But he’s been dead over 200 hundred years. Why bother? They should at least finish out the rest of the six gods before bothering with defunct deities.

i’ll see your point and raise you one revenant.

What does revenant have to do with anything? Revenants don’t channel gods and they don’t channel Abaddon. The worst they have is Shiro and Mallyx. Both were powerful, sure, but Abaddon was a god. You can’t really compare them.

So I will dismiss your point and raise you the fact that we already have a Balthazar and Dwayna outfit. Pretty logical extension to think we would get the others at some point. Grenth would sell amazingly well. Though I don’t think Kormir would fair well unless it looks amazing.

Gems from real money too expensive

Or you can just buy gems with gold. The price is what it is. I also find it expensive, but seeing as I can eventually buy whatever I want with gold I really have no reason to object. Meanwhile, some people have easily spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on gems. Different people have different budgets.

I don’t recall a jp that’s required for map completion. Which map is this?

Breached Wall. Viziers Tower. Not to mention a number of Vistas that have jumping puzzle like paths in order to access them.

@OP: Best bet is to get a friend that likes jumping puzzles and has a mesmer.

Breached wall is a bit long, but it’s also pretty tame.

Compared to things like Griffonrook Run, Scavenger Hunt and many other difficult ones yes, Breached Wall is very tame. Also, finding a mesmer friend or a guild to help out would greatly improve your thinking on jumping puzzles.

As much as I dislike jps, I refuse to use mesmer portals. I used it one time for not so secret, mainly to get the diving master achievement. I prefer to earn things myself. It’s why I feel like I cheated myself a bit for buying some items with gold to make my mawdrey instead of making everything myself since I didn’t feel like grinding out the geodes and waiting to craft the things I needed with the daily cds.

One day I was bored and wanted the poi for the sand dune caverns underneath silverwastes. I think I almost did that jp with no guide on my own. Sadly, I got to a point that I couldn’t figure out how to proceed and I ended up giving up, but I got the poi and 3 chests. So while it was frustrating, it was more rewarding than getting a mesmer portal.

I’ve only used a Mesmer portal on a single JP (Not So Secret) to get up about halfway. The rest I’ve finished on my own, with the only one I used a guide on being Scavenger’s Chasm. But there’s no shame in farming for gold to get what you want, ’cause you still earned that gold.

Sorry, but earning something by doing and earning something by paying for it aren’t comparable. With one you feel an actual sense of accomplishment. With the other, well, you got a new shiny. I honestly hate that so many things can be bought with gold/gems/cash. It’s why I have so little respect for legendaries right now, but fractal skins are much more impressive to me. BLTC skins? Meh. And although it is mostly just grinding, luminescent armor will always have some respect from me. That takes a bit of effort to get and you can’t just buy it.

I 100% disagree. Some of the outfits were made to give the female charr and asura the female version and I think it worked fine and I like it that way better. More than anything, I think we deserve more options. Right now, for armor sets and not outfits, there are no options. You are forced to dress like a guy. I don’t care if charr and asura don’t have mammaries like the other races, they are still female. They should be allowed female clothing options if they want.

Bleeds and Burns

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ralanost.8913

Ralanost.8913

That would make me chose burn over bleed which I would consider bad game design. Like I said, every condi has a perk or counter-play. Chills put your skills on cooldown when confused – don’t attack. When taunted don’t move, and so on.

Your argument really doesn’t work. Chills, other than Reaper, do no damage. Confusion is getting reworked to do damage over time in addition to reworked damage per attack. So even holding back on attacking doesn’t prevent all damage. And Taunt is a CC. You don’t have a choice, you walk to the person that taunted you and just autoattack.

If you want to compare burns and bleeds, do it to other DoTs, like confusion, torment, and poison. And doing that, it works. Bleeds are super easy to apply and should stack really high, really quick. Meaning bleeds will do decent damage. Burns, while harder to apply and likely end up having much smaller stacks, will do more comparative damage. But keeping the stack high will be harder, so the consistant damage will be on par. Poison is fairly easy to apply and has the health reduction on it, so likely it will end up stacking as high as bleeds, but do less damage since it has the healing reduction built in.

Overall, it will be reasonably balanced, pending seeing the code working on the live game. We don’t know the specific formulae, but if we go by Arenanet’s word things should work out to be mostly equal.

