Its been fun WvW’ing with members of LZZ, theyre quite a challenge, some really interesting builds have been popping up that my build isnt used to :C

people are complaining about the long casting time???? i use it exactly for that reason, that skill with the trait for 400 toughness while casting healing me for about 3k hp aswell is an extremely defensive skill, am i the only one here?

i dont even have a necro and im heart broken about this :C my guildy was extremely peeved xD i dont understand their reason for this, it was the only good way for a necro to escape from an outnumbered fight, i play mes thief and war and all 3 can escape from fighting zergs, the necro just gets hunted like a dog its quite a shame tbh.

I play perma vigor Engi and D/D Ele. I still make it a habit to bulk up my armor without sacrificing DPS too much.

1. Even with perma vigor you can only dodge 2 times consecutively, 3 at max if you’re using sigil of energy. After wasting all your dodges, you’re gonna tank enemy damage. Good luck tanking playing a low armor toon.

2. This is WvW, bursts and instagibs can happen anytime especially in few vs many. What good are all your dodges and evasions if you get bursted by a surprise attack in 2 seconds and you don’t have good enough reflexes to react? Even that 1 extra second you get by bulking up armor can save you.

3. I’m afraid you’ve come to a conclusion that evasion is the only means of survival. Mesmers have enough tools to survive given that they are not too glassy to be bursted in mere seconds because they don’t have decent amount of armor.

4. You say you run with a goup of 5-8. Playing with more than 5, that’s a medium sized roaming party right there. It’s harder to focus fighting against a party of 6+ especially if they have a mesmer. It’s completely different from playing with a roaming party of just 2~5. The chance of you, as a GC, being targetted a lot is a lot lower compared to a group who has fewer numbers.

5. I’d love to see you try win against 1 vs 3 against a decent organized group. Your stun breakers and evasions will eventually run out.

1. you don’t use both of them at the same time, and you don’t use them alone, the mesmer has amazing chain possibilities with the dodges and invulnerabilities it gets. you don’t need to tank, i have 18k HP and if hit/rushed by 10+ it still gives me plenty of time to blink out and reassess with stealth.

2. 1 extra second? even in WvW if you’re steam rolled you’re steam rolled, happened to me a few times and ive managed to get away, its about what you’re sacrificing for that defence that isnt needed if you skill up.

3. Im referring to damage evasion/negation (see point 1) the tools can be chained with rolls and stealths to easily give about 15 secs of not getting hit/seen

4. my group size changes often, to assume I ONLY run in 5-8 is quite ignorant, ive specifically centred my build atm to fighting in 1vx situations and i can assure you that while ive come across groups of 4-8 that have proved extremely challenging, not at one point did they manage to rush me, my health had been drained by cons which i had arcane thievery for.

5.if you’re interested in why i suggest this then its because i have 30 in inspiration and focus on healing to negate condition damage. other than that ive played the mesmer for a long time and can assure you that if you are getting killed by melee attacks/rushers then im afraid the class isn’t for you.

Incombat speed is easily gained with the huge amount of evades you have and tele’s stop qq’ing, mesmers have the highest incombat mobility in the game, not only that you have illusions celerity.

No, that is an absolutely terrible idea.

The whole point of a competitive market is that you’re able to see everyone else’s prices and offer the best deal to your customers. It’s how open markets have always worked everywhere ever. If you remove the ability to see the best deal, not only are you ruining the market, you’re also just plain wasting everyone’s gold on gambling whether that’s an apporopriate price to sell an item for or not, because average price means absolutely nothing.

Besides, if people undercut you, just wait – eventually the prices will go back up and you will probably get to sell your item without having to re-list it. Also, make sure your listings make sense – if your item is low-demand and/or the difference between order and selling prices is not significant, it’s more often than not better to just go for the risk-free automatic sale.

seriously though its not just about the prices, its about the direction of trades that is currently running, you cant just look at that and find out you have to analyse for a good week or two to get the pattern.

this is going to sound really evil of me but the OS is a great place to train, mainly due to the reason that they literally fight to their last breath :P you get plenty of outnumbered fights and lots of environment to train with as well, too many people overlook it as just a JP

this is a really good idea, it would take away from the zerg crush idea and feel more like a constant defence, i have a better idea though, what if the team only gets the effects as long as someone is standing in the circle, that way it would be like shouting “hey look and enemy” xD i think that would add a really unique twist to wvw

being invisible is over the top OP. It has no use in the game and its only use is to do cowardly acts. We have enough cowards in the real world. I would delete invisibility and give them something else. That or drop their hps down to 25 make going into invisible mode damaging to the thief.

i hate perma stealth, it needs adressing i have an 80 thief and when i found out about this i was disgusted, seriously???

no just have a cooldown on the combofield and the problem is sorted, you should be able to stack like that.

