nice video an excellent showcase of backpedaling. Should really help the warrior community out if you want to play warrior transfer to that guys tier and fight against the roleplay server they eat 100 hundred blades to the face like a baws.

I just posted it to show how the build works, didn’t mean that guy is the pr0ezt wuri0r in da gam3z.
Plus commands are really subjective; I personally laugh at any Warrior using WASD instead of managing movement with one button through gaming mice but that’s me.

Doesn’t banner regen only affect 5 ppl since a couple patches ago? Is 5 ppl considered a zerg now? Guess I’m really outta the loop now.

Banner “pulses” and applies regen to the 5 closest allies.
This means that regen will apply to other people if they are closer than someone else’s, effectively letting you buff a lot of people with it.
With boon duration runes you can effectively walk through a zerg and apply the regen to a lot of different people.

It does not automatically rez, it just heals for a certain amount.
If you use it on people with too low downed health it may just heal them to almost full downed health but not rez them.

Grind does not mean simple repitition, Grind specifically refers to content padding by leaving gaps within content that can only be reasonably approached by low-reward repeated behaviours.

That’s not the correct definition.
Grinding as a term was born from a coffee grinder image, aka repeating the same action over and over to get the coffee seeds into powder.

GW2 has done away with grind gating, and implemented time gating instead, aka the ability to only get a piece of something every 24 hours.
Is it better, worse? You be the judge.

But.
The fundamental problem is that some kind of gating must exist in order for a MMO to work, to not create major gaps between players and make content last longer.
If there is no gating, players will naturally grind what they need in the least amount of time possible – therefore being left with nothing to do and sitting here all day crying there is no endgame / nothing to do.
If you had a MMO you would make hell sure that this would never happen; gamers without goals are gamers that leave for another game.

I strongly believe that time gating is good in regards of progression; most people will get things equally as fast.
Maybe better forms will be created one day, but this is not that day.
This day we have the MMO panorama filled with grind gating, and GW2 based on time gating.
Pick your poison and have fun – or perhaps, create a new evolutive MMO with better mechanics, if you can think of any.

1. What purpose would it serve if Anet was lying to you? Personally, I don’t see any. Do you really think they go out of their way to let us talk to a dev? Thinking Anet is lying to you is a rather obtuse position to have.
2. What convinces you they are telling the truth or lying? If it’s based on your own personal observation, you should really re-evaluate your godly self-awareness. maybe I’m just talking out my rear end but I don’t think anyone’s personal observation is an accurate reflection of what’s happening in-game.

These two things are actually pretty common human behaviors.

Most people will create their own opinions on things they don’t know based on anecdotal data, assumption, logic or personal reasonment.
If they happen to meet a person who has said data in his hands and/or knows the matter at hand they will still be lenient to abandon their initial idea.

I work as a Paramedic in a hospital and this happens every day, all day.
People will zero knowledge of medicine come there with an opinion of what happened to them/their relatives – and regardless of what you tell them, they will still believe it’s what they think and that I haven’t looked deep enough.

The main issue with this is that most times you cannot prove a theory is wrong because:
- The data to prove it might be either inaccessible, lost or outdates thus ineligible for evidence.
- The data could be deemed as incorrect aka false positives or calculation mistakes

When one person has transformed an opinion into a fact inside his mind, there is no way you are changing his mind.
I think this behavior (of turning opinions gotten by reasoning without evidence turned into dogmatic fact) is possibly one of the most counterproductive things in the world; it creates a lot of mess starting from nothing at all.

Not to mention, this is a sloppery slope fallacy.
The OP assumes that the little revenue made by bots has somehow created a chain-effect that had major weight on the economy.

What if a button existed that could make your pet dodge roll, or gave it evasion for a few frames (no animation!) It could be called the “Dodge!” button

Is that something you guys could consider?
Ranger pets are switchable but for instance Necro ones go on cooldown when oneshotted by a boss.
It would be pretty good if dodging on a pet class also made the pet evade.

Fast, I’ll try to be nice to you and explain your current situation.

First off you cannot call “trolls” anyone who don’t agree with you, that is trying to discredit criticism by attacking the person and I believe it is even bannable by forum standards apart from being a fallacy.