Underwater Improvement: Bubbles!

Depends on what class I’m playing. I absolutely despise underwater combat on my ele. It feels wrong and weak. I hate it. Where as I feel just as strong, if not stronger in some cases, on my ranger and thief.

I don’t want professions I enjoy to make me miserable playing them if I end up having to do a lot of underwater combat. That’s not cool. If they fixed some classes so they didn’t feel like garbage underwater then I would be more for this.

But yeah, having limited weapons and limited utilities makes underwater combat just less interesting and viable.

Less scummy way? like a Subscription that people would be making 2739847289 thread about every day demanding “more content nao!” since they pay such an exorbitant fee (12-15/month) for the game..?

I’m sorry you don’t understand what a bad investment is, nor do you understand the value of your own money. And people are still begging for more content now. Living Story wasn’t the best content delivery method and now they are trying expansions. In the meantime, the current game is at a standstill with no new content for months.

On the other hand, I would easily pay 1200 gems for account bag unlocks. But I would feel bad buying it per character as sometimes I get tired of a character and ‘switch mains’ per se. I would feel I wasted money if I spent things on only one character. That to me is a bad investment, especially for the money involved for just a single bag unlock.

Jumping puzzles: yuck

Ralanost.8913

Jumping Puzzles are my favorite part of PvE. The last one they added in the Silverwastes was so cool: long, with beautiful landscapes, easy, a nice expedition to do with a friend.

The “Not So Secret” JP was also fun, in a head-banging kind of way. Unfortunately, I was not around when SAB was a thing. I hope it will return soon.

I absolutely hate the Sand Dune Caverns JP. It’s pretty hard to even tell if you are going in the right direction. I think I got close to the end, but I had no idea how to progress and after about 45 mins I gave up. I don’t like going through an area and having no idea if going up or down is the right way. Literally most of the time I had no clue if I was going the right way or not. If it wasn’t for the haste stations and the 3 chests I got, I would be certain I had gotten lost. But once I got to some wooden landings over a sand dune, I couldn’t figure out how to climb higher.

But overall, I play MMORPGs to explore, have fun and kill things. Yes, JPs can help with exploring, but I don’t find them fun and often if there are monsters there, they are only put there to harass you.

Time for Transgender NPCs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ralanost.8913

Ralanost.8913

I honestly don’t see a reason. This isn’t a mature game. Our characters never encounter sex. They don’t even have sexual organs. You can make feminine looking guys, you can make masculine women. You can RP your character however you like. But visually nothing needs to change. Do they need to put this into a characters story to be inclusive? I don’t think so. I don’t see this as common in a fantasy/medieval setting. They usually have more important things to worry about than gender identity. Like getting food on the table or not dying to bandits or wild monsters.

I have nothing against it, but from a story and lore standpoint, I don’t feel the game needs to change at all.

The female humans have secondary sexual organs – pretty sure we’re supposed to assume they also have primary ones?

I don’t think there is any need for sexual themes in this game, but marriages aren’t supposed to just be about sex.

The point is, if a Sylvari female, for example, called you over and said her wife had gone missing in the forest and could you help find her, would that be so bad?

I’m straight and it doesn’t bother, or threaten, me.

If I had kids, I wouldn’t think it would upset them, or turn them gay.

I don’t think you can be turned gay, anyway – you either are, or you aren’t (or you’re somewhere in between).

I think you can be given permission to be who you are, but that is a good thing, surely?

If this was about anything else, we would (hopefully) want our kids to realise they could be themselves and not have to try to live a lie.

I think you are getting transgender characters and same sex relationships mixed up. Those are completely different subjects.

Food? Not sure what you are talking about. Anyway, I only collected materials for my gears. That’s it, I didn’t grind for anything else.

Cycling through the inventory is the part that tests your skills. Two things, you are either calm enough in battle to cycle through it or you just can’t put too many stuffs in your bag (I normally use only sharpening stone, so I don’t even need to switch).

Flasks? I googled “Monster Hunter Flask” and I get only the flasks with Monster Hunter design. Again, I don’t understand. I am sorry.

Potions??? The one that recovery your HP? If you are using potions, you are doing it very wrong. One hit from the boss = mission fail for me. I don’t take hit. I dodge every single attack.

Combat buffs? I never used any consumable combat buffs.

