So far it seems like overall 8 players out of 10 do not want level cap increase.
Hopefully Anet caters to the majority.
Outside of CoF, my zerker warrior is still able to perform incredible feats. Not only do I provide the highest DPS in the game, but I bring 3 different versions of a Might buff to my team, provides team wide fury, provides a fire field for blast finishers, removes conditions of allies, and has even tanked bosses.
It’s fine that you don’t like GS zerker warriors, but don’t disregard the fact that zerker warriors are some of the highest and most efficient DPS in the game right now that still provides great group buffs.
Your opinion is probably skewed because you’ve ran into players who can’t manage to stop being tunnel vision, not because they are zerker warriors.
No I played zerker GS to the death.
Simply put, dealing 5% more DPS in a situational stationary fight using the most boring skillset in the game and 13% damage reduction stopped being fun or interesting and I found a more effective setup.
GS full zerker is one setup.
There are other ways to play that are as or more effective, simple as that.
I made this for those who are tired or don’t like GS zerking boredom
There isn’t one build or setup that is best in every situation, this one has different purposes and goals than GS zerking, while still being a classic fully offensive megaDPS machine of death.

It’s a problem Anet needs to fix somehow.
Simply make kick require votes equal to number of party members minus one, and that if team maker quits others won’t leave fractals.
Blocking when you revive someone isn’t a tactical support move?
Yup, and that was actually a good suggestion.
But the other one that would give you damage reduction is something that would fit Defense, not Tactics.
I’m also not sure you realize how much 3% damage reduction per boon is, mathematically.
3% dmg reduction equals to about 80 toughness.
This means you’d be getting 400 toughness, on a Warrior who usually has 20k health and 2500 armor on average, by simply self-buffing yourself with SoR and another boon (vigor is pretty easy to get).
Using Lyssa runes you’d hit +720 toughness for about 9 seconds every 48.
Now that would be a bit OP considering we easily touch 30% base damage reduction without losing almost any DPS.
I doubt we’ll ever get any form of “Protection” on Warriors unless it’s a skill (we still have to get Watch Yourselves! shout), Anet doesn’t seem to think we need it.
If I had to aim at defense I’d target Block mechanics, since we have so many traits that also benefit from blocking and it seems Anet believes it’s a Warrior-ok mechanic.
No.
It would be bad design like +stats on ascended and 0/20 fetch quests dailies.
But after the aforementioned happened, I just expect anything at this point, it seems the whole “anti traditional MMO” propaganda was just marketing jargon in the end and on a PvE perspective we’re getting exactly what GW2 was never said to have, including level cap raises and who knows what.
Maybe I’m a bit pessimist, but it might be realism.
Well, Silent, you might consider they may have a point.
I mean, you keep spamming double and triple posts in your thread as if you’re desperately hoping to get some attention with this.
You keep saying your series is popular but I don’t see any of this popularity here nor in any other GW2 place, even the videos… your best only has 9k views (my very random uploads on YT got the same amount).
Just pretending you’re famous doesn’t make everyone automatically fanboize you madly.
But I do appreciate fractal gameplays nonetheless, could be useful to new people.
No kiting needed full melee, why increase the the fight duration leading to more chances of mistakes happening.
How do you exactly “full melee” a boss spamming you with 20k hits?
I can’t wait you to show me a video of that.
I really hope so, I miss Crystal Desert too.
But I believe before adding any new zone, after the lost shores fiasco, they will need to make a system that keeps new maps interesting and populated first.
My money is that it is one of those things devs say “uh whatever we’ll change this later, now let’s focus on…” during development but then it remains like that.
Procastrinating until it’s too late is built-in the genetics of every dev in the world.
Does a good job at reminding me it’s just a game when I, uh, immerse myself in GW2 too much.
The wake-up call used to be my gf but she’s even more addict than me now.

Tactics is a support tree.
Your suggestion are oriented towards self-protection, which is something of the Defense tree. Tactics is not meant to be for self defense and will never be.
Tactics is for -proper- support Warriors, or -bad- Paladin wannabes who think throwing away all utilities and damage for healing 1.2k per shout is the way to go.
I’m not saying you’re one of the latter, but in case you are call the “For great healing!” support group and let them cure you of paladin wannabeness.
(edited by Red Falcon.8257)
There is no such thing OP.
Every situation has a weapon or two that perform best in it, but no weapon performs better than all others in every situation.
Axe/Axe and LB will best anything in 360 degrees AoE situations.
GS will best anything vs stationary targets.
Rifle will best anything for 1200 range single target/line DPS/burst.
Hammer / Maces will best anything when CC is needed to avoid wipes.