Second, if you make a claim, you are the one to have to back it up; the burden of proof is onto you.
You made the bold claim that you are the best healer in the game vs all classes, then go to other classes forums and challenge them.
It’s like sitting in Italy and saying you are a better mechanic than all Greeks; the only way to prove it is to challenge Greeks directly.

Try going in the Guardian forum to say you heal more than them.
One will probably show a video of him healing bazillions per second and you’ll realize what these “trolls” are trying to say.

The one thing I can agree with you is, a full cleric Warrior is the best zerg healer as regen sticks to all people affected.
You need to realize some things though:
- being the best zerg healer doesn’t make you the best healer in all fields.
- in pvp regen is not the best way of protecting a team; since most damage comes in the form of burst, boons like Protection and Aegis negate a lot more damage than you could ever heal, and your regen won’t prevent a target from being spiked.
- in the same way you apply regeneration to a whole zerg, enemies apply poison to all your zerg (which reduces regen greatly) and other debuffs like burning that nullify regen completely, let alone boon stripping

Try to consider your setup in a most unbiased way – look at the upside and downsides, consider the pros and cons, etc.
Because in general, if you jump into a crowd yelling you’re the best X in the world you’ll pass off as very biased and arrogant.

That being said, I respect what you do in WvW, I wish more people would dedicate themselves to support people instead of randomly zerging around.

Idea to replace 3% damage in disc traitline

in Warrior

Posted by: Red Falcon.8257

Red Falcon.8257

I have an idea…

Problem:
Nobody use adrenaline because they lose 12%dmg 9%crit from full adren which leads to a major DPS loss.

Solution:
We make Brawn give an Enraged buff to the Warrior for 5s after hitting with a burst skill that gives 10% dmg 10% crit rate bonus.
In those 5 seconds you refill adrenaline so you reactivate your traits and there you go, no DPS loss.

The "mode switching" professions...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Red Falcon.8257

Red Falcon.8257

How do they make a static mode solid enough to stand alone without making those who efficiently switch between multiple modes not broken as hell?

It’s pretty easy actually, and in some cases already present in the game.
For instance Ele gets faster the more he’s attuned to air; similarly you can make a class get stronget at X the more time he’s been using X by simply slotting a trait that makes it happen just like Ele air trait.

I completely agree with OP btw.
The reason Ele has only 3 builds is because he can’t specialize into an Element.

Good design is having a player switch to a “stance” according to the situation.
Bad design is making a class only viable if switching constantly and spamming everything on each stance’s skillbar.

The way Ele plays currently is classic WoW “rotational” skill usage, which is a pretty bad way to play in a game based on reactionary combat.

The "Inspect Gear" Discussion.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Red Falcon.8257

Red Falcon.8257

The problem is that if you decline, you would still then get excluded based on the fact that you decline.

So what?
If I don’t want to be inspected in the first place, I don’t care if they don’t want me; I actually don’t want such people in the first place.

It’s the only way to make both happy.
Who wants to inspect can do it, who doesn’t can decline it.
Why must it be something you can force down other people to do? It seems to me there are other reasons behind it…

And to be completely honest.
Inspect would work IF we had a community of good builders that min/maxed proped builds for each class, like we did in GW1.
But now that people doesn’t exist anymore; the most common builds are terrible shout healing warriors, full DPS no defense guardians, generic weak staff eles, horrible staff necros, and don’t even get me started on rangers.

I don’t want one day to wake up and have the entire game require me to use a terribad build because most people can’t help but run those.

I have multiple guilds who die to have me as a side-representer and would pay me to transfer to their server even.

Is March patch really going to fix Culling?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Red Falcon.8257

The one thing i’ve learnt since launch is:
When ANet start talking in absolutes, I don my sceptic hat.

The game’s good, and has it’s major flaws besides it’s tech – Devs that are great with hyping up things, but fumble with execution in contrast.

I feel the opposite way.
So far when Anet gave absolutes they did it right.
Of course some people will think differently; some say the game requires grind when I have 3 80s fully geared without ever having grinded etc.
And I accept that; some people can only see one way (their way) of doing X, but Anet does X their way and objectively it sticks to what they said; subjectively, anyone can say anything and the opposite of anything.

