’t helped by the general blandness of Destiny’s Edge as a group. The only thing I could really recommend it on is the Logan + Rytlock friendship, which is actually rather witty at times. It’s just unfortunate that the most important of the three novels was also the weakest link.
Ghosts of Ascalon was well done. It had some great characters, and I’d go as far as to say that the under-use (and that’s an understatement) of Dougal Keane in Guild Wars 2 is just criminal. I’d wholeheartedly recommend the novel.
Sea of Sorrows was at least on par with Ghosts of Ascalon – probably better. My one criticism of the novel was that the undead were almost always a deus-ex-machina for Cobiah’s every problem, but, for all of that, the novel had effective action and suspense with a better cast of characters than the actual game has.
Totally agree. I actually dropped reading edge of destiny when they were doing some gladiatorial stuff because it got so tedious to read. The other two books were great.
Don’t care about hype. I want actual info and details.
Yeah, I would prefer to actually earn things. Not pay for them.
Had my female norn sound like a male human praising Balthazar and a female asura yelling For great justice!
bought a char slot...nice surprise i seen!
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Well at least that’s confirmation that you need Heart of Thorns to make a Revenant.
Did this need to be said? Did anyone honestly think otherwise?
Works for now, thanks for the tip.
Is it really necessary to be rude when someone is expressing an opinion? Saying someone is “babbling” is an overt put-down. You add nothing to the discussion with this kind of behaviour.
You are overly sensitive. I was stating that the OP said nothing in the body of the first post that had any relevance to the title as far as I know. If someone is going to type out a few paragraphs, at least make it a bit more obvious what you are talking about. So yes, they were babbling.
You know what happens when you azzume that there’s going to be a big boss battle at the end of HoT?
It’s a game. Not only a game, but an MMORPG. Of course there are going to be big bosses to fight. You look silly saying that.
You mention rocket tag encounters in your title and then babel about pathfinder table top gaming. Is there are point you are trying to make and have you even played Gw2 at all?
I always thought pistols were weird for mesmers. I see nothing wrong with shields.
It doesn’t just affect your hair. The glow affects body patterns as well, that is why.
Unless there are some amazing animations to go with those they are some of the most boring skins I have seen.
The expansion hasn’t even been released and you’re already complaining about it.
im not a nay sayer buuuuut.
they NEVER EVER even try to talk about the Map and its SIZE and dodge EVERY question about it.
personaly i predict it will be a single zone with a GIANT tree in the middle where we will be going upwards aaaaand thats it realy….
They don’t want to give out every detail yet. They are still slowly doling out information. You are grasping at straws and assuming the worst.
The explorable zone will not be big. The upper levels have to be full of holes for the Archeage copied glider to fly through.
You don’t know. You haven’t seen anything. They have shown us one tiny corner of one tiny part of a map on one level of said map. You are making assumptions off of virtually no information.
Yeah, really not a fan of it as an activity so I would gladly take a fast game. Sprint is much more fun even if I never get close to winning.
I just hope it’s before August. I would rather not have a long wait to deal with.
To be fair, a lot of this is just intrinsic issues with mouse and keyboard. Keeping your cursor in check is sort of a skill you need to pick up.
That said, new cursor choices and sizes couldn’t hurt.
Try some mouse sensitivity settings in the meantime. I found I kept much better track of my cursor when I turned them up, and setting it to your own preferences will help.
That doesn’t help at all. With all the movement some fights require and all the visual noise on screen, it is virtually impossible to keep up with the small and drably colored pointer when it matters most. Mouse sensitivity has no relevance to visibility.
I want them to surprise and wow me. I would rather not see boring or expected specializations after how interesting revenant was shown to be. Revenants don’t interest me, but their skills were pretty impressive and I hope that translates to the specializations.
Me and 4 guildies.
I just don’t want fights to look like Wildstar. It was one of the things I absolutely hated. The game became more red light, green light than actual fighting.
Our skills, as a individual character, is a joke compared to the eternal dragons. It makes a Lot more sense , logically, that we would use a super weapon to kill them.
I don’t care. This is a fantasy game. Turrets aren’t fun. Screw your logic.
There are 5 zones in the 1-15 range and 4 in the 15-25 range.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Explorable_zone
That gives you a good idea of where to head to at what level.
The removal of that green star and text was the greatest reward for finishing the story
You can remove the tracking for personal story in the options menu
I tried that, it refuses to go away.
They would get so much flak if they gave us Mordremoth as Zhaitan 2.0. I don’t know how good it will be, but it is almost impossible to have it be as bad as Zhaitan was.