You have to significantly nerf your damage to get the most out of stealthing.

Actually I’m from Vabbi and I’ve never yet been able to WP to our keep on EB. My point was that each side have their own JP and if each had a kite with only one of them needed for the achievement it would have been better for the PvE’ers. The people currently being accused of griefing would need to split their numbers between all three JP’s while at the moment they only need to camp OS. Even Vabbi could get enough people together to wipe out 1/3 of which ever high-pop server decided to try to control our BL puzzle.

I also don’t beleive that the OS JP is easier than the BL JP’s which are a doddle. As I said, the fact that mobs are not camping these and the availability of cheap siege on the trading post just proves that being in OS to prevent the other sides getting siege is a load of tosh. The only reason to stay there is to prevent this influx of PvE’ers from getting the achievement which is a bit harsh on the lowbies and low rankers imho. Many of them may not even be aware that friday is WvW reset night and it could be a lot easier afterwards.

noted they are a little extreme considering that everyone already has the points, however these are one time rewards and will get harder and harder to get more points so i have to agree, in perspective they might seem like huge rewards but in reality they arent really and thats why i love them

do you know if the condition that was put on you is given to the player exactly the same or is it modified? i think this is the last thing worrying me

I use both sigils, so I can give you a little feedback.

Sigil of Generosity has a 10 second cooldown. So it can only trigger once every 10 seconds. On-crit sigils share a cooldown, so if you end up using more than one, you will potentially miss the proc (e.g. if sigil of fire critted on your sword and you swapped weapons and got an immediate crit on the GS, you might not get your generosity crit).

It appears that the on-crit effects can happen on any hit caused by that weapon. So with GS, it can have a chance to proc on any of the skills and any of the targets effected (even the pierced targets). But I don’t think it can proc on the attacks of the phantasms.

I don’t think I would ever rely on Generosity as my only condition remover. But I’m not good enough yet to really track how often I dump conditions via Generosity.

It’s a similar phantasm-focused approach, but I’m using the signets as two on-demand condition removers (and then clicking on Lemongrass Poultry soup if I get a ton of conditions on me).

The scepter is not as good as the GS in terms of proc’ing crits. It’s slower and has less range on the auto-attack. I’ve considered swapping and putting the Generosity in the GS. Sigil of Fire helps quite a bit for me when I’m soloing camps, so I would hate to totally lose it.

very informative thank you 10 seconds you say it might be too much of a loss to remove aoe fire as the mesmer gets litlle aoe as it is, i think im gonna create a second GS to test this instead of overwriting, ill have to give that lemongrass tactic a go tbh :P

The main reason why i use zerk is becuase my effectiveness comes from burst damage, i do agree that the dps is higher but this isnt what makes the phantasm mesmer greakittens the burst

Quite simple really, my build is fine in dps and the only usual issue i come across is that conditions can be quite a pain when im in a 1vX situation, i was wondering if i should switch the sigil of fire on my GS to sigil of generosity, however this decision relies on a few questions and id be extremley greatful if someone could answer them for me

1) Is it worth it?
2)whats the cooldown on the sigil of gen
3) will it proc if it is a bounce atk
4)is it worth using the gen sigil and removing all condition remover utilities from my skill bar?
5) whats the negatives of losing sig of fire for it?
6) when the condition is transferred to the target, does it give the correct damage back like arcane thievery or is it a modified condition relative to my condamage?

sorry for the amount of questions but i really feel like my build (zerk phantasm) is so close to being perfect for myself in outmanned fights, i just need to sort out this condition malarky.

It’s not as reliable as some of the other options and it costs a bit of gold, but Sigil of Generosity is another option for conditions. It has a 60% chance to transfer on a critical hit. Sigil of Purity is similar but only removes the condition.