The only big letdown I got from Anet is the extreme easiness of the open world; though they never promised otherwise so I can’t call them out on it.

Want to know a truth though?
I had some limited experience with developing and from what I’ve seen when people start doubting me and distrusting me I stop being enthusiathic and start seeing them as money bags.
That actually happens in all sectors actually, but I’m just saying.
Being continually criticized and distrusted leads a dev to be constantly defensive and lose enthusiasm about community, only thinking about money.
Trust is mutual, you can’t be a hater and expect love in return.

Advice on a guar-- Support Warrior

in Warrior

Posted by: Red Falcon.8257

Red Falcon.8257

shout healing unnoticeable? 3576 x5 people = 17880 total healing every 20s without any +healing used. Imagine if you stacked a couple shout wars.

Except it’s almost never really 3576 x5.

That only happens if:
- all people are in a 600 radius from you (very rare in fights that matter)
- all people are damaged; for every single person not damaged you “overheal” and need to remove 3576 from the total (this also happens a lot)
- nobody is poisoned
In real in-game scenarios shout healing average half the healing it does in theory, due to those big limitations.

Let alone that:
- You don’t have EP, thus your lasting power is greatly reduced, and you cannot tank mobs to prevent spikes that will instead go to your team (EP tanking Vet Wars in Ascalon for instance).
- You don’t have stability in any form.
- SIO steals conditions that proper support builds could convert to boons
- SIO is useless in scenarios where conditions are not present or ignoreable aka most of the endgame
- OMM is useless with Necro/Ranger in your team
- No Bolas to lockdown bosses
- No Banners so nothing of all those team buffs
- Your damage is half that of a DPS warrior

Downsides vastly overpower the small benefit of healing shouts.
It’s just a bit less useless than a signet build.

I personally do very fine with full zerker, don’t need armor rating as I use CDs/dodges/evade/block to avoid damage.
I would just kitten myself on such a build; I tried it but all I get is a slight difference in lasting power and a major difference in damage.

To each his own tho.
If you do better on that setup all power to you.

Enough GS zerker Warriors

Red Falcon.8257

Just checking… anyway, going back to topic… I’m not going to say if Axe of GS deals more damage or what… Topic started stating Zerk GS Warriors are pretty much the average Joe of the game… which is quite correct. Some of us defended other weapons as viable builds as well.

I don’t know yet why people make such an effort to do the max amount of damage, like if this game was only about that. There are many things to be considered in a succesful character not just how much damage he deals. If I have someone who can play excelent in my group, I’d rather have him using an hybrid build with either support or CC instead of pure numbers. I prefer a good player who can save someone from being downed rather than someone who can kill 10% faster. At the end, boss fights are always long. I prefer a group that has enough synergy to do it easily than a group that is competing who has the biggest damage and can’t help a mate in troubles.

That’s what I think too.

Your overall efficiency is a combination of your damage, damage reduction, health, healing, and other tools to survive.
Because let’s remember that a dead Warrior deals zero DPS, and leaves the team in a sticky situation where they lost their main source of DPS and they need to risk their life to rez you.

My build’s focus is on getting more healing in order to not die/stay in the fight, while not giving up big DPS.
As I see it, builds that go “full” out damage with zero defense and builds that go full tank with zero attack are both equally risky and inefficient, a build that does both is better.

Honestly if I’m about to run Frac 46 I’m taking a balanced Warrior over a full zerker with 13% damage reduction that does nothing else than spam HB+WA and retreat to use LB.

I believe both PvE dungeons and WvW offer major amounts of fun.
sPvP is not my thing (I don’t like the very limited customization of PvP chars) but others might find it fun too.

If you already played everything then only a good Guild or players in general can increase the longevity (unless you want some legendaries or min/max).
The fun of this game comes from playing with other people, as a single player GW2 doesn’t have much more longevity than any single player out there.