Swords will best anything at condition damage and mobility.
Shield / Warhorn will best anything at defense/support.
Sure you could be a slacker and go mono/due weapons, or you could have saved the wipe that time your team needed CC to prevent up-front spiking and you had no hammer, or that other time you needed to attack that tower in WvW but you only had the Rifle and LB was still a mistery to you.
Changing the trait “Mobile Strikes” on that build seems to drop the “effective power” by a fair number when using that calculator, which is a bit puzzling. I’m a bit unsure of how this is actually calculated?
Effective Power is calculated taking into account your crit rate and crit damage as well.
It’s your total power considering crits, non crits and crit dmg, much like Effective Health Points calc.
And since Heightened Focus adds 9% crit rate, if you dump it you’re getting a DPS loss.
HFocus equals to about 200 Precision worth of points, pretty much like 20 points into arms.
Not sure what people expects from Zaithan.
It’s a big dragon, you kill him with cannons.
You expected to stick a pointy thing in his mouth or something?
It’s just a boss of the story, it plays a role, it’s not created for “ubermegaminmax progamerz to have the largest difficulty ever attainable in the gaming industry”, it’s for everyone including poor shout healing wammos and frontal crossfire rangers.
It’s a process used by the in-game minibrowser aka the TP.
It won’t destroy your computer, that is a job for all the bloatware you have installed.
Chances are the people who stuck around on the forums are the people who like gear progression and endlessly increasing numbers, so I kind of expect a lot of “go home noob” and “do you want gear just handed to you!?!??” (yes).
I actually hate infinite stat progression, and didn’t like the stat increases, but I have to admit the way Anet implemented Ascended isn’t so bad.
They made ways to get it outside fractals and soon ways to get it with WvW, probably even more ways later.
Plus, after getting my Ascended set I guarantee you it doesn’t really make a factor in pvp.
The only thing that will matter will be weapons due to damage range being a larger factor in the direct damage formula.
But if you quit GW2 over this I wonder where did you go.
Other MMOs offer far, far worse formulas and are made with obsolete, childish mechanics.
I could never go back to play games with pidgeon-holing after I’ve been let be a tank, healer and DPS on the same char and at the same time.
I could never give up dodging/blocking with my real skills rather than it being a RNG calculation.
I could never look at a tank spamming the aggro rotation and gather all mobs while a healer refills him and not feel like that is ridiculous.
Let alone monthly fees, haha.
If I was to quit GW2 I think I’d stick to single players for a long, long time, because before we see a MMO with half the goodness of GW2 it’ll be years.
If the price to pay was a tier between exotics and legendaries then be it.
tired of people preaching the same old full berserker 916 toughness builds, even in PvE so this is good to see.
I think his precision is fine where it is, the critical chance includes the trait heightened focus. I probably would like at least 21k HP in my build but that is just me, but for me my build is mostly built for PvP.
He probably could go 30 into strength, but I think he was looking more for the uptime on his signets and fast hands (at least in my case) is something I cannot imagine myself not having.
Although expensive, and provides slightly less DPS than ruby orbs, runes of divinity are a great way to round out a build imo, although probably not necessary for PvE
I tried 30 str but it’s a DPS and Effective Power loss – even if you get the 10% crit dmg trait.
It’s probably because of Attack of Opportunity being a major DPS increase (let alone last stand / furious).
I agree with fast hands btw.
Once you go FH you can’t go back :p even H.Focus is great due to major crit increase.
Have you extensively tested this or was it a theory you just put into practice?
Yes and with major success, it revived the class for me, now I can do things I couldn’t before without Endure Pain.
It’s only possible since the introduction of Cavalier gear, before we didn’t really have a choice (Valkyrie sucks on Warrior).
You basically trade a little DPS (very little really, still hitting 10-11k evis, 14k killshot etc) for more than doubling your damage reduction.
Plus A/A healing is OP, on 1 mob you heal about 3k with WA on multiple ones you refill your health completely.
Let alone that most times your WA will be frenzied by Last Chance so it lasts 1.75s only while 100B isn’t affected by haste that triggers during the channel; same goes for other A/A attacks.
Admittedly, it takes some time to get geared for this.
Cavalier amulet is only from laurel/fractal I think, Cavalier earrings 42k karma each from Temple of Balthazar NPC, rings are Rurik/Adelbern rings from Fractals, as for the back I use ascended capacitator (1800 frac relics).
But it’s definitely a major step up from classic zerker.
I’m a little confused because my GS build is greater in all areas except for crit damage and power with perma fury that isn’t shown and this is for w3 not fractals.
Have you really infused every single ascended item with 5/5 though? That just seems like a crazy waste of money.