And as Pyro has pointed out in a few threads, the Lemongrass Poultry soup reduces condition duration by 40%. So you can have it on all the time or keep your inventory open and double click it in a fight.

ahh but as an avid WvW you wouldn’t want to be popping 11s everytime you come across someone who using conditions however i do agree it might be worth switching sigil of fire on my gs to sigil of generosity,

Im worried that youve come to the conclusion that survivability means defence,
evasion is also a key part of survivability, i mean it with the utmost respect, but you are crippling your dps with defence not only that when you die you reflect on what the cause was, if you address why your skill will improve, increasing your defence only stunts your skill growth, albeit this build is very good to introduce someone to the GS mesmer but it isnt the best by far :C please dont be angry

arcane thievery is probably the best if you are a Dps build, for example you are fighting two enemies one high condamage and the other a zerk build, being able to redirect the high condamage from yourself to the zerk will efficiantly let you control dps on the fight, ive come under this situation and many times without the skill i would be done for, it just helps turn high dps build into high dps build that can also do high dps in condamage aswell as long as you focus and apply the skill right.

whoops forgot to mention something :S i shatter the phantasms as it adds to a burst dps, i down the opponents a fight in one combo and can recycle the burst in about 15secs of playing defensively

with permanant vigor and constant heals in a group fight with a good amount of stealth to rotate CD’s and break targeting, i found that you practicaly dont need any defense, the reason i have high VIT is for the damage bonus and a larger health pool for better healing

Those constant heals come from shattering, which your build probably isn’t doing much, as you’re stacking phant damage.

With this build it might be better to ditch the phantasms and go fully for shatters.

well really i wanted only 25 in vit line for the 15% extra damage and larger health pool, however i thought i might aswell get the heals on shatter, i make use of all 4 shatter skills and use the shatters as part of a phantasm burst combo, ive had quite good responses actually on my burst combo ill have to upload a video what benefits could i get from going into shatter? would i have to go 30 in illusions?

edit: the constant heals come from the food tbh, the shatter heals are a bonus and are a large enough heal to be proc’d once in a while but in a typical 1v3 id use all 4 shatters giving about 5000 hp

thank you its good to hear, and i was experimenting with arcane thievery and this is the slot that always gets changed in WvW portal, feedback, mantra of resolve, mimic, null field, arcane thievery i just cant decide they are all so good, what would you say is the best skill out of them for say a 1v5 situation?

RedCobra here and ive got a build ive used for my mesmer a while, you see the styleset works perfectly for me and i absaloutly love the burst and survivability from it, this build is used as a group fighter and allows me to take on more enemies than myself,

I dont want to come across arogant but this build works (for me) so im not really looking for comments that say “this build is terrible” but more on the lines of, “maybe you could try this instead to get more x,y and z”

i used to have 10 in the toughness line to get 3% reduced damage instead of the 15% extra damage for illusions in the power line, can anyone tell me if this stacks with the phantasms do extra damage in the vitality line?

any questions on why ive used certain things id be more than happy to answer them.

If you’re talking about PvP, it varies wildly and depends a lot on character and build.

If you’re talking about PvE: 0. Full berserkers. Always. PvE design flaw: The things you can tank you don’t need to, and the things you wanted to tank you can’t.

This isn’t exactly true. If you’re in full zerk mode and trying to kill say, 7 guys at once, some of them will likely be ranged. If they’re not in a nice ball for you to AoE, you’ll have to run around taking each one down individually and in the process take a good amount of damage. It’s not that difficult to figure out, but if you really want to solo 5-10 monsters at once, most of the time being pure zerk won’t be the best option. I don’t know how anyone could disagree.

very interesting, i fought two mesmers of this build with my warrior, i died, i was pretty miffed so i cam back with my main (phantasm mesmer with high healing capabilities) and lets just say they both got destroyed, both downed in under 10 secs xD, pls advise people that this is only good as long as you are with damage dealers, you need the stealth to stay out of agro, but i fought them again but with an elementelist (this time it was arranged), the tanky elem even with perma prot couldnt survive and the others were easy :P

what im trying to get across is that this is in no way good for WvW, Spvp would be a better application though but thats not my area

Can we please get an exact timeline on when the final couple legendaries to receive their updated effects will receive them? Namely, Meteorlogicus and The Minstrel.

Judging by how rapidly all other legendary effects were updated, I can not surmise it would be an extraordinarily long or difficult process to add effects to the final few.

Please just DO IT and add it in immediately so it can be done with. No need to wait until a bunch of new legendaries are ready to be introduced. Please focus on fixing the final few now.

An exact timeline would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