I also dont think playing a single class is enough.
I find myself playing with one of my 80s for a few weeks/months then doing the same on another 80 etc.
I’m even considering raising a new 80 but I’m still endgaged by my current ones so I keep procastrinating :p

Wow so many posts let me try answer everyone…

Hi. I’ve found your build really nice and im fed up with standing one place for 3.5secs and being really upset for every mob move, but i dont understand how does lifestealing works.

Do you use Omnomberry Ghost? It’s the food that gives you 66% chance to lifesteal.
WA deals 15 hits, (66%15)340 = 3k life stolen per mob you hit, aka 15k health stolen on 5 mobs.

I thought the build was very nice and well done. Just a question, why not Divinity Runes? I feel like the sacrifice of 24 Precision and 60 power is worth the other positives that you would get out of it, aside from the fact it appears you have bank.

The GS build that someone posted a couple replies below the OP was very refreshing as well. It actually had Vitality and other traits built into it instead of being full glass. It is people thinking outside the box of only full zerker being viable that gives me hope that people will respect me as a Warrior instead of expecting full glass GS when I run a dungeon.

Personally, I run tanky dps on almost everything I build so, while this probably isn’t the build for me, it is a breath of fresh air compared to the norm. Honestly, the post title saying “enough zerker warriors” is pretty on track with how many people continue to defend GS as the only option insist on flaming him for Axe/Axe being more appropriate for the in-game situation that HE encounters personally. I’ve got my own high dps GS/Hammer spec I’ve been meaning to make, but that’s because I am a WvW player. So from a PvP perspective, your logic seems to be very sound, especially since, in PvP, I rarely see good GS warriors ever use HB so I understand the problem with being rooted vs mobility for your burst attacks, especially since it cleaves so you don’t have the benefits of it being targeted (see Thief Backstab/HS).

Also, anyone that ever says L2P because someone thinks differently than them is a kitten and should probably be ignored for the pure ignorance that they convey.

Divinity runes are also a good choice, yes.
Or boon duration runes if one wants to keep the bonus from SoR up permanently (lots of people understimate this, SoR equals to 175 power 400 precision not flavor sutff).

And yes I got fed up with people bashing anything outside GS full zerk builds.
They should seriously stop trying to force everyone in that bad spec that only works in easymode content (CoF1 really?).

Where do you get Cavalier items?

Cavalier Amulet is from Laurel Vendor.
Cavalier Rings from Fractals or Exotic versions from Tacticians that spawn in temple of balthazar when completed.
Cavalier Earrings (exotics) are from again Tactician that spawns in temple of balthazar after you kill balthy priest.
Cavalier backpiece is from Fractals (capacitator).

There are probably other Cavalier items out there but I’m not aware of them as of now.

I’ve never seen a guardian outlast me, never. As I never seen a defensive guardian deal as damage as I deal. I don’t play heal, go to the Near Invincible Warrior thread where I attached a screenshot of my stats. I already got 7 PMs asking me for my build (and I’m happy to provide other options than the usual dps warrior to other players) so it seems it appeals more people than you make think.

I go Axe/Shield and Hammer (bow for WvW). I have 2 twirl combo, 2 leap combo and 2 blast combo (Battle Banner and Hammer burst) plus 4 CC skills to remove defiant and cause CC my self and even if more CC is needed I can switch to mace instead of axe and have even more but that would put me in a heavily tank position and I don’t think thats neccesary (with certain exceptions).

Like I said, I don’t need to chase mobs, nor I need to use ranged weapons. I stay melee and dps the whole thing where other GS warriors can’t, specially when they have to be constantly dodging and I just stand, face tank, receive and regen HP back up.

I feel a lot of those GS zerkers understimate the DPS increase you get from not needing to kite after you’ve been hit twice.
The time a zerker warrior is dodging away and kiting because he’s put down to 2k health from 2 hits is time he’s dealing low DPS (LB/Rifle is not good DPS, any melee is twice/thrice our ranged DPS).

Even a tanky build can have 5000 effective power, like this build.
It allows you to -stay- in combat and actually deal your FULL dps instead of “lolol I hit 25k HB but then I roll away almost dead and switch to low DPS ranged”.

Definitely dont let anyone tell you that you’re forced to build full zerker to maximize DPS, it’s simply false as we proved here.