So far I’m 3/5 with that, still working on it.
I’m about 10 power away from the build shown in the builder – but honestly versatile infusions aren’t really needed, 10 power is nothing on a char with 5500 effective power.
It’s just a min/max “ultimate” template.
So there is no strategy? Simply kite and dodge until you starve of endur and die, rinse and repeat.
Quite bad boss design honestly, all other bosses have interesting mechanics but this one is just gimmick.
Dodge before he hits you with it. If you cant handle the difficulty then dont go that high, take your own signatures advice.
Dodges have a limit, and it’s not difficulty to be spammed with 20k hits, it’s gimmick.
Shooting a dog with an automatic rocket launcher isn’t really giving him “difficulty”, just giving him no choice but die.
Any real answer?
OP you failed to understand that in this game there is no specific pidgeon-holing because we all play all roles.
You are the tank, the healer and the DPS at the same time.
Go ahead and show me a fractal 30 without your team dodging, healing and using defensive CDs, just pure DPS team.
That, is a “DPS only” team, and it wouldn’t work.
Simply put all classes have built-in 3 roles.
It’s not just DPS all classes also heal through 6/regen and tank through defensive CDs.
You want a game where every player has only 1 role instead of 3?
Traditional MMOs are that way —->
We have so many of them, why trying to turn the only game that lets you be all roles into another pidgeon-holing fest?
(edited by Red Falcon.8257)
All I can think to say to the OP is speak for yourself.
This.
Stop starting threads with “we”, your thread is your opinion so forward it as such.
We will then see if it’s representative of a big amount of people or not.
I don’t want more loot, it just creates inflation.
We already have ways like CoFSC to make 30g/day, we don’t need more.
Also I have yet to see proof of “permanent DR”, until then I rest my case that it’s just some people blaming poor loots on external factors because they can’t accept it’s RNG.
Sometimes I run a fractal 20 and get all blues/greens, other times I run frac 10 and get 4 rares 2 exotics and a pink ring at the end.
It’s random number generator.
Just a quick post how am I supposed to avoid his continuous 20k dmg oneshot spamming (very good design btw…) without a Guardian?
I tried immobilize spam but he will just stealth and spam-happy oneshot cheese gimmick again.
All I need is a reason to go back to all Tyria because really the world is awesome but we need to be pushed to visit it all day not just to quickly complete some measly daily.
Visiting Tyria should be rewarding at all levels, it shouldn’t become outdated at lvl 80 and be locked into instances.
Locking people into instances at cap lvl is so 1990.
And build variety, for Balthazar’s sake.
(edited by Red Falcon.8257)
Outside CoF (which is easy and stationary), GS zerking isn’t really good let’s face it.
Most fights won’t be stationary, most fights won’t be just 180 degrees, most fights can’t be done safely with a measly 13% damage reduction.
You might do 5% more damage than the following build, but only in a perfect situation where all mobs sit in your cone all the time and you somehow never need to roll away.
In other situations you’re just losing DPS to this and have half the damage reduction/healing of this.
This build has 5500 effective power which is extreme crazy damage, but 30% damage reduction instead of 13% and insane amounts of life stealing through lifesteal (WA can heal up to 15k health in 3 seconds) and more DPS than cookie-cutter GS due to continuous Evis spamming, adren coming back to full in a second plus 360 degree DPS that doesn’t lock you in place.
In high fractals such as colossus double seal you could slowly HB 2-3 mobs or kill the whole lot of 8 while regaining health from all the damage they’re doing and thus covering your team from such damage.
Vs bosses you have a lot more lasting power in melee due to lifesteal and damage reduction, therefore more DPS and more covering of your team.
I converted to this and I’m not looking back to my old pure zerker.
The addition of Cavalier gear made full melee a lot more viable especially when combined with lifesteal stacking, it’s really not worth it anymore to go full zerker imo.
Have fun.
Yeah, I do that too.
What I had in mind is, judging on reaction times of people sieging keeps and towers when I start blasting them with staff from the walls, as a warrior I could go with Bow/Rifle with Improved Bowstrings, pop frenzy and unload bow for high AoE burst, then switch to rifle and ruin someone’s day, duck back in when they start to return fire.Could be interesting. With that much potential damage, I am surprised more warriors are not using such combos when sieging/defending. Use it the other way around, frenzy, killshot/volley to down a squishy, then bow AoE on top of them to finish them off and possibly down anyone trying to rezz them.
For some reason I barely ever see warriors using bows in sieges. And when they do use them, they are not very good with them.
Well LB isn’t really that strong in terms of burst.