Yes, you should focus on your character, not what you consume during fights. Ideally, you don’t even need to consume anything, except sharping stone.

Come on man, I clearly stated that some of the things you mentioned were from my World of Warcraft days. Please read thoroughly before replying.

As for S2 (for Mawdrey), how do I buy only 2 episodes? The only thing I see on the black lion is the whole season.

Thanks all! You’re getting my hopes back up!

Each chapter is 200 gems. The sale has all chapters for 320 gems. It would be silly NOT to go with the deal and get all chapters at once. The Twilight Arbor Aetherblade path is a dungeon. You need 4 more people willing to do it with you. It takes more effort than the average dungeon, but it does give slightly better rewards and is the only reliable method of getting spinal blades currently.

I am pretty sure you can not get all 8 chapters for 320 Gems. It is more along the lines of 1280 Gems for all 8 with the 20% discount.

Ah, didn’t notice it was adjusted based on what parts you own already. My bad. So for me personally it is just 320.

Yes it is annoying when dungeon groups do that hence why I only dungeon with my guild unless I am desp for tokens (extremely rare). Speed running dungeons in any MMO I find annoying, but GW particularly lacks basic mechanics to prevent it and as such, the culture you decribe applies.

As for MH. I tried. 2, 3 and 4. I really tried. Each time myself and my friend convinced ourselves there must be something about it to make it so popular. But the controls, just so hideous. Just utterly unsuited in every possible way to the game it was tied to. Each to their own though, I long since realised it just isn’t aimed at me and decided to leave it to those who appreciate it, Here in GW2, the ease of play is a breath of fresh air after a long day at work.

I have GW1 and TSW and some other games if I want a more challenging system to play. I think it’s refreshing GW2 has taken the approach that it has. And I don’t think they are yet anywhere near done unlocking its potential either.

Yeah, that is really annoying. I wish there are more new players.

Huh, another comment from someone that don’t like MH. That really surprised me.

No game is loved by everyone. Every game has players who hate it. Most players fall somewhere in the middle of love it and hate it.

And people read your long *post because you took the time to section it out. It wasn’t a huge wall of text.

I understand that, but MH is one exception. I have yet to hear any bad reviews about MH, until today. Anyway, I respect others’ opinion and that’s why I started this post, to see what others think.

I personally hate huge wall of text, so I did that. I want my readers to read them easily too.

I like how some other games handle action combat a bit better. There are a few things about MH that I just can’t stand. I hate consumables. I don’t find them worthwhile to gameplay. I don’t like wasting resources on them and I don’t like wasting time to gather for them or make them. MH is pretty consumable heavy. I also think MH movement is a bit too deliberate and slow. As ridiculous as some of the weapons are, it tries too hard to be realistic. It’s why I like TERA and Dragon Nest combat better. It’s faster and gives more freedom of movement.

That said, I appreciate what MH stands for and how it has inspired other games, but I like the games that are iterations on MH, not MH itself.

Consumable? I don’t remember using any consumables in MH. I love grinding materials to make new gears in MH. I like Tera and Dragon Nest combat too.

How can you play MH and not use consumables? You never use potions? Anti-toxins? Sharpening stones?

Now you mentioned it, I know what you mean by consumables. I didn’t play MH in English so I can’t link it when you say consumables.

I only use consumables (if I ever need to) provide by the mission, except sharpening stones, which I will buy from vendors. So, I have never actually “collected” them.

Don’t you need to collect stuff for recipes for the food at the city? Still, MH is VERY clunky how it handles consumables and having to cycle through your inventory mid combat to find what you need is silly. I guess I just got burnt out on consumables as an idea and a mechanic from early World of Warcraft days. You have to have flasks (expensive as sin), potions (for use in every important fight, in Vanilla there wasn’t a limit to one per fight so you just had to wait 2 mins before tossing down another), food buffs, reputation/world buffs (felwood plants) and anything else they could come up with like items to use for combat buffs. I would rather focus on my character than what my character is eating or drinking mid combat.

So, which back items CAN I get?

Spinal blades are still possible and so is Mawdrey. For mawdrey, you specifically need Dragonsreach parts 1 and 2 out of Living Story season 2. For the spinal blades, you can do the TA Aetherblade path or get some from the Aetherblade fractal. With that, you can use the MF to make more if you get sprockets from the pick or TP.