- Where is our Utility in WvW or SPvP?

We down a few people quick and leap away, give offensive buffs etc.

- Do any of the following utilities anger you in some manner: Throw Bolas, Bull’s Charge, Berserker Stance, Kick, Stomp, Banners, Shouts? If you have a real grievance about one of them want to talk about it?

Bolas, Bull and Rush need to be fixed as they fail by bug a lot of times.
Wether it is “obstructed” on Bolas, Bull/Rusj ending beyond your target or not hitting at all, it’s all bugs.
Bugs that have been around for 5 months, tons of threads asking for fixes, zero replies from Anet.

- What about our elite abilities? Seriously, do any of them really match up to any other profession?

SoR and Banner are fine but Rampage is the worst elite in the game.

- What do you suppose is the likelihood of Arenanet potentially solving any of the bugs for Warriors?

Very low. They don’t even bother posting here at all.
Other classes’ forums have Anet posts talking about class issues, we’re abandoned instead.
All threads complaining the same bugs – ZERO answers.

I pretty much gave up with asking fixes and being completely ignored, I just got used to co-exist with bugs.

What about the hits you eat, that don’t bring you down instantly ? I’d say, that toughness or vitality to sustain one ore two more hits before you have to roll out of combat, allows you to hit the enemy one ore two times more, and with that, provide additional damage.

In other words, a player can go full GC, but he will have to dodge more often, and spend more time withdrawing, dealing zero damage.

Maybe there is a middle ground for maximum damage in the maths ?

Exactly what I was saying.
I throw two 20k dmg HB with another 15k worth of attacks in between then whirl away with 9k whirl = total dmg 64k.
A normal glass cannon throws one 21k HB, throws 10k worth of damage before whirling away for 10k whirl = total damage 41k.

Staying power is underrated.

Except 40+ fract isn’t CoF1 ezmode OP. A full zerker team will go down.
So you either go with a full zerk team and a Guardian who usually gives you permanent 33% DR/healing, or you go with a balanced team that isn’t all zerk.
Also:
1) You don’t want to go full-out insert stat.
You get to a point when min/maxing where you either pick 5% more damage or 20% more damage reduction; it’s pretty inefficient to pick the 5% damage in terms of your overall efficiency.
2) I’m tired of hearing people justifying their full zerk with “but I dodge”. You cannot dodge everything. The game gives you a lot more damage than you can dodge in high-end fract, so I prefer a guy who deals 5% less damage (which has little impact on the final outcome) but 20% more damage reduction.
3) Min/maxing is awesome. On a Warrior for instance through min/maxing you can get:
50% damage reduction while still sitting on 4500 effective power.
30% while sitting on 5500 E.Power.
13% while sitting on 6000 E.Power.
In hard content the 13% Warrior is going down without Guardian regardless of his skills (unless he kites a lot at which point he’s dealing a ton less damage), the other two don’t.
This means classic zerker loses all 25 stacks and stops dealing damage while the other 2 keep dealing it (or rezzing the dead and avoiding a wipe).
4) While dodging/kiting to avoid damage because your DR is too low to stay in the fight, you’re dealing very low DPS than you would by staying in the fight and dealing full DPS.
Full zerker with 0 defense means you’re forced to disengage/dodge/kite and thus lose all the mega DPS that you gained. Full zerker with Cavalier trinkets means you’re staying in the fight and DPSing at your full power all the time.

To me it seems people try the easy dungeons or lower fracts with full zerkers, see it works and then think it can work anywhere.
Well, it can’t.

There you go. There is a specific guide to go with it, but that is what I run. Keep in mind that this is WvW and I am maximizing my DPS while traiting for shout heals, hammer cooldowns, and higher survivability.

You got 700 less power and 400 less armor than my build above on your “tanky” setup :p
You need to min/max better imo.