Combustive pulses about 1.5-2k dmg every 2s for 10s, Arcing is 7k and then you’re done for the next 10s.
You’re hardly killing someone with this, but it’s indeed a nice 10k AoE burst on walls.
When you are defending walls it’s much better to use death from above (trait) and knock them out continuously, it also knocks people off siege (i.e. rams they might be using on doors).
Or you could frenzy a 100b into a group for 20k damage, now that’s burst… if you can set it up that is.
Thanks for your help, though some info was incorrect:
No armor or weapons are current obtainable with this stat set.
The TP has a lot of Cavalier weapons, even happened to loot some myself in Fractals.
No armor with those stats tho.
Bow isn’t exactly your go-to for ranged megadamages, Arcing hits for 7k for me.
I use bow a lot but what I do is throw Combustive shot and Arcing in the mobs, then jump in and deal melee DPS so it all sums up to about supermegahyperdamage in the end.
If you want just raw ranged DPS go with Rifle and dont forget your sigil of rage.
Volley+Killshot can easily crit for 25k total dmg on mobs lined up, auto hits for 1.2-1.4k+bleeds too.
Warrior is a class that has a weapon for every situation.
Need AoE DPS? Bow, dual Axe.
Need control? Hammer, Mace.
Need single target ranged domoges? Rifle.
Need mobility and burst? GS it is.
Need immob, mobility and contidions? Swords it is.
You can’t expect to own a single weapon and rule all Tyria.
You can be one of those Warriors running 3 fractals with GS alone or you could use the best weapon for each situation.
I have a whole bag just for my weapon swaps lol.
TL;DR Learn to play and stop wasting time whining.
Banners should be worn on the back of warriors like sashimono. This would allow banner warriors to fulfil their role infinitely better and add mobility to a very static build that is lacking. The utility bars on the banners really quite meh in my opinion. Freeing the hands would not even remotely make the build overpowered and allow more a lot more variety.
I agree with this.
Simply make the “adren” skill on banners something that lets you “equip” them on your back.
Eles are getting nerfed soon, Anet said.
Warrior just needs fixes really, and some un-doing of knee-jerk nerfs (I’m looking at you, Brawn and Eviscerate range).
I’m still wondering why can’t Ele simply be a good ranged caster.
Ele isn’t meant to melee lets face it, with low health and armor to survive in melee he needs OP tools such as the current mega-healing bull.
Just give this class high ranged AoE damage as it’s supposed to be, most Eles outside sPvP play that way anyways.
If sPvP needs a melee build then Anet split those freakin’ skills.
I’m sorry for you guys but until Anet decides to do a proper skill splitting of all skills in the game I doubt we’ll ever see balance.
To get a 100% balance they would even need to make a split for WvW which works differently from sPvP and PvE and therefore needs different skills too.
But hey, we’re getting Keg Brawl! <facepalm>
I’m using the third build you posted, in a haste-stacking version, with full zerker gear except cavalier trinkets and sigil of rage. It works wonders.
15.5% of the time I’m dealing double DPS, things go down a lot faster compared to classic zerker builds.
Red Lighter I*m aware that warriors have flaws (and i have not claimed otherwise) much like all other classes and before posting i would appreciate if you read the hole post even the last rows.
Lighter: That is a bit weird : )
I read that, but what you’re saying is clearly “a Warrior oneshot me with rifle in WvW, plz remove rifle from the game”, and it’s a stupid statement.
Nothing is balanced in WvW, any class can surprise you with a mega burst while you’re doing something else, you gotta deal with it.
Also, ignore this.
Nah the guy has a point.
To be “viable” even a shout healing wammo with no healing power is “viable”.
But ultimately a pure condition build isn’t going to match the DPS of a raw damage one with the current state of conditions in PvE given the low dmg of conditions and stack limit, even more so in PvP when you factor in condition removal.
Your average direct damage Warrior is sitting on 8k DPS, condition Warrior even with mightstacking reaches half that amount.
It’s viable, but it makes you half a DPS Warrior sadly.
From a pvp perspective we have the most UP downed skills.
Unlike other classes we have zero AoE rupt so there is no way to prevent a stake like Guardian/Thief/Mes/Ele can do.
Vengeance takes too long to activate you’re lucky if you get to do it in 1vs1 but most times you can’t get it off.
It’s a myth that Warriors have no flaws, try playing one.
We have little condition removal unless specifically specced (in which case we lose a lot of other things).
We have little lasting power because high health/armor matters little in GW2 unlike much more powerful defensive tools (stealth, clones, ele’s self healing, necro DS).
Also rifle is pretty bad unless you target unaware people.
This thread sounds a lot like “I just got pwned in WvW by killshot” complaint that will get nowhere.