I maximize my damage while having a lot of tanky stats. Your opinions on Warrior likely have you run mostly offensive stats with a great sword and something like dual axes with Knight’s Armor and Berserker Trinkets, which is not “tanky”, not to mention the entire premise of your argument involves running GS, which locks you into going AT LEAST 20 points into Arms and, very likely, 20 points into strength as well. 20k health on a warrior is ridiculously low. You have the luxury of stacking less health than other classes are forced to, but high health and high armor are never a bad thing. I consider my dps to be pretty good despite my tanky stats and I’d love to know what you consider “average” crit chance or crit damage to be on what you consider to be a “tanky” build. The high base armor and high base health hardly make up for the fact that you are mainly a MELEE class without adding to both of those stats.

So yes, if you are running a Greatsword with offensive traits and offtank (Knight’s/Valkyrie’s) armor/trinkets, maybe even with some Berserker’s stuff, your offensive stats will be better than a “tanky” build because that build is not tanky…

*It is worthy of noting that I am a WvW player, so my Warrior experience stems from there.

Why don’t you simply post your setup through this site: http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/warrior/
You can see how much effective your setup is there.
Normally zerky Warriors have around 5500 to 6000 effective power, figure out yours and do a percentage comparison so you’ll know for sure how much is the DPS difference from your setup and the standard one.

One good thing about Warriors is the crazy amount of Precision we get, which we can sacrifice for Toughness without losing much DPS.
For instance if I was to go “full tank” I’d go like this: http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/warrior/?8|7.1c.h1.e.1c.h1e|0.0.0.0.0.0|1g.a7.1g.a7.1g.a7.1g.a7.1g.a7.1g.a7|2v.d1c.2v.d1c.3v.d1c.1i.61.1i.61.2v.d1c|k5a.0.u29b.0.k65|2e.1|e

3500 armor, 20k health and yet still 250% crit dmg and 2500 power so I would still be critting 20k HB, 14k killshots, 12k evis and whatnot while sporting 3500 armor.
That’s the good of min/maxing, no need to hit like a rabbit to go tanky.

I can survive a lot better with a GS than with an axe.

What you can do is up to you and you alone.
What everyone can do is up to what a setup can mathematically do, and the person’s ability with said setup.

WA heals 3k per mob hit every 20s, which equates to 150hp/s per mob.
If you play it out properly you’re getting 750hp/s from just WA, plus the 360 degree lifestealing from Cyclone, double lifesteal proc from Dual Strike and then normal lifesteals – all this prolly adds up to 1000hp/s or more.
GS’s only defensive tool is one single evade.
So it’s 1000 health/second vs 1 evade… Math aready gave its answer.

Your preference toward one setup doesn’t make another setup less valid.
It’s flawed to think that since you are better off with one thing then everyone else should be doing the same.
That’s one thing you should really really think about.
Other people can be as good as you or even much better than you with very different setups than yours.

Furthermore, just because you can’t see beyond your own build it doesn’t mean other people cannot play or, again, be even better than you with different builds than yours – or mine, for that matter.

Really, realize that trying to force everyone to follow your GS+LB setup is stupid.
GS+LB isn’t the end-of-all builds, not even by far. It is for you? Fine. Have fun with it.
Just don’t come spitting on other people’s playstyles.

With the number of people screaming out “learn to play” as their main argument, I have to ask why anyone even cares enough to take this kind of debate so seriously. Who the hell cares what another player chooses to use for weapon? Does it influence you or something?

There is some people who wear blinkers and think that since they prefer a certain setup, then their setup is better than everything else – regardless if other setups are mathematically better.

You’re probably right that taking such people seriously isn’t the best thing.

The problem with these suggestions is that since it replaces SoR you lose the 5might/fury/swiftness.

I vote for good old “Watch yourself!” .
Gives swiftness (40s), Aegis (15s) and Protection (6s) to allies, 60s CD.
You lose the 175 power (5might) 400 precision (fury) from SoR, but gain Aegis and Protection which also affects your team.

Kinda sad to see some people took this thread as a “free-for-all bash-on-Anet royal rumble tournament of complaining” and didn’t waste this opportunity to bash on them.
The coder who did this mistake is probably sailing in bad seas in the office, while the maker of 0/10 kill ten rats dailies is taking a coffee at the Anet machine planning more 0/10 stuff nobody dared to say anything because hey – there was a pink item for reward