Fractal is fun until you get 2 guildies kicking a whole team on last fractal.
Dungeons are fun until lvl 80 after which they’re too easy to be fun.
Open world is fun until DR kicks in and you get zero loots.
WvW is fun until nightcapping takes over your entire zone.
GW2 is a lot of fun, but it all comes with some flaws that can ruin it.
The trinity in 2013 is terribly lazy design and poor coding.
It’s simply outdated to rely on 2 members taking care of all damage and everyone else DPSing.
Give up trinity-wanters it’s not going to happen, GW2 wasn’t born to be yet another wow clone with gimmicky dungeon design.
Being kicked and losing 1 hour of gameplay is really the worst harassment/griefing existing in all MMOs.
You touted GW2 as griefing-free then make that kicking require 4 confirms already.
You are ruining everyone’s experience by letting players kick a whole team in two people.
I made support tickets, no results beside promised that it will change.
No punishments for abusers, nothing.
It needs to go Anet make it happen.
I agree with all, OP.
I just wish we could get more skills or skill runes like d3 because characters can become really boring as they are always using the exact same setups.
More skills/elites/weapons or at least mods for the existing skills.
Anything to get out the current build stagnation.
you can build your warrior balanced to absorb a lot of damage and still deal a lot DPS
on my warrior i got following stats . ( i regen 360 hp /second cause healing signet /adrenal heal) and i restroe 352 hp/crit/target food 450 from sigil (2 sec CD).
Critical chance also go over 48 % with food/ 68 % with furry.
I can pull hb over 20k damage on low defence on wvwvw.
but since you sayed he used axe +axe is very posible that you got hit by an eviscerate by 12k damage or even more since your gear is not full exotic
What gear/traits did you use?
Disagree with the S tier.
Ele is S just due to D/D broken which will be fixed then he’s back to A.
Guardian is S why?
Everything else seems spot on; Engi needs a major buff, Necro/Ranger need a buff.
Wearing 2h is simply a double flaw because you get -1 sigil and can’t swap your offhand to get more desiderable skills.
In return you get… nothing.
It isn’t true that 2H has “more damage”; damage of skills depends largerly on skill coefficients.
I.E. Guardian 2h staff deals less damage than 1h scepter for instance.
There are so many fixes we still need 5 months later and they’re coding keg brawl as we navigate in half-done features and bugged skills/traits…
55hp monk.
Seriously tho, anything is good with anything as long as they don’t overwrite each other’s roles.
His opinion doesn’t mean so much as the presentation of said opinion. I personally don’t like the idea of adding traditional quests, yet I feel like many in this thread are saying his opinion simply doesn’t matter. Who’s opinion DOES matter then? We have to give credence to something besides the developers who are not infallible and have a different perspective than any given player. While maybe not this idea, good ideas are to be supported. The phrasing by some of you make it like no idea should ever be rallied behind and we should all chaotically post our own ideas that can individually never get any recognition.
TLDR. World feels empty, but traditional quests are not the answer.
I don’t believe traditional quests are bad by default, it’s how you implement it.
For instance the current 0/25 kill aquatic mobs, 0/10 kill rats etc are plain and simple old fetch quests that I think every gamer got tired of.
Sure they will change it to “pick whatever you like” but it’s actually “pick from this bundle of fetch quests what you feel is the least annoying”.
A quest like GW1’s Galrath Infamy isn’t bad tho, or the quests in the Furnace.
Those were good traditional quests.
I agree with his points, but are we really seriously supposed to know who “WoodenPotatoes” is and have this feeling that his opinion somehow matters more than someone else’s? Why is this person relevant? Who cares? Just say “this guy said” or whatever. The internet gives so many people the false sense of importance
This.
I’m not sure why Wooden Potatoes should have more say than any Iron Tomatoes out there on a personal opinion about how he would personally enjoy the game and what he personally does not like of it.
Go comment on his video if you care about his opinion, GW2 community has a whole cares of the community’s whole opinion and no Steel Broccoli out there represents the community.
If he feels hollow that’s his problem, doesn’t make it an objective issue of everyone just because the guy has, uh, 6k views?
GW2 is played by 3 million people.
2-handed weapons have higher base damage.
And can’t switch offhands to get different skills. Your point?
2h vs 1h are balanced in that 2h get more dmg and 1h gets versatility.
Sigils are another story.
Double sigils on 2handers needs to happen.
Remember how Diablo 3 needed to fix 2handers because 1handers could stack more bonuses, it isn’t really different.
Class balance is actually in a good place.
Necro, Engi and Ranger need some buffs and D/D Ele needs a nerf, but that’s about it.
